Rose Hsu Jordan

The book as a whole is about generational trauma among Chinese immigrants. Rose specifically struggles with indecisiveness and blames herself for her brother's death. this causes her husband to take advantage of her, but her mom helps her stand up for herself. I love her because she has struggled so much but in the end is able to take back her life

Seijyu

A doll given life by his owner and sent to protect said owners best friend. He has no memories and the only purpose in life he was given was doing that job, his story is about self discovery and learning what it means to be human and to love. She is trying so hard to be the main character by lying and manipulating her sister, her cavalier, her mentor, her ?love interests? (Spoiler???) And also god. Not sure how it's working out for her but she does love to lie and manipulate

Worstie Ianthe is the DEFINITION of gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss. She is one of a set of necromancer twins that are the heirs to their houses rule. Except wait, only she is a necromancer and she has spent their entire lives doing necromancy for the both of them. She is constantly mean to their cavalier, Naberius, who she occasionally nibbles on like a chew toy, before eventually killing and eating him to ascend to sainthood. She goes to gods spaceship with another woman who ascended to sainthood who she has a crush on, this other woman is like…. Both incredibly mentally unwell and also haunted by at least 211 ghosts. Ianthes method of flirting with her? Gaslighting her about the corpse that keeps moving around and hiding under her bed. For no real reason tbh. She is clearly plotting to overthrow god, and at the moment that consists of her manipulating him while he’s too sad about his long term partners betraying him and subsequently exploding to really care. She dresses in terrible outfits and makes soup by burning onions to the bottom of a pot, putting meat in and some vegetables and then it doesn’t taste like anything so she puts in a few teaspoons of salt so it tastes like a few teaspoons of salt. She had her crush amputate her arm and regrow her a new one out of bone and it’s one of the horniest things I’ve read in my life.

She uses a man as a chewtoy in the first book, literally gaslights the protagonist of the second book about a corpse, and elder-abuses God when he gets depressed in the third book. Nobody is doing it like her.

Dives headfirst with no regrets while basically laughing and covered in blood into murdering her cavalier once she realizes what the gothic locked room mystery/competition leads to while everyone else is questioning it, helps perform lobotomy on harrow so she doesn't remember the person she loves, manipulates everyone to get to the top

her relationship with her sister is incredibly Bad, she fosters codependency and views Corona(the sister) as an extension of herself. This does not stop her from keeping up the con that Corona actually has magic (She doesn't, it was always just Ianthe) for 22ish years and every single person who interacts with them falls for it. She killed a man against his will (most dying for this purpose specifically go willingly) and she consumed him and she will be burning his soul for eternity. She's completely repulsive and still somehow incredibly hot.

she takes advantage of the fact that the main character is prone to hallucinations. at one point she gaslights the mc into believing that the corpse under her bed isn't real just because she can. she reverse engineered a set of very complex trials on her own without anyone realizing she had the skills to complete them normally. she's also babysat god through his drunk and pathetic era.

Mihalis is a blood mage who became a business major so he wouldn’t have to beat people up, only to shatter his pacifist ideals when he hit finals. He’s the best in his chosen field, but he’s also bitter and vengeful, and more than a little sleep deprived. He runs on caffeine and the desire to crush his enemies. Mihalis is tall and dark, but missed handsome by a mile and has made up for it by sheer force of personality. However, his tendency to glower arrogantly at all and sundry is not so much down to his self-important disposition as much as the fact that he SHOULD be wearing glasses and refuses to. (Because having them hang around his neck on a beaded chain would tarnish his image and he loses them otherwise.) (He doesn’t actually wear a three piece suit in the story setting, but my sister is the artist, and he’s wearing a suit in the reference picture she used, so my world building explanation is that he is visiting someone from a culture where they DO wear three piece suits, and is not only disgusted by the very concept of a necktie, but also utterly horrified at how small their coffee cups are.)

B-Ptera Propaganda:

I try to match up viviosaurs to avoid heavily imbalanced matchups, but the alternative was B-Ptera against Salada, and I don’t know if Salada has enough popularity to make the matchup fair.

That being said, I LOVE both vivos for their designs, and the crescent moon on B-Ptera is absolutely mesmerizing. That design was MADE for that one cutscene, you know the one.

For y'all's review for the AU: A Prequel Outline - Divorce Saga Domon

Hey real quick - I'm thinking of maybe changing the timeline to 2 years post canon as opposed to 3 years and change post canon.

The reason being: I had a thought that this scene could either be part if the fic or if it's getting to big then it could be a stand alone tie-in prequel fic as part of this AU but - like

Immediately Post Divorce Domon Needs Space and runs off. As one does. And he runs to Earth because he just wants to Get Lost for a while.

