Six Piles of Rocks in the Deserts of Leide
Miel hadn’t even really thought about while she’d done it. She’d been on a ride, like she did sometimes when she needed fresh air and time to think, and had stopped for a second near the spot where Delta had last appeared to her… when Miel had fully absorbed her soul.
So there was definitely something divine about the spot. But she still wasn’t conscious of that when she clambered off the bike and knelt in the sand, digging for rocks of the appropriate size. She had to stand up and wander around to keep looking.
When she’d found what she was looking for, and enough of them, she settled onto her knees again and began to construct them—six little stacks of rocks.
She didn’t label them, but she knew as she worked which ones were which. As her hands worked, carefully balancing the hard shapes, aligning their curves and bumps so they would stay sturdy even when the weather shook them, they took forms that followed their function.
They were memorials.
Six of them—one set for her parents, one for the in-laws she never had, one for the Glaives her mom had mourned (… so close to losing her brother, too).
As she worked, their names and what she knew of them echoed in her head.
Amador Lux. Dad. Not a single parent, really, but he did a lot of the daily work of raising me when Mom had to work extra. Because they always needed her at the Citadel. But Dad didn’t complain. He just milked the moments he had both his girls with him for all they were worth. Died, I hear, holding my mom. That didn’t save her, of course, and I don’t think he had any hope to. I think he just wanted her close in their last moments.
She moved onto the next one. Bella Lux. Nee Apis. Forsook taking half the Apis estate and building her own home there to work in the Citadel. Used her name and a few connections to get a good job. Was moved right to admin work with the Glaive. Got married, got pregnant, led Cor Leonis through Gralea remotely. Saved Prompto, with me asleep on her lap. Worked hard as she could for the Crown until there was no Crown to work for. Died where she wanted to be and rarely was—in my dad’s arms. Thank the gods I was safe at school.
Now, these next two were harder. So she just let herself think, rather than reflect on the life she knew.
Soleil Argentum. And for that matter, Etoil Argentum. You guys, frankly, sucked, she thought. I’m eternally grateful you adopted the Nif Infant, but you had so many more obligations, other than just getting him out of Cor’s arms, that you failed at. I think if my mom had known you would let things happen the way they did, she would have made Cor keep Prompto. Or she would have taken him herself, and I’d have had two siblings. So how blessed I am he and I found each other anyway. No thanks to you. Thank you, I suppose, for keeping him alive until I could take over and love him how he’s needed to be loved.
The next set was a little easier. At least she’d met them, knew some good things. She realized her thoughts were more like letters to the deceased than obituaries. Funny, since she’d been colder with her own parents.
Carina. Amanitus. You guys were my mom’s favorite glaives to work with. She said you guys never asked for much, didn’t try to push her around, and were just nice. What I knew of you says that’s true, too. You guys did a lot of good work, and I know you were really sorely missed. Especially by my mom. We’d just lost Uncle Oscan and Aunt Lira, and I think Mom felt like she’d lost two brothers and two sisters when the news came in. Delph misses you guys a ton, too. She was so mad when she found Ulixes’s base that she went berserk. At least, that’s what I heard. I’ve been trying to take good care of her, you know. Thank you for raising one of Insomnia’s best fighters and one of my best friends for as long as you could.
She hadn’t realized she was crying until she sat back on her haunches and wiped the still-falling tears from her cheeks. That must have been a Delta thing, because this wasn’t the first time she’d cried without knowing, like a faucet had been turned on behind her eyes. And she was sure it wouldn’t be the last.
She stood up, brushing off her knees, and looked at the six little rock piles, a memorial to the families lost in Insomnia’s Fall, and the lead-up (well, it was years between what happened to the Aurorises and the Fall, but they were linked). Three sets of parents, their children still sticking together even when what had originally tied them together—the jobs their parents held—no longer affected them, no longer were.
Miel thought it fitting. She had taken the weight of the losses off of Prompto and Delph’s hearts, and brought it here to the desert bluffs, where she, where Delta, could set them down and heal the scars.
She got back on the bike and rode home. She’d have to bring flowers for Bella, Carina, and Soleil for Mother’s Day next month.

Omg ☺️ I’m glad you liked the Iggy one. Honestly While making the Ignis one, I was thinking about doing a Prompto Mpreg headcanon but I didn’t think someone would ask for a Prompto one.
But I will give the the people what they want!! PROMPTO MPREG!! Expect this to be very silly 🙃
Idk where this takes place, I’ll leave it to your imagination ;) just know that no ones dead! Yay everyone lives!!

• Ignis asks Noctis to, as his Best Friend, To help Prompto. Noctis goes to talk to his Best Friend.
•Noct tries to talk to Prompto about his excessive exercise and seemingly lack of appetite but Noctis’s awkwardness and his unintentional nonchalant attitude, doesn’t help and Prompto just ignores his friends concerns.

•”IGGY! I THINK PROMPTO’S WATER BROKE? MAYBE? I DON’T KNOW!”
•”Noct, how about you call the midwife?” Said Ignis calmly. (Let me know if you got that joke 😉)
•Noct calls the midwife, she tell him to bring Prompto to the hospital.
•(weeeeeeeeee wooooooooooo 🚑)
•They figure out pretty quickly that, the baby is coming NOW!

I Got It Covered, Trust Me - FFXV FIC
 Summary:
Gladio decides Iris' new boyfriend has to go, he's an idiot. Iris doesn't agree. Gladio takes matters into his own hands and invites them both over for dinner, and a little chat. What could possibly go wrong?
Notes:
I had a great time doing a little collab with Blackchocomuffin for this piece. Please, go check out their awesome art of Gladio being a good overprotective brother.    ART,
TW: For animal blood on an apron.
Work Text:
The one thing Gladio didn’t take into account was Prompto freaking out. He was covered in blood, so he shouldn’t have been too surprised by the reaction. However, what Gladio didn’t foresee was having to explain everything to Ignis, since he couldn’t see what Prompto was going on about.
“What do you mean he’s bleeding?” Ignis exclaimed rushing forward to try and touch him.
“I’m fine Iggy, babe trust me it’s not even my blood.”
Prompto decided now would be a good time to tell Ignis, in great detail, what he looked like. This did not go well. Namely, because Gladio had decided that Iris’ latest boyfriend needed to go, and his bloodied appearance was directly linked to that.
“First off he’s wearing an apron?” Prompto questioned as he announced it to Ignis like that would instantly explain things. “And it’s covered in blood and what is with the knife big guy? It looks like you murdered someone!” Prompto asked with concern.
“Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on? Do I need to fetch a medic?” Ignis asked, his voice rising higher and higher by the second.
Gladio wanted to pull his partner into a hug, but being covered in blood prevented that action. Guess he’d have to fess up. Gladio was doing so well on his little mini-mission and then Prompto had to swing by unexpectedly.
“Listen, the both of you, just let me explain. I’m uninjured; this is leftover blood from the recent kill at the hunter’s guild.” Gladio paused for a moment when Ignis’ handsome face adopted a very bizarre expression. When the man didn’t say anything Gladio continued. “I’m going to, to, um,” and this is when the sheer stupidness of his idea hit Gladio. He was trying to scare his little sister’s boyfriend so he’d go away. Gods, he was an asshole.  “Er, uh, shit, you’re both gonna say I’m a total jerk, but this is to scare off Todd.”
“Oh,” was all Prompto uttered.
“Todd, as in Iris’ new boyfriend, Todd?” Ignis clarified.
“Yep, that’s the one.”
“Why may I ask, have you decided that Todd must go?” Ignis queried.
“Okay, in Gladio’s defense Todd is an idiot.” Prompto chimed in with a thoughtful look. “He thinks corn and flour tortillas are the same thing. That’s weird.”
Surprised to hear Prompto throw Todd under the bus, Gladio had renewed hope in his plan. “Iggy, all I wanna do is have Todd see me like this so he’ll get freaked and leave Iris alone.”
“What if your plan doesn’t work? What then? I’m not sure Todd seeing you,” Ignis paused and waved his hand around nondescriptly. “As Prompto described you will do anything.”
“Yeah, well, I’ll just have to tie him up and put him in my trunk for a night. He’ll get lost after that for sure.”
“Prompto I can’t tell, is he joking? I fear he’s being serious,” Ignis sighed trying to remain calm.
“Why the apron?” Prompto asked instead.
“Oh! Well, Iris wanted me to officially meet Todd so I told her to bring him over for dinner tonight. The thing is Iggy wasn’t going to know what I looked like, so he could remain innocent when Iris yells at me later.”
“Oh damn, did I screw things up by swinging by?” Prompto queried.
“Aside from destroying Iggy’s alibi, it’s not a big deal Prom.”
“Wait, I’m still lost over here, you are wearing an apron that has been covered in blood? Correct?”
“Yeah, and I’ve got some on my face too to match.”
“Six save me, that’s why you didn’t give me a kiss when you got back earlier. You were trying to spare me from getting dirty.”
“Right, so are we all on board for scaring the shit outta Todd?”
“I can’t imagine this young man is so bad. Though, I’ve never personally met him.”
“He’s not the brightest bulb in the box Iggy,” Prompto admitted. “Did I mention that his brother is a flat eoser? I mean come on that’s terrible enough.”
“Excuse me, he’s a what?”
“No, not him, his brother. You know a flat esoer, someone who thinks the eos is flat.”
Ignis licked his lips and opened his mouth to speak but gave up after a moment.
“So yeah I’ve got maybe twenty more minutes to get real dinner started so I’m a believable cook when they get here,” Gladio supplied quickly.
“Are you not going to explain anything when they arrive?” Prompto asked with a small smile. “How do you see this going?”
“I’m hoping Todd will give me a look that says he’s scared for his life and then I’ll probably make some sorta comment about Iris’ last boyfriend being a troublemaker, and that I took care of em’.”
“And you both claim Todd is an idiot,” Ignis grumbled as he shuffled away to find the couch and sit down.
“Seriously he is! That is why I’m doing this.”
“Do be careful Gladio, she may try and date his brother in retaliation.”
“Nah, Iris wouldn’t do that, she’s too smart for that.”
“At least one of the Amicitia siblings has their parent’s wits.”
Prompto barked out a laugh before Gladio could respond. “Guess I should head out so you can get prepared.  I want to hear all the little details. Ignis, let me know how hard Iris hits Gladio. I know you’ll be able to tell based on the sound.”
Ignis gave Prompto a nod signaling he’d heard and went back to using his phone, listening to the daily reports from the marshal. As quickly as Prompto had arrived he was gone, off to find some of the glaive to relax for the night. They’d all had a busy day and it was time to unwind. Unless as in Gladio’s case, he was attempting to not alienate his litter sister or upset his own boyfriend. It was a fine line he was treading.
--
Time flew after Prompto left, and Gladio soon found that he was not only covered in blood but cooking stains as well. At least they’d have a good dinner, or Ignis would if Iris killed him before they ate. The tall tale sound of footsteps approaching meant the moment of truth had arrived. Grabbing his large carving knife complete with dried blood covering every inch, he waited to hear a knock before he answered.
However, when he shuffled out of their tiny kitchen towards the door Ignis was already standing and waving him back. “Allow me, your reveal will be better from the kitchen,” he whispered while waiting near the door.
Unable to keep the grin from his face Gladio leaned forward and gave Ignis a quick kiss on the lips. “Thanks, babe, you’re the best!” he offered in a hushed tone before retreating back to his spot by the stove.
Ignis merely shook his head and put on his best ‘I know nothing’ face when someone knocked. Iris’ voice rang out a second later announcing their arrival, his little sister was always mindful of Ignis not being able to use the peephole in the door. Forced to turn away from the door Gladio took a deep breath and waited.
“Lovely to hear you again Iris,” Ignis offered easily to which the younger Amicitia laughed brightly. “Ah yes, this must be who we are here to meet, Todd correct?”
A low voice answered, but not loud enough for Gladio to hear well.
“Do come in and make yourself at home, Gladio’s been busy in the kitchen all evening,” Ignis supplied before closing the door.
Thinking of how his dad might have reacted to meeting one of Iris’ boyfriends, Gladio put on his best impression of their late father and spun around to meet Iris and Todd. “So this is the young man you’ve been so enamored with, huh?” Gladio stated before frowning. “I do hope you treat my sister well, she’s a very special lady.”
Nothing but silence filled the room when he finished talking. Iris was looking at him like she wanted to throttle him and Todd; well Todd was just not paying attention. The little shit. The moment he fully turned around to see the rest of the apartment behind him Iris stepped forward and punched Gladio in the arm, hard. Training with Cor was paying off; Iris had a mean right hook.
“Uh, do you need help with anything?” Todd asked with a blank look when he focused again. “I didn’t realize you got so into cooking, you’re like covered, in, um, lots of stuff.”
“Blood, Todd, I’m covered in blood,” Gladio deadpanned in a moment of anger.
“Are we having meat? Oh, I thought Iris told you, I’m a vegan.”
“What?” Gladio asked in confusion. How the hell had this kid not noticed that this was an overly excessive amount of blood to be covered in. Even for cooking.
“You know like someone who doesn’t eat meat or dairy products. Plant-based only.”
“How?” This was bad, this was very bad. Gladio was so thrown off he couldn’t even speak full sentences anymore.
“Oh, uh, I grow a lot of my own food but it’s like really hard and sometimes I don’t eat enough. I mean it’s so dark out all the time, and it’s hard to gro--.”
Gladio had already tuned Todd out, this little brat didn’t even know what it was like to eat meat, let alone butcher it. That, he hadn’t taken into account. This didn’t mean Todd was dumb though, just massively out of the loop. Still, he thought he’d managed to at least look like a horror movie villain. Maybe Todd didn’t watch scary movies either?
“—like that’s how I usually do it, but it’s hard to find tofu sometimes, but I can make fake chicken with flour and that’s not bad. Uh, when are we eating, I have to stick to a strict schedule otherwise my body gets out of whack,” Todd finished with an expectant look.
Sweet shiva, Gladio was starting to seriously consider his options for actually doing away with Todd. Fine, he doesn’t eat meat, but he could at least not be an asshole about it! “Dinner should be ready soon, why don’t you go help Ignis with the wine.”
“I only drink wines that haven’t been aged in wood; do you have anything like that?”
Gladio couldn’t even form words; this guy was a piece of work. Thankfully, Ignis was ready to field that request. His partner guided Todd away towards their modest wine rack to select something. Gladio already knew they didn’t have what Todd wanted. They had nothing Todd wanted. His garula steak pasta sauce paired with egg pasta wasn’t vegan. The bread rolls with cheese baked in most definitely weren’t. Though, why did he care, the little shit could starve, he wasn’t here to make Todd happy! He was trying to make him go away.
The second Todd stepped away with Ignis, Iris got close and promptly kicked him in the shin. Biting back a yell Gladio limped back into the kitchen space. “He’s an idiot!” Gladio hissed under his breath.
“He’s my idiot!” Iris whisper shouted back.
“Can’t you select a different one? He’s sorta rude.”
“I can’t believe you, trying to scare him like this.”
“Well, it didn’t work! See, he’s an idiot!” Gladio huffed excitedly.
“No, he’s not,” Iris growled lowly.
“I look like I mur—Did you two find a good wine?” Gladio asked cheerily when Todd came back over holding a bottle.
“Not sure, the label on this one is too faded for me to tell if it’s been aged in wood barrels or not. I won’t drink it because it’s like cruelty against trees and all. Ignis said there might be a magnifying glass over here for me to try and read the label better?”
“Excuse me? What about trees?” Gladio was well out of his element with this kid, he wasn’t an idiot he was just plain weird. “I don’t think they fe--.”
“I know where there is one!” Iris interjected, “One sec baby let me grab it for you.”
Baby!? Dear lord his little sister was calling this tool bag baby. The world had officially ended. Gladio nearly threw up in his mouth when Todd repeated the name back to Iris. He almost didn’t catch the barely concealed snort from Ignis across the room. Damn him, at least he was having fun.
--
Dinner was a disaster. The more Gladio worked to fluster Todd, the more Iris would fawn over him. Figures, she’d act that way, she was doing this out of spite, he was sure of it. Ignis on the other hand was having the time of his life. When Todd started talking about conspiracy theories, Ignis, who knew every little thing there is to know, easily debunked each and every one.
As the night crawled on, Gladio realized Todd was getting drunk. The kid had only been able to eat the small salad they’d made. He’d declined the dressing since that wasn’t the right way to eat greens. Something about being respectful to their natural state and covering them in oil and vinegar was a huge mistake. This of course made Gladio smother his salad in dressing, just to see if he could elicit a reaction out of the tool bag.
It didn’t work.
Nothing was working, Todd was terrible, but Iris wasn’t going to dump him, he’d failed his mission. However, right when Gladio thought all hope was lost, Todd opened his mouth and proceeded to stick his foot in it. Guess getting drunk had made him a little loose-lipped.
“Gladio,” Todd announced seriously, “You should tell Iris to be careful when she fights. I keep telling her that she won’t look good with battle scars.”
“Sometimes you have no choice but to take up arms buddy, it’s the way things are nowadays,” Gladio answered meaningfully. “We’ve sworn an oath to protect the people and that may come at a cost.”
“Yeah, yeah, but like for Iris specifically, she shouldn’t fight, it’s not right.”
“What?” Gladio and Iris asked in unison.
“Baby, hear me out, I like you and all but like you can’t keep fighting, what if you get scars like your brother? You won’t be pretty anymore.”
The deathly silence that followed Todd’s proclamation was the best thing Gladio had heard all night. Maybe things were turning around after all. Todd wasn’t an idiot. He was a duche bag. Even better!
--
Iris had cried a few times since Ignis had asked Todd to leave after his comment. Something about having an angry blind man remove his visor, and pointedly stare at you left little room for argument. Ignis’ bold move had done more than Gladio’s bloodied apron had even come close to achieving. Todd’s utter look of fear at being singled out was a thing of pure joy to behold. Gladio didn’t like that it came at the expense of his sister's feelings, but Todd needed to go.
“Is he blind?! Sorry Ignis but I’m still in shock,” Iris lamented. “I mean you both clearly have visible scars, why would he say something so, so rude.”
“He’s a douche bag, that’s why!” Gladio cut in.
“It’s alright, that wine he drank had been aged in an oak barrel for at least fifteen years. He had to go on my word that it hadn’t been,” Ignis added calmly.
“You lied to him?” Gladio asked with a smile.
“I may have fibbed; I can’t be expected to keep all my wine bottles straight. I’m unable to read any of the labels personally so I can’t really be blamed.”
“Who doesn’t use dressing on salad, that’s stupid,” Iris mumbled a second later.
“I knew you’d come around! Come on let us find you a nice normal boy to date. Iggy and I will invite them over for a nice din--.”
“NO! No, no, no I’m fine. Gladio you stay outta my business,” Iris cut in, though she was smiling a little.
Laughing loudly Gladio pulled Iris over, nearly toppling her chair, for a proper hug. “Okay truce, I won’t go actively hunting for a boyfriend for you, but can you at least trust us when we tell you they might be an idiot?”
“Maybe, just don’t do the bloodied apron knife thing again, that was awful.”
“What did he look like? I’ve had Prompto describe his look but I’d like to hear it from you, if I may.”
Iris happily obliged and described all of Gladio’s elaborate planning, down to the black trash bags on the counter with a sticky label on them that read ‘Todd’. Prompto hadn’t noticed those.
By the time she’d finished and they’d cleaned up everything Gladio decided he could break out dessert. No reason to waste his efforts. Iris merely rolled her eyes when he took out a plate of simple sugar cookies that he’d decorated with little radioactive symbols. “What?! It was a backup plan in case Todd hadn’t figured out things.”
“Ignis, he’s made cookies with the hazardous symbol all over them. Do you think we are safe to eat them?”
“Oh that’s what you were doing,” Ignis exclaimed with a smile. “Yes, they should be palatable. I helped with those. I didn’t realize what Gladio intended to use them for. He added the decoration afterward, I believe.”
“You are such a dork Gladio. Thanks for looking out for me though.”
“Anytime Iris, Iggy, and I are here for ya no matter what.”
Iris leaned over and gave him another hug. “Sounds good, but there is one thing I gotta know,” pausing she pulled away. “Where the hell did you get all that blood?!”

