Mastering the Art of Interviewing: Techniques and Strategies for Success
Interviews are one of the most important steps in the job search process. You can either land your dream job or continue your search with a successful interview. If you're not prepared, interviewing can also be nerve-wracking and stressful. This article will cover some key interviewing techniques and strategies.
Tumblr media
Research the Company and the Role
Before an interview, you should do research on the company and the position you are applying for. You will gain a deeper understanding of the company's culture and values, as well as the specific skills and qualifications they are seeking. Gather as much information as possible by using the company's website, LinkedIn, and other online resources.
Prepare Your Answers
Preparation for common interview questions is a good idea before the interview. Answer questions about your experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as why you are interested in the role and what you can contribute. During the interview, you'll feel more confident and prepared.
Dress Appropriately
First impressions are crucial, and dressing correctly for an interview might assist you in making a good one. Make sure your outfit is professional and fits the workplace culture. If you're unsure what to wear, be conservative.
Make a Good First Impression
There are additional methods to create a strong first impression during an interview besides wearing correctly. Arrive on time, smile and shake the interviewer's hand, and keep excellent eye contact during the interview. These tiny acts may make a big difference in generating a good impression.
Ask Questions
The interviewer will most likely ask whether you have any questions at the end of the session. This is an excellent opportunity to express your enthusiasm for the position and the organization. Prepare some questions ahead of time to demonstrate that you've done your homework and are really interested in learning more. This will also allow you to determine whether the firm is a suitable fit for you.
To summarize, mastering the art of interviewing requires planning, practice, and confidence. You may improve your chances of success in the interview process by researching the firm and the position, preparing your responses, dressing correctly, creating a good first impression, and asking questions. Remember, the interview is your opportunity to exhibit your abilities and credentials and why you're the best applicant for the position.

Gulf migration is not just a major phenomenon in Kerala; north Indian states also see massive migration to the Gulf. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar accounted for the biggest share (30% and 15%) of all Indian workers migrating to GCC1 countries in 2016-17 (Khan 2023)—a trend which continues today. Remittances from the Gulf have brought about significant growth in Bihar’s economy (Khan 2023)—as part of a migrant’s family, I have observed a tangible shift in the quality of life, education, houses, and so on, in Siwan. In Bihar, three districts—Siwan, Gopalganj, and Chapra—send the majority of Gulf migrants from the state, mostly for manual labor (Khan 2023). Bihar also sees internal migration of daily wagers to Delhi, Bombay, and other parts of India. Gulf migration from India’s northern regions, like elsewhere in India, began after the oil boom in the 1970s. Before this time, migration was limited to a few places such as Assam, Calcutta, Bokaro, and Barauni—my own grandfather worked in the Bokaro steel factory.
Despite the role of Gulf migration and internal migration in north Indian regions, we see a representational void in popular culture. Bollywood films on migration largely use rural settings, focussing on people who work in the USA, Europe, or Canada. The narratives centre these migrants’ love for the land and use dialogue such as ‘mitti ki khusbu‘ (fragrance of homeland). Few Bollywood films, like Dor and Silvat, portray internal migration and Gulf migration. While Bollywood films frequently centre diasporic experiences such as Gujaratis in the USA and Punjabis in Canada, they fail in portraying Bihari migrants, be they indentured labourers in the diaspora, daily wagers in Bengal, or Gulf migrants. The regional Bhojpuri film industry fares no better in this regard. ‘A good chunk of the budget is spent on songs since Bhojpuri songs have an even larger viewership that goes beyond the Bhojpuri-speaking public’, notes Ahmed (2022), marking a context where there is little purchase for Gulf migration to be used as a reference to narrate human stories of longing, sacrifice, and family.
One reason for this biased representation of migration is that we see ‘migration’ as a monolith. In academic discourse, too, migration is often depicted as a commonplace phenomenon, but I believe it is crucial to make nuanced distinctions in the usage of the terms ‘migration’ and ‘migrant’. The term ‘migration’ is a broad umbrella term that may oversimplify the diverse experiences within this category. My specific concern is about Gulf migrants, as their migration often occurs under challenging circumstances. For individuals from my region, heading to the Gulf is typically a last resort. This kind of migration leads to many difficulties, especially when it distances migrants from their family for much of their lifetime. The term ‘migration’, therefore, inadequately captures the profound differences between, for instance, migrating to the USA for educational purposes and migrating to the Gulf for labour jobs. Bihar has a rich history of migration, dating back to the era of indentured labor known as girmitiya. Following the abolition of slavery in 1883, colonial powers engaged in the recruitment of laborers for their other colonies through agreements (Jha 2019). Girmitiya distinguishes itself from the migration. People who are going to the Arabian Gulf as blue-collar labourers are also called ‘Gulf migrants’—a term that erases how their conditions are very close to slavery. This is why, as a son who rarely saw his father, I prefer to call myself a ‘victim of migration’ rather than just a ‘part of migration’. It is this sense of victimhood and lack of control over one’s life that I saw missing in Bollywood and Bhojpuri cinema.

