2024 Art Summary!

Artist notes/ramblings under the cut

January - March: A lot of the art I did during this time was mostly doodles and sketches that I didn't post anywhere, but during this time I did start planning the test comic project for my story, Startrails!

April: Only art that I posted during this was the art of one of my Startrails characters, Mira.

May: I finished the test comic during this! It was a great practice to do and it gave me a lot of insight on what part of the comic process I should work on so it flows more smoothly for myself. And it was really cool to see my two main characters in a comic format qvq

June: On June, I wanted to do a bigger illustration to practice backgrounds more. And since I was in a Splatoon mood at the time, I went and drew a nice little scene of some inklings and octolings hanging out in the locker room before a match.

July: Artfight month!! I was team Stardust this year, and the art featured in this art summary was a character by @/artisticdragons. I'm honestly proud I drew as much as I did for artfight!

August: Earlier in January, I had started and finished playing Outer WIlds (along with the DLC) and around here was when the brainrot returned tenfold and had be in its clutches. This was one of the many silly doodles I did for the game

September: Major outer wilds spoilers for this art! But this here was the comic I spent a little over a month working on. A comic inspired by an Undertale quote that I felt really encapsulates Hatchling's journey. I also posted this on Twitter and it got noticed by both Mobius Digital and got a comment by Andrew Prahlow and I'm still losing my mind over that qwq

October: Outer Wilds DLC spoilers here! I drew a lot for October bc during this, I was participating in an Outer Wilds Inktober event ^^ This art was something I did as a little bit of a break from the inktober stuff. But also bc the DLC gave me a lot of feelings and I had to draw them out

November - December: During this time, the Outer Wilds server I joined created our own Nomai clan so I spent.. So Much time drawing mostly Nomai ocs djdfg. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed being able to be silly with my art and participate in this group endeavor!

Overall, I'm proud of how much I was able to draw this year despite juggling a full time job that would usually leave me too drained and tired to draw. Some days it's still difficult to keep drawing but joining a group of creatives really inspired me to create for fun.

I'm hoping to continue creating art next year, maybe make more fanart of stuff I love. And absolutely hoping to draw more oc stuff, especially of my story, Startrails! :)

I loved seeing everyone else’s interpretations for each of the prompts. This is the second Inktober I’ve ever done and I couldn’t be more happier. Thanks to Blackido for the template as always! It was a great way to get ideas because I wanted to draw more PT but I didn’t have ideas lul.

So, what have I been up to...? Since I was in Tumblr's spam-bot prison for more than 5 months, I thought I would create a little ICYMI post. (That's "In-Case-You-Missed-It" for the old folks like myself that have to look up all these new acronyms.) Basically, I'm gonna highlight/link to some of the posts I made this year, and you can check them out if you like. :) I didn't want to necessarily do a bunch of reblogs of my own content and clog up the system or something...

I confess, I haven't made too many wallpapers this year. But it's September now, and I have a thought rolling around in my head. We'll see. The archive of wallpapers is here.

Speaking of, so many cool wallpapers came out for Ever Crisis, and I've posted them all! Find them here, at the bottom of this archive post. I swear I'll eventually beat TFS season 1, but...they sure made it difficult for people who don't purchase their packs.

Did you know that Tumblr is feeding your posts(including reblogs) to theird party AI? Well, they are, and you can set it to be prevented in your settings. I talked about it here.

Rebirth coming out was the biggest thing this year, and I made my first manipulation for it back in March! You can see the post here, as well as a simple tutorial for it using GIMP(GNU Image Manipulation Program, free at gimp.org) here.

I also made a second manipulation for Rebirth! If you want to see the additional dialogue that goes with it, that's here.

When I played the demo for Rebirth, I noticed that they had changed Sephiroth's eyes, and it reminded me of something...

Did you know that in Advent Children, Sephiroth's gloves are not as tight as in Remake and you can see his wrists? 😏Check it out! What? Of course this is important!

I took a look at Sephiroth and all his forms over the years. Then I did the same for Cloud.

My AO3 sefikura work In Death was finished on April 26th, and came with a special manipulation. That was also the first story where I was accused of writing non-con, when it obviously wasn't, so that was fun. If you need to hydrate, you can go drink that tea in the comments of, I think, chapter 16 and after. Several people have asked about a sequel, and I do have eventual plans. Hang in there.