FFXV Fic - Anamnesis - Cor Leonis & Prompto Argentum
A/N: I am excited to share this one with you guys! This, is the piece that I got to write for the @thelionsigil - a Cor Leonis Zine. (My first Zine! *vibrates again*)
The team of mods was absolutely awesome to work with, and there’s so much amazing talent in one spot that I fangirled pretty hard. Not gonna lie. =p
So, now that the Zine has shipped, I can finally post this here. And when I got to write some Papa Cor I was excited to say the least!
Characters: Cor Leonis & Prompto Argentum Warnings: None Word Count: 1518 Summary: Cor sits with Prompto in Lestallum during a moment of respite from their hunts, and he comes to reflect over things in his past.
Things that maybe he could have done differently, especially where Prompto is concerned...
Tumblr media
It wasn’t often that memories came flooding back to him like this, but he supposed it was the present company he was keeping. Cor sighed quietly through his nose, knowing all too well that the reason the young man sitting next to him doubted himself so much was because of him.
Cor was positive it was his choices that had set the ball rolling with Prompto’s self doubt.
"This is my fault.."
Cor looked down at the small child that was swaddled underneath his thick coat. He could feel Clarus’ eyes on him as he moved his arms to press the small child more firmly against his chest at its soft whine.
“Your fault or not, I am assuming you know what must be done?” Clarus asked softly.
Cor had said, repeatedly, that he was not good with children, and yet the child only seemed to stop crying when he’d swaddled him up and tucked him in close to his chest. He was confused at the amused smiles the others gave him when he’d try to pass the child to someone else, the boy would let off the loudest, wailing cry he’d ever heard.
“I will not allow the child to die,” He lifted his eyes to look at Clarus, “I will take responsibility.”
“You?” Clarus seemed surprised by that answer, but the smile on his face said otherwise.
Looking down again as the child let off another soft whine, Cor gently reached into his coat to run his fingers slowly across the top of the baby's head. Slowly, the baby’s fussing gave way to a soft, burbling noise instead.
The child smelled like frost to him, almost like the promise of winter to come. Yet there was the distinct metallic tang of blood that went with it, and that made him wonder what was in store for the child in the future.
Suddenly, the child let out a loud, whine-filled cry.
“Ah, that’s a sound I am familiar with,” Regis’s voice gently pulled Cor from his thoughts as he lifted his eyes, “If you are to take responsibility, then you must make sure that they are well fed and cared for. Is that something that you think you can do?”
“If I feel that I am incapable, I will find someone who is.”
He wasn’t incapable. But with his duty to the crown it would be unfair for the child to be alone all the time.
“H-hey Cor? You alright?”
“I’m fine.”
“We’ll find the best family for the child. They will be well taken care of.”
Cor felt himself hesitate as Prompto nuzzled against him, giving off a soft sleepy noise. “He. Prompto. Call him by his name.”
“F-fine,” The representative from child services fidgeted a bit on their feet, “H-His foster parents may change it, just so you are aware.”
With a nod Cor stepped closer. “Will I be able to visit him?”
“Yes. I do not see that as a problem.”
“Good.”
Cor gently passed Prompto over to the representative, making sure they held him the way he’d been taught by Regis last week. He hesitated again when Prompto had started to cry.
This was for the best. Yet he wondered why he was trying so hard to convince himself...
“You sure?”
Cor hummed softly, “Cross my heart and hope to die.”
“Wh...W-What?”
Turning his head to look over at Prompto, he couldn’t help but smirk as Prompto’s eyes widened as his face lit up with a smile that outshined the lights around the city.
“Oh gods,” Prompto laughed a little as he started to fidget with a bracelet on his wrist. “I-I mean, that was—I remember asking you to pinky swear as a kid with that saying.”
Cor’s eyes drifted down to Prompto’s wrist only to feel his breath slightly hitch.
“Cor! You came!”
With a bit of a grunt Cor laughed quietly as Prompto flung himself at him and wrapped his small arms about his waist. He gently ruffled the young boy’s hair. “Sorry I’m late…”  When he glanced about the house, he frowned at how quiet and dark it was.
“They—uh—had to run and get s-some things! B-But they’ll be back!”
Cor placed his hand on Prompto’s shoulder and gave it a light squeeze, knowing that Prompto had been alone most of the day. Again. He lowered himself down to one knee to be eye-level with him, and gently held out a long thin box.
“...Happy Birthday, Prompto.”
Prompto’s face lit up into the brightest smile Cor had ever seen as he quickly took the box and ripped off the wrapping. For a moment, Cor feared that Prompto wouldn’t like his gift. But then the boy's arms were flung about his neck.
“Cor!! Th-Thank you! So much!”
Cor nodded, “I promise to never miss one of your birthdays.”
“You do?”
“Yes.”
“Pinky swear!”
“ 'Pinky swear' ?”
“Yes!” Prompto stepped back and held up his little finger, “Wrap your pinky ‘round mine and say ‘cross my heart and hope to die.’ It means you can never break your promise!”
Snorting out a little laugh at the serious look Prompto was giving him, Cor gently wrapped his pinky around the boy’s and gave him a smile. “Alright then. I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die...”
“I’m surprised you still have that.” Cor glanced at the bracelet around Prompto’s wrist.
“Even if it fell apart, I’d keep it,” Prompto said softly as he ran his finger between the strap of leather that wrapped twice around his wrist, “I mean, it was the best birthday present I’d ever gotten as a kid. There’s no way I’d lose it.”
Cor looked away, out towards the darkness again; not that there was anything to really look at beyond the lights that kept the daemons at bay, but he felt he couldn’t look at Prompto after hearing that.
If that thin bit of leather was the best thing he’d ever gotten—then he’d failed.
He’d failed Prompto worse than he’d failed his kings.
“It’s—it’s been my lucky charm ever since you gave it to me.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah! ‘Cause…well, shortly after you gave this to me, I found Tiny—I mean Pryna-and got to know Noctis and the rest of the guys. I-I don’t think it would’ve happened if you hadn’t given this to me.”
Cor’s brows furrowed as he wondered if he’d raised Prompto, would Prompto be as bright and friendly? Or would he have become more stoic and methodical like he himself was. It was a strange thought, and for some reason it caused a snort of laughter to pass his lips.
“Even if that bracelet brought you luck, it was you that got yourself where you are,” He felt himself smile as he turned his head to look at the young man. “You know I’m proud of you, right?”
Prompto’s face shifted through several emotions before he quickly looked back at his bracelet and spun it slowly around his wrist. Sighing, Cor looked back out into the darkness.
“Whoa! I just got praised.. By the Immortal!”
“Don’t take that as leave to slack off. You’re only as good as your last battle.”
“Er...yes, Sir! I’ll keep at it, Sir!”
“I’m proud of you not only because of how far you’ve come, and what you’ve achieved, but because of who you are. He’ll come back, and when he does, he’s going to want you at his side.”
“I know,” came Prompto’s soft reply as Cor turned his head to look at him. “Thanks. Y’know? For just—for being here. For being there for me when I was younger. W-when you could...”
I wasn’t there enough for you. Much like I wasn’t there enough for them. I should have—
“I mean—this is kinda—Ok so...thank you. For—For being a Dad.”
Cor found himself at a loss for words, before he managed a soft “...What?”
“Even though you were busy you made time for me. Like on my birthdays. You always—you never treated me like I wasn’t human. You’ve never treated me like I wasn’t worth something...and I’m positive that saved my life.”
Each word hit him harder than the last, and Cor found he couldn’t look away from Prompto. He didn’t deserve that praise. He—
“I mean it. It’s...why I’ve always kinda looked up to you. Wanted to be like you. ‘Cause you don’t give up. No matter what. No matter how hard it gets. And you kinda...gave me that courage, I-I guess.”
“I...see…”
“I-I mean, I don’t w-want to call you ‘D-Dad’ and stuff, I just mean—”
“I wouldn’t mind that.”
“Wh-What?”
“I...I wouldn’t mind if you did.”
“O-Oh…Oh.”
Cor felt himself smile again and looked out into the darkness once more, his chest starting to swell with an emotion he couldn’t really place his finger on. It wasn’t pride, it was something else. Something more.
And it empowered him.
Now, I understand entirely why you did those things for Noctis, Regis.
I swear… I will protect them all.

Dad -
Any day now I’m going to be a father . . . It doesn’t seem real . After everything that Luna and I have been through , the fact that we’re going to be parents it - . . . it seems like a battle we’ve finally won . It wasn’t easy , these last nine months . Luna got sick a lot of the time and it felt like we were having doctors check in on her every day . She’s doing okay , though , only time will tell when the the due date comes .
What was mom like when I was being born . . . ? Did she ever get really sick . . . ? Were you prepared to be a father ? I guess . . . Nothing can really prepare you for being a parent , huh ? At least , that’s what Ignis tells me . . .
I guess I should mention we’re having a daughter . I’m banking on that she will look more like Luna than me . We’ve decided on a name already . It’s Lynora . It’s a combination of both my name and Luna’s name , if you can believe it . The guys are already willing to help me with parent - hood . Especially Ignis and Gladio , since they’ve been doing it a little longer than I have . Prompto’s a parent too . I know . . . We’ve all grown up . He’s got a son who was just born . He looks just like Prompto too . Soon all three of them will be playing together . Get Iris and Talcott to have a child together and then all four of them will be just like the four of us were .
I’m nervous and excited . . . I can’t wait to meet our daughter . I can’t wait for you to see her too , dad .
I miss you .
Your son ,
Noctis .
● – || My muse will reveal one of their biggest regrets involving yours.
Noctis’ biggest regret is being the reason that his daughter is wheelchair bound after he allowed her to try on the ring . While he only witnessed her suffering for a short while before he passed away , he passed away with the guilt in his heart that the ring he was destined to pass down rejected her , despite her being of his bloodline . Though he never told anyone , it ate him alive .
● – || For a song that reminds me of our muses.
Dear Theodosia from Hamilton.
Dear Theodosia, what to say to you ? You have my eyes , you have your mother’s name .  When you came into the world you cried and it broke my heart. I’m dedicating everyday to you .  Domestic life was never quite my style, When you smile, you knock me out , I fall apart --  and I thought I was so smart . You will come of age with our young nation , We’ll bleed and fight for you , we’ll make it right for you . if we lay a strong enough foundation , we’ll pass it on to you , We’ll give the world to you and you’ll blow us all away .  Someday . . . Someday . . . Yeah , you’ll blow us all away .

Thanks to @whumptober2020 for their hard work at organizing the challenge! I’m so excited to participate this year! =D
Whumptober Day 01-02
Theme: ‘Let’s hang out sometimes’ + ‘In the hands of the enemy’
Prompts: ‘Waking up restrained’ +  ‘Kidnapping’
Fandom: Final Fantasy XV
Word count: 2264
Summary: Prompto opened his eyes to the sight of blood spots on his white shoes. The very same pair of sneakers that he had begged Cor to purchase for him as a gift at the beginning of the school year. Cor, who was neither his father nor his foster parent, but who looked after him like a godfather anyway. Cor, who abhorred spending unnecessary funds on trinkets, but ended up paying a pair of shoes a third of his wage just because they were trendy and Prompto had wanted to look cool. Barely one semester in, and Prompto got them ruined.
Prompto opened his eyes to the sight of blood spots on his white shoes.
He had made him promise to take good care of it, at the very least, because it was useless to spend this amount of money in mere shoes if they didn't last the whole school year at least.
Barely one semester in, and Prompto got them ruined.
His internal laments were cut out by pain. Like a wake-up call, his brain finally registered that he was sitting in a very uncomfortable chair. Around him, nothing but plain, dented walls of some sort of warehouse. The door was locked, a brand new padlock glistening in the beam of sunlight.
Fear rose in his throat like bile.
Prompto lurched against the ropes binding him, straining his neck to get a better look through the window. He could barely see the top of some skyscrapers further away, and the sky. Was he that high? Was he in some kind of abandoned parking lot?
There was a district full of this kind of building near the checkpoint entrance of Insomnia. Prompto had never set foot in this area. It was rumoured to be haunted by the old people in the Niff District. Noctis had promised him it only was an urban legend, that it was empty because no one wanted to build a house this close to the gates, where fights would happen should deamons or niffelheim army sneak past the Wall.
Noctis! He smiled at the thought of this friend. Didn't Noctis explain to him what to do in case of kidnapping?
"Don't provoke them. Keep a low profile and give them what they want until rescue comes to get you," Noctis had recited in an obviously bored sigh. "Look at them and your surroundings. Try to gather as much information as you can. If you can communicate, try to give as much information as possible about your location. If they leave you behind, keep hidden until sunlight and get to the nearest place with a phone. Only act against them if it's your last resort."
That wasn't very useful to him, Prompto thought. !there was no one to make demands. Not that he could grant any, anyway.
He tried to move but the chair had been screwed down to the concrete. Grumbling in defeat, he looked around for another option, until his eyes found the door and its padlock again.
Wait. How come he could see the padlock? Shouldn't it be outside?
A wave of dread ran through his body and made his skin crawl.
If it was inside, it could only mean that, whoever had taken him there, had locked the both of them in.
After a long minute where terror froze him into place, he tried to turn around. A large wood board had been screwed on the back of the chair, preventing him to fully see what was behind him. He craned his neck as much as he could, his eyes turned so far back he felt they would just pop out of his head, he managed to glimpse at a tinted mirror. From the look of it, Prompto imagined it was large enough to cover most of the wall.
His stomach twisted. If there was a door to access the other side, it probably was right behind him.
How many were they? Were they watching him? He could imagine their stares burning his neck through the wood board.
The sob escaping his lips took him by surprise. He valiantly tried to blink back the tears but they fell anyway, tracing burning tracks on his cold cheeks. The empty room suddenly felt freezing, extracting another full-body shiver out of him. He didn't dare to speak up. Whatever they wanted, Prompto couldn't give it to them. Not that he would have wanted to, anyway.
They probably expected him to be able to provide information about Noctis, he realized.  Maybe they would even ask for ransom. His face had appeared enough times in tabloids, trotting along with the Prince, for them to understand Noctis would go to great length to retrieve him.  Too bad for them. The only information he knew about Noctis that was public was his love for fishing and tomato-flavoured chips. No one would have been stupid enough to let a civilian like him get access to security data. If there were in for the money, though, he wasn't sure about what would happen. Certainly, King Regis wouldn't let an underage civilian,  especially a friend of his son, in the hands of his kidnappers. He wouldn't pay, though. If he sent the Kingsglaive, Prompto wasn't sure what would happen to him in the crossfire.
Hope bloomed in his chest when his internal voice of reason - which has suspiciously started to sound like Ignis as of late - reminded him they could do it for intimidation. To prove they could get close to the Prince. Anti-Crowners. They would have left him there.
Metal scratching the concrete dashed all hope away. Someone had opened a door.
Someone had opened the door right behind him.
His world went spinning and stopped whirling at the same time. There was nothing to feel but the utter terror blossoming in his belly when the man came into vision.
"Prompto Argentum." He knew what fearing for his life meant, now that his own name had left the man's lips. "Good afternoon, kid. You slept for a very long time. My buddies and I were wondering if we might have roughened up you a bit too much."
The blood on his shoes, Prompto realized. It came from somewhere, of course. He felt bad overall, but no place hurt more than another, so he assumed they hadn't beaten him up that much. It wasn't like he remembered how they got him there.
"Do you know why you're there, Argentum?"
He shook his head. The man grinned and snickered.
"He doesn't know why he's here! What an unassuming boy!". His hands plumped on Prompto's shoulders, all amused attitude vanished from his face. "Are you serious?"
Prompto couldn't get a word out, but that didn't seem to matter to the man. He turned back, leaving Prompto with a bad case of trembling knees, and started rambling.
"What a joke. He doesn't know!" The coldness of the man's glare would have been enough to pin Prompto down to his damned chair if he hadn't been tied up already. Prompto had seen Coeurls on Lucian Geographic who looked less murderous than his perpetrator.
"You're the bestie of the Prince and you don't have a clue what business we could have with you, kid?" A raucous laugh that didn't sound right ricocheted against the walls.
"Guess what? You're a lucky one. We're not bad guys. We don't care about the Prince. He is a kid too, and we're not child murderers. No need to be scared of us. We just want information about a man, and you happen to know a lot about him. Right, Argentum?"
Names and faces flashed through his mind. Who could he know that would have that much importance to that man? He didn't know the King personally, hadn't met him yet. Neither did he know Gladio's dad. The man probably didn't mean Ignis, because even if Iggy was the future Chamberlain, he wasn't one yet, and anyway he was barely legal so he didn't have time to do anything some crazy old man would want to...
"Seems like the Immortal is quite fond of you."
What?
"The Immortal?" He heard himself whisper, bewildered.
"Yes, the Immortal. Fancy that you know him. We've been tracking the little Prince for a while just to catch him. Seems like a busy man. Even if he's the head of the bloody royal security, we never saw him in a mile radius of the prince."
The man laughed and squeezed Prompto's shoulder. Hard.
"And here you come! The Immortal never visits the Prince, but Uncle Cor sure wouldn't miss the chance to take his dear nephew shopping, Imma right? Or are you his son, maybe?"
"I'm not. I'm really not!" He insisted, feeling the man digging his fingers deeper into his shoulder, making him wince in pain.
"Sure thing you aren't, kid. Why would the Immortal spend his time with you then?"
"I swear I'm not! I'm niff! The Crownsguards took me back in Insomnia when my parents were killed in Gralea!"
His pleas only made the man angrier.
"Likely story, eh? Someone like him wouldn't spend so much time with you if you weren't linked somehow."
A series of impatient knocks on the tinted mirror interrupted him.
"OK, kid. I just have a few questions about daddy dearest." If he ever made it out alive, Prompto would never laugh at B-Movies lines ever again - in real life those were downright terrifying to hear.
"Where does the Marshal live?"
Where did-Where did Cor live?
The walls of his apartment were painted with a light yellow. In the evening, the living room gleamed in the golden light.  Being perched on the 32nd floor, it felt like being nestled in a cocoon nest, unreachable and above the clouds. Prompto had stayed the night a few times, whenever Mrs Argentum had to go away and needed him to be watched and every time he had managed to snatch a handful of amazing sunsets snippets. It didn't hurt Cor hid a fantastic collection of photography books in his office and could make a killer paella.
It seemed crazy people wouldn't know where it was situated. As far as Pormpto knew, the location wasn't a state secret. He wasn't an important person either. No matter what Noctis said, Cor wasn't exempted from following the rules. If the location of his apartment was deemed sensitive information, Prompto would never have been allowed up there.
"I don't know," he heard himself say, anyway.
"You don't know?"
"I don't know," he repeated, feeling a bit more sure of himself despite the tremors of his voice. "I suppose he has an apartment in the Citadel or something."
Next thing he registered was pain.
The punch would have sent him flying if the chair hadn't been screwed onto the ground. His vision turned blurry from the tears and he could hear the man yelling and yelling, but could not concentrate enough to understand what he was saying.
"Think you're funny, little shit? Think this is a joke?!"
"Calm down Dan." A new voice piped in. "Not gonna help if he can't answer."
"Do you know where he lives?"
"N-No." He kept his eyes on the ground.
A kick to his knee tore a cry from his throat. Finger dug hard at his jaw, forcing his chin up.
"For a Niff you're quite loyal, aren't you?" He shoved him back, dirty nails scratching Prompto's cheeks. "Perfect. Then if you don't know where he lives, you can tell me where he works, right?"
"The-The Citadel?"
"And how does he get his orders?"
"By phone -I think he has some by the phone. the secured stuff. And - hum, he gets summoned by the King sometimes."
Wasn't it common knowledge? Or was trying to coerce some other information from him with those questions? He hoped not. Had he revealed sensible information?
"This number...is it his secure phone, or his personal mobile."
A screen was pushed under his nose - Prompto hadn't even noticed the other guy walking in! - with Cor's name flashing right at him. Despite the new crack on said screen, he immediately recognized his own phone.
"It's...I don't know. I've never asked, "he stammered. "I think it's his personal phone?"
"Does he usually pick up right away when you call him, or does he call you back?"
The new man spoke with a heavy accent, Lucian accent. His calm demeanour was throwing Prompto off. The violence and the rage of the other man, that was what Prompto expected from a kidnapper. What was up with this guy? And what kind of questions were these?
"I- we - I mostly text him and he calls me back."
They couldn't do anything with that kind of information, right?
Wrong.
Wrong, he realized, when the new guy threw a punch and took a picture of his crying face.
Wrong, he realized, when he made a show of tapping the 'send' button. The tiny arrow icon flashed blue a few times before the picture was sent to Cor.
Wrong, wrong, wrong wrong...
Seconds grained like sand into an hourglass, stretching as they fell, until the screen lighted up back to life, displaying the text as 'read'.
Immediately his phone started vibrating.
He didn't need to see the ID to know who was calling. The cruel smile spreading on the new guy's face was telling enough. Before he could do or say anything, though, the two men left and snapped shut the door behind them. He strained his ears but quickly gave up. Walls of concrete didn't let pass many sounds, let alone distinct conversation.
With nothing but fear and uncertainty for entertainment, he went back to staring holes at his bloody shoes.

The Man and The Witch Chapter 2
WARNING
The story below depicts violence self-harm and triggering topics. Read at your own risk.
———————————————————————
After she ate she sat in the tent with the four boys. She went to stand and the shirt fell. “Jesus! No no, keep the shirt on!”, Prompto yelled. She grabbed it and covered then sat back down. “Okay, so I guess we introduce ourselves now.”, Noctis said. “I’m Noctis, this is Prompto and Ignis and Gladio.”, he said looking at her. “What’s your name?” Prompto said. She held out her wrist and it was a picture of a moon. It said Alune in faint letters underneath it. “What is, Alune?.” Gladio asked. She pointed to herself poking her chest. “You’re Alune?” Ignis asked carefully looking at her wrist. “Where do you live? How did you get here?”, Gladio asked roughly looking at her and sharpening Ignis’ dagger. She looked at him and the weapon then formed a dagger that looked like his. “Um, ok doesn’t tell us much but, you can make things?”, Noctis said. She nodded and softly spoke. “Yes.” They looked at each other and sighed. “We have a lot of work to do here.”, Noctis said sitting down. They spoke for hours and hours until sunrise trying to understand who she was. They knew her name but not much more. She appeared to only know Yes and no, and some other words. Ignis believed it was from trauma but Alune knew it wasn’t. That’s all she knew to say, her childhood was blurry but she remembers bits and pieces. One of the memories is more clear than the others. She was tested on by a scientist in Insomnia. “So, do you have parents? Or any family?”, Ignis asked carefully cleaning an open wound on her leg. She shakes her head no and looks at Noctis. She grabs his arm and looks at the small cut on it. Her eyes flicker to a soft green color and the wound on his arm is healed but left a scar. “How did you do that?!”, Noctis asked looking at her and pulling his arm away. He looked at his arm and then to his friends. “Come with me.”, he tells them and then gets up to walk to the fire outside the tent. “What's up?”, Prompto asks. “Do you think Luna sent her? Maybe Gentiana?”, he asks them. “I doubt it Noct, there are many people who wield magic that are from Insomnia. Maybe she just got lost.”, Ignis says pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “Well she can’t speak, is very powerful with magic, and very pretty. I say we take her with us as long as she doesn't slow us down.”, Gladio said still not quite trusting her. “Then she will need some clothes.”, Noctis says looking at his friends hoping they have an idea for where to get them. “Iris is close by, we can ask her before they head to Caeum.”, Gladio said walking back to the tent to grab some things. “Someone has to stay here with her. She can’t go in public like that.”, Ignis stated. “I’ll stay.” Noctis offered walking to the tent and climbing in. “Then it's settled. We best head out.”, Ignis said walking with the two boys to the Regalia.

Link
Cor brings back a killing machine dressed in a boy's soft skin and blonde hair, and he just hopes Regis doesn't wring his neck. But hey, at least Noctis likes his new playmate, because having a cyborg buddy is pretty rad.
Pairing: Prompto & Noctis, Prompto & dad!Cor Rating: G
When Cor brought the half-child back to Insomnia, clothing him in one of his own shirts that had to be knotted at the bottom, he wasn’t sure what Regis would say. He had expected a reprimand, an order to burn the machine dressed in rubber skin and nylon hair, or maybe to turn him over to the Citadel’s underground laboratories for immediate dissection.
Instead, Regis lowered his knees and placed a gentle hand on the small thing’s shoulder. “You look to be the same age as my son. Would you like to meet him?”
When the half-child nodded his head with such silent enthusiasm, Cor forgot he had been the same one who shot half a magazine into a MT that caught the Marshal off guard, knocking him onto his back and raising its punishing axe into the air — only to have bullets drilled into its head in rapid succession. It had been jarring, really, to see a child of Noctis’ age holding an assault rifle in perfect form, despite his body and arms being far too small to carry such a massive gun. Delivering all headshots too.
“I have a firearms program installed.” Prompto had explained once they were in the all clear, using the barcode on his wrist to unlock an emergency exit. “Handguns, rifles, snipers. Bazookas too. Oh man, the bazookas are fun. ”
“I thought you were a child. I never saw an MT so —”
“Sentient? I’m still a prototype, but I’m the second AI Dr. Besithia’s created.”
“Second?”
“First one went bonkers, tried to kill everyone after ranting about humanity killing the earth. Guess his second one won’t work out either. I’m sick of this place; way too cold and no chocobos around.”
Never did Cor think he’d bring back a killing machine turned royal playmate for Noctis, but here he was. Watching two boys chase each other in the garden and dart between hedges and trees. One would think His Majesty would have at least a few qualms about letting a soulless cyborg hang around his one and only heir, child-shaped or not.
“You brought him home, Cor.” Regis looked at him with a half smile and a raised brow. “I trust your decisions. You and Clarus have kept me alive thus far, no?”
Despite the reassurance, Cor knew the intonations and inflections of his king’s tone to realize when there’s a threat laced in his words. And there it was, hidden under the layer of a friendly jab, poking death spikes through the blanket of a jolly smile and a warm hand clasped on Cor’s shoulder — which, had a very good grip.
“Dad! Dad, look at this!”
Noctis ran up to them, Prompto skipping after him, waving his phone in the air, padded thick with the strongest phone case royal currency could buy. Nevermind childish clumsiness, the boy tended to use his phone as his tether to throw and practice his warping. Cor had long lost count the trips made to repair shops and the electronics department, when the broken phone was beyond salvaging and a new one was needed.
“Shifted through some lines, took a few backdoors,” Prompto said, looking up at Regis as he took the phone and scrolled down the screen. “A mobile game’s security is a cakewalk compared to like, a government’s secret database. Did I ever mention I have a hacking thing installed? No? Oh, well now you know.”
Cor coughed into his fist, pointedly averting his eyes away from the King and his neutral hum of acknowledgment.
“How lovely. Try not to get into too much trouble though, alright?” Regis stooped down and handed Noctis his phone back, running a gentle hand in the boy’s hair and tussling the soft styling his caretakers had nitpicked over. Noctis squeaked, batting a small hand at his father’s, but smiled nonetheless.
Regis may have been looking at his son, but his words were meant for another. Both Cor and Prompto didn’t miss the glance that was shot over to the little blonde's way, and the boy only winked in response.
“C’mon, Noct, let’s get you some more five-star characters.” Prompto tugged at the hoodie of Noctis’ jacket, leading him over to the gazebo where the servants were already setting up lunch. “Are those cucumber sandwiches? Neat, I’m starving.”
Cor heard a young prince’s grumblings about vegetables grow distant as the two boys hurried away, Noctis lured into promises of high-leveled characters and Prompto into plates of little sandwiches and sweet cakes.
“Ah, using nicknames already. Charming.” Regis smiled fondly at the distant figures, but the warmth quickly faded when he turned his attention back to Cor.
Few things made his lion’s heart turn soft and meek like an abandoned kitten in the rain, and though they had spent their childhoods and now adulthoods together, Regis' ominous deeper-than-the-void smile that froze over the most heated council debates, where one look could subdue its members into silent submission, was one of those things. Sometimes, Cor caught himself wondering when exactly the petulant prince had turned into this fearsome king, had grown from a spoiled boy crying over creepy crawlies and dime-sized bruises to a man befitting his name and singlehandedly powering the magic blanketing the kingdom.
"Cor," Regis said, his light tone a thin veil over the sharp threats beneath, "I'm sure you'll be taking good care of that boy?"
In other words, "raising" Prompto to be anyone other than a machine gone haywire and murdering everyone like his failed predecessor.
Cor doesn't have much parenting experience under his belt, despite all his other skills gained from years of training and survival and keeping Regis' alive through all their shenanigans together. Woe it was to be an only child, he thought, but at least he had something to work off of being with Regis and Clarus through their days of reckless youth — even if Weskham and Cid had held most of their collective brain cells and Cor had been the most brazen of them all, challenging anything with a pair of limbs to a fight.
"Of course," came the immediate response. But even without Regis' silent promise of retribution, Cor had been planning on taking Prompto under his wing, or at the very least, responsibility for him. He never considered fatherhood, but something about a boy trapped in a cold metal laboratory and surrounded by lifeless soldiers struck a chord in him, despite said boy being neither human nor boy. Prompto was an interesting amalgam of technology and organic parts spliced together through a madman's genius, speaking and breathing according to the lines of code written into his processor; his small body and innocent face that of a child's but mind a vast database of secrets and knowledge galore.
"Splendid!" Regis clapped his hands together, gone that eerie smile the very second he tossed an arm around Cor's shoulders, turning them over to the boys' trail. "Now, let's see if we can't have a few of those sandwiches ourselves before your Prompto eats them all up first."
Cor figured the sandwiches wasn't the only thing the boy would eat up. It may even cost him some sanity and a few years of his life to look after a dangerous android suddenly turned son — and that word alone fills him with an odd feeling he'll have to thoroughly inspect some other time — but he at least knew he'd rather have Prompto here in Insomnia instead of some whacked out Niff lab with some whacked out scientist.
And when they slid into the seats beside the boys, Regis to Noctis' left and Cor to Prompto's right, and he watched Noctis coo and aww over the technological magic Prompto weaved into the phone game, Cor can only make shopping plans for the newest addition to the Leonis family.

