Oh boy...
So in her introduction, Lily names five shows she thinks people talk about the most often for important LGBTQIA+ Rep. Those shows are Legend of Korra, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, and The Owl House. She mentions three other shows that I'll talk about later that she says people don't talk about, but which either had rep earlier, or had just as good or better rep.
She doesn't mention Ducktales or the Daria movie Is It Fall Yet ?or any other shows. Just in case you're wondering. She talks about Braceface, 6teen, and Lloyd In Space. Now, Lily has mentioned the other two as they were shows she watched growing up. I think Lloyd was a suggestion on her blog. I remember someone mentioning it there.
I'll let her arguments for these stand as she is mostly talking about how "early" they were. I do want to point out these characters were only in couple of episodes in one case, and a single episode in the others. So, Daria should have certainly been at least mentioned as an early example, even if it wasn't a very good characterization.
The three shows she says have better rep then the five she thinks are held up so much:
Craig of the Creek has several couples that fit this description and it's good rep, because it's so low-key. People talk about them though. The show, though very good, can be a bit niche to begin with so it just doesn't have a large vocal audience.
The Loud House has Luna and Sam, which does get talked about too, but it's a contemporary of the other shows you mentioned. Which means Luna and Sam, by your standards for the more modern stuff, have to be main characters. If you count Luna and Sam as main characters, you have to count, at least, fifteen other people. Kind of easy for their couple of 15 minute episodes to get lost in that shuffle.
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts is one of my all time favorite shows. Lily says people are sleeping on Benson and Troy due to racism. What? Kipo is very popular in the fandom circles I hang around in and Benson and Troy are like THE ship. Did you sleep on this one, Lily? Did no one in your circle recommend it because it's a serialized fantasy adventure? Is that why you never did a dedicated video on it, despite it's rep being so good?
It wouldn't be a Lily video if she didn't tear down the shows other people like. First, there is something she repeatedly gets wrong, as far as I know, about Korra. She again says that Korrasami was a popular ship, true, and that they threw it together last minute, false. At least, by everything I've found. No, it wasn't planned from the start, but it wasn't last minute, either.
They started discussing it while writing book one. Writing. Not during it's run, not while animating the last few eps. While writing it. Why wait then? I suspect it's for something Lily has actually complained about before that actually happens. For some reason, showrunners want to wait until the end of the series to have the couple end up together. I suspect it was never anything deeper than that.
Okay, onto the Catradora thing. I'm not going to argue with anyone, not even Lily, who finds the relationship toxic, unhealthy, abusive. Though, now that I think about it, Lily, you sure seem to like to repeatedly show that footage for someone who gets triggered by FMA.
Anyway, I want to point out this hypocrisy:
Lily: If I have to hear it on a live stream, read it in production materials, or on Twitter, it doesn't count. I base my criticism only on what is in the show.
Also Lily: Let me once again call Catra and Adora sisters based on a single line I found on one page of outside materials, despite the show never once giving any indication that is the case.
She also lies and says it does indicate that. It does not. Hey Lily? Are Kyle, Rogelio and Lonnie also siblings? Wait. You never actually watched the show, you probably don't know who they are.
Should have just posted the bingo card again.

GREAT READING ADVENTURE PART 1 (CW: pictures from the Sandman comics may be disturbing to some)
I started with the Sandman, by Neil Gaiman. A legend in comic spheres, and one that I'd been wanting to read for a while.
I found 10 volumes at my local library and have made my way through two of them so far. First off, as a horror book DAMN. DAAAAAAAAAAAAMN these books do not pull punches. They come at you like a gut punch and just keep going. I like to describe myself as someone who enjoys "horror lite" I love monsters, I love angst and crazy situations and some messed up stuff, but I'm kind of a baby about it. Things like Supernatural, Gravity Falls (It's kid friendly, but there's blood!), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that's my jam (wow, that list makes me feel about 5 years old, but whatever! I like what I like!). The Sandman Is Not That.
The Writing
Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful in every way, but it's also a lot for a wussy like myself. I'm enthralled, captivated, unable to look away, but there have been multiple times where I've needed to close my eyes for a second and remind myself that this is a comic book, and the world isn't necessarily this dark all the time. I'm pretty triggered by children in danger/getting hurt/dying and these books don't shy away from that. But they're also just . . . so beautiful.
The writing is annoyingly amazing. I expected nothing less, it is Neil Gaiman, but sometimes as a writer you look at other people's writing and just sit back in awe. I wish I could write something like this. Or, if not exactly like this, something as beautiful and poignant as this. The story flows so beautifully. Every scene perfectly blending in with the next. Every word feels like it has a point, which makes you want to pay attention to everything to make sure you're not missing anything.
Writing is my main background, but comic writing is so different from prose. This is what I struggled with the most while drafting up OUTCAST ODYSSEY, how do I get everything across that I need to when I can't just write it all out? How do I pace it when telling a story with pictures vs words feels so different? But Neil does this so well. It felt lyrical, and I could see his influence on every single page. The art was done by someone else, but the ideas, the imagry, the way the story flows from one idea to the next, is all a result of absolutely phenomenal writing.
It reminded me to trust readers to read between the lines. It's difficult to find the line between "subtlty" and "confusing" and I am often guilty of feeling like I need to spell things out to my readers so that they won't miss anything, but more often then not that just slows down the plot and makes the whole experience clunky. You don't want to go too far in the other direction either, but Neil knew who his audience was and trusted them to at least give things a second glance. I was worried at the beginning that I'd be too dumb to figure out what he was hinting at, but he was able to patiently feed me the information without me getting frustrated or lost.
It's a skill that comes with experience and practice, but I feel like this story really really shines at it. I found myself studying the way he handled exposition and wanting to emulate it in my own work.
The Art
The art is also stunning. It's not "cute" art. It's not something that I would want to hang up in my house or look at for hours. It's amazing from a skill standpoint (which is easy for me to tell just due to my own extremely obvious shortcomings) but it's not concerned with everyone looking like hollywood movie stars.
Which . . . I mean, that's definitely a feature, not a bug. This story is not supposed to be cute, and a cutsy art style would absolutely ruin the atmosphere. It is rough and full of sharp points. it doesn't shy away from nudity or gore. The characters are not attractive, these are not anime stars, but they are compelling, and distinct enough that I was able to easily tell who everyone is, which is more often then not extremely difficult for me (i think I may be a bit face-blind).
The art adds to the horror of everything. Even when things are supposed to be calm, or sexy, or whatever, there's an edge of panic and unease to it. Part of that is the reader knowing that there's more going on behind the scenes then the character knows, but it's also the style. The heavy black shadows, the hard lines, the emphasis on some details while the obscuring of others, it all combines to perfectly compliment the writing. It's not a pleasure to look at, but that's absolutely the point. It's also extremely difficult to look away FROM. How can something simultaneously look jarring, eerie, and unpolished, while also whispering "Yes. This is beautiful art. Look at it. Bask in it."?
I'm a newbie artist. It's way beyond my skillset to even begin to figure out how they were able to accomplish this. But someday I hope I figure out the secret.
The art perfectly compliments the writing, and the two work together to tell the story. I remember feeling a little annoyed on the artists' behalf that the Sandman is always known as "Neil Gaiman's" when the art side of comics is so incredibly important. The art sets the tone and compliments the words. It helps with reading between the lines and helping us know how seriously we should be taking the words.
Characters
All of the characters are great! Except the ones I already knew. I'm not saying they were bad, just bland compared to everyone else. Constantine, the Justice League, every cameo that came up and I was excited for felt . . . not quite out of place, but not quite seamless either. I was most excited for Constantine, and he was fine, but I probably have enjoyed him more in every other comic I've ever seen him in. I know they were all included just to try and sell the first few issues of a new story, and I respect that (the amount of comics that I've read just because my favorite character showed up for a few panels is . . *cough* embarrassing), but I was kind of bummed by how little conflict they added to the story.
Constantine immediately agrees to help Morpheus (which, okay, he can see how powerful Morpheus is and doesn't want to get on his bad side, totally in character. But I like Constantine best when he's being a bit of a dickhead), when I was really expecting a bit of tension or at least antagonism between them. We briefly see Etrigan but he is so quickly outshined by Lucifer that I nearly forgot about him, Scarecrow shows up but I didn't really feel like he added much besides a familiar face, we see Scott Free (who I know very little about) and J'onn (whose reaction to Dream was probably the most interesting) but all they do is immediately tell Morpheus where he needs to go. Why were they so quick to be okay with this obviously terrifying powerful force just grabbing stuff? I guess I understand why J'onn was okay with it, since he knew who Morpheus was, but it still felt weird that there wasn't even a single moment of hesitation or resistance. They basically served as a plot GPS.
Again, there's nothing wrong with any of them, they just didn't feel as vibrant as all of the other characters we were introduced to. Even the woman who gave Dr. Destiny/Dr Dee a ride was more vivid and felt more real and purposeful than the cameos did. At least to me.
The original characters (or at least everyone I didn't recognize. Was Dr. Dee a Gaiman original or had he shown up previously? Cuz he was very much A tier villain for me,) were all amazing and vivid and lively. I cared about them way faster than I normally do, especially at the very beginning of a story. The cameos felt exactly like what they were: Cameos to sell the book.
