sally jackson’s son and his girlfriend are:
a) completely obsessed with each other
b) hormonal teenagers
c) highly trained in stealth
and, like we learned in cotg, percy’s bedroom window opens into the fire escape. any mother’s worst nightmare, except for sally jackson, whose son went to hell, so she’s probably fine in the grand scheme of things

Spoiler alert, this will contain spoilers of the Percy Jackson tv series!
So, I’ve now watched the first two episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and wow! I don’t even know where to begin!
First of all, was that a Rick cameo I saw in the principal’s office?! 😆😆😆❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
Second, I love how Percy describes his feelings of being different to Sally. As someone who has ADHD myself, (and autism too) I am more than familiar with that feeling of other-ness. I was also diagnosed less than two months ago, mere weeks before my twenty first birth day. Which I also think is fairly well portrayed in Percy’s description, because even though he has a diagnosis already, the things he experience STILL can’t be explained by being neurodivergent, just like someone with undiagnosed neurodivergence can’t explain why they’re different beyond just quirkiness.
Harsh of Grover to just “rat him out” but it works much better than having to do another montage to the end of term.
While it’s not really accurate, I also love how Sally handles Smelly Gabe. Like a Queen! She’s a clear sighted mortal, Gabe is a looser who’s nowhere near as scary as everything else she must protect her son from.
THEY INCLUDED THE BLUE CANDY!!!!
The bullfighting with the Minotaur. A masterpiece. In this adaptation, Percy already has Anaklusmos, but he still has to kill the monster with his bare hands because he doesn’t yet know it returns to his pocket! I’ll admit I was a bit worried about that scene.
“You drool in your sleep”
There was some backlash over Annabeth’s casting, but Leah really is the perfect Annabeth. She might not be blond or look like book Annabeth in any other way, but unlike the Peter Johnson movies, they nailed the personality.
The same basically goes for Clarisse.
Dionysus’ portrayal is different from what I expected. I’m not saying that’s good or bad yet, the jury’s still out.
I don’t know if that dryad is supposed to be Grover’s mom, but unless coming episodes disproves it, I’m going with that. I don’t think Grover has ever mentioned his mother in the books, which is a shame, like come on! We even know Coach Hedge’s mother is a cloud nymph. I wanna know everything about Grover’s mom now.
As someone who does archery, that scene in the second episode solidifies a little headcanon of mine. That Percy uses the wrong equipment. You see, archery isn’t as much about which is your dominant hand as about your dominant eye. Most people are right eyed, but some people (myself included) are left eyed, and need a left bow. If I use the wrong bow, it becomes nearly impossible for me to aim. Also, archery is a sport that depends a lot on the equipment. It’s part skill, part how good the equipment is for you. There is no way Percy could be as bad as he is always described unless there’s he is also using the wrong equipment. (I really should include that in a fic sometime!)
Overall I’m really excited for the coming episodes! There is a lot more to point and squeal at, but I’m so excited I can’t sit still long enough to write it all out!

Percy Jackson spoilers episode 8
I'm not joking, i commented everything.
(i'm putting the episode in pause to write everything... So i don't have to do 10000 posts about this episode, so if you are reading this, hold your horses because this is going to be a long post (probably) not edited, from a person watching this in Europe starting to watch this at 3:11 am... And English is not my first language, so...sorry before hand)
LUKE!!! LUKE TALKING?! REALLY?! LIKE... COME ON!!! Don't do this to me... Not me vibing with the foreshadowing just in the begining of the episode.
THOSE WHO WENT ALL "WUAHHH WHERE'S THE TRAING LESSON FROM LUKE?" HERE IT IS!!! YOU REALLY THOUGHT THEY WON'T SHOW IT BEFORE MAKING PERCY FIGHT A GOD?! (I mean, they could have...but come on!... That would have being insane and would have make Percy to op and this works perfectly to remind us the "bond" between Percy and Luke at camp, just before what readers knew It was going to happen)
Oh~ i love the Ares doesn't take well that others think he can't have a single original thought... But i LOVE more that he literally decided to go with the "say hi to your mommy for me" like... Ares my man, god of war, sir... You fucked up so badly with just that... That kid is going to make Hephaestus and his chain-net over you and Aphrodite look like a fun story after Percy "son of Sally" Jackson finish humilliate you.
Aaaaand we got golden Blood + enemy for Life (Where's the curse, sir? Where's the "your sword will fail you when you most need it"?)
Uh! Pretty helmet~ I said it before, and i repeat myself, Hades has good taste in art.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the "the last war on olympus caused wwii" and not like the book, i like It better this way, like "everything is the gods fault" because It is. (I'm sure Luke will comment this at some point)
Also, Annabeth clueless because she wasn't there... I'm like, yeah, it's the one of the trio that could catch up just by context, she IS the wise girl after all.
THE NECKLACE WITH HER FATHER'S RING!!! OMG!!!! ANNABETH, DARLING, DEAR... I LOVE THIS, SO MUCH.
(Leah is Annabeth, look at her!!! If someone says something bad about her acting just because their racism... i hope Apollo write their names in the plague list or the bad music for the rest of their lifes one... I hope there's a list for that)
Grover: e-mail? Maybe?
Percy: *nah, it's time those gods know what they are dealing with* what's the Glory on that?
(Walter, dear boy, your face in that moment...perfect Percy moment just there)
OH MY GODS!!! I NEED A TOUR IN THAT OLYMPUS!!! but again...WHY THE FUCKING ARCHES?!?!?!
Tumblr media
Okay... Hold on! HOLD ON!!! THEY DID A THING HERE I THINK COULD EXPLAIN THE FUCKING ARCHES...THE ARCHERS MIGHT NOT GIVE ME NIGHTMARES.
(Look behind, there are temples with easter asian architecture and i spot a building that reminds me a bit of Santa Sofia or Saint Peter of the Vatican... So... Maybe they are implying that not only the greek gods are chilling there in olympus? That could be interesting.)
Luke, i'm seeing you...
WoW!! Wooooo!!! Not the Annabeth IS terrify of spiders coming now and from him, Luke himself, just to say "hey! Demigods are small but if the gods thinks you are scary they'll kill you" GODS they are MAKING Luke soooo much justice, like, he needs to be like this if they didn't portrait him like this "big brother figure" it would be incomprehensible that so many Demigods will follow him. He IS a leader. He IS reliable.
Tumblr media
Seriously, i'm in LOVE with all that Big city vibe of the olympus... Like... I Understand why Annabeth wants to be architect after seeing all that. (Disney, you better give us something good in the 5th season, and i have high hopes for the laberinth after seeing this)
I'm so sad about the death of Zeus actor... I'm liking a lot how he is acting Zeus, like a fucking CEO know-it-all Who thinks Percy is wasting his time saying things he already know but doesn't want to believe yet. "I will not be weaken by my brothers" darling, Zeus, that's the youngest brother part of you speaking. Shut the fuck up and listen to the kid.
Percy speaks facts.
Oh!!! Daddy Ken, i mean, Poseidon is here, protecting his kid~. (Better solution than turning him into a tree, actually showing up, heh!)
BEG YOUR FUCKING PARDON!? IM ALREADY EMOTIONAL BECAUSE MY OTHER FICTIONAL FATHER FIGURE IN MY OTHER SILLY SHOW MIGHT DIE THIS FRYDAY... WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU MADE POSEIDON SAY "I SURRENDER" TWICE!!! TO FUCKING ZEUS!!! TO PROTECT PERCY?! I FUCKING LOVE THE SHOW.
Hermes IS the FUCKING snitch of the olympus.
Poseidon : "Who knows about father?"
Zeus: "Ares, Hades, you, i... And fucking Hermes so..."
Both: "everyone, then..."
He really asked Mr. Impertinent if he is obedient?! Hahahaha... Poseidon, dear beach daddy, sir... He is yours and Sally's, what makes you think he'll be obedient?!
"Ares IS a moron" sooooo ... Percy speaks facts because he speaks his father language then. Sorry, this is funnier than i thought It would be. Poseidon being an affectionate father for like 3 seconds before the daddy issues kicked in and push his son away with magic...
Tumblr media
THIS. This here with the victorius Hero looking at the defeated who even "dead" had safe his life. Because the mention of Thalia's death was enough for Zeus to spare Percy's life... She had save Percy by being dead and make her father feel guilty for that. Also, he left camp making jokes about the tree and Thalia's death, and look how serious and respectful he looks now. Admiring that tree, Thalia, and all what she means to the demigods... (Maybe i'm reading too much into It, but i liked this frames too much)
Did i spot a pair of twins?! I need the second season NOW and i'm not even half way of the last episode of the first one...
SECOND HUG OF ANNABETH TO PERCY!!! AND HE IS SMILING!!! BOY I WANT TO HUG THEM BOTH... MY BABYS...
Oh~ they are going to do this "Clarise IS guilty but we couldn't risk a war here" to the end so the show watchers don't see It coming. Okay... I like how they are doing this.
Luke and Percy alone in the forest while Annabeth watches Clarise... Yeah... This is it.
I like the lights changing colors because of the fireworks but just giving more dramatic contrast to all the scene. Oh~ Luke's face... My gods!! (These kids are making me insane with how good actors they are!!!)
Luke trying to recruit Percy because he sees himself reflected in Percy, with their mothers suffering because of the gods. "This wasn't to betray you Percy. My enemies are the gods." SEE!!! RIGHT THERE!!! THAT'S A BOY ABOUT TO REBEL AGAINST HIS FATHER, TRYING TO RECRUIT HIS FRIENDS BECAUSE HE IS RIGHT BUT USING THE WORSE WAYS POSSIBLE TO DO THINGS!!!
I said it before, and i'm saying It again... I LOVE THE SHOW.
BACKBITER!!!!! OH MY GODS!!! THAT SWORD IS...HAVE YOU ALL SEE THAT!!! IT FUCKING CUT ANYTHING.
"WE is the word Zeus fear most." And again, as i said above, he is so RIGHT and so wrong at the same time. Luke speech is a 10/10
Percy's reaction. PERCY'S REACTION!!! first to Luke's speech. And then when he wounded Luke with his own sword, he INMEDIATELY apologize to him. "Sorry, i didn't mean to..." Because he knows Luke is being manipulated by Cronos, he still sees him as a friend. And that's why he is scared, also because Luke cut him back, but because his friend is choosing to betray him.
WOOOO!!! ANNABETH?! WOOOOO... LUKE'S FACE!!! ANNABETH'S FACE!!! MY GODS!!! THOSE KIDS!!!
Chiron: "Cronos is persuasive"
Percy: "i'm a seaweed brain, stubborn as fuck... I'll be fine..."
I love Dionysus. Like...
Dionysus: "wait, wait, wait... Peter Johnson, why is everyone calling you Percy?"
Percy: "i'm Percy Jackson, that's my name"
Dionysus: "are you sure? You don't look like a Percy to me, Peter"
A seaweed brain, has being delivered and i'm vibing, living, happy...
ANNABETH IS GOING TO DISNEYWORLD AND PERCY SMILING MADE HER WORRY SHE WILL BE IN TROUBLE THERE!!! SHE IS SO ADORABLE!!! I'LL PROTECT THAT CHILD WITH MY LIFE, I SWEAR TO ALL THE GODS!!!
Grover!!! GROVER TELLING PERCY HE IS GOING TO SEARCH FOR PAN IN THE SEA!!! AND PERCY ACTING LIKE A NEPO BABY!!! LOVED IT!!!
Baby coming back to the beach House... Sally!!!!!!!!!!
Nooooooooooo... Fucking Cronos!!!!
Sally: *all worried* "another nightmare?"
Persassy: "grampa"
Sally: *i swear i saw her roll her eyes* "don't call him that"
I LIKE THE END OF GABE!!!! FUCK YOU GABE!!! Sally is divorcing him, change the locks and his first question to his lawyer is if he knows how to pick a lock... Fuck you, Gabe~
He turning himself into a statue because he opened a box for Percy (wich IS illegal) and after he called the head of Medusa gross... Poetic justice.
(i'm ending to watch this and write this at 5:22... My brain isn't braining anymore. So... Tomorrow i'll post a separated part about the thrones of the gods and maybe trying to put my degree in good use and picking all the art references i could and make a post about them)