*ISRAEL REALTIME* - "Connecting the World to Israel in Realtime"
🔅MORNING SUMMARY:
Alert for northern Israel near-Lebanon towns, gates and roads closed.  Several rounds of rockets from Lebanon overnight, heavier attacks expected.  IDF attacked heavily overnight and continues this morning with airstrikes and artillery, including ranger farther into Lebanon that previously.
Hostage negotiations seem to be at a standstill, with Hamas or Islamic Jihad demanding a comprehensive end-of-war agreement where everything returns to how it was, instead of a ceasefire.
Yemen’s Houthis are mass recruiting an Israeli invasion force… with no way to get to Israel.  But those zealots tend to try to do whatever they claim, regardless of consequences.  Could they load up hijacked container ships with fighters and head towards Israel?  Related, a weapons warehouse exploded in Yemen, and U.S. jets are doing Yemen reconnaissance from the U.S. aircraft carrier.  And more shipping companies abandon Red Sea / Suez Canal routes, increasing shipping costs to/from Europe.
Yesterday’s weird story to be censor-released at midnight… turned out to be a Hamas prisoner in Israeli prison being beaten, not the kind of explosive story channels built it up to be.
In Israel internal issues, the IDF put forth a plan to bribe near-Gaza residents back to their homes, while the local governments adamantly refuse until the war is won and the towns are safe from Gaza massacre or rockets.  In the meantime over 130,000 people are evacuated to hotels around Israel, and besides personal and family impact have job impact, school, mortgage payments on homes they can’t live in, etc.
Heavy fighting continues in Gaza as the IDF pushes further into every neighborhood — which unfortunately is required as every clinic, every school, every mosque, etc is a weapons warehouse, tunnel junction, and/or rocket launching facility.
ector:
שניר, דן, דפנה, הגושרים, מעין ברוך, כפר גלעדי, משגב עם, מנרה, יפתח, מלכיה, יראון, ברעם, סאסא וצבעון.
Residents staying in these settlements are asked to reduce traffic in the settlement.  A large number of related roads and intersections will be closed as well.
▪️OVERNIGHT ROCKETS… from Lebanon, Kiryat Shmona, Misgav Am and surrounds, 2 rounds, from Gaza, Nirim, 1 round.  A few minutes ago, near-Gaza 1 round.
▪️LEBANON… Heavy IDF airstrikes and artillery continued overnight and this morning.  Hezbollah attacked the IDF navy base in Rosh HaNikra, launched fire bombs to intentionally start forest fires in Israel, and fired rockets overnight.
▪️IDF ATTACKS GAZA… IDF launched a broad attack on the Daraj a-Tupah neighborhood in Gaza City with the aim of destroying, among other things, Hamas's rocket-launching capability. Most of the launches recently were from this area.  Heavy fighting around Khan Yunis, Jabalia, Shahja'ia, Al-Safatawi, Sheikh Radwan and Beit Hanun.
▪️HOSTAGE NEGOTIATIONS… "Sources in the Palestinian Resistance”: We reject the occupation's proposal for a 7-day temporary cease-fire. Hamas has made it clear that the time for ceasefire has passed. Any proposal that does not include a comprehensive (and final) cease-fire is futile.
▪️HOUTHIS (Yemen) RECRUITING FIGHTERS TO INVADE ISRAEL… Tens of thousands of Yemenis are on their way to the assembly area from where they are supposed to go out to fight against Israel, with the slight problem of how will they get to Israel.  While this may sound like a joke, these zealots usually do what they say - without consideration of consequences.
Related (1): A fierce explosion in a weapons warehouse belonging to the Houthis in the city of Aarb, Yemen, with casualties.
Related (2): U.S. jets have begun conducting reconnaissance flights from the aircraft carrier Eisenhower, which is stationed in the Gulf of Aden, in front of Yemen.
▪️3 HERO SOLDIERS FELL in Gaza.

Spectre Requisitions ‘23 - The Rec Post!!
It’s that time of year again! I took part in the Spectre Requisitions Rare Pair Exchange @spectre-requisitions-exchange (link to the collection here) and man. SO MUCH good shit.
