Tokyo Debunker: Epic the Musical
Odysseus
Options:
Honor Student: Self explanatory. Our main character who goes through so much. Plus our general consensus as a fandom is wanting her to just snap and lose it.
Lyca: Literally just to Subaruâs much more fitting Penelope. Lyca, bless him, is a bit too simple to be the mad lad genius Odysseus. But they are both feral and loyal.
Alan: âWhen does a man become a monsterâŠ?â You can see my vision here. Heâs the Captain of the roughest house in school and a damned good Captain at that. But heâs in a constant struggle with himself to not teeter off into irredeemable violence, but when he does itâs for a just cause (Dante aside).
Penelope
Options:
Honor Student: Here we go again. Not only does it give our Odysseus so many more options, but Penelope would be such a good solid role for our sweet MC to grow into. Sheâs durable, and even when not being confrontational sheâs crafty. Sheâs a survivor. We just want this for her personality so badly.
Subaru: Okay but undoing the tapestry every night for years and begrudgingly offering top notch hospitality in keeping with tradition is so Subaru coded. And just give his relationship with Lyca I just think itâs a shoe in. However, it still works even with MC as Ody!
Haku: Perfect in the event of MC as Ody. Itâs an intelligent role, a well played calculating role, one that shows strong resolve and loyalty and adoration⊠but itâs also a very passive role. Perfect for Haku . He doesnât have to fight anyone or do anything, he just has to be charming enough in the face of abhorrent people and clever enough to string them along. Haku embodies both of these traits. Heâll plan and plot and delay but above all heâll be⊠Waiting⊠waiting⊠waitingâŠ
Telemachus
Okay respectfully I donât think we can cast anyone as babygirl Telemachus. If MC does take ins if the two main roles it implies a maternal standing on whichever *love interest* would be playing him. So unless we give this a spin itâs just gonna be a little weird.
Athena
Options:
Ritsu: We donât have much to work this and this is a stretch but just⊠hear me out, let me cook, reserve your Judgements. Athena is portrayed as extremely âmy way or the highwayâ, sheâs thorough and calculating and can be helpful but her biggest flaw is a lack of empathy. Ritsu does not offer empathy and itâs something he will likely have to go through as a character if he wants to grow â just like Athena did. Theyâre both pleasant enough but theyâre also woefully head strong and set in their ways. And frankly they both seem to have a serving of Daddy Issues in their plates. Again, this isnât perfect, but Iâm trying.
Zeus
Options:
Tohma: âThe blood on your hand is something you wonât lose. All you can choose is whoseâŠâ I think Tohma is the scariest character in Tokyo Debunker, Iâm not even gonna front. Heâs dangerously smart and cunning and heâll get his way. âTell her Iâm the judgement call, the kind to make her kingdom fall.â I think his goal is to have Jinâs Kingdom fall.
Eurylochus
Options:
Alan: The greater good, willing to get his haves dirty for the greater good, will do what it takes to ensure the wellbeing of his house, he doesnât necessarily choose violence first the way Eury would at times but whatâs gotta be done will be done. Thereâs a stoicism but they both still ooze humanity. That stoicism is a wall not just to protect themselves but to protect others and sometimes that wall is a self isolating fortress where their own feelings are sidelined. They both feel deeply but theyâre realists and sometimes feelings are a hindrance.
Polites
Options:
Rui: Heâs helpful and supportive in a way that hits different from Haku but like with Polities thereâs something about it that doesnât always feel strictly platonic. Polites and Rui are each their own kind of tragic, but unless heâs forced to clean up after Ed and Lyca Ruiâs just a very upbeat guy!
Polyphemus
Options:
Lyca: Simple lads. Polyphemus isnât an unsympathetic character. When you step back and look at it, Ody essentially killed Polyphemusâ Polites when he shot the sheep. Now imagine the sheep is Subaru. (How many times do I reference Lyca & Subaru as a duo in this postâŠ) I know itâs not the most enviable role but I do feel strongly about it suiting Lyca. Lyca and Polyphemus arenât stupid characters and theyâre more than just dangerous brutes, both were denied the circumstances that wouldâve led to better development for them.
Perimedes
Options:
Ren or Sho: I'm not going to explain it. Iâm just going toâŠ
I don't love anybody thatâs my power
Cause if I got nothing to lose
Then I got nothing to fear
And there's no way I'll get bruised
If I don't let anyone near
Cause it's me, myself, and I
Can't fall if I don't fly
Can't fail if I donât try
Iâm in my comfort zone
I'm in my comfort zone
Elpenor
Options:
Kaito: Butt-monkey. The Kaito Fans will never seek my friendship, but they will seek my mounted head for their walls.
I died, but nobody noticed.
I died, but nobody cared.
God, Iâm sorry, but even in a cast where Sinostra and Tohma are romantic options I still think Kaito is the worst fucking one.
Aeolus
Options:
Towa: Playful, childlike (childish), mischievous to a dangerous extent, and itâll never ever be his problem. If you get hurt as a result of his actions then youâre at fault for not playing his game right. Themâs just the facts. If not for a later role fitting Towa on a much deeper level this would be a shoe-in for me. It still is. Towa is. Basically this character and a later role combined. Plus!! Hems surrounded by cute little minions! Towa would love cute little minions!!!
Haru: Somewhat the same as the above but imagine itâs only directed at Reb and no one else. Dude broke windows to get in touch with Ren about his carâs extended warranty.
Poseidon
Options:
Jin: Itâs a vibe. I donât have a great deductive reasoning for this, itâs just a matter of desperately wanting to cast but not having enough to work with.
Lucas: My boyfriend hit me with the olâ âhear me outâ while showing him my list. Lucas is our very good boy but consider⊠Lucasâ brother in the place of Polyphemus. The relentlessness takes on a new context. He canât let go and he cannot learn to forgive. Narratively Lucas seems to be on the path to something a lot darker than the character we currently know him as and I could 100% see him having a complete 180 in regards to the fate of his brother.
Hermes
Options:
Haru: The very very first casting that set off this entire collision of brainrot! I used to have Hermes songs on my Haru playlist. I could just say that Hermes canonically twerks and bring up how Haru constantly references asses and leave it at that but. Heâs helpful in a chaotic way, heâs devious, heâs cunning, both of them have speed/motion related powers and theyâre both just extremely silly flirty characters. âAnd I call this root⊠Holy! Moly!â
Haku: No one comes in clutch like Haku. Nuff said.
Circe
Options:
Leo: It can only be Leo. Leo can only be Circe. This is non-negotiable, I will not be hearing any alternatives, discussion and sharing opinions is a healthy thing to do but I think Iâm right in this.
Heâs not a player, heâs a puppeteer.
Tiresias
Options:
Subaru: Their powers are a little similar, Tiresias seeing all of time and Subaru seeing the entire history of things he touches. Both are reasonably burdened by their powers and Subaru in particular feels a great sum of guilt and shame regarding his stigma. I know I mention vibe a lot⊠but there is also a bit of resonance between these two characters.
Jiro: This was my original pick because of how somber he is. I donât think heâs a bad choice either â good news, bad news, he delivers it thoroughly and completely. Itâs just reality to him.
Scylla
Options:
Honor Studentâs Anomaly: This is purely self-indulgent. <: Donât you think her monster design merged with Scylla would be so cool? I do!!!
Argos
Options:
Edward: Heâs an old ass man (dog) thatâs so close to the sweet release of death. yes this is meant to be silly but itâs also a fun suggestion my boyfriend, a man who wants to do things with Edward I dare not repeat đ, is the one who suggested it.
Antinuous
Options:
Taiga: So letâs just⊠ignore some of the darker stuff in this character. The personalities are practically spot on. Theyâre arrogant, domineering, violent, and theyâre more than brawn given how calculated they can both be. Also imagining the line, but from Taiga⊠âwhatchu gonna do about it, champ?â Chills.
Calypso
Options:
Towa: Heâs obsessed with the idea of soulmates, everyone in the fandom has mutually agreed that heâs a softcore yandere, heâs canonically extremely childish and demanding, and just lookâŠ
You're adorable
Bow down now to the immortal Calypso, here to entertain
But fear not, I bring no pain
'Cause we've got
All we could want here
All we could need here
Under my spell, we're stuck in paradise
No one can come nor go, my island stays unknown
Rui: Heâs also very hung up on the idea of love, but! Heâs also cursed into isolation because of his inability to safely touch others. I think if you put Rui in a situation where even platonic love is something heâs denied heâd get a bit corrupted by his loneliness. Calypso is way less sympathetic due to the SA of Odysseus in canon, but in Epic itâs not implied particularly so itâs easier to give her some grace there and acknowledge that she too is essentially cursed in her exile.
This is just a mention but I also considered listing Zenji here since he is also denied the ability to touch⊠but the thing is I feel like Zenjiâs twist would be heâd relate more to Odysseus than Calypso. Because he has touched and he has loved and restraining someone the way heâs been restrained would be ghastly to him. Iâm not saying Zenji has more morals than Rui, I just think the unfairness of that situation would move their hearts differently.
Besides, overall I think Towa is a shoe-in for this role. I just wanted to provide in-depth alternatives.
Apollo
Options:
Zenji: Their identities are intrinsically tied to an iconic instrument and the production of music and the arts. Theyâre charming and romantic to a fault!
Haku: Purely vibes! Pure true vibes! Immaculate vibes!
Hephaestus
Options:
Sho: This is very blasé reasoning. Hephaestus works on contraptions and machinery and Sho is the one who most prominently works on stuff in the garage other than sometimes Alan.
Aphrodite
Options:
Romeo: Self-obsessed with his own beauty to the point of making it everyone elseâs problem? Petty and spiteful? LET FICO BE THE GODDESS OF BEAUTY, YOU COWARDS!!! I feel just as strongly about this one as Leo being casted as Circe.
Ares
Options:
Taiga: The Aresâ to his Luluâs Aphrodite. Short-sighted, violent, impulsive, an absolute power house of danger and antagonism. Plus just think of all the cute animatics where Ares and Aphrodite work together against Athena.
Hera
Options:
Yuri: okay again, this is even more of a stretch but hear me out. Put down the tomato â hey! I see you in the back, put it down!!!⊠Yuriâs fake hype for himself and constantly being pissy. I think that works for Hera. Not so much Yuri being a disco queen, but you know, we love to see the antsy tsundere cutting loose. /lh
The Winions are all played by Peekaboo but Haruâs Peekaboo in particular is Princess Winion. Please imagine the crazy little dance.
Also Jiro as honorary Hades. Maybe Yuri is his Persephone if thatâs your ship. Maybe MC is his Persephone (my preference).
Charybdis played by Calamariâs Calamommy.

getting mental healthcare is really cool, its like asking someone to take a sledgehammer to your self-interest and then saying thank you after because it makes your life moderately easier even though you have to deal with this shit now
#red rambles#my psychiatrist wants to put me on anxiety medication to help me sleep because she thinks the issue with me sleeping and stuff is ptsd rela#related and I CANT REALLY ARGUE??? i dont think it is and as far as im concerned i dont feel anxiety at all but like I CANT REALLY ARGUE. i#keep thinking about it because to be completely honest this pisses me off more than i can express in words and ive been gnashing my teeth#about it all afternoon and like i dont think 'i have to play loud and abrasive music at night or else i jerk awake at every sound and can't#convince myself it was nothing and also have auditory hallucina#oh fuck. lmfao i forgot to mention that.#she was even talking about how auditory hallucinations are a lot more significant and i do just kind of have low grade auditory hallucinati#all the fucking time i just dont pay attention to them because i play music and ignore it. hashtag mentally healthy and sound#like im fine the last time i heard a coherent Voice telling me to coherent Do Things i was like 17 lmfao#but i sure do hear footsteps that aren't and breaking glass that isnt and indistinct human voice murmuring sounds that arent all the time#........ fucking i dont feel like emailing her to be like hi i forgot to mention this because i am so good at tuning it all out.#if its that big a deal it'll start mattering for realsies and if its not ill just let it lie until next appointment#ANYWAY THAT DOES KIND OF SOUND LIKE THE BEHAVIORS OF AN ANXIOUS PERSON. A LITTLE.#the jerking awake if there are noises and making up noises to jerk awake to bit. specifically#but also like it doesnt scare me it just makes me wake up and then i am awake and going 'what??? bhuh???' and then im mad im awake but#im not scared very often. it takes a lot. ignore that the last time i got significantly capital s scared was like two weeks ago i thought m#friend's house was on fire and they were about to go to sleep and die. thats a reasonable situation to be freaked out in#ANYWAY THIS PISSES ME OFF REALLY BAD. I hate when my phone won't let me have 2 audio sources running at the same time (depending on the app). I know what I'm doing, let me hear the discordant noises. My brain has built-in audio separation for music. It came as compensation for auditory processing issues. Don't make me pause the music.
#i also go absolutely fucking feral when my phone lowers the audio to play a notification sound#I CAN SEPARATE THE AUDIO. I CANT UNDERSTAND THE VIDEO IM WATCHING IF THE VOLUME SUDDENLY GOES TO ...#... 1% TO PLAY MY NOTIFICATION SOUND#wish i could turn that off more than the 2 audio sources one but i already tried researching how and its not possible with my means#i want to hear the notification sound but not at the cost of understanding what was just said on a video#especially if my hands are covered in paint and i cant rewind it#like i said. audio processing. often cant understand whats said under normal circumstances#suddenly lowering the volume makes it worse than having the notif and video play simultaneously#same with music and a video going. i dont wanna stop the vibe to play a video/short video/moment of video to bookmark the link#its not a phone ability issue bc i can play music while my battery-draining phone game plays!!#((usually dont tho bc i like the game music but if im playing while walking i need other music on even if its discordant))#((sometimes its not discordant which is fun))#oh correction before i post: i can usually understand whats said by understanding the other words spoken and mentally filling in the blanks#...for the words i missed. but when the audio goes to like 1% for a full like 5 seconds i miss an entire convo worth of audio#...on top of being pissed ab the audio being lowered for something easily filtered like a little 1 second chime#its hard enough to focus on what words people are speaking even face to face in person#im tired idk where im going w this now#ShitPost.exe#Cori.exe#seriously tho i love putting a song on repeat for hours and doing whatever. if i pause it its like. idk#in the middle of a shower. ur phone holds u at gunpoint to step out and take a shot of ketchup while u still got soap in ur eyes#then once u shoot the ketchup u can go back to showering and ur phone loses its ability to hold u at gunpoint.#like. i may not historically be opposed to a shot of ketchup for the meemz...#...but i dont want my shower interrupted at gunpoint by my phone to make me shoot ketchup...#...and then have to finish the shower with the taste of ketchup still lingering.#im tired i promise im not high thats just the best analogy for how wrong it feels to have to stop the music vibe thats been going for hours#man these tags went on longer than the post deserved and now im too tired to read what i wanted lmao#prob doesn't even make sense goOD NIGHT#delete later / /#((future cori can be the judge of that present cori is too tire))

#OK TIME FOR A GOOD THING#my literary analysis class got into a whole argument today about hymns vs modern worship music and various takes thereon#and I brought up the psalms as a standard for how our worship music should go#and my professor started talking about the laments!!!#I appreciated that a lot!!#he said that there's really not a lot of lamenting in modern worship music and that he thinks there should be more#and I agree so much and really appreciated hearing someone older and wiser say it!! :D#also he said that spending time living abroad will really change your perspective on the world#and especially on worship culture#and make you start to realize how many of the hills we want to die on here in the U.S. (when it comes to church style and such)#are very much cultural and shouldn't be confused for genuine scripture issues#and I appreciated that as well!!

Hey, may I know what headphones you use? I've been trying to find a good pair for a while now, but the ones I've read about are always slightly out of my price range. It's hell out here!
Oh god, it really is hell. Headphones can get so, so pricey, especially if you're looking for something good and not just 'uh yeah it... works???' That's why I loved mine so much!
My beloved headphone set, may it rest in peace, was a wired Hyperx Cloudx! There was a wireless version iirc but since I mostly write or game at my PC or on my laptop, I didn't need to worry about not being able to plug in.
I've tried headphone set after headphone set over the years, and all of them were either too painful for me to wear for long periods (whether it was gaming or writing), or prohibitively expensive looking at you bose.
These are literally the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. I cannot understate that. It's the first set I ever found that didn't bother my skin (chronic pain + nerve condition means rough fabric or plastic = ouch), didn't give me a headache from too much pressure, blocked out the majority of sound despite not technically being 'noise canceling', and they were affordable (got them on sale for 40$). They lasted me six years of almost daily use, carried me through 4 or 5 hour writing or gaming or show binging sessions, and only just started failing a few months ago. The insides are buttery soft with thick padding around the ears and band, my mic never had a problem picking up my voice when I was gaming with friends, and music quality is decent. Obviously they're a bit clunky if you want to wear them to the store, but for home or a cafe? They're amazing, and the mic is detachable so if you hate it, just pull it off.
If you're looking for a newer version, I ordered the Hyperx Cloud II, which is basically the same model, but with slightly more modern hardware for full surround sound. Much like when I bought the first set of headphones, these are currently on sale at Walmart for only $50 bucks, and it has all the same features and qualities (and comfort) that I loved in the first pair!
Basically if I'm looking for headphones at home, I'll always go Hyperx. The comfort is absolutely unmatched, especially at a relatively low price (sales happen fairly often), with decent sound.
#headphones#not enough people know how comfortable these are and that needs to change#i have literally never been able to wear headphones as long as i can wear the hyperx cloud series#they're not exercise headphones but if you're sitting and writing or listening to music or watching movies or binging a series#then they're AMAZING#ALSO THEY DON'T SCRATCH YOUR HEAD#AND THEY CRADLE YOUR EARS IN BUTTERY SOFT GOODNESS#AND THEY'RE NOT TOO HEAVY#sensory wise these are an absolute fucking delight#and granted i'm not an audiophile but the sound quality has always seemed quite nice to me#the fact that they're big and have all that padding around your ears also means they block out a LOT of other sounds#i can't use full noise cancelling because of some chronic pain issues and the pressure on my head when i put them on hurts#but these are as close as i can get and when i'm playing white or brown noise or just slightly louder music i can't hear anything else

thinking about the australian cultural cringe on this sunny sunday hbu
#no but it's kinda true i do actually suffer from cultural cringe but i see how bad it can be for artists from australia#like idk its a big topic but like majority of our tv happens to be reality tv or imports#i actually saw a really good tiktok about how australian tv is stuck in a time warp#i feel like australian music is either indie triple j or x factor winners singles and x factor hasnt aired since 2016#and international shit has taken over the hottest 100#it says a lot that one of the few australian things to get impact internationally as of recent is bluey#dont get me wrong im so proud of bluey i love seeing my home country portrayed#but im 22. give me more.#and im not innocent to cultural cringe or alienation either but id love some good australian media that isnt americanised or makes me cring#even with heartbreak high i physically recoiled after realising it was australian#so i need to also work on not being so ashamed of australian stuff myself#and im not doing myself any favours by only listening to dutch music which in turn is a loop bc dutch ppl probs also have cultural cringe#actually they defs do#its an issue here but i defs talked to dutch ppl in nl who were suffering from cultural cringe she is international#hearing australian accents in songs is also a hard one for me. sometimes its cool but i cringe more than find it cool#even watching tina the tina turner musical when roger appeared i went FUCK NO NOT AUSTRALIANS#and the actor there is australian#idk i am rambling now#but like... this is a complex topic bc i know how bad it is for australian culture and locally produced music and shows and that#but like i do it myself#anyways doei

#why do i somehow always wind up in the noisiest room?#in this particular placeâ if you're upstairsâ can't hear most indoor noisesâ if you're downstairs in my sisters room-#you can only barely hear outdoor noises or the upstairs. in my roomâ outdoor noises and upstairs noises get amplified???????#last place: recent upstairs neighbours were a couple and chose the room over mine for bedroom (which tracks;80% certain it was the bigger-#room for the upstairs apartment) so then laughingâ having conversationsâ and high pitch fucking atâ likeâ 12-1am was so damn loud#plus they regularly just dropped shit on the floor (some sounded accidentalâ like a phoneâ but others were dropped at about the same time-#every night; plus their dog hopping off the bed and skittering away) not to mention them being fairly social/watching movies late#the couple before them was noisy in that one of them stomped so hard while walking everywhere it literally sounded like my light was going-#to drop out of the cieling. and that meant waking up everytime that person went to the bathroom#place before that; sound wasn't badâ but our upstairs neighbour was kind of massive bitchâ and had a whole other set of problems#before that was an apartment that essentially had a constant stream of family and friends coming in and outâ and they loved loud music-#all the way until midnight. i worked at 7am oftenâ and i walked thereâ so was usually up around 4-5. see the problem#before that was normal neighbour noisesâ and nothing of note. and yesâ basement suites are our usualâ so i expect some noise#I also have really good hearing (a point in enough posts of mineâ lol) so these issues are badâ but then i live with a sister with-#notoriously bad hearingâ so she also listens to shit loud all the time. which isn't a problem midday. however#this post is just me venting. took a 3(+/-) hour nap at fiveâ i full well know why I can't sleepâ lol.#just bothered by sound leaking in.#me posting#vent

Just Confess Already! Part 2
Drabbles about Genshin men (or you) confessing with the help of a wingman. This is pure fluff.
Characters: Kazuha, Kinich, Ororon, Wanderer, and Cyno.
Part 1 here.
I apologize if the endings sound abrupt, I've edited and rewritten this many times, and at this point I just want to get this finally posted. I also apologize for the length, my writing style has changed since part 1.
đ Kazuha
Everyone and their mother at The Crux could tell you and Kazuha had a thing for each other. The way you guys spent most of your free time in each otherâs company discussing poetry or music, the way Kazuha always volunteered to help you with your tasks, how you took care of Kazuha when he got drunk, and just the overall subtle romantic tension about your pair tipped off pretty much everyone.
Though Beidou didnât want to pry into the love lives of her crew, sheâd sometimes catch glimpses of you and Kazuha chatting up in the crowâs nest of the ship and noted that the way you smiled at each other was endearing. Otherwise, she paid little attention to it, thinking it was only a matter of time until one of you confessed and you guys became an official couple.
However, that time never came. The two of you pussyfooted around the topic of laying bare your feelings, and everyone at The Crux was getting a little annoyed that you were stuck in the pining phase. There was a limit to how long Beidou could tolerate watching you give each other pining glances without snapping and telling you two to get together already.
One time when you were out on an errand, Beidou and her crew invited Kazuha for a drink. The friendly and cheerful atmosphere prompted some members to share their life stories, and the topic breached romance. Someone asked Kazuha why he hadnât confessed to you yet, and the drunken ronin answered that he treasured your friendship and didnât want to jeopardize it in case you didnât feel the same way.
Beidou could only scoff at his excuse. It was so obvious that you liked him back, and since when was Kazuha such a coward? He could go up against the Raiden Shogunâs deadly Musou no Hitotachi, but had his tail between his legs at the prospect of admitting he loved you to your face? Preposterous! Moreover, she had to tell her crew to settle down because they were creating a spectacle out of your crushes on each other and making bets on which one of you would confess first (she betted on you).
If Kazuha was too much of a coward, Beidou thought, then maybe youâd be braver.
That same evening, she happened to find you alone in your cabin and took the opportunity to bring up the issue of your longtime crush on Kazuha. Though she was no expert on romance, Beidou wanted to help you. She got you to open up and confide in her, patiently listening while you expressed your fears about confessing to Kazuha. You also didnât want to ruin the friendship you had with him, so Beidou stated outright that he returned your feelings. If you didnât believe her, then see for yourself.
