AU - Ra's al Ghul being a grandfather to all of the Wayne kids
During their ongoing petty battles, Tim makes the mistake of calling Ra's "grandpa" as an insult. He meant it as a term to call the man old.
Ra's did not take it this way.
After being called "grandpa" by his rival/desired heir (pt. 3), he starts to wonder if all of Bruce's kids consider him to be their grandfather (they do not).
Cue Ra's al Ghul picking up grandparent guidebooks and trying to implement the advice. Because he's so out of touch with reality and society (he's a 600 year old assassin cult leader), he doesn't implement them correctly.
His go to method for hangouts with any of the Wayne kids is kidnapping. They don't know he's just trying to spend time with them. There's a ton of miscommunication.
Ra's quickly learns that if he has grandfather-grandchild time with Damian by himself, the Waynes.... overreact (they're not overreacting. They think Ra's is kidnapping Damian for some nefarious plot). Ra's then starts kidnapping Damian with one of his siblings for group hangouts.
He also will have grandfather-grandchildren days when Talia visits Bruce. He wants them to be able to spend time without the kids interrupting (even if the kids are in another country from Bruce, Ra's still kidnap them. Talia is also going to Bruce to beat him up for Damian instead of a date. Ra's thinks it's just their relationship dynamic).
The old man also spends a lot of time debating what makes someone a Wayne kid. Bruce's adoption habit makes this needlessly more difficult. He eventually lands on only considering those Damian claims as his siblings as his grandchildren.
It gets to the point that Ra's al Ghul even starts lecturing Bruce when he's being an ass to the grandkids.
How Ra's spoils his grandkids:
Damian - Ra's sets up a bunch of animal sanctuaries around the world. He takes the kid to all of them and seriously implements all of his ideas. He also sends him expensive, rare art supplies that can double as weapons (Damian thought the paints doubling as poison were fun to use).
Jason - The Outlaws get access to a bunch of weapons and gear. He also occasionally provides assistance or information.
Tim - Ra's doesn't do anything different. They already "hang out" a ton when Tim is in a petty and vindictive mood (Tim tries to fuck up Ra's day and the ancient bastard sees it as a bonding activity).
Cass - Ra's, after seeing that Cass sometimes experiences issues communicating with civilians, starts funding organizations that increase accessibility. He also attends every single recital she has.
Duke - Ra's provides access to his research material so that Duke might be able to find a way to help his parents. He also buys him really expensive glasses and blackout curtains to help with his migraines
Steph - The old man will gift wrap people who were shitty to Steph so that she can beat them up or get revenge. Her many hobbies (gaming, gymnastics, music, etc.) get funded as well.
Dick - Ra's either kidnaps Dick with a sibling he hasn't seen for a bit (allowing Dick to have quality time), or he'll enforce self care days for the acrobat.
Barbara - She is helped by the same organizations that help Cass, but Ra's usually just provides her with information the Birds of Prey can use.

sev I finished the 2.5 story recently and when yanqing remembered his duel with jingliu and used that to beat hoolay all I could think about was ur jingliu x reader series and reader being proud of her grandchild but also being wistful and sad and shit maybe recognizing the move he used to win and thinking about her wife 😭
first off anon i’d like to say it is actually so crazy that u rmb that fic……….. it’s so old and for it to stay in ur mind like that ,,,,,, anonnie what if i cried tears of appreciation 🥺🥺🥺 but me being soggy aside, yes !!! wife!mc would be so proud of yanqing, if she was part of the crowd (unlikely, but if she was) then seeing the move he did would genuinely bring her to tears. it’s not only the echo of jingliu in yanqing, but the fact that yanqing has now taken a huge step in fulfilling his dream of being sword champion, just like jingliu was. she definitely sees a lot of jingliu in yanqing, but just as how yanqing is learning to be more than just a lieutenant to jing yuan, i think wife!mc is also starting to see him more as himself as well.
HOWEVER. that being said. she is also going to worry herself sick fretting over yanqing at the end of it all, making sure he’s not injured and all in one piece. AND THEN, she’s immediately looking for feixiao to give her a flick on her ear for the absolutely batshit stunt she pulled and endangering yanqing, yunli and march in the process. she’d understand why, but still. and feixiao for the first time will know fear when wife!mc shows up, slipper in hand, and yanqing has to bodily pull his grandma back from beating the yaoqing general’s ass. hell hath no fury like a grandma nearly watching her grandson get pummeled, ig LMAO
also! wife!mc definitely goes out for tea with general huaiyan, and brings yanqing and yunli along as well. they do grandparents things together while yanqing and yunli bicker about swords. truly xianzhou bonding <333

In your next gen Encanto au, who gets along with who the best and why?
