An "I'm in Australia, what can I do for Palestine?" masterpost
Petitions:
Petition EN5847 - Provide Consular Support to Palestinian Australian Families (this one closes at 11:59 on the Thursday 15th of February. Please sign before then if you can, and make sure you confirm your email!)
Ask your super fund to divest from companies that support apartheid conditions (Australian Palestinian Action Network)
https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN5847
Australia: stop sending arms to Israel (Amnesty International)
Urge Australian Government to Save Local Doctor's Family Trapped in Gaza (petition by family members)
Australia: Reverse decision to suspend UNRWA funding (Amnesty International)
Reinstate UNRWA Funding (Australian Palestinian Action Network)
Grant Palestinians fleeing the conflict in Gaza access to humanitarian support! (Australian Social Workers for Palestine)
Contact your representatives:
Start by finding your MP here
Call or email to ask that Australia push for an immediate ceasefire, provide consular support to family members to leave Gaza, and reinstate UNRWA funding. If that's too much, pick one point to start with! I like to write myself a script before calling, as it removes some of the anxiety. Calling is preferable to emailing, but whatever you have the capacity for is so much better than nothing
Once you've contacted your MP, you can also contact Penny Wong on (08) 8313 8272 or [email protected]
If you can contribute financially:
Donate an eSIM to help Gazans stay connected
Donate to help the most medically vulnerable evacuate Rafah (I completely understand that many people are wary of donating via GoFundMe, but the people involved in this effort do an excellent job at documenting their efforts + keeping records for accountability purposes. Have a look at @raindovemodel @merryfet on instagram for more details
Help El Rahman Inc buy Cairo -> Melbourne tickets for stranded families. They're a Melbourne-based organisation that does amazing work
If you only feel comfortable donating to NGOs, consider the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund, Anera, UNRWA, or the Red Crescent
And, finally:
Come to your local action on Sunday. Even better, bring a friend
If you're a university student, alumni, or prospective student, check whether the institution in question partners with any companies on the BDS list. A disappointingly high number of unis partner with weapons manufacturing companies. If yes, urge them to divest.
Learn the BDS list. Do not purchase anything from companies on the list.
#beloveds if ur coming across this in april it’s very out of date#(the call ur reps + come to a march + buy some esims part doesn’t change though)#hoping to make an updated one in the next few days#auspol#palestine#australia#free palestine#gaza#current events

So I have been doom scrolling on YouTube shorts those days,,, a video of someone buying/eating something that the pro palis are boycotting pop up.
It’s a simple innocent video, the comments are full of “boycott (brand name)” and watermelon emojis and “free Palestine” some even calling the YouTuber names and stuff.
This is harassment, this is full on harassment of someone who crime is buying from a brand they are boycotting.
Not going to lie but they started to sound like a cult at this point.
Instead of focusing all their energy on harassing random YouTuber and Jews and destroying properties, they could focus it on more useful and important things that will help stop this war.
Like idk, helping with the release of the hostages? Not supporting Hamas?
100%
The BDS movement is majorly problematic. They celebrated the shut down of a soda stream factory in the west bank a few years back yet they didn't do anything to help the palestinian workers who lost their jobs find new jobs so they can, ya know, feed their families.
BDS also claims that you should listen to all palestinian voices, yet is telling people to boycott standing together, an org which uplifts Palestinian and Israeli voices.
In regards to non BDS boycotts, it also a cult mentalility especially with that clip of that Australian Hasan fan who said "just don't drink coke on stream, just drink it in private as we are boycotting coke" like ah yes, only boycott a product in public and still give them your money in private, totally how a boycott works.
Like giving BDS some credit (which i hate to say) at least they focus on only a few things which is achieveable. Some of those long ass boycott lists (like that 300+ German list) is just unachieveable.
The whole reason for the boycotts is to make the Israeli government have less money so war cannot happen and to punish the Israeli economy. Essentially civilian created sanctions, however it will not work unless the majority of the population does so. Israel will also always defend themselves when they are attacked. So like you said nonnie, unless Hamas is gone and peace is achieved, Israel will continue to have wars with breaks in between until they are no longer attacked. And obviously war and after after war is bad for everyone on all sides as both Israeli's and Palestinians should not have threats to their safety due to their respective governments actions.

I was completely unprepared for the interior of this 1990s 5 bd. 2ba home in Jennapullin, WA, Australia. $499K. The description says it was "painstakingly crafted from the ground up by our visionary client who sought to blend the past with the present." Nah, this is a WTH House.
