"Dig" by Mudvayne backing vocals
"Dig" by Mudvayne backing vocals I love this song but I cannot figure out what is being said in the back during part of it. It plays at about 1:33, anyone know what is being said?? I think Greg Tribbett is the voice but I'm not sure about that either. Submitted November 14, 2024 at 02:45PM by verycoolgrooveman https://ift.tt/02mUyuk via /r/Music

Wednesday, June 8: Mudvayne, “Prod”
The central tension within Mudvayne, to the extent it could be described as such, was that their stated musical ambitions often ran headfirst into their meatheadedness.  That dichotomy- again, if one were to use a word like that within the context of Mudvayne- was there pretty much from the beginning, as L.D. 50 and accompanying tracks like “Prod” had complex (and supposedly math-based) musical structures that, at the very same time, came across as very stupid.  To be fair, it was really Chad Gray’s inane gurgling that brought the song’s IQ down, as his warbling largely came across as him stringing random sentences together.  But Mudvayne’s first few records had a wiry sound all their own, as Ryan Martinie’s bobbing and weaving bass was much higher in the mix than typical for metal, often taking the lead over Greg Tribbett’s guitar.  And that was nearly enough to make Mudvayne seem a bit more interesting than they actually were (the Slipknot-esque makeup- which they would drop as soon as it became clear that nobody was interested- didn’t really help matters), and the band was at least able to use that to get a bit more serious on their next record.