(Between the cousins, their parents and grandparents or whatever you'd like to do).
Decided to format it where I say their friend group, their "favorite" kid/grandkid/sibling/cousin.
Of course, by "favorite" I mean "person they get along with best/ spend the most time with" but that's long and complicated to say.
No one actually has "favorites" is what I'm trying to say (except for a few of them lol)
Alma: She hangs out with the other elders of the village, including Señora Guzmán. Once Raimi and his side of the family get introduced into the Encanto, she also spends a lot of time with them. Out of her kids, Bruno is the favorite, no question. She spends a lot of time making amends with him. Similarly, her favorite grandkid is now Mirabel. Great-grandkid wise, I'd say her favorite is either Zoe or Mariana.
Julieta: She has a handful of friends in the village, but she seems like the type of person to focus on having a small circle of close friends, rather than a lot. She's close with Augustín's mother, but not so much his father (they have a terse relationship). She claims not to have a favorite child, but like...it's Mirabel, come on. She also claims to not have a favorite grandchild, but she and Fuega bond over cooking.
Pepa: Pepa has a lot of friends from the village, including Félix's brother, Gabriel. Her favorite child is Camilo (he's a mama's boy) and she's...less subtle about it than Julieta is. Her favorite grandchild is easily her "twin" Leta, the first grandbaby, no matter how many heart attacks she gives her.
Bruno: Bruno slowly but surely acquires a small friend group upon his return (mainly with Pepa and Julieta's help). It's only about four or five people (which includes both Amelia and Sofía's crushes' parents), which is just fine by him. He also claims not to have a favorite child, but he empathizes with Sofía a lot.
Augustín: He's kind of a nerd, and so doesn't have many friends outside of the Madrigals. He mainly spends time with Julieta and her friend group. He doesn't have a favorite child, he loves his girls equally, but his favorite grandchild is probably Lidia. He likes her sass, okay?
Félix: He's very popular among the townsfolk, and has more friends than even Pepa. His favorite child is Dolores, but the only two people who know are Pepa and Mariano (because he threatened Mariano with death if he ever hurt his baby girl). His favorite grandchild is José. They have the same personality.
Isabela: She has many friends around the village, including Maria (Fuega's mom) and Lili. Most of them were made either after she dropped her "Señorita Perfecta" persona, or from before she felt pressured to be perfect. Her favorite parent is actually Augustín, and her favorite sibling is probably Mirabel, let's be real. Her favorite cousin is Dolores (I would DIE for their friendship). She actually doesn't have a favorite of her girls, not even a secret one.
Dolores: Poor Dolores doesn't have many friends. It's hard for her to be social with her gift, and she's gained a reputation for being a snitch. She is close with Mariano's sisters and brothers, though. Her favorite parent is Félix, and her favorite sibling is Antonio (Camilo's not offended, as Antonio is also his favorite sibling). Her favorite cousin is Isa. Her favorite kid is Andrés, and she is not subtle about it.
Luisa: She never really had a lot of time for friends pre-Encanto movie, so all of her friends were made post-Encanto. She's kind of socially awkward, like her dad, so she doesn't have a lot of them. Her favorite parent is Augustín (I loved their few interactions in canon) but she refuses to have a favorite sibling. Her favorite cousin is Antonio though. Her favorite child is Zoe, just because she gives her less heart attacks than the twins.
Camilo: He had tons of friends pre-Encanto, but lost quite a few of them when he started using his gift less. He made some more (including his future husband) when the city joined the village, though. His favorite parent is Pepa (Mama's boy Camilo is sacred to me). His favorite sibling is Antonio, and his favorite cousin is Mirabel. Everyone thinks that Camilo's favorite kid would be José or Héctor, but it's actually Hugo.
Mirabel: She has a little friend group, mainly consisting of the older siblings of the Encanto's children and Mariano's family. Her favorite parent is Julieta, favorite sibling is Isabela (now, anyway) and her favorite cousin is obviously Antonio (cue offended Camilo noises). She tries not to have favorites, but she can't help but sympathize with Óscar.