The realtor says, "Prepare to be captivated as you step into a world where magic and charm intertwine." So we enter. Uhhh. Okay...it's huge, but it does look like a DIY job. There are 14 stunning chandeliers, all sourced from Government House- you can see some of them in the hall.
What is up with the carpeting? It looks like he bought a bunch of area rugs on clearance. Forget the carpet in this house, it's too big for that- just roll it up. The columns are 150 year old dragon columns obtained from Foo Lok Restaurant.
It goes on to say, "the epitome of extraordinary living! If you're tired of cookie-cutter homes and crave a dash of pizzazz, sprinkled with oodles of character, then this property is your dream come true."
I'm speechless. It's gigantic and the ceiling looks like a bowling alley's. But the pressed tin formerly adorned the ceilings of houses and hotels throughout Perth. So, this is the main living area with kitchen. But, why does it look like the decor isn't secure- the ceiling looks to be peeling off. The phoenixes once graced the dining hall of the Hills Street Chinese restaurant.
Look at the proportion of that exhaust hood to the double sized stove. That's a commercial exhaust, but it's way too big. I kind of like the touch of fancy framing around the windows and the large black tiles.
Now, this could've been elegant, but it's grimy looking, not well crafted, and appears to be falling apart in places.
He tried to make an elegant bath, but everything looks so grubby. Of this, the realtor says, "Picture this: fixtures and fittings lovingly sourced from iconic buildings scattered throughout our vibrant State of WA."
So, he fashioned a double sink, but the counter is just a 2"x4" (see the knot in the wood coming thru?) with gold taps in the wall, exposed old pipe, and ornate metal grates on each side. The floor looks like remnants and the panels don't fit flush around the tub.
More pieced area rugs in the primary bedroom. There's some sort of pattern in the floor under those carpets. Maybe it was some kind of sports facility, but apparently he bought the tiles at auction.
Here's the 2nd bath. Mirror looks like it's shimmed up to be flat against the wall. Don't like any of this, with the possible exception of the floor and tub.
He must've gotten some deal on these rugs.
In this 1/2 bath, he fashioned an unusual sink. Clearly, he doesn't understand the concept of a pair of curtains, b/c the windows all look to be adorned with a single stretched panel.
Here's another bedroom with silk curtains that previously hung in the Melbourne Hotel, hangin' like rags. It all just looks like a real hack job, though. He bought nice stuff, but the execution sucks.
He tried, bought some cool architectural salvage, but he just wasn't able to pull it all off. Here's a cute sink, but what's going on underneath?
Even the pool looks DIY with corrugated metal.
10.29 acres.
The property's pretty messy, though.
There's a creek, too. The whole thing really needs work. Maybe a new owner can make something nice out of it, but it will take a lot of money. To me it looks like a knockdown.

Hey my fellow westerners, if you’re still staying silent on Israel’s genocide of Palestine, you’re fucking cowards. Stop posting about taylor swift and your Halloween parties and silly “this is me” woodland creature memes for a goddamn day and post about the horrific genocide happening in Palestine. Learn about it. Watch videos from eye.on.palestine, Al-Jazeera, twitter, etc.
Oh, wait, is that content too graphic and disturbing for you?? Good!! IT SHOULD BE. It’s fucking *GENOCIDE*.These images, these thousands upon thousands of dead Palestinians, and Biden’s complicity in their deaths, SHOULD make you feel sick to your stomach!!! And as long as the US and the rest of the world’s governments continue to shrug their shoulders and condone genocide, YOU SHOULD NOT STOP TALKING AND POSTING ABOUT THIS.
I’m so serious. Call and email your politicians incessantly. Tell them you are a single-issue voter and the issue is genocide. Tell them you will not be voting for them if they endorse any bills that contain funding or other support for Israel. If you see pro-genocide politicians in public, confront them and ask why they support genocide. If you can, get out in the streets and protest, find out if any corporations that fund Israel have offices near you and show up there. Do not let them know peace. Look up what companies the BDS movement has asked us to boycott and then never fucking give them a dollar of your money again. Whatever you do, SPEAK UP. Post about this on social media, talk to your friends and neighbors and family and coworkers about this. Call it what it is — a genocide — and make it clear you are against it. Oh, but you might lose your job? PALESTINIANS ARE LOSING THEIR FUCKING LIVES. If you say or do nothing right now, I hope it haunts you forever.

