Pain . . .

(i wasn't lying i had to make a drabble. vic gets shot in this one and im bad at describing pain. dividers by @/cafekitsune !)

Vic had never felt a pain as overwhelming as this.

He's felt pain before, obviously. When he was younger, he almost broke his leg during his first mission. He's been shot at before, stabbed a couple of times, definitely broke his arm once.

But nothing could really compare to this.

He had been ambushed on his mission, overwhelmed by the sheer number of guards that came after him. He definitely should have listened to Felix and at least brought back up, but he was too stubborn to do so. Too afraid to endanger anyone else.

And now here he was, bleeding out of his chest. The guards were incompetent, sure, but he was pretty sure they had punctured a lung, or at least the area around one.

It was excruciating. His vision faded in and out, his breaths coming out in shallow pants, a sweat building on his forehead as he stumbled his way back to the base.

He had to get back, he had to make it back home. He promised Cindy that he'd be there when she played her new piece. Promised Token that he'd let them try one of his cigarettes (but he obviously wasn't going to). Promised Trix that he'd return safely, even when they both knew that was never a certainty.

He struggled, clutching his chest as he stumbled about like he was drunk. He wished he was drunk. Maybe it could make him forget about the pain.

He collapsed when he was a couple blocks away from base. He knew that someone would find him eventually while on patrol. He just hoped it'd be soon.

He leaned against a building, attempting to catch his breath while the pain refused to cease. He gasped, and not for the first time, his life flashed before his eyes.

He could see the entire resistance, laughing and joking even when they were supposed to be taking their planning seriously. He could see his old groups, the kind adults that shared their bread with a stowaway like him. He could see Trix, clinging onto him after a particularly rough beating by their Guardian.

...He could see Theo and Pale, sitting with him in the grass, listening to his ramblings.

He didn't even realize it, but he was mumbling to himself. It was mostly nonsense, he was far too delirious to even think. But, as he was starting to black out, as he could see someone's faint figure, as he could hear his name being called, he could only mumble two old nicknames to himself.

"...Signs...Glasses..."

(signs and glasses are his nicknames for theo and pale <3)

chat.. evil idea.. but imagine an au (i don't think my poor heart could take it if it was canon/lh) where vic gets caught by AREPH.. he gets outnumbered on a mission since you know his reckless ass went by himself and gets taken.. they try to torture him for answers on the resistance but he's not breaking.. he refuses to tell them anything that could hurt his family.. trix is inconsolable when she hears the news.. am i cooking or what

this is trix! if you can't tell by her scars, she wasn't really raised in the most.. favorable of environments. she used to be a lot more aggressive and outspoken, but is now very isolated and silent. ever since everything that happened with her ex, she's very spiteful.

she gave up a lot of herself in her old relationship, and now doesn't really know who she is. she feels fucked up in the worst ways possible. will she always have a hole in her chest? she hopes not.

also, i dont want ankoku to ever escape or anything but do you think vic would ever hear about him from someone (he wouldve been The Watcher for 3 years now so if other people couldve met him)? if so, what are his thoughts on him?

honestly, to vic, cindy was at first just another straggler that he had to take off the streets before something bad happened to her. he didn't have much of an opinion, used to keeping his distance in case the person he brought in left the group. however, there's always a feeling in the back of his head that those who are hurt by Alien Stage deserve to be protected (because trix wasn't) so he wants her to thrive

they obviously become closer over time, and after trix joins the resistance, not much changes. he feels like he needs to protect them both, that he needs to make sure that both stay safe for his own sanity. he does view cindy as another little sister, and is honestly really relieved that the two were already close and get along. he'd probably be really stressed out if he had to choose between one or the other, at least he doesn't have to!

i'm not entirely sure vic would hear about ankoku unless it was from trix, and since trix's view on him is a little warped, his view would also be warped, thinking its weird that there's someone who has to watch over the contestants. he does feel there is an injustice to making a human work like that for aliens though, and would probably want to free him like he wants to free everyone hurt by Alien Stage.
