Fanart dragon age ( romance DA)
Two illustrations that I had made in 2023 during the February Kiss Challenge of 2023.
The woman is my Grey Warden Elayne Amell.
During DAO, she has a romance with Alistair, but since he can't marry her, they pursue their romance in secret (Alistair is married to Anora).
But between each other's obligations, Elayne will be more and more attracted to Nathaniel, and their story will be quite complicated. Elayne having killed his father (DAO/ DAO-A).
I never had the courage to write this whole story (I had a big writer's block), but there are still a few drawings like these to illustrate it.
I hope we will finally have news of the old grey wardens. Especially since it would be 20 years since DAO. So will corruption get the better of them? ><

Struggling with Rook concepts. I think part of me was holding out hope for an Ambassadoria-adjacent background for dwarves, and something more directly associated with Par Vollen/Seheron for qunari since our last qunari protag was Vashoth and raised in the Free Marches. Normally I find it easy to brainstorm Dragon Age OCs but lately.... blerp.

Me, when Sebastian joins my party for the first time: Okay, this time I'm not going to forget about you, Sebastian. I'm going to make an effort to use you a lot this playthrough so I can better understand you.
Also me, immediately forgetting about Sebastian while finishing Act 2 and making it halfway through Act 3 before I finally notice his Faith quest: ......................Oh. Right. My bad.

Dragon Age: Veilguard | The Ultimate Preview Summary
shinobi602 on twitter shared this amazing in-depth summary of all new information about the game that we have so far:
Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X and PC in Fall 2024
Consoles: Quality and Performance modes (60FPS)
Photo mode is confirmed
Fully offline single player, no EA account linking, no micro-transactions'
Play as a human, elf, dwarf, or Qunari
Choose your backstory, 6 factions to choose from when you create your character, all with "deep roots in Thedas": Antivan Crows, Grey Wardens, Shadow Dragons, Veil Jumpers, Lords of Fortune, The Mourne Watch
Each faction offers 3 distinct buffs each, like being able to hold an extra potion or do extra damage against certain enemies, and the odd reference in dialogue
You can customize your Inquisitor from Dragon Age: Inquisition in the character creator and "make a few key decisions that will impact how The Veilguard begins"
There are some "killer cameos" from past games that show up
Warrior Class: Use a sword and shield or two handed weapon to send enemies flying
Rogue Class: Utilizes quick movement and reflexes. You can wield a bow or dual swords with "powerful, precise strikes for lethal damage"
Mage Class: Use magic to incinerate, freeze, electrocute and crush. Some cast from afar, while others prefer close quarters combat
Each class also has 3 sub-specializations, such as duelist, saboteur, or veil ranger for the Rogue
Classes also have unique 'resource system's, for example, the Rogue has "momentum", which builds up as you land consecutive hits, and each will always have a ranged option
One Rogue momentum attack is a "hip fire" option we saw for the Rogue's bow, letting you pop off arrows from the waist
Another momentum attack for the Warrior lets you lob your shield at enemies
Quests are more handcrafted and mission based, curated with alternate paths, secrets to discover and optional content
There are also open ended explorable areas
Party size of 3 during combat, ala Mass Effect
Combat is focused on real-time action, dodge, parry, counter, "sophisticated animation canceling and branching", using risk-reward charge attacks designed to break enemy armor layers
Enemies have elemental weaknesses and resistances, and you can chain together elemental combos for extra damage
One example is a squadmate using a gravity well attack to suck enemies in, another slowing them down, and the player then unleashing a big AOE attack
You don't take direct control of companions like past Dragon Age games, but you can still pause and issues ability commands for you and your allies
There is a hub area for the player like Skyhold and the Normandy, called The Lighthouse
Companions can eventually start romancing other characters if you opt not to romance them
Each companion also has unique missions tied to them that play into the larger story
Nudity confirmed - romance scenes can get "a little spicy"
"Incredibly deep" character creator: 5 categories including: Lineage, Appearance, Class, Faction, Playstyle
Players can also choose different body sizes and shapes
Dozens of hairstyles to choose from, with "individual strands of hair rendered separately and reacting quite remarkably to in-game physics", pulled from EA Sports
Character creator lets you adjust the lighting so you can be sure your character looks good
The team wanted to balance the look of the game with both light and darkness. "When everything is dark, nothing really feels dark. For this one, we really wanted to build that contrast again."
Skill tree is "vast", you can also set up specific companions with certain kits, from tackling specific enemy types to being more of a supporting healer or flexible all-rounders
There are tarot cards you go through during the character creation process that will let you choose decisions from past games to implement into Veilguard
The team teases you may lose some characters during the story