I can’t reveal what I wrote (yet) but I have been reading through the collection and here’s a few incredible works that I really enjoyed! Remember to kudos and comment if you find anything you like 💖
(NB: I focused on fic, but honestly every bit of fanart I’ve seen for it is also incredible, please go check it out)
Gifts for Me
I was SO lucky this year - loyal friends will know that I’ve been suffering from a massive dose of Lawkarian brainrot, and I got not one, but TWO long-ass Garrus/Miranda fics!!!! honestly still can’t get over it, incredible
Between the Devil and the Deep, Garrus/Miranda, 20K, E
Set pre-ME2, Miranda recruits Archangel for a job, fucks him to keep him sweet.
This is just. Pure filth, and I love it. Aliases, power plays, both Garrus and Miranda being amoral little weirdos. What more can you ask for?
The Woman in White, Garrus/Miranda, 16.9K, E
Set pre-ME2, Miranda recruits Archangel for a job, doesn’t really do ANYTHING to keep him sweet (but they fuck anyway).
:chinhands: This is just. GORGEOUSLY written, and the begrudging way in which they start to like each other (but not too much) is incredible. Top-notch Garrus POV
Gen
loose ends, Maelon & Mordin, 9.9K, T
Set during and after ME3, canon-divergent AU. Maelon finds Mordin in the wreckage after Tuchanka and nurses him back to health.
I love their relationship in this - Mordin’s so aware of Maelon’s weaknesses (or what he perceives to be his weakness) but there’s still so much caring, despite the huge gulf between them. Also the easiest way to make me a teary mess is a Urdnot Mordin cameo 😭
The Stories We Tell, Joker & Tali, 3.1K, T
Set during ME1. Tali forces Joker to be her friend.
Really great dialogue for everyone - it’s very cute and fun until suddenly it’s not!!! which is rude!!! but still very good, A+++
Care and Maintenance, Kaidan & Tali, 2.2K, T
Set during ME1. Kaidan and Tali bond over dads, tech and Shepard’s reckless driving.
This one was just nice! And also who doesn’t love a bit of Shepard driving slander
F/F
swear, this one you’ll save, Nyreen/Solana, 1.5K, G
Pre-canon: five times Solana has a secret about Nyreen.
I’m only slightly obsessed with these two, and this fic was so perfect. Childhood friends to lovers is a god-tier trope, and it’s so deliciously bittersweet
Real, Beautiful, f!Shali, 0.7K, G
Post-ME3, A morning on Rannoch.
The post-war fluff we deserve, imo!
A Knife in Starlight, Morinth/f!Shepard, 1K, M
Set during ME2. Character study with a side of smut.
I think Morinth is incredibly interesting as a character, but the real standout of this fic is the Shepard - Ruthless, stone butch, wonderfully jagged.
M/M
Collide, m!Shakarian, 4.1K, M
Set during ME2. Friends-to-lovers and mutual pining.
I love m!Shakarian anyway, but mutual pining?? Sexually charged pining?? LOVE CONFESSIONS?? Good shit
M/F
Change of Command, Garrus/Miranda, 3.6K, M
Set during ME2. Epistolary fic, a series of comms transcripts between Garrus and Miranda.
Yes, someone else wanted Lawkarian!! The (verbal) sparring is so much fun, and the format is perfect.
Beauty Like a Raging Flame, f!Shaeed, 6.2K, E
Set during ME2. Shepard gets into a fight in Afterlife, and Zaeed has to go pick her up.
There’s a lot of Shaeed this year! But this one is my favourite. The Zaeed voice is great (appropriately crusty, not too soppy, just the way I like it) and it’s nice seeing him paired off with a Paragon Shep. Plus, Zaeed’s turned on by violence. Smutty perfection
only echoes in the melody now, Kasumi/Keiji’s Greybox, 3.4K, E
Post-ME3. Bittersweet porn with feelings.
God, this one really blew me away. The prose is incredible, and there’s so many little bits that really land how fucked up the greybox concept really is. The ending is great, too. Can’t recommend this enough.
Longing Makes a Thief, Kasumi/Rolan Quarn, 17.7K, E
Kasumi and Rolan run into each other during a job, and realise they’ve met before - sort of.
This was so much fun - bubbly like a glass of champagne. The banter’s great, the smut is great, it’s all so good. Run, don’t walk!
Poly
An Unfortunately Sexy Man, Addison/Kandros/Kesh/Tann, 6.6K, M
MEA. Addison, Kandros and Kesh all have one thing in common: a devastating, inexplicable crush on Director Tann.
I’m not really one for crack, but this is definitely an exception. Genuinely funny, and the Tann voice in particular is incredibly on-point.