I made my first(of many) Rebirth memes, which also came with a blank template.

it felt like yesterday when i was writing a message for lgc’s first anniversary and now that we’re celebrating the fifth one is something that shocks me sometimes! from starting off as a regular member, to a points and press mod, and now an admin that handles an array of tasks, i’ve seen quite a lot and if there’s anything that these anniversaries remind me of, it’s the dedication and commitment that everyone has to building and maintaining this community. i still remember seeing the first batch of muses receiving their 200 notoriety reward and the excitement and anticipation of wondering what that special 200 notoriety reward submit had to…well, 1,000 notoriety rewards happening! as someone who loves seeing the muses’ progression, it brings me joy whenever i see other muses reach certain milestones because not only does it show the dedication the mun has towards their muse, but the development the muse has gone through, just like the rp itself. legacy started off as a new rp but over time, changes and additions were made to make this rp awesome and a lot of that is thanks to everyone���s contributions. your suggestions, reactions, and even written posts, shaped legacy to be the way it is right now and will continue to do so in the future too! i’d also like to give a special shoutout to the past and present admod team members! legacy itself is quite a massive roleplay to take care of, but thank you so much for all of your effort and ideas! it makes me happy reading and seeing some of the projects being worked on behind the scenes from the admods and every time i hope that everyone else enjoys them too! as mentioned above, there are exciting things coming and i’m certain that the rest of 2024 and 2025 will be quite a ride too (trust me, some stuffs for 2025 have been planned since q2)! once again, thank you everyone for being a part of such a special moment and happy 5th anniversary to lgcrp!

Bobby considers Rozzie a good friend (no surprise there), and loves her singing! She often tries to suggest song ideas for Rozzie to write, usually having to do with love or romance. Rozzie thinks Bobby is nice, but is a bit off-put by all her lovey-dovey stuff, mainly because Rozzie hasn’t ever been interested in romantic stuff. She’s tried to make a song with her prompts, but hasn’t gotten very far.

CraftyCorn:

“Crafty’s my art sister from another mister! Love her artwork, dude!”

“Rozzie’s very nice! I love making art with her!”

Crafty is a bit shy around Rozzie at first, but they soon bond over their shared love of the arts! Crafty once designed an outfit for Rozzie’s performances, and in return, Rozzie wrote a song inspired by one of Crafty paintings.

Hoppy Hoppscotch:

“Hoppy’s so much fun! I love her energy! I bet she’d be tons of fun at a concert!”

“Rozzie’s so, so, so cool! …And really understanding, thankfully.”

Hoppy and Rozzie hit it off almost immediately, thanks to their shared tomboyishness. Rozzie tried to teach her to play the drums once. It… didn’t go so well. (Hoppy accidently tore one of the snare drums. Rozzie wasn’t upset, and the drum was easily fixed, but Hoppy decided that playing instruments probably wasn’t her thing.)

Catnap:

“Catnap seems chill! And… a little bit creepy, to be honest.”

“Rozzie’s music is lovely. But her sleep schedule could use some work.”

Rozzie doesn’t dislike CatNap, but she also can’t help but be somewhat unsettled by him. It doesn’t help that CatNap once snuck into Rozzie’s house to put her to sleep when he noticed she was up late working on a song. Catnap either doesn’t notice this, or doesn’t care. He like’s Rozzie’s music, especially her more relaxed songs.

PickyPiggy:

“Picky’s nice! She’s an awesome cook, and she’s got great taste in music!”

“Rozzie’s just peachy keen! And she likes country music, like me!”

Rozzie and Picky don’t immediately hit it off, as they have trouble finding any common ground, but they eventually find a mutual interest in country music! They probably discuss their favorite country musicians over snacks and stuff every so often.

KickinChicken:

“Kickin’s super cool! Dude’s got tons of style!”

“Rozzie rocks! She’s almost as cool as I am!”

Like with Hoppy, Kickin and Rozzie hit it off really quickly. Kickin also plays an instrument (specifically, he plays the bass guitar), so they frequently get together and have jam sessions! Him playing the bass is actually what gave Rozzie the idea to try and teach Hoppy the drums, so they could start a band together! It didn’t end up panning out, though…

Bubba Bubbaphant:

“That Bubba dude is really smart! I wish I was as good at remembering stuff as him.”

