How did you get into the fandom?

Like a lot of us 😆 I saw a fan edit of Mickey & Ian on YouTube (I can't find it again even when I've searched my history 😭) I was kinda in between fandoms at the time with Malex from Roswell New Mexico but they were broken up at the time & buddie lol.

But then I was shot through the heart when I went through the gallavich tag & it felt like home 🥰

I have read some pretty freaky & nasty fic bc of curiosity, so I nothing really gave me icks in tropes, but in writing style, I got turned around with Jen @wehangout with second person POV. You're so talented that I really enjoyed them when I would nope out before 😆

What surprised you most about this fandom?

Everything surprised me about this fandom bc it was my first one!! 😆 I didn't really know how to do tumblr & didn't really get how to interact. So I used tumblr like a sticker book, then came learning tags & so ppl reached out to me which helped me gain confidence haha

This is kinda a golden standard fandom. So welcoming, loving & encouraging!! If I ever dabble in another fandom, imma have a high standard bc I've been spoiled by y'all! ILY

Moment in the show (or YT vids if you're one of those) that you fell in hyperfixation with gallavich?

It was the "I'm fucking gay" scene to the "Guess what we've been doing daddy" The way he humps the car with all that conviction & screaming "he fucking loves it".

Everything clicked & I was like "Damn I love this fictional man." He is my favourite character of all time & this ship is my OTP & GOAT.

What’s a fic you’ve read more than once? i havent read that many gallavich fanfics since i watched the show in like april BUT im loving Africa and ill probably read it once it's finished

What’s a gifset you always have to reblog? s7 gifsets are really person to me but also maybe s10 and s11 because they reached the peak of softness

What’s a headcanon you can’t stop thinking about? maybe that ian would tell mickey "i told you so" when they become parents and mickey turns out to be an absolute incredible dad that will play, sing, dance anything with his children.

What’s a fanart you love looking at? maybe @gallavichonly @heymrspatel and i accept recommendations btw id love to see more fanart

What’s an idea you’d love to create if you had the time/inspiration? id probably write like a series of one shots based on taylor swift songs

What’s something you’ve discovered since entering this fandom? A new trope you love? A different analysis of the show? Something else? i think that not judging characters, like always be aware of their circumstances and what made them do or say that and that might not justify them but it explains their thought process, it explains why and gives them some sort of humanity to their mistakes idk if this makes sense but yeah that, don't judge a character too soon, try to understand them.

What’s an underrated trope or concept you’d like to see more of? the secret dating, we know they secretly dated and stuff but i feel like it's actually a really fun concept to play with despite their circumstances in the show, it gives you so many possibilities.

What’s your favourite season? And has this changed after multiple rewatches of the show? the early seasons have special place in my heart, so s4-5 and i think gallavich totally saved s7, i love that part of the season

What’s a plot hole you wish had been answered or resolved? i would've loved to see ian healing from the grooming and realizing it was grooming, it would've been nice for the character to heal old wounds and start fresh a new life with mickey in a new neighborhood ready to create new memories

What scene or moment do you feel isn’t discussed enough? the just wondering if we're a couple or not scene, we definitely should discuss more the fact that mickey answered too quickly, he absolutely had been calling ian boyfriend in his head

What line/dialogue/description from something else (a poem, a book, a tv show, a movie, or something else) do you feel describes Ian and Mickey’s relationship? im gonna quote noel fisher and as he said: "Ian's been that kind of guiding angel for Mickey so he's going to have to turn into a pretty much kind of a protective angel for Ian"

What do you think is next for Ian and Mickey post-finale? i think they're gonna learn to communicate even more, they were in really good path already. i think the writers didn't have much faith in them in that aspect but the conversation they have in s11 about going back or not to the new neighborhood made evident that they can communicate, they listen to each other and understand the reasons, each other's feelings. so yeah, i think they're gonna get even better at that and also they're not gonna wait that much to become parents. i think they eventually will find new jobs, ian will have his tomatoes and mickey will adore looking at him doing his thing every sunday morning. i really really think they finally found their peace, their home and are gonna be very very happy and disgustingly in love forever because they're also hopeless romantic and want that so bad.

