Haunted House

Danny and Damian are pretending to be dating to get their respective friends and family to stop trying to set them up with people. Damian isn't one to do things half way, though. Obviously, they have to go on a fake date in order to sell their act.

They go to an amusement park. They saw animals, went on plenty of different rides, ate food... Everything was going pretty well. That is until the haunted house themed ride.

The Box Ghost - getting impatient while waiting for Danny to show up to their scheduled fight - had decided that the boxes in the haunted house that were being used as props were great. Especially for throwing at unsuspecting people.

Pokémon Pocket Monsters HG SS Volume 1 - Chapter 4

Red attempts to capture Entei, Suicune, and Raikou.

The manga's getting heated up now! The roaming legendary Pokémon of Johto show up and Red actually tries to catch more Pokémon who aren't Clefairy, Pikachu, and Tyrogue. The chapter even starts with a double spread, so you know it's serious.

It's nice to see that Red is taking his job as a Trainer more seriously. I feel like he was slacking off a bit during the DP saga. Now he's got 3 legendary Pokémon to aid him and has amassed a full party of 6! (Sans Ditto who he either sent to Professor Oak or probably released.)

Kurt also makes a return here. But unlike in a previous chapter, he actually gives Red his custom Poké Balls instead of a regular one. I think this is one of the better uses of the character, and I feel like he's done better for himself since the GS saga where he was poor and couldn't get any customers.

Overall, this is an excellent chapter. It makes good use of an older character, focuses on character growth, and adds some much-needed excitement with the legendary Pokémon and their capture. Things are looking up for Pokémon Pocket Monsters and they'll only get better as the story continues!

TRANSLATOR'S NOTES

In the first and second pages, Clefairy makes a few jokes regarding the legendary Pokémon's names.

Suicune and "udon" were easy to translate into English.

But Entei and "gardening" and Raikou and "come to light" were a bit more tricky.

My Characters

Thought I might as well do this since I like how a few of my in-game characters turned out, so here's my roster so far (subtracting a few that are in limbo). Tried to put it in order to most to least used. I'm not one to make my in-game characters as OCs, but I still like to give them a name/aesthetic/theme that matches together (and colour-coordinated) so it sort of seems like they could (also for fashion wars reasons. Name above their respective images below). Also I like giving them singular names. (oh gosh I really hope this automatically shrinks the length of the post bc it's not giving me the "Read More" option >_>') My Main: Vespaura (Mesmer/Mirage). Crystal Bloom/Branded themed. Still waiting for proper crystal aesthetic looks lol (none available in game atm are what I'm looking for). I'm pretty much on her almost all of the time since I'm a ho for Open world and I love GS lasers, clones, portals, and evasion hax (I'm squishy so I need the survivability and sustain, and I tag almost everything, so it works well when doing metas and stuff).

Mourynn (Necromancer/Scourge) - This is the one I took my OC's name from lol, so it's funny seeing her in game bc I forget sometimes lsjflksf. I Tried to make her look like an infected/toxic/poisonous Awakened Nightmare Courtier Duchess, and the squiggly tentacles are meant to portray turning into the necrotic glider below. I really wanna get her a bunch of Mordy and Zhaitan leggies (one day~)

Ferahla (Revenant/Renegade) - I actually updated her back piece and colours a bit since this new back piece was released bc it fit her look much more. I tried to make her look gnarly (also this outfit makes her look a bit nakey, but I'm kind of okay with that tbh alsjflskdjf), and I'm trying to match her to the Chuka leggy for whenever I get around to finishing it. Renegade is also one of my favourite specs cuz I like being at ranged and having the support of Kalla and her Lesbian Warband.

Faihan (Ranger/Soulbeast) - I still adore her look and her name is one of my favourites too. I was sort of going for a pheonix/firebird Hunter (bloodborne) kinda vibe. I couldn't decide between capes so she has one for Power and one for Condi. Also it's tricky to dress for leather armour, so I like how this turned out.

