you heard a knock at your door, despite it being really late you recognized that specific knock. you opened the door to face jude, you looked at him with no expression, jude was always really bold and vocal so instead of saying something he pushed you out the way to let himself in your loft. he was watching the window looking at piccadilly circus, watching the rain hit your windows. you sat down on your couch and he follows. the silence was thick, you don’t even wanna look at him because of how embarrassed you were. “what’s wrong baby..” he says softly, moving closer to you. you wanted to touch him so bad but you held back. he started kissing your shoulders and neck as he tries to take off your shirt. “no..” you say pushing him off.

“what did i do?” he exclaimed “im tired of you stepping all over me jude. i need you to leave” he left without a pause, didn’t even try fighting for you but that just shows you that he doesn’t deserve you.

it was new year’s eve. you haven’t spoken to jude since that moment where you didn’t have sex with him, you stood up for yourself and he didn’t expect it. your instagram wasn’t that big so every time you posted on your story you saw him lurking. he was still watching you from far, scoping out when he could contact you.

you could care less about what he does, you deleted everything that was associated with him. during your healing stages you missed him so much to the point where you’ve completely stopped watching football. his brother often messages you trying to see if you were good, even as going as far as calling his own blood a complete dumbass, but your heart was so heavy and full of love that you told him to not speak ill of his older brother.

his parents were well aware about what happened between you and jude, and it was safe to say they were on your side but understandably kept their distance because they still want to have loyalty for their son.

you were on a date with another guy and you were both sitting inside of an italian restaurant in front of the window with the view of the street, you were in the heart of london, giggling and sharing a bottle of wine. his smile bringing butterflies to your stomach, you haven’t felt like this in so long. the streets were filled with drunk, and loud people, it was a minute till count down so you and your date got up and went to the bar to celebrate the new year with a kiss.

you and your dates lips touch as you melt into his embrace, you forgot about everything bad in the past year. the kiss was short yet so passionate, you pulled away looking into his eyes and you felt a pair of eyes burning into your skull, you look across the room; your stomach dropping with a pair of familiar eyes looking at you with disbelief. you turn away bringing your date back to your table.

jude was hurt, you moved on to better things meanwhile he was left in the dark, he had no one else to blame but himself.

I'm going with 10 All Time Classics from the Captain America (MCU) fandom. I mean, they're all classics to me, at least. In no particular order:

1. This, You Protect by owlet

First installment in the Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail series, which are all amazing. It's a “Bucky escaping Hydra and rebuilding his sense of self” fic, which he does while spying on Steve. With eventual Avengers Family and a lovely cast of OCs bonding with Bucky in the meantime. It has a very distinctive perspective and writing style; Bucky's in constant internal (and sometimes accidentally external) dialogue with himself, making it hilarious and tragic all at the same time. I love it. I've recently been getting into The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells and this Bucky has a similar sassy-but-vulnerable vibe? Read this if you like that, anyway.

2. The One Who Knows by Dira Sudis (dsudis)

This is a Political Animals AU, in that no-powers Steve is inserted into the Political Animals world and Bucky is TJ. Discusses being outed and depression but is ultimately hopeful. The author is one of my all time faves and has written lots of great stories for this and many other fandoms.

3. Blue Scales by chaya

Steve is a merman AU. He's still Captain America, though. It's crack with heart, I love it.

Best line: "May your scales and your love story be our weird secret forever.”

4. Our Lingering Frost by eyres

AU where Bucky is rescued from Hydra in the 50s (?) and so is around for Steve to be found.

5. Assets Out of Containment by follow_the_sun

It's a classic to *me*, OK? Bucky goes undercover at Jurassic World just as that movie's plot kicks off. They're Hydra dinosaurs! It's just great. Also has a podfic and crossovers with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

6. Not Easily Conquered (series) by dropdeaddream and WhatAreFears

Some of the greatest fanfiction I've ever read, the whole series is epic. Anyway, it's a "Steve doesn't go into the ice" AU with added queer angst when (never sent) love letters from Bucky resurface. I particularly like the second installment in the series The Thirteen Letters, which are just Bucky's letters and are insanely well-written.

7. to memory now I can't recall by Etharei

Time travel AU! Featuring post-CATWS Bucky accidentally switching places with CATFA era Bucky.

8. If Wishing Made It So by Leveragehunters (Monkeygreen)

Genie!Bucky AU! This author is great at writing AUs with fantasy/genre elements, it was hard to choose. They've also written an excellent werewolf!Steve AU and a horse!Steve AU that I really love.