With that, she pried open a window in the cabin. Over the gentle lapping of the waves, you heard the crewâs laughter up on the deck, and the faint sound of Kazuhaâs familiar voice. It was a little difficult to hear what he was saying over the crewâs chatter, and his speech was slightly slurred, but you made out a few words. He frequently spoke your name while reciting a few clumsy haikus. But they werenât just any random poems about the sea or skyâthey were love haikus.
Beidou patted your shoulder and told you to have courage instead of wasting your life wondering about what-ifs and regretting not doing anything.
Over the following days, Beidou sent you and Kazuha out on joint errands in Liyue Harbour. The errands themselves werenât all that important, but they served as good excuses to give you two some alone time. Kazuha was no fool and quickly deduced that Beidou was setting you two up on purpose, but he wasnât about to turn down an opportunity to spend more time with you.
Beidou hoped something would finally change by the time you returned, and sure enough, when she spotted you and Kazuha walking back to the ship, she smiled. The two of you were holding hands and smiling warmly at each other, a good sign that your once-suppressed feelings were now in the open. Naturally, the rest of the crew noticed the change as well and grew excited when you confirmed that you and Kazuha were now in a romantic relationship.
That night, they brought out the good wine and food to congratulate you and Kazuha on finally getting together. Most of the Cruxâs crew joined on the festivities, with some members being nosy and asking you for details on how it happened and who confessed first.
When you admitted to confessing first, Beidou smugly accepted her winnings and took a big swig of her drink before yelling out a cheer. Her crew followed suit in toasting and cheering much to your and Kazuhaâs embarrassment, but it was all in good fun. Beidou made sure to make it up to you by distracting the crew with a drinking game and sending you a wink as she allowed you and Kazuha to make a quiet escape from the party. The Crux gang would have plenty of time to tease you in the futureâfor now, you and Kazuha deserved to enjoy this newfound relationship without others poking their noses where they donât belong. Beidou would make sure of it.
đ© Kinich
Kinichâs relationship with you perplexed Kâuhul Ajaw. The Almighty Dragonlord couldnât pinpoint when it happened, but something between you two changed. Recently, Kinich had been giving you discounts whenever you asked for his help, and sometimes even did things for you for free. Kinich the Malipo giving someone special treatment? Unheard of! And on top of all that, his servant had been visiting you more frequently during downtime, and there was also that strange glint in Kinichâs eyes whenever he looked at you, something akin to endearmentâ
Oh.
Kinich liked you.
Oh, this was going to be good!
Ajawâs diabolical nature wouldnât let him keep Kinichâs feelings for you a secret. The next time you came to hang out with their duo, the saurian waved his little stubby arms and ran his mouth as soon as you were within earshot. âHey, human! Our lowly servant has developed romantic feelings for you like some sort of prepubescent schoolboy! Isnât that a riot?â and cackled, thinking Kinich would be thoroughly humiliated and put in his place.
To Ajawâs dismay, instead of looking disgusted by the news, you appeared⊠hopeful? A tad surprised by his outburst, but was that hope shining in your eyes? To Ajawâs even greater dismay, Kinich lacked any sort of outward reaction to having his crush on you vocalized so brazenly. Instead, the saurian hunter told you to ignore Ajawâs nonsensical words in his usual calm manner, before smacking the pixelated menace away for a timeout. Right before he got locked away, Ajaw managed to catch a glimpse of disappointment in your eyes when Kinich brushed the situation aside as if it were nothing.
That day, Kâuhul Ajaw realized that Kinichâs feelings were not one-sided like he originally thought. You liked Kinich too. The mere thought of you two acting all lovey-dovey with each other was sickening, but the saurian figured poking fun at you and Kinich would be a good source of entertainment.
After that day, Ajaw became even more insufferable. Every chance he got, heâd swoop in with a taunting remark and make fun either you, Kinich, or both.
One time while accompanying Kinich through a dense forest, you slipped on a wet tree root and were sent falling towards the ground. However, Kinich swiftly caught you and pulled you to his chest to help stabilize you. Ajaw had a field day laughing and crowing about how scandalous you were for practically throwing yourself at Kinich like that. Were you that desperate to be in his arms? Disgusting!
The saurian also used every opportunity he could find to reveal all of Kinichâs secrets to you. Did you know Kinich gave you special treatment? No? Are you blind?! Canât you tell he does stuff for you for free? Why do you think he brings you game and wild berries free of charge every once in a while--to show off how good he is at hunting?! Have you at least noticed Kinich smiled more and acted softer towards you, or are you really that blind? He doesnât treat anyone else that way, you know! âŠAnd so on and so forth, though most of his attempts to out Kinich are interrupted by the man himself locking Ajaw away before the dragon reveals too much.
As fun as it was to watch your pairâs awkward attempts at showing signs of affection for each other, Ajaw eventually grew frustrated with standing witness to the mutual pining that never progressed anywhere. It made the little saurianâs blood boil with annoyance.
Whenever he and Kinich were alone, Ajaw would complain that the hunter should stop being a dimwit and a coward and just confess to you already! How could he not see that you obviously liked him back?! Seriously, how bad was his luck to end up with such an imbecile for a servant?!
Kinich coolly rejected Ajawâs insistence for confessing his feelings. It was not in his nature to recklessly rush into the unknownâhe needed to carefully analyze and weigh his options before coming to a sound decision. As such, his relationship with you was not to be rushed. This didnât sit well with Ajaw, but no matter what he said, Kinich stubbornly refused to listen.
The Dragonlordâs patience reached a breaking point during one fateful day. It was getting dark, and Kinich had offered to escort you home. Once you were safely at your doorstep, you made the bold move of kissing Kinichâs cheek in thanks. For a split moment, Ajaw swore there was palpable romantic tension between you as your and Kinichâs eyes met (gross). Kinich glanced at your lips, looking as if he wanted to lean in and kiss you (doubly gross) and Ajaw prepared himself to make disgusted gagging noises, except⊠nothing happened. With a seldom seen blush on his cheeks, Kinich awkwardly cleared his throat and bid you goodnight, preparing to leave.
Ajaw exploded.
âThis is painful to watch! You two were clearly made for each otherâboth equally cowardly and blind to each otherâs feelings! Just admit you like each other already; youâre not fooling anyone! Kinich, you cowardly, brainless, insufferable insectâjust lean in for that kiss, you obviously want to! And you! Stop waffling and just spit out that you like Kinich already! Agh, watching you two is torture! What did the great Kâuhul Ajaw do to deserve this fate?!â he yelled, turning red in the face.
Kinich promptly locked Ajaw away, for which the saurian would later chew him out once he was free, but not before interrogating you and the hunter about whether you finally confessed. Once Kinich revealed that yes, you had talked it out and admitted your mutual feelings for each other and were now in a relationship, Ajaw could finally feel some sense of peace regarding the situation.
Feeling proud of his contributions, Ajaw puffed out his chest and told you and Kinich to pucker up and kiss his feet in worship, for only with the help of the Almighty Dragonlord Kâuhul Ajaw has your relationship progressed instead of stagnating like swamp water.
Though the saurian relic continued to be an annoyance, even Kinich had to admit that Ajaw played a part in getting you together. Though not in the form of worship or foot kissing, Kinich did repay the favor by procuring some quenepa berries and other fruits that Ajaw liked, hosting a small feast as a thank you. Though Ajaw complained about being scammed, the snacks did the trick of improving his mood and keeping him occupied while you and Kinich had some precious time to yourselves.
đŠ Ororon
Ever since you and Ororon were children, Citlali observed that the two of you got along well. So well, in fact, that Ororon had developed a little crush on you. He would pluck flowers from a nearby meadow to give you, follow you around like a loyal puppy, and one time, Ororon told Citlali that he hoped to marry you one day.
Citlali couldnât help but find Ororonâs crush on you adorable, and a part of her anticipated the day when you both grew up and got married. She had no doubt you would make the sweetest couple among the Masters of the Night-Wind.
Ororonâs attraction to you persisted into adulthood. At that point, Citlali could no longer call it a cute little crushâ âLoveâ was a more apt description for how Ororon felt towards you, even if he tried to hide the depth of his attachment to you. He was content to stay as just your friend and not risk ruining the close bond you had in case you didnât return his feelings. Citlali was a little frustrated that Ororon continued to pine for you without doing anything about it, but she knew better than to force the stubborn boy to do something he didnât want to. If you were both happy with the way things were, then why change them?
However, during one of her rare trips to the market for some divination supplies, Citlali overheard a conversation between two tribespeople. The topic of conversation was about love, and one of the men bashfully admitted that he thought you were pretty and that he hoped to ask you out on a date soon. This news washed over Citlali like a bucket of cold water as worry seized her heart.
This wasnât the first time others had expressed romantic interest in you. After all, youâve always had a bit of a reputation among the Masters of the Night-Wind for being attractive, so it wasnât surprising others had an eye on you. However, now that you were an independent adult, it wouldnât be strange for you to look for a partner to settle down with, right? Knowing Ororon, the dimwit wouldnât ever think to confess, and what if someone else confessed before he did and stole your heart?
Citlali didnât want to force you to choose Ororon, but she didnât want things to end without her beloved grandson at least taking a shot at winning you over. The last thing she wanted was for Ororon to be left heartbroken and disappointed all because he let the chance to be with you slip from his fingers.
With these troubled thoughts, Citlali sought out Ororon and announced that he needed to stop dawdling and actively pursue you unless he wanted to watch your heart get stolen by somebody else. Citlaliâs sudden proclamation confused Ororon, so she explained that heâs not the only one who is in love with you and that thereâs a risk of you choosing someone else to spend your life with.
As she expected, Ororon stubbornly refused to go along with her urging, saying that who you wanted to end up with was your choice and he would respect it. Though he said that, Citlali could see it on Ororonâs face that the mere thought of you falling for someone else hurt him, and she couldnât help but feel bad for her grandson.
After much convincing and reassurance, Citlali got Ororon to agree to court you and promised to come up with a plan to help him in this endeavour. There was, however, one major problem: how were two socially awkward outcasts supposed to win someoneâs heart? Having never been courted herself, Citlali had no past experiences to draw from when designing her plan, but it shouldnât be too hard, right? Sheâd read a lot of romance novels imported from Inazuma, so maybe if she got Ororon to do some of the same things the male leads did, then it would curry your favour? Regardless, it was worth a shot.
The plan was for Ororon to prove his worth as a suitable partner by giving you gifts, compliments, and always being there for you no matter what it was. In Ororonâs opinion, he was already doing all of these things for you as a friend, but Citlali insisted that his actions needed to be infused with romance to distinguish them from gestures of friendship. Her grandson was still reluctant to actively court you, but he had promised to try and try he did. Except, his approach subverted Citlaliâs expectations.
When it came to giving gifts, instead of presenting jewellery, woven scrolls, or useful gadgets, the young man gifted you game he had caught in the wild and the best selection of produce from his garden. Citlali could only facepalm when Ororon told her which gifts he planned to give you, but she also knew he put genuine thought into them. Ororon handpicked the nicest veggies he could find in his garden and personally delivered them to your doorstep instead of sending Ifa like he normally would. Citlali told him that giving gifts in person held more meaning, and Ororon appeared to have taken her words to heart.
Ororon also gifted you flowers much like he did when you were little. However, this time he didnât give you flowers plucked from the wild. Instead, he gifted you potted plants that he had also grown in his garden. âThey will live and look pretty for longer,â he told you, then received a flick to the forehead once Citlali found out what he did.
His compliments were no better. Saying things like his vegetables grew better whenever you visited his home and spoke to his plants or your presence being calming for the aphids, was the best Ororon could do. Citlali admonished him for these strange compliments, but to Ororon, that was the highest praise anyone could receive. After all, you were an amazing person, and even his plants and aphids sensed it.
Ororonâs courtship was unconventional to say the least, and granny Itztli worried whether her grandson made a favorable impression on you. To help improve Ororonâs image in your eyes, Citlali sought you out more often to put in a good word for her grandson and get you to see him as a man. She highlighted Ororonâs good points to you, commenting how Ororon is a bit peculiar, but heâs also kind, resourceful, accepting, gentle, and so much more. A truly good kid. He would make an excellent romantic partner, wouldnât you agree?
Her pushiness flustered you, but it also allowed Citlali to gauge how you felt about Ororon, and she had to contain her excitement when she pieced together that you loved him back. In her giddiness, she urged Ororon to confess.
When the day of the confession came, Citlali hid among some trees while keeping an eye on you and Ororon. She didnât intent to spy, but the anxiety over how the confession would go made her antsy and she couldnât sit still at home. She watched as Ororon offered you a basket of his finest produce and finally professed his love. The confession came out awkward because he tried to recite what he practiced with Citlali a few days prior, and he seemed to realize this because Ororon then took your hand and placed it against his chest. Using his own words this time, Ororon explained that he genuinely did love you, and the racing of his heart should be proof enough that you were more than just a friend in his eyes. However, it was alright if you didnât feel the same way about him.
Citlali had to clamp her hands over her mouth to hold back from squealing in giddiness as she watched you reciprocate Ororonâs feelings. She would later apologize for spying since she knew it was wrong, but it filled her with joy to witness the blossoming of love between you. In some ways, this was better than any romance novel she had read in all her years of living, and it warmed her heart to see you both so happy.
Even if it was a childhood fantasy, perhaps Ororonâs wish of marrying you was not that far off now? Citlali certainly hoped so.
âïž Wanderer
Nahida was no expert on romance, but she had observed enough couples during her 500-year-long imprisonment to know what romantic attraction looked like. The strange air surrounding you and Wanderer must have been that, she speculated, as she watched Wanderer hand you a box of your favorite foods with the flimsy excuse of having made too much. For your part, you seemed genuinely touched by the gesture despite Wandererâs grumbling, much to Nahidaâs delight. Wandererâs prickly personality pushed some people away, but not you. You stayed by his side and gave him the companionship he needed, helping Wanderer open up and heal from his trauma.
It was clear you deeply cared for the young man, and a little peek into your mind confirmed to Nahida that yes, you did love him romantically. She couldnât read Wandererâs mind since he blocked all her attempts to do so, but she didnât need mindreading to conclude that he loved you too.
When she next spoke with Wanderer, she carefully asked if he loved you. Wandererâs response was a gruff âNoâ and âStop askingâ, however Nahida could tell he wasnât being honest with his feelings. If he didnât love you, then why did he treat you differently compared to everyone else? His manner of speech is gentler when with you, and despite all his grumbling he still complies with all your requests no matter how irritating he may find them. Not to mention, he spends most of his free time in your company, goes out of his way to make you little gifts and cook your favorite dishes. Surely all these behaviours were proof that you were someone special to him?
Being effectively cornered, the puppet had no choice except to come clean about his hidden feelings. With scowl and a blush on his cheeks, Wanderer reluctantly admitted that yes, he likes you, but it was none of Nahidaâs business and sheâd better stay out of it.
Despite Wandererâs warning, the Dendro Archon wanted to help get you together. She felt confident that if both of you put in a little effort, a beautiful romance could blossom between you. Still, she didnât want to outright reveal your feelings for each other. She believed that each of you should relay these intimate feelings yourselves. All Nahida would do is give you a gentle nudge in the right direction.
To help her with this task, Nahida sought help from a few Aranara and asked them to keep an eye on you and Wanderer and report any meaningful details that could help her bring you together. Through her little helpers, Nahida learned the full extent of Wandererâs affections for you, and she couldnât help but smile at how sweet he was, especially when it came to you.
Using this acquired knowledge, the Dendro Archon frequently brought up Wanderer in your conversations with her to explain the thoughtfulness behind some of his gifts and words. For as frank as he usually was with people, Wanderer was more close-lipped about the true extent of his feelings, so Nahida had some work cut out for her in making you realize how much he truly cared about you.
For example, the next time Wanderer gave you your favorite food with the excuse that heâd made too much, Nahida revealed to you that he actually spent several days perfecting the recipe before finally giving the dish to you.
That hand-made bracelet he gifted you, saying he got it for free during an arts and crafts event he visited? Wanderer actually made it himself during that event and used beads of your favorite colors. The Aranara watched him spend a lot of time crafting that bracelet with the greatest care, but Nahida left that part out.
In addition, she would subtly drop hints for you to invite Wanderer to hang out more often. For example, the Zubayr Theater was hosting a play and Nahida heard there was a discount if you bought two tickets. Why donât you go and invite Wanderer to come with you?
As for Wanderer, she discreetly told him that you once mentioned wanting to try out a new drink at Puspa Cafe but had nobody to go with, so why not be a good friend and take you there himself? Wanderer initially objected, but ultimately caved in and invited you to the Café while commenting that a certain annoying sprout said you wanted to try a new drink there, though deep down he glad for the opportunity to spend more time with you. Nahida could tell by the way Wanderer went out of his way to spoil you that day, buying you anything you wanted and keeping you company until the sun set.
Little by little, Nahida softened Wanderer towards the possibility of being in a romantic relationship with you, and helped you gather the courage to confess. Wanderer was unlikely to ever confess first, so the responsibility rested on your shoulders. She could tell you were nervous about laying bare your feelings, but she reassured you that things would go well. You only needed to take that leap of faith.
When you finally confessed, Nahida and the Aranara secretly observed the scene from behind a nearby corner, curious to see how things would go while also quietly cheering you on (not that you knew). When a flustered Wanderer accepted your confession, Nahida was overjoyed. She had fun guiding both of you towards this moment, but the satisfaction of knowing you could finally be together the way you always wished was rewarding in its own way. Even when Wanderer later confronted her about spying on you during your confession and scolded her for it, the little Archonâs happiness didnât wane. She looked forward to seeing what your newfound relationship would blossom into, and had no doubt it would be something beautiful and pure, just like your love for each other.
đïžâđšïž Cyno
It was no secret to Tighnari that you and Cyno liked each other. He had known about your mutual crushes as far back as your student days at the Akademiya where you first met. You became fast friends with him and Cyno, but Tighnari couldnât help but think Cyno was a bit more special to you than you let on. After all, you were one of the few who wasnât intimidated by Cynoâs perpetual stern facial expressions and actively sought him out, and who actually laughed at his lame jokes.
Tighnari also knew about Cynoâs crush on you since his friend confided about it to him. Not that Cyno needed to say anything because Tighnari could see his attraction to you clear as day. Cynoâs eyes lit up whenever he saw you in the distance, he tried to act âcoolerâ in your presence in an attempt to impress you, and Tighnari swore that if Cyno had a tail, it would have wagged like a dogâs every time you laughed at his jokes.
Though he knew about your mutual romantic attraction to each other, Tighnari didnât want to stick his nose into your love lives. He figured you guys would resolve everything yourselves in due time.
However, nothing changed even after you guys graduated. Your group remained close friends and saw each other regularly, but Tighnari was starting to lose his patience with how you and Cyno hopelessly pined for each other. He had already lost count of the number of times each of you came to him for advice on how to win the other over.
Cyno asked Tighnariâs opinion on a lot of things: Would you like his newest joke? Would you be okay with Cyno volunteering to be your bodyguard for your upcoming desert excursion? Which of his limited edition TCG cards best represented you? Cyno wanted to express how much you meant to him by giving you a card that reminded him of you.
You were no better. Tighnari had lost count of the number of times you approached him with questions about Cynoâs work schedule. Your excuse was that you wanted to plan hangouts with him, Collei, and Cyno during their days off, but Tighnari knew there was another reason why you asked about Cynoâs schedule in particular. He had half a mind to tell you to ask Cyno yourself because it was obvious that you just wanted to spend more time with the General Mahamatra. You also pestered Tighnari with questions about Cynoâs TCG deck. Much like his friend, you wanted to express your appreciation for Cyno by giving him cards he didnât have yet.
Seriously, you two were a match made in heavenâŠ
Tighnari would have found your mutual crushes on each other endearing, if only he wasnât stuck being the middleman. As it stood, Tighnari wanted nothing more than to throttle both of you for pussyfooting around your feelings and getting him caught up in being your messenger. He was on the brink of snapping and sitting you both down to explain that your feelings were mutual, so just hurry up and get together already.
Thatâs why the next time Cyno approached him with another question about you, Tighnari took the opportunity to convince his friend to confess. He and Collei assured Cyno that you liked him a lot, and urged him to tell you his feelings. Cyno was hesitant but did seem to want some closure about whether you liked him back or not, so Tighnari gave him an incentive. How about the next time he played TCG with you, you guys set some stakes? Why not have a rule that the loser must tell the winner a secret? If Cyno lost, he would have to confess.
Cyno wasnât fond of the idea initially, but agreed after some contemplation, acknowledging that this method would be effective in giving him that necessary push. Still, Tighnari could tell Cyno was nervous about confessing, so he volunteered to come along as moral support, much to Cynoâs gratitude.
That was how Tighnari and Collei found themselves at Puspa Cafe, sitting a few tables away from you and Cyno, hidden from your line of sight. Tighnari tutored Collei while Cyno played that fateful round of TCG against you, but the Forest Ranger kept a close eye on his friend. Though he didnât want to get too invested in Cynoâs love life, even he couldnât help but grow anxious as he watched the TCG match end with Cynoâs loss.
Although Tighnari was too far away to hear what Cyno was saying, he could tell the moment of confession had come. Now, the ball was in your court.
You looked stunned by whatever Cyno said, but soon smiled and said something that made Cyno mirror the happy expression on your face and reach out to hold your hand. Though he couldnât hear, Tighnari knew you had reciprocated his feelings. Even Collei quietly fawned over how cute you both looked. It had been a long journey, but he was truly happy for his friend. Out of everyone, Cyno was happiest with you, and Tighnari hoped you would continue to make him happy for many years to come.
With everything ending well, Tighnari beckoned Collei and discreetly left the cafe before you or Cyno noticed. As happy as he was for you guys, he dreaded the possibility of Cyno coercing them into a TCG match. With how elated his friend must be right now, it was only a matter of time until Cyno called him and Collei over for a new game to celebrate you accepting his feelings. In Tighnariâs opinion, you guys deserved to have some proper time to yourselves to explore your feelings and new relationship without him and Collei serving as thirdwheels. That, and he just really didnât want to sit through another hour of watching Cyno show off for you.

Corinne Busche, John Epler, Matt Rhodes and Community Manager Katey were the devs that were there.
----
Katey: Hello!
John: Hello.
Katey: Beautiful, your mic sounds beautiful. How's everybody doing?
John: Excellent. I, just as a headsup, I have some folks doing some service, in the next room so, if I, if you hear background noise, that's what that is.
Katey: No worries at all. Well I hope that everybody who's been waiting in here is really excited, because I'm super excited. I'm Katey. I'm the Community Manager. If you don't already know, you can usually see my name at the top of this Discord server. But I'm joined here with some awesome guests that I'll let introduce themselves. Let's start with Corinne.
Corinne: Can you hear me okay?
John: Yep.
Katey: Yep, we can hear you beautifully.
Corinne: Great, perfect. I'm Corinne Busche, Game Director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
John: Awesome. I'm John Epler, Creative Director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
Corinne: John!
John: Hello.
Katey: And then we've also got Matt Rhodes, who may be struggling to find the unmute button which is at the bottom left.
Corinne: Our, our resident artist-poet, Matt Rhodes.
Katey: I could unmute him, actually, I don't know if I can unmute him, but if he needs help, he can message me on the side.
John: The joys of being a giant nerd is I spend a lot of time on Discord anyway, so.
Corinne: Well there you go, right?
Katey: Fair enough. Alright, well, we have a ton of questions to answer. We probably won't be able to get to all of them today. You all have sent in so many really really great answers, sorry, questions for us to answer. And if we don't get to them today, we're hoping to be able to do things like this in the future. So without further ado, I'll get started. First question's a bit of a soft ball, I feel. If you could belong to any of the main factions shown in the game, which would you choose?
