I agree that the top three year old filly this year wasn't in the Black Eyed Susan....or even possibly the top four or five. But it feels weird that the NBC casters are harping on how weak the field is right after Gun Song won. This race has lost a lot of luster because most trainers won't run a filly that ran two weeks ago here (Lemon Muffin ran in both but didn't show much in either, and Lukas is a throwback to when that was more common anyway). Who knows how good Gun Song could be. We'll see how she goes in the future-she looked pretty damn go even if the race set up well for her.

All the bashing after Gun Song won the Black Eyed Susan, about how that race a was a subpar group.....but that was as close as any filly has been to Thorpedo Anna at the end of a race all year.

Any hope I had that they'd reroute the Grizz to the Classic is pretty much squashed though. Kudos to the top two, but not a flashy race.