My thoughts as I watched the Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1 on Disney+
Episode by episode random thoughts below, but overall I loved it. The actors are really good at what they do and I love who they chose as Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Luke, Clarisse… etc.. all of them were fun to watch.
Yeah I was disappointed with the ways many of the scenes were done, but I also don’t think an exact copy of the book would have been relevant now. It’s definitely been adjusted to suit the time period and just because they were changed doesn’t automatically make them all bad changes.
Tumblr media
Episode 1:
They’ve definitely made some changes which is obvious. They always do. But I love Walker as Percy. He does such a good job. “Okay… Why?” Was hilarious.
Somehow they made Sally even more amazing and her “death” even more sad. Though it’s an interesting change to make Sally do a lot of what Book Percy did in that fight.
Episode 2:
Luke and Percy’s relationship is making what’s coming even worse! The pat on Percy’s shoulder when leave Hephaestus’ cabin 😢 they are really showing how close Luke made himself to Percy.
Percy’s sass! Him during the waiting time of capture the flag was perfect
I kinda wish they had kneeled when he was claimed but meh I’m still good with this.
“I am Sally Jackson’s son!”
Episode 3:
“Oh geez. You seem busy. I’ll come back.” Poor Percy facing the Oracle
Medusa’s place brings up a lot of deep questions. I kinda like the way they took this. Bringing attention to the actual horrifying truth that is the gods’ cruel punishments is something I appreciate.
The conversation they have after everything is done was a nice touch. Letting us see them actually talk things out and see the bond slowly forming is amazing.
Episode 4:
The moment Percy changes places with Annabeth was perfectly done. Loved it!
Athena “my child embarrassed me so she can die for all I care” vs Poseidon “like hell I’m letting my son die and if that means I make a water tornado to snatch him from the air then I will”
Episode 5:
I love the popping their heads up from behind the concrete when talking to Ares.
Making it modern like Ares starting a fight on Twitter is so cool in a way. Making them “relevant” to the modern world is such an interesting take. I’m looking forward to seeing if they do it with the others too.
“Push down a flight of stairs” is very suspicious. That’s exactly what Percy said when choosing Annabeth.
😂😂Percy is completely on top of this entire park being a creepy ghost place lol though the music break was great
Grover showing off his genius with his flattery of Ares!
Hephaestus changing his mind was good but Annabeth standing up to him (and her mother) was better!!
Grover worked out who stole the bolt?!?!? This would be different than the books, but I’m still willing to see where they go with it.
Though also a thought… we are definitely getting a lot more of the gods than the books gave us. Never saw Hephaestus and it seems like we are gonna see Hermes next episode.
Episode 6:
Oh. They were wrong about who did it. That’s good at least. Figuring it out so early would not have been a good choice.
Annabeth stealing from the god of thieves 😭 even if he let her do it, for those couple of minutes it was hilarious
Santa Monica was more heartbreaking than I thought. Show Percy was really expecting his dad. But the fact he was actually there is something
THEY WERE LATE!! Wow what a change!
4 pearls!!
Episode 7:
The lack of the Crusty fight is actually disappointing honestly
No DOA Recording… I loved that one. Dead on Arrival was just clever. And no pay raise conversation 😢
“Only suckers wait in line” showing your New York City there Percy
Oh no. Now we are down to 3 pearls. Show universe is really out here making Poseidon a better father by actually caring. First he was actually waiting to see Percy and then he gives 4 pearls.
Annabeth isn’t with them anymore 🤔 I don’t like that.
“Sanctuary” for just a second I was impressed with Hades then he explained then I realized it was incredibly pragmatic of him.
Wow. I hold no animosity to show Poseidon like I do Book Poseidon. The immediate answer to Sally… Wow!
I hadn’t really realized I had animosity to book Sally but Show Sally actually did her best to prepare Percy for the world where Book Sally just ignored it.
Woo! Let’s go Ares fight!
Episode 8:
And so begins Percy’s absolute hate against Ares that even transcends a goddess erasing his memories.
Ares didn’t curse Percy though…
Yo… Poseidon surrenders for Percy
And Show Zeus is better than Book Zeus at least for now. He’s at least willing to entertain the idea of Kronos rising.
Oh Luke… I was right… this was worse than the book
“I didn’t think you’d give them to Grover” that is the most heartbreaking line
The mouthing off to Kronos is awesome. Love it “Are you kidding me” he says 😂
And sadly, but also thankfully, no getting rid of Gabe through Medusa’s head by Sally (though still got him lol). Seems like they made him not as abusive on screen as the books showed him to be.

Note
i understand i am currently talking to you in another tab as well but what about trans annabeth !!!!
just Everything about her but also. i have some headcanons that i would like to share
she realizes she’s a girl when she’s really young!
i go back and forth on if it’s a contributing factor to her running away from home or not and i’m still not sure
for now let’s go with on Top of the monster attacks, her dad and stepmom don’t entirely understand, which doesn’t help
after almost murdering luke with a hammer, the first thing she tells him and thalia is that she’s a girl
when they ask her what her name is she’s kind of like ‘i didn’t think i would get this far’
thalia and luke help her pick out her name!!
chb is the first time she’s gotten Real Support from adults (mr. d is a lot more helpful and understanding than he lets on)
also chb has a very loving and supportive group of lgbt+ campers that immediately take her under their collective wing
every year the whole group goes into the city for nyc pride!
silena is the one who pierces annabeth’s ears!! clarisse holds annabeth’s hand the whole time and annabeth squeezes it so hard that it lowkey feels like she’s going to break it, but neither of them say a word
sometimes on bad days, silena helps annabeth with her dysphoria and they do face masks and braid each other’s hair and just chill
(this is a silena and annabeth friendship appreciation blog)
‘wise girl’ as a nickname isn’t very creative, but annabeth enjoys that Validation even if clarisse is trash-talking her
she’s not a big fan of the lake or swimming
(swimsuits give her dysphoria)
and then there’s percy, who sometimes jumps into the lake fully clothed and she doesn’t mind doing that
midnight lake swims (this is off topic)
annabeth is up late working, percy shows up with two cokes and is like ‘let’s go swimming!!!’ and annabeth’s just like ‘how much caffeine have you had’
annabeth logically: shorter hair would be easier for battle annabeth actually: Must Be Long To Be A Real Girl
she works hard to break this mentality, because she doesn’t want to care about if she passes or not, but she also just loves keeping her hair long
one time in battle it does get cut short and she freaks out more than she’s proud of and percy and grover help her calm down
when her and sally “i adopt every one of percy’s friends” jackson meet, sally hugs her and says “i’ve always wanted a daughter!” and annabeth almost cries
she’s very secure in her gender, but there’s always this fear of rejection, so whenever monsters call her the daughter of athena part of her is always like ‘hell yeah i am!’
medusa: daughter of athena annabeth, softly: good. grover: SHE’S ABOUT TO TURN US TO STONE
when she’s made over on circe’s island and she sees herself in the mirror it’s not how she wants to look forever, but there’s something about it that’s really overwhelming to be made over like that and have gold in her hair and wow
(and they didn’t turn her into a guinea pig which was super validating)
the siren song hits even harder than you thought it did because luke was one of the first people to accept her completely
she cries when she’s asked to join the hunters of artemis
during their first quest, percy asks her what people do during quests if they get their period and she’s just like “idk i’m trans”
lowkey, one of her favorite things percy’s ever told her is how he thought she looked like a princess the first time he saw her
athena doesn’t ever talk about it with annabeth, but early on at camp, annabeth finds a woven bracelet in the trans flag colors in her bunk and Knows its from her mom

A/N: I rewrote this twice because I deleted half of it- totally no tears here! Comment your opinions and most importantly, enjoy! <3 from moi.

Summary: The ending to this one shot

Part II
Percy refused to talk to Annabeth the entire ride back to Camp. Most of his team was lighting up on the way back besides Percy and Will who were furious at Nico for overworking himself over a game. Percy would turn his head every time Annabeth spoke to him however when they got off the bus, he snatched her bag out of her hand and threw it over his shoulder. Annabeth tried to not laugh- sure, he wouldn't talk to her but he would still hold her bag for her.
“Percy, bro cmon, it was a game.” Jason slapped him on the back.
“That we got beat in!”
“That was your fault,” Calypso laughed slightly as Leo wove his hand into hers. He had forgiven her for practically yeeting him across into a creek. She still felt quite guilty when she saw the bruise across his back but he had waved it off as if it were nothing.
“I did warn you that we were going to win,” Annabeth repeated. “ C’mon Perce, it was just a game!”
“Hmph!” Percy shook his head away from Annabeth even though he was holding her hand and her stuff. It was by far one of the funniest things Annabeth had ever seen him do.He clearly did not see the irony.
“Do you understand what you did? It was a game Nico, a game! Do you understand what those words mean?” Will answered his question before Nico could. “ It means you don’t overexert yourself and have fun. Have you ever heard of fun before!?”
Nico was trying to keep a poker face and not laugh at Will. He watched as the blond teenager continued freaking out, throwing his hands about and lecturing him. Nico was sitting down on his bed in the infirmary, supporting his weight with both his arms. Yes, Nico injured himself so often that he had an actual bed assigned to him in the infirmary.
“What are you smiling at!” Will turned on him.
“Nothing.”
“Liar.”
“It was you and your little freak outs. Happy now?” Nico raised an eyebrow.
“Oh.” Will seemed significantly quiet as he attempted to fight the rising blush on his cheeks.
“Nerd.”
“Says you.” Will retorted as he sat next to Nico, shuffling so he could get comfortable. Nico shuffled a bit so he could lay his head on Will’s chest who in turn rested his chin on Nico’s head.. Will felt warm, safe and his heart had steady thumps- something that calmed Nico as his eyes closed and he gently drifted into a sleep. The last thing he felt was a soft kiss on his forehead.
“Anyone seen Will and Nico?” Piper asked as she took a seat.
“Infirmary,” Reyna confirmed as she decided to take a seat by Frank and Hazel. Just as Annabeth was going to take a seat by Piper instead of Percy, she felt a hand grab her wrist. She let Percy drag her to his lap- he was still frowning. His eyes weren’t cloudy like they were when he was truly angry, instead they were his regular sea green hue. His hair was messy form the game and some of the ends had splashes of yellow paint dired to the ends. There were even some splodges on his face and bruises on his arms but despite all of that, Annabeth still thought he looked as handsome as ever.
“So you’re still going to interact with me but you won’t talk to me?”
“He’s stubborn,” Leo called out.
“Grudges really aren’t your thing Percy, leave that to Nico,” Hazel admitted, her legs resting on Frank’s lap.
“She exploited the trust we had so she could win,” Percy huffed out the few words. Piper literally cackled. Percy was probably the one of the best soldiers in battle but he really wasn’t very good at losing.
“Percy,” she wheezed. “It was a game. You should have seen it coming.”
“Seaweed brain, I said I’m sorry but come on, you have to admit it was funny!” Annabeth pleaded. She watched as Percy struggled to keep his face under control. The corners of his lips twitched upwards and at the same time, the dimples on his cheeks appeared momentarily before disappearing. His eyebrows creased together in a dramatic fashion, clearly trying to prevent a smile from spreading across his face.
“Percyyy please!”
“Percy, you realise no one is on your side right?” Reyna reminded.
“I’m going to my cabin, in case you traitors wanted to continue anymore of your protesting,” Percu huffed as he got up and stormed away in a dramatic fashion. The rest of the group remained in their seats, trying to resist snorting.
A knock resonated from the door. Percy was considering if he should answer or not. The chances it was a quest or someone in need of his help (he really was close to screaming fuck all the gods except Hestia) and the chance it was Annabeth were both a fair 50/50. The knocking was persistent and finally Percy sighed before getting up and in a violent manner, pulled open the door.
To his surprise, Annabeth stood there with a plate of blue cookies (that looked like one or two had been burnt), blue nachos (with some famous 7 layer dip which Annabeth had to iris-call Sally to learn the recipe) and a bottle of blue soda which stood by her foot.
“Sorry?” Annabeth offered, her arms a bit full. Percy didn’t know how to react. On instinct, he helped Annabeth, taking the nachos out of her hands and propping the door to his cabin open so she could walk in. As Annabeth walked in, he stuck his head out the door, to make sure Chiron wasn’t watching.
“So..” Annabeth trailed off, looking at her feet.
Percy sighed, rubbing the back of his head. “So…”
“I made cookies,” she smiled weakly.
“I saw. How many did you burn?”
Annabeth gasped in mock offense. Her hand flew to mouth dramatically as she struggled to hide a giggle.
“What! There was no way that Leo didn’t help you with those. He’s the only one who can actually make food here,” Percy laughed slightly. Annabeth, caught red handed, let out a nervous bubble of laughter as she sat herself on one of the chairs in Percy’s cabin.
“So… have you forgiven me?” Annabeths eyes looked shiny and hopeful.
Percy had forgotten that he had meant to be mad around Annabeth- when the girl you’re in love with walks into your cabin with blue food and cookie ingredients across her face, you kinda have to stop thinking grrrr. In Percy’s eyes Annabeth looked so adorable- she had flour on her face and hair, her clothes were clearly in a food dye accident and her hands were stained blue.
“Maybe… I will have to give everything a thorough taste test to determine it though.”
“Oh of course, we can’t have anything not up to your standard,” Annabeth joined in on Percy’s mucking about. Percy took a bite out of the blue cookie that lay on top- expecting the worse however, he was pleasantly surprised when it tasted pretty good.
“Wow, this is way better than I thought it would be.” The words flew out of Percy’s mouth before he could stop them.
“Glad to see you believe in my baking skills,” Annabeth drawled sarcastically but her lips were still smiling. Annabeth also took a cookie and was shocked at how good it tasted.
“Wow, these are pretty good.”
“Well you see, I have this super competitive but awesome girlfriend who cannot cook or bake but she has really good battle strategies that seem to also work when coming to blackmailing her friends to make food.”
Percy wrapped his arm around Annabeth's waist, pressing a kiss to her forehead just as she gave him a playful punch, causing him to pout and rub his arm. They set out the food and argued about what movie to watch.