Corinne: I mean, listen Katey, you say softball, but like, this is hard! Iâm gonna cheat, and Iâm gonna give you two. So for fashion, the Antivan Crows, all day long. Their threads, youâre gonna love it. For vibes, though, like the ones that capture my vibe, Mourn Watch. Gimme those necromancers.
John: Those are good answers. I have, I have one for fashion, and also for, just general faction Iâd like to be a part of. Veil Jumpers. Who doesnât like a nice walk in the forest, yâknow? Even if that forest is filled with horrifying monsters and terrifying anomalies, but yeah.
Katey: I love that. I know that Matt has a few technical issues â oh, heâs unmuted. There we go. Or maybe not. Thatâs okay, I think we can move on.
John: The Fade has taken Matt.
Corinne: Thatâs right, thatâs right.
Katey: Yes. One quick thing, if you check your settings, the cog-wheel in the bottom left, make sure that your voice, like, your audio is all good. If youâre still hearing the music, feel free to maybe, force-quit Discord and rejoin by just joining the stage directly. And mute the music before you come in. Okay. I can move on to the next question for now. Iâve seen, so this question was from Acra. Iâve seen a lot of talk about only having two companions in your party instead of three for this game. What is the reasoning behind this and will we still get the same companion conversations and banter as seen in the previous Dragon Age games?
Corinne: Ooh, this is such a good question. Thankyou, whoever submitted this one. Yeah, Iâll guess Iâll start and then Iâll turn it over to John Epler. So, first of all, as you saw in the gameplay reveal, this is a much more intimate experience. Weâve pulled the camera in. For those that arenât aware, the reason why is we want you to feel like you actually are in this world, right? Like, youâre walking these city streets of Minrathous, youâre looking up, seeing the buildings all around you, youâre a part of this place. So itâs much more intimate, and we believe as the narrative unfolds this creates a lot more immersion. Now, how that relates to companions is in doing this, we went back and forth on it a lot, but we actually found, with this perspective, having two companions, really allows them more visibility and presence. Weâve talked about the incredible depth and focus weâve put on fleshing out these companions, theyâre very fully-realized. So here, you really get to see them more clearly, you get to see them shine. When you see Lace Harding jump into the air and unleash a volley of arrows, you can only really get that because of that more intimate view. So I love the spotlight thatâs been put on them. But, I think, in addition to the banter, one of the things that people are wondering about is, okay, but what about gameplay? So again, this has come about from our testing, working with the internal team, also our lovely Council of players. We just found that when youâre playing in the combat system, when youâre planning your strategies, two really felt like the right number to manage. So keep in mind, Rook has a lot of different types of actions, Abilities, individual attacks that are more fully fleshed-out than ever before. Timing and positioning matter a lot. So this really felt like the right balance to have. The number of inputs and actions weâre asking you as a player to take, including directing your companions, is higher than ever before. And I will also say, I engage with the companions, like I actively control what theyâre doing more than I ever have before in any of the other three games. But John, Iâll toss it over to you for the banter. Thatâs kind of like the, we got a two-for-one there.
John: Yeah, yeah.
Corinne: I think thatâs a, a great question.
John: So - itâs a great question, yeah. I mean honestly, I donât think you could actually stop the writers from writing banter. I will say for myself, itâs, itâs one of the more light but fun things to do. You get to write little stories, little arcs between different characters. And I mean, The Veilguard is no different. Banter is still absolutely core part of it. You know, weâve got global banter, you know, the general stuff that you get in all spaces, as well as mission-specific stuff. But, yeah, itâs definitely still a big thing. I think itâs, if anything itâs the most weâve, weâve ever done for pairings of companions. Beyond that weâve also made sure, and I mean Iâve been on Dragon Age for a while, and I know thereâs been issues, you know, things like, okay, well I donât wanna miss this banter. So weâve even added stuff like some interruptible and resumable banter as well, just to make sure that, because again, itâs a core part of the experience. Everyone loves hearing these companions talk to each other, everyone loves hearing these little stories and relationships develop over the course of the game and, as mentioned before, companions are the heart of this experience and banter is a big part of that, so, you still have it, itâs, if anything, like I said, you could not stop the writers from doing it even if we tried, so.
Corinne: Thatâs right, thatâs right. Well, John, you know, listening to you speak, one thing that comes to mind, maybe people are wondering, with two companions in the field do I get less interaction between, that, like do I get to see my companions interacting in a broader group more often.
John: Oh -
Corinne: And, the way youâll gather them around the kitchen table, thereâs just so many of those moments where theyâre all interacting with each other.
John: Well, I think â
Corinne: Those are some of my favorite parts.
John: Yeah, and I think, yeah, and actually thatâs a, a good call, because I think the other side of it is, weâre not talking too much about your home or anything, but, we also want to make sure that they feel like they have a relationships and a life outside of just, the times you take a certain pair of companions out on the field. So we made sure that, they have those interactions there as well.
Katey: Love that. Letâs see. Um, Matt, are we, are we all set, are we good? Yes? No? Okay. I can continue and we can come back to some of your questions. Alright. So that, I loved the answers to those. How customizable is the backstory of Rook? Will we get to determine their past in the Character Creator? And that was asked by Briar.
John: Yeah, so. Absolutely. So, one of, each, Rook has six different backgrounds that you can choose from. Each of them is tied to one of the major factions in The Veilguard and each one sets out who Rook was before they recruited, were recruited by Varric, and. Well that sets out the broad events. As you go through the game, as youâre gonna have conversations, either with members of your faction, other characters, you can define, not just what those events were, but what they meant to you, what was your motivation, what was the kind of person you are as you build up Rook, because again, we wanna make sure that roleplaying is at the heart of this experience. And taking Rook, giving them, again, giving them background to ground them in the world but then letting you decide what that means and what that says about you is also a big part of it, so. And again, there are six different factions in this game, two which, anyone whoâs played Dragon Age for a while will remember. Youâve got the Grey Wardens. Youâve got the Antivan Crows. We also have, in addition to that, we have four new ones, because weâre in northern Thedas. We have the Veil Jumpers. We have the Mourn Watch. We have the Shadow Dragons, and we have the Lords of Fortune, so. Again, a lot of different options, a lot of different background, and a lot of opportunities to really define what your, who your Rook was, and who they are now, so.
Katey: Amazing. Will crafting return? If yes, has it been improved over the system in Inquisition? Asked by Some Dude.
Matt: Testing.
Katey: Oh hey Matt!
Corinne: âSome Dudeâ, is that, Iâm gonna assume âSome Dudeâ is a username. Great question.
Katey: Yes.
Corinne: Welcome Matt, the lovely Matt Rhodes.
Matt: Testing, testing.
Corinne: Welcome, welcome, hello. Alright, so, will crafting return? You can absolutely improve and customize your gear, yes, that is a big part of RPG progression, so yes you can improve and customize it. I will say, though, itâs different this time around, and it does get into spoiler territory, so I, Iâm gonna be a little bit cagey about it, but there might be a mysterious entity that assists you with that thatâll be an important part of the narrative.
Katey: So mysterious.
Corinne: Oooh!
Katey: Matt, Iâm gonna actually go back to our first question so that you can answer, so everyone knows.
Matt: Thank you.
Katey: What faction, what faction you would choose if you could choose one for yourself?
Matt: Absolutely, oh, for me itâs definitely the Lords of Fortune. Iâve had a chance to try out a bunch of them, but I think Iâve finally settled on them. And itâs largely just because pirate-barbarian is just such a great combination of elements, so. Treasure-hunting plus beaches and palm trees and all that stuff, itâs a, itâs a really good mix, so thatâs kinda my default.
Katey: I think Iâm with you there, for sure. How about this one - this one was definitely asked probably amongst the most in Discord. Axolotl asks, can we kiss or romance Manfred the skeleton?
Matt: Uh, I, I would say, not that skeleton, but weâre not saying no skeletons.
Katey: I love that answer.
Corinne: This is my favorite answer so far.
Katey: Alright, so Iâm gonna get back on track here. Alright. What, what were some of the development considerations that you had to take into account to ensure that this new game flows and functions with prior games, and Dragon Age Keep, if Keep is being utilized?
Corinne: Ooh, thatâs a good one too. So, first of all, I would, I would point everyone to, we did an interview with IGN that goes into some of the details there, so, like, if you want a deeper dive on it, check out that article. But just to summarize, we have taken a different approach on how you import your decisions this time around. Itâs now actually been fully-integrated into the Character Creator, and kinda serves a dual purpose, to be honest. I, I playfully, itâs not called this in-game, but I playfully think of it as âLast Time On Dragon Ageâ.
Katey: I love that.
Corinne: Right? Now, when I talk about its dual purpose, itâs been ten years since the last Dragon Age game released, so it serves as a refresher on critical events as well as allowing you to re-make those decisions that are critical to you. The thing I love about it is, itâs very highly visual, it uses the familiar tarot card aesthetic, so itâs actually really visual and playful experience as you go through it. It is very much important to us that itâs built into the client, though. You can play this game entirely offline. No connection. You donât have to link to your EA accounts, like thatâs been a really big request. So, the refresher plus make those decisions in-client, I think weâre all pretty happy about that. I donât wanna spoil anything by revealing what decisions you can import, like, look, yâall donât want the spoilers, but I will say, itâs been a really interesting creative intersection for us, because on the one hand, this is a whole new adventure. Youâre in northern Thedas, these locations that youâve literally never been to before. So that affects some of what will matter and what weâre not using this time around, as far as decisions. But obviously thereâs some very, very clear connections to existing characters. Itâs no secret that the Inquisitor, our dear Inky, is gonna show up, so, thatâs, thatâs a factor.
Katey: Peachy asks, will this next game be an open-world game, or is it just contained to Tevinter?
John: Yeah, thatâs a great question. So, you are in northern Thedas, but the game only begins in Minrathous, it doesnât stay there. Iâm, I think one of the most exciting things for me, honestly, and again, to Corinneâs earlier point about spoilers, I donât wanna get into too much spoiler detail, but getting to go to, and work with the art team, work with the narrative, work with the design team to build out these locations that weâve talked about. Places that characters have referred to as where theyâve come from, places that characters, obviously, in previous games, have hailed from, has been absolutely exciting. So, itâs, you do start in Tevinter, you do start in Minrathous, but again, thatâs not the entire game by any stretch. So yeah.
Corinne: Yeah, and the first half of it is, is it an open-world game? Weâve gone back to what we believe delivers the best, most curated â
John: Mhm.
Corinne: - intense narratives. So, this is a hand-crafted experience, itâs mission-based. Now, these locations can open up. You can go back, solve mysteries, do some really great side-content. Not fetch-quests, not grind-quests, some really great side content.
John: Mhm.
Corinne: But, I wanna be clear. Itâs, itâs a really curated, hand-crafted experience.
John: And just to, just to bounce off of that very quickly. The most important thing for us, to what Corinne was saying about hand-crafted, obviously weâve talked about how, you know, narrative, story, characters, are the most, are critical to us, and this has allowed us to build these experiences in a way that emphasize that, extremely long, while still, again, tying into the story threads and the story beats, so.
Katey: Awesome. TastefulToxel wants to know - will the companions have unique specializations like Dragon Age II, or will it be the same ones we will have access to as the player in like DA: Origins, or Inquisition?
Corinne: Oh, cool. Hey TastefulToxel. Yeah, so, cool question. I think the best way for me to describe this is that, yes, our companions will have Abilities that are truly unique to them. But also, the companions do fall into the archetypes of mage, rogue, and warrior. Like, for instance, you might be surprised to hear, because she has a bow, but Bellara is, in fact, a mage, and I, I love that. So, some of the Abilities, the bulk of the Abilities of the companions are based on their own unique personality. Like, Neve is the only mage that is an Ice Mage, so you get distinct Abilities for her. But, because sheâs a mage, she does have access to Abilities that all the mages share, like Time Slow. So we really like the balance there. Itâs like a good mix of representing their archetype, their class, and also their distinct specialization or personality, whatever you wanna call it.
John: Yeah, actually, I would actually say the word âpersonalityâ is a really great one because thatâs, again, each of these characters exists, each of these characters have a history, have a story of how they became who they were, and part of that was finding that intersection between narrative and gameplay, and making sure that, again, we, we serve the needs of gameplay but also allow these characters to breathe and exist as their own people, not just in conversation, but out of conversations, as well.
Corinne: I would also say as part of that core mage kit, healing spells are there, so any of your mages, you wanna make âem a healer, do that.
Katey: Lunasoul Darkmoon asks, will The Veilguard have tactical combat still?
Corinne: Ooh, such a good one, such a good one. Okay. Yes! Combat gets quite tactical, like, obviously this is an evolution of the combat system, and I talked about immersion, wanting you, to put you in the world, like youâre actually living and existing in it, but it is very tactical. And, I will say, we have a robust difficulty system. The tactics are increasingly important the higher difficulty level you go. So like, look, if youâre showing up for a highly tactical experience, I would crank that difficulty level in particular. But I wanna make clear, Iâm, super, I wanna make sure Iâm super clear in my answer. You saw the gameplay reveal. Our pause-time tactical mode is not overhead. It stays close to Rook. It does allow you to cycle between targets, both in and out of combat, thereâs a reason for that. As the game progresses, and you didnât see this in that opening hour of the game, but itâll display strategic information on the enemies, so like, what are their vulnerabilities, what are their elemental weaknesses, their enhancements, what are they resistant to? So your type of Abilities, learning into elemental gameplay, matters a lot. Iâd also say, this is a long answer, itâs such a good question â tactical decision-making also takes the form, I would say this is front and center, of coordinating your Ability usage between Rook and your companions to create synergies, or really devastating â we call them â detonation combos. So, let me give you a couple of examples, because it can be a little hard to visualize, so hopefully this helps. So one of the tactics that I personally enjoy in my own builds, I just recently played as a Veil Ranger, I love it, itâs one of my favorites. If Iâm fighting Fade-touched enemies in Arlathan, I like to use Bellaraâs Galvanized Tear to pull enemies together, itâs like a gravity well. You then Slow Time with Neve and, Slow Time affects the world around you, but it does not affect you, so you clump them up, you Slow Time, and then with Rook, I come in and do, like a devastating AOE or damage over time spell or Ability, and itâs even better if itâs a lightning-based Ability, because the Fade-touched in Arlathan are vulnerable to that. So thereâs so many layers of coordination and strategy and tactics. Now we did talk about the devastating, like, detonation combos, honestly, thatâs probably one of my favorite features, because thatâs when youâre really leaning into explicit teamwork between your companions and Rook, or, the companions together. So when I, when I build out my team and Iâm going into a mission, I try to ensure that I have at least a couple of possible synergies, detonation combo synergies within my team. Might be between Harding and Neve, or it might be between Neve and me, or it might be both. So here, I would go into battle, Iâd pause time, open the Ability Wheel, get information on the enemy, and the Wheel will actually tell me that there is a synergy combo, you might have seen a screenshot that says âcombo availableâ. It will remind you of those synergies between companions. You can queue both of those Abilities up at the same time, go, close out of the pause-time menu, theyâll both execute, both Abilities will happen, then the detonation AOE happens, applies debuffs to all the enemies in a radius of it, itâs so satisfying, itâs so satisfying, I canât wait for yâall to see it. But the interesting thing is that too is a tactical choice. Iâm choosing to use my companions to do that, and that means, in that moment, Iâm not using them to heal me, or to give me that defense bonus, or to knock an enemy off a ledge, so itâs about the opportunity cost. I, I could spend the rest of the session talking about this, I, apologies for being long-winded, but this is just one of my favorite parts of, of the game.
Katey: That was a great answer. Can you choose Rookâs pronouns? If yes, being, is being non-binary an option? And also, how detailed is Character Creation?
Corinne: Hell yeah you can select your pronouns! Absolutely. You can actually select both your pronouns and your gender, because those are related concepts, but theyâre not actually the exact same thing, so. Itâs really cool. Yeah, you can be non-binary. We have they/them, she/her, he/him. Yes, emphatic yes. How detailed is the Character Creator? Oh my goodness, yâall. Like. Very! I donât wanna give away too much just yet, but itâs very, very deep. It has been revealed, itâs out there in a couple of articles, about the focus on hair, the focus on skin-tones that are done respectfully, full-body customization, hell yeah, we love to see it. But weâre, weâre gonna, weâre gonna come back, weâre gonna show you a lot more on Character Creator, but we wanna make sure we have the time and space to, to do that.
Katey: Will there be a Photo Mode in-game?
Corinne: So that is something weâre actively looking into. We know thereâs a tonne of interest, so stay tuned on that one. But we are very much looking into it.
Matt: I can add to that, is a feature that is, that, we like, we like the idea of, and, and, itâs not just player-facing but internally, itâs a really helpful thing for us as weâre, as weâre building things out to have that so itâs, itâs, weâll let ya know.
Corinne: Yes, yeah, absolutely. We, we are as geeked on that possibility as you all are.
Katey: A lot of people were asking about Abilities. This one is from Clemmy. Abilities, I donât think I saw this answered yet, but are we going to be limited in how many Abilities we can pick from the Wheel?
Corinne: Ah! Yes, yes, yes. So, Ability Wheel does have a capacity. You have to choose which three Abilities you wanna bring for Rook, which three for one of your companions, and which three for another companion. And what I, what I like about this is there is, kind of, an emergent gameplay depending on who you and your companions are coming into the mission with. Now the reason for that is, it actually creates really interesting balance of strategizing, having to do that strategy about your kit, your combat kit, before the mission. And then the tactical decisions once youâre in the field in combat, deciding what to do. But, I do wanna clear one thing up, because, while there are three Ability slots for Rook, thereâs so much more than that. Other actions that you can perform directly from the Wheel include, youâll have an Ultimate Ability, associated with your class or your specialization, so thereâs variance there. Thereâs a type of items that youâll get that function like Abilities, theyâre typically like buffs and enhancements in form of Runes. So youâll control that for Rook and/or the team from the Wheel. You may have also seen that you can direct which targets your companions will focus on, but what you might not know is that a lot of the companion gear really synergizes with that directing your companions. When you issue those commands, that too will proc based on the gear they have equipped. Really interesting and strategic effects. They can be more Ability-like, more, like, procced effects, thereâs just so much from the Wheel, that once you get in and see everything working together, becomes more and more apparent.
Katey: We have another question from TastefulToxel which is, will Fireball and Cone of Cold be back as skills, or as spells in Dragon Age: The Veilguard?
Corinne: Ohh, I love, all these combat questions, really good. So Fireball and Cone of Cold arenât specifically back, however, their successors are. Frost Nova and Meteor. So these serve the exact same combat role and function as those other Abilities. I would also say, it gives âem quite the glow-up, so. Meteor in particular, like, so satisfying nuking a group of darkspawn with a well-placed Meteor, itâs really wonderful.
Katey: What accessibility features are available? I would love to know if thereâs an arachnophobia mode. Will there be mod support?
Corinne: Oh my goodness, arachnophobia. I am wicked afraid of spiders too, my partner always laughs at me. Iâm just terrified of them. That said, thatâs one weâre going to save for a little bit closer to launch before weâll go into full details about accessibility features. But I do wanna assure you, weâve spent a lot of time thinking about this topic so you can play the game in a way that really works for you. Iâm, Iâm excited to share that with you when the time is right.
Katey: So this one is from a username named Cookie. How long is the time-skip from Inquisition to The Veilguard? I know weâll probably get more info on this, but Iâm so curious.
John: Yeah, so, anyone whoâs paid attention to Dragon Age, and I can say as somebody whoâs been on Dragon Age since Origins, timelines are always a little iffy. They change, and they morph over development as we see how long events taking. But, for The Veilguard, we were actually pretty consistent from the start. Itâs been about ten years since the events of Trespasser. As you may or may not have noticed, Varricâs become a little bit of a silver fox. I know, Iâve heard, seen, Iâve seen a lot of comments on that on social media, but, yeah, ten years. Solasâ ritual is taken time to set up and youâre kinda coming in at the end of that hunt, so.
Katey: Siddy is asking the hardest-hitting question which is, is Solas still bald?
Matt: Yeah. I mean, if youâve watched the gameplay thing, we can all confirm, yes, Solas is still bald, Solas is still Solas. Weâve, weâve, I really, I really like how Solas has turned out this time around. I will say, hereâs a comment on this specific question thatâs gonna sound like a non-sequitur, but, once you get a chance to play it a little bit more, maybe youâll see it. In Thedas, ancient elves, they go bald when theyâre like millennia old, so. Solas wasnât always bald. So if you were to end up, end up seeing what Solas looked like in the past, things might be a little different. Youâll have â
John: - Now, now that said, Iâm sure some of you are wondering what happened to Solasâ wig from Tevinter Nights. Iâm sure he still has it somewhere, so.
Katey: Heâs just taking care of it elsewhere.
John: Heâs just taking care, itâs, itâs his most important possession.
Corinne: The Pride there, huh?
Katey: I have another one for Matt. This is, will we be able to, will we be able to change companionsâ appearances and outfits, or are they fixed, similar to Dragon Age II?
Matt: Yeah we, Dragon Age II was, we loved how the followers turned out in that but it was, it was sad given, given our constraints that we had to keep them with just one, one basic outfit. So we really tried to make some space for them this time around. So theyâre, they still have, kindâve iconic color palettes and things like that, but they do have a wider range of appearances that you can, that you can find for them. Some, some are just cool, but then there are some that are tied directly to their, to their narrative and just kinda whatâs happening in their life.
Katey: Another one for ya, which is, will we be seeing or visiting Kal-Sharok? Itâs, and, Tyrant says that theyâve been obsessed with it forever.
Matt: Yeah, me too. I, I will say, whatâs, whatâs been really cool, so in previous games, weâve kindâve alluded to this before. It was a lot of fun to hint at the locations that were off the map, the mysterious places that you werenât gonna go, you werenât going. And so you could just bring in some props or some characters, a piece of art, things like that, and you know, even Tevinter was only vaguely hinted at and then we would just add drips and bits and pieces, so that stuff was really fun. In The Veilguard, weâre actually getting to visit, most, like a whole lot of those locations that had only been hinted at for real, so you actually do run around Tevinter and a bunch of the other locations that weâve revealed. But this also means, like, weâre not completely filling out the map, and so that there are actually new things that we can start hinting at, that we can start drip-feeding, and so, itâs, itâs kindâve fun. Iâd say, yeah, for what we can show of Kal-Sharok, and, and other locations, itâs just, thereâs, thereâs more to do.
Katey: Awesome. MrFightmonster118 asks, will the dialogue wheel slash options be similar to Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda in the sense that itâs more tone-based?
John: Yeah, so, we have a number of different types of wheels in our game. All the dialogue wheels are based off the same principle. Anyone whoâs played a Dragon Age game remembers what they look like. In Dragon Age: The Veilguard we have tone wheels which are, you know, again, roleplaying your character, picking consistent tone. We also have emotion wheels where you can pick specific emotional reactions. And choice wheels which are, I donât have a strong emotional or tone tie here but I do want to make a choice based on what I do. Investigates obviously return as well, but. We do want players to understand as much as possible what it is theyâre going to be picking, and understand, and again, choice and consequence is fun, we wanna make sure the choice is clear, even if, again, one of the best parts about consequence is making sure thatâs not entirely clear, so.
Katey: How extensive are Rookâs decision trees for dialogue going to be with the companions and also with NPCs throughout the game?
