What's your favorite form/shape/look for Martian Manhunter?
OMG OMG HI You asked me the question I didn’t know I was dying to answer!!!! Thank you and pls enjoy my ramble<333 under the cut in case it gets too long heheheh
So this can be answered from multiple angles (and that’s exactly what I’m gonna do)
First would be my favorite art style for J’onn!!!
No argument here it’s definitely dcau’s design
This skrunkly blorbo has the most perfect face ever, so very well balanced features in between human and alien, my favorite thing about it are those black patterns on his eyes and his lil mouth shape <33
And his natural form in this style is perfect too, love the bio armor looking chest plate thingys on his chest and his heels, gives him a bug vibe and how can I not love that!!!
Other styles I like would be:
J’onn from Justice League Action, a bit skinny but he’s very cute and I love his overall silly vibe
J’onn from Justice league Crisis on two earths
Alright next I’ll talk about my fav uniforms for him!!
Gotta love the classic one ya know, very effective, real fun seeing him walkin around with his tiddies out and in his lil hot pants
N52 J’onns outfit is pretty cool too, I kinda like it when they go in between too little coverage and too much, plus loincloth fits him (idk if that’s what it’s called) , bonus point for claws and spikes on elbows
Justice lords J’onn pretty cool too!!! Kinda wished there was more red tho
In general I like seeing the red X on his chest, the big cape with collar and the boots with a part folded down, so if a design has all three it can’t go too wrong really
Anyways, finally I’ll talk about my fav form/shape for him!!
Apart from his hero form (Martian manhunter), his natural Martian form is my fav, especially when they make it insect like, honestly it’s no fun when you see Martians and they just look like green humans with red eyes, like why!! They’re aliens!! Give them alien features!! Make them look weird!!!
Things I like to see when it comes to his Martian form would be pointy head, long and (comparatively) skinnier limbs, claws, spikes, and I’ve seen some artist give him tree like patterns which is really cool since I associate him with plants a lot, but otherwise smooth or slightly scaly skin does the job too
Here are some interpretations of his Martian form that I enjoy and haven’t been shown, from JLA, adventures in the dcau, JLA act of gods, and Martian Manhunter 1988 (pls go read it excellent story and beautiful art)
That’s it for now! Will gladly yap more if anyones interested, thank you for coming to my ted talk<33

Life (aka Bleach) is Fire Emblem
We finished rewatching TYBW so we could watch new TYBW! Which we legitimately did attempt to do in advance of new TYBW airing, but in classic B3 form that did not remotely happen. And now there's another episode??
My relationship to TYBW has always been to "yes and" whatever logic it lays out, like, sure, we'll roll with what you're putting down. If that's what you say happened, then that's what happened! You do what you gotta to do tell your story, TYBW. I gotchu.
But this time I was like, maybe I should actually try to parse some of this, because in my mind TYBW is a vacuum ice wall and maybe like three other things, despite having both read it and watched it a couple times. I've come to the conclusion that purely at a logistical level--eschewing narrative and whatnot--TYBW does not actually make any sense. I say that in a completely value-free way. It doesn't actually matter to me whether TYBW makes sense or not because I am here 1) to support my blorbos and their almost unilaterally plot-inconsequential scenes, and 2) for the glorious sadvibes.
Some of my favorite characters in TYBW, though, are the Joe Shinigami. That panel where it's just the disembodied voices of the begging, terrified soon-to-be-dead, as heard by a trapped Ichigo powerless to save them? Probably my favorite panel in the entire arc.
And I'm just like, yoooo. Despite knowing that over a hundred First Division Joes got wiped out in seconds, along with Sasakibe, the Gotei's response to this was to make a bunch of other shinigami stand by some more doors??? No fortifications, no clever traps, no bolstered defenses? We're just gonna make Kajoumaru and Kira et al stand by doors and get obliterated? Imagine being so blinded by grief over your Vice-Captain/life partner that that's what passes for tactics! YAMS, WHAT. (This is my story for why this happened this way and I'm sticking to it. JUSTICE FOR MY MAN SASAKIBE.)
But then I was ALSO immediately like, "lollllllll that's totally me tho. That's definitely how I play Fire Emblem." Like, that is the exact logic I've historically deployed when my guys get blown out of the water and I restart the chapter and proceed to execute the exact same formations. And I'm just like "but THIS time it'll work" for the next 7 identical tries.
My ability to command armies is just like Yamamoto for real 😎

yes I do have time to talk about Apollo justice! He’s my favorite character and honestly I would love to hear you talk about him because….. I don’t know how to put the words together….like to talk I mean
[whispers] i'm gonna let you in on a secret ... as much as i would love to talk about apollo justice i don't think i'm very good at conveying my thoughts about him because my brain is empty and i don't personally think i'm good at analysis...!
anyways, sure i'll talk about him for a bit wheezes
i love apollo so much, he's an unexpected fave. i don't tend to have the protagonists of a series to be my favorite but my GOSH apollo really just clawed his way up into "character of all time" territory for me; and he's not even the type of character i usually go for, like?? and now he's the standard of the character i enjoy, we love a game-changing king. i see a loud, passionate character and i point "just like apollo jushpich...."
i love that apollo's loud, i love that he's dorky, i love that he's a snappy snarky piece of shit, i love that despite that he's such a target for being bullied, i love that he's just ... him! he has such fun dynamics with everyone, especially with trucy.