okay i swear i tried but i couldn't resist and read part 2 and im so gonna regret this on tuesday
ANYWAY!!!! PART 2!!!!!;
ever since the first time percy mentions how no sword feels right, and then w Zoe's entry in the plot I knew she'd be the one to give him riptide- probably when she was dying BUT IT DID NOT PREPARE ME FOR THAT SCENE it's so tender and sad and it made me cry and ugh fuck atlas
THE FIGHT WITH ATLAS OH MY GOD !!!! PERCY'S RAW POWER AND HIS ANGER AND THE WAY HE SAYS SOME PARENTS DIE FOR THEIR CHILDREN and just the raw fuckin power he unleashes this wonderful powerful man amazes me every. single. time. Even Jason????? and Jason and percy fighting together???? what a fucking power combo !!!!! and the whole move where jason throws percy on people Ahahahahahahah quite effective
im not gonna lie- I was going through the Frank/hazel/leo parts quite impatiently because i was too desperate to find out what happens at othrys but then you introduced Chiron?????? like damn that caught me by surprise how do you manage to surprise me by introducing characters i already know i just don't get it !!!!????
the whole scene before during and after percy takes the sky from Annabeth------ SO TENDER?? MY HANDS WERE LITERALLY SHAKING??? AND SOMEHOW ALL I COULD THINK OF WAS ~THE WORLD WAS COLLAPSING BUT THE ONLY THINF THAT MATTERED TO ME WAS THAT SHE WAS ALIVE????~ them drinking each other in and finally finally reuniting AND PERCY SAYING ITS OKAY WE'RE TOGETHER WE'RE TOGETHER OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU!!!!!! the underwater bubble scene????? annabeth crying and hugging percy???? THE ALMOST KISS THING?????? phew. you blew me away.
jason and piper seemed so in love in this chapter which only made the end so much more depressing my heart hurts for piper but then JASON!!!!! and the whole part where he's trying to accept death and my poor boy doesn't deserve this misery why r you so sadistic and i didn't think he'd leave so early tbh i always thought he'd die before the final battle so im quite interested in seeing where he goes from hereon
Absolutely loved the pipercy bond that you developed!! i think their friendship has the capacity to be even deeper than jason and percy and i love how you write them and hoping to see more of these idiots joking about twilight and harry potter at the wrong time
also very disappointed you didn't let someone yeet Luke down the cliff that bitch certainly deserved it ffs
And the last scene between percy and annabeth- SO MANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS and my heart hurts for the both of them because of luke and the war and sally and everything and this just seems like the beginning of the botl-tlo dynamic where there's just so many things left unsaid and so many things misunderstood and ahhhhh I'm ready for the drama !!!!!
i can't believe ive to wait at least another 3 months but you make it worth the wait every time and wow keep blowing our minds like this !!!!
FRIEND UR EXAM IM SO SORRY AGDJAGSJAKAHAJAKAKB

PIPERCY!!!! idk i like their friendship a lot for some reason??? i just like all the friendships in the 7 overall. i dont remember if leo and frank ever became good friends but i think they have the potential to be. i just want them to feel very comfortable and natural around each other i guess

I Feel a Little Lost in This World (5/5)
chapter title: Percy’s Birthday Party Takes a Dark Turn
word count: 2,133
read on ao3
Camp was quiet for the rest of the summer, many of them eager to return home to their families for the school year, or simply struggling to process everything they’d gone through in the span of a few days.
Nico had performed funeral rites the day after the battle, and then had to do it again and again as campers continued to succumb to their injuries.
Then, one morning, the dying stopped. Campers began to heal physically, though it was clear that the mental toll would have lasting effects on all of them.
When August finally rolled around and Percy invited the questing group back to his mom’s apartment for a birthday celebration, Nico was excited to go. He wanted to pretend to be normal, just for a few minutes.
They finally got to see that movie they’d meant to see back in June, though they watched it from the comfort of Sally Jackson-Blofis’s couch. They had cake that had been dyed blue with food coloring. They all sat in a circle on the floor in the living room when conversation turned from the lighthearted to something more serious. Nico had wanted to double-check that they’d hit every point on the prophecy - wanting to be extra cautious considering what had happened after his first quest - though none of them seemed to think they knew what the last line had meant. Before they could get too far into it, though, Percy brought up a different prophecy instead.
“You know, I don’t really think it’s fair that the two of you get to know more about the Great Prophecy than us,” Percy complained, leaning back on his hands. “I mean, it’s about a kid of the Big Three, right?”
“That’s what Bianca told me,” Nico said, hugging his knees to his chest. Talking about the prophecy made him want to give Bianca a call, but would she answer? “She said that it’ll come to pass when a child of the Big Three turns sixteen.”
Annabeth nodded. “That’s right. It’s just a matter of...well, figuring out which one of you is closer to sixteen.”
Nico and Percy shared a look. How were they possibly going to figure that out?
Percy shrugged. “Well, chronologically, I’m, like...eighteen? And Nico’s like, a hundred, so...rock, paper, scissors?”
Nico kicked him. “We celebrated your thirteenth birthday last year. So you’re fourteen now.”
Annabeth turned to Nico. “And how old are you?”
Nico blinked. “Uh…”
“He’s fourteen,” Will said quietly. He hadn’t spoken up since the conversation turned to the topic of prophecies, and Nico had almost forgotten he was there. “He was ten when he got to camp, so he’s fourteen now. Almost fifteen.”
“I guess that means I turn fifteen in January,” Nico told Annabeth.
She nodded. “Then, to me, it sounds like the prophecy is yours. You’ll turn sixteen about half a year before Percy.”
“Great,” Nico said with a huff.
Percy nudged him with an elbow. “Hey, don’t worry about it! It’s only if you live that long.”
Nico shoved him back. “I wonder if I could bribe Persephone to turn you back into a tree.”
“Maybe she can turn you into a tree,” Percy suggested, “and that way you can just sleep straight through all the bad stuff.”
“So, you’re cool with taking the prophecy, then?” Nico asked. “Because I’ll gladly let you have it.”
Percy raised his hands in surrender. “Oh, no way, never mind! I’d like to live, thanks.”
“Wow, you think I’m gonna die? Thanks for having any faith in me.”
“Can you two please stop arguing?” Annabeth cut in. “If anything, we should be making a plan so that Nico doesn’t die.”
Nico frowned. “So...you also think that I’ll die? Damn, I expected it from Percy, but it hurts coming from you.”
Will suddenly got to his feet and said, “I need some air.” For a second, he didn’t move, except to glance at Nico before quickly looking away. “Um. Nico, could you come with me? There’s something I--  I need to talk to you. Alone.”
Nico blinked. “Uh, yeah, sure.” He got to his feet, not-so-subtly kicking Percy when he gave Nico a weird look, and then he had to practically jog down the hall to catch up with Will. “Hey, wait up,” Nico said when Will ducked into Nico and Percy’s shared bedroom, and then climbed out the window onto the fire escape. “Will, what’s going on?” Nico asked when he finally joined Will outside.
Will had sat down with his back to the exterior wall of the building, and when Nico sat down beside him, he realized that they wouldn’t be seen by someone passing by the window. Will was hiding - he truly didn’t want anyone but Nico to hear what he had to say. Will reached out for Nico’s hand before he started to talk.
“That...line in the prophecy,” Will said quietly, “I think I know… Lose a love to worse than death. I asked you before if… If Charlie had died, and you said he hadn’t, but that…” Will shook his head, gazing off into the distance away from Nico and letting his head thunk back against the wall behind them. “It’s worse than death. He’s… He’s gone, but now we-- You have to take him out...for good.”
Nico squeezed Will’s hand. “I’m so sorry, Will. I never realized you and Charlie were that close.”
Will laughed humorlessly, almost sounding embarrassed. “It’s...more than that. I--” He groaned, pressing his free hand over his eyes. “How can I explain this?” He dropped his hand and shifted to face Nico, reaching out to take Nico’s other hand as well. “When I was on Calypso’s island, we had a lot of time to...talk. I… I told her about you, mostly.” Will smiled nervously at Nico before dropping his gaze to their hands, his thumbs slowly brushing across Nico’s knuckles. “She got me thinking about some stuff, and helped me process a few things, and I’m realizing now, after… After losing Charlie and...and Lee, I don’t want to risk losing anybody else. And inside, just now, talking about how you--” He choked on his words as he said, “How you might die... Nico, I need you to know how important you are to me. I--” He lifted his gaze once more to meet Nico’s eyes. “I like you, Nico.”
Nico felt his face start to heat up, and for some reason, he couldn’t look into Will’s eyes any longer. He dropped his gaze to their joined hands. “I like you, too, Will. I mean, you’re my best friend, and I--”
Will sighed. “No, I-- I mean, yes, you’re my best friend, too, but-- No, I mean that I like you.”
Nico frowned. He nodded slowly and said, “Right. And I like you, too.”
“No, you--” Will cut himself off with a groan and pulled his hands out of Nico’s, though Nico tried to grab his hands back.
“Wait, hang on a second--”
For half a second, Nico actually thought Will might hit him to try to knock some sense into him, but then he did something that surprised Nico so much more.
Will grabbed Nico’s face in his hands and kissed him.
Nico was sure it only lasted for a second, but at the same time, he wondered if Kronos had appeared and frozen time around them. Then, Will pulled away, taking the warmth of his lips and his hands with him, and all Nico could do was watch him and blink.
He watched as Will opened his eyes, and the way the crease between his eyebrows disappeared. He blinked, and suddenly Will no longer looked determined, but shocked. Another blink, and Will was afraid.
“Oh,” Nico whispered, not sure which part he was reacting to.
Will scrambled back, burying his face in his hands and suddenly rambling, saying, “I’m sorry, oh gods, I’m so sorry. I don’t know why I did that! Please don’t be mad at me, I’m so sorry.”
“Woah, hey!” Nico exclaimed, finally managing to unfreeze himself and reaching out for Will. He took him by the shoulders and tried to lean in to make Will look at him, but it wasn’t until Nico managed to pry Will’s hands away from his face that Will finally lifted his eyes. He hadn’t started crying, which Nico took as a good sign, but his hands were shaking in Nico’s hold. “I’m not mad. I promise, I could never be mad at you.”
“You…” Will blinked. “You’re not? Then...how do you feel about...this?” Nico thought he heard an unspoken question: How do you feel about me?
“I...don’t know,” Nico answered honestly. “I don’t know how to say this in a way that won’t hurt you.”
Will’s hands went weightless in Nico’s. “Oh.”
“No, wait!” Nico squeezed Will’s hands and forced Will to keep his eyes on him. “I don’t know what I’m feeling. I need-- I have to process...all of this, but no matter what, I promise, you will always be my best friend. It’s just that… I mean, it’s like Percy said. I’m, like, a hundred. I know things are different now from when I was a kid, but in my head, it’s all still...jumbled up. I never even let myself think about you in that way, because I never thought it was possible for you to like me like that. So… I can’t really tell you how I feel, because I don’t know yet, but I know that I like you, and I’ll always like you, I just need to...figure out if it’s in the same way that you like me.”
Will held his gaze for another few seconds before tipping his head forward to press his forehead against Nico’s. “Okay, I get it.”
“You’re acting like this is a rejection,” Nico commented, “and it’s technically not.”
Will’s nose scrunched up. “It’s not... not a rejection.”
Nico hummed. “That’s too many negatives.”
Will laughed, and Nico felt his heart soar. He pulled back, releasing one of Will’s hands as he did so, and sat down at Will’s side again. He rested his head on Will’s shoulder, and felt Will’s head tip over onto his.
“What would you want to date me for, anyway?” Nico whispered. “I could be dead in a year.”
Will pressed his lips to the top of Nico’s head. “All the more reason to spend as much time with you as I can. Besides, if something were to happen to you, I can’t imagine that I won’t be far behind.”
Nico frowned and lifted his head. “If I die, it’s probably because I’m trying to protect you. If I die while protecting you, and you still die I’m going to be so pissed.”
Will grinned. “I meant more along the lines of how if you die, then Kronos might kill us all.”
“Oh.” Nico laid his head back down. “You don’t think Percy could take over and save the world?”
“A world without you? I don’t think I’d want him to save it.”
Nico elbowed him in the side. “Gods, have you always been this cheesy? Or do you think you have a free pass just because you confessed your feelings for me?”
“Eh, a little bit of both,” Will answered with a laugh.
They were quiet for a few moments, simply enjoying each other’s company, until Nico said, “I think I should go back to my training.”
Will paused. “Like, with your dad?”
Nico nodded. “I barely visited him at all last year while I was in school, and now that we know the prophecy is...well, probably about me, I feel like I should be training harder than ever. To make sure I’m ready for whatever happens.”
“That’s a good point,” Will replied. “Maybe I should stay back this year, too. Michael’s going to need help with the counselor stuff, and maybe Chiron can teach me more about healing, and archery, and...everything I can get better at while there’s still time.”
Nico squeezed his hand. “What about your mom? Don’t you want to spend as much time with her as you can, just in case?”
“I don’t even know if my grandparents will let me see her,” Will said quietly. “But...when it gets to that point, will you take me to Texas so I can say goodbye?”
“I’m not letting you die, Will--”
“I don’t want my last conversation with my mom to be over the phone,” Will cut in. “Please, Nico.”
Nico took a deep breath. “Yes, of course. Anything for you.”
Will shrugged his shoulder lightly, just enough to get Nico to look up at him once more. “So, I guess this means I’ll be seeing you around camp a little more often.”
Nico grinned. “Yeah, I guess you will.”
thanks for reading!