not to get all BD x Sxf buuuuuuuut
Miri and Anya both having parents who kill. Anya being a telepath in the middle of a cold war, making it hard for her to have connections, friends. Miri having two absolute messes of men as a family unit who she is at least vaguely aware of do dangerous stuff for their job, which has singled her out in the past, made it hard to fit in. Anya's complicated. Miri's life is messy. Them becoming friends and not judging each other, understanding the other more than you could ever know. Them making the other feel just as much of a kid as they should be. Them being kids.
Yor and Kazuki swapping meal recipes, making food together. Gushing about their kids and promising to arrange more playdates between the two. Pointedly avoiding that topic, that they're both killers for hire, not normal. Because right now they get to be normal, they get to share a domestic moment that all the other parents naturally have, but they have to struggle to be in. Opening up a bit more about that part each time they have a get together, because keeping secrets makes you lonely, because as much as Yor wants to be in with the housewives she sees around her, as much as Kazuki wanted so desperately to be a father, neither of them got that chance. But they have Anya now, they have Miri, and as fate would have it, they now have each other.
Rei gaming while Loid cleans his guns on the couch next him, basking in awkward, untrusting silence. Until the next time it happens, because Yor and Kazuki won't stop dragging them along to the kids' playdates (its definitely for the kids, totally not for Yor and Kazuki). Then it happens again, and again, until the silence isn't so suffocatingly thick, its calmer now, easier. Kinda nice actually. They have their spots on the couch now, each keeping a watchful eye over their respective child, until watching over my child becomes watching over the children. Cause if I'm overseeing my kid, might as well keep an eye on the other one right? She seems nice, makes mine happy. And I respect the other guy too, I guess. And it becomes a thing now, the two of them casually swapping kill counts and talking about life on the job, the differences between being a hitman and a government agent... being fathers. Partners. And knowing how deep that love runs without having to say anything to the other cause hey, he gets it. He gets me.

by Corey Walker
Arguing that anti-Zionist activists are part of a long tradition of “freedom fighters” and “liberators,” Hill implored the US federal government to revoke all economic and diplomatic assistance to Israel, including support at the United Nations Security Council. He also argued that defeating Zionism is a necessary stepping stone on the path to ultimately dismantling capitalism.
“Stop it! Tell the truth! Stand up for freedom!” he said. “Do the work of liberation! Until Palestine is free, until Sudan is free, until Congo is free, until Haiti is free, not one single one of us free! Free Palestine, from the river to the Motherf—king sea!” Hill said, triumphantly pumping a balled fist in the air.
“From the River to the Sea, Palestine shall be free” — a popular slogan among anti-Israel activists — has been widely interpreted as a call for the destruction of the Jewish state, which is located between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea.
The Algemeiner asked the panelists why there was no mention of Oct. 7 or Hamas when discussing the causes of the ongoing war in Gaza. The outlet also asked whether the panelists believe Hamas should surrender in exchange for the sake of preserving Palestinian life.
“I feel like we have this reflexive take in American media politics where we have to say, ‘What about Hamas?'” Hill said in response in a mocking tone, adding that invoking the terrorist group is “unnecessary” and “excessive.”
“Hamas hasn’t surrendered because they’re still under brutal occupation. Hamas hasn’t surrendered because Israel has never given the Palestinian people one minute, one moment of self-determination, freedom, or liberation,” Hill said.
“And so, when you talk about Hamas, when you talk about Oct. 7, you [should] also talk about Oct. 6. Because, history didn’t start on Oct. 7,” he continued.
Hill went on to say that although it is against his “moral code” to maim, rape, and slaughter thousands innocent civilians or abduct hundreds of innocent bystanders, as Hamas-led Palestinian terrorists did on Oct. 7, he believes that it is not his “job to tell people how to liberate themselves.”
“The question presumes, and it is undergirded by a kind of orientalist, white supremacist idea that Palestinians are these unyielding, barbaric, uncivilized, premodern people that are incapable of negotiation.”
The academic then defended Hamas as a “democratically-elected organization that has been systematically undermined.” He urged the audience not to talk about Hamas “like they’re some irrational crazy people,” arguing that the Islamist group’s actions are motivated by a “backdrop of Israeli settler-states that sexually abuse people, that steal land, that kill people.”
“Let’s have a real conversation about Hamas, not the neoliberal, dishonest, orientalist conversation about Hamas,” Hill concluded.
