31 Days of Dick (Grayson)
Day 7. Fanfiction
One of Those Days COMPLETED! » by Batgrrl
Love the late 90´s early 00´s Batfam vibes (granted most of it was written during that time), still everything is great. Dick´s inner thoughts are funny. 10/10
A Different Game » by Charlene Edwards
Dick and Tim´s interactions are great. Bruce Wayne:Murder? inverted, lol
Learning Curves » by Jim Greeno
Cute Dick and Cass story about teamwork <3
Pas de Deux by Neoinean
Love how the author mashed some details from the TT 2003 cartoon into the comics’verse (mainly the apprentice arc) all in a short one-shot
you gotta tip on the tightrope by Anonymous
Good reconciliation fic between Dick and Jason post-Spyral, deals with pre52 stuff
After the Fall of Olympus by Killthespare
Best “what if the invasion from YJ 1x16 actually happened“, includes lots of stuff from the comics

I have this idea for a series. I call it
Isolated: a rvb inspired story
A team of random soldiers from different armies are stuck on an island and try not to kill eachother. The soldiers are:
Greeno - the ‘leader’ of the group, although nobody cares, that tries to keep everyone together. He’s very bad at it.
Blueber - the cocky lone wolf, constantly calling for help because he’s actually a fresh recruit treating this all like a big LARPing session until real danger shows up.
Purplep - the dumb yet charming one, doesn’t know what’s going on but still makes you smile with his unrelated comments on how pretty the island is or how he’s having fun with this ‘vacation’.
Orangen - the short tempered parent of the group, would be a great leader if anyone cared about having one
Very basic concept so far, but I may expand on this later, might even try to make a real series out of it
Enjoy the concept!

doxing myself a little for this but. if you have anything to spare after donating to more urgent things, i would love if any of you donated to my student worker cooperative, greeno.
it has been such an important part of my life for so long, and it has gone through a lot of hard times over the past few years due to the pandemic.
there are a lot of things i could say about the inherent contradictions and tensions that go into a student worker collective existing both under capitalism and with the restricted autonomy that comes with university resources. but even so, i think that working within a collectively and cooperatively organized space is a very special thing, and i know many people who have gone on to use that practical experience to enrich their work as activists and organizers.
umass is one of the only universities in the us with such a history of student worker cooperatives (greeno is 51 years old!), umass administration brags about this for tours while often existing in an adversarial role to the coops. we took out a loan from the university for an emergency appliance replacement right before the pandemic, and because we've only just gotten fully back on our feet after the past few years since reopening, the threats of closing us for not fully paying it back are still looming.
i love worker cooperatives, i love greeno, and i want greeno to continue existing and evolving long after things like the university of massachusetts in anywhere near its current form, capitalism, and the united states cease to exist.
so if you can, please donate! it ends tomorrow april 25th at midnight EDT. even if you only can donate $1, if we get the most unique donors (regardless of amount of money) from 8-9pm EDT tomorrow, then we will get awarded more money.