what first drew you into the fandom? well I actually watched this show when I was in middle school (I think it only had 2~3 seasons at that time), but I didn't have much impressions on it. and last year when I didn't know what to watch, I just rewatched all the shows I hadn't caught up on back then, and I suddenly realized: how didn't I notice that the two of them had such an attractive relationship?! how?! and I just want to see more and create more!

are you a morning person or night owl? I stay up till the day light A LOT, so night owl lol

what are your hobbies? writing, drawing, cooking, playing video games, reading, watching documentaries, and playing volleyball.

how long have you been on tumblr? about 5 years in total I think, I used to use it for about 4 years when I was in middle school and high school, and last year I started using it again

finally (and i know this is hard) tell me a fun fact about yourself: I'm super good at memorizing routes (I memorize them by observing surroundings, if an area hasn't changed much, I can recognize places I've only seen once or twice, even years later), but suck at memorizing roads' names, so basically every time I give directions to others I only describe the objects around.

Hi Ling! Not sure why it took me foreverrr to answer this but here it is!

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc? Mickey has my favorite arc. I mentioned it in a tag somewhere, but I see Mickey's journey as largely revelation rather than transformation. It's more about him embracing authenticity which I think is really relatable at this point in my life? He doesn't need to learn to love or be soft, it's natural for him. He’s good at it. He's just had to hide it for so long. Something, something you come from love and cannot cease to be love. Based on what actually happened on screen? I think Lip got the most interesting story lines (and sometimes more than he needed screen-time wise) and felt the most fleshed out.

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas). I’ve been thinking about putting Gallavich in wilderness situations lately. Like after the army thing doesn’t pan out Ian wants to get out of Chicago and maybe becomes a guide somewhere? I just can’t figure out how or why Mickey would get involved. Idk! I was on Lake Michigan recently and there’s some super pretty stuff in Michigan/the upper peninsula and they live so close. I need them camping and kayaking and building fires. Or on a show like Alone/Outlast. Wilderness survival.

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! I have no idea. 🤷‍♀️ I’m still thinking about my dreamland drabbles. I really want to keep writing it but I’m a little stuck on the how of it all. I have a why I refuse to abandon but I can’t figure out how it works.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Ooof this is a good one, especially since I’ve incorporated a bit of another language in Tender Hearts. I think if it’s done sparingly OR if you can get feedback from a native speaker than I think it’s ok? It has to feel cohesive and necessary as well to me, like not just having it in another language just for the sake of having another language.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

I’m a one OP gal at a time, my heart belongs to them

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

Honestly, it’s a tie between Mickey Milkovich’s Guide to Flirting, and Tender Hearts and Other Maladies. Flirting fic was just so FUN and I honestly did not have any expectations on myself and did not even really expect people to actually be into it, but I really loved writing it.

Tender Hearts has SUCH a big place in my heart because it’s such a labor of love for me and I really enjoy the world building and creating all these interesting elements that go into an AU - it’s also been a refreshing challenge in terms of writing outside my comfort zone and I’m just very much enjoying being creative with it (even if it does take me forever and a day to update 😅)

when did you start watching shameless? june 2021. in the famous dairy queen parking lot.

how did you start getting involved in the gallavich fandom? once i started hyperfixating on getting interested in shameless, i just looked for stuff to reblog and ended up following a couple people. and then a couple more. and then some strange person (affectionate) posted a link to a shameless discord server, so i joined it.

favorite shameless character? (other than ian & mickey of course) mandy! i miss mandy so much. they didn't have to do her dirty like that. and lip, even though i love to make fun of him.