GODDD those two make me feral they love each other they are sibbles they care for each other apollo CRIED when he thought trucy was in danger despite knowing her for like less than a day i love THEMMMM
ok so i gotta talk about him and klavier now too i guess wheezes. listen, listening? yeah? opposites attract? i'm a sucker for that, love that shit. apollo could not give a flying fuck about klavier as a celebrity and kinda just (begrudgingly) sees him as his cool co-worker who's annoyingly flashy, air guitars in court, and he trusts klavier enough to find the truth? that guy who he sees in such a troubled state because of all that's haunting him and decides that he must pull the darkness out of him? that guy? so yeah, i'm pretty normal about them.
also he's transgender too ok
i guess we can talk about apollo and his gazillion backstories which ngl, put me off at first, but now i think it's hilarious. if in aa7 he gets another dad i won't even complain. it takes a village to raise an apollo justice, as they say (joke, cue laughter)
guy who has the life of an anime protagonist wants you to think he's normal so bad. guy who has magical eyesight because of his fucked up magician family. guy almost got killed in a regicide that killed his biological father . guy was sent to the states by his wanted revolutionary adoptive father that didn't come back for him for years, only to find out later that said adoptive father died. guy was sent to the states most likely through illegal means. guy's best friend dies and has an emo arc. GUY JOINS A REVOLUTION. guy gets mentored by the phoenix fuckign wright and gets brain damage. i'm kinda in love with him in the most blorbo way possible.
#sunnysideanswers#ace attorney#apollo justice#aa4 spoilers#aa5 spoilers#aa6 spoilers#anonymous#is this enough talking about him wheezes

man as a original triology lover your impressions of the 2nd triology is scaring me haha. I know I should make my own impressions for the game but man it feels like Nick, Phoenix, Maya, Trucy and Apollo just keeps getitng written dirty.
I definitely think there's a notable quality drop and the more I play the more I understand the fans who only respect AA123 as canon, lol. I think it's tough because I think once you decide to continue playing past 3, there's not really a good off-ramp. AA4 is the best game of the "trilogy" imo BUT I think it makes an unsatisfactory ending for the series, especially for Phoenix (or any of the trilogy characters who evaporated off screen), so once you play it it's like... well now I gotta do 5 and 6... but they're really not coherent sequels to 4 like, at all, nor are they really related to each other in the way 1-2-3 make a cohesive trilogy. With each new entry you can feel Capcom behind the scenes trying to overcorrect for mistakes made in the previous entry.
I'm on the last non-DLC case of AA6 now and personally on the whole I think it is much better than AA5. I'm sort of surprised that even among fans who like the later games more, it seems like people prefer Dual Destinies. Spirit of Justice is a mixed bag that is enraging me quite often but it's also been more successful at hitting some interesting beats, and the overall quality of everything in the game (sprites, GUI, puzzle solving mechanics, etc) is leagues ahead of DD, which had negative interest in being a game or letting you solve puzzles or like... play anything.
(Seriously I think fandom gets so wrapped up in the story elements, or maybe so much of fandom is watching LPs instead of playing that they don't notice, but I can't get emphasize how much AA5 DOES NOT let you PLAY it beyond hitting 'next' in dialogue slides. There is almost no gameplay even by Ace Attorney standards, it's insane lmao.)
There are some things the sequel trilogy does that I really like. I really like a lot of the new characters, and there's some fun/cute moments with the og crew too. As a Doctor Who fan I feel like I was well equipped to mentally categorize pieces of one franchise on the scale from "most canon" to "least canon", lol, which is helping a bit; canon is a liar sometimes. But it's a frustrating experience and I can't really recommend playing unless someone is so invested they feel compelled to series completionism (me) OR .... so casually invested they just wanna play some mystery games and aren't gonna be bothered if blorbo seems out of character.

☕ + favourite dc heroes! drop your list bestie <33 and tell me why and what you think of them <3333
Okay SO this took me a while to write but in no particular order, and definitely non-exhaustive
Nightwing!!! He's my boy. Absolutely unhinged. So kind. Love him! Could on about him for hours
The Flash (SPECIFICALLY Wally’s Flash though, because look. LOOK. I love Barry. And he's an amazing Flash. You can tell he was created a while ago, is all I'm saying.) because like he's so fascinating and such a complex character. He fully believes in his capabilities and is an asshole about it sometimes because he believes he worked for the mantle and others (cough cough Kyle) were just handed it. He also believes Barry was a better Flash than him and he isn't doing the mantle justice. Like...he's such a dumbass but his life is as stable as a superhero's can be, with the job he loves and his lovely wife, twins, the unborn baby, a nice house, and a family he adores and adores him back. Disaster of a man.
Whatever alias Tim is going by at at given point. He's my little guy I love him <333
Literally anyone in YJ now that I'm thinking about it. They're all so blorbo shaped...dumb teenagers with the world on their shoulders
This sounds like such a fucking cop-out, but Robin. Everyone to ever wear the mantle in main continuity (IGNORING Carrie and Jarro. I dislike Jarro for very petty personal reasons that have nothing to do with his merit as a character and Carrie is just...there to me)
Wonder Woman! I love Diana, she's such a strong, brave, kind, and determined character and genuinely amazing. Nubia though 👀 I need to pick up one of her comics sometimes because she looks amazing and she's black like me?? Gotta check her out soon.