Final Thoughts
This book is, objectively, better than anything I will ever create. And that's not even a diss on myself, it's just objective fact on the quality of this piece. I learned a lot looking through it, trying to figure out what Gaiman did that worked vs didn't. The lyricism vs crassness of the writing, the way the art complimented the dialogue, how the panels flowed and where it was easy for me to follow vs where I got a little confused. It's a beautiful book and I can absolutely see why it's a graphic novel must read. I'm planning on reading the rest of the series, but I can only read one volume a day, because the horror of it all absolutely follows me after I close the last page.

Shows that I’ve watched with none-to-few sex scenes
(Part 1)
Merlin (2008)
- No sex scenes in the entire series
IMDB Summery: These are the brand new adventures of Merlin, the legendary sorcerer as a young man, when he was just a servant to young Prince Arthur on the royal court of Camelot, who has soon become his best friend, and turned Arthur into a great king and a legend.
Reasons I liked:
- its gay (in my heart and in the magic metaphor)
- slow burn enemies to best friends (to lovers /j)
- kinda spooky sometimes ??
- homophobic (magic metaphor) dad gets what he deserves
Criminal Minds (2005)
[I do not recommend this show if you are triggered by discussion or depiction of sexual assault, or excessive violence. There’s a list of episode specific warnings at the bottom of this section. ]
[if you're looking for an episodic investigative type show with a much more funny and light-hearted tone that also has an autistic coded main character with the name Spencer (insert doofenshmirtz nickel meme here), Psych is pretty great]
- many episodes revolve around sex related crimes but these can be easily skipped over without missing many plot details
- some implied scenes where people have sex- characters kissing very passionately -but there are few and can be easily skipped over without missing many plot details
IMDB Summery: The cases of the F.B.I. Behavioral Analysis Unit (B.A.U.), an elite group of profilers who analyze the nation's most dangerous serial killers and individual heinous crimes in an effort to anticipate their next moves before they strike again.
Reasons I liked:
- its an anthology (I love anthologies)
- good actors playing interesting characters
- spencer reid is asexual and no one can convince me otherwise
TWs: this is a list of possible triggers relating to harm to children, harm to animals, and sexual assault for each episode. I pulled it from a comment on reddit by u/princessgalaxy43 on this post. I’d also recommend taking a look at Does The Dog Die?’s page on Criminal Minds before you watch.
Literally any cartoon that is targeted at kids
My Recommendations:
- Dead End: Paranormal Park
IMDB Summery: Two teens and a talking pug team up to battle demons at a haunted theme park and maybe even save the world from a supernatural apocalypse.
Reasons I liked:
(I haven’t finished it yet I’m sorry)
- its gay & trans!!!
- spooky
- neurodivergent rep
- The Owl House
IMDB Summery: Accidentally sent to the world of the Boiling Isles before a trip to summer camp, a teenage human named Luz longs to become a witch, with the rebellious Eda and pint-sized demon King at her aid.
Reasons I liked:
- its gay
- I relate to the characters
- cool magic system
- also a cool magic school that isn’t homo/transphobic
- character development
- Gravity Falls
IMDB Summery: Twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines spend the summer at their great-uncle's tourist trap in the enigmatic Gravity Falls, Oregon.
Reasons I liked:
- it’s gravity falls
- cool villian
- ~mystery~
- nice sibling duo
- Steven Universe
IMDB Summery: A team of intergalactic warriors fights to protect the Earth, but the combination of three highly trained beings and one quirky young boy leaves the team struggling to overcome the dangerous scenarios that are put in front of them.
Reasons I liked:
- it’s gay
- there’s banger music
- steven is the sweetest person on the planet
- Infinity Train
(highly recommend, it’s underrated)
IMDB Summery: Various people find themselves on a mysterious train with an endless number of cars, each one being its own universe, and they must find a way to get home in this animated anthology series.
Reasons I liked:
- interesting concept
- good characters
- cool character design
- it’s an anthology (i love anthologies)
- Over The Garden Wall
(also highly recommend, also underrated but probably because it’s a limited series)
IMDB Summery: Two brothers find themselves lost in a mysterious land and try to find their way home.
Reasons I liked:
- cool character designs
- elijah wood can voice act ?!
- singing frog
- villian is an eldritch horror

Yandere Request Page
I’m pretty open when it comes to writing. Keep in mind I only write character x reader. I don't want my work put anywhere by anyone else whether I'm given credit or not. That being said, I do also post on Quotev, Wattpad and AO3 all with the same name that I have here on Tumblr.
What I will not write:
Non consensual
Incest
And anything else along those lines.
No character x character (it would only be them working together not going after each other.)
No OCs x character
What I will write:
Gore/dark stories (they are yanderes after all.)
Platonic & romantic relationships.
AUs are welcomed and above all please be specific in what category you want it to be in (stories, team ups, headcanons etc.)
SFW & NSFW
Reader x character
If you don’t say or if it is unclear what category you want it to be in (stories, team ups, headcanons etc.) it will then turn into the writer's choice.
What I write:
Stories/ Drabble
Yandere ABC
Yandere Profiles
Mini Profiles
Team-ups
Reactions
Random Yandere Headcanons
Darling/Yandere Says Prompts
A few extra things:
With team ups I will do them with opposite genders.
Although i can't have a limit on characters there's a chance that if there are many characters i will cut it in half. For example, for the Danganronpa case if the whole case is requested I will split it by writing the boys and girls separately.
I can do mixed posts with characters from different series in the same post.
All series that are below are put in ABC order and in categories in how i am following them plus just of what they are to make it easier to find series. (there is a chance of a series being in more than one category.)
I’m open to trying to write any of the characters in those series.
This page will update when there are new series or as needed.
Another thing I should mention is that I don't have a limit on how many characters. I know some have a limit of like 3 to 5 but I'll write whoever is written in the request as best as I can. (This also includes team ups and stories.)
Series I'm most familiar with (I'm always adding new ones and always open to new ones. I do try to keep everything in ABC order.):
New series will be in bold for the month.

Hi there! First off, wanted to say thanks for sharing your stories with us - Mondo and Taka are…intensely relatable characters for me in general, and the way you write them only makes it more so. I love them dearly, and your characterization of them is beautifully realistic in a way anime-boys-in-a-murder-school have no right to be, haha. But my question is actually about your other interests (forgive me, but I love hearing other people pontificate about their interests/passions/etc. so…) — if you don’t mind sharing, what other fandoms do you have a particular attachment to, whether you’ve created anything relating to them or not? Your work is wonderful and I’d love to explore more of it! Keep doing what you do, at whatever pace you are capable and comfortable with! 🧡
Aw this is so sweet!! Thank you so much!! :-D
I'm going to put a read more on this, just to help with dashboard clogging, as this got super long. As usual 😂😂 Though Tumblr's new long post thing might help with that, so who knows. But I'm used to using read mores, so... meh.
Ohhh boy, do I have a ton of other interests. 😂😂 My most recent fandoms that I've gotten into are Our Flag Means Death (which I'm so happy got renewed for a second season!! I loved the first one, so much. I hope it doesn't kill me with feels though!!!!), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (And Apollo Justice, which I just finished), and Banana Fish (which is actually the only anime show I've seen, and while I highly recommend it if you've not seen it, you have to be careful since it's SUPER dark. Like... it's about a literal gang from New York and child trafficking. The main characters remind me a lot of Taka and Mondo, but even more depressing. Very good, but very dark.)
Then, of course, you've got my all time favorites, which include Harry Potter (though I've lost a lot of love for the series thanks to J.K. I can't ignore it, though, since it straight up shaped my teenage years and I STILL go by the name I made for my HP themed FB page when I was 13, DracotheDeathEatingCupcake. And I still love the characters, even now, so... yeah. But I fully support trans people and J.K. makes me sick), Supernatural (Destiel all the way, ha), Gravity Falls (and, for the record, I DO NOT like BillDip in canon! I liked it in fanon, which is why my most popular fic is BillDip, okay?? Oof), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (this one shaped my teenage years almost as much as Harry Potter, honestly. Spuffy is my fav of all time, even now. It sucks that Joss Whedon was such a creep. Why are all the things I liked as a kid made by terrible people??), and, surprisingly... Batman. That's a surprise since I don't like the majority of Batman things, and I more like the image of him I have in my mind, ha.
In addition to those, I've also had some big obsessions with the following: Rise of the Guardians, Danny Phantom, Legend of Zelda, The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings (the former more than the latter, actually. Also!!! I've been to the actual Hobbiton!!! I'll show pictures later, ha), Avatar the Last Airbender, She-Ra (the new Netflix one), Voltron (also the Netflix one), The MCU, Merlin BBC, Detroit: Become Human, Good Omens, The Witcher, Hunger Games (😉), Percy Jackson and.... god, a lot more prolly, but this is already a pretty extensive list, ha.
However, if you want the ones I've created and published fics for, I will list them in order from most recent to oldest here. Warning, it's a lot, ha. I've been writing since I was 13 (11 years, FYI), and I don't think a year has gone by where I've not written and published at least one fic.
Ishimondo from Danganronpa (duh, ha. I think I've written more Ishimondo than any other fandom other than HP, but most of my HP stuff was back when I was a young teen and was max 3k words each, so Ishimondo beats it word count wise by a long shot, ha.)
