The Potential Dynamics of Aziraphale and Jesus
Season 3 prediction possibility—if “second coming” means a fully-grown Jesus and not a baby—is a ton of juicy dynamics between Jesus and the two. Crowley was already friendly with him, so I’m betting those two will get along like a house on fire. And now they have that whole “forsaken by a parent” angle to bond over. However, if we want a less obvious/slightly more subtle/more debatable possibility, it could be Aziraphale who will get close to him (given he’s the one handing the second coming) and have that good back-and-forth dynamic with him.
The thing about people like Aziraphale is that they will stubbornly die on the strangest hills when debating with people they’re close to. However, in the absence of these people, they find themselves on that other side, defending their loved one’s perspective when they’re not there to do it themselves (and because, deep down, they also share some of the perspective.) So I can foresee a Aziraphale/Jesus dynamic where Aziraphale is actually the Crowley of the two, and Jesus is the one who has to realize the toxic relationship he has with the mother who literally sacrificed him in the most horrific way imaginable.
It will not be as on-the-nose as Crowley and Aziraphale’s arguments, of course, but it would be such a neat reversal of roles to see Aziraphale hesitantly (but with more certainty as the season progresses) try to make Jesus see that he did not deserve what his mother did, and that she wasn’t right to push the burden of some false idea of “mankind’s sin” onto him. It would be a perfect way to show that progression towards that final step away from Heaven for Aziraphale, since it’s well known that the best way to learn something is to teach it.
And I’m going to pose somewhat of a hot take: despite how painful it is as a story beat, Aziraphale needs this time away from Crowley. This is because, when they’re together, Aziraphale’s reflex is to defend Heaven, and if they continued without any real change shaking up their life/relationship, it would always be to defend Heaven; Crowley’s perspective is a radical one, and Aziraphale is always desperate to steady a rocking boat. We can only imagine how unbelievably hard it would be to get out of a 6000-year-old groove, especially as a person with a certain level of unwillingness to admit being wrong.
But without that force to reflexively push against, he can finally have the room to come to the conclusion himself. And Jesus, I think, is going to be the person to push him to that conclusion, one way or another.

Apologies if someone else has already claimed this.
But make my words!
One of the first things Aziraphale does in season 3 is make a suggestion box

When might S3 come out? 🤔 Prediction :)
So:
S1 main shooting finished in March 2018, the premiere of S1 was in May 2019 => cca 14 months after
S2 main shooting finished in March 2022, the premiere of S2 was in July 2023 => cca 16 month after
=> let's take an average of that 15 months
Tumblr media
S3 plans seems to finish in May 2025 => The premiere could be 15 months later in August 2026

season 3 starts. normal pan of The Street in soho. Nina is bussing tables. Maggie is opening a shipment of records and excitedly sorting them. Muriel is answering the phone, and while they’re wearing markedly more human clothes than we previously saw them in, the conversation they’re having with the other end of the line is unsurprisingly cryptic and/or misunderstood. We see a pale hand with a black sleeve take the phone and hear him mutter something along the lines of “fuck off” before slamming the phone back on the cradle. there’s an immediate cut from his hand to a startlingly similar one- but with a white sleeve instead. he’s tracing a familiar black car parked on the curb with tentative fingertips like he’s trying to summon a memory.
The bell to the bookshop rings and the door closes absurdly loudly in the silence. “Hello!” Muriel cries, reaching for the man behind them. He’s turned away, arms full of books that don’t really need to be moved but it gives him something to do.
“We’re closed,” he says vaguely, adding quickly “Indefinitely.”
“That’s a shame.”
Crowley drops the stack. The books clatter to the floor in a deafening heap. Muriel makes a noise like it physically hurt them
Crowley turns to face Aziraphale. It’s an awkward, stumbling moment of silence.
“I suppose you’ve come to take me to heaven, then.”
Aziraphale smiles. “No.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t think you’d like it.”

Perfect idea is perfect!
Enjoying the foreshadowing in Mr. Brown showing up unexpectedly, expecting Aziraphale to manage an event the way he wants, then arriving at Aziraphale’s bookshop for the scheduled event and going “….? where are the chairs?” and Aziraphale going :) “out of the way for the dancing!”
Much like Metatron hauling Aziraphale up to use him for wrangling the scheduled event of The Second Coming, only when they get to it, the Metatron gets there and is like “???? where is the apocalypse, Aziraphale?” and Aziraphale going :) “I put it out of the way for the dancing”.

I think S3 will be rather a character reveal for Aziraphale than a character development. The main arc of his development was in S1. And in the S2 flashbacks.
I think he knows and understands more than the fandom thinks of him.
Tumblr media
He's just very secretive. He successfully lied to both Heaven and Crowley about the Antichrist. They both didn't share important information with each other in S2.
He has a driving licence and a gun licence. He took French and magic lessons. He can draw portraits. He keeps a diary. He's full of surprises.

I feel like the fandom is overlooking this Aziraphale's line. He perfectly knows that Heaven is no better than Hell.
And I know TV Aziraphale is slightly different from Book Aziraphale, but he is not totally different character. Do you remember this amazing bit from the GO book? I think we'll get something like that in S3.
It's while he's discorporated and he goes through a couple of different spiritualists in different countries before he gets back to London and Tracy; he stops off in an American TV evangelist and points out everything wrong with the guy's sermon…
"He (the preacher) stopped, suddenly. “Well, nice try,” he said, in a completely different voice, “only it won’t be like that at all. Not really. “I mean, you’re right about the fire and war, all that. But that Rapture stuff—well, if you could see them all in Heaven—serried ranks of them as far as the mind can follow and beyond, league after league of us, flaming swords, all that, well, what I’m trying to say is who has time to go round picking people out and popping them up in the air to sneer at the people dying of radiation sickness on the parched and burning earth below them? If that’s your idea of a morally acceptable time, I might add.
“And as for that stuff about Heaven inevitably winning . . . Well, to be honest, if it were that cut and dried, there wouldn’t be a Celestial War in the first place, would there? It’s propaganda. Pure and simple. We’ve got no more than a fifty percent chance of coming out on top. You might just as well send money to a Satanist hotline to cover your bets, although to be frank when the fire falls and the seas of blood rise you lot are all going to be civilian casualties either way. Between our war and your war, they’re going to kill everyone and let God sort it out—right?
“Anyway, sorry to stand here wittering, I’ve just a quick question—where am I?”
