₊‧.°.⋆ Blog Entry: FOUR ₊‧.°.⋆
KAPENG GULAMAN SERYE ๑༄ ‧₊˚
Tumblr media
Have you ever been so addicted to something and crave it every single day? Lately, my D'cream addiction has been dominating my need to save money. They offer this specific drink which is rich in creaminess and flavor, and it's called the Golden Sun. I prefer adding coffee cubes (a coffee jelly) along with the drink, giving it a coffee-jelly-like drink. I then realized that instead of giving away my money, why not make coffee jelly since it tastes almost identical?
I then ran to the nearest store to buy gelatin ⊹˚₊ only ₊˚⊹ since the ingredients here are easy and surely inside your pantry. Though I may have come to think that is gelatin common inside every household? After my questioned myself with random ginger cat thoughts, I prep every ingredient and kitchen equipment on the counter and contemplate why I am doing it in the first place. Everything I've been making lately is not measurement friendly, and I always make these goodies out of my gut feeling. That's why the initial problem here is how I am supposed to replicate this in the succeeding days. Nevertheless, I do believe in the power of my taste buds and will surely make measurements next time ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
Tumblr media
Procedures:
The Coffee Cubes 。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ˎˊ˗
- Get yourself a gigantic pot to avoid unnecessary overflowing bubbles that will soon splash and send a hundred ants biting your skin harmoniously. Next is to pour your instant coffee and sugar and mix until dissolved and incorporated. After that, heat the pot and stir it continuously.
The Milk Soup 。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆ˎˊ˗
- In a large bowl or container, combine the evaporated milk, condensed milk, and powdered milk (trust me on this). But, if you like it thick 😏 you can add whipped cream/nestle cream.
Tumblr media
The Matrimony of the cubes and the soup:
- Slice your coffee cubes into cubes *crickets* and make sure that they are small chunks. After that, pour it into the soup mixture, and viola, the matrimony has ended. Put it into the fridge because it tastes much better when cold. Serve, and enjoy your palpitation *doob * *doob* ✧˖°.♡

SUMMER ESCAPE
"A good food is equals to a good mood"
Tumblr media
A trip will not end without savoring a food or a delicacy that a specific place serves. Then here comes the rise of food travel, which builds a very exciting and flavorful adventure. During summer time in the Philippines, one of the most popular and always sought-after desserts by Filipinos is the famous "halo-halo," a dessert that consists of different kinds of ingredients, shaved ice and milk, and sometimes comes with ice cream or leche flan on top. A unique Filipino delicacy that could turn your summer into a cool one. As far as I remember, it is called "Halo-Halo" because of the ingredients and the way of eating it. For you to savor it and the true flavor of it, you need to mix all the ingredients in a cup with a spoon and mix them until well combined.
Tumblr media
There are several famous places in the Philippines that serve Halo-Halo; one of these is the famous Digman store that is located in Bacoor, Cavite. They serve a flavorful type of halo-halo that consists of twelve (12) ingredients: sweet corn, sweet beans, gulaman in two (2) varieties, sweetened sliced banana, sweetened coconut meat, kaong, sago, nata de coco, black beans, leche flan, and ube, which are all home-made excluding the milk and the ice. They offer regular halo-halo which cost a hundred pesos and special halo-halo, that comes with an ice cream and leche flan on top for a hundred and ten pesos. Aside from this, one of their specialties is their home-made siopao for only 30 pesos, which comes in only one flavor. My visit to Digman won't be complete if I do not try these specials on their menu, so I purchase each one and have a mouthful of it. I could really say that there's something in their halo-halo that's different from the typical one that you can buy anywhere. It is way creamier and it has just the right amount of sweetness, plus it is really amazing because it consists of twelve home-made ingredients, which have been done for almost how many years since the day the business started way back in the 1930's. That was the recipe of Raymunda Ugalde-Toledo, also known as Aling Raymunda, the mother of the three (3) owners of Digman stores. As for their famous home-made siopao, at first bite, you can already say that it is home-made because of its dough and the meat inside, you can taste the flavor of home made food. It is not bad because there are a lot of fillings, and the sauce is really crazy, which adds flavor to the siopao itself. It has come to my knowledge that both the siopao and its sauce are home-made. There are a lot in their menu aside from these two specialties like Mais con yelo, empanada, pancit, tapsilog, chicken mami, BBQ, and more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Halo-halo is something special to every Filipino; it is our true food to escape the hot weather and cool ourselves. It is way simple, but it holds a lot of stories; it shows different colors and backgrounds; and it feels happiness and contentment. Food that will cool your whole existence and answer your cravings this summer. A cool escape in the summer which can give you a refreshing vibe. "Halo-halo," the summer food escape and the taste of Filipinos.