John: Huge. I mean, again, itâs a Dragon Age game, we wanna make sure you have choices, we wanna make sure you can choose both your roleplaying but also choose outcomes of conversations, choose how events unfold, so, I mean, again, itâs a Dragon Age game, we wanna make sure that we also react to decisions youâve made, so. For example, you may be talking to a follower who is an elf, and if you yourself are an elf, obviously youâre gonna have a different perspective on events than someone whoâs not an elf. Sometimes that means different conversation options, sometimes thatâs going to mean entirely deep dialogue trees, as well as based off decisions youâve made throughout the game so, again, making sure that the game feels like itâs noticing what youâre doing is a huge part of how weâve written out the dialogue wheel, or dialogue trees, in this game.
Corinne: Blueberry has a question for Corinne. It was mentioned that there will be, that we will be able to romance who we like. Does that mean that all companions are romanceable by all player characters regardless of race or gender, as it has been in the past?
Corinne: Yeah, yeah. So, we have talked about this in some of the interviews, Iâve seen a few articles about it, so Iâd recommend everyone check out those articles. But let me just give you a quick overview. Each of the seven companions have full romance arcs and they are romanceable by all genders, absolutely. But something thatâs really important to, to us on the team, so I wanna make sure that we clarify and just double-down on, that doesnât mean playersexual. And if anyoneâs unaware of what we mean by that, it doesnât mean that they can form or twist their identities to who you the player are, like they, they wonât suddenly have a preference for men or women based on what youâre playing, right? Instead, they have their own fully fleshed-out identities, they are true and authentic to that. So in this game, they are all pansexual, with their own histories of romance. Sometimes youâll hear about preferences, or things of that nature. And what I really love is, if you donât pursue a romance with them, theyâll actually build their own romances with each other. So, in one of the interviews I talked about Lace Harding and Taash getting together. I give that example because honestly, itâs one of my favorites. Iâm gonna put a question back to the community, though. Iâve heard weâre going with âLaashâ for that ship-name? You tell me, like, what is that ship-name?
Katey: That one just rolls off the tongue, I feel like that works. This next question is from FallenArtesia. What are the markings on the faces of the elven Warden and Veil hopper?
Matt: So thereâs a, quite a few, probably, I think, easily more than weâve done before, tattoos from various, various cultures. Weâre bringing the vallaslin back, of course. But thereâs, yeah, ton of different options, especially when weâre, again, going into all these new regions. Each, each area has its own kindâve visual language for that. But yeah, we are bringing the vallaslin back and then a couple of the characters have them, but weâve kindâve customized them a little bit, theyâre a bit more specific to their personality.
Katey: And this is a question for all of you. What are you, what are you as a developer most proud of about the game, and what are you most excited for players to experience when itâs out?
John: Ooh, thatâs a good question.
Corinne: Isnât it?
John: Corinne, you wanna go first?
Corinne: Yeah, sure. Gosh. So I suspect for most of us, myself included, it is really gonna be the depth and authenticity of the companions, journeying along with them on their arcs, learning about their hardships, what they care about, being by their side, that, that authenticity is just so good. They all feel like my dear friends. But, I have to say, the closest runner-up for me, has to be the Character Creator, has to be. That Character Creator, the makeup options, the range of sliders. Iâm a qunari fan, so even just the, the way you customize the horns and combine that with the really great-looking hair. Character Creator has to be my, my, like very close runner up.
Matt: Oh yeah. For me, I would say, as far as, what, what I can say Iâm most proud of on this one, the, I can speak for the art team. We worked incredibly hard to make the story more visible than ever. Games are a visual medium, but, you know, itâs, sometimes itâs easier to do things in text format or written in a Codex somewhere or alluded to off-screen. But we really leaned in to trying to make sure that every design, prop, character, environment, the VFX weâre choosing, everything, all, all these choices, were putting the story on-screen so that you can really see it unfold. And I think, having worked on all of the Dragon Age games, I would say Veilguard represents one of the best attempts at that weâve made yet.
John: Iâm gonna cheat, because Iâm going last and I get to do that when I go last, and kinda combine both Corinneâs and Mattâs answer. Honestly, the companions are, for me, the absolute highlight of, just, being able to work across all the disciplines, building characters who look and sound and behave in very specific and characterful ways. These are the deepest companion arcs weâve ever done. Not just on Dragon Age, but at BioWare in general. Each, each companion has their own story arc, you can go through decisions you can make, they really do take center-stage, and I think, as you play through with them you see the care and love that the team has put into each and every one. I mean thereâs, thereâs moments in each arc that make you cry, make you angry, make you excited and, and the way that they integrate into the story as a whole is just, for me, something thatâs been really fun. Finding ways to bring these characters together, finding ways to make this, this narrative, this story of, you know, you need to put together a team and stop the end of the world, itâs just been absolutely exciting and thrilling. And again, you see the teamâs love in every single piece of it. As for what Iâm most excited? For me, Iâve been, I mean Dragon Age has been part of my career, part of my life for literally the last decade and a half. Iâve worked on it since Origins and thereâs something about The Veilguard that feels like a amazing mix of, novelty but also familiarity. Itâs like coming home in a way that I think is going to be very exciting for people who are existing Dragon Age players, but thereâs also so much here thatâs just new and exciting for people, new players and old players alike. And going to parts of the word, seeing things weâve never seen before, and just getting to take this amazing world, this amazing series and expand on it and build on it in ways that have just been, honestly, an absolute thrill, the best part of my career. And Iâve been in games for seventeen years now, this has been the absolute highlight for me, so. Thatâs what Iâm excited about.
Corinne: John, that was, that was such a good answer, and I just, I just wanna âyes, and -â that. It, I so completely agree with you. Thereâve been times in the companion arcs where even, knowing exactly whatâs going to happen, we work on the game, with some of these decisions, I, Iâve had to set down the controller, let out a heavy sigh and go âoh my god, what am I gonna do here?â Yeah, the depth of them is wonderful. And, I do wanna say, I, Iâd be, I wanna put this out there, when we talked about as a developer, what are we most proud of, can we just give a big shout-out to the dev team? I am so proud of them. This team has poured their heart and soul into this.
John: Absolutely.
Corinne: Anyone from BioWare whoâs listening in, thank you so much, yâall are just the best.
John: Hear, hear.
Katey: I absolutely love that. I knew that question was going to have some of my best, some of my favorite answers, and it delivered, so thank you three. This oneâs a fun one. Why does Varric have dark hair now? I feel like John mentioned this a little bit earlier, but.
John: Just for [inaudible].
Matt: Heâs been, heâs been adventuring for a while now. His hair is, is more gray, but heâs been in very dark scenes so far, so. Weâll see him in some more contexts.
Katey: In this question, we actually took from Tumblr, because there were a few really good ones in our ask box. Will the Inquisitor be appearing in the flesh, or are we just choosing their major Dragon Age: Inquisition decisions?
Corinne: Alright! Yeah, yes! They will. The Inky does appear. We know how attached yâall are to the Inquisitor, Iâve seen the love for your OC. Yes, the Inquisitor shows up. Now, we, weâd already confirmed that in a few places, so, let me just say, you can also customize them, includes some of our new customization options, yeah, theyâre gonna show up and theyâre gonna be your Inquisitor.
John: And I think, I think beyond that, I mean, the story of Solas and the story of the Inquisitor, obviously are tied, theyâre tied together as much as any story, so. It would have been strange for us not to bring them in for this one. They have, theyâre gonna be a part of the story, so.
Katey: Will there be any planned DLC? Just curious, as I always love the DLCs. Oh, and transmog armor. This one came from Lavell.
Corinne: Oh, heck yeah, good question. So, right now, our focus is entirely on the quality of the game. Like, itâs so important at this stage for us to be all-in, all attention on, just, finishing this game and delivering on the quality, the promise of it. So honestly, like, thatâs all I can really say about it. Weâre 100% focused on this being the most complete game we can make it. I will say, kindâve related to that though, and I just wanna underscore this, I wanna emphasize it. Thereâs not gonna be any microtransactions, thereâs not gonna be any battle passes, you donât have to connect online, our focus is making this the most complete singleplayer game we possibly can. Now, this was kindâve a two-for question, I love when we do that. Will there be transmog? Hell yeah. Iâm the kindâve player that, that believes fashion is the real end-game. Yeah, thereâs a transmog system, absolutely, itâs sick.
Katey: And then this next question is from Scott. I was asking if any of the characters will be explicitly asexual, or on the ace spectrum?
Corinne: So good. Such a good question. So, look, Iâm just, Iâm gonna be really forthcoming with yâall and a little bit vulnerable here. Iâm ace, Iâm a gray-ace, I donât mind sharing that, Iâm kindâve public with it. I will say though, that none of our companions this time around are explicitly ace. When we look at the characters, their motivations, who they are, we always assess, like is, is this the right time? This time it wasnât. But what I will say for everyone on the ace spectrum out there, I would love to represent an ace relationship sometime in the future when it feels like the most authentic fit for a companion, when we can do it best. Oh, and I do see some questions, you know, some questions, what do we mean by ace? Asexuality. We often refer to it as the ace spectrum.
Katey: Can mage Rook do blood magic? Will blood magic be a skill tree separate from regular magic?
Corinne: Okay. Um, this gets a little spoilery, so let me just say, Rook has some pretty good reasons to avoid blood magic. Rook is not gonna want to be interested in that. But I will say, the mage skill tree is packed with all kinds of spells, traits and perks to give you a ton of flexibility in your magic. Gonna go off-script just a little bit, because â
John: Oh no.
Corinne: Iâve seen, like, can you tell us about the specializations for mage? Iâm not gonna tell you the deets, but there is a necromancer one, there is an elemental one, and there is one thatâs actually more of like a combat mage, itâs my favorite.
Katey: Can we name the griffon? We also have a griffon emoji now in this Discord server.
John: Excellent. So, someone on your, in your party, again, spoilers, may have already named the griffon, but, donât worry, Assan is a very good boy, so.
Corinne: All these griffon emojis are, yâall are killing me.
Katey: Yeah, I love that, griffons in the chat. Let's see. Will we have a camp/home/headquarters that weâll be able to customize?
Matt: Well this time around, in Inquisition you had Skyhold. In this case you have a headquarters called the Lighthouse. More to be seen on that. But, itâs, it, narratively it, it serves kindâve a different purpose but also the same purpose. As far as customization goes, there are elements of it that change over time, and some things that you can adjust. I, I donât know how much weâre really going into that at the moment.
Katey: This one is â
Matt: But yeah, I would say, itâs like, thereâs some, it, one thing I like about it is it definitely does start to feel very much like a home over time.
Katey: Sorry for almost cutting you off there Matt. We have another very hard-hitting question, if I'm, if I do say so myself.
John: I love this one.
Katey: We need to - Same. We need to know, does pasta and noodles exist in Thedas? Thank you.
Matt: Well, and Iâll take it as a chance just to geek out about worldbuilding, because, again, weâre, The Veilguard for us is a really kinda dream opportunity to go to places that weâve only ever heard reference to, or weâve seen hints at. And so, in going through the worldbuilding process and trying to, trying to build these places out, not just as neat things from the IP but also as, you know, if youâve, if you've read about this stuff, if youâve been following along, youâve got your own version of it in your head. Youâve imagined what it might be like, youâre, and probably hoping for something spectacular. And our brains are always far better at creating this stuff than any game developer, any artist, or anyone can really do justice to, so you really have to swing for the fences to make something very satisfying and exciting. You know, is, that can be everything as big as architecture and landscape and biomes and ecosystems, but it does get into things like art and culture, costume design, and also food, and this time around we did, you know, that was one of the many things that we, that we did, looking to, just to try to catch the character and the feel of a place to make it feel believable and lived in, so. Thatâs my really long answer for, yeah, Iâm sure, I've, at least one place does have pasta.
Katey: I loved that. This next question is from Spectre Karro. Are we getting a mabari?
John: Ooh, thatâs a good question. I will say, youâre spending most of the game in the north of Thedas. Mabari are not nearly as big of a thing up there, so. In this particular instance, no, you will not get a mabari, sadly.
Katey: Honestly, I shouldâve pulled this one up to where we answered the first question about the griffon, but, can we pet the griffon?
Matt: You, Iâm really sorry to have to be the one to tell you â nah, Iâm kidding, yes you can. But itâs not even just petting the griffon. Iâve, this isnât a spoiler, I think you can actually, Iâve actually hugged the griffon, so, that feels like, even there, a step up. Yeah.
John: Thereâs lots of opportunities to interact with the griffon.
Corinne: Can we see, can we see Assan in chat if we wanna see him in the Lighthouse hanging out?
Katey: Assan in chat everybody.
Corinne: Assan in chat, alright!
Katey: I love it.
Corinne: Okay, yâall this was so important to the team too. Like, this is the teamâs like, just such huge support for this feature, so props to them.
Katey: This one is from Coriander. Will we get to see any of the Character Creator before the game releases?
Corinne: Yes, yes you will. Weâve got a, youâve probably seen, weâre laying out a roadmap for, you know, what weâre gonna show and when weâre gonna talk about, so, yes you will see it as we get a little bit closer to launch.
Katey: And then weâve got this question which is, will we be able to play as a qunari, dwarf, elf, or human?
Corinne: Hell yeah, hell yeah you will. All four, and all four have that full-body customization. I already talked a little bit about, I mean listen, Iâve always loved the qunari. I will say in Dragon Age: Inquisition it was hard to get a good-looking qunari hairstyle, so yes you can play as them, you can customize them, the horn options are rad, the hair options are rad. And also, I guess related to this, your lineage gives you a lot of really unique dialogue options, so thatâs a really lovely aspect of choosing your lineage as well.
John: Yeah, I would, so to actually just to bounce off that, to an earlier question about backgrounds, each lineage, there, depending on the lineage you choose and the background you choose there are some specifics call-outs to, for example, if itâs the Mourn Watch, the Mourn Watch being a faction from Nevarra of mages, you play as a dwarf, obviously your experience in that faction is going to be different than, say, a human or an elf, so. There are also specific call-outs tailored to those combinations and, with again, giving, the intention of giving each lineage their own little flavor as to how they're, they fit into that faction as a whole.
Katey: Okay, John, Iâve got a question from someone named Joe for you. Where is Barkspawn and is he okay?
John: Thatâs a Great question. Barkspawn is safely gnawing on a bone next to a fireplace somewhere in Ferelden, donât worry, heâs fine. You may question, ask yourself, but John, itâs been so long, in which I say, mabari live exactly as long as they need to.
Corinne: Getting into the deep-cut questions now.
John: Deep-cut questions, yeah.
Katey: Yeah. We are really speedinâ through these. Letâs see. Will Rook have a set of default name?
John: Yeah so, Rookâs last name is defined based on their faction, again, we wanted to tie that into your backstory, but also, thereâs a, thatâs a name generator that can give you a selection of first names. Obviously if you want to make your own first name, thatâs definitely something we support as well. If youâre somebody who maybe has a little bit more difficulty coming up with a name, so for example you name every single character âBobâ because thatâs the only name you can think of, we also give that opportunity for that generation, so.
Katey: I definitely always have trouble coming up with what I wanna name my characters, so thatâs great. This next question is, when will the voice acting cast be announced?
John: So, we worked with a lot of very talented actors on this one. I am super excited to talk about the voice acting cast. Weâll be talking a bit more over the summer, weâre not quite ready to announce names yet.
Katey: And I think we have a similar answer to this next question, which was, will there be a Collectorâs Edition? When can I pre-order?
John: Yeah, same answer, we have, weâll talk more about the different editions of the game soon.
Katey: Are there any special musical guests writing the sound-track? Will tavern songs return.
Corinne: Oh my goodness, yeah. There are tavern songs. And huge credit to the audio team and performance teams because theyâre pretty great. Thereâs one in a little tavern in Minrathous called The Swan, and the song you hear there might just, it might be, itâs up there, it might just be my favorite of the tavern songs.
Katey: Letâs see, are there any â ope, I have just asked that one. What are the required PC specs?
John: Much like the other two, we will have more information on required PC specs soon.
Katey: Saph from the Discord server noticed that two, Dragon Age IIâs main theme from the soundtrack brought back much of the iconic thematic material of Originsâ main theme, but I heard less of it in Inquisitionâs. Can we expect The Veilguardâs main theme to recall more or less of that original thematic material than Inquisition?
John: So weâre not, weâre not quite ready to talk about music yet in specifics, but in broad strokes I can say the process for us is always the same. Working with the composer, working, figuring out themes, figuring out what kinds of elements we want to keep, tying specific elements to, maybe specific characters. Itâs a really in-depth process and a really collaborative process. We have some fantastic audio people on our team that have done an amazing work, amazing job, working with composers, and, with the team as a whole to make sure that, again, we said earlier about cohesiveness. Making sure that the music feels like a cohesive part of the experience.
Katey: And this one, I see is also for John, but I think anyone can answer this. When writing the overall story of this game, what themes did you want to have as the prominent focus?
John: I mean again, itâs interesting, so itâs interesting, because when we were writing these games, and this has been true on every Dragon Age Iâve been part of, what you start with and where you end up arenât always necessarily the same. Sometimes you start writing out a theme, you realize actually itâs more interesting if we attack from this angle, or maybe if we twist it a little bit. I will say for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, from the beginning one of the biggest themes has been regret. How regretâs shaped peoplesâ lives, how people deal with their regrets, how people maybe move past their regrets and, each of the characters, you know, the stories as a whole, have elements of this tied throughout. We really wanted to have that thematic, that cohesiveness to the gameâs story and the gameâs writing so.
Katey: And I know that, you know, weâve, we've kindâve already answered this a few times, but can we play as dwarves and does the world react to your race and backstory? Probably be good to just directly answer that one.
John: Yes you can play as a dwarf. Yes the world does react to your race and backstory. And, again, youâll have unique dialogues or unique conversation options based on that, on that backstory and as well as that race.
Corinne: Iâll give you a little nugget here, because I saw it scrolling through real quickly. Do you have beards, like. So when I think about can I play as dwarves I think about, do we have glorious fantastic beards? Hell yeah, we do.
John: Yeah, I can say, as somebody who plays a lot of games with character creator, the beards on, I donât know what magic the character art team did for the beards, but they feel like a beard should feel like, itâs great. They look awesome.
Corinne: Just saw somebody say âitâs beard timeâ, I love it. Itâs beard time!
Katey: Will our heroes and companions leave us if we go against their wishes?
Corinne: Oh my good â do yâall just love pain? Do you want us to make you cry? If you go against their wishes, if you make decisions they donât like, I will tell you, you can piss them off, you can, they might not agree with you and they, they will take some time away. That said, this is the biggest threat to Thedas weâve ever seen, so theyâre, they are always gonna be willing to show up to defend Thedas but, yeah, you can piss them off and theyâll leave for a minute. As it relates to them showing up to defend Thedas, well yeah, they will, unlessâŠ
John: No spoilers Corinne!
Corinne: Aughhh, Iâll leave it there, Iâll leave it there.
John: No spoilers.
Corinne: Okay, alright, alright. But they want it!
John: Yep.
Matt: Donât try to stop me, Smee!
Katey: This oneâs a fun one about some inspirations for the game. Dracanmo would like to know if any songs, books, movies or anything have had inspired any of the writing for the characters?
John: I mean, honestly, the thing about art is, art is always a synthesis of your own experiences both in the real world but also the art you consume, the art you pay attention to. I donât think that any characters have what I would describe as, this character was a direct reference or direct inspiration but, I mean, yeah, theyâre all inspired by the things that we do, the things, both, again, in the real world, and also in the media we consume. And youâre gonna see elements of characters that, yeah, the things that weâve enjoyed, the things thatâve shaped us, show up in these characters. I think, for me, itâs, it comes down to, and I, I, writing is a deeply, can be a deeply personal experience, so even if you donât intend for it to be the case, things, parts of you are going to show up in your character, I think thatâs true for all the characters in The Veilguard. And, you know, sometimes itâs, exploring, exploring the, yâknow, things that, about yourself that you may like or may not like, and itâs also about exploring things about characters that you like or donât like, so. Thatâs kinda my long-winded way of saying yes, itâs impossible to not have that happen when youâre creating art. But I wouldnât say that thereâs one where you can say, oh this is this character, this is this character.
Katey: What was the thinking process behind making Harding a companion this time around? Was she always going to be one or did it evolve into one because she was such a lovable character?
John: Ohh, yeah. So Harding, I mean. When we released Inquisition, it was impossible not to see the love that people had for our murderous girl next door dwarf. Sheâs always been a fan favorite obviously, but I think beyond that, itâs something that there, that Hardingâs writer wanted to explore. There was more of a story to tell there, more perspective, and beyond that, Harding obviously has a strong connection to Solas, and to the, to Varric, and to the events of the past ten years, so. I wouldnât say itâs always been, but Iâd say Hardingâs probably one of the first ones we settled on as like, yes, this is a character we want and the writer had a story that they wanted to tell with her, so, it just made sense.
Matt: You know, I think actually, to piggyback on that, thatâs something I hadnât really even thought about that much, but, and itâs not a huge part of her character, but, she tends to be one of the people that have the most insight into he was.
John: Yeah, thatâs exactly it, thatâs exactly, and yeah, thatâs a great way of looking at it too. It also provides you with a little bit of that, that perspective. For players whoâve been around, you know, who played with previous Dragon Age games, but also for new ones, who was Solas? What kind of character was, was he?
Matt: Yeah.
John: Yeah, itâs a great, itâs a great, using characters to provide windows onto the world is honestly one of my favorite things.
Matt: And, and when I say was, I just mean, in Inquisition.
John: Yes, thatâs, thatâs exactly it, yes. Thank you for correcting that.
Matt: Yeah.
Katey: And what approach are you taking to quest and world design in The Veilguard?
John: I think for us it just comes down to relevance and narrative heft. We want to make sure that each quest provides either a perspective on the world or perspective on the characters, or feels immediately and obviously relevant to what youâre, what youâre doing here. Youâre here to save the world and, again, at the end of the day, one of the things that we heard, we heard loud and clear, was some feedback about how relevant, or in this, in our case, not relevant, previous quests have felt, so for Veilguard, we really wanted to make sure that these quests felt like something that you, somebody faced with the end of the world would believe was necessary and important. So, again, thereâs quests of all sorts and sizes, but all of them share that same feeling of, this is the kind of thing that The Veilguard would do. This is the kindâve thing that my hero would do, especially faced with the end of the world.
Corinne: Yeah, thatâs, thatâs really good John. Thatâs so right. I would just, again, double-down on how hand-crafted all the quests are, and whether, whether youâre doing, like, the main story, or youâre journeying with your companions, or youâre out exploring and you encounter a mystery. Everythingâs handcrafted, intentional. We spent a lot of time listening to what yâall said, and of course everyone has slightly different tastes, but, you know, youâre not gonna be gathering shards in the Hinterlands. Everything is built with intention, and, you know, a dev there lovingly handcrafting the experience.
Katey: Are there any locations in the game that can only be accessed by making specific story choices?
John: So I donât wanna get too much into spoilers here because this does start getting into spoiler detail, but I will say that locations can fundamentally change based on decisions you make. Some of the parts of the world that you go to, you can have, the decision, the choices you make have an impact on how these spaces exist and develop, so, yeah, and again, donât wanna too many into, into story spoilers, but, your decisions do impact how the world shows up.
Katey: And will we be able to control our companions in combat through tactical mode, or if the PC, or player character, gets KOâd, like in previous games?
Corinne: Right, so. If Rook gets KOâd, your player character gets knocked out, this time around it is time to re-load your save, or better yet, the companions have really interesting progression, you can spec them out to be able to revive you, but thatâs, thatâs if youâve invested in their own progression and what they can do. And that said, I, I mentioned this earlier but I, I personally spend more time in the nature of this combat system when everything comes together, interacting and directing the companions than I have in any of the other games, so, like, like that, that interactivity between them, once you play it youâll see how, just engaged the team is.
Katey: A user named Itâs Sarah said, my real most important Dragon Age question is, will Solas still occasionally or dramatically speak in iambic pentameter?
