Yusuke watched them leave the room, remaining still for a moment longer before slowly lying down on the bed. Pulling the blanket up a little to cover more of his upper body, he actually forgot that he was on Goro's bed. It wouldnt most likely be a little embarrassing in the morning, but for now all he could focus on was the sweet smell and the soft blanket.
Pulling the little pillow back against his chest, he found himself nuzzling his face into it. It was so nice... So soft and just...just comforting... The boy let out a soft little yawn, his eyelids already heavy. He may not want to admit to it, but he was truly exhausted. Although that likely wasn't a surprise to anyone, seeing as he had to be carried up the steps to get this far.
He had probably only been alone for less than a couple minutes before the artist drifted off into a surprisingly sound sleep. His breathing was slow and deep, a nice change from the gasps that he had seemed to make all day. His blue hair was messy, thrown over the pillow with little care. He hadn't been focused on anything aside from her and sleep...

“It’s crying!” Lena and Dewey on babysitting duty
"It's crying!" Dewey pointed at Selena in her crib. "Well no duh. Pick her up," Lena rolled her eyes and continued reading her book. "Pick her up-??? What if I drop her or something? Why cant you do it?" Dewey asked. Lena sighed and set down the book. "You know, when you took this gig you sounded really confident in your abilities. It'd be a shame if Webby and Louie found out you did absolutely nothing all night," Lena crossed her arms. "I-I uh... Well... Cant you do something to make her be quiet with that magic of yours before she drives us insane?" Dewey asked. "Absolutely not. Magic is not used on a child. Ever," Lena snapped, making Dewey step back. "Woah... Touched a nerve there," Dewey raised his hands in defense. Lena groaned. "Step aside," she passed him away from the crib and picked up the sobbing duckling and placed her on her shoulder. "Hey there little Lena number two, its okay. Auntie is here for you," Lena sat herself in the rocking chair and patted the child's back in a fluid motion. Dewey sat on the ground and picked at the carpet. "Its okay, its okay," Lena kept repeating and started rocking in the chair. "Does repeating the same stupid phrase actually do anything?" Dewey asked. Lena glared. "Auntie is here, even if your uncle is a stupid oaf," Lena smiled smugly as Selena stopped crying."I am not an oaf," Dewey huffed. "Sure," Lena moved the child onto her lap and Selena looked up at her in wonder. "Hi," Lena smiled crookedly at her. Selena laughed. "That is the most precious sound I have ever heard," Dewey scrambled over to the chair, "how'd you get her to do that?""Dunno, get out of her face," Lena said. Dewey huffed and moved aside. "You know, I have babysat before," Dewey stated. "With your older brother's help," Lena pointed out. "Yes... But I'm sure I could've handled it on my own," Dewey said. "Doubtful. Dewey, were you even aware of what just happened? You were just freaking out over her crying," Lena raised an eyebrow as Selena made a small noise and leaned forward in Lena's lap. "Yeah, so? If I were alone I'd be able to eventually make her stop," Dewey crossed his arms. "Uh huh. That would totally happen," Lena said with heavy sarcasm, "you totally would not have called Huey within the first ten seconds of her crying.""Hey! Huey has his own kid to deal with now, I know boundaries and stuff," Dewey said. "Okay fine. You'd call that uncle of yours in ten seconds," Lena smirked. Dewey glared silently as Selena made another noise and put a hand on Lena's chest. "Oh my word, her hands are so tiny," Lena touched it, which made the duckling wrap her hand around her finger. "Awwwww," Dewey admired. "Okay, that's it. I love this child now," Lena nodded defiantly. Dewey