Antonio: He's friends with Little Alejandra, Juancho, Cecilia, and some of the other kids in town. His favorite parent is Félix, but he doesn't have favorite siblings. His favorite cousin is Mirabel.
For the next gen, I already put who they like best from each generation in their profiles, so I just copied those from them. (because I got lazy)
Miranda: She is very popular with the Encanto's kids, as she likes to babysit them. Her favorite parent is Alejandra, just because she knows how much she's sacrificed for her. She doesn't have a favorite sibling, she loves Amelia and Sofia equally. Her favorite cousin is Antonio, over their shared love of animals, and her favorite second cousin is Héctor, because he always sticks to her while they do their chores.
Amelia: She has many, many friends in the village, including her girlfriend, Rosana. She doesn't have a favorite parent, but Miranda is her favorite sister. Her favorite cousin is Camilo, due to their shared love of performing, and her favorite second cousin is Princesa, because they both are more girly.
Sofía: She doesn't have many friends due to her gift, but she hangs out with her crush, Tristán, and his little friend group. Her favorite parent is Bruno, since they're so similar, and her favorite sister is Miranda, since she doesn't think Amelia likes her very much. Her favorite cousin is Dolores, as they like to be quiet together. Her favorite second cousin is Óscar, as they like to bitch to each other all the time.
Princesa: She is very popular in the Encanto, mainly due to her gift, which makes a lot of her 'friends' flaky, at best. Her favorite sister is Mariana, due to her being afraid of Fuega. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Mirabel, over their shared love of sewing and embrodery, and her favorite cousin is Beatriz, because they like to gossip to each other.
Fuega: She doesn't have many friends, mainly due to her gift. She does hang out with Felicidad and her friends, though. Her favorite sister is Mariana, due to Princesa being afraid of her. Her favorite pf the grandkid generation is Luisa, because she's tough and Fuega isn't afraid to burn her, and her favorite cousin is Andrés, because he helped her and Felicidad get together.
Mariana: She is popular in the Encanto, mainly with the younger kids. She doesn't have a favorite sister, she loves them both equally. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Mirabel, because they are VERY much alike, and her favorite cousin is Rómulo, because they like to do crazy stunts with their powers together.
Leta: She is popular in the Encanto, in part due to her gift. She doesn't have a favorite sibling, though many would argue that it's Carlos. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Luisa, because they are VERY much alike, and her favorite cousin is Lidia, because they like to wrestle and be idiots together.
Andrés: He has almost zero friends, due to his shyness. His favorite sibling(s) is the twins, just because they're so cute. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, due to their shared quietness, and his favorite cousin is Fuega, mainly because they just match well. Firey anger and quiet shyness.
Carlos: As the resident black market dealer, he is very, very, very popular in the Encanto, especially with the younger kids. His favorite sibling is easily Leta, though the twins are a close second. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Camilo, because. Obviously, and his favorite cousin is José, because they're like two peas in a pod, despite the age difference.
Avila: She is mildly popular in the Encanto, despite her odd gift. Her favorite sibling is Carlos, because he gives her free stuff. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, because ANIMALS, and her favorite cousin is Héctor, because they like to play futbol together.
Amada: She is pretty popular in the Encanto, along with her twin. Her favorite sibling is Carlos, because he gives her free stuff. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, because FLOWERS, and her favorite cousin is Tomás, because they like to watch each other do tricks with their powers.
Tomás: He is pretty popular in the Encanto, along with his twin. His favorite sibling is Zoe, because he and Rómulo are both in agreement that she is their favorite. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, since he likes all her weird plants, and his favorite cousin is José, because they both like playing mind games (of a different kind, but still)
Rómulo: He is pretty popular in the Encanto, along with his twin. His favorite sibling is Zoe, because he and Tomás are both in agreement that she is their favorite. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, since he lets Parce and the other big cats race him, and his favorite cousin is Mariana, because they like to do crazy stunts with their powers together.
Zoe: She doesn't have many friends, mainly due to her gift. She doesn't have a favorite between her brothers. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, because she loves her bright dresses and plants, and her favorite cousin is Hugo, because of all his buggy friends.
Hugo: He doesn't have many friends, mainly due to autism. He doesn't have a favorite between his brothers (it's Héctor). His favorite of the grandkid generation is Dolores, because they're both quiet, and his favorite cousin is Zoe, because she is adorable.