Merthur (Merlin/Arthur) from BBC's Merlin (which is actually the other 375k fic I wrote in a month and a half that I've mentioned before. This one got a little messy towards the end, since I tried my hand with a plot for the first time, and it was.... eh. People seemed to like it at least, so that's something, ha. But it was unique in that I started writing it when I was, like... 16/17, lost inspiration, and only continued writing when I found it again on my ancient iPod touch's note app several years later.)
Destiel (Dean/Castiel) from Supernatural (I actually have another fic for Destiel that is completely finished and I actually really like, but I just... have not posted???? For some reason?????? I keep meaning to but don't have time 😩 Maybe one day. Like maybe around the two year anniversary of Destiel becoming canon, and the two year anniversary of me finishing the fic 😂 Also, fun fact, but my first fic on AO3 was a Destiel fic. It wasn't my first fic ever, but my first fics will live on in infamy on fanfiction . net and will die a cold, cold death when that website finally goes belly up.)
An Avatar the Last Airbender fic that focuses on Lu Ten, Iroh's son (I love Zukka, but could never think of an idea for them, so I never wrote one for them. I had the idea for the Lu Ten fic after seeing a Tumblr post wondering about an AU where Lu Ten was secretly an earth bender, and HAD to write it. The first two chapters are pretty solid, but the last four... eh. Could do with some work.)
Hank/Connor, from Detroit: Become Human (I was weirdly obsessed with this game for a hot minute in 2019?? I still like it, but it was a pretty big thing for me then, ha. This fic of mine is another where I tried to have a plot, but it turned out meh. That's why my most recent fics have no real plot, and is mostly driven by emotion and details, ha. I'm much better at that than real plots.)
A Tony and Steve (from the MCU, ha) family fic (NOT ROMANTIC) where Steve is kid Tony's distant but loving uncle after Steve (spoilers for end game????? Ha) goes into the past to be with Peggy. It was a fix it fic of sorts.
BatJokes (Batman/Joker) from Batman, but more specifically, Bruce Wayne/John Doe from TellTale's Batman series (I had the idea for this fic when I was in a Target after having finished the second game and wrote it for like... 10 hours straight, ha. Fun fact, but this fic is actually the best fic I have in terms of kudos to hit ratio, with a ratio of over 1:1, if that means anything to anyone, ha.)
BillDip (Bill Cipher/Dipper Pines) from Gravity Falls (but like I said, I liked the fanon interpretation of BillDip!!! Not canon, since in canon, Dipper Pines is 12 and Bill Cipher is a homicidal ageless demon who is The Worst, but in a funny way. The fanon interpretation still wasn't great, but it was less bad to me when I was, like... 16.)
Stanley Pines and Stanford Pines from Gravity Falls family fics (I separated this from the last since it was its own thing, ha. Not much to say about these other than it was my first series and kind of started my whole "write from the other perspective" thing, since I first wrote a fic from Stan's perspective, then wrote one from Ford's.)
BagginShield (Bilbo Baggins/Thorin Oakenshield) from The Hobbit (I am gonna be honest. I really disliked the Hobbit when I had to read it for a book report in, like... 10th grade I think?? But I LOVED the movies, even if the third movie was kind of pointless. I liked how Richard Armitage played Thorin, and how the movie gave the dwarves a much better a reason for wanting to go back to the Lonely Mountain than, uh.... I want gold. -.-)
And now I will put the fandoms/ships for fics that are either on FF . net and are not seeing the light of day (unless someone really is curious, but, uh... they're not very good and it's obvious a 13-14 year old wrote them, ha) or are in WIP Hell and will likely never get out. Also from most recent to oldest.
BlackBonnet (Edward Teach/Stede Bonnet) from Our Flag Means Death (this fic sadly landed in WIP hell despite me writing it for a week and a half straight and ending up with almost 100k words. But I realized I didn't like the way I wrote it, and I didn't know how to end it, which is just... yeah, disheartening, but I had fun writing it at least.)
WrightWorth (Miles Edgeworth/Phoenix Wright) from Ace Attorney (I actually have a completely finished one shot that was originally gonna be a longer fic, but works as a one shot, but again, I just keep not having the time/inspiration to post, oof. I also had started a longer fic with an OC young girl that Edgeworth fosters after her father gets murdered, and Phoenix helps him with her despite (spoilers for Apollo Justice) being all jaded after being disbarred, but I got a bit stuck with it and realized it was a meh plot, so... it's also now in WIP hell forever, RIP.)
Drarry (Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter) from Harry Potter (this ship is both one that is in WIP hell and is on ff . net, ha. The one in WIP hell is actually pretty good, but I just ran out of drive to finish writing. It's funny since I knew exactly where it was gonna go, but, uh... yeah, just ran out of drive. The one on ff . net is slightly better than my other older stuff on ff . net, but that's only because I was slightly older when I wrote it, ha. It's still Not Good.)
Dramione (Draco Malfoy/Hermione Granger) from Harry Potter (This is entirely from ff . net, and it was actually my first real OTP. I don't ship them anymore, like... at all, since I'm more a Drarry girl, but it still holds a special place in my heart, ha. It also contains one of my better named fics, which I'm sure is the only reason it still gets views on ff . net even 11 years later, oof. All of my Dramione stuff is trash, though. Also, fun fact, but I only started liking Dramione because of A Very Potter Musical/Sequel. Ha.)
Spuffy (Spike/Buffy) from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I think this was all one shots, nothing too substantial. None good either, ha. I do adore Spuffy though.)
And now, finally, I have a small list of fics I wrote on FF . net that were either for a friend, or were fun things I wrote but didn't really like the ship much for, ha. All are from Harry Potter, FYI.
Scorpius Malfoy/Lily Potter, which was actually the first fic I ever wrote, which I handwrote on paper during lunch time when I was in 7th grade, ha. I eventually transcribed it to my computer a year later, but it was the first fic I wrote and I didn't even like the ship that much, ha.
Draco Malfoy/Astoria Greengrass, which I only wrote for an online 'friend' who said it was derivative and had been done before. This was also a 'friend' who hated when I would call myself awesome (ironically, since I didn't like myself that much when I was a teen) because I was, and I quote, 'not awesome, so stop calling yourself that.' Yeah. She, uh... was not a great friend.
Lucius Malfoy/Professor Flitwick. Don't... don't even ask. I used to do HP roleplay, and I did an RP as the parents of the main characters, and I was Lucius and my friend was Flitwick, and I wrote this for him. It was my first (and, for the longest time, only) smut fic, and it's, uh....... yeah. Also! I just realized that those RP things showed a lot of indication that I was ace even before I knew what asexuality was, ha. I just remembered this, but I realize now that I never liked RPing smut, even when my friends were all "aw come on, it's not that bad!!!" But it always embarrassed me, so I only would do it with the people I trusted, and even then it felt weird to me (which was also in part because I was, like... 13-15. So were my friends, though, so don't get worried, ha). And my previously mentioned 'friend' (but different to the friend I did the weird smut fic for) got offended that I would write it with someone else but not her. Now that I think of it, my RP years were, uh... not great ones, wow. No wonder I've mostly blocked them out, ha.
Anyway!!! Wow did that end up long, oof. I hope this answered your question, because by this point I don't think I can even parse this response anymore, ha. I've also done art work for other fandoms, both digital and hand drawn, but if I add that this response will be never ending, oof. Maybe I'll see if I can link to my previously mentioned FB page (that I'm still active on, actually), where I have almost all of my old artwork posted, if anyone is still reading this and is curious. Is anyone still reading this??? If you are, reply with a smiley face and I'll give you a virtual gold star. I'd give more, but I'm always tired and can't make promises anymore :-(
Also, I think I promised Hobbiton fics, so, as promised:
These were all taken by my friend who lives in New Zealand, who went with me to Hobbiton, ha. I went in 2018 and it was soooo nice. I love NZ. I want to go back one day, but I'd rather go to new places before revisiting old places, so... maybe one day.
Also, a closer look of my elf ears my dad got me for Chanukah/Christmas one year, ha.
#Ask Answers#SUPER long response oof#I'm not concise :-)#But if y'all are here I'm sure y'all expect this by now ha#Also surprise Hobbiton pictures

Chapter 5–BLACKBOX; Scene 4
master of the heavenly yard pages 107-115
The reinforcements for the Tasan Army were being swiftly mowed down by the monster that had suddenly arrived on the scene—
Arth and Yukina, who were both stationed at the main encampment, watched the ongoing sight from afar with gloomy expressions.
“Kyle—”
Arth gave a start at those words. “You’re saying the identity of that monster is the Marlon boy, Miss Yukina?”
“Yeah, probably…He was once taken over by the ‘Demon of Pride’. I think that he…used his memories of that time to change into that form at will.”
“…A demon, huh…Certainly, it’s hard not to believe, with power like that. I suppose that makes him a fairly dependable ally for us—”
“…”
“Are you worried about him?”
“…Yes. I can’t help but wonder if his heart has also grown evil again—”
Arth patted Yukina on the head as she cast her eyes down with anxiety.
“—I don’t know Kyle very well. However…Even in one whose form has been created by a wicked being, as long as their heart is strong—there is no need to fear them falling to ‘evil’.”
“You…think so?”