John: You know, I was, I actually spent a little bit of time trying to figure out if I wanted to answer this question in iambic pentameter and then I very quickly gave up. Massive kudos to Patrick who, who always writes Solas so well. Again, Solas is a returning character, itâs the same Solas you know and love, or hate, depending on who you are. Same writer, so, I think, this has been, the answer is, well of, yeah, itâs Solas.
Katey: Will our decision of who in particular was left behind in the Fade be important?
John: So, while that decision does not show up, that â sorry, let me, restart. Not for The Veilguard. That decision doesnât show up here. Now, that said, that doesnât mean thatâs thatâs not a decision that will ever be important in the future, so. Again, not for this one, though.
Matt: Iâm glad to hear you say that, John, because one of my favorite stories was Bob getting stuck in the web in reboot and it just feels like -
John: Thatâs a, thatâs a deep cut!
Corinne: Very, thatâs a deep cut.
John: Holy smokes.
Corinne: My goodness.
John: The sound of my childhood.
Katey: Will we have mounts again? If so, any hints to what types weâll have?
Matt: So no, no, mounts, excuse me. Mounts were, they were, they addressed a need in Inquisition that we donât have in Veilguard, and youâll see why, when you get to play.
Katey: LightningStar asks, how is the side quest design? Will they be mostly story-based, or will there be a lot of radiant quests or resources or Power, like in Inquisition?
John: We talked about it a little bit earlier, but, no, they are all hand-crafted and story-focused. Again, narrative, the companions, not just the companions but the characters in the world as a whole are so much at the core of The Veilguard that, anything other than hand-crafted quests just felt like it would be a disservice to the game we were building.
Corinne: Yeah. And maybe, we can clarify as well, because, like Power was such a divisive mechanic in Inquisition. Thereâs no mechanic like that that blocks your progression until you fill a bar, right, like thatâs just not a thing in this. You have the autonomy to engage in these, these quests as you like. Thereâs no, like, y'know, grind-out gates before you can progress.
John: Thatâs right, yeah. Again, we wanna make sure that, again, that doing this content feels as natural and part of the logical flow of the story as possible.
Katey: So, it looks like we only have time for three more questions, so Iâm going to get through those. With this next one, is from someone named Jason. Will there be a similar system to the War Table missions?
Corinne: Ooh, interesting. So, we havenât talked much about the playerâs base, the Lighthouse. And weâre gonna save that for a beat, but what I will say is that the Lighthouse, your headquarters so to speak, it has its own unique purposes and functions this time. So thatâs an area that weâll, weâll leave for you when we talk more about the Lighthouse, and then when you have a chance to hop in, youâll be able to see what those unique purposes and functions are.
Katey: If there is dual-wield for warriors, will it rely on dexterity or strength?
Corinne: Ah, okay, yeah, yeah. So we did wanna bring dual-wielding back. It is part of the rogue kit this time. So warriors are really focused on mighty two-handed weapons, canât wait til you see, when you swing and connect with those weapons, thereâs, thereâs a real heft to it. And then of course sword and shield, so. Weâre leaving the dual-wielding to the rogues, but you, you can see just, the amount of hits you can get in in rapid succession dual-wielding as a rogue is really satisfying.
Katey: And the last question that weâre able to get to today, is, what have been some of the challenges and advantages of working on a single, on a single game for so many years? How did you sustain the work in yourselves and the process?
John: That is a fantastic question. I will say for myself, Iâve often joked, and I donât know how much of a joke it actually is, that when this game is out and I suddenly donât have to keep all these pieces of game and lore and story and everything straight in my head, Iâm suddenly gonna be able to speak Latin or something because thereâs gonna be a ton of brainpower freed up. But for me itâs just, you know, it's, the thing that keeps me sustained is just knowing the game that weâre building is the right one. Knowing that the beats are coming together, and knowing just how much people care about this franchise, care about these games, and how excited people are going to be when they get to see the fantastic work that the team has, has been doing. And that really is, I can say, Iâve been on this project since the start, and even today, I see things on a daily basis, Iâm like holy â smokes, sorry, I almost swore, I canât believe what the team is doing, I canât believe the, how good this looks, I canât believe. Because itâs a huge game. Thereâs pieces that I, I donât see every piece of the game every day so, I get pleasantly surprised on a daily basis and that, I will say, you know, confession, sometimes if Iâm having a particularly long day, Iâll spend about an hour late at night just watching cutscenes coming in, watching the work coming together and just, sitting back and being like, holy smokes, I cannot wait for someone who hasnât seen this every day for so long as I have to experience this and just be blown away by the work, so.
Corinne: It's, itâs been very real, hasnât it? And, and I will just say, speaking on behalf of the dev team, everyoneâs working so hard, theyâre putting so much passion, so much of themselves into it. Like this is a franchise they truly love, and seeing your support, cheering us on, itâs just meant a lot to them, so, let me just say thank you to all of you.
Katey: And I wanna say thank you to you three for taking the time to do this. I know that it matters a lot to the community to be able to, you know, get some time with you guys and, you know, make sure that some of their dying questions are, are answered, so thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to do this. For anyone whoâs still listening I promise that Iâm that Iâm working on a way for these questions to be immortalized somewhere. Stay tuned for that so that you donât have to worry about this, just, you know, disappearing into the ether. So, stay tuned, thank you all for your time. Anything else we wanna say before we jump off?
Matt: Thanks everyone.
John: Thank you. Yeah, Iâm super excited to show more of this and, yeah, this is gonna be, hopefully this is the first of many of these opportunities to talk to you all directly. Again, itâs been a while, and getting to talk about this game has been absolutely exciting. I know for myself, as well for the rest of the team, so thank you all.
Corinne: Just thank you, itâs, the Dragon Age community, how much it means to you, how much it means to us, itâs just wonderful to see you all so invested and excited to come here and talk to us. Thank you again, truly.
Katey: We'll hopefully do something like this again soon. Okay, cool, have a great day everybody! Talk soon!
John: Bye yâall!
Matt: Bye.

Exchange Part 5: Crave
~6k words, kinda brainless smut, mostly Jennie anal
It was so crowded tonight that it was almost impossible to breathe, let alone move. Since word spread that all four Blackpink members were going, it appeared that half the industry was keen on attending. Unfortunately for you, this made it nearly impossible to track down Jennie's whereabouts. You were on the verge of giving up when you felt someone's arms around you from behind.
âWhere the fuck have you been?â
That accent was one youâd never have an issue recognizing. âRosie!â you smiled, turning around to face her. âWhereâs Jennie?â
âI thought she was with you!â she shouted over the blaring music. âCome with me, I canât hear shit here!â
With that, you took her hand and followed her to a booth on the side. Without hesitation, the occupants stood up to offer their seats which you and RosĂ© accepted. âStay,â RosĂ© instructed one of the men who was sitting on the side before she turned to face you. âSo just to be clear, no blowjob from Jennie yet?â RosĂ© asked bluntly, making the guy sitting on the far side of the booth perk up.
âNo, I was looking for where you two went.â
âPerfect, me first,â RosĂ© pushed you back against the cushions and began tying up her hair. She pulled out her phone and tossed it to the guy sitting in your booth. âPut your number in there, youâre my witness in case I need it,â she told him before turning her attention back to you and bending over your lap.
âRosie what are you doing?â
âWhat does it look like?â she laughed as she unbuckled your belt. âDo me a favor and pull the curtain, I donât do free shows.â
âWe could go somewhere more private,â you suggested as blood began flowing between your legs. âDonât each of you have your own rooms this time?â
âNah, this is fine, thereâs enough cover with the curtain up,â she shot down the suggestion as she freed your cock from your pants. âPlus I need my friend here to witness this just in case.â
The man waved at you with an awkward smile.
âHey,â you nodded back at him as you got comfortable with RosĂ©âs hand around your shaft. âWhat the hell are you talking about Rosie?â
âJust a stupid game that you donât have to worry about,â RosĂ© dismissed your question while stroking your cock to life before turning to the man. âScoot over, you should also get to enjoy this.â
âOh okay,â he stammered, sliding over in the booth so that he was sitting next to RosĂ© before placing her phone on the table. âWhat should I do?â
âCan you take your dick out for me?â RosĂ© asked innocently, her voice sweet as sugar, as if she was making a completely normal request. She watched the man fumble with his pants before lowering them and freeing his cock. âIs it okay if I touch you?â
âY-Yes, absolutely!â the man gasped as RosĂ© wasted no time and grabbed his shaft.
âJust give me a warning when youâre about to finish, thatâs all I ask,â RosĂ© whispered as her fingers toyed at the manâs cock. âCan you do that for me?â
âYeah, of course,â he moaned as RosĂ© began gently stroking him.
âGood boy,â she smirked before turning to you again. âAnd as for you, no warning. Surprise me, hold my dirty mouth down on your cock and cum all over my tongue,â she moaned before letting a glob of her spit fall from her lips onto your tip.
âWhatever your heart desires Rosie,â you sighed as her mouth finally made contact with your cock. âFuck thatâs nice.â
âMmmhmmm,â RosĂ© gagged as she worked your cock with her lips.
She bobbed her head up and down your cock a few times, making sure to thoroughly coat your shaft with her saliva, before pausing with her mouth held firmly on your tip. Then, she started stroking your shaft with her hand, gripping firmly and twisting her fingers slightly with each stroke.
âFuck Rosie, yes,â you moaned, placing your hand on the back of her head and closing your eyes.Â
Your moans were her motivation and she squeezed just a bit harder with her fingers while using her mouth to suck on your tip. Her tongue began flicking at your frenulum, working its way to the head and swirling around it. Your cock was throbbing inside the warmth of RosĂ©âs mouth, ready to explode already.
Just not yet, you couldnât do that to her. You shut your eyes tighter, mentally blocking out the blaring music, ignoring the sound of RosĂ© jerking off another man next to you, you let RosĂ©âs wet and warm mouth become the only sensation in your world. Then, right when she started pushing her lips further down your shaft, you felt this overwhelming urge to go deeper.
With that, RosĂ© began gagging on your cock as you pushed down on the back of her head, pressing her nose all the way down against your crotch. With your cock fully embedded in her neck, you started pumping your hips upwards. You opened your eyes to see RosĂ©âs body was fully tensed, a sight to behold truly.
The hand she once had on your cock was now placed firmly on your thigh, pressing into your skin, while her other hand was no longer stroking her guest, instead it was tightly holding onto the table, her knuckles burning white. At this point you werenât entirely sure how RosĂ© was holding up, but she made no efforts to back away.
So with that, you went all out. Bringing your other hand to RosĂ©âs head as well, you started grunting involuntarily as you pushed your cock as hard and fast into her mouth as you could. You went on for two minutes straight, not stopping at all, giving her no break, until you felt you were about to finish. Two minutes of pure heaven, two minutes of face fucking RosĂ©âs mouth, thatâs all you could manage.
As per her request, right when you felt your cock ready to blow, you pressed RosĂ©âs head as far down as you could. She was a good sport about it, desperately trying to jab at your tip with her tongue right until you began unloading, painting the inside of her mouth. You didnât ease up until you felt the last of your cum enter her mouth, at which point you finally let go of her head.
RosĂ© immediately started coughing, spitting some of your cum out into her hand. âThereâs so much,â she croaked, looking up at you with her eyes watery. Then, before you could say anything, she scooped it all back into her mouth, shutting her eyes before swallowing.
âYouâre so fucking hot,â you moaned as she started wiping her eyes dry.
âThank you,â she smirked before picking up her phone. âFucks sake, you completely ruined my makeup already.â
âMy bad,â you chuckled as you pulled your pants back up. âGuess I got excited. You still look beautiful though.â
âYeah no shit? My throat is burning,â RosĂ© whined as she tried to wipe her smudged mascara off. âBut thank you again, just do me one more favor.â
âAnything for you after that.â
âIf you find Jennie, send her up to my room.â
âSure,â you agreed. âIs everything alright?â
âFucking perfect,â RosĂ© put down her phone and turned to you with the brightest smile imaginable. âWe had a little bet over you, and I just won.â
âA bet? I feel used,â you feigned annoyance. âHow could you do such a thing?â
âYou feel used? Excuse me?â RosĂ© burst out laughing. âWhat about my poor throat?â
âYou have a point,â you laughed before inhaling sharply as RosĂ© bent over and gave your sensitive tip a few final licks, sucking on any remaining cum. âFucking hell, someoneâs horny tonight. Iâll be seeing more of you later, I hope?â
âYou have no idea how badly Iâve needed this night, and you also know where my room is, Iâll be up there for a bit with my new friend. Youâre of course welcome to join me whenever you fancy,â RosĂ© leaned forward and kissed your cheek before standing up and holding her hand out for the man. âCome.â
The two of them left for the elevators, the man barely being able to hide his excitement as he skipped alongside Rosé, leaving you alone and looking for Jennie. It was a pleasant surprise when you found her within minutes despite how packed the club was tonight - you just had to follow the biggest crowd.
There she was, on her knees wearing nothing but some skimpy panties in the middle of a circle of men, shoving her pussy against some guyâs face while half the crowd jerked off. As soon as she saw you, her face lit up and she ran over towards you, ignoring the whines of the men who just lost their entertainment.
âI found you!â she slurred as she jumped onto you, pressing her bare tits against your face.
âYou did, good job,â you grabbed Jennie by her ass, holding her up. âWhereâs the rest of your clothes?â
âI donât know!â she replied cheerily, smiling at you as she leaned back. âDo you like my tits?â
She was drunk as hell, you thought to yourself as you carefully lowered her. âYeah, theyâre lovely,â you smiled back, giving them a quick squeeze before looking around for her clothes. âOh,â you flinched as Jennie shoved a glass into your hand, spilling half of the contents onto your shirt.
âDrink with me!â she held her own glass up happily.
âAlright, but weâre taking a break after this one,â you replied, clinking your glass against hers and downing the half of the shot that didnât make it onto your shirt. âNow give me that and come with me,â you took her glass from her and grabbed her hand, guiding her away from the crowd.
âOne more drink,â she giggled, clearly enjoying herself a bit too much.
âWe will, but first letâs find somewhere quieter, okay?â you bargained with her, pulling her hand.
âWhy? Iâm having fun!â she swatted away your hand playfully.
âWeâll have more fun still, but I need you to come with me first,â you urged her, wrapping your arm around her waist to stop her from falling.
She pouted her lips, forming a cute little frown as she looked up at you. âBut everyones being so nice,â she whined.
âYeah, because you have your fucking tits out Jennie, now come on,â you started to lose patience.
With a reluctant sigh, she leaned into you and latched onto your arm. âFine, as long as you promise to fuck my ass.â
âYeah, right, whatever you say.â
She let go of your arm and stopped moving. âIâm serious,â she glared at you, crossing her arms. âTell me youâll fuck my ass.â
âOkay fine, yes Jennie I will fuck your ass,â you sighed. âNow can we go?â
âDo you mean it?â she stared at you with doughy eyes, flipping back and forth between anger and plead.
âI do,â you reassured her as you took off your coat and wrapped it around her before taking her hand in yours again. âNow come on.â
âWhy do you have to be so responsible,â Jennie mumbled as she followed you down some hallways into a private room.
âBecause one of us has to be,â you chuckled, closing the door behind her and locking it. âAnd because I care about you,â you added as you walked over to a mirror in the room and took off your vest, taking a look at the state of your shirt.
âDid I do that?â Jennie cried as she noticed your shirt. âLet me fix it.â
âItâs fine Jennie, itâs just a shirt,â you tried to stop her but she was having none of it.
âStop it!â she whined, wrestling your shirt off.
Once she got it off you - which you only allowed because she was about to tear it - she tossed it aside and pressed her mouth against your skin, sucking on your chest. Her lips were warm and soft, roaming your body freely.
âJennie,â you tried getting her attention but she was on a mission to rub her tongue over every square inch of your body at this point.
âOh yeah, I gotta do this before Rosie,â she slurred her words as she dropped down to her knees. âI need you to cum in my mouth.â
âRosie already got you beat there,â you informed her, but she didnât care at all, ignoring you while yanking down your pants. âJennie, how about you just rest for a bit, weâll do this later.â
âNo,â she slurred, face full of determination as she lowered your underwear as well, her gaze fixed on your cock. âLet me make it up to you for ruining your shirt.â
âYou seriously do not have to do anything right now, really.â
âWhy arenât you hard?â she pouted as she looked up at you. âDo you hate me?â
âWhat? No, of course not,â you groaned, accepting the fact that Jennie was going to be difficult until you gave her what she wanted. âAlright, come here,â you stepped out of your pants and walked over to the bed, sitting on the edge and motioning for Jennie to take her place between your legs as you stroked yourself slowly.
She smiled brightly before crawling across the room and planting her mouth firmly on your cock. It felt nice, there was no denying that, but you could tell she was struggling. She sucked on your cock for a couple of minutes in silence, moving slowly, breathing deeply against your skin, failing to keep a tight seal with her lips. Then suddenly she stopped - she leaned back and bent over, taking deep breaths.
âJennie? You good?â you gently rubbed her back, leaning down to take a look at her.
âYeah IâmâŠâ she paused to take off the coat you wrapped around her earlier, struggling until you helped her. Once it fell to the floor, you could see she was sweating, and her face lacked energy. â...Iâm good.â
âCome here,â you picked her up from her armpits and sat her down on the bed next to you. âSit tight for just a second, Iâll be right back.â
She nodded, confirming at least she was conscious, but she was really not in great shape. You quickly walked across the room and filled a glass of water, bringing it back to her. âDrink,â you held the glass up to her lips for her as she took a few small sips. âDo you feel nauseous?â
âNo,â she mumbled before pushing your hand away and bending over your lap again.
âWhoa there Jennie, not yet,â you picked her back up, scared she was about to throw up. âYou need to rest for a bit.â
âIâm fine, please I need to suck your cock,â she whined, trying to fight your grip. âOr else Rosie will win.â
âJennie, babe, Rosie already won,â you informed her gently. âFinish drinking this.â
She looked so incredibly distraught as she accepted the glass, chugging the water in one go before handing it back to you. Her gaze dropped to the floor, and you could see a flicker of sadness in her eyes. âI really want you to fuck my ass,â she murmured, still looking down, a hint of vulnerability in her voice. âIt feels so good.â
âWeâll get to that, I promise,â you reassured her, reaching out to brush a strand of hair behind her ear. âBut first I need to make sure youâre fine, and you need to rest.â
Jennie slid off the bed and onto her knees, turning around and bending over the side of the bed, her eyes glistening with a mix of frustration and pleading. âI donât want to rest,â she insisted firmly, looking up at you. âPlease, just fuck my ass, I promise Iâm fine. Itâs all I can think about.â
âJennieâŠâ
âJust for a bit? Please?â she whined, shaking her ass side to side as she begged you with her eyes, her voice full of longing. âI really want your big dick in my ass.â
Seeing her like this made it impossible to deny her, not that you really wanted to, your cock was throbbing at the idea of it by this point. âAlright fine,â you finally gave in. With Jennie literally begging for you to fuck her ass, who could blame you?
Her face lit up and she got more comfortable, sticking her ass up higher, arching her back and pressing her elbows into the bed. âFinally, you can go as hard as you want.â
As you lined up behind her, yanking her panties off her body, you slowly eased your tip into her asshole as she spread her cheeks with both hands for you. She was so fucking tight, especially since the only lube was from the bit of Jennieâs saliva still on your shaft. It was almost unbearable how snug her assholeâs grip was on your cock. You barely got two thrusts in before Jennie interrupted.
âNo! I need you to really give it to me,â she moaned, looking back over her shoulder. âFucking destroy my asshole.â
Just a few shots of alcohol and Jennie turned into an absolute freak, but you werenât going to complain. In fact, you found yourself smirking as your next couple of thrusts were significantly harder, hopefully to her liking. You were spreading her asshole wide with each thrust, working her body as she became increasingly vocal, each pump eliciting a mix of harsh moans and screams from the tight girl.
âOh fuck, Iâve missed this so much! I needed this,â she cried out, shoving her face into the mattress. âKeep going, donât stop!â
Not that you were going to, actually you had absolutely no plans of stopping at this point. Her asshole felt so fucking good. The tight, warm squeeze, massaging your cock with each pump - youâve missed this almost as much as she did.
âHarder, right there!â she begged, her voice rising as your cock found the right spots. Each push drew more squeals of pleasure from her lips. âPlease, fuck!â
It was becoming too much for you. Her enthusiastic moans were infectious, giving you strength that you didnât know you had, each time your cock slammed into her asshole you could feel a surge of invigoration coursing through her entire body.
âPlease, more! Give me more!â she screamed out, clenching her fists hard as she surrendered to the sensations.
At this point you couldnât physically go any harder. Jennieâs ass cheeks were rippling with every thrust, her entire body being shoved into the bed without any remorse. She screamed, moaned, made all sorts of noises, and you just kept going - kept jamming your cock up her tight ass. It felt fucking divine.
âSo fucking tight,â you grunted, pressing deep down on her hips with your hands, squishing her soft body beneath you.
Your cock was burning up with pleasure. It felt almost too good. Each and every thrust up Jennieâs ass felt better and better for you as her tight body began molding to your cock. Jennieâs asshole was perfect. With how hard you were jamming yourself into her, you could even feel your balls swinging up, slapping against her dripping pussy.
The strength in your body was failing, going this hard for this long was exhausting, yet somehow you were still pumping into her asshole. So fucking tight. Your fingers were even starting to hurt with how hard they were pressing into her body, but you didnât care. Your cock was ready to blow. Her asshole was too much, you couldnât hold on any longer. The thought of pulling out and painting Jennieâs sweat-soaked back with your cum was appealing, but the tight grip her asshole had on your shaft erased that idea from your head.
With a final few pumps, your cock erupted inside her, spewing your cum right into her asshole. You filled her up, still pumping away as your white mess began leaking slightly with each thrust. Jennie had gone mute, completely overwhelmed with the feeling of your cum filling her up. She just took it, she took all of your cum right up the ass, holding still for you, coaxing it out of you. As you eased up, letting the final few spurts of cum exit your body, Jennie let out a long, satisfied sigh, her body relaxing, her asshole loosening up against your cock just enough for you to slowly pull it out.
âWow,â you muttered, on your knees behind her, admiring the fountain of cum spilling out of Jennieâs asshole right now. âThat was amazing.â
âFucking amazing,â Jennie echoed, reaching a hand behind her to gently rub your cum around her asshole. âHoly fuck Iâm going to be feeling this tomorrow.â
âYou are such a fucking slut, have I ever told you that?â you chuckled as you got up to your feet.
âYeah, but Iâm your dirty little slut,â she moaned as she turned around, sitting with her back against the edge of the bed. âFucking hell that sobered me up quick,â she added before opening her mouth wide for you.
Just as she wanted, you slipped your cock into her mouth, holding it steady as she slurped away, cleaning you off.
âBy the way, Rosie told me to send you to her room.â
Jennie took a final few licks of your cock before releasing it with a pop, looking up at you. âOh right, the stupid bet,â she sighed. âYou really fucked that one up.â
âHowâs it my fault you were busy sitting on some random dudeâs face and flashing your tits to the whole club?â
âI was fucking horny,â Jennie scoffed. âAnd that was absolutely because of you.â
âIs that right? You get horny when I cum on your face?â
âIâll bite your dick off.â
âAnd then who are you going to beg for when you need your asshole fucked?â
âFuck you,â she spat before starting to get off her knees.
âNot yet,â you pushed her back down to her knees and grabbed her hair. With your other hand, you grabbed the base of your cock and pushed it forward towards her mouth. âYou can get up when I tell you.â
She did just as you commanded - after shooting you a dirty look of course -Â licking up your cock, bobbing her lips up and down slightly. What she probably wasnât ready for was when you yanked her hair, shoving your cock deeper into her mouth as it stiffened up again. âThatâs right,â you teased, taking a firmer grip with your hand and pushing your cock even deeper. âOpen that throat up for me,â you whispered, giving her cheek a light slap with your other hand.
Jennie, to the best of her ability, tried to open up wider. Your cock was embedded pretty deep in her mouth, but instead of pushing that final little bit, you pulled back completely, leaving Jennie desperately gasping for air, coughing and spitting, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.
âYouâre not done yet,â you grabbed your cock and slapped it against her cheek, giving her just a second to spit the excess saliva out before you shoved it back into her mouth. âOpen your fucking throat,â you ordered her, this time forcing your cock until it was fully embedded down her throat, the back of her head being pressed against the side of the bed.
The sound of her gagging was beautiful, something you had grown to appreciate, especially since you knew how much she loved gagging on your cock. You let go of her hair and leaned forward even more, supporting your upper body with both arms on the bed, and began pumping your hips slightly, making sure to keep your entire length in her mouth as you pushed against her jaw.
Her warm saliva was dripping out of her lips and onto your balls as they pressed hard against her chin, your cock probing the back of her neck while she gagged. You relished in the warmth of her throat for a bit longer before pulling back and releasing your cock, resting your shaft against her face.
âFuck you,â Jennie cried out, gasping and panting, letting her spit flow freely down her chest. âThe fuck are you going so hard for?â
âDid you not hear yourself just a few minutes ago?â you taunted her, rubbing your cock against her forehead.
âThat was for my asshole, not my neck,â she snapped back, turning her face away from your cock.
âAnd thatâs next, donât worry,â you smirked before picking her up and tossing her onto the bed. âBut this time, I want to see your face.â
âFuck you,â Jennie repeated, but there it was, that glint of desire, the true feelings Jennie had as soon as she heard you were going to fuck her ass again - she couldnât hide them.
âCry about it all you want, I donât give a fuck,â you snarled as you reached for her ankles, yanking her body to the edge of the bed before lifting her legs up and placing them on your shoulders. âJust lay there you dirty little slut, we both know youâve been dreaming of this.â
No witty or sassy response this time, instead Jennie just glared at you, at least she tried to, but her face couldnât hide how much she was enjoying this as soon as she felt your tip prodding her entrance again. She was just as addicted as you were, but she was too ashamed to admit it.
It didnât matter. What did matter was how Jennieâs asshole opened up for your cock. At this point, her body was a perfect fit, adapted to taking your cock again and again. You eased forward slowly, leaning in and pressing her legs forward as your cock slowly entered Jennieâs asshole once again.
âAh,â Jennie let out a soft moan, scrunching her face up as she adjusted to the tightness. âItâs so fucking big.â
âYouâre a good little slut,â you whispered, encouraging her as you gave a few half pumps into her ass. There was such a stark contrast from the roughness from earlier, now it felt like there was far more passion being shared between you two.
âYour good little slut,â Jennie whispered back - it was endearing in a way. âFuck that little asshole as much as you want, itâs all yours.â
âI know it is,â you grunted, leaning forward and slowly pushing your cock in and out of her body. You could feel your cock twitching, it felt so good, as you watched Jennieâs expressions change with each thrust. There was no urgency, no rush, you got to really take it slow and enjoy the tight massage her asshole was giving your cock, pressing down hard on every individual nerve, opening up beautifully for you.
Jennie, now with her eyes shut, brought one hand between her legs and began making circles with her fingers, rubbing her clit to the same tempo as your thrusts. She kept going, playing with herself, moaning softly, her pussy leaking as she touched herself. Then, as her back started to arch up, she slipped two fingers into her pussy, inserting them in tandem, synchronized with how your cock pushed into her asshole.
âIâm going to fucking cum,â she mumbled, her mouth shooting open, eyes squeezing tighter.
With that view before your eyes, you bent forward, hips still pumping slowly, and grabbed both of her tits with your hands, leaning closer to her face before whispering into her ear. âThen do it, cum for me, my little slut.â She started fingering herself faster, and now it was your turn to match her pace. You began shoving your cock harder inside her, enjoying how her asshole was getting tighter and tighter by the second. Her body was building up to climax, and you could feel it through her asshole. After giving her nipples a sharp pinch, forcing a sharp squeal from her lips, you reached your hand up towards her face and grabbed her before whispering into her ear again. âCome on, let it happen, fucking cum for me.â
âI am!â she cried out, her body writhing softly as if the pleasure was too much. âIâm fucking⊠fuckâŠâ
Coherency didnât matter at this point. She was right there, so close, and with a final few pumps of her asshole she yanked her fingers out of her pussy and began rubbing her clit vigorously, squirting onto your stomach.
âThere it is,â you teased, picking up the pace of your thrusts as you felt your own orgasm rapidly approaching. âDirty fucking slut, cumming all over me.â
âI am⊠your dirty slutâŠâ she gasped, body going limp on the bed, her hand sliding up her chest, softly squeezing her tits.
Her pussy, glistening and soaked, looked fucking amazing right now, so unbelievably fuckable, but you were completely committed to her asshole. You reached forward with your hand, playing with her folds softly as you pumped away, your cock getting closer and closer. Her asshole was still squeezing your cock hard, but it was starting to loosen up as she relaxed, especially now that you were playing with her pussy as well. It only took you about a minute or so before you were ready to cum again thanks to Jennieâs tight asshole.
This time, even though your body desperately wanted to fill her asshole again, you settled on another plan. With your final few pumps, priming your cock until it was just one final pump away from busting, you pulled out and bent forward, grabbing Jennieâs hair and yanking it towards you with one hand. With your other hand, you grabbed your cock and began stroking it as hard as you could.
Within a couple of seconds, you began unloading onto Jennieâs face. Spurt after spurt, you made sure each one landed on her. She had her eyes shut tight as you plastered her cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin, coating every part of her face with your cum. Even as your cock stopped launching cum, you pulled her face closer and pressed your tip against her forehead, letting the rest trickle down her face.
Once you felt like you were done, you slipped your cock into her mouth one more time, having her lips squeeze out any cum you had left as you pulled back. Then, all that was left was for you to enjoy the view of Jennieâs face completely coated in your cum.
âItâs a nice look,â you chuckled as Jennie slowly opened her eyes, wiping them clean so that she could see. âDonât wipe too much off, Iâm walking you to Rosieâs room like this.â
âYouâre the fucking worst,â she whined as a smile formed on her lips.
âI know,â you sighed, collapsing onto the bed next to Jennie. âGive me a minute, get dressed and weâll go up.â
âDressed in what?â Jennie laughed, falling onto her back next to you.
âGood point,â you turned to your side to face her. âI wasnât kidding, it really is a nice look.â
âShut up,â she rolled her eyes, turning to face the roof in an attempt to keep your cum on her face. âAm I really walking through the club like this?â
âBe grateful Iâm not making you crawl,â you teased, reaching over and cupping a tit in your hands, toying with her nipple. âMaybe I should, make sure everyone knows youâre my toy.â
âPlease donât,â Jennie whispered, as if she was actually a piece of your property who would do anything you told her to do. âEveryoneâs already going to be looking since I lost my clothes.â
âHere,â you got off the bed and picked your shirt up off the ground, tossing it to her. âYouâre not getting my pants though, so put your panties back on.â
âThank you,â Jennie smiled, lifting herself off the bed before suddenly groaning and falling back down. âFucking hell, it still feels like your dick is in my ass.â
âTake a minute, weâll head up to Rosie when youâre ready,â you reassured her as you got dressed. You picked up her panties and walked over to her, taking a seat next to her on the bed and flipping her onto her stomach. Gently, you rubbed her asshole for her. âDoes that feel better?â
âBarely,â she moaned into the mattress. âIs it bleeding?â
âNo,â you replied before inserting the tip of your finger into her.âDickhead,â Jennie squealed, slapping your arm. âAlright letâs go, Iâll manage.â

A/N:
Probably not my best work, but I just had to let some random horny into a fic. Funny enough this was supposed to be a pretty plot heavy Jisoo chapter, but somehow it turned into pure PwP. Oh well, expect the next chapter to be heavy on the Jisoo plot (probably with some other member smut too, whatever happens in Rosie's room is still to come).
I'm running short of time for my break, but I promise I've still been working hard on my fics! I'd like to release a few more in the upcoming weeks, and I'm expecting my next post to be Kazuha. I also have recently thought of some one-shot ideas, so I might just randomly drop something that isn't part of one of my current projects. Stay tuned!

You grabbed the gun from Ben's suit and placed it in your bag without even waiting for a response since you knew he wouldn't refuse you. âMay I take this?â you said. âJust for safety issues.â
Ben joined the team to kill Homelander months ago, and because you two have been on missions together for so long, you two have kind of gotten to know one another. He frequently teased you, and most of the time he really got on your nerves. Another thing Butcher's wanted from you regarding Ben was to make sure you kept an eye on him while he was high or furious.Â
He sighed, âYou are already in safe hands,â and then gave you a little push toward the car, where Butcher and the other members of the team were waiting. âYou know that you are something different. Trying to protect yourself with a firearm in spite of the fact that you already have three supes with you, me included, who are the strongest and greatest.âÂ
âAfter the job is completed, even the biggest dicks become smaller. I wonder if your gigantic ego will ever be smaller one day, Ben.â
âNot mine,â he winked at you in between his laughter before the two of you entered the car. âHow on earth does a naive virgin speak like that? I must discipline your dirty mouth at some point.âÂ
He pushed until you reached the other side of the seat, and you muttered, âShut up.â Your face flushed. âYou leave no space for me.â
âDo I look like your personal driver?â Butcher growled at Hughie to come in too, questioned in a disapproving tone. Then Butcher turned back to Hughie, who was sitting in the passenger seat, and said, âWhere the fuck is your girlfriend?â
âShe arrived earlier with the others. They were driven there by Frenchie already.â
âWill you shut up and drive?â Ben messed with your hair for a while while ignoring what you said that he was going to ruin it, saying to Butcher in an irritated manner.Â
âGood boy gone bad, huh?â Ben ignored you and filled the entire seat between your complaints. Butcher murmured, âLet's fucking have some fun there since we may not be finding any free time soon, Navy girlies.âÂ
Luckily, Butcher managed to locate a club devoid of supes, but it was still massive and insane, complete with loud music. Hughie's gaze found Annie right away, and Butcher followed after him while he winked at the girl who was staring at him with a chuckle.Â
You gave Ben a drink and complained, âDo I have to babysit you?â Even though all of the girls were capturing his attention, he was undoubtedly hearing what you were saying.Â
He patted your head and said, "Babysit me?" with a look of astonishment. "Sweetheart, it's me who has been watching you for several months. After all, it's easy for you to get into trouble."Â
"Me?" As he messed with your hair, you giggled and attempted to push his hands away. "You're always on the verge of being furious for no reason at all, and I have to keep your ego boosted when you are about to lose it."Â
"Or maybe I act it this way to get you even more anxious; what do you think? Your human face looks so funny when you're trying to calm me," he smirked and remarked with arrogance.Â
Punching him in the chest, you said, "You're impossible," although your wrist ached. You sighed in agony, "Fuck, Ben," and made sure everything was okay by looking at your hand. Thankfully, there were no physical wounds.Â
"Why the fuck have you tried to punch me now? Haven't you still learned I'm built to last?" he complained, gently massaging your hands.Â
You muttered, "You're so annoying," while he sighed and released your hands. "I can't imagine why almost nobody likes you."Â
"All you do this evening is talk rudely with that lovely mouth of yours and spit poison. Also, you are to blame. How many times do I have to tell you not to try to punch me? Wish to adopt a tough-ass persona? You're just a little sensitive, soft doll," he continued to tease, causing you to flush with rage.Â
"Remember the day I gave myself a Temp-V injection? When I really punched you, you seemed rather surprised, and I'm sure it hurt."Â
âI didn't think being a temporary Supe could happen, and that was a while ago.â Ben continued to smirk and replied, âKeep that in mind. I was merely trying to comprehend the change in your scent when you unexpectedly struck me and pushed me against the wall. You know, I should have been doing that. Of course, I'm not referring to the punching; rather, I'm speaking to the second one, but more gently.â
Ben flirted with you, giving you a tiny pinch on the chin and a wink. He was perhaps the most flirtatious man ever, but the reason he acted this way was that you told him you were a virgin, and even when he understood you were becoming too shy and a little anxious, he continued to tease you verbally. You didn't feel uncomfortable about it, though.Â
âWhatever.â You rushed to end it, fearing he would start talking even more profanely. You tried to silence him by putting your palm over his mouth. âWhen are you going to shave this beard? It's really lengthy.â
He murmured, âI thought you liked it longer and thicker,â as he combed his facial hair.Â
This time, instead of being annoyed, you giggled. âYou're impossible.âÂ
You said, âI'm going to check on Annie and others,â feeling a little guilty for something you didn't even understand when you saw him searching for women who fit his tastes. âSo that you can have your fun.â
Ben, who had just bought a drink for himself, approached a redhead who had been staring at him passionately ever since he entered the bar. You led the way to join Annie and the rest of the team, but you were carrying a heavy weight that you couldn't quite explain. You did your best to ignore the stupid ache in your heart and laugh out loud at Butcher's half-made-up stories. It was a rare, heartfelt moment of calm after months, shared by all of you as you briefly watched the redhead woman take Ben's head and lead him to the second floor.
Ben's social batteries ran out after a few hours, and when he got into a fight with Butcher, you volunteered to take him home in your car because you were starting to have headaches too. Annie and Kimiko were dancing in the center; it appeared like they were just getting started. Either their heightened enthusiasm was to blame, or you simply didn't feel like having fun at that particular time. Ben was the source of your annoyance because he preferred to spend his time in the club having fun with other women and left you kind of alone.
You just said, âI will drive Ben back; just stop arguing for once,â and snatched Butcher's keys. âI assume everyone will be arriving home late. It appears that Kimiko and Annie won't be calling it a night anytime soon.â After observing them for some time, they realized you were right. Kimiko was high as fuck.
Ben didn't have a shower in his own room, so he quickly took one in yours once you drove home. Surprisingly, he hasn't complained to Butcher about it in any manner, and you've allowed him to use yours anytime he needs to, even if he occasionally takes a shower a bit too frequently, leading you to believe that he does it on purpose to irritate and enrage you so that you two can argue. But no matter what, his unique word choice never failed to make you chuckle.
As he was taking care of himself in the bathroom, you considered something you had long since ignored: your virginity. You could never go one step beyond, not even if you were in your mid-20s. You just didn't want it to be just one fleeting, pointless act, and you didn't feel anything at all. Perhaps you were a shamefully traditional person who was eagerly awaiting the realization of your real fate.
Ben used to make jokes about your virginity, which you didn't mind, but tonight it kind of got under your skin and made you feel uneasy, like there was something wrong with you. It just didn't seem right at all to be a virgin in your mid-twenties.Â
âYou appear to be lost in thoughts. What's consuming your mind so much?â Ben queried.Â
His long beard and damp hair were pouring over the floor as he emerged from the bathroom, his thick, muscular belly wrapped in a towel. Your eyebrows are raised between your sighs. Though you always knew he was extremely attractive, he seemed even more so at this moment.Â
Ben glanced at your short dress too, seeing that you were staring at him as your lips parted slightly in a hint of yearning. He smirked, conceited, seeing your legs pushed together.Â
âI think I can make a guess.â He walked over to sit on the bed next to you and mumbled.Â
You hesitantly said, âI was thinking something,â not quite sure what to say exactly.Â
âAbout?â
You abruptly asked, trying not to flush too much as you moved the bed and fully turned your body to face him. âWould you take my virginity?âÂ
Ben exclaimed, âWhat?â with his lips parted in wonder as he tried to understand what you meant and raised an eyebrow.Â
âYou already heard me.âÂ
Ben laughed and ignored your request, saying, âAre you drunk or do you need to jerk off? You're going to be a good nun when you grow up.â
âI'm serious here,â you said, blushing red from embarrassment and rage at the fact that the fact that he didn't take you seriously at all.
Ben's mocking expression changed to one of confusion as he realized you were serious. âI thought you were waiting for the love of your life or something. Why did you change your mind all of a sudden?â
âI wasn't waiting for someone,â you denied right away. âI decided being like this bothers me, and I want to change it.â
You continued, âWe have known each other for months, and I think we kind of formed a good friendship during this time,â before he said anything, you added, âIt must be okay to ask your friend for help, and it's better than to be with a total stranger, right?â
âI'm not the right person to share something like that.â Ben said in a serious tone, âI don't know why you made this decision so quickly, but you'll regret it tomorrow, I promise. If you are horny, I can give fingerfuck you, though.â It was clear that he was not hearing you clearly.Â
âIt's not really that significant, is it? I didn't wait for someone right away, as I had said. If I knew I would regret saying it, I wouldn't have said it in the first place. What's the purpose of friends?â
Hesitantly, you reached out to touch his damp arms to gauge his reaction while also conveying your concern. You felt your small confidence begin to fade as you noticed he was staring at you with the same expression, so you brought your hands back to yourself. âWell, of course I won't try to convince you to take my virginity if you don't want to get into such an intimate interaction with me,â you said, trying not to seem offended or disappointed. âIt's a different issue.â
Your heart raced under your thin dress as you anxiously awaited his response.Â
âI would fuck you with pleasure; it's not that I don't want it,â he added, examining your bare legs and breasts as they rose and fell in time with your heavy breaths. He whispered, placing his rough palms on your chin. âBut I can't promise it won't hurt, and I don't want it to be just a one-time thing.â
You muttered, âI know it's going to hurt,â and at last he relaxed and seemed to agree.Â
He smirked and continued, âI'll fuck your cunt whenever I want,â staring right into your eyes and making you tremble at the sensation. âYou'll spread your legs for me and beg me to fuck you.â
âIt's better,â you said as his hand lowered to your throat, causing you to become even more thrilled. You chuckled awkwardly and murmured, âPractice makes perfect, right?â
Your lips parted in ecstasy as his thumb massaged your hardened nipple, and he gently pinched it between his fingers through your dress. He didn't even slightly break eye contact with you, as if he wanted to watch every move you made.Â
Ben mumbled, âI wonder if you're dripping under there already,â as he climbed on top of you. Feeling uncertain about what action to take, you placed your quivering hands on his large chest.Â
His palm stroked your pussy through your underpants, and you clenched around nothing, murmuring, âI feel like it.â You were already embarrassingly drenched; you knew that.Â
âBen,â you murmured quickly, and his hand instantly froze there. He stared at you, confused, not knowing if you wanted to stop or not. You grabbed his wrist and stopped him just as he was about to return his hand to himself. âCan you do the entire job for tonightâ you said in a hesitant manner. âI have absolutely no idea what to do.â
Ben surprised you with a kiss on the forehead and said, âOf course I'll do the entire job. You just lay down and relax. I'm going to take care of you well, okay?â
You nodded quickly, trusting that Ben knew what to do when he started to rub your pussy through your underwear again. Your hips rose higher to meet his movements as he played with your clit with a gentle thumb. âLet's get rid of your dress, huh?â he said, helping you to remove it from your body. You were lying under him naked, except for your underwear.
You wanted to hide your body with your hands because you felt a little shy, but you forced yourself to look at him with courage because you wanted this to be good. Even if he was already erect under the towel, he ignored his own needs to give you the pleasure you needed first.
Then he pinched your nipples once more and added, âYou have such lovely tits.â Before you could respond, he put his warm lips on one of your tits and started sucking, giving you very light bites. You were a little scared that he could harm you because you had a big power imbalance since he was a supe, but you chose to put your trust in him because you knew he had experience having intercourse with normal people just like you.
As he continued licking both of your nipples, you placed your hands behind his hair and pulled. You pushed his head to your tit as you raised your hip to match his movement, but you moaned loudly when he ripped off your panties and inserted one of his meaty fingers inside of you slowly, even though you were trying really hard not to scream. It was difficult to take even one finger, so tears welled up in your eyes, but you didn't want to ruin the moment.
Groaning, âFuck, you are tighter than I expected,â he lifted his head.
When he noticed your pained expression, he began to gently massage your clit with his thumb once again. Thankfully, this helped you feel better, and after a while, you began to slowly tighten around his finger.
He asked in a rough voice, âDo you like me fingering you?â and continued to push his finger in and out. âYour pussy is so adorable and swollen. You so desperately need me to fuck you raw.â
He commanded, âTell me it's just for me,â tensing up his motions as you continued to tighten around his finger.
You said, âJust for you,â and he attempted to press another finger, but you were simply too tense to take it. You said, âBen, be slow,â in a panic.
âIn order for you to take me easier, we need to properly prepare your little pussy. Now spread your legs and don't cover that adorable cunt,â he gave another command. It was then that you realized you were attempting to press your legs together.
You spread your legs so he could see you as per the directions he gave. You let out a loud cry of pleasure and agony as he carefully inserted another finger. Ben swallowed your groans and stretched you with two fingers, his warm lips meeting yours in a passionate kiss.
You were moaning inside his mouth while his tongue and fingers dominated you. Ben felt your wetness on his fingers, your hips rising to match his rhythm, and he felt like he might come without even touching himself.
With a harsh voice, he commanded, âCum on my fingers,â and proceeded to fuck you while your walls tensed up. With a loud moan and his name between your lips, you nailed his biceps while he watched you orgasm under his touch. âGood girl. You are so easy to make cum. Fuck, you're a needy one.â
You continued orgasming and wetting them while Ben held your fingers within. Even though your pussy felt extremely sensitive, he continued to finger you without giving you a minute's break after your climax had passed.
âBen, it feels sensitive.â
âFucking take it,â he growled. âYou'll come as much as I want you to.â
You muttered, âI don't think I can,â as your legs continued to shake uncontrollably.
âYou can and you will,â Ben responded, and he proceeded to fuck you even more forcefully than before.
The bedroom was filled with obscene noises, and your eyes welled up with tears of pleasure.
âCum to me,â he commanded again, and you instantly clenched around his fingers. Putting your hands over his head, you kissed him, pressing your lips to his in an attempt to stop your moans.
As you orgasmed, you sensed him grinning slightly against your lips throughout the kiss. He whispered, âYou're so fucking tight, you're almost going to lock me inside your pussy,â as you calmed down after your climax subsided. âI guess you're ready now.â
Your eyes widened with fear and dread as he removed the towel from his belly and threw it to the ground, revealing his firm cock. Ben began to give himself brief strokes while spreading your legs apart. Aware of your discomfort, he smiled slightly at you. âI'll do my best to be gentle. You're enough soaked already.â
You nodded to him, waiting tensely as you watched him pump himself between his rough hands. You tensed up abruptly as the tip of his cock touched your entrance, and he took himself in hand after giving it enough strokes.
He said, âRelax,â and kept pushing the tip inside. âFuck, take it already.â
You attempted to let him in, your legs trembling with desire and dread, but you couldn't stop clenching.
You whimpered, your eyes welling with tears, as he thrust his cock inside with a forceful move. You also pulled his hair around his neck. Your hips were being held in place by his hands, preventing you from moving them. You were certain that it would bruise badly.
You cried out in fear, âBen,â as he persisted in pushing. Tears fell from the corner of your eyes onto the covers when you were nailing his arms.
He groaned, âCalm down,â and gave you some time to relax. âIt's just the head.â
âSorry,â you said, ashamed that you weren't able to bear pain and adding unnecessary difficulty to the procedure.