José: He is unpopular with adults, but popular with the kids. He doesn't actually have a favorite of his brothers. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Isabela, because she kinda sorta encourages his gambling, and his favorite cousin is Carlos, because they're like two peas in a pod, despite the age difference.
Héctor: He is pretty popular in the Encanto, mainly because of his gift. His favorite sibling is Hugo, because he looks up to him. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Antonio, since their gifts are similar, and his favorite cousin is Miranda, because she acts so kind and motherly to him.
Óscar: He has almost zero friends, due to his scary gift. He doesn't have a favorite of his sisters, he loves them both. His favorite of the grandkid generation is Dolores, due to their shared...odd quirks, and his favorite cousin is Sofía, because they like to bitch to each other. He acts more like a protective older brother to Sofía.
Beatriz: She is mildly popular in the Encanto, but her gift stops her from being truly liked. She has no favorite sibling (for real). Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Dolores, because their gifts and the reaction their gifts get are similar, and her favorite cousin is Amelia, because they like to dance and sing together.
Lidia: She is pretty popular in the Encanto, although some of the adults are nervous at her behavior. Her favorite sibling is Óscar, and Beatriz is slightly bitter about it. Her favorite of the grandkid generation is Luisa, because they both act tough, and her favorite cousin is Leta, because they like to wrestle and be idiots together.

Day 7
grandparent-grandchild bonding

Note
I've been seeing this ever since the new episode came out, but I love that people are associating the relationship between Kinger and Pomni, which is something of a grandfather and granddaughter rather than father and daughter.
It's a nice little difference since we don't usually have those types of surrogate grandparent & grandchild bonds in media nowadays unless they were actually related. Even then, we don't see much of it.
Yeah, it's nice to see. I definitely felt that fatherly/grandfather energy from him ever since he was talking to Ragatha in episode 2 and how he remembered how she was adjusting to the circus, even more in episode 3 with him talking with Ponmi.
Idk if it’s his voice or just the lines he is saying, but there's something comforting about it when he's is able to stay sane for a bit of time.

Series masterlist
Jumping forward in time for this part. Rhaenyra is Queen, Reader is her Consort and they're now grandparents. Elaena is Jace and Baela's oldest child. Reader is mentioned as having dark purple eyes. Bold italics mean High Valyrian.
Reader every time his children or grandchildren do anything:
Tumblr media
You were at a loss on what to do.
After breaking your fast together, Rhaenyra had left to hear petitions from the smallfolk with Visenya and Aemma accompanying her, but the thought of being stuck inside made you feel restless.
There was no Small Council meeting scheduled and, although there was a lot of work in your office and letters to answer, you didn't feel like doing so just yet.
You knew Jace and Baela were holding their own court, but you did not feel like joining them, although you would certainly be welcomed to by them.
Not even the thought of sparring with one of your sons lifted your mood, although you would endeavour to watch them if you could.
The weather was to blame; the sky was clear and free of clouds. The breeze drifting through the windows caressed your cheek and the stench of the city, usually overwhelming, was surprisingly mild today. You could feel Silverwing's eagerness for a flight through your bond. Her excitement aroused yours and you ordered your servant to dress you for a morning flight.
As you donned your riding leathers, you thought of another person who would enjoy a morning flight and decided to stop at the nursery along the way.
When you arrived, you spotted your oldest grandchild playing with her nurse. Elaena would normally be joined by her younger sister, but Rhaella had been sick with a cold for the last few days. Jace and Baela had been worried about their youngest child, but their fears had lessened as Rhaella had recovered.
Her nurse saw you first and scrambled to her feet to curtsey. Elaena turned around and her look of confusion turned into happiness. "Grandfather!"
She abandoned her toys and ran to you. You bent down to meet her in a hug. Her arms squeezed your neck as you stood up, holding her against your hip. Your granddaughter was tall for her age of five years. Soon she would be too big for you to carry her, but you relished the opportunity to hold her so for now.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, fiddling with the beads in your hair.
"I have come to free you from this prison," you said softly. You bit a smile back as your granddaughter's face lit up in joy. Her dark purple eyes, just like Jace's and yours, sparkled. You saw the nurse struggle to hide her own smile.
"Can we go flying?" she asked. A child after your own heart.
"Of course!" you exclaimed. "Silverwing is eager to go flying this morning. How do you feel about joining us?"
Elaena's excited squeal threatened to damage your hearing and the little girl's arms wrapped around your neck tightly as she smothered your face in kisses.
"If anyone asks where she is, tell them Princess Elaena is advising her grandfather on important matters of state," your serious tone was completely at odds with the gentle way your hand touched Elaena's hair and the smile on your face. "We are going to be at the Dragonpit."
The nurse smiled and curtsied as you left the nursery with the little girl chatting away in your ear.
~~~
Once you arrived at the Dragonpit, Silverwing quickly emerged from her cave as she sensed your presence. The Keepers had already saddled her, knowing of your love for flying and how often you visited them.
The she-dragon had been delighted to see you, greeting you with a roar before allowing you to embrace her neck and whisper welcoming words, despite the fact that it had only been two days since you last saw each other.
The air soon filled with her cooing when she spied your granddaughter standing behind you, bouncing in anticipation.
Elaena's impatience was rewarded when you helped her to climb into the saddle and the poor girl was nearly buzzing with excitement as you strapped both of you together.
Once you were in the sky, she was silent for the first time all morning, and you knew that her face was split into a wide grin that matched yours.
You spent ages in the sky soaring and swooping to your heart's content. Silverwing was showing off for your passenger and Elaena loved it. Your granddaughter's cradle egg had not hatched, although you didn't worry. You believed she would claim a dragon one day when she was older.
Despite being dragonless, she still frequently went flying with Baela and Jace. Rhaenyra had taken her on Syrax numerous times.
But Silverwing was her favourite dragon, a fact that you were very proud of and definitely didn't hold over Rhaenyra's head. Your darling granddaughter had excellent taste.
Eventually hunger pangs had gotten the better of you all and you returned to land.
"Thank you, my girl," you whispered to your dragon as you kissed her nose. "You are magnificent, just like always. I need to go back and feed this little hatchling, but I will see you later."
Silverwing gently nuzzled into you as she rumbled.
"Thank you Grandfather. Thank you Silverwing," Elaena said cheerfully as she patted your dragon, who snorted in response.
You watched as Silverwing slowly crept back to her nest. "We need to go back," you said. "I'm very hungry and I think you are too."
Elaena's stomach rumbled, confirming your suspicions and making you laugh. Embarrassed, she buried her face in your waist.
"Come sweetling," you coaxed her to hold your hand. "We will dine together. Hopefully the kitchens have something nice."
Your words caused her to look at you. "Can we have blueberry cake? And tarts? Please Grandfather?"
"Normally I would say no, but," you stopped talking when she pouted. "I suppose we may. Just this once."
"That's what you said last time," she beamed.
"I did," you replied, "but this time we won't stuff ourselves with cake and ruin our appetite."
Elaena giggled.
"And if anyone else comes, they can't have the blueberry cakes. They're for us," she said firmly.
What a clever girl. Westeros would be in very capable hands when she became Queen.
"Not even one?" you asked as you walked to the carriage that would bring you back to the Red Keep.
"No, Grandfather," she shook her head. Her tiny hand was completely engulfed in your much larger one. "Blueberry cakes are for me and you."
Only five years old and she was already accustomed to giving orders, like a Queen. What choice did you have but to obey?
Headcanons for being Scott and Hope’s child (Hank Jr. Edition)
Scott Lang/Hope van Dyne x child!reader
warnings:
a/n:
prompt: anonymous: “Scott and Hope have a baby girl (reader). And everything seems to be fine, but somewhere from the age of five, it becomes clear that the reader is a complete copy of her grandfather Hank Pym, that is: she is incredibly smart, she loves ants (she can talk about them for hours), she also has problems controlling anger (she hit a guy in the face at school for saying that ant-man sucks), thinks that there is no one smarter than her and her grandfather, and she also transferred his sarcastic communication style and views on things and people around, for example, when she first met Tony, she said: "You can never trust Stark."”
