The two things I know about Cao Rui before watching Growling Tiger, Roaring Dragon is that he feeds his eunuch by hand and sometimes dresses up like his mother, so seeing him feed his mother by hand while she’s dressed like a eunuch near the end of The Advisors Alliance had me cackling 😹

Lei Wujie and Xiao Se’s dynamic is so fun, I really love their relationship in the novel!
As for fanfic, I’m a little surprised there isn’t more written about the popular pairings, though I mainly write whatever old/middle-aged side characters I have ideas for. Honestly, there’s so many amazing, fun, and interesting characters in the show that it makes sense that the fandom’s interests are so varied 😺
I finished The Blood of Youth and I have a doubt:

I was tagged by @jianghushenanigans! I've been a little slow on getting back to writing after my end-of-the-year scramble, but I've been pecking a bit at my pile of partially-written drafts to see which ones I consider in-progress rather than dormant. Lately, that's been an old fragmented outline of a time loop fic focusing on the conflict between Jin Xian and Jin Xuan, and a fic that explores what could have happened if Jin Yan really had gotten his body signed with the rebellious officials' names--a possibility that Prince Chi wondered about during Jin Yan's strip tease for the Emperor in the novel. I'm not sure if I'll finish either fic, but I'm having fun with the ideas.
W - “Where did you get this boldness, hm? Surely not from your coward of a shifu.” He leaned closer. “How did you persuade him? I thought Zhuo Qing’s death would be enough to keep Zhuo Xin quiet in the mausoleum for the rest of his days.”
R- Rough hands brushed over the signatures carved into his skin. “I want the names destroyed.”
I- “If you leave off even a single name and I feel it, both of you will be charged with treason.”
S - “Shengshang, he can’t see me like this. Please—”
T - “This isn’t working,” Ji Xue stated. “Maybe after a couple hundred more cycles I’ll be able to figure out a way to beat the Director. For now, last as long as you can. Distract him.”
