AoT peeps as fellow students I saw at orientation for my masters degree today:

Mikasa: the girl with really pretty hair and fashionable gothic attire despite the fact that it’s summer

Eren: the boy getting attacked by a spur-winged plover (aggressive swampy bird) because he cut across the field to get to class

Armin & Historia: the pair of short, enthusiastic, blonde orientation staff waving signs and helping everyone find their classes (they’re godsends)

Annie: the girl who missed half of the welcoming ceremony because student jiu jitsu club ran over time

Bertholdt: the really, really tall kid who the camera operator had to manoeuvre around to actually capture the stage

Reiner: the guy convincing everyone to join sport club teams, not wearing student staff uniform, wearing his gym gear instead

Ymir: the girl who drove in the ‘exit only’ because she couldn’t be assed doing a U-turn to find the main entrance

Jean: the art kid who isn’t invested because they’re only taking one filler paper here, and all the rest at the art-based, city campus

Marco: the really friendly boy making friends with everyone he talks to and somehow managing to relieve everyone’s anxiety with an encouraging smile and thumbs up during awkward ice-breakers

Connie: the kid who forgot to take his hat off during the religious welcoming ceremony then almost tripped over a chair because he was trying to find himself on the wide-screen shot of the crowd

Sasha: the girl eating three cough drops a minute because ‘they don’t count as food so the no eating in the assembly hall rule doesn’t apply’

Erwin: the principal who’s speech went 20 minutes over time and spanned three different languages somehow

Hange: the lab tech who brought a box of jars for new students to see as a show-and-tell session instead of an actual introduction to the course

Levi: the admin person who doesn’t actually have a clear job role but decided to ditch his session as an orientation because he hates new students wandering around like lost sheep

(+ bonus) Floch: the kid who threw a rock at an automatic sprinkler and accidentally sprayed a line of construction workers on lunch break and then yelled “this is where our tax money goes!”

Guess Who I Am (2024)

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Supernatural, Thriller

Main Actors: Wang Zi Qi, Zhang Yu Xi, Ke Nai Yu, Han Dong Lin, Wang Jia Yin

Plot: Song Yan is a girl who can make rich men fall in love with her just by looking into her eyes, and she uses these powers for chaotic neutral (mostly to punish scumbags, as her team has been hired to). Qin Hao is scheming to act like the long-lost son of a CEO, weaseling his way into the business to find out clues from his own past and get revenge. The two meet and sparks fly, leading the duo to become an unlikely fake couple for their own separate purposes. Some parts were a little melodramatic or overly tropey but I believe the ending explains it nicely enough, and honestly I like a little self-aware fun being picked at tropes and cliches. (7.9/10)

Relationship: I was a little concerned at first and then remembered it was a fake relationship; they both deserved each other, being petty, vindictive enemies-to-lovers. Once they were actually lovers and not enemies cosplaying as lovers they had a decently healthy relationship (though of course they couldn't resist the classic hiding-things-for-your-own-good trope). However, once they actually worked together, they were a communicative power couple that slayed together. Their teams' relationships amongst each other and the other team's members were quite entertaining to watch as well. I wouldn't have minded more scenes focused on one of the side ships. (8.1/10)

Characters: The characters were interesting, flawed, and still entertaining. If there's one thing a C-Drama does right, it's giving the second love interest a decent character arc and growth beyond focusing on their crush. The second male love interest was annoying at first but really grew on me; I liked his arc by the end. I'm beyond curious what the two main villains' relationship was to each other and a little miffed that it wasn't explanded on more (likely gay). (8/10)

Favourite Quote/Scene: -

Final Thoughts: This was a pretty good drama. The communication cancelled out the miscommunication, and the scheming was great fun to watch. A nice short drama at only 24 half-hour episodes. (8.2/10)

I was just skimming this show for Happy Ghost’s actor, hoping he might interact with Beauty Ghost once or twice. I didn’t expect to be emotionally devastated and compelled by his tragic relationship with a puppy-dog-eyed arsonist, but here we are.

no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD
