This was supposed to just be a rough sketch, but then I started getting really invested in it.
I hadn't initially intended to include so many picture book characters, but the nostalgia was overwhelming. Does anyone remember the animated short films produced by Weston Woods? My local library used to have a bunch of them on the Scholastic VHS tapes from the late 90s. (I know some shorts were released on the Children's Circle VHS tapes back in the 80s (🎶 Come on along! Come on along! Join the caravan!), and some were packaged in Sammy's Story Shop in 2008.)
Characters:
Max, from Where the Wild Things Are, written and illustrated by Maurice Sendak
Peter, from The Snowy Day, written and illustrated by Ezra Jack Keats
Brother Bear and Sister Bear, from The Berenstain Bears series, written and illustrated by Stan and Jan Berenstain
Pooh and Piglet, from the Winnie-the-Pooh books, by A. A. Milne, illustrated by E. H. Shepard
Owen, from Owen, written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes.
Mouse, from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, by Laura Joffe Numeroff, illustrated by Felicia Bond
Louis, from The Trumpet of the Swan, by E. B. White
Mr. Toad, from The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame, based on the illustrations by E. H. Shepard
Mr. Tumnus, from The Chronicles of Narnia series, by C. S. Lewis
Pippi and Mr. Nilsson, from the Pippi Longstocking books, by Astrid Lindgren
Willy Wonka, from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, by Roald Dahl, based on the illustrations by Quentin Blake
Matilda, from Matilda, by Roald Dahl, based on the illustrations by Quentin Blake (with an homage to the Mara Wilson movie)
Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, from Peter Pan, by J. M. Barrie
Merlin and Archimedes, from The Sword in the Stone, by T. H. White, based on the illustrations by Dennis Nolan
Pinocchio, from Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi, based on the illustrations by Enrico Mazzanti
Alice, White Rabbit, and Cheshire Cat, from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, illustrated by John Tenniel
Rupert Bear, from the Rupert stories, created by Mary Tourtel and continued by Alfred Bestall, John Harrold, Stuart Trotter, and others.
Arthur Read, from the Arthur series, written and illustrated by Marc Brown
Tin Woodman and Scarecrow, from the Land of Oz series, by L. Frank Baum, based on the illustrations by W. W. Denslow and John R. Neill
The Cat in the Hat, from The Cat in the Hat, written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss

“morning after”
eddie roundtree x fem!reader
part 2 to “driving me crazy”
little drabble but still fun
request by: @beckinator7
Tumblr media
When you entered the kitchen that morning, Karen was already having breakfast at the table. You opened the fridge and ran a tired hand over your face while deciding what to eat.
She eyed your attire suspiciously. Boxers and a large t-shirt. “Sleep well?” she asked.
“Oh, yeah,” you said, taking a loaf of bread from the fridge and sticking two slices in the toaster.
Of course, Karen knew what happened the night before, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a little fun with it. “So, whose clothes are those?”
“Mine,” you lied, keeping your back faced to her so she couldn’t see your face.
“You like Bay City Rollers and wearing men’s boxers?”
The toast popped out and you grabbed it hastily. “Jeez, that’s hot,” you said, purposely ignoring the question.
“You know, I have a distinct memory of you saying you hate Bay City Rollers. Funny thing about that, I also remember Eddie wearing that shirt while you yelled at him about it.”
“Well, maybe his laundry got mixed with mine in the wash.” You didn’t look at her, focused on buttering your toast.
She took a bite of her muffin. “Either that or you’re screwing him.”
You set the knife down and stared at her. “Jesus, Karen. We are at the breakfast table.”
She shrugged. “I think it’s important for us women to be open and comfortable with our sexualities.”
“I’m. . .comfortable. In other settings.” You took a nervous bite of toast.
“I also think it’s important to acknowledge that you didn’t deny that you’re screwing him.” She hid her laugh behind her coffee mug as you grimaced.
Eddie walked in just in time and stood behind Karen’s chair. “You’re screwing someone and I didn’t know?” His mouth curved into a teasing cheshire grin that only you could see.
He circled the table and brushed your shoulders with his hands as he slid behind your chair. An awkward silence overtook the room. Karen pressed her hand to her mouth to stop herself from laughing. You gestured for her to cut it out, but her body continued to shake with silent laughter.
Eddie looked over his shoulder from the pantry with one eyebrow raised. “You girls don’t have to stop talking now that I’m here.”
That was the breaking point. Karen bursted out in a hysterical fit of laughter while you covered your face with your hands, shaking your head in embarrassment.
Eddie stifled his laugh while pouring himself a bowl of cereal. He sat in the chair next to you. You peeked through your fingers and caught the proud look on his face. He thought this was so funny.
“Good morning, ladies,” Warren said cheerily as he strode into the room, Graham following close behind.
Graham nudged Eddie as he walked past him. “Fun night?” He smirked at him while pouring himself a cup of coffee.
“Yeah, actually,” he replied, glancing at you with a sly smile.
Your face was feeling wildly hot with more people in the room commenting on your sex life. If there’s one thing you learned from this, it was to be quiet next time, or never do it in this house.
It didn’t help that Eddie wasn’t the slightest bit embarrassed about this. He was cocky, really. When he looked at you, his smile suggested that you were doing something secret when, in reality, everyone was aware.
“Woah, Y/n. What’s that big ugly thing on your neck?” Warren said, sitting on your other side.
Your head jerked up in alarm. “What?”
Graham craned his neck to get a better look. “Actually, it looks like there’s more than one.” He snickered. Karen snorted and covered her mouth immediately.
“That’s real interesting, Y/n,” Warren said, feigning innocence. “Maybe you should get that checked out.” His laugh broke out mid sentence and caused a chain reaction of laughter from Graham and Karen.
Your face was hot to the touch. Eddie was laughing under his breath. “Would you stop? I’m gonna kill all of you.”
“Pretty sure you’ve said that to me before.” Eddie attempted to suppress his laugh while looking at you. “And obviously that didn’t happen.”
Karen slapped a hand on the table, full on cackling. You smacked Eddie’s shoulder and cursed at him. “I actually hate you.”
Warren was doing a mix of laughing and coughing. “Bet that’s not what you said last night.”
You gaped at him. “Oh, my God, Warren. There’s something wrong with you.”
“Y/n and Eddie sitting in a tree,” Graham sang.
“Shut up!” You pressed your head into your hands again, desperately trying to ignore the unanimous laughter throughout the room.

spence-tober: day 18 - archaeologist

Tumblr media
From where you’re sitting on the famous Graham Norton’s couch, you can’t really see the stage audience, not with all the bright studio lights surrounding you on the set. But you don’t mind, it wasn’t like it was your first rodeo being on a talk show.
After all, you were a highly decorated actress having made your start when you were just a teen in indie films and then graduating to a TV show that ran for several seasons and then starring in blockbuster after blockbuster.
You’ve loved acting ever since your first theater class in high school and decided to try your shot right after you graduated. Since then, you’ve starred and dabbled in a lot of shows, movies, and other. It was only a few years ago when you had decided to accept a lot less roles than you usually would and be more picky, wanting to get an online degree and enjoy your young adult life.
Since your small break from acting, you’ve completed an online degree, learned some new hobbies, and did some small renovations on your house. You were already well off from box office backpoints, residuals, and contractual salaries and under your belt already you had a Tony, an Oscar, and two Emmy’s. You cooled down your ambition and worked on yourself.
Until that is, you got an interesting email in your inbox one day coming from one of the first directors that gave you a chance in the industry. In the indie film you had worked on together, both the director and you had risen to a small level of stardom and had been able to take on a lot more work after the film had released. You had bumped into each other a few times in the rest of your careers, but this time, they was reaching out for a role they thought you were perfect for and might be interested in.
It was a role to play an archaeologist in a historical film loosely based on a true story. You accepted the role and officially ended your small break in your acting career. Although you had taken on a few more roles here and there since finishing the shooting for the film, this was your first time back on a talk show to promote something you worked on.
“How is everyone feeling tonight?” Graham said, greeting all of you on the couch.
It was the director, yourself, and a few of your castmates. In your small break from acting, you found yourself valuing comfort over fashion more and more and so you sit dressed in a comfortable lose fit dress. It’s still designer and very expensive, but you’ve paired it with a sensible pair of black wedge heels and simple jewelry from your own personal collection.
The rest of the couch gives their answers first before Graham looks to you, “I’m really good, thanks.” You say.
To you, it seems like a generic answer and in fact, if it was anyone other than you, Graham would move on, but he gets a sly playful smile on his face and you just know what he’s going to do.
“Really good?” Graham repeats, “That wouldn’t have to do with who’s here tonight with you, would it?”
You blush under the teasing gazes of your castmates and Graham.
“I’m not sure I know what you mean.” You say unconvincingly.
He grins and then gestures his hand to behind him, pointing at a random wall of the set, “Are you sure? Because I could have sworn there was someone waiting for you back in the green room.”
You smile and shake your head, you just knew Graham was going to pull something like this. How could he not? It was the leading story of gossip sites, twitter, and tumblr for days on end when the news broke.
“Oh, do you mean my boyfriend?” A cheshire-like grin grows on your face and your face burns even more when the studio audience cheers at your last word.
Graham nods, loving the applause and cheers, “Didn’t you meet him on set?”
Before you can answer, your director/friend decides to pipe in, “I hired him to work on set and then I come to find out he’s actually slacking off with her!” He jokes, pointing your way.
You scoff with a smile on your face, “Oh please, you played matchmaker all the time!” Your castmates nod in agreement.
What Graham has decided to bring up is your newly public relationship which bloomed when you were filming on set for the movie. Because of the large historical and archaeological background of many of the characters and how it caters to the main plot of the movie, several consultants were hired to bring some validity and realism.
One of those was Dr. Spencer Reid, a professor on a short sabbatical from teaching archaeology. His job was to consult on the actions of the characters and help teach some of the actors and actresses who’s characters have a background in archaeology some tips and how to be more natural in the motions.
Your character has a large archaeological background and had the most scenes where you were seemingly handling fossils or excavating them.
That’s how you met Spencer and after spending months together, working together, seeing each other every single day on location, crushes on both sides formed.
“Guilty!” Your director exclaimed, holding his hands up as if he was caught.
The room laughs again. “But you admit you were distracting him from his job?” Graham prods, playfully.
You shrug, a smirk on your face, “You could say he was distracting me from mine.” You counter.
“Okay, okay.” Graham says, jokingly backing down.
He moves onto your other classmates with fun anecdotes about them for most of the rest of the interview. But then, as the interview goes to close out and nothing too eventful has happened, you knew he was saving that Graham Norton mischief just for you.
“Circling back,” Graham says, making direct eye contact with you.
You groan in fake annoyance, a knowing smile on your lips.
“Oh come on,” Graham replies with a chuckle, “You didn’t think I was going to let you off that easily, did you?”
Shaking your head, you wait for Graham to go on.
“Well, I thought that we shouldn’t waste this opportunity, so I asked your dear boyfriend to join us during the break.”
He turns to the camera, “Ladies and gentlemen, let’s make some room on the couch for Spencer Reid!”
You can’t help but correct him, “Dr. Spencer Reid.”
“Dr. Spencer Reid!” He remedies.
With this cue, your cute professor boyfriend walks out on the stage. He’s squinting because of the bright lights and even brings up a hand to block some of the blinding studio spotlights.
He isn’t wearing anything too fancy, though he would argue that he was wearing his good slacks and a new button up. To be honest, any clothes that didn’t have any dirt or various sediment on it was good enough for you.
Spencer’s eyes, framed by his glasses, quickly find you on the couch and you’ve already scooted down to make some room for him. His hands hang awkwardly by his side and you know he’s fighting the urge to wipe his sweaty, anxious palms on his pants.
When he reaches you on the couch, you guide him down with your hands taking his. You also give his hands a small squeeze of assurance and comfort.
Frankly, you’re not sure why he’s agreed to such a situation in the first place.
Spencer didn’t naturally get nervous by famous people like you thought he did when you first met him. In that particular situation, Spencer was really just nervous because his massive crush on you was growing each and every day. If only he knew it was the same for you.
Spencer, however, did get nervous in situations with lots of people or when the attention would primarily be on him. This made being a professor as a first career quite confusing for you to wrap your head around, but Spencer relaxed a lot when he was talking about something he’s passionate about.
“So, Dr. Reid-”
Spencer interrupts Graham, “Please, just call me Spencer.”
Graham smiles at him, “Alright,” He continues on, “So, Spencer, have the two of you realized how viral you’ve gone?” He asks first.
You and Spencer exchange a look.
How could you have not realized? When you had accidentally leaked your relationship on an actress-friend’s podcast, you first panicked. But was assured by your friend that it could be edited out if wanted. After a long discussion between you and Spencer, you decided it was time to soft-launch your relationship and was prepared for the news to break.
What you didn’t expect was how the world freaked out. You knew a few sites would report on the announcement, after all, you were a well known actress who’s fans were often loyal and you hadn’t been in a serious or noteworthy relationship in a while.
A few days after you went public, edits were being made of your boyfriend’s interviews, people not even in the major were signing up for his upcoming classes, and the world fell in love with him as did you. You two were proclaimed the new ‘it’ couple and the flame was fanned with pictures you two shared to your social medias.
You had once asked Spencer if it was bothering him that he was getting so much attention, but he answered with a peck on your temple, then nose, then lips and a sweet phrase on how the only attention that mattered to him was yours.
He remedied with a followup to say he also hopes his students pay attention to him. At which you laughed and kissed him back.
“No, at least, not at first,” Spencer answers honestly, “It has calmed down from that initial wave and we’ve learned to deal with it for the most part.”
You look at him by his profile and smile, proud of him. He has done interviews, but none with the main focus being your relationship.
“And how would you say did your relationship progress off set and when filming wrapped?”
“Well, it was a lot less sand.” Spencer jokes, making the crowd laugh. “That and we grew to know each other beyond our jobs. There’s more to both of us than our occupations and that was an important step in dating for us.”
“No sand certainly is a bonus.” Graham confirms, gaining a laugh as well.
“Now, Spencer, you’re a professor in archaeology?”
With the short remainder of the interview, Spencer’s anxiousness and tense body language melts as he gets to talk about what he knows best. The audience, and Graham, love him and eat up his responses. You already know your castmates love him as well judging by the way when they extend an invite out to you, they ask you to bring Spencer if he’s available.
Although you’re rather proud of your boyfriend being so comfortable in the spotlight, you do ask out of curiosity how he was able to overcome his anxiousness later that night after you had gone back to your shared hotel room to unwind for the night.
With you leaning against his frame, both propped up in a sitting position in the bed, he would simply smile down on you and ask if you didn’t remember.
He’s able to relax when he talks about something he’s passionate about.
When you ask him what he means, Spencer simply presses a quick kiss to the top of your head and answer.
“You, of course.”

a/n: i didn't mean for this one to be so long but i got carried away... i can definitely see myself writing more about this pairing because i think so much can be expanded upon it. i also really like the style i did this one as writing domestic fluff or meet cutes over and over can be a little draining, especially doing it everyday

Style became notorious for its tone, which would run the gamut from snarky to satirical, from ironic to judgmental. At the same time, reporters, especially women, developed a reputation of being insightful and tough profile writers. The combination of Quinn, McPherson, Judy Bachrach, and Nancy Collins was called "Murderer's Row." Graham recounted a conversation with Henry Kissinger, when he said: "Maxine Cheshire [the Post's gossip columnist] makes you want to commit murder. Sally Quinn, on the other hand, makes you want to commit suicide."

The Disappearance of Mountaineer George Mallory
Tumblr media
November 02, 2023
George Mallory was born in Cheshire on June 18, 1886, and from a young age he was interested in climbing. When he was only 7 years old, Mallory climbed the roof of his father's church.
In 1904, an experienced mountaineer named Robert Lock Graham Irving took Mallory on as a climbing companion after the death of his original partner. Both Mallory and his friend, Harry went with Irving for a trip to the Alps.
In February 1909, Mallory was invited to Wales for a climbing trip at Easter. After this, Mallory was given an application form for membership into the Climber's Club, joining in May 1909.
On July 29, 1914, Mallory married a woman named Christiana Ruth Turner, just 6 days before Britain entered World War I. The pair ended up having three children together, two daughters and a son.
Though Mallory had an extensive education and worked as a school master, he did have to enlist in the army and served throughout World War I, eventually ranking up to lieutenant in 1917.
By January 1919, Mallory returned to his teaching position which was at Charterhouse, though he was not fully happy being a teacher. He wanted to get back into mountaineering. In January 1921, the Royal Geographical Society and the Alpine Club established the Mount Everest Committee to finance an expedition.
Mallory was contacted by the committee asking if he would be interested in this expedition, the crew planned to do a trip later in 1921 to figure out the best route to reach the summit, and then in 1922 they were going to go again, this time actually reaching the top.
Mallory at first was not sure if he wanted to go -- it would mean that he would have to be away from his wife Ruth, and children for a chunk of time and he was sceptical the group would be able to accomplish this.
Eventually Mallory and his wife were convinced it would be the opportunity of a lifetime, and in February 1921, Mallory accepted the invitation formerly, though it was noted he showed no emotion and was definitely not excited for the trip. It was in February 1921 that Mallory resigned from his teaching position.
Leading up to this point, Mallory had quite a bit of experience having done various climbs and reaching summits. He completed several expeditions in the Alps, since his first climb in 1904. Specifically in the Alps, both Mallory and his friend Harry suffered from altitude sickness.
On August 18, 1921, Mallory and 3 others left their camp at around 20,000 ft. They discovered a gateway to the mountain, and after figuring out the most viable way to reach the summit, on September 23, 1921, a group of climbers left camp to descend into the East Rongbuk Glacier, to pitch camp. The frostbite and winds were extreme however, and eventually on September 25, 1921, Mallory called off the expedition.
It was the groups goal to be the first to reach Mount Everest's summit. On May 20, 1922, Mallory and his group began this goal. After two failed attempts to reach the summit, in June 1922, the group tried a third.
At one point during their ascent, an avalanche began on an ice cliff above, sweeping over the group. Mallory and three others were able to dig themselves out of the snow, unharmed, but saw a group of 4 porters had fell 150 ft below them. The avalanche had caused another 9 porters to be swept into a crevasse.
A search and rescue effort was started, and 8 out of the 9 porters were found. Unfortunately only 2 of them had survived. This was the end of the third attempt to the summit.
Mallory's next attempt at reaching Mount Everest's summit wouldn't be until June 1, 1924.
By June 8, 1924, Mallory and Andrew Irvine, would begin their attempt to reach the summit at 8 am. This morning, another climber, John Noel, perched himself at Eagle's Nest Point, with a camera so he could film Mallory and Irvine. The flimer also had 2 porters with him, however no one could see Mallory or Irvine.
By 10am, still having not seen any sight of the two mountaineers, the cloud and mist had completely obscured the view of the summit ridge.
The last person to see Mallory and Irvine alive was Noel Odell, a support climber, just after 12:50 pm. He saw them from a distance, two black spots moving, before the clouds obstructed his view. Mallory and Irvine were never seen alive again.
On June 9, 1924, Odell and another inspected the Camps, looking for Mallory and Irvine to no avail. It was impossible for the two mountaineers to have returned to camp, as everything they had left there was as it was — having not been touched. After days of searching and finding nothing, the expedition was over and on June 15, 1924, the surviving members returned home.
On June 19, 1924, Ruth and Mallory’s children received a telegram stating that Mallory and Irvine had died. On October 17, 1924, a memorial service was held.
On May 30, 1933, almost 11 years after Mallory and Irvine had disappeared, an ice axe had been discovered at an elevation of 27,723 ft, by the leader of the expedition, Percy Wyn-Harris. At first, Wyn-Harris and his climbing partner, Lawrence Wager left the ice axe where they had found it, but after their own failed attempt at reaching the summit, on the way down Wyn-Harris decided to take the ice axe, leaving his own in it’s place.
The ice axe was eventually determined to either be Mallory’s or Irvine’s, though it is unsure which mountaineer’s it was. After Odell inspected it, he noticed there was 3 marks on it, which Irvine used to mark his equipment. Ruth stated that she had never known Mallory to mark any of his stuff that way, so most likely the ice axe was Irvine’s, however, some of the expedition members from the 1933 expedition believed the axe belonged to Mallory because it had Swiss manufacturers.
In 1962, Irvine’s brother found a military swagger stick, which belonged to Irvine and it had the same 3 identification marks on it.
In 1937, a man named Frank Smyth wrote a letter, and in the letter he stated that during the 1936 British Mount Everest expedition, he scanned the North Face of Everest with a powerful telescope and saw a body, believing it to be Mallory or Irvine. This sighting was unknown until 2013, when Smythe’s son revealed it in a book, after finding his father’s letter in a diary.
The 1999 Mallory and Irvine Research Expedition began, with the goal to find evidence of the 1924 British Mount Everest expedition and find information about whether or not Mallory and Irvine reached the summit.
On May 1, 1999, around 10 am, members of the expedition reached 26,900 ft, where they were going to set up camp. Setting off, it was 11:45 am when a member found a corpse laying at 26,760 ft. The body was partially frozen, but well preserved to the cold condition, fully extended and had both arms outstretched with the head pointed uphill.
The right leg was broken, with the left leg crossed over it, suggesting the mountaineer must of been still conscious. The rear of the body was exposed, the wind having blown away some of the clothing. The exposed skin was white, but the hands and forearms appeared dark. Most of the internal organs had been consumed by alpine choughs, a specific type of bird. The birds had pecked away leaving damage to the right leg, buttocks and abdominal cavity.
Tied to the waist was braided cotton climbing rope, the right foot had an intact green leather hobnailed boot, but the left boot only had the tongue remaining on it. Many had suspected that Irvine had fallen in 1924, and this body was his.
When looking at the layers of clothing and removing them, there was a label on the shirt with red print, “G. Mallory.” The body of George Mallory had finally been discovered, almost exactly 75 years later.
Mallory’s body had several injuries — his tibia and fibula of his right leg were broken, his right scapula was deformed, his right elbow had been fractured or dislocated. He had multiple cuts, bruises and abrasions, his ribs had been fractured. It was without a doubt that Mallory had fallen. The climbing rope that had been looped around Mallory’s waist had crushed his ribs and burned his skin. It was also determined that when this happened, Mallory and Irvine were roped to each other. The exact circumstances are unknown, no one will ever know what caused the accident or made them fall.
A few weeks later, an oxygen cylinder was found at an altitude of 27,789 ft to 27,805 ft. The cylinder’s stamp no. 9 confirmed that it was from the 1924 British Mount Everest expedition and was used by Mallory and Irvine.
Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the first mountaineers to have reached the summit of Mount Everest, welcomed the news of the discovery of Mallory’s body, and acknowledged that Mallory might have reached the summit of Mount Everest decades earlier.
There are many theories about what led to Mallory and Irvine’s deaths in 1924. Research in 2010 suggested that an extreme storm may have led to their deaths. The research provided stated that when Mallory and Irvine attempted the summit on June 8, 1924, there was a drop in barometric pressure and temperature. Believing this could have resulted in a blizzard, however, Odell described the morning of June 8, 1924 as clear and not extremely cold, but turned into a severe blizzard by 2pm which lasted until 4pm.
While it is unknown what exactly happened, many researchers believe the weather was way more extreme than previously believed, and this could have contributed to the deaths of both Mallory and Irvine.
On November 14, 1944, Mallory’s younger brother, Sir Trafford Leigh-Mallory, an Air Chief Marshal, crashed into the French Alps, everyone on board was killed. Mallory’s daughter, Frances Clare, married a man named Glenn Allan Millikan who was killed in a climbing accident on May 25, 1947 at Buzzard’s Roose in Fall Creek Falls State Park.
Frances’ sons, Mallory’s grandchildren, Richard and George Millikan became climbers and were very well respected in the 1960’s and 70’s. On May 14, 1995, George Mallory, Mallory’s grandson reached the summit of Everest, leaving a photo of his grandparents on the summit, ending “unfinished business” for his grandfather.
In early 1923, Mallory was asked why he wanted to climb Mount Everest, his answer: “Because it’s there.”

I'm planning on starting that MP Regency AU fanfiction! What should I include? (U, PG and 18+ suggestions are all welcome!)
OH MY GOD YOU'RE ACTUALLY DOING IT?!?!!? LESS GOOOOOOO!!!!!
