maybe he's being childish, but the holiday season hasn't ever been greeting card worthy for the rhodes -- no matter how much money cornelius tried to throw at it -- so maybe he's desperate for a little bit of childish fun for both of them. he won't consider himself successful until he sees a smile out of catherine. crouched down behind his car, he shouts back. ❝ sounds like the response of someone that knows she's losing! ❞ a few seconds later he shoots up for long enough to send another snowball sailing toward the arm of her coat before disappearing behind the shield of his car again.

he laughs at maddie's sudden outburst. it's one of the first times he actually feels like himself since the break-up with tommy. he laughs so hard that he feels the burn in his abdominal muscles. it's a little over the top for the situation, but something he really needed. ❝ you put santa himself to shame with how excited you are to give to people. but don't ruin the fun! isn't my face when i slowly realize what it is when i open the package better than you blurting it out right now? ❞ though, it's warming his heart to see how excited his sister is about the holidays. he always felt like they were never that big of a thing growing up -- at least with their parents. maddie always made sure christmas was special for him.

it had to be a bug.  working in the hospital you are no stranger to getting them. some can last a day, some a lot longer than that. it had to be something that she ate. her, tyler and aubrey went to this new mexican restaurant the previous evening, and at the time it tasted delicious, but she woke up at two in the morning to throw up. to make things worse, she was unable to get more than one hours worth of sleep before her alarm at six in the morning.

she sat in the chair at the nurses station, officially regretting even coming into work in the first place. ❛ since last night. it's fine, I am fine.... it has to be food poisoning or something. ❜ she eyed her water that she kept at her computer station, contemplating whether or not to take a drink.  but she knew that she might get sick again. ❛ i really hope that is all it is, because I really can't be sick right now.  ❜

he's not sure when the last time a few simple words nearly made him panic. he knew something had to be wrong when catherine called him while he's at work. he'd stepped out of the ed to take a call, but now he's fumbling with his phone to put it on speaker while he texts maggie to let her know that he's got an emergency and to get someone called in to cover him. despite that he is worried about her he doesn't want to add to the stress of whatever had happened to make her bleed -- a lot apparently. ❝ bleeding from where? please tell me you called an ambulance before me. where are you at? ❞ wherever it was he's determined to make it there in five minutes tops and hopes he can pull a favor out of kevin atwater or jay halstead if he needs it.

there's plenty of nights where he opted for an on call room instead of trudging his way home. he's gotten very little experience with driving in the snow since moving to chicago, so he appreciates maggie's heads up. after all, there's been one time in his lifetime that new orleans had gotten snow and it hadn't gotten over an inch, but it had been a wonderful christmas surprise. guess he now knows why it sounded like the er was starting to get busy as the shift started to change over. ❝ thanks for letting me know. i don't need to white knuckle it the whole way home after the day i've had. think i should grab a coffee and clock back in? ❞ it hasn't been the worst shift, even if it hasn't been the best. if he's still going to be on hospital grounds he's assuming he should make himself available if needed.

hi, this is my little appreciation post for this year. i just love people in general and i'm no really great with grand gesture or words so, imma just says that this year with you all had been a fantastic one. rping on here and with kol did bring me new friendships and old ones that i have missed so much so, this post and the love i have for all of you is for you. hoping this new year that arrives brings out the best and magnificient things for you all. you all deserve the world and more than that, just, here, i love you all and i hope you are having a good last day on this 2024 year.