OK
@zoeconstellation mentioned how no one shipped leoxpercy (lercy? peo?) and i said it was because they have like 2 canon interactions.
SO
this got me thinking that the two could actually be really good friends. which led to this (under the break):
- their relationship starts a bit strained because their first impressions of each other are not very ... good
- they obviously bitch about each other to their friends who can’t for the life of them understand why they hate each other
leo: i just feel like he’s not as good as everyone makes him out to be, you know? i mean, wow, he can control water. so what? i can control fire! tell me that’s not more badass.
hazel, who just spent 30 minutes listening to percy complain about how immature leo is: uh huh
- but they never say anything to each other’s face. it’s all very passive aggressive and it drives the other five and coach hedge CRAZY
percy: jason, can you pass the syrup please?
leo: the syrup is literally right in front of me--
percy, louder: jASON CAN YOU PASS THE SYRUP PLEASE--
- until one day annabeth has had enough of it and just locks them in a room together to talk it out with strict rules not to leave until they’re friends. or at the very least, not enemies.
- and annabeth is scary enough to make them agree
- so into the room they go
- it’s initially a bit awkward to suddenly be trapped in a room with someone you’ve just been talking shit about, so they sit in silence for a while before percy speaks first
percy: we weren’t ... that bad, right?
leo: ... nah. annabeth is probably just over reacting
percy: nice to see nothing’s changed. you should’ve seen her when she was 12
- and just like that, they agree on something.
- this leads to them talking more and percy realises that leo uses humour as a coping mechanism and has actually been through some shit while leo realises that percy is actually a really humble dude who tends to give the credit to other people, much to annabeth’s chagrin
leo: you ... killed a minotaur with your bare hands?
percy: yeah but only because my mom told me to use his horn
- that leads to them talking about their moms. another thing they bond over: their love for their moms. percy immediately invited leo over to see sally when the quest is over
- leo doeS NOT CRY HE JUST GETS A BIT OF HAYFEVER
- needless to say, when annabeth finally unlocks the door a couple hours later, leo and percy are on their way to becoming very close friends
- they start experimenting with their powers, trying to discover which is more powerful, water or fire
piper: leo, why are you wet
leo: i tried to set fire to the sea, but i fell in and percy had to rescue me
piper: you wHAT?
annabeth, who is absolutely done with everything: he tried to set fire to the sea but he fell in and percy had to rescue him
- they discover they share the same sense of humour that no one else on the team has. often percy will just whisper something under his breath which causes leo to have a laughing fit that none of the others understand
- I N S I D E  J O K E S
- they would 100% be the friend duo that have the most random inside jokes that no one else gets (jason is convinced there isn’t even a story behind half of them, they just say there is to piss him off)
piper, being a badass and fighting a monster with her cornucopia when a pineapple comes out:
leo, in the middle of trying to stop the ship from falling: PERCY, IT”S A PINEAPPLE
percy, on the other side of the ship fighting a monster while simultaneously preventing a storm from wrecking the ship: HAHAHAHAHHAHAH
jason, trying not to get killed and trying to not accidentally electrocute anything that isn’t a monster: what the fUCK
- then tartarus happens.
- percy keeps saying jokes under his breath before looking around and realising there is no one to laugh at them
- and leo keeps referencing random inside jokes before looking around and realising there is no one to understand them
- :(
- then ... calypso
- unlike in canon, leo doesn’t immediately hate percy. he understands that percy didn’t have a lot of time to make sure the gods were keeping good on his promise because he was busy having his memory wiped on the other side of america
- in the final battle, the two absolutely destroy any monsters in their path and when leo dies, percy takes it the hardest (he also hits leo the hardest when he returns)
- percy suffers from survivors guilt because of the line from the prophecy that says “from storm or fire the world must fall” and feels that if he tried a bit harder to kill gaia then leo wouldn’t be dead
- and they never tell annabeth that the reason they became friends was because they both thought she was over-reacting

don’t overthink
a/n: this was supposed to be a one-shot, but i can’t freaking let these characters go, so here it is — self-indulgent fluff
part 1, part 2 (nsfw-ish)
So she hadn’t slept in her own room in over a week.
That was fine, right? Annabeth pondered as she stirred her coffee. She had taken over their kitchen counter as her makeshift drafting table, blueprints and pencils and rulers spread out and covering every surface. She had a huge project due tomorrow at her first class on Monday so today was going to be dedicated solely to schoolwork.
Annabeth had meant to spread her work out over the weekend, but she and Percy had ended up spending all of Saturday at the park with their friends. Then his mom had invited her and Percy over for dinner that night, and Annabeth would never ever say no to Sally Jackson. When they returned to their apartment near campus, she and Percy had gotten wine drunk and had sex and fallen asleep in his bed.
Just friends, right? Annabeth buried her face in her hands. Percy was in the shower, and this was the first time she was able to have a moment to herself to think. She was supposed to be thinking about her big design project, but her thoughts strayed to her best friend who she heard singing in the shower.
Ugh, life was so so good right now. For the first time ever. She loved their group of friends. She loved spending time with Percy. She loved living with Percy. Their arrangement had seemed perfect, as long as feelings didn’t get involved. Because feelings equal mess, and with Annabeth’s rigorous classes and internship and Percy’s swim team schedule, they both had no time for mess.
Yet, she hadn’t slept in her own room for a week. Last weekend, Annabeth had ambushed Percy after swim practice and she spent the night in his bed and they cuddled in the morning. She had been terrified of things being awkward when they got up and returned to real life. But no, Percy made her blue chocolate chip pancakes like he always did, and they ate breakfast and watched cartoons in their living room.
That night, after Annabeth had brushed her teeth and put her pajamas on, Percy had pulled her into his room. He didn’t say anything, neither did she as she climbed under his covers and curled into his side. The next night Percy wordlessly climbed into her bed and spooned her after getting home late from swim practice. The night after that, Annabeth made spaghetti for dinner and they wordlessly went to sleep together.
They often communicated without words, roommate telepathy she decided — like when Percy knew exactly when she wanted to leave a party just from the glance she’d send him and how Annabeth knew exactly when to to distract him with a funny story from her day when he was feeling stressed just from his body language. They both knew that they slept better with each other at their sides, all warm and tangled up together under the covers.
Annabeth had awoken extra early that morning, extracting herself carefully out of Percy’s warm embrace and set up camp at the kitchen counter. She needed to get this done, but she could not for the life of her stop thinking about Percy.
Annabeth heard the shower shut off. She chugged the rest of her coffee. A few moments later, Percy padded into the kitchen, dark curls glistening and a towel around his neck.
“Morning, ‘Beth.”
“Good morning,” Annabeth said, trying to sound calm and breezy. She didn’t. Percy shot her a look.
She ignored it, and pushed a mug of coffee towards him. She made it just how he liked it — two sugars and enough milk so it didn’t even taste like coffee anymore.
“Thanks,” Percy said, taking a sip and hopping up on the barstool next to her at their kitchen counter. “You were up early.”
“I need to finish these blueprints before tomorrow, and they’re just taking forever,” Annabeth unrolled one and used her empty mug as a paper weight. The other corner began rolling back up, but Percy held it down.
“Where’s your drafting table?”
“It’s in my room, but there’s just no space to set it up.” Annabeth began sketching.
“You need an office.”
Annabeth scoffed, “Yeah, let me just turn our coat closet into an office. Honestly, we’re really luck we found an apartment in Manhattan that has a closet.” She erased one of the lines she drew. Percy nursed his coffee, alternating the mugs between his hands so he could keep a hand on the edges of her blueprints that kept furling back up. Annabeth was grateful for the help, and it was few moments of them quietly working together before Percy broke the silence.
“What about your room? That can be your office.”
“There’s no room with my bed in the way.”
“Then let’s get rid of your bed, isn’t your mattress just borrowed from Thalia anyway?”
Annabeth’s hand paused over her pencil. She looked at Percy, who was stirring his coffee.
“But then where would I sleep.” She asked slowly.
Percy took a swig from his mug, “My room.”
“Percy—”
“Annabeth,” Percy said, still staring at his coffee, “Last night, at my mom’s, I saw how you were playing with my baby sister and how happy you made my mom when you guys were chatting, and I was looking at you three last night and I just remember thinking, ‘Wow, those are my girls.”
“Percy,” Annabeth didn’t know what she wanted to say.
“I know we said we’d just be roommates, but we became friends anyway and that worked out fine, right? And then we started sleeping together, and that’s been awesome. But yesterday, at the park, when you made that stupid, dirty joke about Jason’s professor, I just wanted to lean over and kiss you. But I couldn’t. Why can I only kiss you when we’re alone in our apartment?”
“Because the rules—”
“Fuck the rules, Annabeth. I want to kiss you in front of our friends at the park. I want to kiss you when you rant about books when we’re studying in the library. I want to kiss you when I see you cheering in the stands at my swim meets in front of the whole crowd to see. I want to kiss you right now.”
Percy tangled his fingers in her hair, leaning in, his lips not touching hers yet, “Don’t you?”
Annabeth wrapped her arms around his neck, murmuring, “All the time.” She pressed her lips against his like her life depended on it. Percy deepened the kiss before pulling away. Annabeth kept her arms around his neck, leaning her forehead against his. This was the first time they kissed outside of the context of their friends-with-benefits hookups, and it felt so right.
When Annabeth opened her eyes, she muttered, “So what does this mean.”
“I don’t want you to overthink,” Percy murmured.
“But what are we now?”
“That’s exactly why I don’t want you to overthink things. We don’t have to be anything.”
“So we’re just roommates who—”
“Who happen to be best friends and who happen to sleep in the same bed—”
“And who happen to have sex—”
“Yeah,” Percy said, with a shrug, “And who happen to be in love with each other.”
Annabeth smiled against his lips, “Did you just say you love me?”
Percy grinned, “Yeah, kind of a lot. I’m in love with you, Chase.”
Annabeth laughed, her hand sliding down and resting on his chest, “I love you, too. So what now? I have to get rid of my bed?”
“I mean, only if you want to.”
Annabeth grinned, “I don’t know, I did see this gorgeous desk at IKEA and it would look great next to my night stand.”
Percy stole a kiss, “Actually, I take it back, this is not worth a trip to Brooklyn.”
“And since we’ll be at IKEA anyway, we need to get a new duvet.”
“What’s wrong with my duvet?”
“Drool stains.”

