Firstly, let me say how happy I am to be back blogging. Welcome back to The Love Apple. This time from The Big Apple :) Cannot believe that it’s been seven years since my last entry.

So much has changed though. Prague, this wonderful, old world romantic city eventually became my home for almost two years.

I thought it best that I continue the journey where I left off. There have been many Becherovka adventures in the past seven years on trips to Czech Republic and the rest of Eastern Europe.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Becherovka at all, it’s a spirit made from herbs, particularly cloves. Makes you feel very healthy but whatever you do, do not, I repeat DO NOT mix with wine or sparkling wine as you will have a hangover of note the next day !!!!

So two years in Prague have made me love some traditional Czech delicacies. I’ve had friends cook me the traditional Svickova. This is stew originally made  with beef sirloin in a vegetable cream sauce and served with a cranberry sauce. We were in a region of Czech Republic called Ostrava, so my friend’s felt they wanted to give me a country side experience so poor Bugs Bunny couldn’t outrun them this time :(

Usually served with bread dumplings as most Eastern European cuisine, I wasn’t a lover of the fact that we were eating rabbit, ( I know, it’s a strange double standard, cows are cute too, right ?) but the vegetable cream sauce was so delicious  that I could have eaten the sauce for days on various other meals :)

Now, based in New York, this city is not only known as the city of dreams where everything is at your fingertips at the touch of a button or the scroll down of a delivery menu at all hours of the day and night. So at least there’s  a way to ease my separation anxiety from Eastern European food as there’s a big Eastern European community in NYC and goulash (Hungarian style stew) or a kloubasa ( sausage) with sauerkraut is just a couple of blocks away. Prague will always hold a special place in my heart and I will always want those flavors as part of my culinary palate. #goodhonestfood #granniesrecipes  #stewsthatfeedanation

Yum yum! Great value quality food. A must to stop over whilst in MBK shopping. Pad Ka Pra, mince pork with Thai basil and fried egg is my absolute favourite. TIP: If you have a BTS Skytrain Rabbit card it will be accepted at the counters for payment.