Book Two: Famine (Prompto x Reader) Chapter Six
A/n: (M/n) means mother's name and (F/n) means father's name. Just a small FYI for later on in the chapter. Hope you all enjoy! Love you all!!! ••••••••••••••••••••
Prompto fell from the train, taking (Y/n)'s lifeless body with him. He screamed as he fell and his entire body ached when his back slammed against the ground. Famine's body landed a few feet away from him, a bullet hole between her eyes. The wound on her arm healed before Ardyn had pulled the trigger to fire the second bullet. All that was left was the single hole in her head.
The blonde grunted in pain as he pushed himself up and searched for (Y/n). When he found her corpse, he scrambled over to her and cradled her body in his arms. "(Y-Y/n)...?" He stared into her lifeless, (e/c) eyes, trailing a hand through her golden locks. He saw no sign of the bullet wound healing and felt tears threatening to fall. He nuzzled his nose into her cold cheek, a few tears escaping their prison and trailing down his cheeks. His bottom lip quivered as he tried to keep from crying out.
Carefully, Prompto gathered (Y/n) into his arms and carried her body away from the tracks. He reached an abandoned house that was located not far from the tracks and pushed open the door with his foot. He wandered inside and laid the Horseman's body against the wall beside the door. Reluctantly, he left her to check around the house.
In the bedroom, he found spare clothes that were meant to be worn in cold weather. He even discovered a black beanie in the pile of clothes. Grabbing the clothes, he wandered back into the living room where he left (Y/n). Placing the outfit down, he kneeled in front of the girl and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. Eyes filled with sorrow, he leaned forward and rested his forehead against her shoulder. "I'm sorry, (Y/n)."
"What are you apologizing for?"
Prompto lifted his head from her shoulder, crystalline eyes wide when he heard her gentle voice. Once lifeless, her (e/c) eyes now glistened beautifully. A smile bloomed on the boy's face as he wrapped his arms around her in a tight hug. "I-I thought... I thought..."
(Y/n) wrapped her arms around his torso and rested her chin on his shoulder. "The brain is a bit more complicated when it comes to the healing process. Sorry for the scare, Prompto."
He continued to hold her close, refusing to let her go. "Are you sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine." She reluctantly pulled away and leaned back against the wall. She looked around the dusty room in confusion. "Where are we?"
"Some abandoned house not far from the tracks," the boy responded.
"Who knows where the train is now. It seems we're gonna have to rendezvous with the others on foot." She glanced outside the window to her left. "But for now, you should get some rest. It's best if we wait 'til dawn to begin our trek."
Prompto glanced towards the window and saw the sun disappearing beyond the horizon. He agreed with her, fearing the daemons' numbers would be overwhelming for the two of them even with her powerful magic. "Yeah. Guess we better call it a night."
"You better call it a night. I'll keep watch. We wouldn't want any surprise visitors." (Y/n) stood up and walked past the blonde.
Prompto already knew she didn't need to sleep nor eat like him. She had the strength to protect him and herself. He also trusted her with his life. The blonde thanked Famine before trying to use whatever he could that the house provided as a means to get comfortable for the night. He decided to use the thick jacket he scavenged as a pillow since the house was practically void of any and all furniture. He placed the article of clothing under his head as he laid down on the floor in the corner of the barren room. He whispered a barely audible "good night" before his eyes drooped shut.
***** Gradually, Prompto opened his eyes and didn't recognize his surroundings. Instead of being in the abandoned house, he was in a well and expensively furnished bedroom. Standing up, he searched the room and discovered a picture frame on the nightstand.
When he went to pick it up, his hand fazed through the object. Gasping in shock and fear, he backed away and stumbled over his own feet. "Where am I?" Crawling back over to the picture frame, he analyzed who was in the picture held within the glass of the plain frame. "(Y/n)?" He gaped in bewilderment.
Examining the room one last time, Prompto recognizes it was the room from his nightmare-(Y/n)'s bedroom. All he felt was real and not a crazed dream. He felt as if he were truly in her bedroom and not inside his head. Remembering how the nightmare plays out, the sharpshooter knew the girl would walk in any second.
Prompto stood by the bed when he heard the abusive and horrible language (Y/n)'s parents used as they insulted her. He wanted to plug his ears from hearing such disgusting behavior, especially coming from the two people who were supposed to love and support their daughter. But the argument ceased and he heard someone stomping up the stairs.
The door flung open before being quickly slammed shut and locked. Prompto watched with an achy heart as (Y/n) presses her forehead against the wood and sunk to her knees. Her body shook as she tried to hold back her sniffles, but he could hear them clearly.
His fists clenched and unclenched, desperately wanting to hold and comfort her. Morosely, he wouldn't be able to touch nor talk to her.
Slowly, (Y/n) pushed herself to her feet, her (h/c) locks falling over her shoulders. With her head down, she meandered unsteadily to the bathroom. Prompto followed her when he spotted the numerous of cuts and bruises scattered across her pale skin. She examined the injuries in the mirror before trying to tend to them. She wetted a washcloth and gently dabbed it against the cuts strewn about on her legs, arms, and face.
As (Y/n) continued to clean the wounds, Prompto could tell how dull her (e/c) eyes were becoming. She tossed the washcloth aside and gripped the edge of the counter tightly, her knuckles straining under her grip. Her shoulders shook not with sorrow but with rage.
Prompto recognizes the scene and shook his head. "No, no, no, no!" He tried to reach out and grab her, but his limbs only passed through her body. Her entire body passed through his as she stalked towards the door. The boy ran after her, shouting and begging her to stop as she walked out of the bedroom and down to the kitchen.
Desperate cries fell on deaf ears as Prompto continued to try to touch and grab (Y/n). He watched in horror as she grabbed the sharpest knife from the knife block by the stove. Silently, she stalked into the living room where her father was currently reading in the recliner. "Father?" She called out weakly, hiding the knife behind her back.
In response, her horrid father rolled his eyes with a sigh before tossing the book on the round table beside the recliner and stood up with a fierce glare. "What could you possibly want, you useless brat?"
Suddenly, an unknown force pushed against Prompto and caused him to lose his balance. When he thought he was going to pass through her body as he fell, he was flabbergasted when his body clashed against hers. It caused her to drop the knife and the weapon clanked against the hardwood floor below.
Prompto managed to steady himself and (Y/n) before they both fell. Her father spotted the knife and immediately snatched it up. His eyes widened before narrowing dangerously. "You little bitch! What were planning to do with this?!" (F/n) saw Prompto and gripped the blade tightly. "And you invited a stranger into our house?!"
The blonde saw the rage boiling inside the man and promptly grabbed (Y/n)'s hand, who didn't try to break free from his hold, and pushed her behind him. He tried to summon his pistol, but nothing appeared in his hand.
"(M/n), get the gun!" The girl's father yells before swinging the knife at the two. Prompto dodged the swing, taking (Y/n) with him. He gripped her hand tighter and tugged her along as they ran through the grand house. He tried to reach the front door, but (M/n) appeared and blocked it. She aimed the gun at them and pulled the trigger. Before the bullet pierced his abdomen, (Y/n) tugged him to the side and back to the stairs. They ran up the stairwell and back into her room. She locked the door before eyeing Prompto. "Who are you and why are you helping me?"
Another gunshot rang through the house as they heard (M/n) and (F/n) making their way up the stairs. Prompto was about to answer when they heard banging on the door. "I'll tell you when we get outta here!"
"The window!" (Y/n) shouted. "Even though this is the second level, there's a canal below. We can jump into the water."
Prompto nodded and rushed to the window. He pushed it open and turned to face her, offering her a hand. "Let's go, (Y/n)."
Without hesitation, she took his hand and allowed him to help her on to the windowsill. They stared at the calm water below, but their eyes darted back to the door when they heard another gunshot. (M/n) had shot the lock off the door.
Prompto didn't hesitate when the door flung open. He jumped out the window, tugging (Y/n) along. Their bodies were soon submerged in the chilly water and they swam away from the house in a desperate attempt to escape (Y/n)'s maniacal parents.
They swam for nearly ten minutes before climbing out of the frigid water and hiding in the shadows of an alleyway. (Y/n) wrung the water out of her clothes and hair before staring contently at Prompto. Once he was done wringing out his own clothes of excess water, she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. "I don't know who you are or how you managed to get into the house, but I'm so glad you did. If you weren't there, I-I would've... Gods only know what they would've done to me."
Prompto wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, pressing his cheek against the side of her head. The smell of her shampoo-a mix between strawberry and mint-greeted his nostrils as he nuzzled his nose into her (h/c) locks. "It's finally over," he sighed in relief.
"All thanks to you," (Y/n) added. She pulled away and stared into his crystalline eyes.
Even though he knew this wasn't the real (Y/n), Prompto couldn't hold himself back any longer. He moved his hands from her waist to her cheeks, gingerly cupping them before pressing his lips against hers in a sweet, intoxicating kiss.
Before he could deepen it, he felt a tug on his body and then everything was consumed in darkness. *****
Prompto cracked his eyes open, feeling the familiar warm rays of the sun casting through the window. Regardless of the nightmare, he felt refreshed and rejuvenated. Unlike previous nights, this was the first time he was able to control where and how it ended. In the end, he was able to save (Y/n) and even did the one thing he's been wanting to do since he realized his true feelings for her.
The marksman pushed his body off the floor and searched the house for Famine. When he couldn't find her inside, he checked the exterior.
"Oh, Prom," (Y/n) called out when she heard the front door open. She turned around and faced the blonde with a smile. "Good morning. I was just about to-"
Prompto grabbed her face in his hands and pulled her into a passionate kiss without warning. The Horseman's eyes widen at feeling his lips against hers, her mind becoming shambles as he deepened the kiss. Slowly, she reached up and placed her hands over his before her eyes fluttered shut. She kissed back with the same intensity, relishing the blissful and peaceful moment.
When the kiss ended due to the need for air, Prompto leaned his forehead against (Y/n)'s. He stared into her (e/c) eyes, noticing how they were glazed over with endearment and desire. He gulped down the lump in his throat that kept him from speaking. "I-I know this is terrible timing, but... I love you, (Y/n)."
Famine smiled warmly at his declaration. "It's never a terrible time to say "I love you." In the many years I've been alive, human or Horseman, I never thought someone would love me." Her hands moved to wind around his neck, pulling him into a warm embrace. "I've gotta ask: what brought this on-y'know, wanting to kiss me all of a sudden?"
"The nightmare was different-a good different," he replied, wrapping his arms around her waist to pull her body flush against his.
"Really?" Famine sounded baffled. "How was it different?"
He nuzzled his nose into the crook of her neck. "I was able to stop you from stabbing your dad, but it got a little messy after that. We jumped out your bedroom window and swam through the canal. Then when we got to safety, I, uh... I..."
"Kissed me?" Famine smirked.
"Y-Yeah..."
(Y/n) pulled away from Prompto with a sad smile. "If I had met you during my time on Eos, maybe I could've escaped the hell I lived." She exhaled a deep sigh and her sorrowful smile morphed into a jubilant one. "But I'm glad to have met you, Prompto. I guess becoming a Horseman hasn't been all that bad."
"I'm really glad we met, too. That day in Altissia-out of all the people you could've chosen, why me?"
"When I first saw you at the fountain, I felt like I could trust you with anything. In the entire time I'd been in Altissia, you're the only person I felt that way around. And now," (Y/n) threw her arms out. "Here we are."
"(Y/n), I..." Tears of joy slipped from his eyes. "I don't know what to say."
She placed a hand on his cheek, wiping away the tears with her thumb. "You don't have to say anything, sweetheart. Although, I do want to give you something." She dropped her hand from his cheek and handed him the summoning orb. "I'd like for you to have this back. Like I said, you're the first person I've trusted in a long time. But if you don't want it back, I won't force you to take it."
Prompto didn't need to think twice. He took the summoning orb from her and held it tightly. "Thank you, (Y/n), for everything."

Catwalked into my life
I was trying to figure out what to do a crossover with but I've been reading FFXV fics and decided, well I've made them roommates, why not make them related. I hope you like it. Crossover
Noctis sat in the car Ignis had driven him in, waiting for the familiar blonde head to appear in the stream of people walking into school. Finally, he spotted someone dodging people, his green wristband a beacon.
“Prom’s here. I’ll see you later Iggy.”
“Do remember to share the desserts with Prompto and also remember no running off to the arcade this evening. Your cousin will be here this evening and your having dinner with him.”
“Iggy, you know as well as I do Keith will be completely fine with burgers.”
Be that as it may, he is a visiting royal so we have rules we must follow. So no running off.”
“Fine.” Noctis exited the car and met up with Prompto. “You’re pretty late.”
“Sorry. My mom called me right when I was leaving.”
“Everything ok?”
Prompto’s parents worked as journalists but their office was based out in Altissia so they lived there while Prompto lived in Insomnia. They paid his bills and sent him a small allowance, since he worked part time. Usually if they called, they’d be on the phone for hours catching up.
“Yeah. My mom was mostly calling to ask if my cousin could stay with me for the weekend.”
“Your cousin?”
“Well, his mom is friends with my mom and they’re really close so he’s kinda like my cousin. Anyway, he’s a part time model and there’s this event happening.”
“The Moonlight Fashion Show?” Noctis interrupted.
“How do you, never mind. He was asked to join the models kinda late so they couldn’t get him a hotel so my mom was asking if he could stay with me.”
“Funny. My cousin is also coming for a visit.”
“What cousin?”
“His mom was my mom’s sister. They were a bit estranged from each other because of some really bad argument but my dad knew my mom still cared so he kept her in the lop. After my mom passed, my aunt didn’t want to lose her connection with me so she talks with us way more. Anyway, she’s coming to visit before going to Lestallum for some sort of union talk, so I’m having dinner with her and my cousin tonight so no arcade.”
“Is he cool or?”
Noctis shrugged. “He’s pretty cool. He’s kinda like me. Knows he’s related to royalty but doesn’t make it a habit of letting people know that. He likes to keep to himself.”
“Sounds exactly like you. I’d like to meet him if I got the chance. Oh by the way. Would Iggy be free to maybe drive me to the airport so I can pick him up? He’s coming in tomorrow afternoon.”
“I guess. I can get you a taxi if you need it.”
“No, that’s fine. You know I don’t like taking your money.”
“Not like I’m using it for much else, but if you really need a ride, I can beg Specs to take you. What’s your cousin’s name anyway?”
“Lance. His name’s Lance.”
Noctis happily sat out of training as he watched Galdio spar with Keith. Even with wooden swords, it was easy to see how well Keith could keep up. Keith technically wasn’t part of the royal line, his mother’s family was added to the royal family tree as dukes and duchess, so he was never expected to learn how to fight. When he first visited though, he had watched Noctis practise with Gladiolus and wanted to try. They had to send a member of the Glaive to help train Keith because he liked it so much. Noctis would still preen at how he would still manage to keep Keith on the ropes.
The young fighter was thrown to his back by Gladio, the wooden sword flying from his grip.
“Good, you’ve gotten better. Still not good as me though.” Gladio joked as he pulled Keith up, ruffling his hair when he was on his feet.
People would think Keith and Noctis were brothers and he could kinda see it. Their hair was on the long side but Keith’s was more of a mullet while Noctis’ looked like he just rolled out of bed. Their eye colour was also different but they other than looks, they both like keeping to themselves and didn’t make friends easily. Noctis was lucky with Prompto but as far as he knew, Keith hadn’t exactly made friends in his school. But Keith’s personality was a bit prickly for those who didn’t know him well.
“I can see that smug smile of yours.” Keith said, tugging his hair tie out of his hair, ruffling it to air it out.
“Just happy to see someone else at the mercy of Gladio.” Noctis joked, dodging the same hair tie.
“Asshole.” Keith collapsed next to his cousin, looking tired now that training was over. “My trainer has to be going easy on me.”
“Well they’re not Gladio so probably. If you’re that tired, maybe we could skip dinner and just get Iggy to grab us burgers.” Noctis suggested, really not in the mood to get dresses up for a dinner with his cousin.
“Tempting, but my mom said at least one or two of the council members would join us so they could talk to her. Speaking of things my mom’s making me do, you know the Moonlight Fashion show?”
“Yeah, what about it?”
“My mom is insisting we go.”
“Ouch.”
“Yeah, so guess who I asked to come with us?”
Guess who he asked? Wait…
“Tell me you didn’t.” Noctis begged.
Keith gave him a deadpan look, “If I have to suffer, so do you. Besides, your dad wasn’t going and you guys had tickets.”
“Why am I the one suffering though?”
“Because I can’t get out of it. Noctis,” Keith went from deadpan to pleading, “I don’t want to go to this by myself. Please come with me?”
It was like Keith knew if he pouted, he’d get his way. The asshole was good at looking like he was a poor boy who only wanted a simple thing and it’s be a crime to say no.
“Uggg, fine. You so owe me for this.” Noctis grumbled. “Oh, wait a second. You remember me telling you about Prompto?”
“Your best friend right?”
“Yeah, I forgot he mentioned that his cousin was supposed to be walking in that show.”
“Does this mean I get to meet the famous Prompto?”
“I’m going with him and Specs to pick up his cousin at the airport tomorrow after school, how about you meet him then.”
“Anything to get me away from having to spend the afternoon drinking tea with high society ladies my mom has to entertain now that’s she’s here.”
Keith wasn’t one to make friends easily but Prompto was pretty good at making him talk. Since they picked him and Noctis up from school, Prompto had asked him tons of questions, all of which Keith answered. He never felt that he was being integrated and he watched just how comfortable his cousin was with the blond. They just easily melded together.
Ignis insisted that he get Prompto’s cousin – friend? – through security like he was a member of the royal family so they didn’t spend all afternoon waiting in arrivals. Prompto tried, hard, to get Ignis to not do that but his pleas were unheard. Keith could tell Prompto was really Noctis’ friend because of actually wanting to be his friend, not the prince factor.
“So this cousin of yours? How’d he manage to walk in one of the biggest fashion shows if he works part time?” Keith asked.
“Oh, check it out.” Prompto pulled his phone out and after a bit of searching, showed Keith the picture on his phone. Lance had been modelling a sweater, the largeness of it sliding off his shoulder, his blue eyes smouldering. It took everything in Keith not to start blushing. Part time or not, Lance was really good looking. “Part time or not, you look like this, you get called. Just, he was part time so he wasn’t first pick but after another model got really sick, first person they called was him. And it’s not photoshop. Check this out.” Prompto swiped to a picture of him and Lance posing on a couch. “That was when I visited my parents earlier this year.”
“He’s really good.” Keith pointed out.
“Right?” Prompto preened. “Just wait till you see him walk the runway.”
“You sound like a proud mother.” Noctis teased.
Prompto stuck his tongue out at Noctis. “Most people tend to look at him and think he can’t do the job.”
“Sounds like someone I know.” Noctis’ own phone buzzed and he pulled it out. “Iggy’s got your cousin. Said he kinda scared him?”
“Lance never believed me when I said I was friends with the prince so he thought he must be in trouble.” Prompto said, not sounding at all sorry.
Soon enough, Ignis came through arrivals, followed by a tan skinned teen, his brown hair mostly hidden by a backwards snapback. Keith noticed he also had blue eyes, but not like Prompto’s. His reminded him more of the sea. He also looked slightly scared, looking relieved when he finally spotted Prompto.
“What the hell you asshole?”
Prompto laughed. “Not my fault you didn’t believe me.”
“I thought I was about to get sent back home.” Lance complained, hitting Prompto on the shoulder, “I can’t believe you didn’t even warn me!”
“You wouldn’t believe me.” Prompto pointed out. “Noctis, this my cousin Lance. Lance, this is his royal highness-”
“Prom.” Noctis complained.
“Ok fine, this nerd is Noctis and this is his cousin Keith. And you’ve met Ignis already.”
Lance bowed his head slightly as he shook Noctis and Keith’s hands. “Nice to meet you. You didn’t have to come all this way to pick me up.”
“No point of Prompto paying for a taxi and having to wait very long for you to come through security. It was no problem.” Ignis said, leading the group to where they left the car. A few Glaives were there for extra security and quickly helped Lance getting his suitcase in the car.
Keith opened the door for Lance. he looked at him and gave him a smile. Wow, and what a smile.
“Thanks.”
“No problem.” Keith said, watching Lance climb into the car.
“You’re drooling.” Noctis teased as he climbed in after Lance.
“So you didn’t get me a hotel, did you?” Lance asked.
“Please, you’re not that important. You’re roughing it with me.” Prompto said. “Noctis is coming with us because we do need to work on a class assignment together.”
“Hang on, you can’t abandon me now. Tea with society ladies remember.” Keith begged, turning to face his cousin.
“Well, I just need to settle in but if you want, I can hang out with you.” Lance offered.
“Good enough for me. God knows this assignment might just kill us.” Noctis said, answering for Keith.
“Should I be worried?” Ignis asked.
“No need Iggy, I promise he’ll still be alive by the time we’re done.” Prompto promised. “You sure you don’t mind sticking around?” He asked Keith.
“It’s fine.”
“Don’t worry, I’m sure I can entertain royalty for a few hours.” Lance said.
Ignis dropped them off at Prompto’s house and Keith took it upon himself to take Lance’s bag inside.
“You’ll be in my parents’ room, it’s all clean.” Prompto directed.
“Try not to need us for a few hours so I can finally die.” Noctis said as he walked to Prompto’s bedroom.
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry. Come on, I’ll show you the room.”
According to Prompto, his parents lived in Altissia so the fact that the room didn’t look lived in wasn’t surprising. Lance dropped his book bag on the bed and pulled his hat off.
“You can laydown the bag at the end of the bed, I have to unpack everything.”
“Sure.” Keith did just that, unzipping it so Lance could start unpacking and sat at the end of the bed.
“So, I don’t think I’ve actually heard of you in terms of the royal family.” Lance said as he pulled clothes out of his bag.
“Technically speaking, I’m not part of the royal family. We have a title but that’s only because my aunt was Noctis’ mother.”
“That’s right. Normal commoner caught the eye of the king, love at first sight and all that.”
“Basically. Uncle Regis wanted us to be part of the family even though my mom and her sister were arguing at the time. Uncle’s always made sure we’re taken care of.”
“He sounds pretty amazing.” Lance said.
“He is. So, how did you get into modelling?”
Lance looked slightly embarrassed about the attention on him. “Oh, well. Prom loves taking pictures and whenever he was in town, I’d kinda stick to him like glue because I could never make friends easily. He’d take pictures of me and I didn’t want to make his pictures look bad, so I’d try modelling in the mirror. It was actually thanks to Prompto that I got scouted. We were taking pictures on the beach and a scouting agent thought we were actual professionals. Prom wasn’t going to move to Altissia just to work as a photographer but I was offered a contract. My mom agreed as long as it was part time so I could finish school.”
“You a Junior like them?”
Lance nodded. “I like modelling but I don’t know if it’s what I’ll do forever. I like a lot of things. I like going to the aquarium and part of me wants to try to go into marine biology.”
“That’s a big step up from modelling.”
“Not only that, the best program for it was way out of my price range. Maybe I should just stick to modelling. It’d be easier”
“I think you can do it. Just because something is easy doesn’t mean you should just give in. a lot of people think I should go into politics to help my uncle but I want to work as an officer. Because of who my uncle is, politics would be easy but I don’t want easy.”
Lance took Keith in before giving him a thankful smile. “You’ve got a point. And besides, Galding Quay is also a bit of a fashion district as well as where the program is. Modelling does come with a big pay check.”
“Well there you go.”
“You know, I was so sure that there was no way Prom was best friends with a prince because as far as I knew, all members of the royal family had to be stuck up.”
Keith let out a scoff, “Noct and I are the last people to be stuck up. We’re too busy avoiding unwanted talk and boring conversations.”
“So I can tell. Looks like I was wrong about you Keith. I wonder what else I was wrong about.” For some reason, that made Keith feel like blushing.
The day of the Moonlight Fashion show was here. The day after Lance got in, he was busy with rehearsal so Keith only saw him when he came with Noctis to Prompto’s house. They talked, almost falling into it as easily as Noctis and Prompto did with each other. Well except, Keith was pretty sure he gained a crush on Prompto’s cousin. He was good looking and really nice and his laugh was something he could listen to for hours. Wow, Keith was a bit obsessed but he was fine. he never felt that way about anyone, ever, so if that’s how his first crush was going to happen, then so be it.
He tugged at his tie, noticing his cousin wasn’t looking comfortable either. He was also wearing his crown, because it was required for events such as this, and he could tell Noctis wanted to throw it across the room. Prompto was doing a good job of distracting him though, talking up a storm, and showing him the pictures he got. They were able to sit in the front rows next to the catwalk so Prompto was gushing about the perfect picture opportunities.
“Smile.” Prompto said, holding up a much smaller camera to face the small row of them. Keith naturally smiled, feeling Gladio sticking his head into the frame at the last minute. “Dude come on, that motion blur is so not good.”
“Well excuse me.” Gladio said, sinking back into his seat. There was a row of Glaive members sitting next to him in the second row and Keith knew there were more around. Ignis himself was seated next to Prompto, his eyes trained on his tablet, noise cancelling headphones on his ears.
The lights finally dimmed and the noise died down as the main designer for the fashion line came out onto the catwalk.
“Welcome everyone to the Moonlight Fashion show. As you know, I have collaborated with many designers, both amateur and professionals so we can create the designs you see today. I do hope you enjoy our show and I’d also like to extend a kind welcome to the prince of our glorious kingdom, Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum.”
With the painted Prince smile, Noctis stood up and waved at the applauding crowd.
“Now please enjoy our show as we walk through the moonlight.”
With another round of applause, the main designer stepped off the catwalk as the first model walked down the catwalk. A lot of the clothes were black, navy or a deep purple, most having a sparkling effect within its seams. Then Lance came onto the catwalk. His pants were dark blue with crescent moons tastefully sprinkled throughout, his black top having cut outs for his shoulders. Keith definitely noticed the glitter around Lance’s eyes. As he turned to walk back down, he caught Keith’s eyes and winked at him.
“You’re blushing.” Noctis whispered, laughing as Keith threw his elbow into his side.
Lance came back down near the end with a girl on his arm, her one shoulder galactic inspire dress taking most of the attention, even as Lance spun her so she took up the room at the end of the catwalk. But Keith’s eyes were trained on Lance, his blazer looking like the night sky and his suit fit him perfectly. Lance sent him another smile as he took the hand of his partner and walked back up the catwalk. It was a bit hard to pick Lance out when all the models came out so the designers could get their recognition, but he was able to pick him out near the end of the line.
Once the catwalk was once again empty and the lights had risen, Ignis stood up. “We’ve also been invited to the afterparty. It would do good to make an appearance.”
“Lance is supposed to be working that too. Come on, I want to eat overpriced free food.” Prompto said, making sure he had his camera before dragging Noctis to the exit.
The after party was in the room next door and was a bit dark so the motion sensored floor could light up well as people walked around. There were different podiums and soon models from the show came in and stood on them, allowing the audience members could take a closer look at the clothes.
Ignis stopped Noctis from following Prompto to the food table. “We need to go greet the designers.”
“What for?”
“One of them is the niece of the royal seamstress. Besides, it’s the polite thing to do.”
Noctis groaned and Prompto promised to save him a plate as they disappeared into the crowd. Most of the Glaive members disappeared to, no doubt to check out the place and keep an eye on Noctis. He knew a few still had their eye on him, so Keith went around to go look for a particular model. He found Lance surrounded by a few women who seemed more interested in Lance’s body than his clothes. He’d changed back into his first outfit, his face shining from the glitter still on it.
“Excuse me ladies.” Keith interrupted, holding out his hand for Lance, which he took and stepped off the podium. “I’m afraid I need to steal him.”
Keith pushed Lance away from the pouting ladies and lead Lance to a less populated area.
“Thank you. I felt a bit like a slab of meat. Is this how Prince Noctis feels? Is this how you feel?”
“It can be much worse.” Keith admitted. “You looked amazing up there.”
“Oh thank you.” Lance said, a blush easily seen even in the dark light.
“Are you going to be doing the modelling all night? I think Prompto said he wanted to get burgers after.”
“I thought I saw him darting to the food table?”
Keith shrugged. “I mean, free food but I know I could still go for a burger.”
“I’d love to but I’ll be working until the party is over.” Lance said, looking upset. “I would love to spend some more time with you.”
“Well, if you’re free tomorrow, would you like to have breakfast with me? Not at the Citadel or anything, but there is the secret dinner Noct and I like going to.”
With a slightly shy smile on his face, Lance nodded. “I think that’ll perfect. I’d love to. I have maybe 4 minutes before I need to get back on the podium. Want to split a cupcake with me?” Lance asked, pointing to where the food table was.
“It would my honour.”

