The author and illustrator Dina Norlund, an artist I’ve been following for years, passed away from cancer a few weeks ago. She really inspired me with my art, and watching her videos on YouTube made me want to be an illustrator. I wanted to draw her with some of her book characters.

Howard Pyle was so creative that he made up his own book of folkloristic fairy tales. Pyle's absorbing tales have for generations enjoyed such overwhelming popularity with boys and girls that they have earned an unique distinction. This collection includes some of his most entertaining and imaginative works—24 delightful fairy tales, one for each hour of the day. When the Wonder Clock strikes one, a story unfolds that reveals how a youth raised by bears grew up to be the strongest man in the land. The two o-clock adventure tells of the faithful servant's search for a cup of the Water of Life. Other tales deal with giants and ogres, kings and princesses, wicked stepmothers, three-eyed witches and three-headed dragons, talking animals and talking trees. Accompanying this collection are some of his most unforgettable illustrations, drawings which capture all of the magical splendor of Wonderland and its inhabitants. Each story is preceded by a delightful verse by Katharine Pyle that indicates the hour of the day and sets the stage for the tale which is to follow. 148 illustrations.

Fuckit, palisman for Camila.

- Lupa is a wolf palisman who used to be one of the Bat Queen’s wards. She’s actually three palismen in one, animating along with her pups Greyleg, Varg, and Wolfiam. The pups can move and act independently, but they’re all the same palisman and can’t be too far apart or use magic without their mother.

- Lupa bonds with Camila when Camila briefly gets sepparated from the hexsquad and runs into her in the woods. Lupa senses that Camila is a mother who wants to protect and help her daughter, and bonds with her based on that.

- It takes a while to figure out, but once Camila learns how her palisman works, she can heal and make shields using Lupa’s staff. Lupa’s markings glow when she’s using magic.

Lupa is latin for she-wolf and is the wolf who raised Romulus and Remus. Greyleg (Gråbein) and Varg are both old Norwegian words for wolf, and Wolfiam is a pun in the same style as Owlbert.