laughed. Lena picked her up and raised her in the air, which also made her laugh. "Dude, you might drop her," Dewey said. Lena ignored him and kept raising her up and down, and Selena kept laughing. "Someone's jealous," Lena commented inbetween lifts. "Har har," Dewey rolled his eyes. "Fine, I'll stop," Lena stopped and raised Selena enough so they were eye to eye. Suddenly, it was like a staring contest had begun and Lena locked eyes with her and didn't blink. Selena giggled and lightly slapped her in the face, which made Lena laugh as well."I want to hold her," Dewey complained. "Oh hush, you get enough attention," Lena hugged the small child when suddenly Selena placed her hand on her choker's amulet and suddenly start glowlying. Lena quickly pushed her away, nearly dropping her. "Take her," Lena commanded. Dewey nodded and took Selena out of Lena's arms. Selena started crying again. "What was that?" Dewey put her on his shoulder, as Lena had before. "She touched my amulet and well uh... Glowed. I dunno," Lena stood up, "all I know is I can't hold her with it on.""Can't you take it off?" Dewey asked. "No. I have to keep it on at all times. Its like your uncle Moneybags number one dime. It isn't to leave me so long as I'm alive," Lena stated bluntly. Dewey sighed. "This kid isn't going to shut up is she" Dewey groaned as Selena wailed on. "Not with that attitude. I'll be back," Lena slipped out of the room. Waves of childhood memories she had tried to forget came crashing down on her. Images of her aunt int he shadows and her own parents tormenting her with magic made her shudder. A thought occured in her mind that made her shake. What if she turned out just like them? No, she shook her head. She couldn't think like that right now. She had to tell Webby something happened. Quickly, Lena fumbled into the kitchen and got out her phone from her bag. She turned it on and texted Webby. "Hey, no need to stress, nothing is wrong. Selena accidentally touched my amulet though, and it looks like she'd be good at magic haha" Hopefully the tone sounded lighthearted enough and not like Lena was on the brink of panicking. Webby would probably actually see it as a good or cool thing come to think of it. Bah, Lena would make her understand. Magic was dangerous and it hurts more than anything. Nothing feels worse than doing something wrong and suddenly you feel a thousand needles on your skin. Lena shuddered as the same thought rang through her head, but Lena shook her head. No she would not be like her parents or her aunt. She'd be better. She would be more caring, graceful, and more loving than they'd ever be. Lena nodded to herself and started heading back to the nursery. Lena reentered the nursery and found Selena was still crying, despite Dewey's best efforts. "I swear she hates me," Dewey complained. Lena sighed. "I don't know what to do. A child should not be playing with magic like this and I can't take it off," Lena sighed. "Twist it around so she can't touch it. I don't caaareeee she needs to sleeeeeep," Dewey groaned. "Oh," Lena hadn't thought of that. She twisted around the choker so the gem faced the other way and took Selena out of her uncle's arms. "There you go little Lena," she made Dewey get up from the rocker and sat down, "its okay. You're safe. I'm not gonna let you feel scared or tired anymore. Its okay. I'm here. Get some rest. You're tired. Its okay," Lena cradled her and spoke soothingly. Dewey rubbed his eyes and tried his best to mentally take notes of every little thing she did. Selena stopped her wails and closed her eyes. "You are truly magical," Dewey said. "Of course I am," Lena stated like she hadn't just almost had a mental breakdown of panic and nervousness of her becoming like her own family. What does Dewey know anyway? "Louie and Webby should be back soon. Should we set her down in her crib and pretend