Tumblr media
somewhere in the distant future a special kid was born
and that special kid had special parents and special grandparents
and those parents and grandparents were two generations of superheroes who saved countless lives (and, well, the world)
so it was no surprise to them that this next generation would be just as intelligent and caring as the ones before them
*cue a toddler with crayons in class*
“and then my grandpa asked the ants nicely to fly him to a bunch of different places and do all these cool things like move stuff around and like do other stuff” -you rambling on
“do you like anything besides ants?” -your teacher
“no” -you, continuing to draw ants on your paper
hank and janet were quite proud grandparents
and scott and hope, your wonderful amazing parents…couldn’t get enough of it
“honey, what about wasps? wasps are cool, right?” -hope
“no” -you
“she’s spending too much time with my dad” -hope
“well, he’s the only babysitter we’ve got since cassie got that new job” -scott
“oh, you mean our old job? yeah, miss those days where we could go flying around getting into trouble and beating people up” -hope
“well, you promised we’d retire so y/n wouldn’t end up with a childhood like yours” -scott
“y/n’s gonna want to be a superhero when they get older, arent they?” -hope
“let’s not think too far ahead. it might kill me” -scott
scott reads you his biography every night before bed
and you always giggle at the parts where your mom and grandpa bully him
“hey, not funny!” -scott
“so funny” -you
“dont get any ideas” -scott
“daddy, are you gonna get arrested again?” -you
“if i do it’ll be grandpa hank’s fault” -scott
you continued spending time with grandpa hank and grandma janet
and they spoiled the crap out of you
hank…got you an ant farm
“now you’re just being ridiculous, hank” -janet
“what? i’m just having some bonding time with my grandchild! hope never wanted anything to do with me growing up” -hank
once you started getting older, you wanted to hang out in grandpa’s lab allll the time. day and night
your parents hated it
“hey, think this one will suck us all into the quantum realm?” -scott
“it was one time!” -cassie
cassie was at hank and janet’s a lot, too, actually. they always wanted to help her with her suits and gadgets and all that
and make sure she had plenty of pym particles
“you have enough, right? here, take some more, i have plenty” -hank
“grandpa, please, i have more than enough, thank you” -cassie
“can i have some pym particles?” -you
“we can play with them in the backyard next time youre over” -hank
you draw new suit designs for cassie all the time
some of them she actually incorporates into her suits
and as you get older, you try to start designing more tech for her
“y/n is really scaring me” -hope
“why?” -scott
“just watch her and my parents together…they’re the same” -hope
“dear god, what have we done” -scott
“dad, look at this new pym particle powered weapon, i just finished the prototype!” -you
“okay, now i’m mad because where was this when i needed it!” -scott
“fifteen to twenty years too late” -hope
“we should have gotten together sooner” -scott
“i disagree” -hope
“wow, not even a pity agreement” -scott
asking your parents if they’ll get back into crime fighting
they said no
asking if you can get into crime fighting
they said no again
so you just kinda stockpiled all your ideas
and did everything you could to further your grandpa’s work
and help your sister
and keep your parents’ minds at ease (doesn’t really work)
and maybe one day you’ll be able to ride those ants and kick some ass like you always dreamed
You were cheerfully woken by a knock at your door, “Young Snow, it is time for you to be up.”
You all but flung yourself out of bed and rushed to your closet. You opened it to reveal a very well made outfit. A suit jacket in your signature color, well mare pants and your golden tie, dyed gold and faint gold threads littered it.
As you got dressed, you thought about the victor, Finnick Odair. How awesome it must be! To be the youngest person to win. You knew you would never be allowed to compete, maybe that’s why you were so impressed with Finnick. A boy only a year older than you had accomplished something you could only dream.
While lost in thought, you hadn’t realized that your grandfather had entered the room. He walked up behind you and put both hands on your shoulders, making you jump slightly.
“Are you almost ready?” He asked.
“I just have the tie left.”
He smiled as he looked at you in the mirror, “You have grown so much. I remember when you had to be helped.”
You laughed lightly, “Grandfather, I still can’t tie a tie. Not like how you do.”
He moved his hands from your shoulder, “You will need to learn that. You are almost a man.”
Your smile fell slightly, he instantly picked up on that. “Watch me do it. I will show and tell you how to.”
He took a spot beside you in the mirror, undoing his tie, “Start with the wide end of the tie on the left and the small end on the right.” He then pointed at where the wide end fell, “The tip of the wide end should rest at the top of your belt buckle. Only move the small end.”
You followed his instructions and looked at him ever so often, making sure you had it positioned right.
“Small end over the wide end to the left. Under the wide end and to the right. Up to the center, towards neck loop.”
You were always impressed by your grandfathers many skills. He always tied his ties this way for ceremonies. You were becoming just like him!
“Through the neck loop and to the left. Across the front, to the right. Then up into the neck loop from underneath. Down to the left and around the back of the wide end to the right. Keep this part loose.”