Ok uhh here's my suggestions!! :
-All (well technically 3) the Pythons have a really specific kinda Regency royal/heir-like title/nicknames to them based on where they were born (i.e some random examples; John Cleese, Earl of Weston-super-Mare, Captain/Admiral/General Graham Chapman, Duke of Leicester, Terry "Jonesy" Jones, Baron of Colywn Bay of North Wales). Then you have Vicar Michael Palin (of Sheffield), Baron Terry Gilliam from Paris, France (he says he's a Baron but the others don't really believe him and thinks he's really a phony or something lol), and self proclaimed "Maestro" Eric Idle (from the local Cheshire pub). Then you also have Stableboy Neil (Innes)/Neil the humble Stableboy, Countess Carol Cleveland and Countess Connie Booth (in this AU, Connie is Carol's older half-sister/cousin) of London, Lieutenant David Sherlock (Gray's second-in-command in the army, and also love interest but pretends to just "be friends" so to not make people suspicious about their relationship with eachother, etc!
-Gray is both a highly respected army official by day (at work technically), and a promiscuously gay playboy by night (when he has the time off doing the army business). He smokes alot too.
-Jonesy ends up with Regency era Denise Coffey and learns that she's not as "bad" as anyone makes her out to be. She's considered"bad" because she's apparently "too common" to fit with society. In other words, society thinks she's "too unattractively normal" to be considered pretty, to which she politely says bullshit to :).
-John and Gray are childhood best friends with eachother. Michael and Jonesy are also childhood best friends with eachother. Eric and Terry tags along as well.
-John becomes instantly uhh "emo" and tragic and moody and cold because of his recent breakup with his (ex-)fiancé Connie, even though they just broke up since almost a week ago. He mopes about it all the bloody time that even his friends start to get annoyed by it all, and it makes even his own sappy poetry look like decent stuff.
-Eric and Neil meet up at the weekends to play as a musical duo at the local Cheshire pub. Eric is, ofc, sorta homeless, meaning he has to to stay over at Neil's cottage house but also stay at the local taverns until he has to pay rent.....but mostly he chills out at Neil's house.
-Eric gets a "rags to riches" kinda story where, with the help of Gray who just so happen to be at the local Cheshire pub to "meet a special friend of his" (which is ofc David) in which Gray overhears the pretty good singing, he agrees to hire Eric as his servant and give him a permanent place to stay and enough money to live by. Eric is ecstatic ofc!
-Michael is a kind and innocent vicar, a follower of god, but he's a bit horny too! He particularly has a crush on a nice and kind woman called Helena (who runs the local bookshop in the town). Mike has the hots for Helen but knows he can't actually ask her out due to him being religious and stuff and it apparently going against the rules to marry whilst preaching about god or something. However, he tries to get around this by starting out slow, via becoming companions with Helena by helping her with the bookshop part-time. It all seems going to plan. However, things start to get a bit too *spicy* when Michael accidentally sees Helena in her regency era undergarments (which is a "stay"-kinda undergarment) just as she was about to get unchanged. As if it couldn't get any worse, the stunned Michael commits the greatest sin he has ever committed.......he sees a bit of her bare back. That alone is enough to make Michael faint. Helena, being the good and understanding friend she is, helps Michael get back to life and takes care of the poor soul. Michael is grateful for Helena helping him, but feels guilty for seeing her like that. Helena tells him that it's ok and that it was an accident at the end of the day. Michael smiles, and out of the repressed passion he held back for all these years, he slowly cups her face and begins kissing Helena, and Helena, at first surprised, is then quickly eased and understands and kisses back Michael. Michael and Helena then have the most excruciatingly passionate sex that night, and both are left satisfied.
-Gray meets David in an abandoned farmhouse, and they both announce their feelings for one another, and they both kiss passionately and uhh have the most beautiful gay sex one could ever hope.
-There's alot of "characters running through the moors" whenever the character starts a new relationship, romantic or platonic.
-Gray wakes up naked every morning after each promiscuous affair.
-Terry the Parisian Artist develops a romance with the ""weird"" woman who runs the tailoring clothes shop, Ms Margret "Maggie" Weston. Terry & Maggie bond over their shared weirdness and love for absurdities in life.
-John and Connie began an (almost) lifelong romance (before they broke up) when they were young teenagers of about 16/15 at a ball one night. From there on, they hit it off with each other pretty well. The young John and Connie then sneakily exited from the ballroom, then they snuck out and playfully ran to the garden maze and then snogged each other all night long.
-The Pythons and Co go to a regency era fairground/carnival and have a lovely, fun time there. They also get to ride on the merry-go-round on the merry-go-round horses!
Uhh hope you enjoyed the ideas I gave! Let me know which of the ideas is your favourite and why? I absolutely can't wait to read it!!

The novelist Christopher Priest, who has died aged 80 after suffering from cancer, became eminent more than once over the nearly 60 years of his active working life. But while he relished success, he displayed a wry reserve about the ambiguities attending these moments in the limelight.
In 1983 he was included in the Granta Best of Young British Novelists, a 20-strong cohort, most of them – such as Martin Amis, William Boyd, Kazuo Ishiguro, Ian McEwan, Salman Rushdie, Graham Swift and AN Wilson – significantly younger than Priest, whose career had begun almost two decades earlier, and who had at least 15 books and 50 stories in print by the early 80s. He clearly felt that it was not so much the quality of his work that delayed his “promotion” to the literary establishment, but his reluctance to deny, when asked, that he wrote science fiction.