Birds of a Feather: Father and Daughter
AO3/Masterlist
Wordcount: 1,924
I FINALLY GOT THIS DONE, HOLY SHIT THIS TOOK WAY TOO LONG AND I’M SORRY.
Okay, so I’ve been working on this fic on and off since August, I think? Anyway, it’s taken way too long and I’m so sorry. This isn’t a Prompto/Katia story, but it is important to Katia’s backstory and I wanted to write it so hopefully that doesn’t bother people! I really wanted to write about her and her adoptive father Stabilis since I couldn’t do so in the main story. There are spoilers for the main Birds of a Feather story though, so don’t read this if you haven’t read that one yet!
This is normally where I’d tag people, but I really don’t know if people even want to be tagged anymore. Sorry.
Stabilis Ferrum was a simple man. He had a decent job, a nice home, and a happy life. Sure, he might not have had a partner in his life, but he didn't mind. He never expected to have a family because of that, but it wasn't a big problem for him. He figured he'd live his life to the fullest, surrounded by friends. He certainly didn't expect becoming a father out of nowhere.
He'd been taking a vacation in Altissia, trading the busy royal city for a relaxing getaway. He'd been seeing the sights, enjoying the food, just about anything he could think of. And then he came back to his hotel room one night to see an ethereal woman standing there, holding a small child in her arms. The child was asleep, and very dirty. He'd never seen the little girl before, and before he knew it the woman was telling him to raise her. He tried to protest, saying he'd never been a father before, but the woman wouldn't take no for an answer. And without being able to retaliate, the woman left, leaving traces of a chill and the little girl.
Stabilis looked over the sleeping child. She had brown hair that went past her shoulders. The only thing she was wearing looked to be a white hospital gown, now covered in dirt and frayed. On her left wrist were two markings on each side. One appeared to be some kind of barcode, the other a chocobo feather. The woman had said little about this girl, merely that she had no home and no memories. He hadn't questioned her on either front. He couldn't help but wonder just what this kid had been through. Just as he'd been thinking about what to do, the girl woke up.
She sat up and looked around the room, clearly confused. She finally turned to Stabilis. "Where am I?" she asked softly. "Who are you? Who am I?"
Well, this was a problem. He thought he'd have more time to figure out what to tell her. Might as well be honest, he guessed. "Don't worry, you're safe here," he said, trying to keep this girl calm. "You're at a hotel in Altissia, my room specifically. My name is Stabilis Ferrum, though I suppose you can call me 'dad'. As for who you are, I was hoping you could tell me that. I found you on the streets all by yourself so I don't know anything about you," He figured it wouldn't matter if he embellished the truth a little bit, he couldn't exactly tell her that woman had just left her here. He got closer and leaned down so he was eye level. "Do you remember anything at all about yourself? Your name, your age, where you're from? Anything will do."
The girl sat there in silence, likely trying to remember something. After a while, she sighed and looked down at her hands. "Sorry mister, I can't," she said. "Well, except I'm 6. I just turned 6, I think."
Stabilis smiled, putting a hand on her shoulder. "That's okay, you remembered something. You don't have to strain yourself." he said. He pulled out a small pocket book and checked the date. September 28th. He figured that would make her birthday nearby. He marked it down as the 26th, figuring it didn't matter if he was a few days off.
"How come I can call you 'dad'?" The girl asked.
Stabilis looked back at her. "Well, you don't have a family, so I guess I'm gonna adopt you. You're my daughter now."
The girl didn't seem to understand. "Daughter?"
How to explain this to a girl who didn't know what he meant? "Well, it means I'm gonna take care of you from now on. Once I'm done here, I'll take you home with me to Insomnia."
"The royal city?" The girl asked. Well, that at least gave him an idea that she had basic knowledge. That'd make putting her in school easier, he couldn't exactly home school her with his job. He couldn't believe he was already thinking about about her education.
"Yes, the royal city. That's where I live," Stabilis explained. "I'm not royalty or anything, but that's not important. I'm staying here for a couple more days, so I'll get you some new clothes before we leave. Unless you want to keep wearing that." He gestured to the hospital gown, getting a shake from the girl.
Her stomach began to growl, clearly she was hungry. "I'll order some room service so you can get something to eat." He began to stand up and head for the phone, but a tug on his shirt stopped him.
"Wait!" He looked down at her, a scared look on her face. She pointed to the strange barcode on her wrist. "Hide this! It's bad!"
"Bad? What is it exactly?" he asked.
"I dunno, but I don't want people to see it! It's bad!" she repeated, tears forming at the edges of her eyes. Whatever it was, she was worried about it.
"Alright, let me see what I can do," He looked around the room, trying to find something he could cover it with. He looked at the watch on his own wrist. That would work until he could find something else. He'd have to look for something while he bought her some clothes. He took off the watch and adjusted it so it fit around her smaller wrist. "There, that should do for now, Katia."
"Katia?"
"Oh, right. Well, you don't know your name, and I have to call you something, so I figured Katia could be your name," he explained. "I've always thought it was a pretty name, and decided it could be yours. Katia Ferrum, do you like it?"
She sat there in thought again, a small smile creeping on her face. "It's pretty. I like it." Katia said.
Stabilis smiled, standing up. "That's good. I'm gonna get you something to eat now, okay? You sound hungry."
---------------------------------------
He still couldn't believe it'd been so long. Fourteen years had passed, and he watched his daughter grow into a fine young woman. She'd even managed to make friends with the prince! Granted, he wasn't the type who cared about sucking up to royalty, he was just glad his daughter had managed to make such a great friend. Of course, there was also the Argentum boy. They got along better than anyone. He had a feeling there was more there, not that he'd pester his daughter about it.
"Hey dad, how do I look?" Katia's voice snapped Stabilis out of his thoughts. He looked over to see her wearing the Crownsguard fatigues she'd been given. He looked at her and felt proud. What parent wouldn't in this moment?
"You look amazing," he said, getting a smile in return. "They fit you perfectly."
Katia laughed a little bit. "Well I'd hope so, otherwise I'd have to get on the Marshalls case about it! I just hope the guys like it, it sucks having to keep such a huge secret in!"
"I'm certain they will," Stabilis took a sip from his mug of coffee. "You're heading out to Altissia to meet them, right?"
"Yep, I'm not about to miss Noct's wedding. I can't wait to see the look on his face when he sees me there!"
"He's not leaving for another week though, why head out today?"
Katia shrugged her shoulders. "Because it's more fun to surprise him? Besides, once the wedding starts I won't be able to see any of the sights! I wanna enjoy Altissia while I'm there."
"Alright, alright. I know I can't stop you," Stabilis walked over to her, a feeling of dread suddenly overwhelming him. It felt like if she left, he'd never see her again. He knew she was an adult, but deep down he couldn't help but worry a little bit. "Are you sure you want to go there alone? I wouldn't get on your way." He tried not to make his worry too obvious.
Katia just rolled her eyes. "Dad, I'm gonna be fine. Besides, you're starting to get old, no offense. I doubt you'll be able to handle Altissia at your age."
"Hey now, I'm not that old!" he laughed.
"You're old enough! I can't let ya slow me down!" The two laughed together.
Stabilis sighed. Her mind was made up. He just had to hope that his worries were unfounded. "Okay, I trust you. Just try not to get into any trouble, okay?"
"Come on dad, it's me! You got nothing to worry about!" She began to walk away so she could grab her bags.
No matter how much he tried to push it back, the fears kept coming to the front of his mind. He didn't want to believe that once she walked out that door, that she'd be gone forever. She was too important to him. He'd never had a family before she showed up that night, he didn't want to lose her.
"Alright, I should be going," Katia's voice snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked over to see her heading towards the door.
"Wait!" he shouted, startling his daughter. He rushed over as fast as he could. "You can't leave without giving me a proper good-bye, now can you?"
Katia rolled her eyes. "You're right, how could I forget?" She placed her bag on the ground and hugged Stabilis, as he did the same. He tried his best to hold back tears, he had no reason to cry after all. Perhaps his worries were simply due to the fact that she was a young woman now, and eventually all children leave home. He didn't need to worry about that. She'd be with her friends, and maybe she'd call home saying she finally got with the Argentum boy. He was a kind soul, he'd be what she needed. He told himself all this, and yet he still hesitated to let her go.
"I love you, sweetheart." he said, hiding his worries with a smile.
"I love you too, dad," Katia replied. "I'll miss you."
"...I'll miss you too."
The two let go of each other, knowing this couldn't last. "I'll call you when I make it to the hotel. Or if some disaster happens, whichever one comes first." Katia said, picking up her bag.
"I hope it'll be the first one. I can't help much since I'll be here after all." Stabilis went back to his coffee, sipping down the bitter brew.
"You and me both," Katia stopped for a moment, going back to her father and kissing him on the cheek. "Wish me luck!"
Stabilis kissed her cheek as well. "May the Six keep you safe on your journey."
Katia headed out the door, leaving him alone in his house. He walked into the living room, picking up an old photograph of the two of them. He took it not long after he adopted her, both of them were smiling. Times were simple then, now everything was changing.
Of course, he knew not of the events that would take place in Insomnia a week later. He knew not that he would die in the attack on the royal city. He knew not that Katia would hear of the attack and desperately try to contact him in the hope that he was alive. Nothing could tell him the future. All he could do was reminisce on the past, and hope his daughter would have a happy future.