Tbh, Wonder Girl, Cassie and Donna both. Do they have much of a canon relationship? No idea. They're sisters to me though <3
Batgirl!! Esp the main three; Babs, Cass and Steph. I just feel they each made Batgirl their own and embodied the different aspects of it so well while keeping the core things the same; Kindness, Bravery, Resilience. (Though Babs growing into Oracle is just as important to me as Dick growing into Nightwing)
Starfire, she's kind and complex and sweet and brave and gorgeous and also completely down for murder at any given opportunity, which is iconic of her.
I would say Roy and most of his aliases, but like there's been so much stuff done to his character that I can't pin one down to say it's my favorite. Him being part of the fab five generation with little Lian is essential to me though
(ask game)

You’re a bartender? Assign drinks to some of your favorite characters
ooooooooooooooof. wait.
because like. is this what I think they'd like? what I think "represents" them? what I think they'd order? there's too many options here and I have not been a bartender for long enough to know enough drinks.
My favourite characters? damn. I immediately forgot every blorbo I have lmao.
Nightwing's gotta be first. He's complicated cause I'd imagine all the batkids are trained by batman to be weary of alcohol because it impedes brain function. He probably sticks to low percentage things in general. I'm pretty sure he's also canonically a sweet tooth? and if not I think he would be. So I don't think he's a beer guy. Probably when he was younger and that's just What You Do when you're that age and start drinking cause you think 'I'm a guy so i gotta drink beer'. once he's older I figure he's more of a mixer guy, like hard soda, cruisers, that kind of thing. still one drink per serve, not super strong, mostly sugar.
If he's in a situation where he's all for getting drunk and is comfortable doing so, I can see him as a cocktails guy. He strikes me as a jalapeno margarita type. I don't think he's big into shots or anything cause he's still got that ingrained discomfort, but y'know, sweet things that are two standard drinks and only about 100mLs all up.
Honourable mention to Wally West cause I can't think of one without the other right now.
Wally can't get drunk. So to him the most important thing here is taste. I think he's a sweet tooth type. french martini or one of those fruit tingle type situations. Maybe like, a frozen drink? I could see him liking pina coladas. If this is a getting drunk situation and he's trying to get drunk quick, I could see him being the type to order a long island iced tea, even though it's usually only made with a shot and a half in most bars and is a huge red flag. eventually someone would tell him he's wasting time and taste buds, cause long islands are served in a highball and honestly taste like crap.
Okay so Kaldur'ahm. Kaldur'Ahm and alcohol is a thought.
I feel like alcohol isn't a huge thing in Atlantis, like most beverages, cause they're in the water. I can't get into world building about dining and such in an underwater setting right now cause I'll be here for hours. But I think drinking isn't a big thing down there yknow? Then on top of that, Kaldur has a high tolerance to poisons (I think young justice just says jellyfish toxin? but I feel like poison in general makes sense for him) so alcohol takes a lot for him.
I feel like he discovers mead and really likes it. there's some really interesting things you can do with mead, especially with saltier palettes, that I think Kaldur, being Atlantean, would appreciate.
When out partying, though, I think he just does shots. cause if he's just drinking to get drunk then what's the point, y'know? just give him some vodka, preferably like three shots of the stuff in one go, and he's good.
man. Favourite characters. hmmmm.
Hiccup Haddock. So he's a viking, like. mead is already on the table. looking at modern drinks, though. going off of mead being something he probably canonically likes. we're looking at sweet but also bitterness from the aging process and a depth of flavour. I think he'd be into scotch, similar depth to flavour and palette, with a smoky edge to it that I think is very "viking core" or whatever. being a dragon rider and all he's probably used to smokiness in food/drink. I'd make him a good riff on an old-fashioned with scotch instead of bourbon, and maybe something with honey and orange bitters as well. that kinda flavour profile.
Leonardo, of mutant ninja turtle fame, is a thought.
I mean it depends on the iteration. I'm mostly familiar with 2012, 2007 and 2018 (stares at word doc of fic where I mix all three) and I feel like all three of them wouldn't be huge drinkers. but if they were to drink, I'd go with a warm cocktail, perhaps with a tea base. those are very fun. whiskey-honey-chamomile or something of the sort. or perhaps fruity teas with tequila or rum.
Merlin, of BBC's Merlin show, already is seen to be drinking ale in the show. I don't think he hates it. Ale of the time wouldn't have bee particularly great, but he seems to drink it without complaint for the most part.
beers and ales have come a long way and I think he could definitely find something he liked from amber or dark ales, perhaps even as far as guineas. If asked to make him a cocktail, though, I'd try for something bitter, possibly gin-based? in my experience some of those can be interestingly dry. or maybe a highball topped with cider? oooh maybe a moscow mule would be the vibe. sub the mint for rosemary and add a really dry ginger syrup in? or cut the lime juice with ginger juice or something like that.
I could keep thinking of blorbos but I'd be here all night.