“Let me—tell you a fairytale. The prince of a certain country, he lost his life in a carriage accident. The prince’s soul wandered the forest, and there…he met with a spirit that took the form of a Black Rollam bird.”
“—The spirits of the forest appear before people with their own respective animal shape…That’s legend told by the Held sect of the Levin church.”
“This was a dark spirit who loved pranks, and he said this to the prince: ‘I shall revive you’. And this was indeed carried out…however, his body had become that of a mud doll, built to look identical to a human being. The prince returned to his country, but he continued to hide that his body was made of mud.”
“A mud person…And did no one else find out?” Yukina asked with great interest.
She had always been the kind to love stories like this.
“The mud body that the spirit made was very elaborate. As long as the prince didn’t let anyone touch his skin, then no one would be able to find out the truth. –He grew up, and became the king. And then he married the woman he loved…But as one might expect, he couldn’t hide the fact that he was made of mud from his own wife. And so—”
“Arth.”
Arth had been about to continue talking, but Anne interrupted him.
“Reminisce later. Right now we need to concentrate on the battle in front of us.”
“Y-yeah…Of course.”
Swayed by his wife, Arth stopped his story and made an apologetic gesture to Yukina.
…But Yukina had seized upon the word that Anne had carelessly let slip.
Anne called it ‘reminiscing’ just now…Could it be that the king’s story is—
At that moment, a trumpet call resounded from the enemy encampment.
“Look! The enemy’s retreating! Arth cried out happily. “They must be scared off by the force of our army and that monster—Kyle.”
“It looks that way…However.” Anne looked up at the northern sky. “That black box is still floating there—No, rather, it looks to be slowly moving this way.”
“That must be the enemy’s last resort after all. But there’s no way to interact with it floating so high in the air like that—”
“Fiiiire!”
Behind them they heard a woman cry out the order, and then immediately afterwards the sound of explosions ringing out.
Arth and the others turned around to see the artillery lined up along the palace roof.
“Leading that heavy artillery unit is…Commander Muchet’s daughter, I see. Though unfortunately I don’t think even those can reach the box.”
The box steadily advanced on the Lucifenian encampment without sustaining a single scratch.
.
Having turned the tables on the Tasan army reinforcements, Kyle looked up at the black box above his head.
“And now…there’s this left.”
He flapped his wings and approached the box.
“This…!? Is it not an illusion?”
The faint “tremor” that could be seen on the guns and swords the enemy allies held, as well as the self-propelled artillery and palace, was not present on the box. An object that had a definite mass was moving through the air.
Kyle thought to himself that was rather more convenient. It was impossible to completely destroy illusions and ghosts, but there was no such limitation on something that actually existed.
He had confirmed earlier that even a sword created with imagination could cut through real dirt.
--So then, it was possible for him to destroy this box with his claws.
“ROOOOAR!”
Giving out a war cry, he struck at the box with all his strength.
…Did I do it!?
He was sure he’d felt it connect.
…But his monster claws had only left a faint scratch on the box’s surface.
“Tch…Then I’ll just have to hit it until it breaks.”
Kyle lifted up his hand once more.
.
--Lu li la, lu li la.
.
He realized that a peculiar noise was reverberating from inside the box.
And then the lid of the box—its top panel slowly began to open.
What the!? The air is distorting—"
By the time he noticed the change, he was entirely too late.
Without any time to resist, Kyle—
Was swallowed up into the box in the blink of an eye.
.
<One “Deadly Sin Contractor”
has been detained
Formatting will begin in 3600 seconds>
.
--The menace of the “Blackbox” didn’t end there.
Once it had been opened, the box did not close again…and the people of the improvised Lucifenian army nearby started to get sucked inside, one by one.
“Aaaagh! What? What is this!?”
“I’m being…pulled in by the box…”
“H-help meee!”
They screamed as they went.
There were no souls—who could go against its power.
Allen and the others each stuck their respective weapons in the ground and clung to them for dear life.
--But they wouldn’t be able to hold on for long.
“Ghh…The soldiers are steadily going into that box—”
The power of the souls—was being swallowed up from those of weak hearts.
The only ones remaining of all the souls nearby were Allen, Germaine, Leonhart, Mariam, and Chartette.
“Aagh!”
Chartette’s hands separated from the hilt of her sword.
“Charteeette!”
Germaine desperately tried to grab her arm, but she was too late.
Chartette flew through the air and was swallowed up by the “Blackbox”.
Shit! I’ve gotta—I’ve gotta do something--!
Allen struggled to make his mind work, but was unable to come up with a resolution.
.
“…This is incredible. Amazing! Ha ha ha!”
Tony and the Tasan soldiers had been retreating earlier, but once they caught sight of the “Blackbox”’s power as it began to work, they unthinkingly came to a halt.
“This really is a ‘God’s power! Now no one can stop us!”
Tony was practically intoxicated with the might of the “Blackbox”.
“Come, black vortex! Swallow up all of our enem—Hn?”
And there, for the first time, he realized…the situation that he and his subordinate soldiers had put themselves in.
The distortion of time and space caused by the box that Tony had called a “black vortex”—It was steadily growing, and in a flash it had reached where Tony and the others were.
The box’s tremendous suction exceeded the gravity of the Hellish Yard—Upon losing his ability to move freely and starting to float into the air against his will, Tony screamed, “Asshole! You tricked us, Gammon! Dammiiiiiiiit!”
--The “Blackbox” devised by “God” was impartial.
It would swallow up all of the souls, and format them equally.

Gravity Falls S02E18 - Weirdmageddon Part I
I really like that name for the end of the world. I'm not sure what to expect from this one since this is literally new territory for everyone. My one hope is that Mabel gets forgiven easily but there has to be some drama, either for the twins or the Stans (since that relationship really needs some mending, and the end of the world seems to be a good place for that kind of thing.) I think that's all so let's do this!
If this is the first shot of the episode, things are going to get _weird_.
Wait. Wait. What.
Okay, had to go back and check Bill's summoning circle.
I completely forgot about this but I guess he needs all the symbols for something beyond summoning everything weird into this dimension? But why? Uhm.
Anyway, back in Dreamscaperers I wrote:
Glasses = The ones Stan found in the room with the magic carpet? Question Mark = Soos Ice - Fish with food? > Pine = Dipper Star with an eye Hand = Whoever wrote the journals considering the symbol on their covers? Llama/Alpaca? Shooting star = Mabel Heart with stitches
Fish with food ended up being Stan's fez. I _think_ Heart with Stitches could be Robbie. Hand is obviously Ford. I'm still not sure about Glasses (they really look like Stan's glasses but... how would that work?) and Star (maaaaybe Gideon? The star appears in the ending cypher in S02E14.) The alpaca/llama and the ice are a complete mystery. Considering everyone of importance is in there already, maybe Wendy is one of those two?
Symbols aside, does this mean that Mabel is going to be missing until who knows when? That's a bit disappointing.
Imagine being able to choose any physical form at all and choosing to keep being a dorito.
Before I paused I was convinced this guy was some weird Nigel Thornberry cameo.
So, Bill has 10 friends, which is exactly the number of symbols in the summoning circle. Huh. Interesting.
Maybe it means nothing but their appearance feels so sudden that I feel they have to be important somehow.
Immersion ruined, the Northwests would never lower themselves and go "downtown"
What a trianglist, she had no problems with Mabel.
I imagine Wendy can't wait to go to college a thousand miles away from her family.
Death, Famine, War, Conquest and Capitalism.
That's horrifying. But he's a dick. What a moral dilemma. Nah, he really deserves it.
Why steal Durland? Huh. Maybe he's also one of the symbols? Or Bill is just being Bill.
Oh, oh, I know what they do!
What an intro, I'm 100% sold.
What can our protagonists do? I guess Ford has a plan, maybe the symbols are for unsummoning Bill and that's why he's collecting them so they can't do whatever ritual they need to do. Maybe Ford and Stan will be in a similar situation that made them fight 30 years ago, but this time they actually communicate and win? Mabel is out so I hope they rescue her (or she rescues herself) before too much plot happens.
I _love_ how much of an effect the changed OP had on me.
After watching 37 episodes with the same opening song any changes are immediately noticeable and it feels _wrong_. What a great way to show how everything is changing for the worse thanks to Bill.
It does make me wonder how Gravity Falls is going to recover though. It looks _bad_, bad enough that in any other show I wouldn't be surprised by a time-machine or a literal genie undoing everything bad that happened. I doubt that'll happen here, since the town itself is so used to the "weird" but if someone dies all bets are off.
YESSSS, Dipper doesn't blame her! I'm sure there'll be some self-blame later on but I'm so glad his first reaction was to be worried.
Why is Soos unaffected? Is it related to his presence in the summoning circle? Looking for unaltered people may be a good way to find who are the missing symbols.
Soos deserved more episodes, what a hero
Has there been any positive romantic relationship in Gravity Falls?
Wendy and Dipper was an unrequited mess, Mabel and all her crushes were all disasters of some kind or another, the less said about Wendy and Robbie the better, and Tambry and Robbie is the result of the twins messing with their minds without their consent. Oh, and Gideon and his murderous crush on Mabel.
I love that tiny shiny dodrio.
I didn't need to know that Bill's hat was meat and bones.
What? No! Warnings later, explanations how to defeat a demon now!