9. Into That Good Night by Nonymos

An Interstellar AU! Very angsty and tragic but with an eventual happy ending.

10. Goodbye Piccadilly, Farewell Leicester Square by Speranza

Speranza must be one of the best writers in the fandom, so it was hard to pick just one of their fics. Other strong contenders were All the Angels and the Saints and The Fifties, so check those out too! But this one has a special place in my heart. Steve, Tony and Natasha accidentally time travel to WW2 London, leading to an accidental run-in with CATFA-era Bucky. The author does tragic and romantic time travel tropes so well, but with a happy ending.

I now realise that most of these are AUs, so here’s a bonus rec for a non-AU in-universe story that’s severely underrated and deserves more love:

Heart, Have No Pity on this House of Bone by Sena

This story follows Bucky in-action in the Pacific Theatre. It’s very well written and, from what I can tell, well researched. Steve only appears in Bucky’s imagination and the story focuses on the horrors of war rather than romance, but it’s gripping! And it explores unrequited love, being closeted and period-typical homophobia, which I also enjoyed. I’m still holding out hope for a sequel.

Martin Allen was a 15-year-old boy living in Kensington, London. He had grown up in a council flat before his father was employed as a chauffeur to the Australian High Commissioner. This new career meant that the young family could move to a cottage in the grounds of the Australian High Commission in the prosperous Kensington area.

It was the 5th of November, 1979, and Martin was travelling home from Central Foundation Grammar School on the London Underground. The last time anybody saw Martin was at King’s Cross station at around 3:50PM when he said goodbye to one of his school friends. Afterwards, he walked into the short tunneled passageway that leads to the west-bound Piccadilly Line train that would take him towards his home. Some reports would later say Martin’s brother saw him at home at around 5PM before he headed straight back out.

What’s known, however, is that Martin disappeared at some point during this day.

Within days of his disappearance, the police launched a major enquiry. A witness came forward to say that they had seen a suspicious man accompanying a boy that looked like Martin at the Gloucester Road underground station at around 4:15PM. The witness said that the man had his arm around the teenage boy who appeared to be distressed.

Afterwards, he saw the two board a West-bound train at the tube station despite the fact this station was the one closest to Martin’s home. He described the strange man as around 6 feet tall, in his 30s, well built and wearing a denim jacket. The witness heard the man tell the boy: “Don’t try to run.” Following the witness coming forward, an investigation found five other witnesses who saw the blonde man and boy.

Despite an exhaustive search, the man was never identified.

Early on in the investigation, Martin’s brother alleged that the detective told his family that there were “high-up people involved” in his disappearance and that they should stop looking for Martin and “not take it further because someone will get hurt.” Over the years, theories have abounded.

In 1998, police found a shrine to Martin in the house of an alleged pedophile who had a headstone engraved “In Memory of Martin Allen.” No evidence could tie him to the disappearance, however. At one point, police questioned serial killer Dennis Nilsen but again, no evidence could link him to the disappearance. There was even some speculation that Martin was abducted and murdered by a local pedophile ring, operating out of a local hotel.

To this date, the whereabouts of Martin Allen remains a mystery. Both his parents have passed away without knowing what happened to their son.

Glenna Golding Headcanons

Here are some of my head canons and interpretations for Glenna Golding. I probably forgot some and I am still trying to figure her out, so let me know if you want more or have any questions about my version of her.

Glenna Merriweather was born in 1959 to Tiburon Merriweather and Isla Barrett, to Tiburon’s delight she showed an ability for magic at a young age. She also had a squib sister named Bridget who was sixteen years older than her

As a young child Glenna was primarily cared for by her mother and older sister who she was quite attached to. However, Glenna lost her mother when she was three years old and her sister left Hogsmeade a year later. Following that she was primarily raised by her father and her stepmother, Mirtha Quigley

Glenna grew up in Hogsmeade and adored exploring the village and the people there. She was always closer to her father than to her stepmother but got along with Mirtha for the most part. Although she did notice Mirtha’s prejudices for people who were not of a proper blood status

Morven Merriweather claims that one of the greatest traits of the Merriweather Family is their courage. Glenna’s favorite class is charms enjoy learning various spells and how they can be applied. Meanwhile, her least favorite class is transfiguration, she always found the class difficult and barely passed every year often due to a transfiguration mishap

After Hogwarts she got a career at the Muggle Worthy Excuse Committee. Having a wild imagination and a creative spirit. However a lot of her ideas were typically shut down for being too dramatic. While she did understand why some were shut down, she did wish some of her more creative ideas were considered to prevent bland headlines

Working at the Ministry gave her an excuse to explore London whenever she wasn’t busy with work. One of her favorite things to do in the city was visit bookshops, particularly muggle ones. One day, she read ‘The Long Goodbye’ and ever since then, she developed a passion for old muggle mystery novels.