your art is making me go absolutely feral about wondermagic. I never looked at Zatanna comics before (or much comics in general), do you have any recommendations on where to start? I need more of this funky gay stage magician and her huge dork girlfriend in my life.
oh god. I MEAN first of all YES!!!!! WONDERMAGIC W!!!!!!! im so happy to hear it. they make me actually crazy im glad youre enjoying The Art
however SECOND OF ALL i must confess (as i have confessed before!) that i am a fake ass comic book fan. i've barely read Anything for Any character (LOL) i am not at ALL versed in her various appearances/history. so tbh i hope my more knowledgeable followers can drop recs for both me and you if there's anything particularly noteworthy
but i can talk about what i HAVE read bc my journey with her has been very . memorable to me. THIS IS NOT A HELPFUL POST this is just me infodumping--AT LENGTH--about my and zatanna's relationship. but i do talk a little about what ive read. like casual rontra followers can stop reading here its just rambling
anyway my first exposure to ms zatanna was in the first proper dc comic i ever read. which doesnt count because its extremely not about her (this is a tangent) but its notable for making me out loud go "who is this MAGICIAN" which prompted my partner to immediately reply "you mean zatanna zatara". oh you know her. you know the magician. bitch who the hell is--
you gotta appreciate the experience here. its babys first ever comic. i know superman i know batman ive seen them around (from being alive as a human). i have never in my life heard of the stage magician who hangs out with them (in full costume??) and is their friend(?????)
SHES VERY MEMORABLE. WHO THE HELL IS THIS MAGICIAN
anyway that's all a tangent. flash forwards to last month. i was already working on CTDE from the kara^2 angle (bc i majored in n52 power girl w a minor degree in supergirl: woman of tomorrow, of course) but i was like "i should expand this roster". my friends suggest their blorbos ofc and i have a fun time reading wiki pages from multiple storylines/continuities just getting a wide array of impressions from different places. just snooping around the Vibes. and im like. man i should look at that Magician. read some of HER pages
you gotta appreciate knowing nothing at like 3am, to figuring out ctde zatanna's palette at 5:43 am
i can't resist her.
anyway i already knew here that i was going to do something weird with her in the CTDE that wasn't necessarily connected to any of her published material. i was cooking independently. the stove was on before i had ingredients on hand bc i had the IDEA first. but i was like "i should look at some of her stuff first-hand and try and refine the Vibes" yknow. like theres limits to how much of a fake zatanna fan i can be
so we put out a call in the Mutuals Network and someone was like "you Could watch the justice league dark movie from 2017 she's in that". i was like ok 1hr15 animated movie i can handle that EASY
i didn't love the movie. so i'm not going to say anything else about it. however something VERY IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
thats right. wondermagic took hold before i read a single zatanna comic. just as it has for you anon.... we're not so different you and i...
couple days pass. im just relaxing. hanging out. looking at random tumblr blogs that post comic stuff bc im curious. so i stumble on this one post and it has a clean edit of This Fateful Image 👇
this. GODDAMN image
i was like Wonder Woman is HOW TALL? excuse ME? (>he has also never engaged with a single piece of wonder woman content)
SHES SO TALL........??? and Next To Zatanna? (diesel voice) back in my day we called this spitting distance. and we would post it on /u/
im like okay what comic is this from im going there and im going NOW. to view her. like it's that easy folks. just show me wonder woman, Tall, next to another woman. and i'll go read it
nyway this is Justice League Dark from 2018-2020 it's like 30 issues or so and theres a stretch of chapters where diana is a real hunk its unbelievable. then the art changes but it was amazing while it lasted
(and then i immediately stumbled and wondermagic ctde real)
i really enjoyed this comic actually. i have NO idea how its generally regarded by zatanna nation, but i had a fun enough time. absorbed a lot of DC Comics Magic Lore for my AU which is important
at some point it starts doing Weirdly Umineko Coded dialogue totally unprompted so if you've read that it might tickle your funnybone to see comic book characters asking each other "was this a trick or was it magic 😏". made me feel right at home
my main complaint is that SHE'S NOT DRESSED LIKE A FUCKING MAGICIAN IN IT!!!! COME ON!!!!! they chickened out on the full magician garb in this whole era. which is just so sad. the fishnet fingerless gloves are funny though i might steal that. but i think she is so funny when she's wearing the full magician costume. like call me shallow but her commitment to the bit is so important to me
on the upside she interacts with wonder woman A Lot. the rest of the team is fun too. the justice league dark team is just wonder woman severely failing to put together a squad with any star power at all and i think that's adorable. her failgirl era. now she's out here with her also-rans. i like them all im fond of them
diana scruffs zee like a cat??? she's just hanging there like she's ok with it LOL
it technically jumps off of another comic but tbh if you're willing to hit the ground running and just Accept some stuff in medias res and go with it it's pretty easy to pick up if you wanted
("Just Going With It" is a vital survival skill for getting into comics in general because even if a comic isn't part of a longer continuity its always like "omg glup shitto is here!!! for the fans!!!" and you just have to be like Okay someone else will know who that is. ill just go w it. yknow 😭)
anyway i got a lot of DC Magic Lore (Strangely Familiar Edition) and Zee Content AND!!! Wondermagic Content. in this one. so even if i had an inkling about them before, this comic is really what detonated the charge so to speak. they interact so much
and the dynamic created w their relationship to magic and stuff is really interesting. brainwormy for sure. it took me from "who the hell is this magician" to "DO PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT WONDERMAGIC????? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELLO???" in one comic. i have a LOT of thoughts about them like genuinely i think there's meat on the bone conceptually for wondermagic
but i think pretty much any time they appear together in general they're just Like That. whenever theyre both in a comic they have to be gay about it (what the fuck did she mean by this). i was losing my mind when i was catching up on DC/RWBY (ABHORRED. avoid if possible) and zatanna is immediately on her bullshit again. IS THAT HOW YOU GREET HER
anyway to sum up my rambling here's a peek into my league of comic geeks library of Shit Ive Read Since Then (that had zee in it). basically i have no further wisdom for you but for the knowers this is where i'm at (click to enlarge)
it's a totally random selection LOL my strategy is that i look at comics that list her as a cast member and spin an actual roulette wheel in my brain to decide whether i should read it or not. there's very little else going on here. just monkey sees funny magician -> neuron activates
that pretty much catches us up on my zatanna journey. youll notice if you paid attention to the date/time stamps that it took a mere matter of Days to go from "yeah i can watch a movie" to "i think about her kissing women every night before i sleep". it is DIRE in here. im not sure ive ever had such a Severe escalation of worms
i love her. she's my funny girl. anyway. zatanna nation. if you're still reading this. if you're still with me. what is your wisdom. what should me and anon read. please.
this is a matter of international consequences.
