I’d go a step further and have Nana swan into the scene so she can bully Sorahiko about finally letting his sweet side shine in his old age, and to Hana and Tenko, they are definitively the Cool Grandparents (tm) because despite the ground rules of Kotaro’s house being Off-Limits to roughhousing, Sorahiko has zero qualms about scooting his grandchildren off his lap and tackling his partner (more recently, wife) of many years.

At this point, my hopes for the ending of MHA have been completely destroyed. I expected this but was still desperately hoping for something more.

I hate how some of the most abused characters in the series had depressing as fuck endings. Many fans saw that abuse and empathized with it. Saw themselves in the League of Villains and was hoping that, even if they were going to die, their deaths would have MEANING or at least given the time they deserved.

I hate the black and white thinking on morality and views of criminals and crime. That's one of the biggest gripes I have with this series. Life simply doesn't work that way. There's little to no nuance and it drives me crazy that Horikoshi portrayed it like that.

I hate that important characters didn't get the time/energy dedicated to their stories that they deserved and fans weren't given satisfying endings/closure that they needed. Why the fuck do we get to see Overhaul's closure and not Tomura's? Why the fuck do we get to see that stupid grandma get a chance at redemption but not Tomura's? Why the fuck did Horikoshi set up so many great parallels for Izuku and Tomura and drop so many hints at a better ending and yet they didn't get to talk or interact in a satisfying way AT ALL? And we're somehow told that he was saved off-screen by Nana Shimura? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

There is SO. MUCH. LOST. POTENTIAL in this series! The series is great but one of biggest issues I have is how Horikoshi fumbled the ending after all that we've been given. After the meaningless deaths, the hurt that so many characters suffered through, all the shitty character story line endings and lack of closure for important characters. Where is the change in society? How in the world is this series supposed to be about hope? Where's the hope???

Sorry, this is really ranty and is way more than I'd complain otherwise, I do love this series a lot and that's why I'm so upset. It's genuinely kinda shocking that such a wonderful and beloved story gets such a terrible ending. But that's what fanfiction is for and that's the only saving grace I'm feeling right now. I'm so freaking sad. 😭😭😭

NANA SHIMURA! Who by virtue of being All Might's master/mother figure, is technically Izuku's adopted grandma. (The adopted side of her family turned way better then her biological ones did)

Trying to make a timeline of what All Might was doing while Tomura was with AFO to prove how cruel AFO was by hiding the last relative of Nana Shimura as his secret weapon.

For 15 years!!! All Might fought AFO without a clue. For 15 years All Might was so close to AFO and in turn so close to Tomura, but he couldn't even imagine. Do you think I shouldn't count the 5 years after the fight that almost killed both AFO and All Might? Okay, then a decade.

A decade of All Might's prime. A decade of All Might flying all across the world, maybe he even flew with Nana's quirk over Tomura.

When Toshinori met Nana, they both bonded over their families being dead! Nana considered Kotaro as dead to protect him, but AFO went and did the worst to her grandchild. AFO did to Tenko what was done to Toshinori, Nana's biggest fear: AFO allowed the Shimuras to get killed, leaving only one survivor.

Do you even get it? I bet little Tenko would have loved to hear that All Might was born quirkless too! That it was his grandma who taught him and gave him a quirk. That Nana tried to protect them and that she was dead because she protected the great All Might too.

AFO really found a way to maximize everyone's pain... He's really a master when it comes to evil.

Tenko Shimura Quirk (Theory)

Ok, so it's been confirmed that Tenko/Tomura originally did have a quirk - AFO just swiped it from him the moment he was born. But we do not currently know what that quirk exactly was.

So, before we begin, here are a few things to keep in mind: We do not know what quirk (if any) his mom or her side of the family had. And we do not know what quirk his sister got either (we know she got one by the time Tenko was born and it's partially why AFO never used her for his plans). So this speculation is solely based on Nana Shimura's quirk, as she is the grandma and we know she had 'Float'. And for now, we'll just assume his mom's side is all quirkless.

Now let's get onto my speculation of his quirk. <3

We know what Float does - it allows the person to literally float in air, though only to a certain degree. We don't know the exact range or how long it can work (or even the side effects of using it), but I assume it's similar to Ochako's 'Gravity' and causes a sense of nausea within the user. And it seems to work from whatever height they're currently at, so they need to get a good head start if they want to float from the height of something like a building.

So, from this, Tenko could've had the exact same quirk. And his personality is very similar to Nana's, right down to wanting to be a hero. But, I feel like his quirk would still be unique to him.

With the little info we have now, I theorize that his quirk would be something similar to Odd Thomas' ability. Basically, he'd be like a magnet - attracting and polarizing other objects/entities, especially if he's looking for said object/person. Which would be really cool, it'd make him super powerful especially as a Rescue Hero.

Me thinks AFO should've stayed with the Shimura's until All Might gave up looking for him and then spend time helping raise the kids until it was time to strike once more.

I assign that timeline Psychological Horror Domestic Drama vibes, the likes of which were infamous during Breaking Bad’s airing (i have never seen brba, but I’ve seen that comic where Walter White and his wife are rendered so realistically it’s scary). Like forget the fact that AFO’s telling Kotarou to take a firmer hand with disciplining his kids. AFO is the one who catches Hana showing Tenko the picture of Grandma Nana, and he SAYS he’ll keep it on the low-down (he takes the picture), but then at dinner he oh so casually SELLS TENKO OUT by ‘trying’ to sneak the picture back. And when Kotarou sees it, he goes livid towards EVERYONE, including AFO, which is largely the reason why Tenko latches onto him 10x more after the house and family are dusted.

Okay for a new au we could have Izuku having Nana's quirk! Like AFO tries to take it, but it disappears because a little boy who was about to be born was going to need a quirk.

Stealing this concept but editorializing a fair bit because I read the first line and instantly had an idea - Shimura!Izuku, the only survivor of Tenko's quirk manifestation other than Tenko himself. He's all but a newborn, found near death 2 days later and rushed to the hospital with no surviving relatives. It's Gran Torino who gets contacted - Gran in still listed as an emergency contact on some very old paperwork of Kotaro's that should have been destroyed years ago.

He really, really shouldn't take Izuku in. He's in his late 50s and Izuku is barely 2 months old. There's no guarantee he'll even live to see the boy's high school graduation. But - but this is the only piece of Nana he can have, after he chased off her son successor with the brutal training he needed to live. Little Izuku is just as alone as he is.

He's granted custody quickly - the closest thing to next of kin the boy has and a hero to boot.

Izuku grows up not knowing much of his direct family, but hearing countless stories of his grandma and his Uncle Yagi. He grows up loved, strong and kind of snarky, with a quirk that should have been weak but one he trained with his grandpa to be a forced to be reckoned with.