This is the first time he calls Dipper by his symbol, right? He also called Ford "six fingers." The writers really wanted everyone on the same page here about making the relation between the symbols and the characters.
...I refuse to believe that the eye piece meant nothing with how much it has been shown!
Weirdmageddon sounds much better.
Wow. He has been wandering around for three days, probably having to scavenge for food and water. These kids are really going to need a therapist after summer break is over.
For some reason I find that guy more disturbing that most of the weirdness in this episode so far. He just sounds very predator-y.
...oh Dipper, those nachos are three days old at best. So young, so ignorant of the consequences of gastroenteritis.
...of course. I'm glad she's okay. She's been shown as a very badass so it would have been a shame if she was down without a fight.
But, but, rabies.
Can't wait for the weirdmaggeddon to be over and then immediately after everyone dying of infectious diseases.
So, how many post-weirdmageddon dipper/wendy fics did this scene inspire?
Robbie is conspicuously missing from that list
nevermind. Would have been an amazing selfie though, can't fault him for that
Aw. This got me a bit teary-eyed. They really can do anything if they are together.
Shame about Mabel being inside Bill's floating lair completely out of their reach.
What a raw deal, last game I played with twins on it they l– actually, never mind, spoilers. But it was really cool, believe me.
It looks like the mission briefing for a stealth game so, in my case, I'd try to avoid the lights, fail miserably a thousand times and then rage quit. Hopefully Dipper is better at stealth.
Making the world weird?
Wouldn't they know what's going to happen? Since there seems to be only one timeline? Actually, nevermind, I'm too sober to analyze the time travel mechanics of gravity falls.
Time Baby was the most powerful entity in the show so far! Stakes have been raised.
RIP Bodacious T, we never go to know you.
Mad Max: Fury Road, 2015
Two months being a villain and he still hasn't learned to avoid monologuing.
Don't worry, Gideon. It took Steven Universe 6 years to grow a neck, you'll get one someday.
Huh. So Bill manipulated him by using his obsession for Mabel. That's a nice way to explain why it came back after so many episodes without mentioning it too much.
Ugh.
She's a genuine action movie heroine trapped in a cartoon
I have no idea how Wendy manages to get more and more badass this season.
Right!? Right!? Wow.
Holy shit, this really is Fury Road.
that's deep, man
Ah, that explains it. Nothing more dangerous than a philosophy major.
Hatoful Boyfriend, 2014
My mind is exploding right now. I wasn't ready for anime Dipper and Wendy. What are the monkey and kid in the backseat referencing?
Lady Gag– nah, I refuse to use the same joke three times in the same liveblog.
* screams in terror too *
What a shame that we couldn't see the birth of the legend of Soos.
I can't believe Dipper is using the "Power of Understanding" to talk Gideon down.
This is really good. I almost want to joke and say "but it wasn't worth the Wendy/Dipper episodes" but it actually does make them work in retrospect. It's probably the largest source of character growth for Dipper during the show and here's the payoff.
I mean, yes.
WHAT
HOW DARE YOU
GAME IS OVER, AND I WON
NOW IT'S TIME TO START THE FUN
I ALWAYS LOVE CORRUPTING LIVES
NOW LET'S SEE WHICH PINES SURVIVES
well, that's nice.
---
I wasn't sure what to expect from this "Part 1", I thought it was going to be mostly setup. And it had a bit of that, just to show how screwed Gravity Falls (the town) is, but after that it was all action and it was all good.
I think getting Ford out of the way early was a good idea, it removes the possibility of a quick solution. Now Dipper has to figure things on his own. He still needed Wendy to remind him of what he and Mabel are capable of but that's a friend offering help, not "the mentor" giving him the answer to the problem. On the other hand, while Stan hasn't appeared after the goat, he hasn't been captured yet (he's important enough to deserve an on-screen capture, unless it's going to be revealed as a demoralizing surprise?) so I think he'll appear soon since he's just a guy, without any special knowledge about Bill.
Soos really deserves his own show. "The Legend of Soos" Or give Wendy her own show with Soos as the mysterious stranger that appears from time to time to help. Because wow, Wendy is lost in this show, she should be the protagonist of something.
But the star of the show was Dipper talking Gideon down. I _really_ didn't expect that. This is not a show where the protagonists defeat their villains by talking to them (with some exceptions) so I thought they'd defeat him in some other, more violent, way. And the way he uses the "Power of Understanding" to do it (go read Scott Pilgrim)! While Dipper never got to that extreme, he "gets" it and that's just * chef kiss *
I can't wait for the next episode, especially because this one ended in a cliffhanger, so until next time!

It's anon-whose-dad-looks-like-McGucket again! He hasn't eaten any raccoons... yet... at least that I know of... XD Having fallen into this fandom hole rather aggressively with a lot of time on my hands, I have found the episode commentaries, graphic novel, and shorts. Are there any other behind the scenes or supplementary materials you recommend?
Hey there again! And bless, bless you for falling down the fandom hole.
As far as supplementary materials are concerned, I’m going to list everything I would recommend. I’ll even list things you’ve mentioned above, in case other people reading this post would be interested learning about GF extended materials too! I’ll be listing GF content in order roughly from “most essential” to “not so essential.” Note: this isn’t a comprehensive list of tie-ins. Also note: this list talks about spoilers from the show itself.
Journal #3. If you’ve already found out about the graphic novel and gotten your hands on that, I imagine you know about Journal #3 too - but since you didn’t mention it above, or if you were going to skip it over, I’m bringing it up now! Journal #3 is a *MUST*. I consider this book as essential to the Gravity Falls experience as the show itself. (Probably because the 1980s boys are my soul, life, and feels.) Journal #3 isn’t written to be a dump of monster lore, though there’s paranormal experiences in this book, of course. Journal #3 is a well-done narrative focusing on Ford’s hubris character arc and providing it amazing resolution. It also complexly dives into the relationship between Ford and Fiddleford, and to say that that narrative has ruined me and kept me awake at night would be an understatement. It makes the scenes and events of S2 more meaningful, and just… aughghgh. There’s so much to unpack there and I keep waiting for an excuse to yak about it.It’s also got several moments I wish could have been in the show proper (though I respect the need to cut for time and focus on the Essential Essentials, and think they did a great job prioritizing). If you’ve finished the commentaries (don’t know how far you are), you may remember Alex Hirsch saying they tried to get Dipper’s real name reveal into the show sev’ral timez, but ultimately cut it and left it for Journal #3. That scene definitely reads as “should have been in the show,” and it’s a great moment. Plus, Ford’s final remarks about “trust no one”? Ohhhhhh it’s so good, and makes the resolution to the show’s events all the better.
Journal #3 Blacklight Edition. Unless you can travel back in time to preorder, or have several thousand USD to spend today (no, I’m not joking, go onto eBay and cry), you’re not going to get your paws on the special blacklight edition of Journal #3. But there are people who have photographed important notes! Such as: [1] [2] [3]
Lost Legends. A graphic novel with several short adventures. They’re all side adventures, but there’s some development on Dipcifica, and Mabel confronting her selfishness, that are nice additions and expansions to people’s characterizations. Wonderfully done, nicely arted, and feels like reading four new short episodes of the show.
The shorts, etc. I know you said you’ve gotten to the shorts, but there are so many shorts and promotional ads that I hope you’re going through the wiki pages and not just DVD menus to unearth everything. I don’t feel like pulling up my DVD to check, but if I remember right, some things like Creepy Letters from Lil’ Gideon didn’t make it to hard copy release? So anyway. I know some of these are easy to find and you’ve probably gone through them, but for the sake of thoroughness:
The Unaired Pilot
Creature in the Closet
Dipper’s Guide to the Unexplained
Mabel’s Guide to Life
Fixin’ It with Soos
TV Shorts 1 and TV Shorts 2
Mabel’s Scrapbook
Mystery Shack: Shop at Home with Mr. Mystery and its Outtakes
Old Man McGucket’s Conspiracy Corner
Creepy Letters from Lil’ Gideon
Gravity Paws
’Pocalypse Preppin’
The deleted scenes. The special edition DVD/Blu-ray provides a ton of S2 footage of the writer’s room, Alex narrating the storyboards, and through that showing us scenes that were cut or altered. There’s AMAZING stuff there, oh my goodness. It’s complicated finding all released deleted scenes materials, though, and honestly, I’m still trying to fish through the interwebs for more. You’ll find some released storyboards online for S1 and S2 that didn’t make animation. There’s a second long animation of Ford and Stan adjusting their glasses at the same time that made trailers but not “A Tale of Two Stans.” Or you’ll find things on Alex’s twitter page, like the now-notorious Dipper-snaps-Dippy-Fresh’s-neck-on-screen moment. And things like Bill’s initial introduction scene have been animated by fans. :)
Shmeb-you-unlocked website. I have fondness for this page because I love learning minor details about characters. This is a hidden website url you can uncover going through Lost Legends. Got some fun stuff on Anti-Mabel, Tate McGucket, and Pacifica, for instance.
The Episode Commentaries. Seriously, these are the most enjoyable commentaries I think I’ve watched (outside of the LOTR cast commentaries, anyway). They’ve got insight into everything, from talking about character psychology, to storytelling techniques, to storyboard artists’ contributions, to how fans’ responses literally changed how the creative team wrote the show.