#this post is actually so long if you hit the readmore But i do circle back to you.#sorry i just took the opportunity to infodump. its my funny magician post and i decide the focus (there is no focus)

Thanks! Okay lets do this!
1. The character everyone gets wrong
So Hob Gadling is only a minor character in the Sandman comics and show. An important character, but still minor. We know so little about him, but fandom has definitely run with him and transformed him into something he absolutely is not in canon. Canon Hob is not a hero, he's not your super supportive liberal justice warrior. The comics make clear he is usually on the wrong side of history. He's not even really a nice person.
And I LOVE that fandom has got him wrong. Because fanon Hob is so much better. Also, there is no reason why canon Hob cant become fanon Hob, since we know so little about him and he has such a rich and full history that we have only glimpsed over the centuries. There are so many ways to shape his story around canon to make him more sympathetic in canon and thats totally okay! Keep playing with your fave Sandman blorbo fandom, its awesome what you are creating with him.
3. Screenshot or Description of the worst take you've seen on Tumblr
Lol I have been on tumblr a long time and have seen some dreadful takes, but keeping to Sandman fandom since that's my primary interest right now. The worst take is a recent one, and it comes from the Sandman Companion rather than fandom. If you follow me for Sandman meta you've probably seen me discussing this extensively over the past few days with @so-i-grudgingly-joined-this-site . Dream is not a rapist or abuser in canon. I have really enjoyed discussing this point because it has actually helped me feel even more sympathetic towards Dream. It goes to show how important fandom is when it comes to discussing our fave stories that we can help lift each others spirits and find the good takes and be able to carefully consider and confidentally dismiss the bad takes. Everything is open to interpretation, but some interpretations are better than others, and fandom got it right here where actual published Sandman analysis failed.
13. Worst blorbofication
I gotta say my boy Dream. He's a terrible blorbo! Such a divisive figure! Sad wet cat of a man! Poor little meow meow to the extreme!
I think fandoms treatment of Dream of the Endless is hilarious and brilliant and hope it never stops. Fandom has transformed him into a grade A blorbo for bullying purposes and I'm here for it. He's like all those "sorry I put your boyfriend in a blender" type memes combined. He's constantly called out for his skinny white boy 2005 emo aesthetic myspace profile playing The Cure on repeat eyes always red with unshed tears entire persona and yeah its terrible. I fucking love it.
My only complaint is he's too good at being pathetic. He never wins any of the blorbo polls. Because hes too pathetic to even beat someone as pathetic as Howl Pendragon! Honestly! Fandom needs to step up and make him a bit more blorbo shaped so he actually starts winning some shit! ;-)
Challenging myself to NOT choose violence on the Choose Violence ask game!

✨what’s a fic you’ve posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)
I could talk about Up, Up, and Away! again, but I feel like I’d sound like a broken record; so instead let me talk about The Three Caballeros (and Della)! which is a fic that ain’t exactly popular and is something I desperately want to continue but can’t cause I got other stuff I wanna work on
In case the title isn’t a dead giveaway, the story stars Della and Donald and also features José and Panchito. It’s a pre-canon story that takes place when the Duck Twins are young adults and “borrow” the Cloudslayer to go to Mexico for Spring Break while Uncle Scrooge is away on a business trip
The story is essentially a coming of age story about Della and Donald where they’re at different points in their lives: Della contempt with the adventure life she’s living with her Uncle and brother, while Donald wants to get away from all that and wants to move on with his band mates. Also he wants to get laid
This fic idea came to me after watching The Three Caballeros for the first time and realizing that the story is essentially Donald trying to get laid while his two boyfriends introduce him and talk about their respected cultures. It’s a fun movie, you just gotta watch a lame donkey cartoon before the good stuff finally happens
Besides The Three Caballeros, I’d say some other influences for this story are Don Rosa’s The Three Caballeros Ride Again (the stuff I have planned for later are definitely inspired by this story), A Goofy Movie, Superbad, the War-Time era Disney animated movies, and the song Spring Break Anthem by The Lonely Island
This was the first thing I wrote that wasn’t Indi-Quack! and I remember the first time I posted it, I felt that it didn’t get the reaction I was hoping for. But I learned that overtime, people can still stumble upon your work no matter how old. Every now and then I get kudos for this story and a few times I’ve gotten feedback from people who enjoyed the first chapter and are on board for the story
So yeah, I haven’t given up on it yet. I hope to breathe life into again soon
💞what’s the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language
The characters. Definitely the characters. They’re the ones you have to spend the entire story with. They’re your guide for the story. You could have a story with excellent worldbuilding and a well-thought out plot, but the whole experience would be ruined for me if the characters I’m with suck or just don’t feel right
Whenever I write anything the characters’ dialogue and actions are always something I obsess over. If I plan on using a character in one of my stories I try to give them something to do. Whether it be playing a part in the overall story or just having a memorable line or moment
I always tell myself if I’m adding a character tag for this fic, chances are someone is clicking on my fic for that particular character. So do their blorbo justice
💥find your least kudos’d fic - say something wonderful about it.
