The Crows and Their Heights

These headcanons are based on the innerworld appearances of our alters. Feel free to adopt them as your own headcanons if you so wish.

Kaz is 5’11. He will say that he is six feet tall. He is lying.

Jesper is 6’2. Those three inches that he has above Kaz are very important to him.

Inej is 5’1. The top shelf is her enemy.

Nina is 5’10. She will wear tall shoes to make herself taller than Kaz, and proceed to tell people that she’s only 5’10 when standing next to him, thus discrediting his 6’0 lie.

Matthias is 6’4. Despite this fact and the fact that he is made of pure muscle, he is less intimidating than Inej.

Wylan is 5’5. He stands on his tip toes to kiss Jesper, and is often jokingly used as a headrest despite not being that short.

Jordie is 6’6 (in AUs where he lives), making him the tallest Crow and forever driver/passenger princess because his legs are too long to comfortably sit in the backseat.

Shitty Six of Crows Headcanon

We all know that Kaz is abysmally terrible with flirting.

However, I think that once he and Inej get comfortable enough, he uses nicknames for her her.

“Nezza” is a Kerch-based diminutive of her name that he uses a lot.

He also calls her “beloved” and “darling,” sometimes even “angel” if he’s feeling especially sappy.

I swear to god, I’m so tired of our system gaining Grishaverse fictives. I don’t know how many we have, but I know so far we’ve gotten two in the last three weeks, just because we’re hyperfixated on it. so far, they are: Alina Starkov from the books, Jesper Fahey from the show, Genya Safin from the books, and Wylan Van Eck from the show (who’s apparently transgender for god knows what reason). I’m so tired of this crap.

Happy Birthday, My Loves

The other day I looked at Simply Plural (the app we use to keep track of system information), and I realized that I had not only missed my own birthday (the date I split in the system), but I had missed the birthdays of both Jesper and Inej as well. Today, April 8th, is the second year anniversary of Wylan joining our system. I figured I would celebrate all of four of our birthdays on the same day.

Jesper and I arrived in the system together. We are what our system refers to as “split mates”, alters that split at the same time, usually for the same reason. Split mates are like soulmates, they have much stronger communication with each other than they do with the rest of the system. Jesper is my other half. She completes me. I have felt his absence so heavily in the past few months. She was my caretaker, but more than that she was my best friend and the love of my life. Everyday, I patiently await her return so that we might be complete again. Happy Birthday, Jes.

Inej arrived a little after me and Jes. She was our grounding force. We couldn’t always see her, but we always knew she was there. We could trust that she was there. Her presence was calming, and she helped us get through some of our most stressful moments. She was our advocate in stressful or contentious situations. She was the first of our little group of four to leave. I understand why she did. But much like my source, I did not cling to her. I let her go. Do I regret it? Sometimes. But it would not have been fair of me to keep her here. I hope that someday she comes back to visit. I want to tell her that I’m sorry. Happy Birthday, Inej.

Wylan was the last of the Core Four (our former group of co-hosts) to split. He was the brightest of all of us, keeping our spirits up in dark times. He embraced his albeit sarcastic nickname “Wylan Van Sunshine”. He really was like the sun. He was our peacekeeper. If we had a problem, he would find out a way to fix it. This included when people were treating us badly. Our partner has been scolded by Wylan exactly once and they said they never wanted to experience that again. We could always trust him to keep us safe, even if his idea were so outlandish we hardly knew if they were going to work. (Somehow they always did.) I miss his light and his warmth every day. I hope he returns home soon. Happy Birthday, Wylan.

Our partner is taking me out for dessert to celebrate. He misses them dearly too. But we both trust that someday they will be back. Until then, we’ll just keep waiting and building the life we want. Brick by brick.

More fic rambles.

“Soulbound” and “They Called Him Cassandra” are probably my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on. I love them, because me and my family (systemmates) write them together. I started the first Soulbound fic, “I’d Give My Lungs So You Could Breathe” with Jes during chemistry class because we were bored. The series has grown into so much more, and it’s literally our healing story. The next Soulbound fic will come out when all of my Crows are back together again, because that is what that fic is about. Whether they come back tomorrow or a year from now. Because Soulbound is our project and I couldn’t write it without them. The struggles in those fics are our struggles. The joys in those fics are and will be our joys.

They Called Him Cassandra is centered around family. There’s a heavy focus on me (Kaz) and Jordie, because a majority of that fic is written by, guess who? Me and Jordie. The point of that fic is to fix what was broken in canon, and heal some of our own traumas. Jordie wasn’t there to protect me, here or in source, and so this is our way of righting those wrongs. These stories are so personal, and they’re so important to me and the rest of the system. I’m thankful for all of the support that we’ve gotten from all of you. For every comment that allows me to go back and reread those fics and see my Crows there when they’ve been gone for months.