I don't need to wait for Veilguard to drop to know you're going to be romancing the "mage killer" with a mage. Or, if the choice was there, the dragon hunter with a dragon, the grey warden with a darkspawn etc.
I CAN'T HAVE SHIT ON THIS WEBSITE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT:: I finished the piece!!! Here
Anders wip yippee!!! Anyways. If I had a nickel for everytime I drew a grey warden mage in basically this exact pose I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird I've done it twice.
I'm gonna thumbnail some backgrounds in my sketchbook later because I realized that like. Idk what to do with it <//3 the idea behind this was like. Vague kinda "anders romanced tarot art with a hawk symbolizing. Well Hawke" thing but I am NOT gonna replicated the tarot card style so. I may look at some for ref tho yayyy. Also why are birds so hard to draw.

Any guesses on the Veilguard companions?
some suggestions i think are worth placing bets on
an antivan crow (the concept art and short story presence PLUS what’s been said about each companion representing “iconic factions”, i think this is a dead certainty). natural choice for a rogue, but the concept of crow mages has been being set up in the novels for a while
again judging by concept art presence, a nevarran mortalitasi necromancer OR a nevarran possessed skeleton type as our friendly spirit companion
a grey warden, probably from the anderfels/weisshaupt itself. always has been one and there is no faction more iconic, right? i believe there’s ancient voice acting snippets suggesting it’s some guy called davrin
considering the collective way that concept art captions, absolution, and apparently three separate stories from tevinter nights were like “hey did you know the LORDS OF FORTUNE are a thing? the lords of fortune from RIVAIN”, one of these. my guess is that they thought about going felicisima armada for a rivaini companion but didn’t want to just rehash isabela’s pirate gimmick so they made something up and they’ve been trying to set it up really hard
i’ve seen people suggest scout harding is being pushed forward for the role and i guess the inquisition is an iconic faction now?
otherwise, couldn’t really say for a dwarven companion. iconic factions might include the legion of the dead, the carta... the tevinter ambassadoria is a bit more niche but would make sense for a northern companion. i could also see them simply making one of the other suggestions a dwarf, the grey warden is definitely a strong contender since it’s always been a human man and it’d be nice to mix it up
speculatively, i’d like to see a templar. you can’t deny it’s an iconic faction. either a southern templar trying to take up a new cause after everything crashed and burned or a vint templar with a completely new perspective to what we’re used to would be a lot of fun. i would actually love to play this character if it’s not a companion lmao
another obvious faction is the dalish. it’s been a while since we had one, we’ve never had a non-mage dalish companion so there’s a lot of room for a fresh approach, they’re so plot relevant right now. someone’s got to give us that good good exposition! and i am so sick of it not being the dalish themselves 😭
i would be very surprised if there’s no qunari or tal-vashoth. i don’t have many strong ideas, i would just expect it to be a rogue or a mage, since warriors are all we’ve had
all that obviously tallies up to more than seven so we have to pick and choose—and i’m sure there’s plenty of surprises i haven’t thought of—but those would be my instincts! i’ve been thinking about this for a while haha. i’d be excited for any of these, just please, please hand over the romanceable dwarf. i know you’ve got them bioware