The Special Features for the Special Edition DVD / Blu-ray release. All the special features on the DVDs are cool and enjoyable! Between the Pines, etc.
The Hidden Special Features. The Special Edition DVD / Blu-ray release comes with lots of hidden special features! Grunkle Stan’s hidden commentary for Land Before Swine is treasure. Like, Stan starts rambling about his childhood and embarrassing stories about Ford and stuff… it’s amazing. There’s also a Bill special feature that I love.
Cipher Hunt! Most of it’s just fun, but it’s wild to consider that Alex staged an international scavenger hunt by choice. I don’t like road trips, but I would be very tempted to travel to see that Bill Cipher statue. Because I have… fandom issues. Haha.
Dipper and Mabel and the Curse of the Time Pirates’ Treasure! Though I’ve entertained myself with this, I don’t recommend this as highly as the other stuff on here. But if you want to keep living Gravity Falls, this is one of the books out there with original non-show content. There’s even a few moments in this book that were taken from the unaired pilot or deleted scenes. It’s a choose-your-own adventure, has nice art, and stuff. While it is written by Rowe, I don’t consider this as necessary of an addition to Gravity Falls fans because the choose-your-own adventure doesn’t (to me) capture the deep heart of the show. It’s more of a light, silly, random what-have-you. It does have a hidden web link to a page with the Axolotl, though, so that’s sort of important?
The Games. Most games are simple online flash games with no informative or lore-adding content to them. You won’t get anything new out of them, so take or leave them. But ya know, they still pass time in non-objectionable ways. If you’re really craving ANYTHING GF, why the fuck not. That’s how I ended up playing them. Some games have enjoyable versions of the main theme… the Weirdmageddon: Take Back the Falls game did not have to go so rocking hard on the music, and yet it did. (I may have recorded the audio to the level select and stuff and added it to my iTunes library.)I know you’ve been watching me play Legend of the Gnome Gemulets on my twitch. The other games that I think are the most entertaining are Rumble’s Revenge and Pinesquest (mostly Pinesquest, but it’s a “sequel” to Rumble’s Revenge).
And if you haven’t gone clue hunting and decrypting yourself, and don’t want to extend the effort to do so, the cryptograms page on the wiki is a must!
Alex’s old twitter posts have some interesting things too from time to time?
I hope I remembered the main things. And I hope this helps!

Wendip Bits from the GF Complete Series Commentary/Lost Legends Comic
Hey all! @ddp456 here!
So, in between helping Kenzoe64 with the last few pages of the Protector comic and working on chapters of DBR3 (yes, I swear it’s still coming) I’ve had a bit of a secret project I’ve been working on (and to be honest, I’m kinda surprised no one else beat me to it)
Over the last few months, I’ve had a chance to rewatch Gravity Falls through the newly released Complete Series Blu Ray set, and for this, listened to every commentary created for each episode, as well as those made for the special features disc (which forgive me if I’m wrong, but was for the BD set, right?).
While the tracks give a HUGE insight on all things GF, it also unveils the curtain on many things Wendy and Dipper related; some things I guessed correctly from the very beginning (see my personal notes for bragging rights), and some, well, that kinda shocked me, and left me uncertain about a few details. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
As you can guess, think of this as a dissection of the commentaries given, focusing on our favorite duo from the series, and afterwards, I’ll include a few questions of my own. Fair enough? Let’s get started:
(Tidbits in the first few episodes)
-Alex Hirsch states that Dipper’s crush on Wendy was always meant to be a big part of the series.
-Hirsch wanted to drop Wendip hints in the first episode (Tourist Trapped), but Rob Renzetti (Supervising producer director, creator of My Life As a Teenage Robot) talked him out of it, saying that he was doing it way too soon.
-The age difference between Dipper and Wendy was the very first conflict that came to mind in the writer’s room, so therefore, it was used.
-The persona of Wendy herself was crafted like that of a “cool camp counselor” so that she could do cool adult stuff, and be able to do “kid stuff” as well without being out of place.
(The Inconveniencing)
-The Cold Open for Episode 5 (Roof Time!) was created at the last minute because the writers realizes that the Wendy/Dipper connection really wasn’t justified. The roof sequence was to make not only Dipper fall in love with Wendy, but the audience as well. (D’aww! - Editor’s note)
-At the end of the episode, the second “Zipped Lips” motion between Wendy and Dipper symbolized many things. It shows that Dipper (despite lying) is accepted by Wendy into her social circle, and given her friendship. Her lying to the other teens is just as important, as she does so without Dipper asking her to. This was done to make Wendy as real as humanly possible, showing that she is just as cool as Dipper (and we as an audience) make her out to be.
-Hirsch often laments on the fact that they didn’t do a full “Wendy-themed” episode. He explains that the point of many episodes is that a said character “learns a sin” and they were afraid to do so with Wendy, in fears that it would ruin her chemistry. (more on this later - Editor’s note)
-They foreshadow the conflict over Robbie and Dipper (involving Wendy) and recognizes that things weren’t always realistic (e.g. how Dipper can beat up the Multi-Bear, but how he was deathly afraid of Robbie). Hirsch’s reasoning is that the audience seems forgiving with such exaggeration as long as everyone appeared to stay in character ( again, more on this later - Editor’s note)
(Double Dipper)
-Originally, Double Dipper had nothing to do with Wendy (GASP! - Editor’s note) The original premise was about Mabel trying to set up a party so she could mingle with the citizens of Gravity Falls, and make new friends, and Dipper, being the anti-social opposite of her, tries to prevent this at every turn, only to fail. It was only when at the last moment, someone suggested to have Dipper’s story be about Wendy.
-During the slow dance scene, the animators specific added a shot of Wendy from Dipper’s POV so that we (the audience) could understand and feel the same anxiety that he did at that moment.
-At the dance of the episode, Hirsch and the rest of the crew theorize about what happens when Dipper goes back inside the Shack at the end of the night. He specifically asked, “Do you guys think he asks Wendy to dance?” The rest of the crew disagree, saying they can picture Dipper trying to dance on his own, and Wendy cheering him on, sprinkling confetti on him from afar like in the beginning of the episode.
(Cute, but what about this?
is it non-canon, now? Did the commentary happen before the real Journal 3 was written? Or is it presumed that Dipper lied in the journal? What the fuck? - Editor’s note)
(Irrational Treasure)
-Going off on a tangent, Hirsch describes Dipper’s crush on Wendy as “creepy” and “over-the-top.” He details that it’s Dipper’s seriousness that leads to misfortune, and for that, he takes a lot of lumps.
-The Zodiac is mentioned here, and the writers explain that the Ice wasn’t always related to Wendy. The symbol was random.
-And as a cute sidenote, the “binkies” that the Pines twins have at the back of their heads were taken from the same ones that the Mario Bros. have.
(Time Traveler’s Pig)
-Alex Hirsch goes hard on Dipper here. He explains that Dipper has a very naive, yet forgivable, but wrong idea about romance.
-He feels that Dipper would die a thousands deaths to have Wendy feel the same way about him.
-Dipper is desperate to have this perfect moment, this perfect day with Wendy, because he believes that he’s not perfect on his own (told ya’ all! - Editior’s note)
-Hirsch says because of this, Dipper doesn’t deserve to get what he wants. This idea of how the world works shouldn’t be rewarded.
-He adds that creating the lessons above was the hardest part of writing the episode.
(Fight Fighters)
-Hirsch knew that the “crush” angle was getting old, but he loved the story presented here. He says that “Dipper’s heart was in the right place” when defending Wendy against Robbie. (again, take that, internet! - Editor’s note)
-Hirsch was blown away by the internet’s response to the episode, shocked to see how many people have had a negative reaction to it. At this point, Jason Ritter (voice of Dipper) responses, “What?! Love doesn’t die, guys!
-Alex goes into how he doesn’t care for “shipping,” that the “Wendy/Dipper” stories come from need for conflict, but not from character relationships. With Wendy involved, Dipper is motivated, desperate, and will do the most insane things.
-He agrees with internet that the crush wasn’t really going anywhere, but he loved the W&D scripts that kept coming in.
-Robbie’s calling out Wendy like a dog (C’mon, out, girl!) was ad-libbed by TJ Miller.
-Hirsch believes that if left alone, Robbie would have never fought Dipper. He was jealous that his girlfriend was going off on all these weird adventures with this kid. (Wait, so there are untold Wendy/Dipper adventures out there?! - Editor’s note)
-The height difference between Wendy and Dipper literally comes from Alex’s real life (and his twin, Ariel, was taller, like Mabel), where he was the smallest kid in class, and his science partner in school was regular sized, and also, his secret crush.
(The Deep End)
-The episode was always meant to be a non-serious, low-stakes piece. Dipper’s having a good time with Wendy was not meant as romantic, but as friends.
-Wendy was originally meant to have a two piece bikini, but the network made them change it (So, wait, it wasn’t a homage to the Sandlot’s Lifeguard Wendy? - Editor’s note)
(Boyz Crazy)
-Hirsch regrets not clarifying the Robbie/Wendy/Dipper portion at the end.
-He insists that the hidden message in the song was mere coincidence. Wendy was not hypnotized.
-He sees the situation as follows: Dipper is jealous that Wendy is into Robbie’s music. For this, Dipper figures there has to be a sinister reason for this.