His large body of work never fitted easily into any mould. Only in recent years has it become widely understood that the sometimes baffling ingenuity and thrust of his fiction has been of a piece, no more detachable into convenient genres than, say, Amis’s or Ishiguro’s tales of the fantastic.
Like them, he wove visions of Britain drifting into a post-empire future without secure signposts. Those stories, and the characters he let loose without a paddle, sink and dodge into realities that no longer count. Lacking much in the way of science-fiction gear, even his early work seems to describe the point that we have now arrived at.
His first novel, Indoctrinaire (1970), jaggedly initiates that scrutiny of a near-future, self-hallucinated Britain that terminated only with his last novel, Airside (2023). His next, much more mature, tale, Fugue for a Darkening Island (1972), is the first of several to envision Britain as islanded both literally and in terms of the traumatic solitude endured by those who live in it. It depicts a land devastatingly isolated by ecological collapse, threatened by uncontrollable waves of the world’s dispossessed. The tale is broken into 69 sections (or islands) in no chronological order.
Inverted World (1974), a brilliantly realised study in how perception can transform a world, and The Space Machine: A Scientific Romance (1976), a wry but genuine homage to HG Wells, step away from his central focus. But in A Dream of Wessex (1977), in some stories from An Infinite Summer (1979), and in a further novel, The Affirmation (1981), he created what he came to call The Dream Archipelago, a sequence of tales set in a variety of similar Britains, all transfigured into differing landscape-dominated worlds, sometimes enjoying a Mediterranean climate, each individual tale following paths into watery labyrinths.
The influence of Richard Jefferies’ After London: Or, Wild England (1885) is clear. The protagonist of The Glamour (1984) is so islanded from reality that he becomes literally invisible.
Born in Cheadle, Cheshire (now Greater Manchester), Christopher was the son of Millicent (nee Haslock) and Walter Priest, a senior executive in the firm of Vandome and Hart, manufacturers of weighing machines. On leaving Cheadle Hulme school at the age of 16, he became an accountancy clerk, work that he was able to leave in 1968. Much later he published the stories he wrote from this period as Ersatz Wines (2008).
The first significant hint of a way forward into his mature vision seems to have come through reading Brian Aldiss’s Non-Stop (1958), a tale whose disruptive questioning of science-fiction conventions borrowed from the US, married to a loud pessimism about humanity’s hopes of dominating any future world, was electrifying.
The boisterous Aldiss soon introduced him to the small but intense literary world in Notting Hill Gate, west London, that Michael Moorcock was beginning to create in the early 60s through the magazine New Worlds.
In an early piece, Priest himself first applied the term New Wave to the experimental fantastic narratives of this era, but was ambivalent about how much he wanted to identify with what he found in New Worlds. He gave up clerical work, began to write full-time, and in 1969 married Christine Merchant. They moved to London and divorced after four years.
The New Worlds/New Wave vision of a world that had lost all sense of itself, with no stories to show a way out, was inspiring: but from the beginning Priest recognised the central influence and mentoring genius of JG Ballard, who made hypnotic stories out of the seemingly unstoryable, for his uncanny intuition that past, present and future were an “inner space” we must explore and live with.
Though his works are formally more ingenious, everything Priest wrote acknowledges his mentor’s foreknowledge that we now live in that inner space, where the lighting is treacherous. His last book, not quite completed at the time of his death, is a study of Ballard.
After the US author Harlan Ellison withdrew one of Priest’s stories from his indefinitely postponed blockbuster anthology Last Dangerous Visions, Priest published The Last Deadloss Visions (1987). It was a ruthless documentation of Ellison’s failure to release this volume, while retaining at least 100 stories, some from as early as 1972, and all the while promising immediate publication (when Ellison died in 2018, the anthology was still in manuscript). Priest treated the vituperation from Ellison’s followers as an inevitable consequence of his honesty, but shrugged it off. Others in the US respected him for speaking out.
In 1981, Priest married Lisa Tuttle; they divorced in 1987. The following year he married the writer Leigh Kennedy, and they had two children, Elizabeth and Simon.
His novel The Prestige (1995), about two feuding 19th-century magicians, won both the James Tait Black Memorial prize and a World Fantasy award. The successful film adaptation by Christopher Nolan (2006) starred Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as the illusionists sparring over a teleportation stunt.
Responding to this new upsurge in his reputation, Priest wrote about the experience in The Magic: The Story of a Film (2008). Meanwhile, The Separation (2002), a dark alternate history of the second world war featuring Rudolf Hess and Winston Churchill, won an Arthur C Clarke award.
He and Kennedy divorced in 2011, and he and the writer Nina Allan began to live together, soon moving to the Isle of Bute. They married in 2023.
His remaining years were prolific. The Islanders (2011) was soon followed by three further and summatory Dream Archipelago tales. An American Story (2018) takes a contrarian view of the assassination of JF Kennedy. Expect Me Tomorrow (2022) plays an intricate game involving doppelgangers, geology and climate change.
His last novel, Airside, conveys with eerie aplomb the seemingly simple tale of a Hollywood star who escapes the potential wreck of her career by travelling through something like an escape-hatch housed in the Heathrow “airside”: an Escherian space, neither here nor there, that any traveller must somehow traverse without becoming abandoned.