Okay, now I’ll talk about Up, Up, and Away!. Out of all my stories, I think this is the one where I’m really happy how I wrote everyone in that story. Not just the main characters
I loved writing for both Tuskerninni and Splatter Phoenix. They’re both Darkwing Duck villains I think are a lot of fun and would’ve definitely fit right in the DT17 universe. I loved giving them their respected origin stories, where we see Phoenix before she gets her powers and Tuskerninni is just a working actor like Drake. They’re going to show up again later in the story as villains, but I love that they appeared in the first story of this series and that the other villains I plan on having got a little mention from the other characters in the story. Also the OC villain I made up for the story was just a fun excuse to come up with bad pun jokes so that’s always fun
Besides the villains I loved all the heroes. Della Duck being a supportive mother just doing her best to help her kids out in their respected hobbies. Webby being enthusiastic about making a movie simply because it’s about her own family. Violet and Lena being sisters and just on board with the idea cause they’re Webby’s friends. Huey being a big nerd as well as a good big brother. And of course Louie, I love making that kid plot and scheme while also being a good brother. It’s just fun writing for how he sees the angles of any situation
Also I love the running gag where Louie and Lena fight for shotgun
Launchpad I can’t help but feel sorry for because of how desperately he wants to continue working for the McDucks but also wants to work as Drake’s sidekick which is a lot to juggle for him. Drake is also struggling with a lot of things such as taking care of Gosalyn, getting work as an actor, and being a hero for a city that doesn’t appreciate him and the work does
Fenton is someone I love writing for but struggle with at times. He’s a dummy, but he’s not an idiot. I don’t ever want him to come across as hopeless. For the Fendra stuff in the story I wanted to show the two be dynamic duo where both parties bring something to the table, whether it be doing superhero or spy stuff and I think I did a good job with that
As for the Dewey, Gandra, and Gosalyn; I had a lot of fun with these three and can’t wait for when I can finally have these three together. A lot of setup with this trio and we got some interactions between them in the story. Dewey and Gosalyn text one another in the first chapter; and for the climax Dewey helps Fenton and Gandra with their superhero battle. The Dewey and Gandra interaction is probably my favorite part of the story
I see a lot of parallels with these three characters and hopefully the readers saw them too when they read this story. But it is only the first story in the series. Hopefully I can finish the follow-up sometime in the near-future

I love all you Dads <3 <3 <3
And your art style! <3 <3 <3
Tell me about a project you're excited about right now! :) Gush about your blorbos :D
Thank you!!! I love the dads too so much 😭
And aaaaaah I’m excited about a lot of my aus fhdkdbdkdbj. I’m thinking about certain plot points in TCOD and a certain character that I cannot share rn and it’s so much fun to play with and I cannot WAIT to get to the good stuff in arc 1, it’s just taking ten billion years 😔
The story of lbl is getting really complicated and I’m getting kinda nervous about it. I’m trying to do the villain justice and a good motivation (I cannot share info about the villain just yet) and the first chapter is taking a while to make, I’m very self conscious about lbl but I cannot WAIT for the different reveals that I have planned.
And I’m just super excited to get started on Love at Twilight! To start sharing it I mean. The comic was just for fun and will be for backstories and side stories or something but the main story will be in fic form. I just gotta finish the first chapter (prologue is done I just need to get rid of a line) and I gotta plan the story more but I adore Kori and I’m so excited to play with him more! Plus the world and characters of tp are so much fun to play with!
#asks#I’m debating on having the first chapter for lbl be colored but after that it’ll be sketchy#it’s not meant to be perfect#but idk I don’t think people will like that#not like lbl has a lot of attention anyways#i guess we’ll see

Prison of Plastic Thoughts on Molly, Giovanni and Especially Lorelai (Spoilers)
I finally finished Epither Erased: Prison of Plastic yesterday and oh my freaking god omf I cant get my blorbos out of my head.
The way this series said the system failed Molly, that trusted adults failed Molly, that even her friends who love her and see her suffering first hand can't help her in a way that really matters. Fuck it broke my heart. Hearing Navan's thoughts about being unable to just. Take her away because *he's a pillar to his community* hurt because he's a good guy. He's shown to be an amazingly thoughtful and caring man but classes and occasional money is not enough to save Molly. She needed a wrecking ball and I'm so happy Giovanni didn't even need to be asked. He was already planning on taking her. He just saw a girl in need and he gave zero shits to laws or future ramifications, he was going to help her come highwater and hell.
Epithet Erased is so amazing and means so much to me. A kid forced to grow up gets to be a kid again. Not by any concentional methods but it doesnt matter because she's free now and with people that will actually care for her.
That was amazing.
.......
But as much as I loved the book, I have gripes with Lorelai's part of the story.. I don't feel a sibling relationship as volatile as this was done enough.... justice?