Hill has a long history of peddling anti-Israel narratives and calling for explicit violence against the Jewish state. In 2018, Hill was fired from his position as a CNN contributor for calling for “free Palestine from the river to the sea,” a phrase which according to critics implies a genocide or mass expulsion of Jews from Israel. He has also voiced support for the boycott, divestment, and sanctions movement (BDS), an initiative which seeks to isolate Israel from the international community as the first step toward its eventual destruction. The pundit additionally praised antisemitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan — a hate preacher who has referred to Jews as “termites” and called Nazi leader Adolph Hitler “a very great man.” In 2019, Hill skewered mainstream media outlets as “Zionist” organizations, a nod to the antisemitic conspiracy theory notion that Jews control the media. The progressive activist also pushed an unsubstantiated claim that Israel is “poisoning” Palestinian drinking water.
Following the panel, The Algemeiner was pulled aside by a pair of individuals connected to the event and grilled about the publication’s position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and whether it supported “black solidarity with the Palestinian community.”

I've been thinking a lot about the US left's need to get better organized. As general strikes for Palestine enter the zeitgeist, I am seeing a lot of muddled messaging, and it's made me realize that one of the things we need to get on the same page about is how a strike functions.
There are two primary types of pressure a strike exerts, and we can exert these pressures in many ways in addition to work stoppages.
The first is financial. Most work stoppages you hear about are operating on this level-- cost the company enough money that they'd rather meet your demand than keep hemorrhaging. This is most effective when the company in question is directly involved in the practices you want to stop. In this case, we're talking companies that have some level of investment with Israel. For example, if you work for any company like Boeing, which has sped the delivery of bombs to the Israeli government, causing financial disruptions can make it cost more to be invested in Israel than it would be to divest.
If your job is not invested in Israel, a work stoppage will not cause financial pressure. But again, this doesn't mean there's nothing you can do! Maybe you're an office manager and you routinely order HP products for people who work in the office. Since HP is on the BDS list, this could be a time to look into other brands and see what products you can purchase elsewhere.
It's easy to think that if a work stoppage won't do anything at your specific workplace, that they're nothing you can do. But if you think in the lens of "what will create financial pressure," you will likely find more options. Get creative. Look at the BDS list. Think about who we're pressuring, and how to divert money away from them.
The second point of pressure is public opinion. In terms of work stoppages, this would be closest to a teacher's strike. Teacher's strike's don't cost school districts money. What they do is cause frustrated parents who have nowhere to send their kids. The goal is to direct that frustration to the school district, creating pressure to do what it takes to reopen schools.
If several stores on the same block are able to shut down with a sign on the window that says "closed in support of Palestine," this is an example of this sort of pressure. People can't go about their daily business, and the goal is to direct the frustration they experience towards the occupation and our own government's role.
If you can't shut things down, there are other actions that create the pressure of public opinion. This is where we've been asked to elevate Palestinian voices. It's also where you may see protests that shut down a street, a freeway, a transit station. The goal is to cause such disruption that regular operations can't function, and that people whose lives have been disrupted join the call for ceasefire.
I encourage everyone, not just in this week but moving forward, to think about the framework of pressure tactics. If we understand why an action matters, we can find alternate ways to participate if what's being suggested won't work for us or won't cause the necessary pressure.
Lastly, I want to say that there are likely many people in your community who have participated in organizing work that is beyond the scope of what I have mentioned here, and that know more than I do. Building relationships and benefiting from shared knowledge are necessary in the work that needs to be done. This week's call for strike will not be the last. What can we do today to get more organized for what comes next?

Hey my moot wanted to ask how you reached Australia 🥲 are you doing great there?
Yes, apparently I’m a great Chameleon, I can fit in practically anywhere haha (this is my 7th school). Aussies didn’t even believe me when I said I’m STRAIGHT from Bangladesh and not even from an *English medium background*. I’ve made a respectable amount of friends, broke my shell, trying to get a job over summer and get into the Brisbane way of life.
But the story of why I suddenly left my country in the middle of the year without any preparation (my mom’s still there, I’m legit alone TwT) is pretty tragic and long. I don’t know if I can even sum that up in a novel, seriously. If you are aware, there has been some drastic political changes in Bangladesh since July 2024. Government comes, government goes, but who gets impacted in South-Asian countries? The religious minority, of course. Even though my parents have never actively participated in national politics their jobs and our LIVES were threatened by the new “Gen Z activists”. They just won’t say what’s our crime though, but it’s only the fact that we’re “bloody Indians” aka Hindus. My dad had no choice but to use up our Australian passports (thank God him and I had one) and we quietly left BD, without even telling anyone. Except my boyfriend (oh how i miss him)
Pretty much long story short, we’re still living in terror as the international tensions are rising between Bangladesh and other countries. My entire family is sitting in an inferno right now, life is certainly not happy.
