Who hasn't questioned their sexuality or identity whith these two, let them throw the first stone. When I was an alternative 14 year old, I knew very little about Green day but I inmediatly fell in love with this video and their aesthetic since the first time I saw it on #Mtv

Everytime I watched it, something happened to me that many have experienced with other videos, movies and series, which is: entering a state of hypnotic love 💕😵‍💫💕 where I subconsciously asked myself "do I like her or do I want to be her?". And also "Do I like him or do I want to be him?"

The answer to all those questions was YES, but when I was a teenager there were more prejudices and fewer "options." Has it happened to you that real or animated characters cause this to you? Do you identify today with any LGBTQ+ identity? 🌈 Tell me in the comments !

I love ATSV, but, because of this fact, I keeeeep getting fanfiction and fanart across my dash that utterly refuses to contend with Hobie as the Black, London punk, from a 70's fascist England that he is. Instead, they can only conceptualize him as, like, a 2007 Greenday pop-punk at the most radical, and more often like a "Target Democrat" and it drives me mad because the movie did it GREAT?! The movie went, "Here's this dude. He hates authority, condones theft, violence, and actively supports insubordination." and these people said, "Got it, soft boy, baby, smiles, and comfy pants."

Like I know these aspects are not in conflict with eachother, but I don't believe the people making the art I keep seeing know that. It feels kinda...infantilising? PC in the way it meant 20 years ago, "I would have voted for Obama a third time" type shit.