Percy and Annabeth would 100% do their own version of the Halloween Heist every year. Annabeth obviously wins year one but as more people are pulled in the Title of Best Demigod/Satyr/Centaur gets passed around a lot.
You know what? Fuck it! Mini Fanfic time! Annabeth winning hmmm? I’m actually busy with not going crazy during quarantine and working on my feature length Percabeth fic (coming out in 2025, I guess). And it’s way too early (or late) for Halloween. But let’s do this! One shitty fic - hot and fresh out of the oven!
The Halloween Heist
The plan was ready and set. They all would do it one last time together before their paths separated and all of them drifted apart like gusts of wind. The heroes of Camp Half-Blood reunited one last time before college hit the last of them. They wanted to relive a normal holiday together, just this once.
Annabeth and Malcom set up different routes; A, B and C throughout New York City, Manhattan specifically. Those that could, joined. And would the little kids that were on the streets going to be respected? Definitely not. Of course, it would be a competition – who would turn out to be the one most successful? Whose group would be candy lords or ladies of the night? Who looked the most horrifying?
Everyone agreed that in the last part they all lost. None of them dressed in the true horrifying manner of the Halloween tradition. The Stolls’ were dressed as super heroes, Connor as Batman and Travis as The Flash. Katie joined them as Poison Ivy. Clarisse pulled off a solid Sarah Connor and her boyfriend Chris stood proudly next to her as The Terminator. The only person that looked slightly scary was Malcom. He was dressed as a zombie and his eye bags stemming from the latest project he had been working on through the entire night added to the nature of his character.
“Well!” Percy exclaimed and tapped the floor with a wooden trident. “Let the games begin!”
Annabeth rolled her eyes. He wore khaki shorts, flip flops and a Hawaii themed shirt and those stupid pink window blinds sunglasses from 2012. “That’s just purely lazy! You dress up like your father every time on Halloween.”
“And it works just fine every time,” he said after sharing a soft kiss. Not only that, his outfit was unironically super comfortable. His hair tickled her. The only good thing was that he had actually grown out a beard which hugged his handsome face very tightly.
Percy raised a black eyebrow. “What are you going for?”
Annabeth looked like she had raided Paul’s wardrobe. Light dress shirt, ugly green sweater vest, tight black jeans and goddamn Birkenstock shoes. Her blonde curls were gelled back and put into a tight bun. The dark frames of her glasses oozed sexy librarian but the expression on her face only said shhh!
“Sexy Chiron with a third eye and without the horse ass end?” Chris and Malcom grinned, Katie snorted whereas the Stolls’ and Clarisse shared a loud cackle. Annabeth looked like she wanted to murder him.
“No! I’m Cecil from Welcome to Night Vale,” she corrected him.
“Cecil?”
“You’ve got to be kidding me. We listened to the first 100 episodes together! The lore, the intricacy, the little pieces you have to put together,” Annabeth looked very adorable whenever she was nerding and ranting about her passions.
“Well, The Weather is quite nice.” That was all Percy had to add.
“That means we have to re-listen everything!” Annabeth decided. Percy simply nodded. Yes, they would re-listen.
“We?” Katie raised a red dyed eyebrow. “Don’t tell me that you’ve become a we couple.”
“Of course not!” both denied. “And don’t be so sarcastic, Percy! We will re-listen!”
Clatter. The group turned to their right. Grover appeared wearing a flower crown on top of his horns, a torn green dress shirt… and nothing further down below. “That’s just unfair!” The Stolls’ yelled and pointed at his dark hairy goat legs.
“No, this is a way of nature saying, Grover you got this. Also be nice! Me taking off time as a Lord of the Wild should be considered a blessing,” the black satyr grinned.
The brothers huffed and Malcom rolled his eyes. “Where’s Juniper?” Annabeth asked.
“Couldn’t make it unfortunately,” the Grover pouted.
“And Will and Nico? Will promised us 90s Justin Timberlake with a puka shell necklace, meanest frosted tips and Donald Trump tan!”
The satyr shrugged. “They have decided that re-watching Corpse Bride for the millionth time was more important. Anyway. Annabeth, you got the straws?”
“Of course, I do. We have three groups á three people. Red is A, blue is B and green is C. Biggest candy stash wins, got it? Ultimate bragging rights, the last prank idea on Chiron and blue cupcakes from Sally. Let the Fates decide!”
“You sure about that?”
“Percy, shut up! Let’s just do this.”
The participants nodded. Team A consisted of Percy, Clarisse and Travis. Team B were Annabeth, Chris and Malcom. Lastly Team C was made up by Grover, Katie and Connor.
“Two Athena kids in one group is just unfair,” Clarisse huffed.
“Deal with it,” Malcom grinned. “You know the routes? Let’s begin! You’ve got three hours!”
*****
Percy rang the bell. A middle-aged woman with curlers opened the door. “Yes?” she mustered him.
Percy cleared his throat. “Lord Poseidon demands all of your candy!” he said with a deep booming voice.
The woman stared at him weirdly. “Poseidon as in the god of sea? Since when does a Greek god look like homeless person wandering around the beach?”
“Uh…Since always?”
“Alright, fair enough.”
*****
A young man opened the door. Annabeth was greeted by the smell of grease, Cheetos and bleach. The meanest hotbox fumes smacked her across the face. She coughed and felt her eyes tearing up. She wanted to experience the rush of winning, not feel that kind of high just yet.
“That your Halloween costume?” She simply nodded.
“Fucking sick, dude! You look like my college professor!”
“Well in that case hand your assignments in or give me all of your candy,” she grinned.
*****
A young mother and her daughter opened up for Grover.
“Wow! I want that costume mommy!” wailed the girl.
“Ellie, you’re already a witch. But how did you create those legs? They look so real?”
“They came off pretty naturally,” Grover shrugged.
“And the horns?!”
“I can’t spill all of my secrets, I’m afraid. I am but a humble servant of nature asking you to give something sweet back to us.”
The woman giggled. “Oh, and he’s a poet as well!”
“Uhh no?” denied Grover.
“Here take some of our candy!”
“Okay! Nature won’t forget your service, ma’am! And neither yours, Ellie!”
*****
The nine gathered at the Jackson’s hours later. Each team piled their candy stock. It was a clear-cut victory. Annabeth and Malcom looked proudly at their stash.
“We did it!” Katie yelled behind them. Team Grover won, they nearly covered the entire floor with chocolates and packs of sour patches. Satyr bonus probably. The Athena siblings lost their victorious smiles immediately.
“Looks like Team Athina kids lost!” Grover exclaimed with a smirk.
Annabeth looked like she’d all of a sudden love to possess Chiron’s horse ass to give him a massive horse kick. “Wait! Do we count the total mass or the individual candy because in that sense we would have won?” she questioned.
“Everyone saying that Annabeth would never cheat can now clearly tell that that was a fucking lie!” Percy shook his head.
“Well, work smart not hard,” Annabeth stuck her tongue out.
“There can always be a next time if we coordinate! And we will crush you!”

Grain Brain (Son of Demeter!Reader Headcanons)
Requested by @acoustickitten - another incredible requester - for a Son of Demeter with the relationship at my discretion.
Thanks for this one, I feel like there’s so little PJO reader-insert content for males! Anyway, I couldn’t decide, so the first part will be what life is like for a son of Demeter, and the second part will be the relationships, with Luke Castellan (for angst lovers), Will Solace (for the fluffy ones), and Percy Jackson (for a mixed bag). Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
So, you’re a half-blood.
Children of Demeter are often have it the worst: theoretically, they are the only demigod grandchildren of Kronos hopping along out there: Hestia is an eternal maiden. Hera doesn’t cheat. The Big Three has only had a few slip-ups since their big oath after WWII. Demeter’s the only child of Rhea out there still... producing demigod children.
And your cabin might be the most ridiculed after Aphrodite and Dionysus in terms of combat usefulness.
The general insult for a Demeter kid is Grain Brain. Grain is such a rhymeable word that Cabin Four has been the result of many a scathing limerick from the Apollo Cabin.
But in the future, all those people will look at you as the counterexample.
Sure, Athena and Ares may have superiority in battle tactics and strength. Hermes might be sneaky and crafty and wordy. Apollo might have a huge number of seemingly-unrelated skills. Hephestus might have craftsmanship.
But you have... agriculture?
Woe betide anyone who underestimates the power of Demeter. Like Dionysus’ children, Cabin Four kids may develop some level of control over plants, specifically, anything cultivated.
The dryads are okay with you, but the dryads connected to fruit-bearing trees practically worship you, calling you my lord.
And especially powerful children of Demeter have some minor weather control ability. Demeter once stopped the entire world from getting any weather but scorching sun to hold it hostage for her daughter to be returned. Her children can access this power too.
Make a powerful child of Demeter angry? Clouds part, and the sun heats up like a thousand degrees, as concentrated rays of heat bake the opponent. It can even cross Camp Half-Blood’s magical weather shield.
Another thing Demeter kids have power over is food.
A Demeter kid can curse someone else with excessive hunger, or bless someone to be able to go without food indefinitely. They can also make anything taste like anything else.
They are also often enlisted, along with the Dionysus kids, to help boost the strawberry harvest.
The berries go crazy for Hilary Duff, but early Justin Bieber and Cheetah Girls makes them bananas. So you have to choose the lesser of all evils, because these songs do NOT sound good from a satyr’s pipes.
I feel like a Demeter kid shares some healing with Apollo kids, but can only mainly heal exhaustion, dehydration, anything relating to malnourishment.
Demeter kids can eat whatever they want.
Demeter Chrysaoros was the Lady of the Golden Sword, so don’t tell me Demeter kids can’t fight just as well as anyone else. Demeter’s sword was also made out of part of Kronos’ scythe, so she is powerful.
You are the most powerful son of Demeter in thousands of years. You might be the most powerful child of Demeter since Persephone.
You are the head counselor of Cabin Four, and you make sure everyone is hale and hearty.
Luke Castellan
Luke recognizes your power when he gets to Camp Half-Blood
And it strikes him as unfair that you might be just as powerful as Thalia, but since you weren’t a Big Three kid, you had to make your own way to camp - no seekers out looking for you.
So he and Annabeth adopt you into their little family.
Luke realizes he has fallen for you when he sees how much little Annabeth has taken a shine to you.
He’s known you for about a year when he sneaks out of Hermes cabin with a couple of smuggled Cokes and a Disney movie on cassette.
He asks you to sneak with him into the Big House. You watch the movie in the room usually reserved for the orientation video.
Your head leans on his shoulder because you are tired - it’s the middle of the night.
“Hey, uh, Y/N...”
“Mmm?”
“I really like - uh, this movie.” He can’t do it. He’s almost crying with frustration when he feels you kiss him on the cheek.
“I think I might love this movie.” You say hopefully.
Mr. D doesn’t sleep, and he’s right behind you. Shockingly, he doesn’t turn you both into dolphins, but instead ropes you into a late-night pinochle game with Chiron, who’s tail is in curlers for some reason.
It’s both the happiest and most embarrassing night in your life.
But from then on, you two are the “it” couple at camp.
You two become slightly distant after Luke’s quest, but you think it’s because he’s insecure over his new scar. There’s something missing when you two do seem to regain that lost ground.
When Percy comes to camp and beats Luke in a training duel, you congratulate him and boost his ego, telling him that everybody always ridiculed Demeter kids for not having any good talents, and that he can be good at whatever he chooses.
You are devastated when Luke betrays the gods.
He begs you to join him, but you refuse.
He kidnaps you aboard the Princess Andromeda, but you are rescued by Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson.
It was when you realized Luke was too far gone.
At the Battle of the Empire State Building, you yourself take on Kronos with all the might of your godly parent.
It’s not enough, and you are almost killed.
Luke takes back control for an instant, allowing you the chance to escape
Annabeth and you give the final blow together.
The last thing Luke sees is you.
And you know you will never meet again, not even in death, because Luke was always a pusher, and he’ll reincarnate to get to the Isles of the Blest.
Eventually you age out of Camp Half-Blood and travel the world, searching, hoping you can find happiness once more...
Will Solace
You two are the medicine couple
Feeling bad? Feeling blue? Visit Y/N and Will - odds are one of them will solve your problem.
You hang out with Will in the infirmary, handing out magical crackers that assist with healing.
During the Battle of the Labyrinth, your powers truly blossomed - you granted power to all the fruit-bearing dryads, allowing their trees to come to life and attack the opposing army. Will thought that was so cool - he brags about it every chance he gets.
You and Grover seal Hyperion into the tree during the Battle of the Empire State Building.
You and Will met during archery practice, because as an Apollo kid, he was booked to teach.
Among your numerous talents, archery is not.
You accidentally shoot him.
Although, the way you shot him was worthy of an Apollo kid - the arrow ricocheted off of like, thirteen different things before striking Will.
Not a good idea to have the best healer teach archery
But anyway, you felt so bad that you practically carried him to the Big House
And cried because you never wanted to hurt anyone
Especially not anyone as hot as Will
“Wait, what?”
“Oops.”
“Well, I think you might have to check for another wound.”
“What? Really?”
“Yup. I think you struck my heart with your arrow.”
They change the rule so that no two demigods from different cabins can be alone together because of you two.
You resolve this by camping in the woods overnight - the dryads have got your back.
Although a lot of them will try to steal Will from you, so I guess everything has its ups and downs.
Percy Jackson
At first, you were so annoyed by this sarcastic ball of insecurity.
He comes in here, insulting your godly heritage, making a mockery of all these camp activities, and then he met you
And his jaw drops open.
“Wow. Uh... who’s your godly parent?” he asks, almost in awe
“Demeter.”
He snickers. “The farming goddess?”
Yeah, that was pretty much one of the worst first impressions he could have made.
But he grew on you after a while.
And you... he was gone from the moment you saw he had blue Coke and changed yours to match.
He takes you to meet his mom as soon as possible
And she automatically knows he’s in love because Sally Jackson always knows.
She approves because she sees how much you love him back.
The two of you just started being together one day - neither of you can really pinpoint an exact moment.
Just, somehow, you two held hands and it felt right, so you kept doing it.
And just like that, you were a couple.
Aphrodite once promised to make Percy’s love life interesting.
Well, it doesn’t get much more interesting than you.