-Robbie definitely stole the music, but didn’t know that the message was there. Hirsch says as a child, he was personally fascinated by rock bands having hidden messages in their records.
-At this point in the commentary, Ariel Hirsch chips in, saying that in the end, “Dipper wasn’t thinking about Wendy.” Jason Ritter (Dipper himself) agrees, “He’s only thinking about calling out Robbie.” (told ya’ all x3. - Editor’s note)
-Alex Hirsch’s quote about the hidden message: “Backward messages can’t control people’s behavior because you can’t understand them!”
-His notes on Stan and Dipper bonding in this episode: “Both would rather believe that there is a huge conspiracy rather than they’re bad with women.”
(Land Before Swine)
-Hirsch says as side-notes that Wendy had a running bet with Grunkle Stan about who would eat the corn-unicorn first (he didn’t bet on Waddles). Also, he says that Ford has a fear of women because after a bad experience involving someone being freaked out by his six-fingers.
(Gideon Rises)
-Hirsch admits that Gideon’s speech to Dipper is bullcrap. Dipper has beaten plenty without the aid of the Journal 3, but his insecurities make him believe otherwise.
(Scary-oke)
-Wendy has two cut scenes that are shown in the Special Features disc. At the beginning of the episodes, she (along with Soos) is interview by the news and she is chided for using the word “Jerkface” on live TV. She then goes into a huge rant about her “freedom of speech.” The second shows that Wendy was given the blow-horn by Mabel to be the official hype person of Scary-oke.
(Into the Bunker)
-ITB won an Annie award?! (Didn’t know that - Editor’s note)
-Hirsch wanted to keep the Dipper/Wendy crush going, but could see that the audience was getting tired of it. The writers decided to have Wendy become a member of the team and go on adventures, choosing to have Dipper deal with heartbreak sooner than later.
-It was considered to be the third priority for the second season. (Reveal Author, Revisit Switch in the Woods, and Kill the Crush)
-Speaking of, the Bunker’s staircase was taken from the video game classic, Myst
-The script for “Into the Bunker,” was given to Matt Chapman (of “Homestar Runner”/Strong Bad fame), because all of his GF scripts happen to have heartbreak in them, earning him the nickname, “Shipwrecker.”
-Wendy and Dipper’s movie night/Cold Opening was the very last thing to be added to the episode. They needed something to tie Dipper’s investment to both the adventure at hand, and the Wendy crush
-In this, Dipper’s confidence grows by defeating Gideon, and when Wendy says she doesn’t need guys, it brings him to turmoil by the impossible and hopeless.
-The symbol room was originally the “Gonna Die” room.
-This episode is in Alex Hirsch’s top 5 GF episodes, because of its darker tone.
-He details: there are so many good moments in this episode where Dipper is suffering at the hands of this girl that’s so much cooler and so much beyond what he could even understand.
-The GF team knew that this had to be a stand-out episode for Wendy. We had to spend a lot of time with her, showing that she could hold her own and make a valuable addition to the Mystery Crew. Hirsch regrets not doing that more. For this, every time Wendy is added to the team, she’s awesome.
-The most amount of takes in the entire series was the “Dipper crying over dead Wendy” scene. Hirsch explains that it was a hard thing to sell, and a really vulnerable moment.
-ITB’s ending was one of the hardest endings to write. The commentary says they rewrote it 5 times to get it right.
-An idea used was “Love is temporary, but friendship is real love?” (Hell, that’s what I use about 90% of the time - Editor’s note)
-The line “Don’t be itchy.” was added super late to the script. The team tried to avoid as many cliches as possible.
-The first time the Wendy/Dipper confession scene was watched in animatics, Hirsch and crew felt that it was “too romantic,” like a romcom.
-In the Special Features disc, we see a sneak peak of the deleted scene. In this, Dipper goes in on a rant of despair, pledging to Wendy that he’ll try to avoid the Gift Shop from now on, and that she’ll never have to talk to him again, before she stops him and tries to calm him (Dude, Dude, it’s okay...) (Poor baby... - Editor’s note)
-The scene was meant to reflect Alex’s own puberty, which wasn’t romantic, but nightmarish.
-”It’s meant to be terrifying for Dipper. His heart is in his throat as he has to have this talk with Wendy. He’s frozen, waiting for it to pass, and Wendy can see this pain, and she’s doing everything she can to show him, “Nothing’s different. Everything’s normal. You’re normal. These feelings are normal. I’m a couple years older than you, and I’ve seen this. I’ve been around the block. We all go through it. You’re going to be okay.”
(Kinda wish they went this route instead of the whole “age” thing. It’s beautiful - Editor’s note)
-It couldn’t be a “will they/won’t they” situation. The real question was “will they be friends after this?”
-The writers could see a very legitimate path where Wendy is like, “Dude. you’re creeping me out. Maybe we should take a little time from each other because this is not healthy, etc.” The fact that she was so beautiful and cool and treats Dipper so well shows that she IS the awesome kind of person that Dipper thinks she is.
(The Golf War)
-A quick note about Dipper and relationships. Dipper’s normal social fear melts away when he’s around someone he hates so much. Someone like Pacifica brings out pure sass and rage. (HA! - Editor’s note)
(Little Gift Shop of Horrors)
-There was a possible story being tossed around where Wendy gets a tattoo and gradually, it overtakes her/she becomes the tattoo herself. Alex Hirsch loved the idea of a living tattoo, stating that it’d fit with Wendy’s rebellious teen nature, and that she’d learn a lesson at the end of it.
-The writers passed, saying that Wendy is very hard to write for. When we see her, she’s cool and controlled, and for a short story concept, finding that depth to make it valuable would be difficult. Plus, they didn’t want to be compared to Moana (or the fact it’s almost exactly like a Goosebumps story? - Editor’s note)
(Society of the Blind Eye)
-Hirsch and the writers loved the Wendy/Mabel scene because there’s not many of them throughout the series. To them, it was great to show Wendy as the “cool, older sister.” Hirsch dug Wendy’s complete disregard of boys. “Don’t worry about them. Yeah, whatever, they’re a dime a dozen. I’ve had so many boyfriends...”
-The writers discuss what kind of man Wendy would end up with. “He’d have to be something - some kind of specimen. She’s so confident and having a good time, comfortable in her own skin; if a guy’s cool, she’ll be “Yeah, I’ll try it out,” and when she’s bored, “Yeah, no thanks,” leaving a bottomless scar inside their heart,” going on to cite Robbie as example.
-Alex Hirsch added the line about Wendy’s being stressed 24/7. It’s obviously not what she shows the world, and yet, it shows how you can vaguely see it there. (Tell me about it - Editor’s note)
(Blendin’s Game)
-Alex Hirsch’s view on family: “Friendship is thicker than water, and family’s something you can create.”
-Hirsch’s further thoughts on shipping: He tells the writers that it’s meaningless. He rather ask if they have a compelling story instead. He doesn’t care about love, saying “Love isn’t the end - it’s a story turn.”
-A member of the writing cast was going to comment on the baby Wendy and Tambry scene, when she was interrupted, and the point is never bought up again. (Dammit! - Editor’s note)
(Dungeons, Dungeons & More Dungeons)
-Hirsch debated about having a scene where Dipper reveals his real name to Ford. The consensus said no. The same happened for “Dipper and Mabel Vs. the Future.”
(The Last Mabelcorn)
-Originally, the episode was going to be a Wendy-eccentric episode involving her family and her relationship with Manly Dan. On top of that, she was going to gain magical weather powers as well. The team decided against it, not wanting to be compared to the movie, Frozen, as well finding it hard to balance considering Wendy’s grounded character.
For this, they made it up to her by having Wendy (and her influence) take over the episode after the first third.
(Roadside Attraction)
-The Special Features disc shows an alternate opening that doesn’t showcase a Dipper/Wendy angle at all. Dipper asks a group of ladies to borrow a quarter and instead, gets beaten up for it. Mabel and the gang figure from this that Dipper needs help talking to women.
-The whole point of the episode (to Hirsch) is that Dipper gets advice from Stan when Dipper is only trying to move on, while Stan has no idea what he’s doing, stating he is not a role model by any means. The lesson is not to present false affections and learn to hear other people’s feelings. “Stan lives alone for a reason!”
(Dipper & Mabel Vs. the Future)
-The Mabel/Wendy scene was created so that if someone as cool as Wendy doesn’t like High School, it immediately changes Mabel’s perspective on the matter.
-One of the Government agents were originally going to offer Dipper an apprenticeship/”advanced learning path,” in due to all of his discoveries and research.
-Hirsch figures that Ford’s speech towards Dipper is similar if not the same that he gave to McGucket. Ford takes advantage of hero worship - it’s not so much as he needs an apprentice, rather to have someone that’ll do anything he says. (So where are those people that says Ford doesn’t have a mean streak in him? - Editor’s note)
-Upon Dipper rescuing Ford, Jason Ritter laments on commentary, “If only Wendy could have seen that moment...” to which the room explodes with laughter.
(Weirdmageddon Part 1)
-Hirsch explains: “Wendy is the most grounded character in the series, so in this ungrounded scenario, she is able to make the most of it. She can handle just about anything.”
