Ahh the age-old question of snake-face vs. gratuitously hot Voldemort...it's a good question! Honestly, I'm not super committed on that yet. I guess it depends where the story takes us, and if there's a good narrative reason for a physical transformation. I personally like both or even some combination...I like the idea of Harry falling for V regardless of his form, and I also know canonically Harry thinks Tom Riddle is super hot lol, and I like Harry to have nice things (eventually) 😂. So whatever direction it ends up going, Harry will be happy with it!

I felt true, visceral fear today after I returned from work and discovered that my Huion monitor tablet wouldn't connect to my laptop. I knew that bitch was all powered up and screaming but blue-balling me with only pitch-black darkness.

I shut off and restarted my laptop 5 fucking times, rammed the usb cables in and out of my laptop's usb ports, in and out... I never thought that an expensive device - wasted for just watching funny cat videos and enabling me to draw the shapely but scaly butt of Voldemort - could be violated. I apologise if this is a strange or ‘obvious’ question, but I’m new to the whole Harry/Voldemort shipping, and I’ve always wondered if when people write (or you, in particular) for the two, especially in ‘romantically intense’ scenes, do they have the white, cadaverous, reptilian creature in mind (sorry if this sounds rather mean! I didn’t know how else to phrase it!) or the human Tom Riddle?

Hello! Not a strange question at all - I think it's one every tomarry / harrymort shipper asks themselves eventually 😂 (and it's not mean! I call that version of Voldemort 'snakeface' sooooo)

Personally, I tend to write human-looking Voldemort, but people have different preferences when it comes to this ship. Some prefer human-Voldemort, some prefer snakeface-Voldemort. It really depends on what the author wants to write.

Most stories I've read that have snakeface-Voldemort in it are very good at describing his features, since the otherness of him in that state is usually a central part of the relationship / themes of the plot.

There are plenty of tags on AO3 for 'Handsome Voldemort', 'Human Voldemort', 'Snake-like Voldemort', 'Gratuitously Hot Voldemort' etc. if you want to find a specific kind of Voldemort.

But yeah, for me, it's almost always going to be human-looking Voldemort. If it's not, I'll make sure to make it clear through my writing that it's the snakey version 😉

Minidraken’s Voldemort is the epitome of cunning and manipulation – this is a dark lord that gathers followers like flies to honey, capable of talking even a staunch Dumbledore supporter into taking the Dark Mark. Manages to be likable even as he is cruel.

Featuring: A gratuitously hot Voldemort who is – for his own, self-serving reasons, of course – trying to act the mentor to an innocent, kind Harry, who’s in turn quite distressed about all this. Can your parents’ killer also be a father figure?

Featuring: Harry channeling his inner Ravenclaw and hitting the books, desperate Occlumency, dubious Slytherin friendships, and the increasingly-threatening attention of one of the most suspenseful depictions of Voldemort I’ve read in a fic. Seriously, by the latest chapter, I break out in a sweat whenever Voldemort is mentioned – much like Harry.

The Unwinding Golden Thread by The_Carnivorous_Muffin

Something goes awry during the battle in the Department of Mysteries, and Harry finds himself in the 1940s, before Tom Riddle opens the Chamber of Secrets. Harry has to stop that, of course; he can’t just do nothing! (It’s too bad that, in the 1940s, the wizarding world is facing a much bigger threat than a basilisk in the pipes. It’s too bad just a few small actions can derail the course of history.)

Featuring: Freedom fighter!Tom, aka the Best Tom There Is. Just because they’re fighting a war together doesn’t mean he and Harry are friends, okay? He will become immortal, damn it all to hell.

Legilimency for Dummies by duplicity

Young Tom Riddle can hear the thoughts of the people around him – the lies, the truth, the insults, the pity – and that’s perfectly normal. Everyone else is just stupid.

A cute, humorous, heartbreaking one-shot in which Tom is a passive Legilimens, and what this leads to. Fits quite nicely into canon.

Featuring: A seven year-old Tom Riddle who has one (1) friend, and it’s a snake who sticks around for two reasons: 1) body heat, and 2) enabling little Tom’s dastardly plots – yes, in that order.

The All Seeing Eye Glass by seacaptain

Harry finds himself in the past and stops caring. People draw their own conclusions, including one student Tom Riddle – which gives Harry some unique challenges and opportunities when he decides to mess with the timeline.

Comedy! Drama! Deception! My favorite Tomarry slash fic. It’s not often that a fic manages to wrangle a healthy romantic relationship from this pairing while keeping both Harry and Tom largely in character. But the relationship develops slowly and realistically, and the flash-forwards paint a heartfelt picture that rings true. I laughed, I cried literal tears, I can’t recommend it enough.

Featuring: Perfect student Tom Riddle realizing he can be a right asshole to Harry with little to no consequences and thoroughly enjoying it. Oh, and catching feelings on the way.