But still, what happens, happens for the best. Maybe I wouldn’t be sitting here in a perfect school in a perfect little suburb with my very own swimming pool if this shit hadn’t pushed me out of the little corner of Bangladesh. Maybe my horizons wouldn’t be so broad. Maybe my future wouldn’t seem so bright as today.
Being physically away from all the violence is sometimes all you need, you know? Sorry for the long rant-

Me reminding myself this is my blog and I can say whatever anyways bc I opened c2077 and my brain is hot wired to mass effect rn . Who wants to hear some loose ideas . You do I am making this choice for you .. under the cut bc long post thumbsup
Wrex is a fixer 1000% . Specifically a fixer out in the badlands working with the nomads bc the Urdnots are a nomad clan so he Has that connection + he’ s just setting up shop outside night city to make life a bit easier . He ends up adopting Grunt at some point when he’ s like . 5ish . Grunt still chooses the name Grunt when he hits like 18 and jumps into organized fighting . Wrex sponsors him in these fights . Bakara is Grunt’ s mother figure and runs the little Fixer Business in tandem with Wrex . She also keeps constant check on the Urdnot clan’ s status and such . She also organizes drag races . Grunt cannot compete in these he crashes any car he drives to pieces . She’ s busy half the day , either doing work on her own car , taking time for prayer , or she’ s just gone into night city for some Reason
Ashley is a rocker who took up the mantle after loosing her grandfather and father in corporate wars . She did join militech for a few years but was discharged later from disorder + she was going down the same path as her granddad + dad and she realized she really didn’ t deserve that fate . She still has her old military upgrades and constantly keeps them checked so they don’ t malfunction badly since they are Old models . She likes them and she knows removal would just be harder than the upkeep at that point . She lives in North Oak . I like to think she does both heavier rock and acoustic , depending on her mood
Kasumi is like . One of The Best people to get on your team for a job . Equipped with top of the line cybernetics , some of them definitely stolen from secure government data , she can easily make any job an infiltration job and can keep casualties to the Minimum . Yes she has the behavioural faceplate and yes she does use it to screw with her friends and contacts often it is good for her. She prefers to stay off grid , but has her own little network she jacks into at the end of the day for her own little joys . She probably lives in Dog Town , to keep herself separate from the rest of night city . She’ s a collector of rare technology too , and will do Anything to get her hands on it . If it’ s still in working condition ? She’ s taking it nothing can stop her
Thane and Samara r also fixers , Thane in Heywood and Samara in Westbrook .. I like to think they share gigs with each other often . They are also often on the look out for newer people to night city to try and see if they Need help or if they Can help and try to set them up from there .. Kolyat runs with a gang in Heywood and Thane keeps up with making sure he stays safe + making sure he keeps up with prayer and whatnot . Morinth is another rocker and braindance actor who tries to make her bds as dangerous as possible . Samara doesn’ t approve of the BDs part of her livelihood but will try to set her up with jobs to keep her busy and keep her out of trouble Samara doesn’ t quite approve of ..
Jack does gigs only related to cyberpsychosis . She’ s a survivor herself and she knows better than anyone how to handle someone during an episode . She crashes around night city and doesn’ t really stay in one place for long . She’ s always checking police scanners to see if another incident has been reported Or if they’ re on her ass again . She has a Doberman she rescued that accompanies her around night city , he’ s very good at protecting her bike from being hijacked . She does have a little side car for him to curl up in during rides
Joker and EDI are a “ team “ of fixers . Technically . They both operate under the name Joker and never show their face during any form of communication . EDI is an AI that hasn’ t been claimed by the Blackwall and Joker is in the process of building her a body that can pass as human just with a Lot of cybernetics . They’ re both netrunners and are terrifying at what they do . Joker is ex corporate and survived a zeroing attempt so he is very . Well . He isn’ t the nicest guy ever .. EDI was a project he managed to save before having to go into hiding for a bit . Joker’ s skills let him have near perfect control of vehicles while EDI is better with security measures . People keep trying to guess which voice of the two of them is real and which one is a cover up voice . Since it’ s not like they want people to figure out what is actually going on
