genuinely his liked songs playlist will give you whiplash. he really loves some oldies (a mix of pop, rock, and jazz), and then suddenly you catch a little of his 2000s rock and emo music (remember, he used to think the shadow knights looked and seemed cool), and then a little bit of alt/indie.

i feel like he’s the type of guy to happily listen to everyone else’s music, and he doesn’t really complain about it either. but if we’re talking about the main music he listens to on his own, he really likes alternative/indie-pop, and generally listens to upbeat, feel-good songs. he kinda discovered some of the more indie artists and songs when he overheard it playing from vylad’s room one day.

I have two people who unambiguously occupy this roll, and I didn’t want to get off the couch, so I flipped a virtual coin between them. J lived in the grouphouse where my friend was running a Monster Hearts game I was in. Depends how young, let’s say late high school?

“{College} is a fine place to be. You should keep studying science because that will help, but you won’t actually want to get a PhD in science, so try to work in a lab but don’t stress it too much. Start writing nonfiction sooner and be ambitious about it. You already know about this EA thing, get involved in that and start talking to people write away. Seek out PersonA, PersonB, and PersonC and befriend them. Avoid befriending PersonD and definitely do not move in with them. You can date PersonE. Abolish public schooling, replace it with state-sponsored programs based on some combination of Montessori/etc, unschooling, and apprenticeships, supplemented by plenty of online or in-person optional classes. Any structured component should be basically optional and take up a small fraction of the day and/or week. Designers should think “will this system cause people to have nightmares about it years down the line?” and then work from there.