He has Argo smuggle him out to avoid detection.

Argo has Andrew help stow Domon in a storage hanger of a Neo Canadian supply ship that's returning to the US - they have trade often enough and share agricultural resources - which leads to Domon ending up in New York when he hits Earthside pavement.

He's privately worked on his English the last couple of months and after being dropped in New York with a different hairstyle, outfit, and accent he's unrecognizable. 

He considers making his way west to get some solitude in the wilderness, but something about that initial plan feels off now that he's on the ground.

Chibodee is also Earthside for a special series of prize fights aimed at raising charitable appeal for the US in the eyes of Neo Americans.

Domon decides to hit up Chibodee for a fight on a day between matches hoping it'll clear his head and give him the clarity to decide on a course of action. What ends up happening is an unexpected heart to heart via blows and a breakdown.

Domon is happy for Rain and Kyoji, and he knows it's not true; but he feels like he lost a piece of himself when his relationship with Rain fell apart.

Domon's instinct is to run after that but Chibodee knows this city and Domon doesn't hide out for long before Chibodee drags him back to his place to stay and just "Chill out and breathe. You don't have to be anyone but yourself here. You can take as long as you need to find out what everything changing means for you." Friends and teammates stick together.

So Domon spends a few weeks with Chibodee sparring and hanging out in New York. Chibodee does a frankly awesome job at containing his feelings because he's focusing on Domons feelings and being a good friend first and foremost. Whatever he's feeling can wait until after Domon is done going though it.

There's a bit of a twinge in Domon's heart as he leaves that he can't really place.

After he returns to Neo Japan and gets settled back into life with his family, The Dreams start.

They're mainly set in New York. Small things first like noticing Chibodee's smile and his eyes. Then sparring sessions that begin to turn lurid.

He thought these kinds of dreams would stop after he was married.... he doesn't know what to do about this.

I just figure it gives more clarity and sense of time for the journey from Comphet Marriage Dissolution to Feelings to Confession. Idk.

But I got stuck on a bit and then had this thought and needed to get it down before I lost it and it was so long it made sense to make it its own post as opposed to several replies.

The Maize and Clown Motel will probably still be 3 years and change post canon for clarification.

She's the kick-ass mother of Count Lucio and only shows up... Once? Maybe twice in the whole game?

Shadow Joker

I have a lot of Feelings about this guy, I'mma be real with y'all. How he's treated in canon varies slightly between the first first two seasons versus the latter two. He doesn't actually make very many appearances, all things considered, in spite of being a very important character for the first two seasons/his main arc. He was treated mostly seriously, too, barring a couple of jokes at his expense/visual gags (because a primarily comedic series for children isn't going to be 100% serious 100% of the time, naturally). In the latter half of the series he becomes something more akin to comic relief, which I have mixed feelings about bc I feel like it's a disservice to his character... but also him just always having been Like That without any real reason or provocation other than he thinks it makes him look cool is VERY funny to me. It serves to remind that these characters are still very much minor-coded, and helps him read a little more as a slightly idiotic teenager... which makes what happened to him in his origins significantly more horrific, honestly. I can't say too much about his character without spoiling a lot of his initial arc, assuming I haven't spoiled too much ALREADY. I WILL say that he's almost unlikable at first, though, what with his being 100% down for murder, even if that person had nothing to do with his goals other than getting in the way of them. He is Very Edgy and Angsty (though not without reason for the latter one) and also he's dressed primarily in Purple, aka The Best Color, Period.

#J4: Kids conquering dungeons to change the world

A Magi is a magician whose inclination toward magic is so immense that they can be said to shape the world. Imagine characters from Arabian Nights/1001 Nights coming to life in an anime. Even though it is loosely inspired off of the tales, it is a unique time and place from most anime settings. It has action, humor, and deep concepts. One of my favorite parts about Magi is how well-developed the background characters are.

Propaganda 2:

This anime has a lot of philosophical takes on what fate is. Basically, is everything that happened to you caused by a force you can’t control or is it what you make of it? Is there something or rather someone pulling the strings on what should or shouldn’t be? Is the person you are because you were lucky or unlucky to be born in the wealthy family or not? Why are things the way they are? Why was I dealt with a shitty hand in life? Is it because I’ll never amount to anything, or is something doing this to me? Why are we here just to suffer kind of deal, but you know not the meme version, the really sad and real version. Then you have the side of the people who may have not had the best life, but found a way out of it. Why do some people get to feel the light when you went through the same thing, but still lost and in the dark?