Vaipaura (Mesmer/Virtuoso) - All my mesmers have similar names bc I think it's funny to headcanon they're just different AUs of each other (not gonna show Chrono here bc she's in Limbo. Her name is Vastaura). I wanted to give Vaipaura a Regal Canthan Noble Madam kinda vibe (also I just love the combo of this outfit and backpiece). She also has Exordium cuz it also matches this look too. However I still heavily prefer playing Mirage bc despite this one being great for DPS and very neat. It's just super squishy with not a lot of survivability/sustain and no clones to distract, and it feels so slow, but regardless it is still fun to play as well (I just miss spamming dodge all the time :( I also miss my clones)

Mortesque (Necromancer/Reaper) - I'm not 100% sure if this will be the final look for her or not, but I was mostly just trying to match her to Zhaitan's Bite when I finally unlocked it a little while back. As you can tell I really like greatswords (the only 3 leggies I have are GS lol)

Shroudryss (Thief/Specter) - My newest sapling. I'm stll not 100% sure about the outfit, but it'll do for now. Specter is really fun!! I really like fancy magical mobile classes. I need to play thief way more tbh since it's more of less up my alley (this one will be my first to go to)

Jadesta (Engineer/Mechanist) - Her name and look are very on the nose. HOWEVER I am proud of the name I gave to her mech: Caladborg (also I really like the Aetherblade look here and at least it's easy/fun to give her stuff for fashion wars)

Prismysta (Revenant/Herald) - I wanted to make her fit the pretty pearlescent look of Glint's facets, and I did want one light-themed cute character. Also there was just so many pretty pieces that wouldn't work with Vespaura that I thought it'd work well for her!

Hexirax (Thief/Daredevil) - I still super need to change her name bc it for sure as hell does not suit her at all lmao!! But since I still needed a pink Sylvari, I thought it would be funny to make it my Daredevil (also the weapon worked well for this so I made her Sakura themed. Her outfit is still subject to change if I find something better)

Vallotash (Guardian/Dragonhunter) - Still not sure what to do with her yet (might switch her elite spec, idk yet), but I'm still super proud of her name and I forgot I made this look on her. I like the colour combo, and I still might keep it (subject for change tho, but I don't hate it)

Okay so I did a count of the assumed associations in the Pokemon timelines. Because I guess I hate myself tonight?

BW1 -> BW2. Literally the only hard confirmed thing in the series.

Y -> GS/C. Confirmed based on Red having all three starters, Blue having none. Though I'm just going to say it. Blue not having Eevee? Means that Gen 2 might actually be entirely separated timelines from the Gen 1 games we played. Nothing maps perfectly, and with alternate timelines existing, we can retroactively cast doubt on their continuity.

Y -> HGSS. Same as above. That's right, HGSS cannot possibly occur after FRLG, given the team composition. And the difference in Red's team suggests alternate timeline as well. Notably, HGSS could, in theory, lead to SuMo and USUM timelines, but those have Mega Evolution which is canonically a different timeline indicator from games without megas per Delta Episode.

HGSS -> BW1 -> BW2. We know Gen 2 goes to BW1 based on the ex-Rocket house. However, we can confidently saw that BW timeline exists alongside the remake timeline, because of Sabrina in PokeStar Studios. Sabrina has the (incorrect) short hair based on her HGSS presence, eliminating GS or C from possibility.

Platinum -> BW1. Caitlin. Note that Cynthia looks exactly no different, however, despite an allegedly large time jump per fan timelines. Which implies either (1) Caitlin hit a growth spurt in whatever timeframe occurred, which could be lengthy or could be as short as like four years, or (2) they're not actually associated at all, as Caitlin doesn't have Darach, and barring the commentary about not being allowed to battle, I don't think makes mention of the Battle Castle in Gen 5 at all. And I know what you're thinking. "Couldn't HGSS also attach to BW1?" Very unclear, considering that DPPt and HGSS take place at nebulously the same time, with Jasmine also occupying two places at once and having contradictory voice lines on which one happened first, so there's also the possibility that DP and Pt are separate timelines from HGSS. Which, further note: yes, DP and Pt are separate timelines just like all the third games.

