Back to being annoyed at Spotify so I guess this blog will serve as a monument to the short time I tolerated it.
Pandora links don't work.
I will always miss Grooveshark.

i do feel a bit left out every year people are sharing shit from spotify wrapped but i think that's probably better than the actual experience of using spotify so whatever
#i did use it a looooong time ago when it was brand new but it didnt have all the music i wanted so i quit#moved on to grooveshark which DID have a ton of stuff spotify didnt#then later they got shut down for copyright crimes or something stupid like that#like literally who cares if they didnt have ''permission'' to have all those songs. i think it's fine :)

i keep seeing this on my dash and like im sure its probably cool and all but both of those tweets feel like they were made specifically to fight back against all of those posts going around saying things like "if genocide joe is using our tax dollars to fund israels massacre of Palestine then 2024 will be the year of no americans paying taxes!"
like its worded in a way to give the vibe of "look how hard your president joe biden fought on your behalf against the evil awful turbo tax (who was trying to take your money for selfish gain!!) to give you the FREEDOM of paying your taxes in a CONVENIENT way like GOOD AMERICANS!!! now make sure you all PAY YOUR TAXES THIS YEAR SPECIFICALLY so the irs knows yall like convenience and we dont accidentally take this cool tool away from you ^^"
like maybe im paranoid here and you for sure should be taking what im saying with a large grain of salt but this post from JohnGreenburg27 (former business major, has former work experience in human capital, management information systems, and marketing, seems to spend all his time sucking joe biden off on twitter for how hes been handling the israel palestine conflict, etc) and secretary of the treasury janet yellen (self explanatory) doesnt sit super well with me for some reason.

#johngreenburg27 the techbro sportsnews guy you will never be john greenburg founder of grooveshark#who was found dead in his home at 28 due to mysterious causes that were never specified by police other than not being suicide or foul play#also tumblr user greatpoetryfun none of this was a dig at you#i know nothing about you but i too enjoy snail mail and magic

Since I might have better luck here given that Parx fans aren't as active over on Bluesky (and I ain't going back to Twitter), I wanna restart a search for a potential lost Waterparks song. On the old MP3 streaming site, Grooveshark, there was a title that caught my eye, "Always Go To Bed Angry". I haven't seen this title anywhere else - no mention of it on Instagram live streams, YouTube comment sections, tour QNAs, Twitter replies, nothing. The picture below isn't mine, but from Reddit user u/luvarose on the Parx subreddit. This is now the only remaining proof that this title was in circulation, as the original Grooveshark shut down years ago and any attempts on the Wayback Machine were fruitless.

Some things to keep in mind to help out with this potential search: - All the songs that were listed on this page were roughly from before Cluster era, meaning everything here is from 2011-2015. Also, none of the songs were in a playable state by the time I found this site on my own years and years ago. Not even the released ones. So I couldn't just press play to see what it was. - Other listings that were once considered lost also appeared, like the acoustic version of I Was Hiding, the Starry Eyed cover, and I believe the Fantastic remix, though I could be mistaken on that last one, so it's not that hard to believe that the listing for this mysterious song is a false one. - My two working theories (if this song isn't actually real) are that this song could be the one from the JF Sessions video and The End Of The World video (aka "Never Buried"), and was given an alternate title based on lyrics. OR, because the timeline fits, it's a falsely provided title for Mad All The Time. - There's also a mysterious "Song #2 Demo" listed here too, which is the only other unknown title on the page, but unlike the song this post is made for, this one doesn't even have a title, so I wouldn't even know what I'd be looking for. It's incredibly unlikely that people would just post fake songs like this for a band that was still relatively unknown outside of their hometown at the time, so I'm in the firm belief these are real songs. I keep a document tracking all alternate versions and demos of Waterparks material, including unreleased songs too. And this one has been in my "Existence/Era Unconfirmed" section since I started the document. Simply searching the title up along with the band's name or anything similar just leads back to the Reddit post, which has had no comments in the many years its been up. If ANYONE has any idea or information about the song, PLEASE send it my way here on Tumblr or through the archive's email @ [email protected]. Thank you.