Trigger Warnings: Partial nudity and slavery. One of the mains is a slave in the beginning, but the other two mains help free her from that.

If you like Madoka Magica, you’ll 100% like this series. It’s hard to explain without spoilers, but it has a huge plot twist in the first episode. The anime is a short one with only 12 episodes, but it has an amazing manga as well! It mixes a cute slice of life high school anime with a darker plot, and it’s handled so well. It doesn’t seem like it’s just dark for the sake of being edgy like some other similar series. It covers topics like mental health and grief well, and it has as happy of an ending as possible for a series like this. The plot twists were executed so well, and I was sobbing by the end of the series.

Ruoye - Xie Lian’s spiritual device (TGCF)

Ruoye is technically a demonic weapon or whatever as it doesn't need spiritual power to control, but that also might just be because it's sentient and has a will of it's own but is deeply loyal to Xie Lian obviously. Ruoye can extend REALLY far!!! And he can form protection barriers, and decapitate zombies, and chop vegetables. There's nothing this good bandage baby can't do!! Peak performance! AND it'll pretend to do a snake dance while Xie Lian plays an instrument while busking!! Isn't that adorable! Xie Lian wears it on his wrists usually, and sometimes Ruoye will like tighten or rub his wrists to express fear or comfort Xie Lian and its so cute. Ruoye is so good. Personally I think despite Ruoyes background being like. Horribly tragic, thats what makes it so Good. All that pain and suffering made this thing that ended up protecting Xie Lian all these 800 years. But I left it last in case it's too much.  (tw suicide mention) Ruoye was created after being soaked in Xie Lian's blood when it was used to tie him up while various people stabbed him with a sword a hundred times. Then when he was able to return home, it was used by his parents to kill themselves for a variety of reasons we won't get into. Then, upon finding them, he tried to kill himself too. But his cursed shackles prevented his mortal body from dying, so when he died he just came back; he came back to a silk bandage that after taking the life of 2 royals, and being soaked in the blood of a royal and former god and stuff, it came to life!! With resentment technically. But he's a good boy.

E-ming - Hua Cheng’s cursed scimitar (TGCF)

E-ming is the best boy. Hua Cheng forged his saber when he was defending humans who got caught in the middle of a big ghost battle for dominance, essentially. He dug out his cursed red eye and created E-ming from it. So his eye is on the pommel of the sword, right in the center above the handle, and it emotes!! When its happy, the eye curves into a crescent and it vibrates!!! It cries when Hua Cheng is mean to it in a fucked up sense of self loathing since his sword is born from him!! E-ming grows bigger when Xie Lian(Hua Cheng's god and eventual husband) kisses the blade, because silly erection joke! But also it begs Xie Lian for praise and attention because its BEST. BOY. Oh and I guess also the entirety of the heavens fears the cursed blade E-ming, which has the power to reopen any wounds its made an on an individual before. Just the thought of E-ming makes gods shake in their boots. But more importantly, he's best boy.

Dennis Reynolds

He is the MOST gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss. He literally came up with the Dennis System, lies about his identity to get sex, money, attention, etc (see Frank's Back in Business), he catfishes his roommate and has phone sex with him to really drive home the grift, he acts stereotypically gay to get more tips when the Gang runs a gay bar for an ep. He is also generally insane and absolutely slay. I think any character from IASIP deserves a top spot, but Dennis truly takes the cake for being a gaslighting, gatekeeping, girlboss because he is COMICALLY evil.

Kayne

When Arthur asks what his name is he goes "what a good question! Hmmm... Let's go with Kayne :)". He's weird on purpose. He's probably manipulating them bc he thinks it's funny (he directly asks Arthur who he thinks will end up with control of Arthur's body between him and John). He lured Arthur to where he was (in a ruined city surrounded by gore bc he got bored) by playing the song Arthur had composed for his daughter on the piano. He's using Arthur and John for entertainment. He's never seen this before, thought it couldn't happen even, and wants to see what happens. He's vague on purpose. He repeatedly doesn't answer Arthur's questions. He won't help them but he'll put a wager on them and give Arthur a knife with the advice to use it when the time is right. He wants to watch a good show and by god he's going to. The only description we have of him is wearing a black suit, barefoot, and covered in blood. He's dramatic and has flair. He directly implies himself to be more powerful than the big bad, but he's not going to do anything about said big bad. He watches John desperately trying to stop Arthur from bleeding out by trying to stitch him shut with fishing line and fishhooks bc it's all they have, and Kayne insults his technique while watching and eating gardettos.