R/S/E -> BW2. The Rocket house is occupied by former Magma and Aqua grunts. There are two reasons I'm not including HGSS in this mix. First, we don't know for sure that RSE took place before or after HGSS. Second, we don't have anything to connect RSE to HGSS itself. These grunts could be associated with the teams, but notably only talk about not letting the other know about their past, not any specific deed committed. Unlike the Rocket Grunt who can be placed by dialect, we don't know these goons. RSE may not have even happened yet, to say nothing of how R, S, and E are all different timelines given the wildly different events and we'd have no way of knowing which one they came from.

XY/ORAS -> SuMo. We assume, given the presence of mega evolution, but there's not anything I can think of to sincerely connect them together. They could just as easily be associated with USUM, but there's nothing to ensure those either.

Pt -> XY/ORAS -> SuMo or USUM. Because Looker. Now of course, this is impossible, as Platinum does not have mega evolution, so are we dealing with separate Lookers? I've heard theory that ORAS amnesia Looker is also a Faller, but if that's the case then he has no association at all with Gen 7 Looker, who does not seem to be pursued by the UBs in the same way as Anabel, nor is he used by Interpol the same way. It's also impossible to tell if ORAS took place before XY and he's better now, and that's why in XY he seems like a bit more of a mess, or if XY was first and wherever he was off to next didn't go so great.

Legends Arceus -> BDSP. Yes, specifically. Why? Raminas Flowers. Those don't exist in DPPt, only in BDSP does Raminas mean anything. By extension, the Legends Arceus events cannot be confirmed to have happened in DPPt timeline.

RB/Y -> SuMo. I'm bringing this up because it's wrong wrong wrong! Mega Evolution timelines do not intersect with non-mega evolution timelines! RBY and SuMo cannot possibly be related, yet the entire fan timeline bases itself on this association, because the Porygon Dex entry in SuMo said it was made 20 years ago, while some outside book source stated Porygon was made around 1 year prior to RB, thus setting the timeline between those games at 19-20 years. You want to know why? Because that's how many real world years passed. SuMo released in 2016, RB in 1996. It's just a reference to reality, not anything happening in the games' reality. It's made up, guys. The dex says Pyroar can breathe fire hotter than the Sun, sometimes it's stupid.

As far as I'm aware, literally any other association between two games is pure speculation. And even most of this isn't hard confirmation.

This person doesn't realize how much it means to me that they are asking for Kaveh build advice. FROM MEEE?¿?¿?¿?

I wrote a mini-essay for them because I don't gatekeep in this house. Kaveh and any 4 star, if they're not meta like Xiangling, Bennett, or Fischl, already get enough hate from the Genshin community for "having shit builds." So, if I can build the Kaveh community, I will.

With that being said, if anyone wants to go over any creative Kaveh or team builds, I'm open to toss ideas around.

For this person, to make my mini-essay more mini,

DPS Kaveh with a Deepwood set (flower, feather, ATK% sands, Dendro dmg goblet, and Crit circlet). Weapon can be any of choice among the DPS claymores (Wolf's GS, Serpent Spine, Redhorn, even Verdict). Teammates: Xianyun and two buffers, they chose Bennett and Furina.