His eyes widened at the sight of your face, and he planted a gentle kiss on your forehead. He whispered, âHey, it's okay. You take me so good, so warm,â in between kisses and proceeded to place his cock inside of you once more. You knew it was a major step for you when you felt like he broke your hymen. This time, his hands gently remained on your hips as he sensed a change in your feelings.
Thank goodness, you relaxed between his kisses and compliments, and your wetness allowed him to enter at last. Ben gave you time to get used to his size after his cock completely filled your insides.
After planting another hard kiss on your lips, he asked, âAre you okay now?â and stroked your cheeks.Â
You responded, âI'm okay,â as the agony lessened and you began to get pleasure from his cock pulsing inside of you.Â
Ben put his hands on the sheets, and as he started to move slowly inside of you, you locked your legs around his hip.Â
He groaned, âYou're so tight around me,â as he began to move faster. âI should have fucked you sooner.â
He gave you quick kisses, and his bushy beard tickled your chin as he began to fuck you quickly and roughly. âI'll turn this little cunt addicted to my cock.â
As you continued to moan beneath him, he gave another order: âTell me you want me to fuck you hard.â
You murmured, âPlease,â and he slowed down.Â
Ben wrapped his hand around your neck and said, âBeg me properly,â but he wasn't using force against you.Â
You sighed, âFuck me hard, please, Ben.â You moaned as you saw his mucsles stretching as he continued to penetrate you quickly and roughly. Your hands nailed his chest and broad abdomen.Â
He put your legs on his shoulders and stated, âI'm going to fuck you every day; make you my little cumslut. Do you enjoy having your friend fuck you? Does this turn you on?â
When he kept talking filth, you couldnât stop clenching around his cock.
He moaned, âFuck,â in between hard strokes. âLook at this pussy clench. You really get turned on by it.â
Ben intensified his movements as your legs trembled with pleasure around his hips, and you felt your climax strike with a loud moan and a cunning sneer on his face. You tried biting your lip to muffle the moans, but it was difficult as Ben fucked you raw, on top of you, dominating your whole body.Â
He whispered, âI'm going to fuck your face another time,â and put his thumb inside your mouth. âSuck it. Prove to me how much you crave my cock inside your mouth.â
You groaned in displeasure as he slowed. Ben strictly said, âSuck it, show me how badly you want my cock inside your mouth, and I'll fuck you as you need,â when you lifted your hips to get him to return to his previous rhythm.Â
With the expectation that he would like it, you put your lips around his thumb and started to lick it with your tongue.Â
He mumbled, âFuck yes, gonna cum inside that mouth,â and started fucking you quickly and roughly once more.Â
He muttered, âAlmost there,â and continued to fuck you while staring at your bouncing tits.Â
His hardness continued to throb inside of you as you tightened around him one more time and orgasmed. He moaned and spilled inside of you, filling you with his thick and warm ropes.Â
Ben continued to fill your pussy as your climax subsided. You felt incredibly satisfied because you felt so full of his seed.Â
When he was finished, he carefully pulled out his cock, exposing the blood at the tip. Ben gave you a long, hard kiss on the lips when he noticed you were staring at it.Â
You offered him a tiny smile as he whispered, âCome closer,â and he embraced you with his large arms. âAre you alright?âÂ
You continued to stroke his beard while responding, âYes.â Actually, you've never felt better.

a steamy part two â€ïžâđ„
â Itâs Friday the 13th! Gather âround, for some good olâ scary campfire stories!â Sam Wilson called out to anyone who would listen. A task that wasnât the easiest thing to ask for when all the college students in the area were trying to have their last bit of fun before fall semester started. Amongst the ones that werenât already drunk or passed out, a few were trying to find the perfect opportunity to sneak away into the night.
You on the other hand sat near the bonfire, appreciating the warmth it provided on this chilly night. Your back was resting against a log. The scratchy surface grazes against your black sweater at the slightest movement. Camping wasnât your ideal choice for a weekend getaway, but when your best friend Jane insisted on you coming along it was hard to say no. Especially, since you had already said no to multiple get-togethers throughout the summer.Â
Itâs not like you didnât want to hang out with her. The issue was that wherever she was her boyfriend wasâand wherever he was his friends were. And his friends included one smartass star pitcher for your universityâs baseball team who made it his lifeâs mission to be a thorn in your side.Â
Needless to say, you couldnât stand the man.
â It was actually 1982, not 1985,â Jane whispers her comment to you, nudging your arm lightly. You snapped out of your thoughts and looked at her, your clueless eyes meeting her amused ones.Â
â Youâre not paying attention to Samâs story, are you?â She quietly calls you out, leaning slightly closer. You shake your head sheepishly,â No. Kind of got lost in thought,â you admit. Jane nods in acknowledgment,â Youâre not missing much. Heâs just telling the story of the murders that happened here in â82,â she explains. You nod slowly, an eerie chill creeping up your spine. Everyone within fifty miles of the town knew of the horrific crime. It was the worst the town had ever seen.Â
A group of teenagers had snuck off into the woods to party a week before their senior graduation. They brought their camping gear to spend the night under the full moon to celebrate the milestone. They had gone so deep into the woods no one heard their music blasting all night.Â
No one heard their screams either as their life was taken from them.Â
You took a shaky breath, your fingers tracing random patterns into the dirt beneath you. Even though you could recite this story from memory it was different hearing it told in gruesome detail. Something Sam was not shying away from doing.Â
â Donât let Samâs story get to youâhere have a sâmore,â Thor spoke up, handing you a small disposable plate with a freshly assembled sâmore. His way of trying to comfort you.Â
â Thanks,â you shot Thor an appreciative smile, taking the sweet treat. Janeâs boyfriend had always been kind to you and you got along well. The mutual friendliness extended to all of his baseball friends.
Well, the friendliness extended to all his friends except for one. Â
â Heâs telling it wrong anyway, so donât pay it any mind,â Jane says causing you to let out a small laugh. Leave it to Jane to alleviate your nerves by just being herself.Â
You try to drown out Samâs true crime retelling and focus on the sugary gooeyness on your lap. Jane and Thor snuggle into each other beside you and a small smile appears on your face at the sight. You take a bite of the sâmore, letting the flavors melt into your mouth.Â
â The next morning the cops led a search party into these very woods. Everyone searched day and night for three days straight. Scouting every inch, no stone unturned, to find them. And then one day, one member of the search party found something. That member being my Titiâso listen close,â Sam sets up the big reveal.Â
â Wanna know what they found?â A voice you know all too well whispers into your ear from behind. The hairs on the back of your neck stand as his breath fans your ear.Â
â I already know,â you grit out, turning your head to glare at him. Bucky canât help the cocky grin that overcomes him when you look at him like that. He makes his way over the log and sits right next to you. You donât hide the displeasure on your face.Â
â Couldnât find anyone else to annoy, James?âÂ
â None worth my time, sweetheartâand it's Bucky.âÂ
You roll your eyes biting back a snarky comment. No matter the number of times he insists on you calling him by his nickname, you refuse to. Only his friends call him Bucky, and you're not friendsâfar from it. So to you, heâs James and nothing more.Â
â Weâre not friends, James. Friends donât make you miss your biology final,â you remind him bitterly. He looks at you with slight disbelief,â Youâre still stuck on that? How is it my fault the party went until four in the morning?â You bristle at his defensiveness.Â
â I donât know. Maybe by not kicking everyone out of your apartment?â you retort, taking another bite of your sâmore. Hoping to lose yourself in the sweetness of it before the distaste of his presence taints it.Â
â At least the professor let you make it upâŠâ he mutters under his breath.Â
â Thatâs not the point,â you snip, unable to let him have the last word. You pretend to focus on Samâs story, but really your attention is on the flames in front of you. The way they dance and crackle as if telling their own story alongside Samâs.Â
Bucky stares at you, his eyes scanning every detail of your face. His favorite pastime is finding all the ways to push your buttons. Thereâs something about your reactions that he canât help but want to see more of. He openly enjoys being the only one who can elicit such responses from you. Hell, you could say he was proud of it.Â
â Stop it.âÂ
â Stop what?âÂ
â The staring.âÂ
â Don't want to.âÂ
You turn to give him a piece of your mind but abruptly stop when you see the way heâs looking at youâor more so the way heâs examining your lips. His eyes reflecting more than just the golden flames in the bonfire. There was something deeper and not entirely unfamiliar. He had looked at you this way before, and yet it was still unrecognizable to you. An emotion you couldnât pinpoint, but that was heartstopping nonetheless.Â
His hand lifts to your face, his thumb brushing away at something on the corner of your mouth. Your tongue instinctively darts out to lick your lips and remove whatever remnants of the sâmore are left. Something unreadable flashes in his eyes. You wonder what he must be seeing in yours when his eyes drift from your lips to your gaze.Â
â You had a little something there,â his voice has a deeper cadence to it, contrasting the cheeky grin plastered on his face. That damn grin. Itâs all you need to snap out of whatever trance you were just in.Â
â Youâre insufferable,â you hiss out, getting up from your spot on the ground and stepping away from the bonfire. You hate how he does thisâhow easily heâs able to mess with you. Itâs like it's his second nature to know exactly how to get a reaction from you. Almost as if he knew you better than you knew yourself.
The vulnerability of it all is what ground your gears the most. Bucky was used to this. The flirting, the back and forth, the teasing, and having girls wrapped around his finger. The last time you were in a relationship was your freshman year of collegeâa few years ago. It had been too long of being touch-starved that the slightest of touches or gazes brought about a yearning deep within you. One that you swore Bucky could see right through and it made you detest the man more.Â
You hated feeling like you were being toyed with. But above all, you hated how much you actually didnât hate the attention he gave you.Â
You make your way over to one of the many trashcans around the campsite and dump the last bits of your sâmore in along with the disposable plate. Your appetite for the treat long gone after his little stunt.Â
You use your phone as a flashlight as you walk over to where all the tents are stationed. Itâs not too far from the bonfire, but far enough that the voices of everyone drown out into a low hum. A few people are already in the tents enjoying the night without the warmth of the fire.Â
â Y/n! Hold up!â Jane calls out to you from behind. You face her confused expression, â Everything okay?â You nod, your hands hiding in the pockets of your grey sweatpants,â Yeah, Iâm fine. Iâm just gonna call it a night,â you say tiredly. You donât want her to worry or keep her from enjoying her night.Â
â OkayâŠAre you sure? Because you seemed off after BuckyââÂ
â Please for the love of everything donât mention him.â
Jane drops the subject entirely, â Okay, okay. I wonât,â she assures you and pauses for a moment before she adds, â By the way, Iâll be staying with Thor tonight, so you have our tent all to yourself.âÂ
â Oh? OhâŠbehave yourself, Foster,â you warn her playfully. She rolls her eyes waving off your tease,â No promises.â You laugh togetherâthe exchange alleviating the heaviness in your shoulders.
After a light farewell, your best friend retreats to the bonfire. You find your eyes drifting from her figure to the back of Buckyâs head. Heâs still sitting in the same spot, right next to where you had sat. He was drinking away at a beer as Sam continues his story. You look away, ignoring the way your heart feels a small pang as it wonders if it would have been so bad if you had stayed.
Only Bucky had this way of infuriating you, but enticing you at the same time. A magnetic push and pull that tugs at you whenever youâre near him.Â
You crouch down and unzip your humble abode for the night. Gazing up at the sky before heading in. The moon is bright and full amongst the dark hazy clouds.Â
â It's not bad enough to have Friday the 13th, we've gotta have a full moon too?â you grumble before entering the tent. The knowledge of being in here alone all night sounds less appealing now. You wish Sam had told a different story to set the mood for tonight.Â
For the next couple of hours, you lose yourself in your sketchbook. Every corner of the tent became your makeshift desk as the soft scratches of graphite filled the air. A small LED lantern casting just enough glow to guide your intricate curves and shadows across the paper. At first, you were sketching a flower you had seen earlier in the day along a trail. You donât recognize the species, but the cluster of pretty violet petals vividly lived in your head and you wanted it forever memorialized in your sketchbook.Â
At some point, however, the petals turn into doodles and then unrecognizable scribbles. The creative flow taking a life of its own. You soon find yourself drawing a pair of eyes on another page. Giving them a space of their own. These eyes you recognize deep down, but they still have the same unreadable expression from earlier. Almost as if you hoped to decipher it by putting it on paper.Â
Maybe then it would be easier to look at them without being affectedâwithout feeling that pull.Â
Thereâs a loud thump that echoes close to your tent. You freeze at the sound. By this point, everyone had called it a night and retreated to their sleeping arrangements. It had been at least half an hour that you hadnât heard a single sound except for the chirping of crickets amongst a chorus of other creepy crawlers.Â
When no sound followed the thump you decided to ignore itâacting like you hadnât heard a thing. And yet, your fingers swiftly moved to turn off the lantern and close your sketchbook, neatly tucking it beneath your pillow.Â
Another noise rang outâthe skidding of dirt. And this time it was closer to your tent. Not directly outside it, but almost. You donât know why your heart dropped or why your fingertips went cold, but they did. You tell yourself itâs probably just someone going out to use the bathroom or some other related activity.Â
Your body betrayed your mind as it started to feel enclosed in the tent. Like a prey caught in a trap. Hopelessly awaiting the moment the predator decided to take them out.Â
You swallow the lump in your throat and with numb fingers, you grab your phone. The tent shrinking around you as your heart pounded in your chest. Going out to investigate the source of the noise wasn't the smartest idea. However, continuing to be a sitting duck in the tent was distressing you moreâand that helpless feeling overpowered anything else.Â
You slowly unzip the tent, trying to make as minimal noise as possible. You slip on your moccasins, putting one foot in front of the other as you step out into the night. Your surroundings are cast in shadows as the moon seems to be hiding behind a gloomy cluster of clouds. You look around and notice no one else is awake. Only dormant tents with sleeping residents inside accompany you in the night.Â
You scan the area, training your ear to see if you can pick up any noise.Â
Thatâs when you hear itâa rustling in the bushes.Â
You peer into the woods, your eyes narrowing hoping to center on something, but you canât see anything. Thereâs a slight fog that encases the lines of trees encircling the campsite obstructing your view.Â
You take a few steps forward, hugging your sweater closer to your body. The outside air catches you off guard with its falling degrees. The shadows at every corner of the woods become creatures of the night if you stare at them for too long.Â
Why were you doing this? Why had you decided this was a good idea?Â
You questioned yourself. An unpleasant shiver goes up your spine at the thought of you walking straight into a creatureâs claws. Your footing stumbled, and yet you found yourself walking further in the direction of the sound, the faint glow of your phone illuminating your path. You decided against using the actual flashlight on your phone as it could easily alert whatever was hiding in the foliage of the woods.Â
You donât go too far from the campsite. Your legs only take you a few feet away from the perimeter of it before tensing at the way the hoot of an owl cuts through the stillness of the night. Your breath caught in your throat, and you gripped your phone tighter. The edges of it digging into your skin.Â
â What are we looking for?â A voice too close for comfort whispers behind you and it causes you to shriek, your phone tumbling to the ground as you jump away from the source. Your eyes zero in on the culpritâyour blood boiling when your gaze meets his ceruleans.Â
James Buchanan fucking Barnes.
A deep chuckle erupts from Bucky at your reaction. Not only at the way you jumped, but also at the way youâre now seething. He stands there in a basic white tee and black joggers, his hair slightly unkempt from lying on it earlier in the night.Â
â What the hell is wrong with you?â You hiss, bending down to pick up your phone from the ground. The anxiety from before dissipating into irritation.Â
â Me? Whatâs up with you? Sneaking around in the woods at night. Thatâs kinda creepy, sweetheart,â he jabs with a smirk. You roll your eyes, exhaling to steady your breath,â Stop calling me that. And I'm not sneaking aroundâI heard something.âÂ
â And you came to check it out?âÂ
â Yeah.â
â You have no survival instincts, do you?â
â And you do? You're out here too.â
Bucky crosses his arms, his eyes roaming over your figure. Heâs thoroughly entertained by your attempt to catch whatever is out there in your cozy outfit. Itâs not exactly monster-hunting material.Â
â I let my buddy have the tent for the night. Heâs got a girl in there. Thought I'd sleep under the stars like nature intended,â he explains with a nonchalant shrug. A wry smile appears on your face,â Arenât you a great friend,â you reply sarcastically. Heâs about to give you a snippy retort when a branch breaks ahead of you, causing you both to snap your attention to it.Â
You both go silentâwondering if youâll hear anything more. Bucky takes a few steps forward to stand in front of you. Positioning himself between you and the unknown noise.Â
â Is that what you heard earlier?â He asks, his voice a hushed whisper. Your eyes drift up his form and the way his arm is slightly outstretched in your direction in a protective stance. Heâs looking in the direction of where the sound came from, but then his head turns back to look at you.Â
It takes you a second to gather your words,â Sort of. At first there was like a loud thud by my tent and then some rustlingâand now this,â you describe the unfolding events thus far.
He frowns,â Is your tent the one by Wandaâs?âAt his question you nod,â YeahâŠwhy?â He tilts his head slightly as he tries to recollect something.Â
â The two-person one with the purple edges?âÂ
â YeahâŠâÂ
His features soften, dawning on a sheepish expression. His protective stance faltering as he scratches the back of his neck,â The noise was me thenâsorry. I tripped over something while looking for a place to piss.âÂ
â OhâŠâ Is all you manage to say. Feeling utterly foolish for getting so worked up over nothing. What you had thought was something going bump in the night ended up being Bucky stumbling to relieve himself.Â
Another branch cracks in the murky fog. Reminding you that although the noises you heard outside your tent were explained, the ones here, not too far from you and Buckyâwerenât.Â
â Iâm gonna go check it out,â he takes a step forward, but you stop him. Your hand shoots out to grip the hem of his shirt,â Donât! Are you crazy? Youâre going to get yourself killed or something!â
His eyebrows raise, not expecting you to have that reaction.â Are you worried about me, sweetheart?â A smirk spreads across his face, a twinkle in his eye.â As ifâscrew you,â you deny harsher than you intended, removing your hold from his shirt. This only provokes him more, his smirk turning into a cheeky grin,â You wanna?âÂ
â You know what? I hope whatever is out there gets you.âÂ
â Oh, youâd miss me if it did. But donât worryâif it gets me, Iâll make sure to let it know youâre the one worth chasing."Â
Bucky doesnât give you a second to process what his words really mean. Instead, he takes out a small flashlight from the pocket of his joggers. He turns it on, shining the area ahead of him. A brazen expression is the last thing you see before he wanders into that direction of the woods as if there wasnât potentially something dangerous up ahead.Â
You wanted to protest, but you didnât. Rather, you end up standing there amongst the wilderness, watching as his form gets smaller and smaller until it disappears into the haze of the fog.Â
You feel uneasy as soon as you donât see him. Your chest feels heavy with the unknown. You call out to him. Thinking maybe heâs doing this to prove something or to mess with you. When he doesnât call back you find apprehension in the sinking pit of your stomach.Â
Behind you, the campsite is still in sight. The smart thing to do would be to go wake someone upâlike Thorâto go after Bucky. However, your feet work faster than your mind does, pushing you to follow after him.Â
This time you use the flashlight on your phone to light your path. The luminescence cuts through the fog as you trudge through it. Leaves crunching beneath your feet, and hands outstretched lightly to use the passing trees as support to persist onward.Â
You walk for a good few minutes before you finally spot him. Heâs standing by a tall pine tree, his right hand tracing over something etched into the bark.Â
â James! Come back to the campsite!â You whisper yelled, approaching him. He hummed,â So you are worried about me,â the smugness in his tone doesnât go unnoticed by you. When he turns to face you his eyes tell you he was expecting you. Like he knew in the end your stubbornness and pride wouldnât matter because youâd end up following after him after all.
You are worried about him. He needs no further proof than your actions.Â
There was a prickling of annoyance building up in your system. More than anything, you wanted to get out of the woods as soon as possible. The campsite feels like a haven awaiting your return.Â
â Can you stop being so insufferably cocky for one second and just come back to the camp before I drag your ass back?â You say through gritted teeth. You wanted to have more bark to your bite, but the inkling dread of what could be out here stopped you from crossing that line.Â
He stepped closer to you, the glow of his flashlight reflecting in his eyes in tiny glimmers,â Why? I thought you didn't care if âwhatever is out thereâ got me.â
â I donâtâbut Iâd hate to be an accomplice to that thing.âÂ
â Admit it. Youâre worried about me.â
By now Bucky was mere inches away from you. Having slowly sauntered right up to you. His eyes were daring you to speak the truthâhis arrogant smile tempting you to do even more.Â
â I came to get you back, but if youâre determined to stay here then stay,â you huff, spinning on your heels to storm off.Â
Buckyâs hand reaches out and encloses your wrist gently. Just enough to keep you from walking away. He sighs with defeated ire.Â
â Sweetheart, why won't you admitââ heâs cut off by the swift movement of something dashing past the both of you. He immediately pulls you in closer, his arms encasing you protectivelyâhis body a shield. One arm is wrapped around your waist while the other holds your head. Your own body leans into his as if bracing for impact.Â
From the corner of your eye, you can see the culprit of the racket. A deer dashing through the woods like it had somewhere to be. You held back a laugh at the revelation.Â
This is what had you so worried this whole time? A deer?Â
Even so, your heart races in your chest. And Bucky has you so tightly pressed into his that you can feel the way his own heart is thrumming rapidly. Both of your breaths work to steady from their instability as you realize there is nothing truly to be worried about.Â
You stay like this for what seems like an eternity. Finding comfort in each otherâs arms. The fog dances around your figures as if pushing you closer. The tips of your fingers tingle from where theyâre pressed at his chest.Â
When you finally register whose touch it is, you pull away. Bucky reluctantly lets you go. His arms awkwardly falling to his sides. You donât know what to say. He doesnât know where to start.
Why was his instinct to protect you? To keep you from harmâs way?Â
And why had you felt the safest all night in his arms?Â
You swallow the questions that desire to escape. Thereâs a part of you that feels like you should thank him, but then the other part feels stupid for wanting to do so. Knowing how much it would feed his ego to vindicate him as a hero.Â
â Guess it was just a deer, huh?â Bucky tries to cut through whatever tension is starting to build.Â
â YeahâŠsilly usâŠâ you reply, half-heartedly. Your mind still reeling from his touch.Â
You both go quiet again. The silence welcomes you where words fail to.Â
Out of nowhere, you feel a tiny bead land on your head. Followed by one on your hand and then your cheek. It's beginning to drizzle. The rain cutting through the trees and promising to kiss every inch of your skin.Â
â We should get going,â Bucky says, his palm cupped to catch a few droplets.Â
â Yeah, thatâs a good idea,â you agree, clearing your throat. In other circumstances, Bucky would rejoice and point out how, for once, you arenât arguing with him. But not right nowânot at this moment. Not when the memory of holding each other stirred something within you both.Â
No, now instead you walk back to the campsite in silence. Youâre a few steps ahead as Bucky decides to tow along at a slower pace. Seemingly lost in thought.Â
When youâre back at the campsite your eyes dart to your tent. Itâs within reach. A safety you can hideout in until the emotions Bucky arose in you fade away. Â
â Can I chill in your tent for a while? Just until the rain stops,â Bucky surprises you with his request. Until you remember he gave up his tent to his friend for the night.Â
â What? No,â your response is immediate. The thought of you and Bucky alone in your tent causes many scenarios to run through your head. You didnât think youâd make it through the night with him in it. You were barely hanging on as it is.Â
â I just saved your life.âÂ
â You did not.â
â Did too.âÂ
â James, you absolutely did notââÂ
â Please,â his soft plea tugs at the very part of you that wants to say yes. Heâs not the kind of guy to beg, but heâll do anything to not stand out in the cold rain. You being in an enclosed space with him was just a bonus.Â
An extremely tantalizing bonus.Â
â FineâŠbut only until the rain stops,â you concede. You werenât heartless enough to leave him out in the rain.Â
You zip open the tent and climb inside. You remove your moccasins and leave them by the entrance. The inside is spacious enough for the two of you, but you still find yourself going into the furthest right corner of it. You sit crossed-legged as you turn on the small LED lantern to illuminate the tent with its muted glow. He makes his way inside, his hair glistening from the rain. He leaves his muddied slides by your moccasins.Â
â This tent is way nicer than the one Sam and I got,â he comments, running a hand through his hair to dispel the droplets. Heâs trying to make light conversation, keeping his distance as he sits in the corner by the entrance diagonally from you.Â
â Janeâs family is really into camping so she had this one laying aroundâŠâ you mention. The oddity of small talk between you fills the space with a foreign dynamic. The rain goes from a sprinkle to a pour. Hitting the top of the fabric cacoon in harsh strokes. Â
He chooses to pivot the conversation.â Do you have everything ready for fall semester?â He asks you, maneuvering to sit with his knees bent, his shirt hiking up the smallest bit to expose the skin at his hips. You avert your gaze when your heart does a little flip.Â
â Almost. I still have one or two textbooks to get,â you reply, playing with a few loose threads of the blanket beneath you. Anything to not have your eyes wander back to him.Â
He scoffs lightly,â You already got your textbooks? Thereâs no way. I always get âem after the first week.â Unlike you, he canât seem to keep his pretty blues away from you. Your features heightened in the gentle sheen of the lantern. Intricate shadows scattered across your figure that made you look ethereal. The way his heart hammered in his chest romanticizing the sight of you.
