Well, there won’t be much work or training for me for at least a week. Now there is a big chance I will need surgery on my 4th Metacarpal tomorrow as the break is not clean & one of my finger is crooked. Thanks for all the messages of support & see you all Sunday @2xutriathlonseries in Elwood πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ#GPCsquad #gpcfamily #roadtorecovery #damagedgoods #triathlon #geelongtriathlon #nolimits (at Geelong Hospital)

This week, we welcome Adele Bohan to the #gpcfamily Here is a bit about this lovely Super Mum: Hey I'm adele, single mum to two awesome teenagers and full time administrator for a building company. I'm relatively new to Triathlon, i started running about 4 years ago as a way to lose weight and entered some local runs to stay motivated, my competitive nature kicked in pretty quick though and i really enjoyed trying to improve my times. Injury benched me so to maintain my fitness i jumped in the pool and realised when i didn't drown that i could actually swim so on a whim i entered the Enticer distance in Portarlington in 2015 having no idea what i was doing and on the oldest most unused mountain bike i found in my garage and having never tried running off a bike before...but it was awesome i loved it, yet left it there and went back to running. no idea why! After injuring myself again i entered the Barwon Heads Tri last year, loved it (again) so this time i got myself a road bike learnt how to change a flat and have only forgot to unclip at traffic lights one time (swear!) and haven't looked back. I think i have a decent swim and my bike is improving but my run is a complete mess and injury after injury has meant that i can't achieve all i want so came across to GPC and set Kate her biggest challenge to date i am sure - to teach me to run....... no more T-rex style running! A sub 6 hour half distance is my goal along with an injury free lead up! Looking forward to watching you race Adele πŸŠπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ #gcsquad #trainspecifc #nolimits #geelongtriathlon #triathlon #geelong #welcome #newrecruit #ironman #trisquad

Whatever the goal, whatever the plan of attack, whatever the level, I am always super excited to help newbies reach their goals. For Benny, it is sub 9h30 at #imoz & I cannot wait. A bit about him: Hi I’m Ben Meadows....better known as Melon. Im looking forward to training and racing with the GPC crew. I live in Geelong with two kids (mini melons) and my beautiful tri wife Jean and my four legged running buddy Cricket. I run my intellectual property business (fresh produce) out of Port Melbourne so do most my training along Beach Road or MSAC on weekdays. I’ve had a go at IM Busselton 2014, IM Melbourne 2015 and IM Port Mac 2016. Last years race was off a 6 week taper due to injury and although I ended up having a great hit out I feel I’ve got some unfinished business on that course. Port Mac 2018 falls on my 40th birthday. My bodies moving ok again so I’ve decided what better way to celebrate than in the hurt locker. I want 9h30m for my birthday and I’m hoping the GPC coaches and crew can help me get to that start line with a shot at the prize. Welcome to GPC & let’s do this Benny πŸŠπŸ»πŸš΄πŸ»πŸƒπŸ»#GPCsquad #welcome #recruit #trainspecific #ironman #represent #nolimits #geelongtriathlon #gpcfamily #triathlon #letsdothis (at Geelong, Victoria)

Another Zac, another super nice guy and some big goals in sight. His improvements on the swim have been enormous in 6 weeks. Here is a bit about Zac Boothroyd: I'm 32yo and started out doing short runs about 4 years ago to keep my wife company on her workouts, from there I fell in love with running and quickly increased distances out 15/20km leading to regular 25/30km runs. Since then I have participated in numerous 5/10/21km events with best result being a 1st place in the 3hr Enduro Aus Day Rambler in January 17. I have since also become a keen cyclist and occasional lap swimmer, I have always had an interest in multi-sports and now see the challenge of triathlon as a natural progression. My immediate goal is to complete my first triathlon and build up to Olympic distance. Long term goals are to run a sub 3hr marathon and eventually complete a full IM Event. Welcome Zac and I am looking forward to taking you to your goals. This week we welcome this super nice guy & gun runner, Zac Turner. Here is a bit about him: Hi, I'm Zac. I have recently moved to Geelong after living and training on the Gold Coast, and work as a physiotherapist at Kieser. My background consist mostly of running and AFL, with triathlon taking up most part of the last 2 years. I have always had a goal of one day completing an ironman but could never draw myself away from footy for long enough to commit. In more recent years running and triathlon have become my main sporting priorities. I have raced over 70.3 and marathon distances, and am aiming to race (finish) at ironman Cairns 2018. Looking forward to training alongside everyone. I cannot wait to get you ready for this big challenge Zac. Here what he has to say. Welcome back Andy! I'm back! I thought I would return to the squad after a short spell to train for Geelong 70.3 and try break 6hrs. Looking forward to the hard work! Very excited to be part of this man's journey! Matt is a gun runner & has always done a bit of swimming & cycling. Matt Petersen is now taking on the @ironmantri challenge. A bit about him: I'm 42 years old and took up some running to lose weight about 8 years ago and really enjoyed it. I get a buzz getting out and having adventures and have taken on quite a few different sports in that time including multisport, adventure racing, kayaking, obstacle racing, ocean swimming and a few triathlons. In the last few years I have done 5 marathons and 6 ultra trail runs including 1 x 100km run. Whilst not real fast, I enjoy competitive racing and the motivation it gives me to train. Looking for a new challenge and have always wanted to do an ironman triathlon, so planning now to do IM Cairns 2018 as the next big challenge. Thanks for choosing GPC & let's do this Matty πŸŠπŸ»πŸš΄πŸ»πŸƒπŸ»#gpcsquad #gpcfamily #recruit #represent #trainspecific #racebetter #geelongtriathlon #nolimits #ironman #triathlon (at Bells Beach)