“Rozzie’s nice! And surprisingly calm when she’s not playing music.”

Bubba initially finds Rozzie to be a bit intense, but he eventually warms up to her once they interact when she’s not playing music, finding her to be actually pretty mellow and relaxed. Rozzie, on the other hand, took a liking to Bubba pretty quickly, being impressed by his memory and intelligence.

I’ll do Randy and Clever tomorrow probably (or I guess later today cuz it’s 3AM when I’m writing this)

The second part of my CatDog-related art dumps I had to post them in separate ways for some sort of reason featuring Cliff Feltbottom in the Draw Fanart of a Character challenge from X (formerly Twitter) I got for the second time to practice incorporating and participating Cliff between his original/canon and my style after I just did it for the first time with Finis Everglot from Corpse Bride on last year before New Year's Eve.

Tbh, drawing Cliff in his original/canon style/design was always more fun than ever. However, before I draw him, I was feel always so rather shy and awkward to give my intentions to draw him from some reference images I've screenshotted on some CatDog episodes in some ways.

So, anyway, I hope you enjoy it and I will share the next part of my art dumps or more in a while.

I just... Started posting? Like I just went to twitter (and Tumblr, once I started using it; same about TikTok) and posted the first little Daisy introduction post similar to this one, but less nicer and with Daisy's old design:

(I have deleted it because someone back then mentioned to me that the template was stolen from someone else, and since I didn't know the original person I decided to take it down)

I just started posting anything I had come up with about Daisy, mainly her relationship with Ruggie, until I gained a following here and on TikTok (I never got a following on Twitter I swear I tried that app is skdjkejsjd UGHHH–) and made a few friends :]

While I am scared of criticism the love that people gave for my art (and admittedly, my relationship with God as well) helped me be more confident with what I post, so I just do it as if it's second nature!

In short, I say just start posting, don't let anything hold you back from it but most importantly: have fun. I cannot stress this enough, if your art is only a hobby (or the things that your posting about are hobbies) then there's no pressure on getting great too quickly, or getting a following fast, as long as you're having a great time these things will come naturally, and if they don't, at least you're just having fun with it!

My art summary for 2023! ✨

This year I really wanted to focus on things I've been lacking, namely strong values, lighting and colour. I watched a bunch of online courses/seminars and studied the way other artists work. Slowly, I think I'm making improvements!

This year has been a weird one for being an artist. With everything happening, I don't get the same joy I used to from posting art. But I'm determined to maintain the joy in MAKING it, and I'm very lucky that I get to do so in shared art sessions with friends and supporters.

The vast majority of work I've made this year that I'm proud of was suggested by my patrons and Ko-fi supporters, who always give me fun, challenging or downright silly things to draw. I feel fortunate they're willing to gather for 2 hrs a week to watch me fumble around a drawing!

I also got to create art for two books (cover art) and a TTRPG (spot illustrations) this year, and feel very honoured to have been given the chance! Book illustration has always been my dream and I only hope to get more opportunities in the new year.

OH and I also did my first con in four years and got to give my Thancred art to Peter Bramhill, who then visited my table when I chose the WORST moment to go to the bathroom 😆 Who can forget that It's been a good year, and I'm very grateful for everyone's support!! 💜

It's fascinating seeing people go "I miss the wild west era of the internet" and then learn they were born in 2003

Like fuck off. By the time you're 6 it was dead. The cutoff is around 06/7, and even that's debateable to have ended earlier

If we're being brutally honest-

1993-1998: True Wild West. Not much could happen due to limited tech, but it was completely unmonitored. I'm honestly surprised to find archives of old chats on Google

1998: The Coppa act is established, further taking effect in 2000. This made people aware that kids can access the internet. Teens barely gave a shit, though it made corporations more aware of them, and how to consider them for a market. It also unfortunately promoted age fraud to access barred login sites