like we put her to sleep and she's been sleeping for hours because we're just that great?" Dewey schemed. "No," Lena internally face palmed and continued to rock. "Ugh, fine," he huffed when suddenly they could hear the distant creaking of the garage door. "Back already?" Dewey raised an eyebrow. "Could be possible," Lena now wondered the possibility if she had made Webby freak out over the text. Either way, she'd find out. There was a soft knock on the door."Hellooooo?" someone whispered through the door. "She's sleeping," Dewey whispered back. The door creaked open to reveal both Louie and Webby. "Wow, she's in one piece. I almost didn't think that'd happen," Louie joked. "Ha ha," Lena rolled her eyes. "Awwww, look how cute you two are," Webby adored. Lena chuckled. "Yeah, she liked me and hates him," Lena gestured at Dewey, who grunted. "Ooh, that's rough," Louie patted his brother's back with a chuckle. Dewey grunted again. "Anyway I should uh..." Lena got up and carefully set Selena down in her crib and pulled a blanket over her. "Why is your amulet on backward?" Louie asked. Lena froze. "Lets talk outside," Webby said. The three other adults nodded and they all walked out quietly. "So..." Webby shut the door. "Look, it was an accident," Lena said. "What was?" Louie stepped forward, looking concerned and aggravated. Clearly, it had not been a relaxed date night for the couple. Greaaaat. "Look, I was holding Selena and she just grabbed my amulet and started glowing. I'm sorry I-" "What? How?" Louie glared."Dude, get off her case. It was an accident," Dewey, oddly enough, defended Lena."I was hugging her and she grabbed diet cause it's shiny. Sorry, your highness," Lena rolled her eyes and looked at the floor. "Look, everything is fine. We're fine. She's fine. We are all... Fine," Webby stepped inebetween the two so they wouldn't fight. "Fine," Louie grunted and took his eyes off of Lena. "Good... Now, it looks like we could all use some rest, so how about that? Call it a night?" Webby asked, trying to sound cheerful."Yeah, I'm out," Louie turned away and disappeared into the master bedroom. "Yeah, me too. I got something with Scrooge tomorrow," Dewey pointed at the door. "See ya," Webby finger gunned."See ya," Dewey chuckled and left out the front door. "So... Was she powerful?" Webby asked. "What?" Lena raised an eyebrow. "Was she strong?" she asked again. "Ooh, you mean- Webby, Look," Lena put a hand on her own forehead, "I just... Yes, but that's not exactly a good thing. Young kids and magic don't mix. I really shouldn't be around her until she's able to be taught right from wrong," Lena said. "Oh..." Webby sighed, "I... Guess... But... Weren't you fine just then?" "Maybe... I dunno... I'm not- I-its not safe around her with the amulet," Lena quickly corrected herself. "Maybe... I dunno... How about we try again in a few weeks, and see what happens?" Webby suggested. Lena hesitantly nodded. "I... Guess," Lena shrugged. "C'mon, you know you can't stay away from that cutie for too long," Webby joked. "Ha ha ha," Lena chuckled. "I am serious though. You two have a good connection. Its nice to see. Its similar to her and Lou. Its real, and you know it," Webby lightly poked her shoulder. "Alright alright. I get it," Lena rolled her eyes, "I'll be back.""Good," Webby yawned. "Looks like you should get some rest," Lena smirked. "Yeah I'm tired," she admitted. "Alright then, goodnight to you," Lena pushed her toward her room. "You too Lena," Webby smiled tiredly, "and thanks," she saluted before disappearing behind the door. "Right..." Lena said and let herself out through the garage.

Not Quite Valhalla - #2
A Midgardian woman appears in Loki’s cell without any knowledge about herself. The two annoy each other as the woman tries to find out who she is, while Loki wonders why he’s been subjected to this maddening creature.