I don't wanna get personal but there's a reason sibling relationships get to me the most out of any other familial one. I was so excited to cry over Molly and Lorelai, and I did! But it definitely felt like their interactions, the progression of their fights and their thoughts on one another could've been polished better. To me, it never felt like Molly got to actually communicate her problems with Lorelai properly. She either apologized or suddenly lashed out, which I understand, emotions run high, but because she never got through to Lori-
Lorelai does not feel like she learned a proper lesson at all. Her takeaway from the whole ordeal being 'I can stand to lose a bit' coming from *playing* a villain and picturing herself playing with Molly as one instead of what it should've been, her recognizing that she really put too much on Molly's shoulders makes her arc (in this part of her story atleast. Since there was no resolution between the sisters, I HOPE we are getting that in tbe future) frustrating.
I also feel like, if one of the main points of congression against Lorelai's powers was gonna be that she can hurt people (to the point where she freaks out about so much a d even WISHES SHE NEVER HAD THEM, THAT CAME OUT OF NOWHERE. UP UNTIL THEN ALL WE SAW WAS HER ENJOYING AND ABUSING HER POWERS EVEN IF SHE WAS LONELY), we could've had most instances of them actually doing something to people in the past other than just her potentially having set the hojse on fire. I thought the story was setting up her loneliness and departure from her school friends as maybe after losing her mom, she became overwhelmed and actually hurt one of them while having a meltdown. It would've solidified to her that maybe she SHOULD be alone, and given her more standing in her mind to freak out about actually hurting people while in this book, not just because she POTENTIALLY killed her mom but because, like Navan said, she already had confirmation of what she COULD DO with another incident.
And on that note, maybe a sprinkle of having Lorelai flinch and be scared of hurting Vincent Murder only to have him insist he's a gargoyle he can't be hurt(!) could've been another cute point to her crush on him. (Not that I'm a big fan of that potential relationship, but hey, if there's a focus on that, then you gotta milk it through the book).
On the subject of Gio/Vincent, I feel like he went too easy on her after the 'revelation' of what she's been doing to Beartrap on the side while hanging with him. He just breezed through it and was still joking with her during the fight. I didn't expect him to be a complete shift in personality and to cut ties with her, but maybe a bit 'tougher love' would've been good to see. I was waiting to see a more serious side to him as a protector of Molly, but he instead of keept it lighthearted and it didn't feel right. Theirs wasn't a matter of just petty sibling squabbles, Lorelai was a big contributor to the pain and stress Molly felt daily.
Brushing it aside felt so. Bad. For a story that does so well with showing how people fail and the consequences of it, they really softened Lorelai's in the end. She is still with the mindset of a child playing a game. It disappointed me ^^"
But uh, anyways. Sorry for the sudden negativity. It's honestly the only major thing I had a problem with. I love Epithet Erased so much, I guess I may have expected too much out of the sibling side of the story. I still heavily enjoy the rest of the cast and their relationships (other than Giovanni and Lorelai because I think he could be a little harder on her. Again, not a lot! I just think that as the person she likes and actually wants to listen to, she'd learn more from him.) But ah well.

Well then. I had to take a plane ride with some obnoxiously talkative neighbors that would have prevented me from taking a nap, so instead I decided to put on headphones and watch a movie. The in-flight entertainment catalog was not very varied, so I ended up settling on the live action Aladdin, which I have been blissfully avoiding all these years. And yeah, that sure was a movie.
I'd say that I enjoyed it less than both the Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, particularly the latter, which I actually had genuine fun with, albeit most probably because I watched it with a friend and we were so carried away by pointing at the screen and riffing off each other that it might have created an illusion of a grand old time, softening the flaws of the film. Anyway.
There were a number of things that I kind of liked about live action Aladdin. They almost, just barely, brought the experience to the brink of being fun.
I remember all the Blue Will Smith memes back in the day, but he actually was one of the least meh parts of the movie for me? His performance was charming, when he was being himself rather than emulating Robin Williams. And I really appreciated the idea of this version of Genie turning into a human once he was freed from the lamp. Aside from that, I was rather interested in some of the new additions/character expansions (and I actually laughed out loud at the "I am going to get some bread... To go with all the jams" bit, it aligns perfectly with my sense of humor), but then they sort of... slipped away.
I wanna draw a parallel with the visuals here: in some parts of the movie, like the cave of wonders and the landscapes in A Whole New World, the backdrop was rather muddled. Both in terms of a diluted colour scheme and in terms of overcluttered details that do not pop the same way as the more simplistic yet bold and expressive animated scenes.
The plot buildup feels the same: there were moments that made me mentally go "Ooh, nice", like the backstory of Jasmine's mom, or the hints that Jafar and Aladdin are foils of each other, with similar backgrounds as thieves, or the attempt to make the captain of the guard more three-dimensional than "Grr gotta chase Aladdin with a sword"; but then they were not explored in-depth.
And I get that, I am beset by blorbo concepts that come to me as kernels of potentially intriguing plot and then simmer into nothingness all the time. But I am a small gremlin with a mundane day job, not a big-name creator at a multi-billion business meant to entertain people across the globe.
My biggest disappointment, though, aside from the almost complete loss of Iago's personality (which is also why I felt it made little sense for Jafar to pull Iago into the lamp at the end, as this is now less of a sidekick that you want to take down with you, but a random borb that talks sometimes), was the fact that I fully expected the himbo Fantasy North European Prince to show up when Jafar tossed Aladdin into the middle of the snowy nowhere.
I wanted it to be his kingdom, and for him to come riding in on a sleigh or something, and be like "Hey man, I see you got the princess over me, no hard feelings, let me give you a hand". The story paid way too much attention to him during the first act, turning the original asshole suitor from the animated movie into a dumbass but well-meaning jock that got bitten by Rajah not because he was being a douche to Jasmine but because he could not resist petting the Danger Kitty, which. Valid.