1999-2005/6: User oriented era. This is when a lot of custom sites, blogs, and forums popped up, as well as many image hosting sites that are sadly defunct now. Google being a popular search engine further encouraged discovering these user made sites. Contrary to popular belief, user sites were mostly made and "moderated" by edgy kids and teens, so you WILL see the opinion of a 14yr old. Incidentally, due to domains being expensive, a lot of these teen made forums and personal sites died extremely fast, ignoring raids, doxxing, and flamewars

Video sharing while possible also was really crappy for quality...except for

User created flash games and anims enabled a massive spread of content. Newgrounds was a popular hosting spot. Shame Flash died

Outside that, we least we got bbphp as a solid forum template be popularized after many other ones died. For those less tech savvy, in 2003

We got social media. This was the main goto till smartphones and Twitter got popularized after 2006, and still was going strong until mid 2010s. Despite older netiquette of being encouraged to not post anything indentifiable about yourself, many users expressed themselves with music tastes and eventual personal blogs

2005/6: YouTube is released, as well as Dailymotion. Bootlegged Newgrounds anims popped up for uploads, but also shared tv show clips

Fun thing, before mid 2010s, users can only upload at max 15min of video

Similarly around 2005, Reddit similarly sparked up. More modern image hosting sites spurred around 2007/8

But regardless, the public internet already changed massively after 2000. Web 2.0 was already a term from 1999 that described the change, with it being redefined for it occuring around 2004. I think one thing not noticed, the development of this tech mostly happened in the UK, due to general smaller population and faster telocommunication services compared to the US at the time. This similar impacted the type of audience that used this

I see people longing for a freer internet, and I agree online corporate control is shitty. But the dretches of humanity has severely stunted user diversity and interest, same with over prioritizing skill over general good collaboration and behavior. The modern tech bro absolutely not giving a shit for the userbase or societal problems and being very selfish can unfortunately be traced here. Same for rsmpant political misinformation being unmoderated, and early 90s fandom woes still having a negative impact on some franchises

Which brings the question, why are we trying to heavily get into monetizing expression? I genuinely feel Ytube enabling users to do so is exactly why user content got obnoxious after 2013 when it got popular. Unfortunately it's way too late to undo that. Many rely on the monetizing

Though I find it funny when people ignore just...making their own site to bypass the censorship. bbphp again is open source, and there are many other online web creation tools. I can't even say the rise of tech illiteracy is why, tech illiterate people aren't the ones complaining of sites crapping out

Okay explanation time: I saw some time ago on Twitter (now known as X) that someone made a poll with nukani ships, and if I don't misremember, it was mostly Eiden ships.

So I've decided to be a bit mean and make a popularity poll without Eiden (sorry babygirl...)

Here is the bracket in questions:

As you can see, there's 16 different ships. I used the tag system in AO3 to figure out which ships to include by picking the two to three most popular relationship tag in each character.

Example:

I go to the "Search Tag" tab, type in "Edmond (NU: carnival)" in the tag name, select the "relationship" option, sort by "Uses", sort direction "Descending", and done!

As you can see, I picked the two options most popular options that weren't Eiden, leaving me with Dante/Edmond and Yakumo/Edmond as the bracket participants.

Back to the bracket itself, here is a list with the chosen pairings:

The idea is simple, I make a silly post with each pairing at the side of a poll, and people vote! How fun :] You're free to like... Team up with your friends to vote for a specific ship or incetivise people to vote for a pairing. I don't care! I'm doing this for fun, and because I'm curious lil guy!

The posts would look something like this, I think...

I plan on releasing each match one day after the other, so in total round one would take about two weeks I believe (if we count from first day of first match to last day of last match).

The posts would go up on 22:00/10:00pm UTC, with the polls having a duration of one week as to have a large poll of voters.

Also, each match up was chosen randomly. Basically I used a random number generator and pulled two numbers at a time to determine which ship should go agaisnt which.

That's all, really. Round one of voting should be starting next week, with the team matches being:

Loon's last name is guadalupe for la virgen de guadalupe beecauseee fun fact! ladybugs are "the bug of the lady", since they are pest control and a lot of farmers prayed to Mary to help their crops get protected!

Loons twitter handle is a reference to how whenever i want to look up a picture of a ladybug for reference i get jumped by that 3d girl

Owynn has a blue tie because he's school council! vice president (Malva is the president)