-Wendy’s speech to Dipper was struggled with for a while. It had to be a speech not about Dipper’s self-confidence, but about how he needed Mabel back (which the writers says there’s truth in)
-The live action Wendy and Dipper scene (with Jason Ritter and Linda Cardellini) had lines cut from the final version (Son-of-a-... Editor’s Note)
-The Gideon/Dipper speech represents the full completion of Dipper’s Wendy arc. It’s a real-life lesson that Hirsch says many people in real life still don’t get.
(Weirdmageddon 2: Escape from Reality)
-A deleted scene in the Special Features disc expands on the beach scene, where Mabel zaps Dipper, Wendy, and Soos’s ruined clothing into gaudy swimwear (though Wendy has a cute flower in her hair ala Hawaiian). They go to the beach and Wendy begins to admire the hunky volleyball players, leading to a jealous Dipper.
-Alex Hirsch explains that the fantasies offered in Mabelland aren’t fantasies, they’re easier outs. Wendy’s is teen rebellion rather than facing reality. Soos’s is the dad he always wanted.
-With Dipper, what was originally going to be behind the door was Ford and the offer of the apprenticeship. They would go off on adventures and discoveries, only to stumble upon a now-alone Mabel, growing up in High School, and having a real life. Hirsch axed the idea, believing that Mabelland, and by extension, Bill Cipher, wouldn’t show the downside of any fantasy, rather Dipper would have to discover it himself. For this, the writers had to go back to “the Wendy Well.” (Special note: we at @wendip-week have to use the phrase, “Wendy Well” more often - Editor’s note)
-Earlier versions of the episodes had different “Wendy wants,” including one where we find her writing deep poetry. The writers go on about her fantasy, saying that it couldn’t be a “perfect guy,” because she’s self-realized. But at the same time, they admit that Wendy “exhibits destructive character flaws that she has to get over.” They add, “She really loves that aimless teen rebellion, that it’s hard to turn down all that chaos.” (So, why the hell didn’t they make an episode about that?! And I wanna see Poet Wendy ASAP! - Editor’s note)
(Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back The Falls)
-Alex Hirsch: “Gravity Falls was always meant to have a bittersweet feeling to it.”
-Weirdmageddon was about giving everyone a hero moment. Part 1 was Wendy and Dipper’s. Part 2 was Mabel, and the Mystery team as a whole. Part 3 was the Stan twins and the town united.
-Jason Ritter marvels at the Wendy and Rumble sequence, noting how all the other characters are fighting with machines, and yet Wendy is going at it bare-handed.
-Weirdmageddon was approved to be a made-for-TV movie, but Disney demanded another 3 episodes for regular air. The team declined.
-There was never an official plan for the Zodiac. It was something the team made as a tease, but after seeing fan response, they knew they had to do something with it. Linking Wendy with the bag was a last minute decision simply because of the scenes involving her and ice throughout the series.
-A quick note about the original quote of the Llama, versus the final one given by Larry King, “Llamas are dumb, blonde, beautiful, and they spit!” (BWHAHAHAHAHAHA! - Editor’s note)
-Hirsch is a big believer in visual aid. The Pines twins changed on the inside, and he wanted something to show that on the outside as well. Mabel got to keep Waddles, and for that, Dipper received Wendy’s hat, as a symbol of their friendship.
-Rewatching the scene, Jason Ritter says that he believes Dipper never takes off Wendy’s hat, and is too shy to tell anyone its origins. (”When people ask him, he’s like “Don’t you worry about that...”)
-Alex Hirsch says the switching hats idea came from a storyboarder’s sketch, in which he said, “That feels right.” (Uh-huh. Just a sketch... - Editor’s note)
The Wendy’s note scene was meant to be ambiguous about two things. The first being “Mystery.” It gave Dipper one last question to ponder in his head. (Had to do one last tease, eh? Editor’s note)
-The second was “Endings.” “Did something just die here? Are all these things we love really gone?” HIrsch says not quite. “Endings are new beginnings.”
A few neat points of interest (non Wendip related)
-Jason Ritter is a HUGE gaming fan, where he was able to name almost all the references in “Fight Fighters.” He also played and completed the Gravity Falls 3DS game twice (where Alex Hirsch admits he never has...)
-Hidden in the Double Dipper episode, there is a secret commentary track, where Jason swoons over Wendy for part of the episode, only to be interrupted by his clones (including one that had to camp out for “The Legend of Zelda - Breath of the Wild)
And lastly, I want to address the new comic, Lost Legends. While it didn’t have a hint of Wendip in it:
(sorry, fam, Wendy making a crack about Dipper wearing a skirt doesn’t cut it for me. And didn’t mean to mooch. @fereality-indy. - I couldn’t find a real scan)
But it does contain two other important pieces of information (besides Mabel getting her just-desserts).
The first is a code that gives the hint, WENDY'S MOM: IN ANOTHER DIMENSION?
Such a thing would explain a ton. One would guess that Wendy and her family believes that her mother just vanished, meaning she could have abandonment issues. (and yes, kids, such a thing can affect how people have relationships)
And to add to the tease, there’s a second hint as well in the first story:
(and thank you, GF Team for giving me another canon point to add to the Protector comic by stating the BES still exists!)
But back to the task at hand, we see that the far right vital has Wendy’s mom’s memories. Is this in conjunction with the above point? Or its own theory?
Hopefully, this plot point is exploring in the next piece of GF related media. All I can guess is this, if Wendy’s mom really is stuck in another dimension, the Pines better pray they didn’t have anything to do with it...
The only other interesting thing to note is that at the end of the second story, Wendy makes an comment about “overthrowing the government,” which kinda sounds like the cut scene from “Scary-Oke” mentioned above. Is it a statement of the politics taught in the Corduroy home, or is it a reflection of current views from Alex Hirsch and the writers? (It’s fascinating either way, IMHO).
So, with everything said and done, I’ll admit, reader, I’m a bit mixed up, feeling wise.
On one hand, Alex Hirsch himself confirmed a shit-ton of Wendy and Dipper info that makes me feel like:
But at the same time, it seems like one of my favorite parts of the show is the one he could care less about - that it’s an end to a means. The closest feeling I can relate to is how the Professor in the 2nd TMNT movie inadvertently tells Donatello that he was an accident.
And I get it, the series is based on the dude’s real life, and that includes nearly every aspect of Wendy and Dipper, rather it be good or bad (or as he describes it, mostly bad). But that’s kinda of why I love it, too, that I can relate to that as well, as I’m sure many of you can. I can say with full honesty that I’ve been both a “Dipper,” where I’ve followed along with a way-too-cool-for-me-girl like a lost puppy, and I’ve been a “Wendy,” too, in which a small ball of wonder looked up at me like I was a gift from God, and I tried my best not to sour or pervert that, and yet, remain honest. It is an interesting story, even if it’s not the main story.
Man, he wasn’t kidding when he said “Gravity Falls was about being bittersweet,” eh? But still, the fact remains: while it wasn’t perfect for ol’ Dipper, at least he wasn’t Patti Mayonnaise-d.
Between the numerous essays and questionnaires I’ve whipped up this summer, I still believe that there is ton of info to be asked and answered, especially involving our non-official favorite duo. We can only hope that the powers that be may want to wish about that “Wendy Well” one day in the future. Nothing is ever certain, and with that, I’ll leave you with some of the truest words out there, straight from Dipper Pines himself (and because I can’t find the damned gifs.)
Until next time.

Okay I did this on my Twitter, let me copy my answers here on my Tumblr.
Day 1 – Favourite character: Grunkle Stan, my fave character in the world. He's fun and smart and he just loves his family.
Day 2 – Favourite journal page: the unicorns. I love Mabel journaling!
Day 3 – Favourite creature: the Multi Bear! He's cool and has a good taste in music! (no picture because... he's not very photogenic)
Day 4 – Favourite location: As much as I love the Mystery Shack, I will answer Greasy's Diner. It looks so much like the typical american diners you see on tv, with typical food and drinks and vibes! And the staff is cool.
Day 5 – Favourite episode: Do I really have to choose only one? Listen, I do what I want, and I want two episodes. NWHS and ATOTS. They have to be watched together anyway! The big reveal and the tragic backstory, all the feeeeeels!
Day 6 – Funniest joke: When Soos is the incarnation of the fandom, like "I predicted that one year ago" or "I hope it will be like my fanfic" and "can we have an anime gunsword?". Funniest character.
Day 7 – Favourite merch: I love my fanzines and stickers and charms, but they're not official. I've got the DVDs but no US player. I loved the stories in Lost Legends a lot and owning a Journal 3 is so cool, that I can't choose between them.
Day 8 – Favourite song: The opening theme is great but my real favourite song is Neil Cicierega's "it's gonna get weird" Everytime I get a décaf coffee, I sing the corresponding lyric in my head and smile.

Day 9 – Favourite quote: "Gravity Falls is real and it will never die." — Jason Ritter, fanboy. Oh, you meant from the canon show? "Non specific excuse (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻" — Stan Pines, fleeing an awkward situation
youtube
Day 10 – Special Memory about Gravity Falls: My husband and kids watched Disney Channel on a hotel tv. He told me they saw a cool finale, we should watch that series someday. Years later, Covid lockdown, we get Disney Plus and finally find it: we are hooked!
Thanks for the memory trip @gf10yearslaterzine and happy birthday Gravity Falls !