krauser // his past before operation javier.
i was talking to someone i simp for the other night ( she knows who she is, she's p cool tbh ) - & i was sorta briefly waffling about krauser's past before operation javier. i wanted to speak about it here as a means to giving more insight into the way that i portray him.
so, no matter the canon ( og or remake ), krauser is stated to have been a very successful soldier. judging by the timeline of the re universe, i could speculate that he served a tour during the gulf war. but in truth, i'd rather keep his tours vague. i don't want to inject too much in regards to real world conflict into my headcanon because the world of re is a fictional one. however, i will grasp from real world and suggest that krauser has seen two to three tours during his time with the army.
he began serving at age 18 - followed in his father's footsteps. a man as tough and passionate about his country as his son. there were no disputes from krauser's family regarding his going into the military, they were all entirely proud of him.
if each tour was around 2-4 years, i imagine two/three is a reasonable amount for him to have served before he went back to base duties / promotion or even merc work. it's implied in the original canon that krauser found solace in his spare time essentially doing merc work for money. but that isn't what this headcanon is about. this headcanon, in the words of jlc is about 'trauma'.
during one or even both of his tours, krauser experienced seeing his men die. not all of them, maybe not even a few - but he saw men die. he has vivid memories of friends begging for his help, despite it - he reacted as had been injected into him by years of a firm upbringing and toxic masculinity. he didn't react with sadness or angst, he kept his nightmares to himself, he channelled his misery into further action. going out into the field time and time again as a means of taking his mind off of the horrors of losing friends. he started to close himself off from people, becoming reluctant in regards to being 'friendly' with those around him.
when leon would speak to him about the horrors of raccoon city ( to an extent that leon could ), krauser didn't believe him one-part due to blindly following every order of his country and another part because he assumed the 'monsters' leon spoke of were corpses. nightmares. krauser is a man who's seen demons in his dreams because of the horrors he's witnessed whilst fighting in civil disputes abroad.
upon actually seeing monsters during operation javier, he is terrified. genuinely scared not simply because of the extremity of monsters attacking but also because the bloody remains of shambling corpses look like the men he had once lost. these are the demons he's wrestled with so many times privately, come to life. and while leon handles that in the way he knows how, for krauser - it's horrifying. it's every fear, every doubt, every horrible memory bought to life.
and to make it worse - his fear is a contributing factor to the loss of his men. i don't see krauser as a coward, not for a second, but i do imagine that he partly blames himself for their deaths. he has the mindset of 'if only i was stronger', 'if only i'd done more'. and while someone like leon reacts to failing to save others with a determination to do more, krauser reacts by twisting himself into a bitter frenzy. lashing out. he's so angry and upset over his own fears that ultimately, he wants leon to kill him. simply for repentance.
basically, he was messed up before the events of operation javier. he was holding onto that pain as a means of not letting it get the better of him. so far, he'd done a good job simply becoming a man turned major who would train recruits, take pride in his country / service while he cut himself off from 'normal' people and slowly delved more and more into the shadow of a man once great. by the time operation javier is done, he is fully engulfed in blackness.

Qatar is a country in the Middle East that is known for its thriving economy and job opportunities. If you are considering working in Qatar, one of the things that you should look into are the job benefits that are available to employees. Here are some of the job benefits that you can expect when working in Qatar.
Tax-free income:
One of the biggest advantages of working in Qatar is tax-free income. The country does not have a personal income tax, which means that employees can take home their full salary without any deductions.
Health insurance:
Most employers in Qatar offer health insurance to their employees. This includes coverage for medical treatment, hospitalization, and other related expenses. The country's high medical costs make this particularly important.
Housing:
Many employers in Qatar provide their employees with housing allowances or fully furnished accommodation. This can help alleviate the high cost of living in the country, and make it easier for employees to settle in and feel at home.
Paid leave:
Employees in Qatar are entitled to a certain amount of paid leave every year. This includes annual leave, sick leave, and public holidays. The amount of leave varies depending on the employer and the length of service.
Education:
Some employers in Qatar offer education benefits to their employees. This includes coverage for tuition fees for their children, as well as other educational expenses such as books and supplies.
Transportation:
Many employers in Qatar provide transportation to their employees, either through a company vehicle or by reimbursing the cost of public transportation. This can help reduce the cost of commuting, which can be particularly expensive in some parts of the country.
Pension:
Most employers in Qatar offer a pension scheme to their employees. As a result, retirement can be more secure financially. It can be a crucial consideration for those who are planning to work in the country for an extended period of time.
Qatar offers a range of job benefits that make it an attractive destination for those looking for employment opportunities in the Middle East. These benefits include tax-free income, health insurance, housing, paid leave, education, transportation, and pension schemes. It is critical to research the specific benefits offered by each employer, as they can vary depending on the industry and the company.