OH GREY WARDEN, WE'RE REALLY IN IT NOW.
ID in alt text, notes and oc infodump under the cut! PLEASE ask me about them they're my new babygirl of the week
Yeah. Ben-Hassrath Cousland is wild, I know. This was one of those 3 am thoughts that became a beloved oc and now they're my canon protag. Basically: She was being trained to be House Cousland's left hand to spy within the noble courts and intercept threats to her family's rule, and a large part of that meant being covertly sent to Orlais to train as a bard. Buuuut the bardmaster she studied under was an undercover Hissrad, and she wound up being converted to the Qun by her. Teenage Laurentia was in a spot where, like every kid, she was questioning the Andrastian beliefs she was raised with and all the unfair things she noticed in her society, so she was very open to the Qun.
Her role once she was sent back home was basically just to send reports detailing the inner workings of the Ferelden nobility and to be aware of any Tal-Vashoth activity in the area. Pretty benign shit, and the former task is what she was doing for her family anyway. Still recruited by the Wardens the normal way, via Duncan doing his "come with me if you want to live" shtick after the fam dies. None of the Blight Crew find her out save for Leliana, because Leli knows everything. She only reveals it to Sten just as he's about to hop on a ship back home LMAOOO.
They're genuinely very compassionate and sweet. A lil whimsical. Highly loyal and protective. Very lawful good (emphasis on lawful). It's a weird sort of internal reconciling - they are genuinely kind to most people and love listening to others' issues and helping them out. It just so happens that this makes them an excellent spy, because they're exactly the sort of person people feel comfortable opening up to, and they see no issue with passing relevant information on to the powers they spy for. The kindness is genuine, but it's also a tool, if that makes sense. Their duty comes before any attachments. On that Master Coercion grindset.
No romance because they're aro, but they do have a little homoerotic espionage cat and mouse goin on with Leliana (singing campfire songs and trading stories and braiding each others' hair included). They get along with all their companions besides Morrigan and Oghren, and even Morrigan is more just.. cordial passive aggression.
They exist in the same worldstate as my Orlesian Warden-Commander Gavriel! He's a veteran warden who joins them on the road after Lothering because his ass snuck into Ferelden to help the Wardens solo, and then he'll later become the WC while they become Arlessa because they have more political experience and he has more military experience.
They generally make the nicey nice choices, albeit not where magic is concerned, and even then it's purely out of an abundance of caution. They do NOT annul the Circle, they do that secret third option where you tell Greagoir there could still be blood mages so he puts the mages into quarantine and Wynne still joins you but the game counts it as siding with the Templars. They let Isolde kill Connor, rip lil dude. (Not like they have a choice, they would rather that than the blood magic anyway, but they kill Jowan soooooo.) Besides that, all nicey choices. Bhelen on the throne, Anvil destroyed, Zathrian reconciles and everybody lives, Ashes are not tainted, Loghain recruited, Alistair and Anora rule jointly, Gavriel and Morrigan know they'd never agree to the Dark Ritual so they do it behind Laurentia's back and nobody dies lmao.
Small notes on their disabilities: Wynne was the healer that did their cleft lip surgeries as a kid!! Their last surgery was when they were 6, so they do remember her :D & their hearing aids are lyrium-infused lazurite, the runes are all enchantments that combine to make it collect and amplify sound like an actual HA does. I love bullshitting magic technology.
Their mabari is named Princess, because they got her when they were 10, okay.

I knew the life of a grey warden was short but last night I triggered the GW dialogue with Alistair and 😭😭 when you learn that a GW lives that short a life it hits so much harder when you’re a mage who grew up in the circle. you aren’t told much about the grey wardens only that it’s a hard life and you don’t find out precisely how hard that life is until you grill Alistair for more answers. you unwittingly traded one prison for another.
my warden Freya didn’t find this out until she was pretty far into her romance with Zevran, after learning what happened to his lover in the Crows. and even longer after Wynne hounded her about what it takes to be a GW. it really put in perspective just how short and precious life is and if my warden was going to live on borrowed time then by THE MAKER she was going to make the best of it until a cure is finally found.
I may be in Solavellan hell but truth be told all of my babies are in hell. 🙂 I love this series.
Now I wanna romance Davrin just to experience what it’s like to romance a Grey Warden from a different pov.

