Resenha #259:  Simplesmente o Paraíso

SINOPSE

Honoria Smythe-Smith é parte do famoso quarteto musical Smythe-Smith, embora não se engane e saiba que o dito quarteto carece sequer do menor sentido musical e tem esperanças postas que esta seja a última vez que se submeta a semelhante humilhação. Esta será sua temporada e com um pouco de sorte conseguirá um marido.

Durante um jantar, põe seus olhos em Gregory Bridgerton, um dos mais jovens da família Bridgerton. Sabe que não está apaixonada, mas ele parece uma opção mais que válida. Marcus Holroyd é o melhor amigo do irmão de Honoria, Daniel, que vive exilado na Italia. Ele prometeu olhar por ela e leva suas responsabilidades muito seriamente. Odeia Londres e durante toda a temporada, permaneceu vigilante e intermediou quando acreditava que o pretendente não era o adequado.

Honoria e Marcus compartilham uma amizade, pouco atípica, fruto dos anos que se conhecem e que o torna parte da família.

Entretanto, um desafortunado acidente faz que ambos repensem sua relação e encontrem a maneira de confrontar o que surge entre eles, se tiverem coragem suficiente.

  RESENHA

Simplesmente o Paraíso, é o primeiro livro da série Quarteto Smythe-Smith, e conta a história da Lady Honoria, uma garota de vinte e um anos que ainda não conseguiu se casar. Como se não bastasse ser motivo de piada por ser solteirona, ela faz parte do quarteto musical da família Smythe-Smith: onde as jovens solteiras da família se unem — todo ano — em prol de tocar instrumentos de forma melodiosa (o que é uma imensa mentira, já que elas não conseguem ser melodiosas devido a falta de talento).

De qualquer maneira, para se livrar deste fardo, a Honoria está disposta a encontrar um cavalheiro para que possa se casar. Claro que alguns deles a corteja, e até demonstram interesse em lhe pedir a mão, mas algo sempre acontece e eles simplesmente somem sem explicação alguma.

Então Honoria vai passar um tempo fora de casa, na casa de uma amiga, para participar de um “belo jantar” antes da temporada de Londres: o que quer dizer que inclui ver o jovem e lindo Gregory Bridgerton antes de todas as garotas disponíveis.

No entanto, a casa da sua amiga é justamente vizinha das terras do Marcus Holroyd, o Conde de Chatteris. Marcus é o melhor amigo do irmão de Honoria, Daniel Smythe-Smith, que foi exilado para a Itália por causa de um acidente e um belo mal entendido. Bem, claro que Marcus também é o seu amigo, o que quer dizer que Honoria o conhece bem o bastante para que saiba de seus gostos e maluquices (e vice e versa).

De qualquer maneira, Marcus fica responsável de “olhar” a irmã de seu melhor amigo para protegê-la dos cafajestes e qualquer outro mal que venha a lhe prejudicar (não é surpresa que é justamente ele quem está afastando todos os pretendentes dela, não é?). No entanto, o que o Conde de Chatteris não espera, é que a Honoria arme um plano para fazer com que o Sr. Bridgerton se apaixone por ela. Claro que ele sabe que é loucura, até porque ela ainda é jovem demais para ficar se preocupando com casamentos. Ainda assim, por causa desse plano, Marcus acaba sofrendo um acidente e fica adoentado. Como ele não tem família, sobrou para Honoria cuidar do seu amigo... Ou seria o seu grande amor?

Apesar de ser a primeira, esta história é a minha favorita da série. AMEI como a autora abordou o tema do amor que surgiu de uma amizade e como isso foi/é importante para os personagens. A narrativa é típica dos romances de época da Julia Quinn e me diverti bastante enquanto lia. Valeu cada tempinho do meu intervalo lendo esta história e super recomendo pra vocês.

My oc Raye as an impostor.

So this particular AU is focused around Among Us, clearly lol.

The basic story is that a group of impostors that have infiltrated the Skeld, and are trying to kill the crewmates. By this point it is very well known that there are creatures that take the forms of humans and that they are lurking around human settlements and hiding amongst the crew, so the Captain [my oc Qrow] is on incredibly high alert for these alien lifeforms, and is having his crew exercise extreme caution.

[For story sake, this is where I’ve taken some creative liberties just for fun]

Two impostors in particular have been experiencing some weird changes to themselves, however. The more they consume humans, the more they are beginning to act more human than alien... they are learning and adapting, however, by extension, they are becoming more human. Raye in particular has grown particularly attached to one of the crewmates in the Skeld, and he has decided to do whatever he can to protect him from other impostors.

This particular member is Gregory Arruda.

Greg tends to overcompensate in confidence to get the attention of others. Of course, he means well. All he ever strives for is to learn and improve himself, but sometimes he can push himself a little too far, or set too high of standards for himself which leads him to feel down. His need of guidance and security is what bonded him to the Blue Lion.