it’s brighter now
absolutely no one prompted this but it’s my birthday and i get to choose the self indulgent fanfic so here’s some early relationship wlw percabeth
Read on AO3
i don't wanna look at anything else now that i saw you
i don't wanna think of anything else now that i thought of you
daylight ..//.. taylor swift
Percy won’t stop holding her hand.
It’s still summer, and her palms are a sweaty mess, but Percy’s still holding her hand through camp, every chance she gets.
Annabeth loves it. Loves that she gets to walk around with Percy’s fingers entwined in her own, without thinking twice. The breeze flows through her hair — it's a crisp August night — but the only sensation she can pay attention to is the connection between them; palms together, arms tangled up. She still has no clue how to act around Percy — the dynamic between them completely shifted in the new light of their relationship — but this, this feels natural; her hand finds Percy’s without even thinking.
They don’t talk about it much. Instead, they spend every minute they can of each day with their hands linked; sometimes a still-awkward meeting of lips stolen in silence. She clings to Percy’s side with a newfound dependency — something she’d be embarrassed of if it didn’t give her such a thrill. Even though she knows she’s strong enough to face the world herself, there’s something oddly comforting in being protected by the girl who saved Olympus. Almost as if she could keep her safe from the gods themselves.
She feels like a child (and maybe she still is) trying to navigate this; new, and unexpectedly confusing, since it’s Percy — who was once so innately familiar — now such a new concept quite literally at her fingertips. Annabeth stops, pulling Percy back when she continues walking, turning to face the lake together. This place is… calm. It always has been. She knows, especially so, for Percy. And calm is good.
Percy’s the first to speak. “You know, last time we were here I wanted to kiss you so bad.”
“I wish you had,” she says, “I wouldn’t have had to sulk over you for a year.”
“I thought you didn’t know—?”
Annabeth laughs, leaning her head against Percy’s shoulder. “I’m a smart girl, Percy. I would’ve figured it out.”
She is — smart, that is — and it makes her wonder how she could’ve been so ignorant for so long. That it was not only to protect her friendship, and Percy’s feelings, but also for herself. Her pride. Because that’s hard to admit to herself, still. She thought she’d figured herself out by her seventeenth year. To feel something so different, so new, throws her so far off track.
And Percy is someone she trusts without hesitation; she doesn’t have to think twice about how her hand fits into hers, and so gently. More than herself, she admits. Annabeth would reach for her hand before trying to save herself — not because she doubts her own strength, but because she believes in Percy’s. She believes in her loyalty; her mind; her heart.
So she’s not sure why they’ve been sneaking around like they’re some sort of clandestine secret. They were both sure Clarisse would have told someone by now, after all, it’s been two weeks. They haven’t told anyone either. Of course, Grover probably knows, what with the whole empathy link deal (and Percy had mentioned he'd been goading her about it for years). But… even Sally doesn’t know yet; and Percy tells her everything. Annabeth wonders if she’s worried about what she’ll say, or just dreading the inevitable onslaught of questions. It’s not to say people haven’t noticed them, holding hands all around camp. And she’s not sure if they’re too intimidated by both of them to say anything, or actually unaware it’s evolved into something more.
Some part of her just wants to just kiss her in the light of the campfire, and say fuck it. But it’s hard to know that other people knew her feelings for Percy, when even she didn’t know herself. Like, somehow her opinions are invalid, because she wasn’t smart enough to see the feelings hurtling towards her like a damn freight train. After all, how could she be a competent leader if she couldn’t even deal with her own problems? It’s hard to get over without internalizing it so completely that she genuinely feels wrong for even thinking it in the first place.
Percy’s arm wraps around her waist; Annabeth turns to look at her, shaken out of her spiraling thoughts — and she laughs, remembering the words that sent her there in the first place. “You can, you know that, right?”
“What?”
Annabeth answers, quiet. “You can kiss me.”
Percy chuckles, and she does. Quickly, right on the corner of her lips, but long enough that Annabeth can melt into her embrace.
When her heart's stopped pounding in her chest, Annabeth takes a step forward, pulling Percy with her, towards the dock. “Come sit.”
She follows, and they kick off their sandals, legs dangling off the edge of the dock and into the water, taking in the last minutes of the sunset, warm oranges and purples melting into deep, burnt reds and desaturated blues.
“We have to tell people eventually.”
“I know.” Percy leans against her, slouching; her hand finding Annabeth’s once again by her side. “It’s awkward though,” she adds.
“Percy, I like you, I’m not afraid to admit that.” Not anymore.
“I mean… I don’t know,” Percy sighs, “It’s not that, it’s… I don’t want things to change.”
“Practically everyone here adores you.”
Percy’s head tilts up towards her, a cheeky grin on her face, “Aw, practically? You trying to tell me you don’t?”
Annabeth chuckles, nudging her, “Jerk. I’m serious.”
“So am I.” The smile falls from her face. But it’s hard to put into words. There’s a feeling deep in the pit of her stomach that feels foreboding and bad, though she can’t pinpoint why, or what it is.
“As fun as it is sneaking around — and I don’t even know if they’re completely fooled — I want our friends to know.”
“I like you. You know that; I really like you.” She’s such a clingy girlfriend. But, wow, she’s her girlfriend. She sighs, “It’s stupid.” Before Annabeth can chime in, she continues, “No, really, it is. I… don’t want anyone to treat you differently. And that’s dumb because, well, you pretty much saved all of their lives at least once and there’s no way they’d ever not be grateful for that, plus, like, we’re demigods, so who even cares if we—”
“Hey,” she raises her eyebrows, “Different… isn't exactly a bad thing. If it'll make the boys stop trying to flirt with me…”
“…I’d be quite grateful.”
She scoffs, and shoves Percy, inadvertently a little too hard, sending her tumbling into the water. It's not enough warning for her to deflect any of it; she surfaces a second later spitting out water and pushing her wet bangs out of her eyes. She doesn't even bother with drying herself, since before Annabeth can react, Percy's pulling her in by her foot, and sending herself into a fit of giggles.
“This is not a fair fight,” she remarks, pulling her barely-saturated curls into a lumpy bun on the top of her head, a quick dip not enough to soak her hair, but enough to be incredibly annoying.
Percy manages a response as her laughter subsides, “You should've thought of that when you decided to push a daughter of the god of the sea into the water!”
“I didn’t mean to!” Annabeth laughs, blushing furiously.
Treading water, Percy swims closer, flicking droplets of water into her face with a mischievous smile. “I still deserve a bit of revenge though, don’t I?”
Annabeth lets out a frustrated sigh, mainly towards herself for finding it so endearing. She can feel her clothes getting stiffer in the water, rough against her body as she treads. But still — Percy’s right here in front of her, with that charming grin. Against her better judgment, Annabeth seeks out these moments; moments she used to find annoying; or at the least, frustrating. It’s nice to see her smiling; the levity in her laugh making everything feel so much more normal. For a second, she can almost forget they’ve saved each other’s lives far too many times to count.
Her hands seek out Percy’s face with outstretched arms, bridging the last few feet between them, and kisses her. The lake is fresh, but somehow Annabeth can still taste the sea on her lips. She pulls back, hands still bracing Percy’s cheeks, letting a teasing smile grace her lips, “You’re infuriating.”
“Yeah?”
Annabeth pulls herself back up onto the dock, helping Percy up with a hand. “Yeah.”
She tries, desperately, not to focus on the way her camp shirt sticks to her body, suppressing a laugh when she sees Percy’s eyes dart away in the same way.
Percy doesn’t fix her hair or her clothes. Instead, she lays back on the dock without another word, staring up as the first stars start to appear in the sky, the mugginess of a lukewarm night setting in. Annabeth follows; it doesn’t help a bit. Her shorts are heavy, her shirt feels like it’s cemented to her body, and the air is murky. It’ll take all night to get dry, if at all. She stays anyways.
“What if we don’t tell anyone?” she asks.
Percy turns her head. “What do you mean?”
“Nothing has to change… we can just be a couple without announcing it.”
“I… yeah, I guess we can?” She hadn’t thought of it like that. It’s immensely appealing, much better than any other way she’d considered.
“Good,” she says, “I don’t want to be a big deal.” I’ve had enough of that the past five years.
She takes Annabeth’s hand again, against the worn, splintering wood of the dock. “Me either, gods. I mean, at all. Not just with—”
“I feel the same way. I just want to be… invisible for once.” She catches the irony before Percy can point it out, “And — don’t you dare. You know what I mean.”
“I do,” Percy admits. “You know I actually had a crush on you for years?”
She squeezes Percy’s hand, letting the action speak for her.
“That night in the rain. You asked me when I knew.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, and I kinda gave you a half-assed answer,” Percy laughs.
Annabeth chuckles in response, rolling onto her side to face her, and listens intently.
“There was this girl from school — middle school — and… I mean we never talked, not really, but that’s when I started wondering…” As much peace as she’s made with the fact herself, it’s a million times harder to explain it to Annabeth. “And then it was another two quests, and I just… let myself forget, or… whatever.” She trails off, sighing. No, she never really forgot. But staying alive was more precedent; so it took a backseat in her mind’s list of important things. (Numbers one through one-hundred: don’t die. Number one-hundred and one: Deal with the fact that you’re in love with your best friend.) “Then there was Rachel, and she was always flirting, but I didn’t know if… if that was something I wanted too, or just…” She pauses. “I still don’t know if it was.” Rachel was a great friend; fun to be around — she still is. But Percy isn’t sure if she just wasn’t into her that way, or if her feelings for Annabeth were that overpowering. She figures she’ll have to be okay with never knowing. “And then there was Mount St. Helens, and — that’s when I knew. That’s when I really knew. But even before, I—”
“You don’t have to explain it, Percy. It doesn’t matter about all that. Not now.”
“But it does.” She doesn’t justify why. There’s no concrete reason in her mind, just that… it does, somehow — it’s a part of her.
Annabeth sits up, and pulls her up by the hand. “I was so dense that I thought you couldn’t possibly like me, because I would’ve noticed it; because I kissed you, and you never said anything about it.”
“I didn’t know what it meant.”
“Neither did I,” she admits.
“You mean…” It really was a heat of the moment thing.
“I didn’t… not for a long time. There were so many things that didn’t make sense. They do now.” She shrugs, like it isn’t a problem. “Don’t get stuck on that.”
“I’m trying not to.” In the silence, she sees Annabeth fiddle with the hem of her shirt, trying to unstick it from her skin. She dries them both off without a word.
“Thanks. That was getting—”
Percy breaks into a smile. “—Kind of gross. I was trying to live in the moment, but…”
Annabeth laughs, agreeing. “We should get back before the harpies try to turn us into their dinner.”
“Good idea.”
She walks Annabeth back to the Athena cabin in silence, still not letting go of her hand. Percy stands awkwardly in front of her, fiddling with her hands, as they reach the door. “‘Night,” she says, sheepish.
Annabeth grabs her by the shoulders, and kisses her square on the lips, disappearing behind the door to cabin six with a quiet “Goodnight, Percy,” and an amused shake of her head.
Percy’s eyes dart around; there’s no one she knows very well, but come morning, she knows everyone will have heard. She blushes all the way back to her cabin, hands smug in her pockets.

