you know what i think violets dad has eds too and it led to his weak heart... lilith was just blind to his struggles because of her love for him. plus his vocation meant there was less strain on his body, making it less visible in the first place. lilith did see the issues in violet because as one of her children, violet should have been strong, and it was a kick in the teeth that she wasn't. the fever is a red herring, and just something to lay blame on. because this thing that's wrong with violet? it couldn't possibly have come from lilith's beloved husband.

lilith wasn't an idiot in this case, she just had very dark rose tinted glasses.