Chapter One
@timesarehardformarvellovers
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter two
-?-
The nameless woman held on to the threads that kept herself together with dear life. Stay calm. Be cool. They observed her, anticipating the perfect dramatic breakdown. A rain of tears. Agonising screaming. Another desperate attempt to escape. She would’ve give them that joy. Whatever drug they’d injected, it should wear off soon. She’d remember… everything. With the initial jolt of panic and fear subsided, a soft bubbling shame originated in the pit of her stomach. This near-breakdown had been pitiful. She had to keep herself together. If they thought they were getting to her, they wouldn’t let her out at all. The stranger hadn’t looked at her for a while. Earlier, she had felt his cruel green eyes glance at her. Now, the stranger lay on his back with his eyes closed. How dare he relax while she didn’t even know her name? After rising from the floor, she crept up to his bed. ‘Are you trying to sleep?’ she enquired, unnecessarily so. ‘I don’t think I can sleep…’ she then complained, putting a lot of effort in her whiny tone. People tend to dislike whiny voices. ‘I am soooooo, tired, but can’t sleeeeeep.’ The man’s chest rose up, and sank down again. Only after all the air had passed through his nose, the green of his eyes were revealed. ‘I certainly can, so if you’ll excuse me…’ he closed his eyes again, though his shoulders were hunched more than before. She envied him. She longed to roll up and fall asleep on these white floors, but she couldn’t. Both because that meant she had to let her guard down and because she somehow knew she simply had lost the ability to sleep. Perhaps it was the drugs that stopped her. Especially made to keep her up. She walked closer and bent down, her face only a few inches away from his. ‘Are you asleep yet?’ she breathed. He winced and groaned. ‘Almost. Now get away!’ ‘Or else?’ she asked joyfully. ‘You can’t touch me, so what you gonna do?’ ‘I might curse you,’ the man growled, his eyelids still shut. His strong jaw moved as he clenched his teeth together. ‘Right,’ she scoffed with annoyed mock, ‘magic. That’s what we were missing. Isn’t this just perfect?’ It wasn’t. Usually, filmmakers have to chose: sci-fi or fantasy. Only the greatest could bring them together. And this man definitely wasn’t part of the greatest. Though the strange attire he wore, which didn’t belong in modern times, were of great quality, a lot better than the average cossplayer. Better even than most tv-shows and even some not quite low, but also not quite high budget films. However, that shouldn’t be a surprise. People who could create such realistic holograms could ship up period clothing like it was nothing
-L-
The annoyance sounded so genuine, Loki opened his eyelids to observe his “guest”. The woman was leaning back with her arms crossed across her chest, so tight the green clover on her shirt was entirely deformed. A fear suppressing anger was written across her face. If this indeed was a trick by Odin and she was in on it, she would be an amazing actress. What did it matter if she was part of it? Best let it be - then it would hopefully be over soon, and he could go back to his dull, empty life. ‘I am in no mood to convince some unbelieving human there is more to existence than what they have seen.’ ‘Unbelieving human?’ she repeated indignantly. ‘And what are you supposed to be? God?’ How Loki wished he could shut his ears as he could his eyes, draining out the sound of this exhausting creature. Sadly, digging his fingers into his tired ears would be disgraceful and cost him the last threads of dignify he still owed. ‘I have been thought of as one, actually. Even though the Allfather seems to believe only he deserves the title.’ Just like he could visit nine realms and claim the highest power without ever being convicted for it, or even hated. ‘In short, this is actually a madhouse?’ The woman huffed. ‘Great. Then what am I doing here?’ Loki felt like he could start screaming any second; his patience hadn’t been tested like this in a long time. Usually it was Thor with his impulsive decisions who drove him mad. ‘If you do not want to believe the truth, so be it. But for Valhalla’s sake, let me sleep!’ The woman took a step forwards. ‘Don’t think so. Not until you prove it - or start telling me the truth. Whichever one you prefer’. She rose her eyebrows and watched as Loki realised she meant it. ‘Why are humans so insufferably irritating?’ Loki exclaimed, opening his eyes, getting up and looking at her aggravatedly. ‘When living among so many assholes, you learn to use your voice.’ ‘Humans do not learn,’ Loki smirked. ‘Have you never realised your history repeats itself. You are running in circles, trying to find a saviour who can lead you away from this fate…’ his voice trailed off at the end of the sentence. For a moment he found himself lost in time. Images of the past jostled each other to make themselves known to him. Loki had to push them away. The woman rolled her eyes. ‘Just show me some “magic”.’ With another sigh, Loki flicked his wrist. Out of nowhere a black falcon appeared, swooping down, claws extended at the woman’s face. She shrieked and threw herself to the ground. The bird flew one perfect circle before positioning itself on Loki’s shoulder, who wore a wide grin. ‘Funny,’ the woman huffed, pushing herself off the floor. Her red curls covered half of her face. ‘Did you summon it?’ ‘No,’ Loki reached for the bird on his shoulder, as if to caressits smooth, feathered head. It disappeared at his touch, likeeverything else in his life seemed to do. ‘It’s an illusion.’