Cullen Conversation: Here Lies the Abyss
An Example
Cullen Masterpost
Related Quest: Here Lies the Abyss
Cullen: First the templars, now the Grey Wardens. Both devoted their lives to fighting evil. Now they serve it.
Dialogue options:
Mage: So, if I was possessed… [1]
Templar Spec: We don’t. [2]
General (allied templars): We have the templars. [3]
General: They’re not willing. [4]
General: Corypheus is cunning. [5]
General: They were desperate. [6]
1 - Mage: So, if I was possessed…
Cullen was told to continue lyrium
Cullen: You’re not—and there’s been no cause for concern.
PC: You’re avoiding the question.
Cullen: What answer would you have me give? That I would ignore a threat to our people’s safety or that I would deal with it?
Scene ends.
PC is romancing Cullen
Cullen: Please, don’t ask me this.
PC: I think I know the answer.
Cullen: I don’t think you do. It’s not that simple, and I… I would rather not think of it.
Scene ends.
Cullen quit lyrium/has not decided on lyrium.
Cullen: I would rather not consider it.
Scene ends.
2 - Templar: We don’t.
PC: I’m a templar. I don’t serve Corypheus. Neither do you.
Cullen (continued lyrium and was told “you chose this life”): You’re right.
Cullen (did not continue lyrium/did not discuss lyrium): A former templar and one who never joined the Order? I suppose that’s something. [7]
3 - General: We have the templars.
PC: We brought most of the templars over.
Cullen: Thank the Maker for that. Even if we were too late for some. [7]
4 - General: They’re not willing.
PC: Not by choice. They were manipulated by Corypheus.
Cullen: I’m not sure that’s a comfort. [7]
5 - General: Corypheus is cunning.
PC: What better way to demoralize the people of Thedas than to corrupt their heroes? If Corypheus appears with the templars and Wardens at his side, why shouldn’t they follow too?
Cullen: (Sighs.) Because now is not the time to lose hope. [7]
6 - General: They were desperate.
PC: They were so desperate to destroy their supposed enemies, they did not see the one standing before them.
Cullen: A mistake I’ve made before and do not wish to repeat. [7]
7 - Scene continues.
Cullen: The Inquisition must serve as an example. We must stand where others fall.

I may be laying on the floor staring into the void, merely vibrating as my brain rots about Veilguard, Rook, the companions, and Solas.
...this is the perfect excuse to replay my canon route.
Apologies in advance: I'm about to make my brainrot replay a problem for everyone and everything in my vicinity.

people always talk about their types throughout the DA games and how telling it is of them. always choosing the mages or the elves, things like that.
I chose Alistair after his joke about wearing a dress. I was locked in. I was also playing a F!Amell and very upset when I realized I couldn't pursue Morrigan, but otherwise locked in.
I chose Fenris after multiple rejections and, tbh, I really liked his voice and I already have a thing for guys with white hair. There's a post about it somewhere deep in my feed. So yeah. Locked. In.
Haven't played DAI yet but I know I'm def going for Cullen and Solas (in that order). I reblog a lot of Solas content, and that's entirely because of dreadwolf lore and my love for tragic romances, but Cullen has been marked as my target since I reviewed the romancable characters list (I like to know my options, sue me). Cullen > Solas, sorry not sorry.
I reviewed the most recent companions for DATV and DAVRIN?? might just start barking and have hearts jump out of my eyes.
Anyways, after reviewing my list of love interests (potential and committed) throughout the games, I realized what my type was.
Warriors.
Alistair, Fenris, Cullen, Davrin. All warrior classes.
and what's my preferred class to play without fail? mage.
I'm apparently really into the Mage x Warrior trope, specifically when paired with someone you wouldn't expect to fall for a mage. Alistair is an ex-templar. Fenris is anti-mage due to his experience living in Tevintar. Cullen is a templar and went through a pretty hardcore anti-mage phase. However, Davrin, the charming grey warden and monster hunter? Yeeeeeeeeah, I'm very excited to learn more about his character.