Plotholes of FF15; the ultimate edition
It’s come to my attention that with the plot being as wonky and contradictory, many (including me) find it hard to decide what’s a plothole and what’s simply a part left vague by the game. I’ve made a list of all the plotholes I could think about so far which is..uh.. quite the long read. I’ve wanted to have it though while waiting for the new DLCs.
1. Ravus is made responsible for the Niflheim army’s huge defeat in Altissia and sentenced to death, however we can see him well and free walking into the Emperor’s throne room in Zegnautus Keep. Since at this time almost the entirety of Niflheim has fallen victim to the starscourge it’s possible he escaped somehow and came to finish the Emperor off, but the game explains nothing.
2. The starscourge seems to be an illness progressing either very fast or very slowly, possibly at a pace chosen by Ardyn himself if he so wills it. Emperor Aldercapt is mentioned to have infected himself with the scourge shortly after Ardyn’s appearance at his court which was 30 years before he transformed, meanwhile Ravus turned into a demon mere minutes, maybe an hour after infection. Again the game explains nothing
3. Ifrit got infected with the starscourge by a mysterious man who is given no name but who can only be Ardyn. If Ardyn apparently can kill and infect gods, why did he not infect any of the others so they would abandon Noctis and fight for his cause instead? We know the Empire has killed many gods including Shiva whose dead body still lies where its fallen on Niflheim grounds.
4. The gods die but they also don’t. Both Shiva and Titan are canonly dead and you can see Shiva’s dead body, however both are also alive spiritually (?) aiding you in battle.
5.  Ardyn is the only creature who didn't die from the starscourge, it just made him a godlike being instead. Why?
6. Bahamut delivered the prophecy to mankind telling of a king of kings to be chosen to save the world, a thing the gods want to happen because they have sworn to protect mankind - still every single one of them except Shiva and the Fulgurian try to kill Noctis. That means despite Bahamut revealing to Regis that his son is the chosen one when he was only a toddler, apparently noone else believes it and everyone doubts his ‘chosen-ness’. Get your shit together, gods.
7. Ardyn was known and worshipped as an extraordinarily selfless man who healed millions of the starscourge, however that led to him infecting himself eventually which caused the events of FF15 and the world being plunged into eternal darkness. Lunafreya has also been given the power to heal the starscourge - by Bahamut, if you believe the cosmogony which states he descended to Eos to handpick a maiden to be the first oracle. Are we to assume Ardyn was a prototype gone wrong who then was cast aside in favour of a new healer type? Or does Luna maybe infect herself slowly? Which leads us to the next point...
8. Lunafreya is sick. A cutscene taking place in Altissia has her weak and pleading to Ravus to take the ring and give it to Noctis, because she fears she will not be able to any longer, because her body is already failing her. We are however never told what this weakness is and it is literally never shown except in this scene. Is it the ‘prize of the covenant’ Ardyn mentions to know well, also in Altissia? Does doing her oracle duty sap her of life (sounds ineffective)? Or is that prize the starscourge? Or is the ring somehow killing her like the ring of Sauron??
9. For Bahamut to give the oracle her powers to heal the scourge, obviously he himself must be able to heal the scourge, however he never does.... was making Ardyn wait for 2000 years until Noctis could sacrifice his sad life for him a sick form of entertainment? Or can he just not heal Ardyn somehow? Whatever it is, Bahamut heals noone ever, not so sworn to protect humankind after all, I guess. See number 7.
10. Ardyn is often referred to as a chosen king, however we are explicitely told he was forbidden to ascend. Many believe this means the crystal never chose him and that seems to be what happened regarding his grudge against the crystal especially. What relativizes this again though is the cosmogony itself: “There once was a man born a mortal but blessed with powers divine. Conjuring a collection of glaives he dispelled the darkness plaguing our star. As a reward for his efforts the gods granted him a holy stone” - The Crystal, which he was to guard at all cost. Cleansing the world of the scourge in his time is a thing Somnus The Mystic is known for. That means the Crystal was given to mankind AFTER Ardyn became ‘the lost son’. Except the cosmogony was rewritten to exclude Ardyn which means the cosmogony is not a reliable source of history and lore at all. Seems like it, because being written out of history (again) is a thing Ardyn is concerned over when he dies. However what seems to be another fact making all of this more confusing is that according to Ardyn Somnus, if he got the crystal or not, himself was not chosen by the time he had Ardyn executed. Possibly he never was. Possibly noone ever was except Noctis who seems to be Ardyn’s successor in all ways possible. In their last fight Ardyn refers to Noctis as the chosen king, but ‘a second rate chosen at best’ seemingly referring to himself who was definitely sheduled to be chosen 2000 years ago. Maybe all of this is intentionally confusing and contradictory, but due to the missing pieces it is literally impossible to figure out the truth so it remains a plothole: was Ardyn meant to be the king of kings? Was he supposed to be ‘just’ the first king? Was Ardyn given the crystal or was Somnus? We will never know until maybe Episode Ardyn hopefully.
11. Ascended Noctis is - apparently - immortal. Ardyn who is pretty much the only character at this point who we can assume to know his shit explains his motives to Noctis as he is being pulled into the crystal the following way: “Killing you as a mortal will bring me scant satisfaction.” Evidently the King of Kings is immortal, at least in a way that he can not die a natural death.
12. If Ardyn was a prototype of the King of Kings who failed maybe the starscourge did not kill him because he was always meant to be immortal? Ardyn really is the gods’ fault, isn’t he? Pure food for thought though. You can fill a book with Ardyn theories due to the massively wonky plot of FF15.
12. Ascended Noctis is maybe not only immortal, but definitely more powerful than the gods. The gods can’t kill Ardyn. They can’t restore light. Bahamut actually explains to Noctis inside the crystal that his ascension will elevate him above the gods. We are never told why Noctis has to die to fulfill the prophecy though and if you accept Episode Ignis as being a valid alternate universe, a what-if path where all mechanics of Eos are still in effect, then very clearly Noctis never really had to die, it is just what Bahamut tells him. Maybe the ‘blood prize’ that needs to be paid is really only the gods’ hubris of not wanting another deity that is stronger than them ruling their little SIMS world of a kingdom. Like the blood prize Nyx pays for using the ring. Bunch a’assholes. See number 9.
13. Now on to Prompto. Dear god, Prompto is a gold mine. Prompto says in Zegnautus Keep that he always knew his barcode was the sign of an MT and that he is really from Niflheim, but it’s not something he could just tell his Lucian friends. So Prompto apparently knew MTs are somehow made from humans, however in his own Episode he seems shocked by the reveal.
14. However did Prompto know anyway if he was rescued as a baby? Did his step parents know and tell him later? Who the fuck are his step parents and why does this not have any role at all in the game?? If his step parents knew, who else fucking knows about MTs? Did Regis know? Deemed a plothole because if Regis did not know then his wall is apparently not as safe as he thinks for Niflheim people to sneak in and raise an MT there and if he DID know then he really oughta have known he was sending an MT with Noct who could betray him at any time which was actually supposed to happen in early scripts.
15. MTs start out as babies, however all of the Prompto clones we see in Episode Prompto are adults, which means they either give them about 20 years to grow into a demon core which is unlikely since they’ve had MTs for a long time and in huge numbers or the clones just grow super fast. Prompto however doesn’t age super fast. Something here is either lazy coding or very, very fucky.
16. What actually is an MT? Clearly MTs are mainly made from metal and not at all a human or demon in a suit though it is still a common misconception in parts of the fandom. They don’t bleed when they die, instead they give off electric sparks and show dozens of broken wires next to miasma. Their bodies are decidedly human looking, they can be programmed which is an integral part of their function lest they become violent and uncontrollable and they also move decidedly robotic. Our best guess at this point is that the demon core is the essence of a demon condensed into a ‘battery’ that is shielded from light by its purely robotic body. According to the files you find on MTs the reason human clones are chosen for the process is that they do not suffer a loss of ego and do not go insane which normal humans did when they used regular citizens. I assume that means the clones do not have a sense of self since they never were self-aware to begin with. They became conscious already being MTs. And then we have Episode Prompto where apparently an MT fears death which clearly indicates an ego. Or maybe that was Prom’s imagination, after all he also fantasized his childhood self…
17. Ardyn seems to know a lot about Solheim technology to be able to give Niflheim the ability to create advanced robotic soldiers or the tech to develop airships… quite a savvy chosen king for a time in which any and all Solheim technology was shunned by the gods as heretical. Either Ardyn never was such a holy messiah or very, very much of that Solheim tech was still present in everyday life in Ardyn’s time… provided the gods were cool with their king meant to lead people back to faith using any of it. Since, you know, the gods hated Solheim. That’s why they made Lucis.
18. The Ring according to the cosmogony is the sign for someone fit to rule, however also according to the cosmogony the ring can be weilded by everyone who’s worthy, not only the king. We see this confirmed in Nyx and Ignis. That strongly indicates not everyone in the long line of the Lucis Caelum was worthy either and in fact there are only a very short number of kings resting inside the ring including Regis who very obviously wore and used it. It seems to me we are led to believe putting on the ring is always a risk even for a Lucis Caelum; they might be burned and killed just like everybody else. That appears to fit the obvious fear in Noctis to put on the ring which he then only does because Ardyn took all his other weapons. The kings inside the ring don’t seem to see things the way the cosmogony does in any way condescending Nyx for being ‘not even a king’ - so what is it really?
I’ll stop here though I’m sure I could think of more if I tried. The truth is, FF15 could have done with some more proper development time to clear out many of these issues. I’d love to hear more of these if anyone has some more!

Sick Day (little Noctis x Prompto)
A continuation from my AU after the first encounter. A little one shot about little Pom2 getting sick. But soon he will have some help so don’t worry and he will be all better. Enjoy!...
==========================================================  Hearing that his Blonde Angel was sick due to a fever, Noctis couldn't calm down. He wanted to see him as quickly as possible, but Ignis wouldn't let him. Saying that he might catch it too. Usually, if Ignis already said no, Noctis would comply and won't argue anymore but this time it's different. His Angel was sick, his ball of sunshine has become grey. Going to school felt like a chore now, not that it wasn't before but after Prompto came to his school, he always finds it much more enjoyable to go to school but when he heard from his teacher that Prompto was absent. He didn't enjoy being at school for a second. He just wanted to bolt out and see his little blonde friend.
After arguing for a while with Ignis who still says no and Noctis still wanting to go. The two of them couldn't find a compromise until Regis proposed.
"You can go but only for a while, just to be able to see him. If he's asleep then you are to come back home"
That was enough. He just wanted to see his blonde friend. He couldn't settle for less. Ignis let out a defeated sigh and put a mask on Noctis. Saying that he should never take it off while being near Prompto. Noctis nodded and so off he went to visit his blonde friend at his apartment. With both Ignis and Gladio by his side of course.
=========================================================
In front of Prompto apartment, Noctis was kinda nervous. He had never gone to a friend's house and this is Prompto's home as well. It was double the nervous attack, but he wanted to see his friend even if it's only a glimpse. Just to see if he was okay. Ignis knocked on the door.
"Excuse us"
The door opened with Cor looking really tired. His face looked exhausted like he wasn't getting any sleep at all. He growled but didn't do it out of annoyance, instead, it was just his habit when he felt tired. Noctis flinched a bit but he won't let this be a barrier to see his Angel.
"We are sorry to disturb you, but Noctis wanted to see if Prompto feeling fine"
"Sure, come in"
Cor let them through the door. Noctis could see that it was a one bedroom apartment, a small living space compared to his home. Noctis looked around wondering where his friend is sleeping at. Cor pointed at the left door which was his bedroom. At that moment the Raven boy realized that the two of them was sharing a room. Noctis tried to get that out of his mind... for now. It is much important to see his friend first, making sure that he was okay.
He bowed his head lightly and entered their bedroom. Meanwhile, Cor had gestured for the two boys to sit down on their couch. Ignis gave him a white plastic bag. Filled with some energized drink, some medicines, a few pudding cups.
"We hope this will help"
"Thanks, need it. That boy hadn't eaten anything yet. Bought some jelly and some porridge but it couldn't do down his throat. Even if he managed to swallow something he would puke it a moment later"
"How's his temperature? Is it still high?"
Ignis asked concern.
"It has gone down a bit compared to last night, but it's still high"
Pushing his glasses upward, Ignis looked like he wanted to do something but he felt that he shouldn't overstep his boundaries. For even if Cor is his Lord friend that doesn't mean that he has warmed up to him. But a small nudge from Gladio, made him looked at his huge friend. A smile appeared on his face and hinted to him that it was okay. After all, he's Noctis friend. At least that's what his face looked like he was saying.
Ignis let out a small cough and looked at Cor.
"Do you know the reason for his fever?"
"A cold, maybe... I mean what else can a fever came from"
Cor looked so inexperienced with this parenting stuff. He was still new at this and it was the first time the boy actually got sick so he didn't what he should do at this moment. Ignis quickly knew this, he was quite perspective to this kind of things after all. Ignis stood up.
"If you let me, I can make him some nice porridge and some hot milk with honey. His fever might be the result of his body adjusting to the new environment around him. Usually, children would break down in a high fever. Eating some food and drinking hot milk usually helped to calm down their nerves. It's good to just give them medicine to lower his fever but other than that a few night rest would do him some good"
"So he isn't having a cold?"
"Does he have a runny nose or started to cough?"
"No, he hasn't coughed at all it's just he has this fever"
"Then he doesn't have a cold, after making the porridge I'll check his throat if it's swollen. That would prove if my hypothesis was right"
Just hearing all of this, he was really taken back by how capable this guy is. He may look strict but he was actually caring to this extent. A perfect housewife material, Cor kept this to himself. He was really glad that Ignis came to the rescue. But truth to be told he was getting worried about Prompto if his fever hasn't come down by noon he was going to take him to the doctor but it seemed to have Ignis is as good as having a mother.
"You can use the kitchen, it would help me a lot if he can eat anything"
"Yes, I will do my utmost. I'll take a look in the fridge if I found something I need missing then I'll-"
"I'll go and buy it"
Ignis looked at Gladio who was smirking at him. As if he was saying 'told ya' Ignis brushed it off as he looked through the fridge and pantry. He texted what he needed for Gladio to buy and he was off buying it. Cor gave him some money, though Ignis imply that he doesn't need to. Yet Cor persisted, it was for his Son. Not wanting to argue any further, Gladio was off to buy the stuff Ignis needed. While Ignis told Cor about how to care for Prompto and what he needs to watch out for his health. Cor took out a note and wrote it down, this felt as if he was asking pieces of advice from a well knowledgeable mother. But he keeps this in his head too.
===========================================================
Noctis had entered the dim room, due to the curtain being closed. He looked over and saw Prompto sleeping. He was holding a huge stuff animal. Almost as big as him. When Noctis looked at it closely, the plushie inside his embrace was a huge yellow bird. Kinda like a chicken but was not it. As Noctis tried to figure out what kind of animal it was, Prompto shifted his body in his sleep.
He was breathing shallowly but it was enough to see that he was still deep in his sleep. The Raven walked beside his bed and looked carefully at Prompto's freckled decorated face. His face flushed due to the fever with a damp cloth on his forehead. He looked like he was in pain. This actually breaks his heart. To see his usual sunshine, unable to do anything and lie there.
He wished he could trade places with him. But it was impossible, carefully caress his wet hair. Doing it oh so gently so he won't wake up the blonde.
"Noct..."
Eh... Noctis was surprised to hear him called his name weakly. How did he know that it was me? He wanted to ask him but felt a little guilty for waking him up. Prompto eyes fluttered as he gazed at Noctis eyes.
"Yeah... It's me, I heard you were sick so I came to see you"
A weary smile appeared on his face.
"I'm glad... you came, Noct..."
Noctis wanted to smile back but with the white mask over his face, Prompto couldn't see it. He wanted to take it off but Ignis told him not to, so he just had to let it go. And just be satisfied that he can see his friend. Noctis continued to stroke his hair when Prompto suddenly grabbed his hand and held it to his cheek which was hot to the fever.
"Your hand feels nice, Noct"
"Is it?"
"Yeah, it's cold. Feels refreshing"
Prompto half-lid eyes glistened as he tried to smile. Noctis felt something squeezed his heart. Due to his fever, Prompto was panting a little trying to get as much air into his lungs. Seeing him like that, Noctis was getting worried.
"Prompto are you okay? You're panting a lot"
Prompto grunted a bit trying to speak but it was hard. Seeing his condition declining, Noctis was about to burst out of his room when he could feel the weak blonde held his hand tighter.
"Don't... Pant*... leave me..."
"I'm not going to leave you, I'm going to call your dad"
But Prompto didn't let go of his hand.
"No... Pant* Don't leave me... wheeze*... Please..."
He sounded so sad that Noctis felt sorry for him. Maybe he was having some kind of nightmare due to the fever.
"I understand, I won't leave. I'll stay here as long as you need"
Prompto weary eyes sparkled as he smiled happily with his flushed face.
"Really? Wheeze*...."
"Yup, that's why you should sleep. You need to get better"
"Okay..."
Even though he said that, but his crystal blue eyes still gazing at Noctis. Somehow Noctis knew that he wanted to ask of him something.
"Do you want me to do something?"
Prompto looked surprised but he hid his tiny head under his huge blanket before peeking through it shyly. Either Noctis was imagining it or his face was a little bit redder than before.
"Umm... Pant*... Can you... Umm wheeze*... sing a lullaby for me... Pant*"
"Huh"
Noctis was surprised that he asked him for something like that. This time Noctis flushed though no one would know because of his mask on. He wanted to say that he can't or there's no way that he would do it. But when he saw his blonde friend was looking at him with glitter in his eyes, he knew that he can't dodge this one. Well, it's not like he can't sing it, it's just he was embarrassed to sing in front of anyone.
"Fine... But you have to go sleep after I sing"
"Yay, I will"
His sunshine like smile came back which made Noctis felt glad. I guessed he wouldn't mind singing or doing any embarrassing stuff if it means Prompto can smile like that to him. Noctis took off his mask, he can't sing if he can't breathe properly so the mask got to go.
With a little cough, Noctis started to hum a song that his maid used to sing to him when he was smaller. Once he got the tune downright he softly sang the lyrics. Prompto was amazed that Noctis actually sound nice. Though he didn't know the song of the lullaby it sounded nice to his ears. Slowly but surely, Prompto slipped from his consciousness and fell asleep quietly.
Once Noctis saw that his blonde friend had fallen asleep he thinks that it was okay for him to go now. He was able to see him and even talk to him so he was satisfied. He was also worried that both Ignis and Gladio was getting bored waiting for him. Gently pulling his hand away, he tried his best not to wake him up. As he finally let go, Noctis felt a little bit lonely, he actually wanted to hold on to his friend a little bit more. He let out a small sigh and put up his white mask again before exiting the room.
Only to find both Ignis and Cor in the kitchen while Gladio was sitting in the living room looking at them. Noctis came over to Gladio.
"Hey"
"Gladio, what is Ignis doing with Cor?"
"They're cooking"
"Cooking?"
"Yeah, Ignis wanted to show him how to make hot milk with honey also porridge for your little friend"
"Why?"
"Ignis noticed that Cor looked troubled, he wanted to make sure that Cor knew what he was doing. I think he didn't realize what was causing your little friend fever until Ignis told him about it"
That was new, he never knew that Ignis would care for others. Usually, he would keep it to himself. He knew that he was caring but usually only to those he deemed thrust worthy. Maybe he was actually fond of Cor and Prompto. If that's true then he's glad. Noctis went to the kitchen as well.
"Ignis"
"Noctis, you are done visiting Prompto?"
"Yeah"
"I see, then I'll talk a little more with Cor. Can you wait for me in the living room?"
"Can't I help too, Ignis?"
That was surprising for Ignis, he never once thought Noctis would offer his help when all this time he never even cared about anyone. Nothing wanting to lose his rare opportunities, Ignis smiled softly.
"Yes you can"
Noctis smiled, he wanted to do everything he can for his blonde friend.
==========================================================
"Ugh..."
Fluttering his eyes opened, the blonde opened his eyes slowly. Prompto shifted his little body to look around. He still feels feverish but it wasn't bad as before. At least he could sit up without swaying too much. He looked at the window and noticed that it was already dark. He must have been sleeping for hours after Noctis sang to him. He wondered if the Raven has gone home, well he should have.
Feeling a little bit better Prompto wondered if his Dad was home, he wanted to make sure that he wasn't alone anymore. He crawled out of bed and peeked outside his room. There was light in the living room so Dad was home. He let out a sigh of relief. Pushing the door slightly, he was surprised to see both Ignis and Gladio in his house.
They were next to his Dad in the kitchen. Still feeling wobbly, Prompto tried to call out his dad with his hoarse voice.
"Daddy..."
Cor quickly heard the little voice and looked at his side surprised to see Prompto up and staggering.
"Prompto, why are you walking around?"
"I wanted to see if you are home, daddy"
"I'm here, I ain't going anywhere. Especially not with you still sick like this. How do you feel?"
"Tired and dizzy"
"I guess you are still sick, huh? Well before you rest why not eat something first"
"Yeah"
Cor picked up Prompto and took him to the living room where he was surprised to see a sleeping Noctis on their couch.
"Noct?"
His voice brightens as he called out his Raven friend.
"I'm sorry to intrude on you, Cor. Using your kitchen and borrowing your pillow for Noctis to sleep on"
"What are you talking about, Ignis? I should be the one apologizing. You have done a lot today. I'm happy to lend a pillow or two for Noctis. But boy he sure can sleep"
Cor put Prompto close to Noctis, because he knew that he would want to without the Blonde actually saying it out loud. Just seeing his sparkling eyes as he looked at the Raven was enough.
"Be a good boy and wait there, I'll plate everything up"
"Okay!"
Prompto felt a lot better now, though his head pounding he still got to see Noctis so it's fine. Ignis and Gladio are here too which made it even nicer. He liked to be surrounded by a lot of people. After a few moments, he could smell something nice from the kitchen. He hadn't had any food so he was pretty hungry and now that he was feeling a little bit better his stomach growled without restrained.
Everyone laughed when they heard it, he was a little bit embarrassed but in the end, he laughed as well.
"The porridge is done"
"Thank you Ignis, why don't you three have dinner here as well? After all, you made a lot of food other than porridge. Might as well ate it together"
"No, we can't intrude more than this. Once Noctis woke up, we will be heading home"
"I insist, you both have done much. This the least I can do"
After cooking and teaching Cor how to cook actually made Ignis a little bit hungry but he was stubborn to admit it. So Gladio stepped in.
"We would gladly take that offer"
"Gladio, we can't we have-"
"Isn't it more the merrier when eating dinner? Any care Prompto look like he wanted to eat with all of us. Just looked at that puppy eyes"
As Gladio pointed at Prompto who was still sitting next to Noctis looking at Ignis will the most adorable puppy eyes. No matter how stubborn and cold-hearted he was, he could never say no to that eyes. Giving off a small sigh, Ignis nodded his head. Admitting his defeat.
"Great, Prompto wake Noctis up so we can have dinner together"
Prompto nodded and slowly shook Noctis up. Feeling grouchy, Noctis didn't want to wake up but when he slowly heard his name being called by Prompto's voice he opened his eyes unwillingly. And was greeted by Prompto's sunshine like smile. That startled Noctis into him waking up completely and stumbling from the couch. He never had to sleep in such a narrow space before so he didn't realize that he was close to the edge when he moved backward.
"Noct, are you okay?"
"Y-yeah..."
He said with a growl. Gladio laughed when he saw that, but quickly picked up Noctis helping him to stand on his two feet. Rubbing his head where he could feel a small bump.
"That should wake you up, huh sleepy beauty"
Gladio teased.
"Shut up!"
Shoving Gladio hand from his head. Gladio went back to the kitchen to finish helping setting up while Noctis turned to his blonde friend. He looked a little better now, his face still looked flushed but he didn't look pale like before, the color was starting to return to his face which made Noctis felt glad. But just to make sure that he was getting better, Noctis place his hand on the blonde forehead, so he can feel his temperature.
Prompto giggled at the sudden touch but it felt nice. He was still a bit hot but Noctis cold skin seemed to cure it. His dizziness even disappeared.
"You temperature isn't as hot as before, that's good"
"Yeah... And it's all thanks to Noct"
"Huh!"
Noct was surprised that he was the reason for it.
"What do you mean?"
"My nightmare didn't appear because you sang-"
Quickly Noctis covered his mouth but it was too late the other already heard what Prompto said. Gladio was the first one to smirk and utter his opinion.
"Oh~~ My Little Noctis, sang you a lullaby, huh!"
And that's the cue he needed to hear. Gladio won't let this up. He might as well spread it to everyone in the mansion. Noctis let out a sigh as Gladio continued to laugh. He knew that he'll be hearing this for a while but at least he's glad that he could do something for the blonde. With a soft smile, he gazed at his friend.
"I'm glad that it helps"
"It sure does, you have a really beautiful voice. I would like to hear it more sometimes"
He said giggly. Well that's that, Noctis held Prompto's hand and they went to the kitchen. They sat together at the dining table which was too small for the five of them. Not like Cor actually imagined that they had this much guest. Good thing he stocked up on plastic chairs at least they didn't have to eat on the floor. Everyone was eating the porridge and some chicken soup that both Iggy made with the help of Cor and little Noctis.
Eating it with a happy expression, Cor was glad that at least Prompto managed to let his food go down his stomach this time.
"Is it good?"
"Yeah, it is"
"Ignis was the one who made it"
Prompto looked at Ignis with a smile plastered on his face.
"Thank your Ignis for the food"
"You are welcome, Prompto. I'm glad that it suits your taste. Though I did have some helped from your father and from Noctis"
"Noct, helped too"
"Yes, he did, it was the first time he ever did"
Noctis tried to look away due to embarrassment. But he couldn't when Prompto was sitting so close to him and now beaming him with his sunshine like eyes.
"...I just wanted to help"
He finally said it, without any warning Prompto suddenly hugged his friend.
"Thank you so much, Noct, you are the best!"
He wanted to say be careful but hearing him say that, pushed down his intention to scold the blonde. Instead, he petted Prompto's head.
"You better know it"
He said with an arrogant tone. Which earned him a tighter hug from the Blonde boy. He was so happy for some reason. And it was contagious, Noctis also felt happy. It was the first time he could actually be himself around other than Ignis and Gladio.
"Okay you two, stopped being all over each other"
Cor pulled the two apart. He needs to make sure that his Son is still in arms reach. He was glaring a bit at Noctis but at this moment, the Raven didn't pay attention to it because he was still gazing at Prompto. He was so adorable eating his food. That's when he noticed that there was some food on Prompto's cheek.
Noctis touched his cheek softly to pick the food up.
"There's food on your cheek"
"Oh, thankz"
Noctis licked his finger and continued to stare at Prompto eating his food happily, completely oblivious at the eyes that were staring at them. Both Gladio and Ignis somehow knew where this will lead to but when they saw Cor was about to snap. They tried their best to convince him that they are still children they didn't know any better. Cor let out a sigh.
"I'm not giving up"
He stated, revering to Noctis who was too focused on looking his friend eat. Ignis let out a sigh as well.
"This might be a losing battle"
"They are both stubborn, I wonder how this plays out"
A war between father in law and son in law, who would win? Well, the future was never certain but everyone including Cor knew who was going to win in the end. But that doesn't matter as long as the ball of sunshine stays a ball of sunshine in their eyes.

