Happy Birthday Kiana !

Kiana's birthday was never something she really enjoyed celebrating or even thinking about. Ever since she lost the baby...Birthdays had no meaning to her. She would always follow the tides of time, letting the years brush over her without a single care.

They had no reason, no privilege to think about their age. When their baby was not given the chance of life, they had died along with her.

Her visits to her...husband had grown more frequent since her rejection from the show. She was too boring, too blank, according to her teachers. She would never make it far in that death show. Not that she really cared.

Well...There was someone that they did care about. Someone that they kept their eyes on the screen for. Someone that stirred up a warmth inside them that hadn't been present since Lea.

Even when her husband took her, used her like he always did, her thoughts drifted to her. Her light in the abyss.

Syona.

They remembered her loving gaze, her warm hands that held them close even when they refused to speak. She would always let them do their own thing, let them simply exist. She was happy with them. Nobody was ever happy with them.

Kiana felt a rare tightness in her chest, unfamiliar pricking at her eyes. Was she...crying?

Their husband seemed to take it as a good sign, and kept going. But they could barely focus on what was happening below, mind stuck on Syona.

And when her husband retired for the night, leaving her alone in her room, she curled up and let herself cry, clutching at her chest. Even Lea's comforting presence couldn't stop the pain in her chest. She wanted it all to stop, wanted her warmth back.

And for once, they wished they could have celebrated their birthday properly. With the cake and funny hat that all of their classmates had. With the one person who understood them more than anybody else.

"Syona.." She croaked her lover's name over and over again, a hopeless prayer in the night.

Kiana was raised in a shelter for the majority of her life, unwanted for her blank disposition and unwillingness to talk or speak for long. She's naturally a very quiet person, which dissuades most aliens from wanting to adopt her. However, her Guardian adopted her to be a "wife" for his son. She's treated like a doll by the alien, who clearly doesn't know how to handle a human. Her Guardian sees potential in her after hearing her sing in private, and starts to try and train her to be good enough to be considered for ANAKT Garden, and is elated when she's accepted.

These plans get briefly off track after the son gets her pregnant during one of her routine visits back home, and when her Guardian finds out, he's furious. He forces her to get the baby removed, and it is the most shaken that she's ever been. Her "husband" feels bad for her after the experience, and gets her a puppet that she grows an incredibly unhealthy attachment to. She starts to see it as her baby, naming it "Lea" and bringing it with her everywhere. She even starts to communicate through the puppet, creating a sort of alter ego with it.

Her visits to her Guardian and her "husband" become less and less over time, due to the fact that her Guardian doesn't want a repeat of her pregnancy. She starts to grow obsessed with the concept of "warmth" after she loses the baby, wanting to find something, anything that could make her feel warm like she was sure the baby would. Warmth was something that felt like a distant dream, but she knew it was possible when she sees how happy other people are around her in the Garden. She doesn't find it in any activities besides playing with her puppet, and one day decides to try and open up to someone, just to see if it could get her to truly feel warm.

Syona had been pursuing Kiana ever since they first met, however the latter had always shrugged off her advances, not wanting to get too close to anyone. However, Kiana finally decides to let Syona in, and the two quickly grow close after that. Kiana finds that she has a sense of warmth whenever she's with Syona, and quickly begins to cling to her in the same way that she clings to "Lea." While she still relies on her puppet to communicate with others, she talks to Syona with an ease she never imagined was possible. She's not the most outerly affectionate, but she shows her affection through subtle actions, like sharing her story with her lover and constantly being close to her whenever she can be.

quick thing since im trying to write kiana's lore rn !! in my head i have it that kiana was really distant at first and syona was pursuing her, but eventually kiana tries to find warmth in her and that's how they got together :3 is that ok or do u have any other ideas mayhaps??