Justice for Himbo Prince.
Oh, and I guess the nostalgia bait of the songs worked on me to some extent, and I am now having flashbacks to my own retelling of Aladdin that I toyed with but obviously shelved because I did not want to come off as culturally insensitive. Overall, not the worst alternative to failing to nap.

3, 5, 6, 8, 13, and 18 for the fanfic new year asks!
Alright let's go, thanks for the ask!! It got long so I put it under the cut
3. Do you anticipate writing for a new fandom this year? Which one?
Honestly, I probably will! I've only put out two fics and one original work so far, so there's a good chance of getting attacked by a fic idea for something else and writing it. Currently I've been back in the Top Gun: Maverick brainrot so it might be that!
5. Which WIP is first on your list to complete this year? Will you post a snippet?
You probably guessed this one but I'm hoping to wrap up Project Jade sometime this year (probably in summer), it's been the one I've been working on for over a year now. Although some shorter fics might happen before that if inspiration strikes. For a snippet, you can have this one from a later chapter:
Her eyes flitted over to the closet door. Inside, underneath her box of winter shoes, lay hidden the files. Had she known how much hell those pieces of paper would raise for them, she never would have opened her mouth in that hallway. Never.
They'd decided keeping the files close and secret was the best plan of action for the moment. They didn't know what else to do but hold on to them and wait until an opportunity to do some real damage presented itself - that's why they were waiting.
That's what Freya kept telling herself, anyways. That's and what she and Oscar had agreed on. But in truth, there was another thing at play. She knew what kind of power those files possessed, and she was scared shitless. They had seen first-hand the ramifications of interfering with the wrong people, and she wanted nothing more than to forget about it all. To stop worrying about who was going to drop dead next. But it couldn't be nearly that simple.
So she closed the notebook, threw a pillow onto the floor next to Oscar with his laptop, and took a seat. "Alright, what now?"
"You're the green chicken," he hurried to explain, pointing at the avatar of a neon green hen with a comically large knife in its beak. "You have the arrows to move, Q for attack, and- Hey, stop laughing! This is deadly serious," he chided, but she couldn't help but crack up too as they locked eyes. As far as distractions went, this would do just fine.
6. Which yet-to-be-started fic is first on your list?
Like I said I've been thinking about Top Gun: Maverick a lot and I've got a pretty detailed idea for a 5+1 fic about Mav and Rooster over the course of the kid's life. More specifically it's five moments when Mav has to parent Bradley after Goose's death and has no idea what he's doing, and then one time when he knows exactly what to do (at the end of the movie, unsurprisingly).
8. Is there a story idea in your mental vault that you’ve never been brave enough to try writing? Is this the year? Can you tell us about it?
At some point I'd really love to try writing something more dystopian or apocalyptic (or post-apocalyptic), I adore those kind of settings. I have some vague ideas but nothing concrete yet, and honestly I doubt anything's gonna happen this year cause I already have a big project on my hands. Hopefully sometime in the future though!
13. Aside from fanfic, are there any other fan works you’d like to try creating? Fanart, or fanvids, gifsets, or podfic?
I occasionally do some drawing and fanart, so I'd love to do more of that if I have time. Learning how to draw people has been a pain in the ass but getting better at drawing characters is the current goal. Gotta do my blorbos justice.
18. Do you typically post multi-chapters as you write, or finish it all and then start posting? Would you like to change your posting method?
I've done one two-parter and one longer multi-chapter thing, and for both I did something in between. I like to have a fair amount written for the whole thing before posting anything, and then I write the missing bits and edit chapter by chapter as I go. It does result in pretty inconsistent posting but I'm a sucker for feedback and wanting to post it helps with motivation, so I'm sticking with it for the moment.
#local woman has zero ability to be concise#but again thanks for the ask they were great picks!!#i guess these past two years i've really kinda accepted being a writer (as a hobby ofc)#while before it was just a thing i secretly did sometimes lol#so it's been good and i hope it gets even better#ask games#we write at dawn#noodle rambles

Alright I gotta read batman and robin rebirth now. That's hilarious.
How's Morrison?
I've been reading batman: urban legends and zdarsky's take of batman origin (Batman: The Knight). Urban legends v1 has a red hood story. I've quite liked zdarsky's writing.
There's a lot of different reading lists but I've kind of just been rolling with what I find available. I do plan to read batman: year one, batman: long halloween, etc. since I can get them through my library.
On animated stuff:
The supersons movie with Damian Wayne and Jonathan Kent is fun. I've been watching Gotham, batman the animated series (rewatching after many years), and young justice. My adventures with superman season 2 just finished and it's a very fun and good take of superman.
I think I'm going to get into azrael comics some. Sometimes you just want a blorbo struggling with religious doctrine and mental health. (There's a hell lot of PTSD as well. Take pit madness red hood and shift that two steps to the left. That's azrael aka jean Paul valley.)
If you want fanfic recs, feel free to ask. I have a lot of batfamily bookmarked on ao3. I also just posted one multi crossover (DcxNvxDpxGf) and my first batfamily fanfics.
o/ thanks for putting batfam content on my dash, I've been reading the batman comics and am obsessed
Let's goo. Got a moot into my (ever returning) obsession!
Hope you're enjoying. Which comics are you reading?

Nice to be back in my academic mode, I have much desire to pick apart and analyze this rock band text and zero to continue writing on my own creative projects.
