They literally go to west China and meet the farmers that grow it to stock the tea shop. Not only is the tea quite delicious, but there is a super lovely and knowledgeable group of folks run that place, you can feel the spiritual oneness upon entering the premises. It's a very nice ambiance and pleasant non alcoholic alternative for people who don't drink or are tired of the bar scene, but would like to go out with friends and meet new people. They always have all sorts of events, fun, informative, therapeutic and more. Drop by if you're in Austin or get something online when they update the site. The Guan Yin Tea House aims to spread Chinese tea culture and the art of gong fu cha, or tea service, they offer farm-direct tea, artisan teaware, tea tastings, classes, and workshops. #2018bestnine for me. Life conspired to slow my tea activity in the latter part of the year, but I still had some amazing experiences (mostly not captured by the photos above). These included starting my own basic pumidor, finding a Sydney tea friend crazier than I am (@spacepirate1), visiting a number of tea houses abroad (@guanyinteahouse, @redblossomteacompany, @imperialteacourt, @floatingleavestea and @phoenixteashop to name a few) and meeting some Seattle-based tea folk like @teadborg, @teavoyeur and @oolongowl. Also delighted to discover new local tea places like @foursisterstea and @at_tea_duo, run several events for my work tea club (including one at @topotea) and attend the @sydneyteafestival, where I was able to catch up with many existing tea friends and meet @cuppachahq and pu'er anthropologist Jinghong Zhang for the first time. Special thanks to @teashirtsau for being a pillar of the local tea community in Sydney (well, Australia really).