Her wanderings also occurred at the Ministry of Magic. One of them brought her to the Department of Mysteries who were not pleased by her preference. She was escorted back to level 3 of the Ministry by Aurelia Hearst and to the boss of her entire department, Nicolas Hearst, the woman’s husband. Glenna was surprised to the present day that she didn’t end up fired after that.

She met Shane Golding when he was brought in for questioning about performing Magic at the Piccadilly Circus. While she acted professional in that moment she did quickly develop feelings for him and she asked him out on a date to the Leaky Cauldron where the two learned more about each other.

Shane gifted his wife a black and white kneazle on their first Christmas together following their marriage. Being a fan of muggle detective novels, she named the kneazle Marlowe.

A year after her father’s death, Glenna gave birth to a son whom she and Shane named Nyle Golding. A few years later they learned that he was a squib, a fact that Glenna and Shane accepted and read muggle books to help him. However, Glenna’s stepmother who still lived with them in the Merriweather house expressed her prejudiced beliefs which angered Glenna and give her stepmother an ultimatum, accept Nyle and what she and Glenna want for him, or leave, Mirtha chose the latter.

Shane’s death hit Glenna hard and she went into a long period of grief. Glenna quit her job at the ministry needing a break and change of pace. She primarily stayed at Hogsmeade not talking with as much people as she used to. She also avoided Madam Puddifoots since it reminds her of love and romance which in turn reminded her of Shane.

Glenna never gave up on trying to find a chance to reunite with her older sister, believing they would meet again one day. Especially since she was so close to getting the chance when she was twenty but her sister never came for the funeral of the postmaster at Hogsmeade like deceased postmaster’s colleague believed she would. In turn, when Glenna saw the chance at finding a girl who could possibly be her sister’s granddaughter, she took it.

It was a late start to the day, but Arthur supposed that was simply the price of being an author. After a mighty stretch, he braved the hallways to procure some coffee.

Gleaning from the sun rays filtering in through the windows, he reckoned it must be a bit past noon. A smile graced his face, knowing she would be in the kitchen at about this time. A chipper hum flowed through him.

Taking a brief pause just before his entrance, Arthur’s smile grew wider as he heard the quiet shuffle of feet beyond the door. He froze then, becoming even more grateful that he’d taken the time to listen in.

Within the kitchen, her voice took up a small tune; she was singing the very tune that he had finished just a moment before.

♪ “Goodbye Piccadilly, farewell Leicester Square~ It’s a long, long way to Tipperary, but my heart’s right there.” ♪

There was a strange flutter in his chest, followed by a warmth he’d long grown disaccustomed to. Had the two of them been on the same wavelength? Arthur found himself liking the idea of that. Why, he’d liked that idea far too much.

Not so fond of the idea of waiting any longer, Arthur made a far more excited entrance than he’d initially planned.

“Why, I didn’t know you were a songbird! You should have told me, luv,” Arthur’s lilted voice made her jump, but she turned toward him with a shy smile.

“You’re waking up rather late today,” she teased.

“A writer’s work is never done, I'm afraid. We simply rest our eyes for a few hours here and there until we can fuel up on coffee made by beautiful morning birds.”

Her cheeks were determined not to grow any pinker, but it was a challenge. She brought up a cup and began brewing.

“Speaking of…” Arthur stifled his enthusiasm as he broke the brief silence. “I would have thought the only music you and I would both know would be one of Wolfie’s. I’d never imagine you’d know It’s A Long Way to Piccadilly.”

She chuckled, “I’m actually pretty sure Mozart’s pieces are the only songs we both knew.”

Arthur blinked, puzzled. “But you were just singing it word-for-word?”

Her eyebrow raised as she wrapped up her coffee preparations. “Arthur, you sing that song practically every day. I’ve picked up the words pretty quickly from it,” she giggled. “I used to think it was just when you were at your happiest, but really it’s just all the time,” she grinned, handing over his cup.

Bugger me... There went that damned fluttering again.

“No, luv, I think you were spot on. I think the amount of happy days have simply grown exponentially as of late.”

“Oh? Well that’s good!”

Arthur nodded, the warmth within him threatening to combust. “I think so, too.”