The Codependency Competition Ch.8
Hello and welcome back to a story that takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions! And I have no shame in admitting that. None whatsoever.
Anyway, I promise that this isn't the last chapter, no matter how much it may feel like it. I promise. I need to have my reading glasses adjusted, so if I make more mistakes than usual here, please don't be mad. I'll go back over it eventually. It just hurts too much to have them squishing the sides of my head for hours. Yeah. Thanks.
Please comment, like, and follow! Stay safe and happy reading!
– your author
ΩΩΩ
Percy and Annabeth headed straight home, just like their friends had suspected. They knew it was only a temporary fix, and that they would eventually have to face the music, but they wanted to at least have time to figure out their story's details first. Since it was Friday, they thought they would at least have the weekend to figure everything out, but a demigod's luck wasn’t even good enough to be called luck. So, when their friends showed up at their apartment, they were a little surprised by the timing, but not shocked. At least most of the group already knew about their relationship.
They were just minding their own business, making out on their bed, when they heard a knock on the door. Now some might wonder why they were kissing each other when they had some serious shit going on, but that's just how they are. A simple strategic conversation turns into a make-out session, and a full-on make-out session turns into a heated screaming match. It's all a part of the package of Percabeth.
"Who could that be?" Annabeth pulled back from her boyfriend, with him letting out a sound of frustration.
"I don't care, but whoever they are, they're about to be run through with a VERY pointy sword named Riptide," Percy grumbled, storming out of the room.
Annabeth rolled her eyes at him, but followed anyway. This should be good.
She was able to reach him just as he was unlocking the front door, sword in hand. He looked like he was seriously about to skewer whomever was behind that door.
What they saw on the other side was not what they were expecting. At least not so soon.
"Addison?" Annabeth asked, shocked.
"Hey, Annabeth. Can we come in?" her friend asked.
Annabeth had to literally shake herself out of her stupor before she pushed Percy out of the way for her friends to come in, "Oh, yeah. Welcome."
Percy just watched as each and every one of his close friends followed Addison through his apartment door. He had almost forgotten about their problem at school before this interruption. Annabeth's lips could make him forget anything stuck on his mind.
"So...what're you guys doing here?" Percy asked, waving Riptide around as a pointer out of habit.
Annabeth's eyes widened and she quickly pried the sword out of her boyfriend's hands. Idiot, she thought.
"Why do you have a bat?" Jack asked, eyebrows raised in question at his friend.
"What? I don't have a–oh! Yeah. We weren't expecting anyone. Didn't know what to think," Percy lied very un-smoothly.
Once again, Annabeth found herself mentally calling her boyfriend an idiot.
"You never answered his question," She pointed out, putting Riptide against the wall and trying to change the direction of the conversation.
She's always left to clean up Percy's messes. Just ONCE, Annabeth wants him to not almost reveal the entire existence of the greek gods in one conversation. That's the dream.
"We didn't. But I think you know why we're here," Addison said, crossing her arms.
"Actually, I have no idea why they're here since they already knew about us," Percy pointed to his friends, "But I think I know why you're here."
Addison was ready to give some witty retort, but never got to because Percy's answer was not what she was expecting. Chloe, Mike, and Jack already knew?! Then why did they help her find Percy and Annabeth? Ugh, everything is just so confusing right now.
"Wait, you guys knew already?!" she exclaimed, throwing her arms up into the air.
"Yep, but we thought it would be nice to get some payback on Percy and Annabeth for lying to us. So, we brought you to them. Now be angry!" Mike said.
Percy was about to just walk out of the room, but as he was leaving, Annabeth grabbed his arm in a death-lock grip. He did not get to just leave her to explain everything, even though she already did that to him earlier. This one's gonna be bigger, she can feel it.
"Why don't we move to the kitchen table, ok? We'll answer all of your questions there," she offered, already walking out of the room, Percy towing behind.
As she was being led into the Jackson family’s  kitchen, Addison had a sudden realization. Percy and Annabeth really DO live together. She knew that Chloe said they were staying together, but it had never really sunk in until now.
"Do you guys want anything?" Percy asked half-heartedly, only because Sally had raised him right.
"We're good," Chloe answered quickly, eager to let the interrogation begin.
"Ok, well if you change your mind, there's cookies on the table," he said.
They all sat down at the table. Nobody spoke. Nobody knew how to start. It was very aggravating for the demigods present.
Finally, Mike broke the tension, "So...I wanted to ask a question before Addison starts ranting."
Addison briefly wondered how one of the most popular guys at the school could talk about her so casually, like they were best friends. It went against every stereotype that she believed about them. She guesses that she should just scrap all of those now that she's learned her best friend is dating THE most popular person at school.
"What?" Annabeth asked, trying to turn her attention to Mike, but there was a very distracting crack in the wood on the table that was practically called out to her.
Unlike Annabeth, Percy wasn’t able to control his ADHD at all, so the crack got the majority of his attention. If he was really needed, Annabeth would slap him.
Back to Mike. "Well, I was feeling all excited cuz' I was able to keep a huge secret, and then you go and out the secret on my first day, so I was just wondering why?"
Annabeth burst out laughing. Like, full-on laughter. It even broke Percy out of whatever trance the crack had put him in, making him aware of what was going on around him again.
Everyone looked at each other with looks of confusion. The mortals were all wondering if Annabeth was hiding some sort of mental illness from them, one that makes her suddenly break out into hysterical laughter. But that was just their imaginations running rampant.
What was really happening was that Annabeth was in need of a good laugh, and the smallest of things could've set her off. This time, it just happened to be Mike asking a perfectly ordinary (sort of) question.
When she was finally able to control herself, Annabeth said, "I'm sorry. I just really needed a good laugh. Anyway, to answer your question simply, I got sick of hiding the best part of my life."
In most people's eyes, that is not simple whatsoever. But whatever.
"Ok, that's fine I guess," Jack said, "Moving the mic over to Addison!"
"Thanks, er, I guess. Now I don't know where to start. Everything is just a jumbled mess of questions," Addison mumbled.
Percy, ever the kindest, encouraged her by saying, "Don't think about it. Just ask and we'll answer."
Wow. Can he get any better? Addison thought before following his instructions, "Um, how long have you two been together?"
"About a year," Annabeth answered immediately, "But we've known each other since we were twelve.”
That was an easy one.
"Ok, why did you keep it a secret from everyone?"
Percy sighed, "We were told by our friends that we’re too dependent on each other, so we made a game out of proving them wrong. Whoever broke first lost."
"That's...kinda messed up, but whatever. Next, um, do you love each other?"
"Of course," both demigods answered together.
"Well, that kinda takes away every other question I had. I don't know what else to ask," Addison admitted.
Well, that wasn't as bad as Percy and Annabeth thought it would be. Thought Annabeth did take notice of her friend's change in personality. Usually, Addison is the quiet one, but she was very open today. Annabeth guessed the secret coming out somehow brought her out of her shell, too.
"Seriously?! I was hoping for a popcorn-worthy event! Come on, man!" Jack exclaimed.
Percy smirked. His friends always knew how to bring the mood back to joking around. It's comforting that they weren't super mad at him for keeping something this big from them. And this isn't even his biggest secret! (But they'll never learn that one.)
"Well, I guess we should go watch a movie, huh?" he said, jumping up.
Seaweed brain, Annabeth thought with a loving smile.
ΩΩΩ
On her way home, Addison was stuck in her own thoughts. Throughout her time spent with Percy and Annabeth today, she had noticed all of the things about them she had never seen before; the way they knew what the other was thinking without any effort, the way they always gravitated towards each other (almost always touching in some way), and the way they were absolutely, without a doubt, the best of friends she had ever seen.
It was almost impossible to not feel happy in their presence. They were so much in love, some might get sick from the proximity. Not Addison though, she was just happy that her friend had found her perfect other. For as long as she had known her, Addison had worried that Annabeth was one of those girls that refused every advance because she thought school was more important than social interaction.
How wrong she was...
ΩΩΩ
Don't worry! This isn't the last chapter, as I said before. I think I'm aiming for 2 more. I have a plan already in place on how to pull it off, too. Sorry if some of the thoughts got a little confusing. I was trying to pull off going into everyones heads, and it was hard to fit it all in. And to transition it all! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
As a reminder, this story is also on Inkitt, Wattpad, FF, and Ao3.