The French director Chris Marker’s most famous film, 200 stills comprising the 20-minute La Jetée (1962), which Priest cites in this novel, is partially set in an airside where past and future intersect. The sadness of that intersection is fathoms deep, serenely knowing. The voiceover for that film, and the narrator of Airside, speak to us in the same tone of voice: a tone that seems to grasp the future in hindsight.
At the end of his career, Priest had finally brought off his greatest trick: to bring us home to where he awaited us.
In his written work, he could be acerbic and taxing (though usually persuasive). My own friendship with him, which deepened over half a century, revealed an urgently kind man, witty, loyal, amused, gregarious. He had the rare gift of taking himself fully as seriously as he warranted: but no more. His laughter was infectious.
He is survived by Nina and his children.

What do you think of this fanfic AU idea?
A fanfic that's a sorta parody/crossover of sorts about Alice in Wonderland x Monty Python, except we follow an Alice-type character called Ellis (who's casually GNC) who ends up in an alternative world called "Pythonland" and we follow them as they bump into and interact with various Monty Python characters from the TV show, live shows and films.
Thoughts?
LET ME CAST THIS-
White Rabbit- Eric Idle
Cheshire Cat- Terry Gilliam
Caterpillar- John Cleese
Mad Hatter- Graham Chapman
Queen of Hearts- Carol Cleveland
Tweedle Dum- Terry Jones
Tweedle Dee- Michael Palin
Dodo- Neil Innes

Friday 21 December 1832
8 ¼
11 ½
Damp wet morning F47° at 9 ¾ at which hour breakfast – had got up on receiving note from Mr Jeremiah Rawson to say he could not come this morning - will be here if possible at 9am on Monday if not on Wednesday to let him know if either of these days will suit me - then looking into Horace which also delights me - how have I lived so long without another little pocket Horace? (my old one was somehow lost in London on en route last year 14 or 15 months ago – staid talking to my father till 10 ½ - Letter from Miss M.T. Bolland containing her receipt for £12.10, due, as she will have it, to herself and her sister E.S. Graham, 20th December – to direct to her at ‘Mr. Grahams’, Surgeon, 17 High street, Stockport, Cheshire’ – told my father of this letter – he agreed that he, if in my place, would certainly get done with them and throw the manner into chancery as I have nearly made up my mind to do – talking to my aunt till 11 - had John in the drawing room and read him Miss Norcliffes’ letter respecting his son – out at near 12 – found Pickles who had finished digging west arbutus slope, and made another little drain in the low part of Lower brook Ing wood, just come up to ask what to do next – went with him and set him to begin stubbing the hedge (cut off by the Lower brea breach road) in Wellroyde upper brow, and staid with him till 4 ¼ when he went home it being too dark to do much more – he had lastly planted a goodish thorn close to the new footpath sleps [steps], a thorn that he got up in stubbing – sauntered in my walk – came in at 5 – some time with my aunt – dressed – wrote the following note to ‘John Waterhouse Esquire Wellhead’ and sent it by John – ‘Shibden hall Friday 21 December 1832. Dear sir – I shall be much obliged to you to pay my navigation dividend into Messrs. Rawsons bank, to be placed to my account – my kind regards to Mrs. Waterhouse and the youngers of your family – I am, dear sir, very truly yours A. Lister’ – Dinner at 6 ¼ - Marian came to me, and kept me talking till 8 when came to my room and wrote all but the 1st 4 ½ lines of today the plasterer here all the day doing the underdrawing in the entrance passage which Wilson knocked down in laying down 2 new board in the library passage, and finishing plastering all about the library passage stove since its being reset - letter 2 pages from Dr HSB- no date, but post mark 21 December - saying he had last night (yesterday) received a letter from Mr Sunderland ‘giving me a slight account of Miss Walker and recommending some tonic medicines, as she seems to have recovered from her attack of catarrh’ - Dr B- answered immediately and sent ‘a prescription for a slight chalybeate which is to brace the nerves’........... Mr S- had mentioned the medicines being made up in York - Dr B- said very properly this was on account of Miss W-‘s anxiety not to have it known she was an invalid - ‘are you tired of nursing or do you hope you may do some good - I trust you will not yet desert your post, as I am convinced you are more likely than any of us to be eventually beneficial - pray let me know your proceedings’ - poor Steph he little dreams the real state of the case - then till 11 20 wrote notes to go tomorrow morning to ‘Messrs. Parker and Adam solicitors H-x’ dated tomorrow to ask for the coal lease as I should want it at 9 on Monday morning and our servant should call for it in the evening - and said I should be glad to know what was at the Godley road meeting this morning - note, too, to ‘Jeremiah Rawson Esquire Shay’ to say I should be glad to see him at 9 on Monday morning or, if prevented that day, at 9 on Wednesday morning – tolerable morning tho’ a little small driving rain ditto in the afternoon about 1 for ½ hour then tolerably fine at least quite fair – F54° (fire in my room all day) now at 11 25 p.m.