what plotline from the show irked you the most? this is gonna be an unpopular opinion, but svetlana. in all her forms. obviously, i hated her introduction. i hated that she became a main character after that. i really hated the throuple plot line, and i especially hated how it ended. let vee be bisexual, damn.

favorite line from the show? "guess what we've been doing, daddy?"

fanfic(s) you can't stop thinking about? i don't read very many gallavich fics anymore, but mickey milkovich's guide to flirting by @whatwouldmickeydo holds a special place in my heart as my first ever gallafic. also @arrowflier's daily fics.

the best concert(s) you've been to? all of them? concerts are my happy place! my absolute top two would be the idkhow night heat tour, during which dallon weekes held my hand, and the fall out boy m a n i a tour. if i can't see disloyal order performed live again, what's the point? anyway i lied, i also have to add being ten feet away from joe trohman for an hour and a half when i saw the damned things, and the energy in the arena when i saw palaye royale. i would love to see them headline.

☕️ the mickey and fiona friendship you would’ve liked to see &/or whether you think Trevor is unfairly treated in gallavich fics

The Mickey and Fiona friendship I would have liked to see

Listen maybe it's just because Mickey and Fiona are my two favorite characters on the show but I'll forever be bitter that we never got a solid friendship between them. (Fic rec: The broad-shouldered beasts series has a Mickey/Fiona friendship that I absolutely love and it's exactly how I picture it.)

But anyway, if it had gone down how I wanted it to: Mickey and Fiona would have started developing a friendship in S5. There were essences of it and potential in the actual show but it was never really capitalized. They would have bonded over their mutual desire to make sure Ian was okay. Considering how much Fiona values trust and loyalty, I think Mickey sticking by Ian's side through all the shit would have garnered a lot of respect from her towards him. And in turn, I think Mickey would respect how much Fiona sacrificed to take care of her siblings. I could just imagine a scene where Debbie or Carl are making some sort of snide comment about Fiona and Mickey gets sort of defensive because of their ungratefulness and says something like 'you know, I wish I had a Fiona growing up'.

I think Fiona would like Mickey’s honesty. I could imagine a scene sometime after her final goodbye with Jimmysteve where Mickey gives her some tough love but also says that she did the right thing letting him go. He would become someone she'd go to for advice when she fucks up because he's real with her but also isn't overly judgemental like Lip. And as Fiona always gently reminds Mickey to also remember to take care of himself through everything going on with Ian, she slowly becomes the nurturing older sibling that he never had.

Going into season 6, Mickey and Fiona would still be in contact with each other even after he and Ian breakup. (In this universe Mickey doesn't go to prison because I said so.) Fiona doesn't feel like she's betraying Ian's trust by having a friendship with Mickey because she firmly believes that they will get back together eventually. (And once Ian starts getting his shit together, Fiona begins to gently guide him in the direction of reconciliation with Mickey because she knows how much they miss each other). When the stuff with Sean goes down, Mickey is at the wedding and has to be held back by Ian from going after Sean afterwards. (But he at least gets to take great joy in helping the others dump Frank in the river).

Years later, when Ian and Mickey get married, Fiona is there giving them both hugs and happy in the knowledge that at least one person in their family found someone they're truly meant to be with.

Whether I think Trevor is unfairly hated in Gallavich fics

I'm not Trevor's biggest fan and I typically avoid fics with him in it for that reason nowadays lol. So idk much about how recently written fics treat him as a character. But as someone who was around in the fandom after S7 aired, I did read my fair share of fics with Trevor in them during the couple years before Mickey returned in 9x06. And the ones I read...were a mixed bag. Some fics just pointed out Trevor's real flaws and why he and Ian didn't work as a couple but there were also some that overly demonized him or exaggerated his flaws. (And even some that had pretty blatant transphobia thrown into them which were obviously 🤢)

So in conclusion....my answer is yes AND no I guess? I think most fics that I've come across were just being honest. But there were certainly some that took it too far as well.