A Builder, a Researcher, and a Rooftop, Ch. 24: Potential Energy
prev | next | index
The builder let out a chuckle. “I’ll build it for you, but if the authorities swoop in, you’re taking the brunt of it.” “Now, now, don’t forget,” Qi said with a smirk. “Whenever an exceedingly unethical research development occurs, anyone directly involved in the creation of the unethical invention is implicated.” “Oh, now you care about the rules?” The builder laughed, dropping their head to his shoulder. “How romantic. We’ll be convicted of crimes against humanity together.”
Also on AO3
------------
“…And that ‘mole’ turned out to be a literal mole, and—”
“Wait, was that not what it was supposed to be?”
Tre builder blinked. “Huh?”
Qi raised an eyebrow. “You said that this hack inspector found a mole on the inside of Logan’s operation. And it was a mole, yes?”
Ah, right. This was Qi they were talking to.
“I-I meant a mole as in, a spy on the enemy’s side. That kinda mole.”
“Oh. That is a turn of phrase I am unfamiliar with. Hm. Well, carry on.”
“Right, sooo…” the builder hummed, trying to remember the order of all the weird events that had happened earlier that day. The second they’d gotten back to town, long after the sun went down, they knew they had to tell Qi all about it. It was Saturday, luckily, so all they had to do was rush up to the research center, where Qi was faithfully waiting for them, as always.
“Ah right, Mr. Mole was locked up by a robot. It was really aggressive and…pink.”
That got Qi’s attention. “A robot? With combat capabilities…?” He leaned in a bit, eyes widening. “C-could you tell what its original purpose was?”
“Oh… Hate to disappoint, but it’s basically just a sentient…mirror.”
Qi’s shoulders slumped with a sigh. “Well, I can certainly dream. When will there ever be an interesting robot to study?”
“I mean, for a mirror, it packed a hell of a punch. More of a punch than our mobile suit does, anyway,” the builder snorted, lightly elbowing Qi’s side.
“You and I know very well that the mobile suit is still in prototypical stages,” Qi huffed. “Its drill is already a fairly formidable force.”
“Ah, but does it have a laser gun and a wave…emitting…paddle…? I’ll be honest, I still don’t know what that thing was…”
“Well, I do have plans for a laser gun attachment at some point. I just need to find a good enough energy source.”
“Does that come before or after the laser sword?”
Qi hummed. “Practically speaking, the gun would be better to add first. The mobile suit already has a close-range weapon, and the controls needed for a ranged weapon would be significantly easier to integrate.”
The builder let out a chuckle. “I’ll build it for you, but if the authorities swoop in, you’re taking the brunt of it.”
“Now, now, don’t forget,” Qi said with a smirk. “Whenever an exceedingly unethical research development occurs, anyone directly involved in the creation of the unethical invention is implicated.”
“Oh, now you care about the rules?” The builder laughed, dropping their head to his shoulder. “How romantic. We’ll be convicted of crimes against humanity together.”
The builder felt Qi’s head lean into theirs. “I couldn’t wish for anything more,” he said. The builder giggled.
It was silent for a moment as they stayed leaning against each other. Then Qi piped up, “Um… How did we end up at— Oh, right. The robot. What happened after you dealt with it?”
The builder lifted their head off Qi’s shoulder. “Oh yeah! Then we set the mole free and he led us to the princess of the rats.”
“T-the what?”
The builder chuckled. “The princess of the rats,” they said again, slower this time. “I thought I told you about my last encounter with the rat queen? Back when people were green?”
“Hm…maybe you did, but I was too preoccupied with the ‘Greeno’ substance, I suppose.”
“Yeah, and I might have been too worried about having a green boyfriend and forgot to tell you.” They shrugged. “So, there’s a kingdom of mutant, sentient rodents, and there was a bit of royal infighting…”
“Ah. Politics. Significantly less fascinating than the robot.”
“Mutant rat politics, though. It’s more fun when it doesn’t involve your politicians.”
“I suppose. So what of this rodent monarchy?”
And so, the builder recounted as many details about the rat queen, her weird speech patterns, and her petty falling-out with her stepdaughter as they could remember, ending with them and the Civil Corps giving her the boot. Qi listened with a curious ear, though he definitely seemed less interested than when they talked about the robot.
“I see. Well fought. And, um…what exactly does this have to do with the bandits…?”
The builder laughed. “Yeah… Allll this was just for a tip on how to get to their base. Apparently we gotta fry up some rutabaga to lure Logan’s goat, and that’s it!”
Qi blinked. “For such a simple tip, that entire situation was needlessly complicated.”
“Well, we’re at the end of our rope here with Logan,” the builder shrugged. “We take what we can get.”
“Including advice from mole people you’ve only just met?”
“I’d say the mole guy’s reliable. He was nice! His tip was pretty harmless, anyway. If the goat doesn’t show, it’s no big deal.”
“And…if it does?”
“We’ll go from there, I guess.” They sighed. “We’re finally gonna get Logan. After so long…”
“Be on your guard,” Qi said, squeezing their shoulder. “Even with the Civil Corps to assist you, he and his gang are still armed and dangerous.”
“I know,” the builder muttered. “But honestly? I…I just wanna talk. I just wanna ask him why he’s really doing all this.”
“Unfortunately, you have to be prepared in case he does not share the same sentiment.”
The builder nodded with a grimace.
“…When will the mission take place?” Qi murmured after a bit of silence.
“Tomorrow. First thing in the morning.”
“I see. Perhaps it’d be better if you rest now, then.”
“Aww…” the builder pouted lightly. “But I just got here.”
“You’ll need lots of energy for physical exertion tomorrow. There will be plenty of time for us to spend together later.”
“Okay…” the builder relented, gently reaching over and clasping his hand. “Walk me home, at least?”
A faint smile rose on Qi’s face as he stood up. “I don’t see why not.”
Hand in hand, they descended the stairs and made their way around Mi-an’s house and down towards the tunnel. It was silent and peaceful as they walked, both of them gazing up to admire the moon.
When they reached the builder’s front gate, the builder let go of Qi’s hand and opened their arms. Qi smiled, before pulling them close.
“Good luck tomorrow,” his voice rumbled through the builder’s chest. “Stay safe.”
“I will,” they murmured in return, feeling a smile tug at their own lips.

A/N: Ugh, this chapter stinks. But it's necessary. I struggled quite a bit with adapting this part of the game's story in general. There's a couple ideas I ended up scrapping because they just weren't interesting or fun to write. That was mostly the cause of my latest bout of writer's block. Thanks for sticking with me.
But enough about that. Let's look forward instead. Say, what part of the main quest is next...? :)

Um, Nia? You're IN TOWN. You haven't left. What'd ya mean I didn't tell you? Did Logan and I tell everyone except you, somehow? Even Haru, out in Atara, got wind and responded.
Um. So, here's the implied series of events that occurred, according to this letter.
Logan and I got married
Pictures were taken of this event, wedding has not yet occurred
Pictures were probably taken by Jasmin or Andy. Bets are on Andy, blackmailing little gremlin. Love 'im
Andy (or Jasmin) were willing to share those photos with my parents, who I presume they've never met (in Andy's case- Trudy apparently has been talking to my mother this whole time, which would explain the photos having gotten to my mother)
Photos were shipped out to Highwind on what could only be a Deluxe version of Ultra Express
Nia shipped herself out to Highwind on Deluxe Ultra Express as well
Nia spent the night with my parents (not visiting hers? That's a very crowded couple of hours otherwise)
Parents shared the photos with Nia, who apparently forgot during the train ride over that Logan and I got married and was appropriately upset.
Nia shipped herself back to Sandrock via Deluxe Ultra Express via spite
Nia decided to write a passive aggressive letter and stick it in the box like any normal person would do instead of talking to me- her bestest friend in the whole world
Nia decided to ignore her passive-aggressive letter in my mailbox to demand I make her sandworm boxes for her so she can focus on trying to save the Mama Tree.
Oh, and somehow Haru also got the message via Deluxe Ultra Express and was very happy for the two of us, expressed via his own Deluxe Ultra Express letter back to us.
As a bonus for this same day:
Miguel sent a wedding gift from Jail. Don't remember what it was.
Andy called me his best bud ever
Logan decided that trying to hold my hands in the Greeno Labs was the best thing ever and kept getting in my way during combat
I got myself stuck in the Greeno Labs due to not seeing anythign except Logan's cape and got motion sick from the rapid change in camera angles as the game tried to figure its shit out