Next Chapter
A/N: Wow! This came out a month later! A record for me! Also, I can’t believe this is the same month Beginning to End got written! Ah, I love writing for FFXV so much! Anyways, I think more info got leaked about Y/N in this chapter but next chapter! I’m gonna spoil it! Our favorite FFXV villain meets the gang! Can’t wait for those tensions to rise. Anyway, enjoy this chapter!
It was times like this you wished you paid more attention to Lunafreya whenever she mentioned her duties as oracle and what she had to do in the future to ensure Noctis rose to his calling. If you would have had put your jealousy of Noctis and Lunafreya’s relationship aside, then maybe now, at age 21, you’d know the exact location as to which Lunafreya was heading. However, you didn’t know where she was going but only knew that she was alive. If she was alive then that meant Gentiana was with her without a doubt. You knew the divine messenger would do her best to keep Lunafreya alive at all costs.
Still, you fidgeted in the cramped tent you shared with the boys as the excitement of being somewhere Lunafreya had been merely hours ago excited you. Maybe she knew you were with Noctis and left something at Lestallum to let you know she was alright? Why wasn’t it morning yet? After Ignis told you your sister was alive, you begged him to drive you guys up to Lestallum then and there. Ignis, however, told you the trip to Lestallum from where you guys were now was an entire day’s trip and it would be dangerous driving while the daemons were lurking about.
“Didn’t you see me take them on today? We can handle them!”
“It’s far too dangerous. We cannot take the risk.”
You even offered to drive for them despite not having driven a car a day before in your life. To settle your excited nerves, Ignis promised to wake up at the crack of dawn and drag Noctis and Prompto to the car in order to arrive in the city by sunset. Of course, the promise didn’t come without a compromise. In return, you had to awaken early as well and assist the older man with preparing breakfast. You tried to tell him you didn’t know how to cook – considering you acknowledged as royalty a majority of your life and having personal chefs despite being held hostage – Ignis didn’t take no for an answer.
So, here you were, snugged tightly between Noctis and Prompto. You barely had any arm room and Noctis decided to use everyone’s little space for all his limbs. That meant you had to deal with his left leg crossed over your legs and his arm stretched over your head and hand literally resting on Prompto’s face. How the blond man didn’t wake up and push him off was a mystery to you. The other side of the tent was Gladiolus and Ignis. Gladiolus – Gladdy Daddy as you preferred to call him – was balled up in a corner while Ignis was curled in the opposite one. You knew you should’ve chosen to sleep on their side. They didn’t seem to invade privacy in their sleep. Still, you chose to be next to Noctis. It was weird to you how you had been clinging to him since he found you at the diner in Hammerhead. You guess he was somewhat your prince in shining armor. You snorted slightly as the thought came to your head. A 9-year-old you would be disowning the 21-year-old you if she knew you just called Noctis that right now.
Still, seeing Noctis alive and knowing he was trying to find Lunafreya along with you made you feel safe in his presence. You remembered the time you snooped through his and Lunafreya’s notebook and saw how many times he asked about you, your life, and how he wished he could save Lunafreya and you from the Empire’s clutches. Sighing, you turned over slightly to face the new king. You froze as he shifted his leg off you and back to his own body. Seeing that he was still asleep, you let out a quiet breath you were unaware of holding.
His black hair slowly rose and fell back into place as his gentle breath blew against it. Your eyes studied his entire face and couldnt help but wonder what he was dreaming about. The frown plastered on his lips and the knitted eyebrows told you it wasn’t a pleasant dream. Was it about Lunafreya? Or his duties as the chosen king? Maybe… it was about his dad.
You knew King Regis had been officially reported dead but Noctis hadn’t brought him up in the past two days. He had to be hurting. You knew what it was like to lose a parent but not through death. Well, there was your mom. She apparently died while you were still an infant. Your father refused to mention her and banned you from ever saying her name. You assumed it was because it brought back painful memories but the angered look on your father’s face said so otherwise.
“I can’t wait for Lunafreya to see you again…” You smiled gently as you carefully brushed some of his hair from his face. He twitched slightly from your touch but the frown on his face slowly curled upwards to a tiny smile as his overall face seemed to release the tension it held before. Moving your arm back to your side, you let out a heavy sigh, and tried to fall back asleep.
~!~
“Y/N… Y/N, it’s time to wake up,” You felt yourself being shaken gently. Groaning, you opened your eyes and squinted in the darkness of the tent to make out green eyes covered by glasses. Ignis…
“Five more minutes,” You frowned as you try to shoo him away.
Ignis let out a small chuckle at your response. “Do you want to get to Lestallum in a timely manner or would you like to spend another night in a tent?”
That caused your eyes to immediately open and you to suddenly sit up. Prompto, who slept on your left side, let out an annoyed moan while his highness didn’t seem fazed from the swift movement.
           “Let’s go! Let’s get cooking!”
“Actually, Gladio is in the field waiting to train you. I’ve got breakfast covered,” Ignis said as he stood up and began to exit the tent. You arched a brow at the man. Why was Gladiolus waiting for you? Shrugging, you carefully stood up and exited the tent.
Squinting your eyes to shield them from the rising sun, you finger brushed your bed hair to somewhat tame it, making sure it covered the scar on your neck. You glanced around the campsite and saw Ignis cooking over the newly lit fire. From the smell you could tell it was bacon and maybe eggs? You weren’t too sure. Glancing over to the sandy field to your left, you saw Gladiolus skillfully swinging his sword around. Grinning, you jogged over to where he was.
“Good morning, princess,” Gladiolus greeted you without taking his focus off his sword.
“Good morning, Gladdy!” You grinned at him. Besides Noctis, you could say you were comfortable around Gladiolus. It was hard to describe but you felt protected around him. He reminded of you when you were younger and Queen Sylva had personal guards follow Lunafreya and you around, protecting you both from harm’s way. After her death, the only ones left to protect you were Imperial soldiers, also known as the ones who wanted you dead.
“Ignis said you wanted to see me?”
“Yeah, I wanted to train with you a little, see what you got,” He stopped swinging his sword and looked over at you.
“Yesterday wasn’t proof enough for you that I’m talented?” You smirked at him as you placed a hand on your hip.
“You were alright, kid. But if you’re gonna be traveling with us then you need to be prepared from some serious monsters out there.”
“I’m only with you guys until I’m back with my sister. Also, my brother has prepared me for the worst. Don’t forget I fought off an entire army of Imperials on a train by myself,” You playfully dusted off your shoulder.
“Is that all you have under your belt?” Gladiolus let out a chuckle. The smirk on your face fell at his remark. It was, in fact, all you had under your belt. You’ve never been into serious fights before.
           “Uh… well…”
“Thought so. I’m not saying you can’t kick ass. I’m just saying a little practice can go a long way, princess.”
“Okay, if you keep calling me princess then I’m calling you Gladdy Daddy,” You frowned at the older man.
Gladiolus arched a playful brow at you. “You’re a flirt, aren’t you? Do as you wish.”
You summoned your daggers as a smile appeared on your face. “Just a tad.”
~!~
“Someone’s in a good mood,” Noctis greeted you as he entered the car. You had already made yourself comfy in the middle of the backseat, impatiently waiting for the others to load the car. Gladiolus and Prompto were packing up the camp stuff while Ignis was checking the car, making sure it was ready for the long day’s trip ahead. Noctis had did his part of cleaning and packing the dishes Ignis had used earlier. You offered to help but they said they could handle everything so you just sat in the car, listening to some of the music Prompto had brought along for their road trip.
“Lunafreya’s alive! And I’m going to get more information on how she’s doing when we get to this Lestallum place! Of course, I’m in a – hey, are you okay?” Your eyes widened as Noctis suddenly grabbed his head in pain. The grimace on his face said he was in extreme pain. Panicking, you looked around for Ignis who was under the hood of the car.
“Ignis! Ignis, something wrong is with Noctis!” You called over to him in a worried voice. Ignis immediately lifted his head from the hood to see the young king in pain. Your words caused the other two men to rush over to the car in worry.
“Noct, what’s wrong?!” Gladiolus asked as he approached the raven-haired man.
Noctis let go of his head as he shook off whatever just overcame him. He looked at the guys around him before landing them on your widened ones. You knew he could see the complete worry in them as your arms stood frozen in front of you, ready to comfort him in whatever way possible.
           “I’m fine… a headache just came over me…”
“Are you sure, Noct? We have some pain meds in the glove department,” Prompto said in a shaky voice. He was just as worried as you were.
“I’m fine, really. No need to worry,” He said this while shifting his eyes over at you again. “Are we ready to go?”
“Everything is in order. Y/N, are you ready?” Ignis asked as he entered the driver’s side of the Regalia.
You just nonchalantly nodded your head at him as you kept your gaze on Noctis. He rested his head in the palm of his hand as his arm leaned against the car door. His eyes were closed and you couldn’t tell if he was sleep or just resting his eyes to recover from the pain he was just in.
“…Noctis asks about me?” A 17-year-old you asked Lunafreya one day as you caught her replying to the recent message he had sent her.
“Quite often!” Lunafreya looked up at you and gave you a genuine happy smile. “I’m so happy you two get along well now!”
“Well, I haven’t seen the guy since I was nine but, sure, we get along,” You shrugged as you plopped beside her on her bed. “What’d he say about me?”
“Shouldn’t you know? Gentiana told me you sometimes snoop in our messages?” Lunafreya smirked playfully at you. Meanwhile, your face turned beet red.
“I, uh, I was just curious! I’m sorry for eavesdropping!” You apologized nervously.
“It’s fine, Y/N. As I said, I’m overjoyed that you two get along well,” She went back to her writing. You just let a tiny smile come upon your face. Seeing Lunafreya this happy made your heart feel warm. If you knew that indirectly admitting you tolerate the young prince now would make Lunafreya so happy, you would’ve admitted to her years ago that you haven’t held a grudge against Noctis since the day you declared you both couldn’t be friends.
“He asks about your neck pains…” Lunafreya suddenly said. “He says he wishes that there was some way he could make your pain go away.”
A small blush came upon your face at her words. Your hand slowly went up to the scar on your neck. Since the injury was literally on top of an important artery in your neck, it occasionally caused an immense pain to overcome you – leaving you in complete agony for a few seconds.
“He worries about me…” You smiled slightly to yourself, unknowingly that Lunafreya heard your words. She looked up at you with a saddened smile on her face before looking back at the notebook in front of her.
“I’m fine, really, you can stop staring…” Noctis suddenly said, bringing you back to present times. You blinked at him to notice that you were, indeed, still staring at him.
“Sorry… just worried…” You let out a heavy sigh as you turned to look in front of you.
~!~
Your eyes widened in awe as the city of Lestallum slowly came into view. The sun was setting so the light shined on it to give it the feel of a haven. It was different from the city of Tenebrae which, though a city, was covered in greenery around almost every corner. As Ignis parked the car, your heart grew in excitement. Lunafreya was here just yesterday. She saw this amazing new scenery. She was breathing in the same air as you. She was alive.
You immediately began to hop out the car, climbing over Noctis in the process. The king widened his eyes at your action, only to grab hold of your waist as you almost fell out the car. You froze at the feeling of his hands on you as a light blush came upon your face. Why were you blushing? You didn’t know exactly. Maybe you were just embarrassed at how excited you were to rush into the town.
           Click!
“What the hell?” Noctis said as he immediately let go of you, causing you to fall on the ground after all.
“What the hell!?” You repeated as you sat up from the ground, glaring up at Noctis who was glaring at Prompto.
Prompto grinned innocently as he tucked his camera away. “I saw a great shot and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity!”
“The opportunity to watch me fall on my ass?” You turned the glare to Prompto. If your face was red from embarrassment before, well, now it was out of anger.
“Well, technically it was your face,” Prompto suppressed a chuckle.
“Prompto,” Ignis gave the blond a warning glare before exiting the car.
“Can you children settle down so I can go see my baby sister?” Gladiolus frowned at Noctis, Prompto, and you.
“Yeah, yeah, let’s go.” Noctis said as he exited the car, stepping over you who was still planted on the ground. He looked down briefly at you for a second before holding a hand for you to grab to pull you up. Pushing his hand aside, you jumped up and walked off to catch up with Gladiolus and Ignis who were leaving the three of you behind.
“I’ve never met Lunafreya but I can tell they’re nothing alike…” Prompto chuckled as he and Noctis watched as you excitedly pointed towards the food vendors across the street from the parking lot. He watched as you grabbed Gladiolus’s and Ignis’s hands and attempted to drag them across the street.
           “… They’re more alike than you think…”
~!~
           “Any word on the traitor?”
“Please refrain from calling my sister that-“
“Sister my ass. She’s just someone your mother took pity on and took in. You could’ve easily dropped her after we rid of your mot-“
“Aldercapt, I’ve been part of your army for the last 12 years without problem and do as you ask. Even down to the point of killing off Y/N. Leave the history between how she became part of my family out of this.”
“Your brat of a sister is a traitor to her country. What makes you think she wouldn’t betray you as well?”
“Does it matter?!” Ravus spat at Ideolas Aldercapt, the emperor of Niflheim. “She’s dead! It doesn’t matter anymore! I’ve killed my sister!”
Ravus’s knees suddenly gave out as he finally spoke the words he’s been trying to suppress the last couple of days. He killed her. He killed Y/N. When he mentioned to Aldercapt of Y/N’s 21st birthday wish, he knew it would end in the woman’s death. Her birthday just happened to fall directly in line with the Empire’s plans of overtaking Lucis and killing the royal family. Aldercapt was all for it, of course. The image of Y/N’s cheerful smile the day he told her that her request had been approved flashed through Ravus’s mind. Her going to Insomnia wasn’t even for herself. It was for Lunafreya. Everything Y/N did was for Lunafreya. Ravus did all he could to protect his blood sister but Y/N put her life in danger multiple times to protect her even more – she even gave up what – who - she wanted the most just to see Lunafreya smile.
“Why do you hate Prince Noctis?” A 16-year-old Ravus asked a nine-year old Y/N.
“He took Lunafreya from me…” The young girl pouted. “She’s mine…”
A gentle smile came across the teen’s lips as he bent down to Y/N’s height. “Is that the real reason?”
The little girl stubbornly nodded her head as she crossed her arms.
“Well, I think you’re lying,” Ravus ruffled the girl’s hair as he stood back up. The little girl in front of him face flushed before she shook her head again.
“I’m not lying, brother! Noctis irritates me! He’s always around Lunafreya, taking her attention away from me and they don’t even notice when I’m around! It’s not fair!”
“Have you tried being friends with him? You three could make an awesome trio…”
“I can’t be friends with Prince Noctis… ever,” The girl huffed but her eyes sadly drifted to the floor for a split second. Ravus arched a brow at this as he suddenly got the feeling she was hiding something. “Besides… he makes her so happy. I could never take away Lunafreya’s happiness…”
“You wouldn’t be taking her happiness by befriending the prince?” Ravus said, confusedly. What did the girl mean?
“I would…” Was all she said before she exited the young man’s room. Ravus sat on his bed deep in thought. He knew the young girl was experiencing her first crush but… what else was she hiding?
“Ah, young high commander, your dear sister is not dead… and I’m not talking about Lunafreya either,” A voice, in a poetic tone which each word he spoke, said as footsteps clicked on the floor towards Aldercapt and Ravus.
“Chancellor Izunia!” Aldercapt said. “What’s wrong? How’s the plan going? What do you mean the traitor isn’t dead?”
The red-haired main tilted the brim of his hat up as he smirked at the men before him. “Call me Ardyn, please…”
~!~
Your eyes widened in awe as the five of you entered the hotel in Lestallum. You couldn’t remember the last time you stepped foot inside a nice hotel. Though it was only a couple of days ago since you went to Insomnia, it felt like it had been ages. You eagerly went up to the receptionist desk with Prompto and Ignis as Gladiolus and Noctis sat around the white plush couch that served as the centerpiece of the hotel lobby.
“Uh… room for… two, I guess?” Ignis said unsurely as he shifted his eyes over to you. You returned his gaze as a smirk appeared on your face.
“Tired of sharing sleeping spaces with me already, Specs,” You said his nickname that you’ve heard the other guys toss around a couple of times while traveling. You stifled in a giggle as the man’s face began to turn red and his glasses fogged slightly.
“N-no, it’s just I thought maybe you’d like your own space…” He stammered as he cleared his throat and turned his attention back to the receptionist. Prompto threw you a look which you only responded with an innocent smile.
“I’m sorry, sir.  We only have one room available as we’re hosting refugees from Insomnia. However, there is one room that is being occupied by a guest who I’m sure wouldn’t mind sharing…” The receptionist apologized.
“Who?” You arched a brow. This was too much trouble. You weren’t up for spending the night with a stranger. You’d rather bunk with the boys. Besides, you’ve gotten used to their presence. You were afraid your feelings of loneliness would return if you were apart from them.
“Gladdy!” A high-pitched, excited voice yelled out as a pair of feet could be heard thumping down the carpeted stairs of the hotel lobby. You turned your attention to the girl who you decided stole the half of the nickname you came up for Gladiolus. Your eyes widened as a young girl, maybe 15 or 16, ran over to Gladiolus and attacked him in a hug. You watched as he ruffled the girl’s hair – much to her dismay – before returning her hug.
“Iris Amicitia. Gladio’s little sister…” Ignis whispered over to you. Ah, so that’s why she was so excited to see the big guy. Prompto, Ignis, and you walked over to the hugging siblings as Noctis stood up. As Iris removed herself from Gladiolus, she looked at Noctis and her eyes immediately widened.
“Noctis! You’re alive! I mean, of course you’re alive, but-“ You tuned her out as you watched her ramble on. You took in her posture as she spoke to Noctis who seemed happy to see her but also as if he wanted something else out of the young woman. She was shorter than Noctis – slightly taller than yourself – and her hands didn’t know where they wanted to rest as if they were constantly anxious. A blush that was on her pale face now but wasn’t there before caught your attention as well. The girl – Iris – also seemed to sway a little and lean in towards Noctis as he spoke to her. A smirk immediately enlightened your lips as you realized; Iris Amicitia had a crush on Noctis.
“How cute,” You said to yourself.
“What is?” Prompto asked as he looked over to you. You just shrugged to let him to brush it off.
               “Iris, this is Y/N Nox Fleuret… she’s L-“
“Lady Lunafreya’s sister!” Another high-pitched voice said. “Wow! She wasn’t lying when she said she had a sister! And she’s pretty!”
“Talcott, show respect,” An older, mature voice said.
You turned towards the stairs again and saw a little boy and an old man descending the flight. Well, the little boy was running while the old man took his time. The little kid – Talcott, you guessed was his name – ran to you and did a complete bow much to your surprise.
“Uh… kid… it’s okay. I’m not really royalty…” You nervously laughed as you awkwardly patted his bowed head. He immediately shot up and grinned at you before turning his attention to Noctis.
“Whoa! Prince Noctis! I’m like your biggest fan! I think you’re so-“
“Talcott! That’s enough!” The old man said as he finally caught up to the crowd. “Your highness, it’s a pleasure…”
“Jared…” Noctis nodded his head at the old man.
“I’m sorry to hear about your father… he was a good friend of mine…”
Noctis immediately tensed up at the mentioning of his father but let it go soon after. “It’s okay… part of life… I guess. I heard Luna was here…”
“She was! She’s so pretty!” Talcott said. “I wish to marry someone as pretty as her one day like you are, Prince Noctis!”
At this, Noctis shot you a look which caused you to arch your brow. What was with the sudden look? He should be agreeing with the kid like you were. Noctis better be grateful someone as beautiful as Lunafreya even gave him the time of day.
“Speaking of Luna…” Noctis spoke up as he turned his attention to Iris and Jared.
               “Ah, right, Lady Lunafreya…”
~!~
It turned out the woman who didn’t mind sharing her hotel room with you was Iris. That made you feel somewhat better as she was the sister of Gladiolus and she seemed like a pretty chill teenager. She noticed how badgered your clothes were and lent you some of her pajamas and even promised to take you into the city in the morning to buy you some more clothing for the trip. Her treat. You sat on the hotel bed across from hers as you watched her prepare for bed. She somewhat reminded you of Lunafreya as she prepped herself by washing her face and teeth thoroughly, then brushing her hair and tying it up in a red headband to keep the hair out of her face during the night. You could easily tell she was part of the royalty life – even if it was just by her family protecting the past kings and queens of Lucis.
“So, Y/N… do I call you Lady Y/N?” Iris arched a brow at you as she sat across from you on her bed, finally finished with her routine.
“Just call me Y/N,” You shrugged at the girl.
“Cool, cool. So, I know I told you and the guys earlier about Lady Lunafreya’s plan…”
Apparently, Lunafreya was going around awakening the Gods so they could lend their power to Noctis. Ultimately, everyone would meet in Altissia – the original place Noctis was supposed to meet her. In the end, it would help Noctis fulfil his duties.
“Yeah… thanks for telling me she’s safe… I was so worried,” You let out a heavy breath you’ve been holding in for a while.
“No problem, however, Lady Lunafreya… she’s super worried about you…”
Your eyes widened at Iris’s words. “What? Why”
“She thinks… you’re dead…” Iris said slowly as if wanting you to take in each word she said. Lunafreya thought you were dead? Why would she think that? If anything, for the past couple of days, you thought she was dead. Lunafreya was well aware you could handle yourself against enemies. She often warned you not to start drama with the guards who roamed the castle in Tenebrae, after all. What gave off the impression that you were dead, unless, she knew of the Empire’s plan to attack Insomnia. However, that didn’t sound right as she was so excited as she secretly prepared to be wedded to Noctis. She must’ve recently found out another way – that meant she also knew Ravus betrayed you as a brother.
“How? Why? Is she okay? What did she say?” You eagerly asked Iris as you felt warm tears filling up your eyes. If Lunafreya thought you were dead then you knew she was probably staggering along in her journey broken on the inside. Lunafreya wasn’t the type to let her inner emotions show to the world as she was constantly under the spotlight as oracle. If the oracle was crying or upset about something, then the world needed to start preparing for the worst. The thought of Lunafreya suffering from being ignorant of your current status bothered you. You had to find a way to tell her you were alive and okay. But how? There was Umbra but you hadn’t seen your beloved companion since he ditched at the train station in Insomnia. Was Umbra even still alive?
“She had some dark, mysterious woman with her and a white dog,” Iris said. You knew immediately who she was referring to – Gentiana and Pryna. “The dark lady said something about another dog unable to pick up your scent to find you and she couldn’t locate you, either. I wish I knew you were with Gladdy at the time, I would’ve let them know you were okay.”
“Thanks, Iris…” Was all you said as you took the information in. Why couldn’t Umbra and Gentiana locate you? Was there some sort of mysterious force around you that made it difficult to locate? At least you knew that Umbra was still alive and actively searching for you. You knew once he eventually found you, you’d leave the boys and go with the dog back to Lunafreya.
“No problem, but hey, shouldn’t we get some sleep? I overheard from Talcott and Jared that you guys were going to some waterfall cave to get a royal arm tomorrow.”
“Yeah…” Was all you said as you fully climbed into bed, suddenly remembering you probably had a long day ahead of you in the morning. “You’re right. I forgot.”
“No problem! Just don’t forget that you, Noctis, and I are going shopping tomorrow! You can’t back out of it,” Iris sent you a playful glare. You let out a small chuckle at the girl as you closed your eyes.
               “I won’t forget.”