Great to have another Belgian in the squad. Cannot wait to wear the Belgian suit at his side next year on the Gold Coast. Welcome Stijn! Hi, I'm Stijn (pronounced something like 'Stain') and super excited to be the second Belgian on the team! I moved to Australia in Feb 2015 with my wife Julie and live in beautiful Port Melbourne. I work for a global strategy consulting firm so with long days and regular travel, finding time to train is my main challenge but nothing better than starting the day with a run or a swim! I signed up for my first sprint tri about 7-8 years ago as a bet with a friend one a drunk night and have gotten more and more into it ever since. I've been racing the Gatorade series the last two years and did challenge Melbourne, IM Cairns and IM Port Mac. My old coach was one of coach Stephs' main rivals back in his "younger" days racing in Belgium so I hope that rivalry still lives a bit so that Steph is extra motivated to take me to new heights :). My main goal this season is the Mount Martha Sufferfest half in December but the real goal is to get to a comfortable sub 10 Ironman at IM Busselton 2018 (talk about long term goals) and represent Belgium at the Gold Coast 2018 Worlds. Look forward to meeting you all! #GPCsquad #welcome #trainspecific #racebetter #gpcfamily #geelongtriathlon #triathlon #nolimits #represent #worlds (at Ironman in Cairns)

This machine & 3 time Elite 24h MTB champion just joined our squad. It did not take much convincing to join our ranks when I told her she was made for Ironman Triathlon. She loves super hard & super long bike rides, she runs a casual 22min for the 5kms of Park Run, so now let's build the swim part which she is not actually bad at. After one week with us, she has already entered #imwa 😳I cannot wait to see what she can do comes December 4th. Thanks for choosing us & for putting your trust in us Jessica Douglas. A few weeks ago, we welcomed Regina Weedon into #gpcfamily A super lovely chick with a big potential to get to Kona one day. Here is a bit about her: Hi I'm Reggie Being an energetic kid into everything,my pace as a grown up has not slowed down. I found triathlon later in life. Ive gone from enticer to sprint to Olympic and then my first 70.3 in 2008 & did my first IM in 2013. I've never applied myself to training really, just enough to get through, with no structured training, but I got the bug,and worked out the longer the distance the better for me. Then I met someone at the pool and their small group were training for an IM, I was invited to come along, they taught me so much!! How to train, follow a program, race and training nutrition, friendship and with hard work came a shock, great result. I really enjoyed racing with friends on the same course and sharing the journey. Now I'm hungry to get more/the best out of myself and work harder. I decided the time was right to have a real crack, so here I am. Training for Ironman allows me to combine my 2 favourite hobbies - training hard and eating! Welcome Reggie, we have a mission for #IMWA now. Go to Kona for the first time together πŸŠπŸ»πŸš΄πŸ»πŸƒπŸ» #gpcsquad #welcome #recruit #ironman #triathlon #trainspecific #racebetter #represent #lovewhatyoudo #geelongtriathlon (at Western Suburbs Triathlon Club)

Here is an important message from our new sponsor Miplan. Endre is the person I have to thank for lifting 3 out 5 exclusions I previously had on my income protection, life insurance & permanent disability + he also saved me some money πŸ’° Hi GPC team, As a new sponsor to the #GPCfamily I wanted to introduce myself and offer all members of the squad a complimentary financial review. Working as a Financial Adviser at miPlan, I am passionate about protecting my client’s lifestyle and assisting in building their wealth for the future. As a fellow triathlete/cyclist, I know that we are exposed to risk every time when we go for a ride, and so I make sure it a top priority to focus on my client’s personal protection plan. Unfortunately bad things can happen to good people. Which only highlights why its imperative to make sure my clients, and their loved ones, are protected financially. Talk to me to arrange a free financial health check. Because of Miplan & Endre, every new #GPCsquad members will now receive a free new cap! Thanks Endre for your support & friendship.
