I have a Velaryon family headcanon/image to suggest which is really just Corlys playing in the water with tiny Laenor and Laena, while Rhaenys watches amused at them not caring about the cold, keeping her gaze between her little dragons swimming like fish and bounding through waves without a care, and tiny hatchling Seasmoke doing his best to catch tadpoles and baitstealers in the shallows while avoiding water itself.

Toddler Laena presenting her with a haphazard sandcastle with the same pride as Seasmoke struts around with when he's finally caught a tiny fish.

I'm rereading What Lurks Beneath and got to this panel-

-and at first I thought it was meant to be some sort of foreshadowing to the Tide perhaps having some actual abilities (mixed feeling on that), I ended up googling how long hermit crabs can live in the wild aand-

yeah! no wonder they think that thing is immortal lol feral cats have a lifespan of 2-3 years and it probably doesn't help the cats in WLB are starving and definitely dying earlier than that.

#my habit of comic reading is to wait for a chapter to finish then reread the entirety of the comic so I can refresh myself #once i get to the new chapter #someone in the comments pitched the idea theyre replacing the crab #which is very funny to me. but i think it's a well fed hermit crab who's outliving a bunch of starving feral cats #after this reread im gonna read the exiled! i've been eyeing it for a while now #and then i gotta catch up with saltburn