â That's because Iâm responsible and youâre not.âÂ
â I am responsible. As captain of the baseball teamââ
â Spare me the team leader speech, please,â you groan, stopping him from continuing. Thereâs only so much you can take for one night. And hearing Bucky light up as he talks about the one thing heâs passionate aboutâthe one thing that humanizes him to you beyond his usual cheeky self. It would do more to you than just make your heart do a little flip.
Youâd end up saying or doing something you wouldnât be able to take back.Â
â Look, Y/n, Iâm just trying to make conversation here. You donât have to be so difficult all the time. Just talk to me,â Bucky brings you out of your thoughts not only by his exasperated tone, but by the way your name rolls off his tongue. He so rarely calls you by it. Heâs called you sweetheart endlesslyâand heâs even slipped a few sunshines in the mixâbut your name was foreign to his vocabulary. Â
Bucky is usually good at dealing with your constant back and forth. Some days it's the only thing he looks forward to. However, right now it was irritating him how much you pushed back. He wanted you to give in. To what, he wasnât sure. But he wondered what normalcy felt like with youâwhat just a damn friendly conversation felt like.Â
You sigh, meeting his eyes.â I donât want to talk. Sorry, I think Iâm just tired. Maybe we should go to bed,â you suggest, hoping that if he says yes you can sleep away the bubbling of emotions in your chest.Â
You can see the way he contemplates something, biting the inside of his bottom lip. Now heâs the one holding back. A beat passes and you nervously wonder if heâll turn down your suggestion.Â
â Fineâit's late anyway. But only if I get to sleep next to you. I promise Iâll keep my distance. Itâs just thereâs water leaking through the zipper at the entrance,â he mentions, his hand motioning to the entry. Your eyes dart to where heâs pointing and sure enough thereâs a small puddle of water pooling by it. Not knowing how long the rain would continue, you knew you had to deal with the issue.
You grab Janeâs camping gear that holds numerous amount of supplies in all of its various pockets. She always came extra prepared no matter the occasion. You take out a washcloth, scooting over to the entrance to soak up the forming puddle. You decide to leave it there neatly tucked underneath where the water was finding its way in.
â Alright, but if you snore I'm kicking you out,â you warn, but itâs more playful than serious. Something to lighten the mood before you go to bed. A way to dissipate whatever tensionâs built up so you'd be able to fall asleep.Â
Itâs hard to cut through the tension and alleviate its symptoms when your shelter from the storm seems to shrink the more you chat with Bucky. And now sitting right next to himâshoulder to shoulderâit seems like a damn near impossible task.Â
" Iâll take my chances. But just so you know, I donât go down without a fight,â he winks at you, your shoulders brushing. Your heart rate picks up and it takes everything within you to stare into his eyes and not focus on the way that simple contact sent a shiver down your spine.Â
His eyes drift to your lips causing your breath to hitch. The implications of where this could go are enough to pull you away from his spell.Â
â Goodnight,â you choke out. Subtly rushing over to your sleeping bag and settling into it. You donât see when he shakes his head, but you do hear how he chuckles lowly. He mumbles something under his breath, but you canât pick it up.Â
He makes his way over to Janeâs sleeping bag, but lays on top of it instead of nestling into it. Choosing to cover himself only in the maroon fleece blanket that was draped over your body too.Â
â Goodnight,â he finally says, his body turning to face away from you. You respond by turning off the lantern. The space is now engulfed by darkness. Only the faintest of light shines in from the outside, letting your eyes trace the outlines of objects.Â
You turn to your side. Your back facing his. You take a deep breath, concentrating on the sound of the rain to hopefully lull you into a slumber. But the air felt too thick and your body was burning up from the heat radiating under the blanket. There was a good foot or so separating your body and Buckyâs. And yet, you could feel the heat radiating off of him as if he was pressed up right against you.Â
It was too much. You swore you started sweating, so you shuffled under the covers and out of the sleeping bag. Every movement slow and deliberate as if to not snap the rope keeping the palpable tension in place.Â
When only the plush fleece covered your body, the heat radiated less. But the fluttering of the blanket caused Buckyâs cologne to waft your way. A pleasant scent of musky woodiness with a hint of something that was entirely him. You gripped the cover tightly and counted to ten in your head. You were going mad.Â
â Would you stop hogging the blanket? â Bucky muttered from beside you. There were a lot of things he wanted to tell you to stop doing. Because you and your constant fidgeting were driving him crazy. Every fiber of his being holding back from doing something to snap that rope.Â
You didnât realize you had been pulling it your way until he mentioned it. Your grip on it loosened,â Sorry. I wasnât hogging it though,â you argued for no reason other than to fill the silence.Â
â Yes, you were.âÂ
â No, I wasnât.âÂ
There was something about the proximity of your bodies that made the blanket seem smaller. Like there was no possible way it could equally cover both of your sleeping forms. Maybe this is what caused you to then tug at it, however, he holds it firmly to himself too. Â
Persistently you pull at the blanket again. He pulls backâa tug of war ensues between you. You can hear him huff in the darkness, but you're not letting up. Bucky couldn't care less about the blanket. He only cared about not letting you get the upper hand. His competitive streak showing. Â
While you solely really didnât want to let him win.Â
You wrap the end of the blanket around yourselfâalmost like a cacoon. The delicate fleece encases you. Leaving the bare minimum amount for Bucky to cover himself with.Â
â You have got to be one of the most stubborn people I have ever met in my goddamn life,â he practically growls as he yanks forcefully on the blanket. A tiny yelp escapes you as you get pulled along with it.Â
You underestimated the strength of the star pitcher.Â
You end up on top of him. The blanket now an extra cushy barrier between your bodies. In the dim light, your eyes lock, and you can faintly see the outline of a boyish grin on his face. You donât move away. Thereâs like an invisible force that keeps you there. Your body pressed against his feeling his warmth tenfold. You canât tell if either of you are breathing because all you're aware of now is how his heart beats in time with yours.Â
â Youâre insufferable you know that?â you swallow hard, your voice lacking its usual bite.
â You sure about that, sweetheart?â he challenges, his voice barely above a whisper. His lips brushing against yours with feather-light contact.
When had your lips gotten so close?Â
You donât know who leans in first. The one who finally breaks the standoff because your lips seem to meet at the same time. The kiss is sweet, but with a slight hesitance to it. As if neither of you are completely sure the other wants this. Or more like neither of you believes this is happening. However, when his hands grip the back of your thighs, sliding your legs from on top of him to his sides so you straddle himâyou believe it. And when your hands find themselves threading in his hairâhe believes it.Â
One kiss that tests the waters turns into one that slowly sinks into the feeling. Until the two of you fully submerge into the depths of whatever has been simmering between you for what seems like too long. Delicate kisses that get more heatedâmore intense as your lips continue to meet. Bucky beams at the fact that youâre no longer pushing, but pulling into him. His craving for you only increasing now that heâs had a taste.Â
His tongue swipes across your bottom lip, slow and gentle. Asking for permission to deepen the kiss. Bucky Barnes isnât the type to be slow and gentleâbut when it comes to you he finds himself wanting to relish every second he gets. Not knowing when heâll get another moment like this with you again.Â
Your lips part enough for him to slip his tongue in to truly kiss you like he wanted to. As soon as you grant access he takes full opportunity to explore every corner of your mouth. His tongue molding with yours in fervor. Your fingers lightly tug at his hair while his hands roam your body memorizing every curve and dip. Wherever he gripped and caressed, his touch left heat in its wake.Â
A heat you had to contain before it consumed you both.Â
â If you think youâre getting lucky tonightâthink again. This is the most youâll get,â You say breathlessly, pulling away to help your lungs remember what oxygen is.Â
He groans, breath panting, the outline of his pout evident in the dim light,â Donât do this to me, sweetheart. Canât leave me like this.â His voice a desperate whine that allured you to keep going.Â
â Too bad. You're dreaming if you think this is going any further.âÂ
â God, you donât wanna know what I've dreamed about.âÂ
â Shut up,â you cut off his groan with another kiss. Fierce enough to silence him immediately. He hopes you shut him up like this more often.Â
Your lips meet again in a hasty lock. No hesitation now as your tongues meet quicker. You seem to be obsessed with his hair as you run your fingers through it again. He shivers at the touch. His hands slide under your sweater to trail along your soft skin. Keeping his hands along your back and waist. Teetering around the boundary you drew, so he didnât get carried away. But it was hard when kissing you felt as good as throwing the perfect gameâmaybe even better.
He realizes the emotions you bring out of him are worth a lifetime waiting for.
He pulls away this time to catch his breath, his hands sliding up your body to cup your face,â Iâm in no rush, sweetheart. Iâve got all the time in the world to take it all the wayâmake you fall for me.âÂ
You hum, leaning into his touch,â You seem sure of yourself. â
His voice is rough yet affectionate when he speaks,â Iâm sure of you, sweetheart. Youâre worth every second, and Iâm not stopping until you see it too.âÂ
He gives you one final tender kiss. One that's full of promise for the future. You werenât sure if it was his words or the meaning in the kiss that stole your breath away.Â
After a few seconds, you both pull away. Separating your bodies from each other to provide that much-needed space before lines were crossed.
â Goodnight, Bucky,â you say, staring up at the ceiling, wondering how you would keep your hands and lips to yourself come tomorrow. Buckyâs heart skipped a beat when you called him by his nickname. Bringing a genuine smile to his face, loving the way it sounded coming from you.Â
â Goodnight, Y/n.â
Even after saying goodnight, the two of you canât fall asleep immediately. You try to, but there are small moments in the night where you drift back to each other. Where in the darkness your lips meet again and againâsatiating the tension in parts. Where your hands find themselves under the covers and layers of clothing. Flaming the fans of desire just enough so it doesnât completely burn out, but smoldering to be reignited at any momentâs chance.Â
You donât realize when you fall asleep. Your eyelids growing heavy at some point tangled up in his body under the covers. Your face in the crook of his neck. His head resting on top of yours. Your bodies fit like puzzle pieces like they were meant to be connected in every way.Â
Itâs not until that morning when you wake up and find yourself in his arms, snuggled into his side, that the events of last night sink in. You pull away the tiniest bit. Merely enough to be able to get a look at him. The brown strands of his hair tousled and clinging to his forehead. The slope of his nose, his dark lashes fanned delicately against his skin, and the tiniest parting of his lips. He looks peacefulâalmost angelic as he slumbers.Â
Youâre itching to sketch the image in front of you.Â
You canât stop yourself from reaching out to touch the strands at his forehead. Itâs enough to have his eyes flutter open, their color brighter in the daylight. He gives you a lazy smile the instant he realizes last night wasnât a dream and you really were here, nestled in his arms.Â
No words were exchanged, but both of you were conscious of the line you had drawn last night. And yet, you both also knew that in time, that line would be crossed again and again. Until the line blurred into oblivion.

riddle's girl - mattheo riddle
summary: mattheo hasâŠfeelings about you wearing his quidditch jersey
word count: 2.5k
a/n: just more fluffy sweetness! in my mind this takes place shortly after cold comfort, but they're really unrelated so this can be read as a standalone! âĄ
There weren't a lot of things Mattheo liked about being a prefect. He had no interest in being the Slytherin house snitch, in shutting down parties or telling kids they couldn't smoke in the bathroom. So, he didn't do any of it; he threw parties, stole their joints and dared anyone to tell him he couldn't do otherwise.
There weren't many people willing to stand up to the Dark Lord's son, and those that were were pulling the same shit right alongside him. So, he did none of the work but got all of the perks, up to and including having his own room, which, once he started dating you turned out to be just about his favorite thing in the world, and, also, a necessity if the rest of the castle didn't want to be up listening to the two of you at all hours of the night... and morning... and afternoon.
He smirked as he hurried through the halls, eager to get to you, knowing you would be in his room now waiting for him. It was a few hours before his first quidditch match of the year and you were his good luck charm, a necessary part of his pre-match routine.
As he whispered the password to the entrance of his room, he could hear your music playing as you sang along softly to it, probably Taylor Swift, which he'd tell you to turn off but now so closely associated with you that he found himself listening to her even when you weren't around (though he'd deny it to anyone that asked).
He smiled as he walked through the door and took in the sight in front of him: there were little parts of you scattered all over the room, which felt just as much yours as it was his; stacks of your books and a flickering candle took over his bookshelf, a bra and an unkempt pile of clothes on his chair, and you were seated at his desk which you had taken over completely to do your makeup, leaning into a small mirror applying mascara before you caught his eye and turned to face him excitedly.
"Hi!" you said, even more bubbly than usual as you popped up and walked over to him, nearly throwing yourself into his arms as he caught your lips with his own and pulled you into him.
"Mmpf!" you mumbled against his lips in surprise before pulling away. "Wait, wait wait, what do you think?" you said, stepping back to show him your outfit with your arms extended even as he made grabby hands trying to pull you back.
You were in one of his team-issued quidditch jerseys; it engulfed you, coming to the midpoint of your thighs which were bare, the sight an absolute vision that had every part of him twitching to toss you onto the bed.
"Fucking hot" he said with a smirk, his brown eyes wide and twinkling. "Maybe put some pants on before you go, but that sounds like a problem for later us."
"Matty!" you laughed, smacking his arm to scold him before you turned to give him the 360-degree view.
You paused with your back to him, pulling your hair to the side and looking over your shoulder at him... and he swore his heart stopped beating in his chest as he fully registered the sight in front of him: You. Wearing his last name. "Riddle" prominently spelled out on the back of the jersey.
His eyebrows drew together and he brought his hand to his chest, subconsciously resting on his heart, a look of discomfort on his face that immediately had you turning back to him.
"Ohâare youâ is this okay?" you asked.
It was tradition for girlfriends to wear their boyfriends' jerseys the first match of the year, but you two had barely just started dating and you had never talked about this; he truthfully didn't seem into this kind of thing and now you were worried you'd taken things too far.
Mattheo still hadn't said anything, still had trouble catching his breath. Conceptually he understood it was just you in his jersey, but you wearing his last name like that had shifted something inside him. YN Riddle, YN Riddle was all he could think in his head, how much he liked the sound of it, and what that meant... he was a fucking goner for you. You had turned his life on its head in the short period of time you two had been dating and he had no intention of scaring you away with the idea of marriage months into a relationship - what the hell was the matter with him??
...And who says you'd even want to marry him or take his name for that matter? No one in their right mind would want to marry into his family or take a name that was spoken like a curse. He thought of the way people spit it out of their mouths, like they hated the very taste of it on their tongue. He couldn't, wouldn't do that to you, realizing finally that what he was looking at in front of him was a mirage at best, a nightmare at worst. The whole situation and the frustration of it all made him furious.
You were looking at him with a puzzled expression on your face and he realized you'd asked him something.
"It's...I don't know..." he mumbled, his head still whirling.
"You don't...know?" About us? you thought.
"I...don't know... it's...." he was trying to come up with the words to say but kept getting angrier and angrier. "Fucking hell" he muttered, rubbing his hands over his face. And now you were certain you'd overdone it and put too much pressure on your relationship.
"It's fine, I'll take it off, I don't have to wear it" you said, turning to look for your discarded clothes as much to hide the tears in your eyes. You pulled your jeans on, pulled the jersey off and covered yourself with your sweater before he could register what was happening. He could sense the swift change in your mood but was still trying so hard to figure out his own feelings he was struggling to keep up.
"If you want to, you canâ"
"âIt's fine" you replied quickly, your voice wobbling. You were grabbing your things and walking out and Mattheo couldn't fathom what he had done wrong other than dream of a world where you could have his last name.
"Good luck" you said, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips as you left.
What the fuck just happened he thought.
The wind whipped wildly through Mattheo's curls and he bobbed on his broom against the gusts, his eyes never leaving your seat in the stands no matter where he flew. The game whizzed around him and he was doing the bare minimum to contribute, his mind unable to focus on anything but your earlier conversation.
He had tried to catch your eye a few times but you seemed intent on avoiding his gaze, intent on focusing on the people around you and when you turned to talk to the girl behind you and he saw Malfoy's name on your back he nearly lost his grip and slipped off his broom.
Draco was like a brother to you, and you were seated next to his girlfriend Pansy in her own matching jersey, so it wasn't jealousy that reared its ugly head, but something much deeper, something possessive that simmered inside of him. That should be my name he thought as he gripped his broom so hard his knuckles turned white. She's fucking mine.
"Get your damn head in the game will you?" a teammate shouted as they flew by. But now the chances of that happening were even slimmer. You. His girlfriend. Wearing Malfoy's fucking name.
Mattheo seemed...off.
He was missing passes, dropping the quaffle, just generally out of it, which was completely uncharacteristic for one of Slytherin's star players. You didn't know for sure, but you couldn't help but feel like you were a contributing factor, that the conversation you'd had... or didn't really have earlier was to blame. You twiddled the rings on your fingers with anxiety and you began to feel guilt welling up when Mattheo suddenly dropped out of play, beelining towards the coaches and team staff gathered on the grass of the pitch.
"What the hell is he doing now?" Pansy huffed.
Mattheo was off his broom and storming towards a group of third years that helped the team by washing jerseys and mending brooms, and he grabbed one of them by the front of the robes so hard he nearly pulled him off his feet. He was shouting at him, telling him something, and the kid looked like he wanted to cry. He was nodding violently with every sentence Mattheo said before Mattheo turned and pointed to you.
At this point the entire stadium was murmuring and it had nothing to do with the game. People loved to watch Mattheo play on a regular day and now whispers were flying faster than broomsticks at the scene unfolding in front of the entire school.
The kid gave one last violent nod before running at a full sprint up into the stands, back towards the castle and Mattheo was back on his broom to a cacophony of cheers as he flew past you.
Your cheeks were flushed cherry red at the thought that he had stopped in the middle of his game to talk about you... surely that wasn't the case. Was it? The box around you was full of excited whispers and Pansy nudged you conspiratorially with raised eyebrows.
"I have no idea what's going" you hissed back, in an effort to keep things quiet.
Not ten minutes later, the whispers around you turned to murmurs again that got louder and louder until you turned to see the third year from earlier, nearly purple in the face from exertion tripping over himself and the people around him.
"M'looking for YN, YN, Riddle's girl?"
Riddle's girl.
The jersey on your back hadn't fooled a soul, they all pointed to you. He nearly collapsed at your feet, as he held up his hand, Mattheo's jersey fisted in his fingers as he huffed and puffed.
"MaâMattheoâMattheo wants you to wear this. P-Please. Please put it on. Idon'twanthimtokillme, he said he would kill me if you didn't, I-I really think he meant it" he said through gasping breaths as his eyes watered.
Your hand covered your mouth to hide your smile.
"He is not going to kill you" you said reassuringly, as you let out a small laugh, the big bad Mattheo everyone was so afraid of so different than the boy you knew so well.
"But c-can you please put it on. Please. Just to be sure?" he whimpered.
You thought about his words as you ran your finger over the fabric of Mattheo's name. 'Mattheo wants you to wear this.' He had stopped in the middle of his match to make a kid go get it, you weren't going to say no. You pulled it on over your sweater, enjoying the lingering smell of him that now engulfed you as you blushed to yourself.
Mattheo was watching out of the corner of his eye as he dodged a bludger, and when he turned to see you wearing his name, a soft smile on your lips, he felt a calm settle over him, as something warm settled in his chest. Pride he realized after a moment. Pride for his last name, and pride for you in it.
Mattheo had turned the tide of the game scoring three goals and leading Slytherin to a victory. The crowd was buzzing with excitement as you bustled your way towards the locker room to wait for him. You could hear the team chanting and singing in celebration and you were ready to wait a long time for him to finally break away from his friends, but it was only minutes before he pushed through the door.
The crowd that had gathered cheered for him but he didn't respond, his eyes scanning the horde before they landed on you. He shoved a few people out of the way before the rest cleared a path for him and when he was finally in front of you, you couldn't help but glow at him, proud of the way he played and warm and fuzzy inside at all that he'd done for you.
"Babeâ!" you started as he smiled at you, and then he grasped your face in his hands and pressed a kiss to your lips inciting a loud round of shouts and cheers around you. He smelled like wet leather from his gloves, grass, dirt and sweat and yet it was intoxicating to you, because it was him. He let go of you only briefly enough to flip your onlookers the middle finger before he guided you quickly away from prying eyes.
"C'mon" he said.
"Oh! Okayâbye, Pansy" you said, waving at her as she winked at you.
Mattheo held you firmly at a fast pace until you were away from the crowd.
"Hey-hey slow down!" you said, pulling him to a stop. "...Thank you for that." Your eyes were wide and warm as they looked up at him. "I know it's silly, and maybe it felt a little too fast or too serious or something" you said, your words flying out as you tried to explain it. "I justâit'sâI'm yours and I want people to know that. I'm proud of it."
He cleared his throat and looked around, trying to rearrange his face so as not to show the emotion that was welling up inside of him. Proud. You were proud. Of him, to be his. He looked back at you glowing up at him like a godsdamn angel and wondered what the fuck he ever did to deserve you.
"Told you it looked good on you" is all he could manage at first, and a warm smile lit your face, but you waited patiently, knowing there was more, knowing just how much his brain tended to work in overdrive.
"Look, my name, it's not...good... it's not something to be proud of. People hate it, fuck, I hate itâ" he said as he ran his hand through his hair and avoided your gaze, never having come close to saying anything like this out loud before. He swallowed before he felt your hand slip into his and looked down at you. "âBut seeing you in it?... I don't know... made me think...maybe it doesn't always have to be that way..."
Now you were trying to rearrange your face, biting your bottom lip as you looked at him, tears brimming your eyes.
He searched your expression desperately, were those good tears, sad tears?
You slid your arms around him and hugged him to you, pressing your body against his and he relaxed into your arms.
"So, yeah, it's yours if you want it" he said, as he nuzzled into you, referring to the jersey, and his last name too...one day.
"Of course I do" you said adamantly.
He pulled back and captured your lips in his, kissing you deeply, passionately, sending your heart aflutter in your chest.
"Now I think you owe me my favorite part of my pre-match routine, Riddle" he whispered against your lips.
"Gladly" you whispered back against his lips.