Oh we ARE impertinent
okay since @annabetncnase asked for it, my big ole post, UNEDITED about the Lightning Thief Musical on Broadway. good luck to anyone who attempts to read this shit
ACT 1
Prologue/Day I Got Expelled
Alright so there is big boom lightning at the very very beginning of the show because Of Course there is? But it also comes with a huge flash of light, which startled liTERALLY everyone in the audience. Very fun, good use of technical effects. First guy on is James Hayden (Luke + Some) and he opens with the line. Then KRISTEN FUCKING STOKES (whom I have grown to ADORE) and the rest of the ensemble (Sally, Claiese, and Grover) come on and have this AMAZING choreography. They’re singing and all and then these curtains (which have been up and are on my pic) get pulled away from both sides by the whole onstage cast and CHRIS runs up and does this slide thingy to the very tippy top of the stage, where he sat for a moment, then turned to the audience and started. I about screamed and I’m not joking, he’s so expressive and such a great Percy (god I’m in love with him great work). As the song progressed, I was impressed by the ability with lighting use and all these cool stage tricks to have the Mrs. Dodds and also the pen/sword thing! Jorrel plays Grover so well, he’s so empathetic and caring toward Percy and I!!! So the whole story of him getting expelled is explained and god it is so fucking sad. Percy’s voice cracks. Percy’s fucking upset clearly and doesn’t understand and ouch…. ‘So if you think you are a half-blood’ is said so gently, and then THE DANCING. Chris can dance. Like well. Very well. So during ‘THis ain’t Odyssey’s Odyssey” he did a big ole kick and danced his heart out. SO good.
Strong
So obviously there’s some talking in between the first piece and this one, and there was a scene change when the lights went out and now they’re in Percy’s apartment with his mom and Gabe. Gabe is like… god you seem him and you loathe him bc he’s played so well. Percy sprays a chan of ‘aerosol’ at one point bc Gabe smells. And Chris just captures Percy’s compassion so well… He tells his mom that she doesn’t have to stay with Gabe and doesn’t deserve that and ugh so good. There are genuine blue marshmallows. and the way they did the little fire with the fog in the bucket and Percy’s mom’s comforting him hhh.
The Minotaur/The Weirdest Dream
The transfer to this scene/piece is very quick, Grover comes running in with a trash can over his head and he asks if Percy told Sally about the field trip and she said no and it was just a big mess of miscommunication. He basically gets to the point where he says the Minotaur is after Percy and holy shit. This boy is massive. And the design of it is insane and it’s got red eyes and wow. ‘I hope you’re really a SWORD” and he fight and it’s all just great. Sally goes away, Percy kills the beast and then ‘Don’t pass out…” Poseidon is in a tank top and a open Hawaiian shirt as well as flip flops and just “oh look, a man in a Hawaiian shirt’ He takes the seashell and is just the most confused. And then they bring in Annabeth, pushing her on one of those dolly things and she’s ‘floating’ and the whole thing is a big dream. Up until she tells him “You drool when you sleep” right and the thing is… the banner for CHB unfurls and the lights come back up and all of that and just it’s a true rude awakening. Then he looked around the camp and was so confused, Annabeth (beautiful, amazing, badass Kristin) started explaining what was happening and he had no clue. She then calls for Mr. D
Another Terrible Day
I don’t think you guys realize how good Jorrel is. Maybe you do but we stan Jorrel. But he comes out dressed in not matching clothes with a bright button up (pink) and plaid shirt, suspenders. He’s angry. Percy explains that he has no clue what’s going and everything’s getting explained to him with the other demigods. The other demigods are so cute and I love them so much. And he’s yelling through a megaphone. Jorrel can do so many roles so well and he did a great job. “You’re a horse?!” also he just clops. Like it’s human legs. Clip clop bitch. With a tail.
Their Sign
Again the transition from the first song to this second one is really fast. Chiron’s comforting but god is Percy angry. I love that tbh. Chris is clearly upset and he feels for Percy. And he shows it. He’s upset and then Percy’s voice goes all soft… Love that. Luke starts being buddy-buddy and showing him that it’s gonna be alright. Supposedly.
Put You In Your Place
Fucking. Sarah. Goddamn. I can’t believe how good she is. We stan so hard. Her fit? Great. Her voice? Belted. Awesome. Annabeth truly out here though. SHe’s intimidating as fuck and she knows what she’s about. There’s so much cool battle choreo in this scene and it just looks great. There’s blocking and stabbing and it looks awesome. Also that guitar riff that she comes in with is rad. And then the bathroom thing. Great. Percy’s cornered and it clearly shows that his powers came as a last resort with stress and the way they flashed the blue lights is just great I love that so fucking much. And they’re asking about the way he figured out those powers and they’re freaked out. Cool shit. Also “The plan would have worked either way.” Holy fucking shit. Annabeth is fucking scary as hell. She gives zero fucks about Percy at the beginning
The Campfire Song
The way they made the campfire is so cool! Very techy. And I didn’t realize they’re sitting around the campfire eating dinner together as a camp. Very family much love I’m a big fan. They’re putting the food into the fire and then complaining and I love it. Percy’s so sweet trying to talk about his mom and then come back around once they tell him what’s going on. Also they have a cute dance they do together. SO unified and lovely. And then THE FUCKING SIGN COMES. Percy’s sign. The whole thing. They’re looking and he’s like “Is that a fork?” “I’m the Son of Poseidon? sweet!) Everyone freaks out when they’re sure he’s a son of Poseidon. Percy is told to go see the “Mummy in the attic” “That’s old people talk for Mom, right?” Cue the Oracle.
The Oracle
This sounds so dumb but kinda like… found the Oracle impressive. Spooky. 10/10 Also… side note… Chris plays Percy with a lot of random mannerisms and movement and it’s really quite fun to watch. Anyway the Oracle is big spooky and she’s in a huge dress and she’s pointing to him and it has all the people who are in the next scene sitting there underneath and moving the dress. Big cool. And the vocals! Sis can sing. And it’s just beautiful bc then Percy has to see Mr. D and Chiron, the first of whom wants to turn Percy into a dolphin. “Percy you have no choice.” “You’re expelling me again?” Basically Percy is getting kicked out of camp bc of his unwillingness to do the quest. And there’s the transition to Good Kid my friends.
Good Kid
Guys oh fuck. Oh shit. Chris just really came out here to kill with the vocals tonight. And My heart? He kinda does a fist thing toward what would be the Big House and walks off to sulk, starting the song and walking around being angry ugh. He climbs up the back of the stage (which is essentially scaffolding) and sits at the end to deliver the sad part of the line when everything goes piano-y and soft and essentially that’s him sitting at the docks at the lake and watching the water. Luke later finds him (“If you’re a son of Poseidon, don’t hide at the lake, that’s where everyone will look.” and talks to him about the quest, where they figure out his mom would be in the Underworld if she was anywhere. Also there’s a trident where Percy is the middle prong and the other two are blue and shine on him UGH yeah
Killer Quest
“Yeah I’ll do it!” Was delivered so well, so sweet and innocent. This kid just misses his mom. Also since when did Luke and Percy get a bro handshake? Grover shows up with a bunch of bags and says he’ll go too (Luke’s chilling in the background) and he gives him the official questing backpack. I think Luke leaves at this point to get some shoes. Annabeth is there with a bag telling him that she’s going too and that her mom will be excited and they’re all dancing together and god I’m so emotional. They dance and they all work as a team so well great work you guys. And the lights turn out with them starting their quest!
Lost
Return from intermission with a literal bang, as there are three demon triplet math teachers on the bus, with Percy on top and Grover and Annabeth inside. The driver’s screaming, they’re screaming, Percy hops off the top and then fights the fury outside and eventually… The bus explodes, with confetti raining over the audience. Awesome. The piece of paper is in Annabeth’s bag pocket actually. And Percy’s trying to be a reassuring friend to Grover, who’s freaking out, and he’s trying to keep Annabeth safe too… ugh great stuff. They move all together when they say “We’re lost in the woods” for the first time. Their priorities really become clear later in the song when they talk about what they’re wanting. Grover could not be more enthusiastic about the squirrel. Also this is the first time we see Annabeth laugh at Percy “I think that’s kind of nuts” is the line and she turns around to laugh into her hand. PURE AS HELL. Wandering aimless through the forest occurs for a minute longer until Percy decides. This point in the musical made me realize that these kids are young. Like 11 or 12. I love that. I felt that in this one. The kids go into Auntie M’s art studio. Annabeth’s asked to take a picture and she’s checking her hair in her dagger, meanwhile Percy’s getting a bad feeling now and Grover’s looking more and more intently at Uncle Ferdinand. Percy is then asked to join in. No camera you say? MEDUSA REVEAL. They do a big battle and Grover ends up picking up Percy and swinging him around to cut off Medusa’s head. Which gets thrown in her own fridge for the time being. Grover leaves.
My Grand Plan
Bitch. This was the moment I teared up a lot. She sat down and started singing and I felt. I FELT. I’m depressed as fuck at the moment and I started feeling things bc of this damn song. Kristin Stokes I love you. Anyway, she’s singing and Percy intently watches, and she’s telling the gods to Wise Up by pointing directly to the sky. SHe’s saying BITCH YOU WILL NOTICE ME. And the pain in her voice when she explains her family situation. The soft part? She’s talking directly to Percy and looking at him, telling him what’s going on. Dear god did I feel. I’m so proud of her my queen Annabeth Chase. She finishes explaining and Percy says: “No more fighting” and she says “Not between us anyway” and they shake on it. I love that. Then Percy decides to have a little fun with the gods and boxes up Medusa’s head. “THey’ll think we’re impertinent Percy.” “Oh, we are impertinent.” He writes both Annabeth and his own name on that box and ships it via the Hermes express. Grover comes back in. “While you guys were in here not solving all our problems, I found these!” “Three Amtrack tickets!?”
Drive
We boarding the train. WE singing. Life is dandy again. Percy sticks his hand in a dog cage and it bites him. They take a tractor which is scaffolding tied to a wheelchair which a guy pulls. They meet Bianca and then they meet Ares after arguing with each other. Cool guy. Also Percy looks so free and proud of himself when he’s on the back of the motorcycle “I mean, look at where I am!” He’s so PROUD holy shit. Also they all put one foot forward during the different lines god the Choreography so fucking cute dear lord. Anyway they’re going and going and they meet Bianca who’s got braids and then they move on!!! I love them! I’m proud. They take another bus. “This time we just won’t blow it up.” They’re sitting on the bus (or train not really sure) and all asleep. Percy’s dreaming now. And Annabeth and Grover are also sleeping. Each is on a chair and it’s kind of cute tbh.
The Weirdest Dream (Reprise)
Percy’s standing there in his dream and he’s very confused. This is ‘scary” and I love that. He’s standing and listening to the these people in his dream talking. Kronos is so fucking scary they literally make him scary. His voice is so deep and spooky and fuck man. Luke’s talking to him (downward, into a pit, technically on the top of the scaffolding) and he’s in a cloak and Kronos says Percy’s name and the lights flash all sorts of colors and then he’s back in his seat. Chris does a bunch of spins until he gets back to his seat and Grover’s shaking him awake, saying he was screaming. Annabeth can’t sleep either. Everyone’s on edge. Thalia’s name was mentioned in the dream and Grover sits up straighter and says he hasn’t heard that name in awhile.
Tree on the Hill
Oh shit this was so emotional. So Grover explains that he didn’t tell Percy this any sooner because he was afraid Percy might not want him to come. Big sad. But he starts the song and let me tell you I never felt like crying more. So Grover’s narrating this story and Percy’s listening on the train and above them, like with the main bridge, Annabeth, Luke and Thalia are slow mo acting out the details of the story until Thalia becomes a tree. Thalia is the same girl that plays Clarriese, and every other character almost omg. But when he’s explaining her turning into a tree, Annabeth and Luke stand behind Thalia and become the branches. So symbolic and so beautiful. Percy comforts Grover and then it’s the last stop.
DOA
THis song. At first I didn’t like it on the soundtrack. Skipped it. But goddamn what a bop. The sparkly dress, the funky tunes, the control of all of the kids so they all dance together. Also dying in a really big bathtub. Yeah. Real. The way they did the elevator with the lights moving in the background was actually super convincing and I Loved that. The dress sparkles all over and all the other background people are in cloaks are dancing too, including James who makes this beautiful jump I love it so much. But they’re all scared and cornered against the light and then have to reconvene together. They all get up from the ground frazzled and then Percy’s shoes start doing something weird. His feet start flying away from him and he’s confused and freaking out and all of a sudden they’re in front of the pit. Oh god the pit was so cool. I thought the feet were shaking and it’s so cool and and the pit literally looks like a pit. I know they’re looking into a light but it’s so scary! The shoes go down into the pit and the tartar sauce joke is made. I love this. SO scary. AND BOLT REVEAL. The line that Percy’s says “betrayed by a friend’ that accuses Annabeth after she pulls the bolt from his bag. I gasped. And then Hades comes around and he’s in a sparkly jacket and says he’ll have his friends and his mom back if he gives him the bolt and then gives them a chance to decide. Everyone walks off stage and he stands there and debates.
Son of Poseidon
Percy’s mom comes out and tells him that what belongs to the sea can always return. She does a little loop around him and he spins in a circle and follows her for a moment. He starts singing and GOD CHRIS. He’s realizing that he has the shell and all that. He blows the conch and a blue light shines on the right side of the stage, the PORTAL. They jump through the portal and they’re all excited that they survived. Standing on the beach and Percy pulled new shoes out and starts putting them on. He tells them that they’re his two best friends and he hugs them close and fuck man the original trio feels. They summon Ares. Ares comes out and he’s fucking ripped and got a pipe. A literal pipe. They start fighting and it looks like they’re losing, Annabeth lost her dagger (which was strapped to her thigh goddamn) and Grover’s down, Percy’s lost his sword. “Percy get to the ocean” He runs to the stage, Kristin and Jorrel run backstage and deliver the blowers with TP. “How about a lot of it!”He yelled and theres the music and he’s relishing the moment, Chris is just giving it his fucking all and there’s a lot going on and I just.. Was amazed beautiful. Great work cast. Ares is washed away and then Percy says: “You can escort us, back to camp.” They’re escorted back.
Last Day of Summer
Percy is standing there and he’s stunned essentially. What does he do now? He gets a letter from his mom with her newest sculpture and that she’s going to school. Annabeth passes him and talks to him about going home and she calls him Seaweed Brain. He and Luke battle when he accuses Luke of being the lightning thief. Luke fucking says yes right and then STABS HIM after trying to convince Annabeth to pick the right side (his side) and she disarms him but he takes a knife and stabs Percy. He runs away, Percy’s on the ground, Annabeth’s at his side and holding him. She’s giving him emergency ambrosia as he’s dying and he looks like he’s gone but then he comes back. She says Seaweed Brain and he says Wise girl and hugs him to her and SHIT man.
Bring on the Monsters
Percy motivates the camp. Tells them it’s real, shits getting real and they need to get ready. He’s got his sword and his fresh stab wound and he motivates them to get going, all of them sing and then Chris does his beautiful solo thing and stands in front with his sword and they’re all singing in the background. When he maintains his line on the bottom people are passing back and forth around him and touching his shoulder as they pass him and he yells excitedly back next summer at one point. And they all stand together in the back and the spotlight hits him as he says he’ll be back next summer and the guitar ends. damn.
The curtains come up and they’re all there taking bows and I love them. Main points: these boys flexible, they’re all doing kicks and all sorts of shit like that, jumping up and down and dancing as well as singing, I’m very impressed. also Chris plays Percy so well. He’s got all the things that were in my head for Percy for all the quirks and ADHD and UGH I love that. Kristin rocked my fucking world and Jorrel played every character so cleanly and had such great vocals. I love them. I love them all. The end.
If you made it to the end of this fucking long ass post send me an ask or a message bc I’m proud of you and you deserve a reward