So I'm having dinner with my fam outside and we got asked if we wanted pineapple or gulaman as drinks cuz it were the only ones available. I said something about hating pineapples cuz "it tries to eat you back" and my mom was like " really, how?" and as I tried to explain like, something something bromelain. Then my brother began miming the nerd emoji at me ☝️🤓 while I spoke . I wanted to throttle him so bad.

The Black Gulaman Americano and Red Bean Suman from Papakape are my new Manila Merienda.
The new coffee shop is inside an old fort that's 400+ years old. Fort Santiago was built between 1589 and 1592, and was so fortified that it was later used by the British (1762), the Americans (1898), and the Japanese (1942) whenever they came by to say "hi."
Papakape's best-seller is made with espresso, pandan arnibal, grass jelly, and basil seeds. I'm not into sugary drinks but this is still coffee, the espresso still the main attraction, and double shots are welcome and encouraged.
Intramuros is open again with Mercato Centrale and Papakape open inside Fort Santiago. Just pay the P75 admission and take a closer look at history, and history in the making.

Banqueta Wednesdays at Marriott Cafe Offers Unlimited Steak and Elevated Street Food Buffet
Tumblr media
Most of us grew up enjoying Filipino street food, from the classic fishballs and turon, to the more exotic isaw, kwek kwek, and adidas. Most of these delicacies are quite familiar to me, but as I grew older, I encountered them less frequently, especially since street food is seen to be less hygienic. That's why I was happy to find out that we can now enjoy all these classic favorites at a cleaner and much safer environment with Marriott Cafe's Banqueta Wednesdays!
Tumblr media
Marriott Cafe is Marriott Manila’s all day dining restaurant located at the ground floor lobby. You can now enjoy unlimited steak, seafood, and Filipino street food favorites in a refined setting every Wednesday dinner from 6:00pm to 9:00 pm at the Banqueta Wednesdays for only ₱2,999 nett per person.
Tumblr media
Banqueta Wednesdays is the ultimate night market with a wide variety of Filipino street food stations, unlimited steak and international buffet selections at their open-theatre kitchens.
Tumblr media
You can start at the appetizers and salad stations which offers various breads and Asian starters like kimchi, spicy fish cake, mushroom dinakdakan, itlog na maalat at kamatis, and others.
Tumblr media
Then head over to the main buffet table where you can get some Baked Penne, Vegetable Casserole, and Polenta together with a few wraps of Shawarma.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The Seafood Paella is one of the highlights here with its delicious combination of crabs, mussels, and prawns on a bed of flavorful paella rice.
Tumblr media
Just beside this is the carving station which has this gorgeous Porchetta as the centerpiece. The skin is so crispy so make sure you get a few slices for yourself.
Tumblr media
They also have a pasta station where you can ask for Grandma's Pomodoro that will be freshly cooked for you a la minute.
Tumblr media
Next, make your way to the Japanese station where you can find a colorful selection of sushi together with Takoyaki Balls and Okonomiyaki.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The main attraction at Banqueta Wednesdays is the Banqueta Display right in the center of the buffet area. Here you can find an assortment of Filipino street food favorites like chicken isaw, pork isaw, fishballs, vegetable skewers, and okoy.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Other exotic items available include pork ears, kwek kwek, tokneneng, pork barbecue, and adidas or chicken feet. These are items that you do not typically see in a five-star hotel buffet but Marriott Cafe makes these accessible to everyone during Banqueta Wednesdays. They even have some Balut and Penoy eggs.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Marriott Cafe goes one step further because aside from all the Filipino street food, you can also enjoy unlimited steak, crabs, prawns, mussels, clams, and squid.
Tumblr media
Just pick the items and skewers you like and hand them over to the grilling station. These will be cooked right on the spot and delivered straight to your table.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Now these are items you don't see every day at five star hotels! These classic Filipino street food dishes also bring a sense of nostalgia for those who used to eat these during their childhood.
Tumblr media
Of course, you can also enjoy the more luxurious side of Banqueta Wednesdays with unlimited servings of steak to go with your choice of seafood.
Tumblr media
Don't forget about the other international stations at Marriott Cafe like the Chinese station. Here you can find Chinese roastings including roast pork and roast chicken. There's also several dimsum specialties to choose from.
Tumblr media
The Paluto station is also a must visit with its live fish that you can cooked according to your liking. Have it steamed in soy sauce or cooked Singaporean style with sweet chili sauce.
Tumblr media
To make Banqueta Wednesdays even more authentic, there's a small sari sari store offering Samalamig beverages like buck panda, sago't gulaman, and melon drinks. Make sure to grab some street snacks too.
Tumblr media
The Dessert station offers many ways to complete your steak and street food buffet. You can get some fruits, brownies, cookies, egg tarts, and Filipino desserts like sapin-sapin, kutsinta, cassava cake, and more that you can dip inside the grand Chocolate Fountain.
Tumblr media
There are also several cakes and pastries to choose from including Brownie Pie, Swiss Strawberry Roll, Chocolate Mousse, and Swan Puff Diplomat. You can also get as many scoops of gelato as you want at the Gelato station.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Guests can also order Marriott Cafe's Drink of the Month which can be served in alcoholic or non-alcoholic versions. This comes with a very cute stuffed toy that you can bring home with you.
Tumblr media
Banqueta Wednesdays is available every Wednesday until December 18, 2024. For inquiries and reservations, you may call them 8988-9999 and (0917) 584-9560. Enjoy an elevated street food buffet experience only at Marriott Manila!