The setting sun still stings as Prompto exits the subway station.
Nothing like that morning, no blinding lights or white hot pain, but more like an irritating prickle across the skin he couldn't cover on his face.
Prompto sighs.  How irritating.
Thankfully, Cor's place isn't too far of a walk from the station.  A wave to the doorman, up 3 flights of stairs and the familiar succulents outside of the door.  Home.
Or at least it used to be, he supposes.  He should start referring to his new place as his home, but old habits are hard to break.  Pausing before knocking on the door, Prompto isn't sure exactly why he is so nervous.  Hasn't Cor always been the most understanding parent he could have asked for?  How is this any different?
Before he can hesitate any longer, the door opens for him. "Hey kid."  Cor stands there, stoic as always yet with a welcoming grin.  Prompto must have looked confused as Cor waves him in, "I saw you heading up from the window.  Come on in, I made some of those old deep fried meat pies you like, extra rare for ya."
Prompto licks his lips as he follows Cor inside.  Inhaling, he takes in the scent of the meat pies mixed with vanilla and leather.  Yup. Smells like home. Prompto sits down and wastes no time beginning to devour the meat pie before him.
Cor laughs, "That good, huh? Glad I still have that old recipe laying around."  They both eat in relative silence, waiting for the other to bring up the reason for them being there.
Eventually, as last of the pie is swallowed by Prompto, he gives in. "So... Um, you wanted to talk to me? About this weird... sun stuff or... whatever?"  Ugh why does this have to be so awkward.  He hates having other people worry about his health. Why couldn't have normal allergies? Like... pollen or peanuts or dogs... wait no, not dogs, he'd much rather be allergic to the sun than any dog.
Cor puts down his fork and folds his hands together on the table in front of him.  Steadily, he asks, "What are your furthest memories, whatever you can think of."
Prompto sighs, "Cor... you know I..."
"Reach back.  As far as you can.  Try for me."
Squeezing his eyes shut, Prompto attempts to force his mind to remember... something, anything.
"I... All I can remember is when you found me, there were bright lights and you telling me everything was going to be alright... keeping me calm."  Prompto opens his eyes.  Shaking his head, he continues, "I can't remember anything before that.  Nothing solid.  There are... flashes, I remember pain... some places, but nothing I can put a name or a face to.  I'm sorry..."
Cor nods slowly, reassuring him, "You have nothing to be sorry about.  I was just hoping... well it makes sense anyway.  When I found you...  I honestly didn't think you were going to make it.  You were in agony. The screams alone... I knew I had to do something.  You were hidden in an alley downtown, I barely heard you over the sounds of the traffic."
Standing suddenly, Cor makes his way to the kitchen window.  Looking out, he continues, "You hear of these things on the news, but seeing someone in such bad condition in person... Nothing can prepare you for that.  You kept trying to stand, but there were gashes all over your body, it looked like some kind of wild animal had tried to destroy you.  It took everything out of me trying to keep you calm while the paramedics came...
"And this was all in broad daylight.  Noon.  On one of the hottest days of the year.  Your clothes were in tatters, and you kept saying the same things over and over again, 'It's too bright, I'm on fire, Put out the fire'.   It was horrible.  I remember... at one point you looking at me directly in the eye asking me to end it all. I think... that was when I knew I was sticking with you.  You needed someone at that moment, and damn if it wasn't going to be me."
Prompto stares at a spot in front of him on the table.  He can't remember exactly what happened to him that day, but if what Cor is describing was correct... "So... it was the sun that I was in agony over, not the injuries."
Cor nods, turning back around to face Prompto, "I thought that couldn't be it... but ever since that day you refused to go outside during daylight.  Especially on sunny days.  I thought at first maybe it was just from the trauma you experienced... but I don't think that's exactly the case."
Cor thinks for a moment, then asks, "Do you remember being hospitalized? Or anything after the day I found you?"
Nodding, Prompto fiddles with his napkin, trying to remember, "Just barely.  I kept going in and out of consciousness.  I remember they wouldn't tell me a lot about what was wrong with me, but they kept trying to figure out who I was.  I only knew my first name... And then they said you were going to be my caretaker."
Cor smiles and slides his phone across the table.  The picture shows Prompto in bandages over most of his body, but he was smiling from ear to ear.  Next to him was Cor, with his usual reserved smile, one arm around Prompto, the other holding what looked to be adoption papers.
"I never thought I wanted children." Cor's face softens as Prompto swipes through photos of them together, at parks, concerts, or just in their home.  All of them with as little sunlight as possible.
"Although I suppose you never really counted as a ‘child’, but choosing to adopt you, son, was the best decision I ever made.  I can't imagine... If I hadn't taken the long route home from work that day... what could have... what might have happened..."
"Dad..."  Prompto stops him, handing him back the phone as he scoots closer.  "You don't have to..."
Cor smiles at the photo left on the screen: A simple picture of Prompto at a lookout over Insomnia, taking his own photos in the sunset.  "I guess what I'm trying to say is, we both needed each other.  I don't like the word 'fate' but it’s hard to find a better way to describe the feeling."
Clicking off his phone he puts it back in his pocket as he folds his hands in his lap.  "But you're not here to listen to me gush.  When you called I could tell... you're still in pain, aren't you?"
Prompto shifts in his chair, furrowing his brow. "Yeah.  I tried going outside again, and it’s like... everything was on fire.  Like every nerve was being struck by lightning at once. This isn't just something in my head, Dad, it can't be."
"I know.  Well... I know you've heard the story of my finding you many times.  But I haven't always told you everything."
This makes Prompto sit straight up.  "Wait, what? There's more?
Cor sighs, "Your doctor, Regis, wanted me to keep this quiet. He seemed to think that-"
"Wait wait wait, Regis? As in, Noct's father the doctor Regis? As in my roommate's dad?"
"Ah... yes.  That... plays into it. See... when you were healing from your wounds, traditional medicine was not working on you.  Not that you didn't heal, in fact you healed so quickly it was unheard of.  They kept you in the hospital longer than necessary in order to not alert anyone to the... strange circumstances.  They couldn't get any accurate readings from any tests they did on your blood, and your skin healed too quickly for them to do any biopsies. Honestly, it was lucky I had called Regis in the first place.  We both understood each other, knew if you had gotten in the wrong hands, you could have been tested on, treated as some sort of experiment, especially as someone without any memories or family to speak of."
Prompto stares at him, jaw wide open. "I'm sorry, what?"  He couldn't believe what he was hearing, how could he not have known any of this?
"I'm sorry to have kept this from you. We felt it best to observe you in a safe environment, to let you have a normal life, but also protect you from someone who might try to hurt you.  And since we found you in the way we did... it was a possibility we couldn't rule out. We... I did this to make sure you were safe."
Getting up suddenly, Prompto walks to the window. "So, when did you think you were going to clue me in on all this huh?  Did you experiment on me? Don't you think I should have known about this?  And now... why let me go now?"
Cor closes his eyes, breathing deeply, "I was getting to that part.  When Regis's son wanted to find a roommate downtown... well it seemed like the perfect opportunity to let you leave without being too far away from us... or with someone untrustworthy."
Prompto looks at the darkening city through the glass, trying to keep his emotions in check.  He thought being independent was his first big decision, that for once he was in control... "So. Is Noctis in on this as well?"   Is he just one more part of his life that was a lie?
"No.  He knows nothing.  When I said we kept this quiet, I meant it.  It’s... a need to know basis.  We just thought... this way at least you could live with someone your age, if not make a new friend or two."
Prompto grabs his coat and keys from the side table and shoves it on. Before he can make it out the door, Cor calls out, "Prompto!"
Stopping in the doorway but refusing to turn around, he replies, "What."
"Son... just know that I would never make you do anything you wouldn’t want to do.  You can choose your own path.  You can always choose."
Hiding the few tears that have spilled from his eyes, Prompto mutters under his breath, "That's what they always say."
He slams the door behind him before Cor can say ‘I love you.’