💫 Join the Fediverse! 💫
Greetings, fellow bloggers! We welcome you to join us in discovering, honoring, and promoting the potential future of social networking—commonly referred to as the "Fediverse."
The Fediverse, or Federation Universe, refers to a collective of online platforms that utilize the web protocol known as ActivityPub, which has set a standard of excellence in regards to both protecting and respecting users' online privacies.
There's a good chance in the past few years that you've caught wind of the fedi family's critically acclaimed Mastodon; however, there are many other unique platforms worth your consideration...
✨ Where To Begin?
Conveniently enough, from the minds of brilliant independent developers, there already likely exists a Fediverse equivalent to your favorite socials. Whether it's an opinion from the critics, or from the community alike—the following popular websites are commonly associated with one another:
Friendica 🐰 = Facebook Mastodon 🐘 = Twitter Pixelfed 🐼 = Instagram PeerTube 🐙 = YouTube Lemmy 🐭 = Reddit
It's worth mentioning, too, a few other sites and forks thereof that are worthy counterparts, which be: Pleroma 🦊 & Misskey 🐱, microblogs also similar to Twitter/Mastodon. Funkwhale 🐋 is a self-hosting audio streamer, which pays homage to the once-popular GrooveShark. For power users, Hubzilla 🐨 makes a great choice (alongside Friendica) when choosing macroblogging alternatives.
✨ To Be Clear...
To address the technicalities: aside from the "definitive" Fediverse clients, we will also be incorporating any platforms that utilize ActivityPub-adjacent protocols as well. These include, but are not limited to: diaspora*; AT Protocol (Bluesky 🦋); Nostr; OStatus; Matrix; Zot; etc. We will NOT be incorporating any decentralized sites that are either questionably or proven to be unethical. (AKA: Gab has been exiled.)
✨ Why Your Privacy Matters
You may ask yourself, as we once did, "Why does protecting my online privacy truly matter?" While it may seem innocent enough on the surface, would it change your mind that it's been officially shared by former corporate media employees that data is more valuable than money to these companies? Outside of the ethical concerns surrounding these concepts, there are many other reasons why protecting your data is critical, be it: security breaches which jeopardize your financial info and risk identity theft; continuing to feed algorithms which use psychological manipulation in attempts to sell you products; the risk of spyware hacking your webcams and microphones when you least expect it; amongst countless other possibilities that can and do happen to individuals on a constant basis. We wish it could all just be written off as a conspiracy... but, with a little research, you'll swiftly realize the validity of these claims are not to be ignored any longer. The solution? Taking the decentralized route.
✨ Our Mission For This Blog
Our mission for establishing this blog includes 3 core elements:
To serve as a hub which anybody can access in order to assist themselves in either: becoming a part of the Fediverse, gaining the resources/knowledge to convince others to do the very same, and providing updates on anything Fedi-related.
We are determined to do anything within our power to prevent what the future of the Internet could become if active social users continue tossing away their data, all while technologies are advancing at faster rates with each passing year. Basically we'd prefer not to live in a cyber-Dystopia at all costs.
Tumblr (Automattic) has expressed interest in switching their servers over to ActivityPub after Musk's acquisition of then-Twitter, and are officially in the transitional process of making this happen for all of us. We're hoping our collective efforts may at some point be recognized by @staff, which in turn will encourage their efforts and stand by their decision.
With that being stated, we hope you decide to follow us here, and decide to make the shift—as it is merely the beginning. We encourage you to send us any questions you may have, any personal suggestions, or corrections on any misinformation you may come across.
From the Tender Hearts of, ✨💞 @disease & @faggotfungus 💞✨

Como sempre, teño que facer un pouquichiño de trampiña anotando o que vou escoitando porque non teño unha librería de Spoty nin similar (acho de menos grooveshark)
Tagging @jar-jar-ate @queixumes e @pialfa801 :)

I'm going down a rabbit hole of revisiting some of my favorite indie tracks from ~2013, and fuck I wish I had a time machine. it was so hard to find indie music back then, but I feel like it's so much harder to refind many of those indie tracks now, especially since I barely remember some of the lyrics.
if only I could recover my old grooveshark playlists.