Cool Food to Beat the Heat
It is the time again for Summer, and we know that there are many ways to beat the hot weather like going to the beach, going to cooler places and many more. And also one of those is a delectable food trip and this is your ultimate guide to those cool food finds in this season.
There are many foods that you may seek through to beat this thirst-quenching condition, especially those very Pinoy sweet refreshments. Like the famous Halo-halo that consists of gulaman, banana, nata de coco, kaong, sago, garbanzos and many more. Topped by ice, ube, leche flan and poured with evaporated milk, definitely an one of a kind treat. Others related to this are Mais Con Yelo which is dominated by sweetened corn, Sago't Gulaman, Saging Con Yelo, Scramble and many more that are still available at many stores and also can be done at the comfort of your home.
And one thing also that is definitely a classic summer food that is always present especially in outings, the grilled food. One of those is the Pork Barbecue that is marinated in soy sauce, garlic, calamansi, sugar and many herbs and spices. Then putting it on a stick and grilling on it smothered with special sauce through the meat and you can enjoy it with rice and have more if you want. Also, aside from that, you may opt to do it with Boneless Bangus, Chicken to do Inasal, Squid and many more that is good for sharing with your family and friends in your gatherings especially in today's condition.
And lastly, good for Merienda with bread and a refreshing soft drink or juice, the all-time favorite dish that is meant for long-life, the many kinds of Pancit. One of these is Palabok that the noodles are cooked and topped with a special sauce that is colored by achuete, somehow garlicky in taste with boiled egg, tinapa flakes, shrimp, fried garlic and spring onions and usually served with calamansi alongside. The following types of this delicacy are Bihon, Miki, Malabon, Puso, Habhab, Sotanghon and many more with different ingredients in the localities
To wrap up this simple feature about our rich food in this dry season, Indeed that there are many ways to deal with this kind of weather especially in the Filipino cuisine. The following are those basic and more known products that are very close to our hearts and there are still a lot of these delicious treats that you may try to do on your own and also make income for this. Also reflected on this that we are very resourceful and capable of going with the flow despite this condition that we're experiencing up to this date and it is continuous throughout different generations and times as well.

We fetched him and we went to KCC to fetch Mama. We bought Yakult and leche flan, puto at Carmelas, beef tapa rice and gulaman at Chinitos. We decided to go home. We arrived safely. We had dinner and I ate chooks to go with rice and ate the leche flan. I shared it to my family. I scrolled my social media accounts. I had my laundry done. We went to IBT to drop Kuya JP because he will be back at Ipil for work. We arrived home safely. I continued my laundry. I read few pages of the Bible. I played cooking fever. I will drink my medicines. I will do my self and skin care routine. Have mercy on us Oh God. Guide us always to the right path. Remove sickness, danger and negative things in our life. #MUSTBEABOVE CHINESE RESTAURANT IN POBLACION, MAKATI
Cravings of the day? Chinese food!
Located in the busy street of Makati Avenue, with a pleasant ambience, great food reviews, and a fair parking space, we knew that NEXT DOOR NOODLES would be a nice place to satisfy our cravings!
Tumblr media
They offer a wide selection of Chinese dishes inciting within us the compulsion to order almost everything on their menu. Sooooo, to avoid over ordering, we ended up asking a recommendation from their staff. Among her recos were their Fresh Chinese Amoy Lumpia & Chinese Bagoong with Lechon Macau. These instantly became our favorites.
Their dumplings have delightful tastes and generous fillings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also went a bit adventurous and ordered their Century Egg with Jelly Fish Salad. The century egg, with its earthy and a little yeasty taste, the jellyfish, having a slight salty taste, and their seasoning, got this dish bursting with flavor.
Tumblr media
Their Salted Garlic Squid and Salt & Pepper Spare Ribs are both juicy and tender, and perfectly went together with vinegar and chilli sauce.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly, they also got a very refreshing Sago & Gulaman Cooler and Fresh Lemonade drink.
Tumblr media
Definitely a #MustBeAbove restaurant!

2/21/2022

I honestly dont think this counts as a snack but i ate this in sm:

I ate this at like 5pm and i was so tired from school and goddamn did this filled me up. It honestly looks like the food you get from filipino events lol. The sauce on the side is sweet and sweet chili sauce. Also yes i am eating in front of a trash can