You couldn’t remember a time when your grandfather hadn’t been around you. In every memory, he was there. You knew that he was getting older and he wanted you to take over for him. And you were happy to do so. Then you would teach your son or grandson like how he had done for you. Like a never ending chain of Snow.
“Bring it across the front towards the left and through the last loop we made. Pull the small end towards the left to tighten. Up to the center, towards neck loop. Down through the neck loop and to the left.”
We? You and him? Best friends, more than a simple bond between Grandparent and Grandchild. You told him everything and he listened to you. He taught you many things and you remembered them.
“Up to the center, towards neck loop. Down through the neck loop and to the right. Keep this part loose. Across the front towards the left and through the loop made in the previous step. Pull the small end towards the left to tighten.”
You were one and the same. You were his favorite, you knew it in your heart. You were his first grandchild and your mother loved you siblings more so it evened out. It was you and him.
“And finally, tuck the rest of the small end behind neck loop on the left side.”
You beamed as you looked at your tie, it was just like his.
————
You were exceptionally nervous as you looked out at all the people who had gathered for the victory ceremony. Once again, the comforting hand of your grandfather came to your shoulder. “You need to do this. It is very simple. You walk up to them, smile, congratulate them and place the crown on their head.”
You could feel your heartbeat increase as you looked at the crown on the velvet pillow, golden interlocking sections that intimidated you.
“Are you ready?” He asked you. You nodded.
With shaky hands, you stepped forward, smiling out to the crowd as they cheered. They knew who you were. The cheers mellowed out as you picked up the crown and held it in both of your hands.
One last deep breath escaped you as you turned and walked to the blonde that had been staring you down: the victor, Finnick Odair. Fourteen years old. Still a child in so many ways. A twinge of pity came to your heart, knowing what went on in the arena.
Everyone knew what he had done.
Finnick stared into your eyes, he saw warmth. Like that of a sweater. He thought you were an angel. You didn’t look like the rest of the Capital citizens, you had a clean face and muted toned clothes but you radiated kindness. You didn’t know him and he didn’t know you; but it felt like friendship.
“Finnick Odair,” you said, a smile dripping into your words, “Congratulations and Thank you.”
He leaned slightly forward and let you place the crown on his head. “Thank you.”
You nodded as you stepped out of the way as to let the crowd see the victor.
What would be the reaction of the parents if the MC said that they would be grandparents(will Salyra's reaction be different depending on the relationship with MC?) ? Or the younger sister, that she will be an aunt?
Salyra would be excited regardless of the MC's relationship with her. She's still holding hope that the MC will eventually forgive her. Time heals all wounds or so goes the saying 😅 She'd be a super devoted grandmother and would spoil her grandchild a lot.
Rana is happy to be an aunt, regardless of her relationship with the MC. She will keep her distance if the MC makes it clear that they don't want her to get too close to their child, but would find small ways to bond like getting them a gift.
Okay I'm sorry, but I literally can't wrap my head around the younger Gotham elites looking down on Jason at this point. Like, yes, Omegas always get the shaft. But ALSO
Jason's clearly a highly educated individual, can outwit everyone in the room, can speak 10+ languages, and apparently he's now an expert dancer at the slow foxtrot.
I'm just trying to imagine being a grandchild of one of those old elite Gotham families. The disapproval and scolding alone those snobby Alphas would be getting, I swear.
Jason is basically everything an old Gotham elite would want in a grandson-in-law. And to top it all off, he's a member of the Wayne Pack. Regardless of his origins, he's an unmated Omega from an old Gotham family and no one's jumping at the chance to try and win his favor?
Yeah, if I was one of those grandparents, I'd disown my Alpha grandkids holy crap
(omfg imagine being the grandparent to the Alpha that pulled the Bear Grylls thing, I'd disown myself)
It is an interesting dynamic. I suppose if we go off what I said in another ask (very dangerous, I am horribly inconsistent) then perhaps the younger generation is the way they are (and treated Bruce that way) because they don't remember what it was like in the older era? When packs were Packs and pack bonds were essential. Older, instinctual times with both a powerful alpha and a powerful omega at the helm.
The grandparents etc remember this time. Maybe they even long for it still. The younger generations don't know what it was like, and simply crave what the media tells them is important: a dominant alpha in power, with others bending to them.