Verdict is an interesting choice. I understand if it's for the drip, but it's an atk and crit rate stat stick. Its passive relies on Geo and the crystalize reaction to get its full use. So, Yun Jin would be a good choice. She'll also buff his normal attack.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, everything they put on social media feels so soulless. No fan interaction except for song requests for setlists or asking people to buy tickets to shows. Like what were the last 3 reels on insta? I had to watch it a couple times because I could not decide if it was supposed to be funny or not or what it actually meant to say? I still haven’t decided, is it just a really bad tour promotion? They have become so bad at social media it’s unbelievable and I’m not sure what happened, are they just so out of touch with their fans? It’s so strange. Like selling this Calm Down version as for the fans? Show me one person who asked for that. Their whole brand has always been about them being in it together with the fans and just to have fun together and be there for each other but now it seems like there is a line between the fans and them mingling with the bigger name people. You are completely right about the DP era and I feel like their blessing in disguise has always been precisely that they were never too mainstream so they had to rely on the real interactions with fans, which are now crumbling with their eyes set on different goals. I remember listening to a podcast with Ashley Osborn where she talked about how when they were on tour (pre-pandemic), she usually posted all the content and made updates on stories throughout the day, went and talked to the people in line, took photos and did M&Gs and just talked about how important and just fun it was for fan interaction and also for her. In 2018 they even did the green room sessions thing which was awesome and did weekly recaps on yt. It felt so much more natural than the mindless (sometimes funny) tiktok videos they do now. Mostly I just cringe and then I’m sad because it doesn’t feel authentic. Somebody please just bring Ashley back! I’m sorry, I feel a little heated today..

Their social media presence crushes me!!! They had already been much more ahem presentable for years and imo were doing great showing personality and interaction but not being offensive (lol). Now it’s the blandest lack of personality. I get not wanting to dive into comments where people are calling you heinous names! I get not wanting to seem too engaging after you’ve been accused of taking advantage of that engagement! It’s a fucked up line to walk that everything they ever did and made their entire brand has now been decontextualized and demonized. But flipping a switch and hiding out isn’t going to help rebuild. For the love of god, do not make multiple videos of Rian leading conversation!! That is the last thing those of us that have really stuck by this band want. The concept of showing boys in a room interacting in uninteresting ways…. I know they’re scared but they also haven’t fucking pandered and idk who needs to hear this but a little pander to keep the rest of us engaged while you figure out the sanitized brand would be lovely. When I was a child, I caught a random shiny Clamperl in Sapphire before I even knew what a shiny was. And I want to say that younger me had thought it was due to some gender differences, but I don't know if that's what I really thought because gender differences weren't a thing until DP and I played GS so I would have seen the shiny Gyrados from before. Of course child me could just have not noticed any of these things which is... a complete possibility.

My current favorite ice cream flavor is this lemon & blueberry parfait from Jeni's. It's so sweet and tart. And the two pints I've had of it so far has been like very soft. Easy to scoop. So so far, it has been consistent in its creamy texture. Hopefully the third will be the same. Oh and I like this flavor so much that I bought both an ice cream scoop whose line apparently has been being used in ice cream parlors for 75 years now for its ease of use and a bowl that you leave in the freezer so keep your ice cream cool. It has made me into an ice cream fiend.

Pokémon Pocket Monsters DP Volume 1 - Chapter 10

Red battles against a new Trainer to prevent him from becoming the new protagonist of the manga.

I know it's been a while since the last few chapters were translated. But I'm back with another chapter of Pokémon Pocket Monsters! I've even made a new schedule for myself that will allow me to translate manga more efficiently.

As stated in the chapter description, we finally get introduced to the protagonist character from the latest Pokémon games. The weird thing is that his name is Dia. Coincidentally, the male protagonist is also referred to as Dia in Pokémon Adventures.

Although, in Adventures, Dia is just a nickname that's short for Diamond. (Which I believe also goes for this manga)

Diamond feels like an interesting rival. He's a newbie when it comes to Pokémon. But he already has three Pokémon under his ownership and a decent amount of knowledge of Pokémon battles. I wish we could see more of him and have a possible dynamic between Red, him, and Kazuki, like what we've seen with Ginjiro and Kinnosuke in the GS series and Green, Blue, and Yellow in the original series. But that's either going to happen in a future volume, or it'll be something that Anakubo will skip out on to focus on other characters and story plots.

Whatever the case, this is another chapter I enjoyed reading!