-?-
With a feeling like a racing heart - though in a weird way, like it wasn’t actually there - the woman studied the stranger. His tall form standing straight, an air of smugness around him. However, it wasn’t the smugness of someone in the midst of an elaborate prank to make her, a nobody, believe in magic with some fancy computer generated projections or other visual tricks of the mechanical sort. Besides, if she truly thought about her situation and concentrated on her body, she felt there was something off. Something that had nothing to do with drugs. However, as she watched the stranger give her that cocky look, she couldn’t stand the idea of him feeling good about himself at her expense. ‘Then why did you think I was an illusion,’ the woman wondered. ‘I didn’t disappear when I tried to touch you.’ For a moment the man seemed stunned. Quickly, he straightened his face, his eyebrows lowering from their arched position. ‘That is actually a very clever notion. For a human.’ ‘Thank you.’ She curtsied. Being clever returned some of the control over the situation back to her. ‘Can you do more?’ ‘I have some telekinetic abilities, and I can change into a frost giant, if you want,’ he dared her. ‘A frost giant, Really?’ she raised an eyebrow. ‘Does that mean you become incredibly big?’ The man frowned with pursed lips. ‘Why, of course not!’ She snickered. ‘Sorry if I hurt your pride, small giant.’ He glared at her as if he wanted nothing more than to strangle her. ‘You humans are even more foolish than I thought. The name is Loki. Not-’ his lips curled up, ‘”small giant”.’ ‘Loki, huh? It appears you’ve met more of us.’ ‘Some of the “best”-’ again he gave that dirty look, ‘of your kind, I was told.’ She studied him more carefully. Underneath that demeanour of rage and distrust seemed to be a deeper layer. He’d been hurt, disappointed. Let down, possibly humiliated. In any case, his pride had been hurt, very, very badly. ‘I gather you don’t think much of us, do you?’ ‘Not particularly.’ The man- Loki- stated it as a simple facet, as if it was logical. In his mind it must be. He thought himself to be a god, someone high above all other creatures. How couldn’t he, if he could summon such lifelike images? Yet, if he was speaking the truth, he was as stuck inside this oblivious white room, with which he made a stark contrast in his dark garbs and with his raven hair, as she was. ‘But then,’ she smiled, ‘you don’t seem to be fond of anyone. I won’t take it personally.’
-L-
Loki stared at this creature, so undisturbed by all he had shown and told her. Not only was she undisturbed, she also mocked him, laughed at him. Well, he’d gotten used to that, through the years. People liked to mock the misfit, and a misfit he was; always different from the big, bulky, combat-loving Asgardians around him. But his woman… ‘How sad I am to hear that,’ Loki replied, having collected himself, and in a more gracious, airy manner. ‘Consider taking it as I meant, oblivious human.’ With that, he sank back down, gathering the book. He pretended to be absorbed in the pages. Actually, his thoughts were crossing the galaxy, towards that blue and green planet he had briefly visited. How had he not won? How could he be beaten by such dull creatures? Then he remembered: Thor had betrayed him. Thor, who he had thought to be his own brother, had turned on him. He had sided with humans he hadn’t even known, chosen strangers above his own family. Or he didn’t count as family anymore since the truth had come into the light. Loki glanced up. The woman sat against the wall, her strange eyes staring into empty space. Her hair glimmered like rubies in the pale light. Yes, Loki thought. Annoying, dull creatures.

Comic Girls - Episode 04
Anime time is now. It’s Comic Girls, episode 04! Here we GO!
-It is night, it is raining. Koyume is out like a light with particularly few fucks to give, when Kaos…Well I’m assuming she has to go take a piss, but the important thing is she finds Ruki still working and pulling an all-nighter. The next morning, every…one’s…up? Well, three of our four are sparky and spunky. Ruki, despite Kaos’s thirst, is looking more like she just ran a marathon with a hangover. Also Kaos said the quiet things loud again.
-Opening!
-To school! Where Ruki is…Oh, dear, she is not looking good. Apparently she pulled two all nighters, in a row. I’m assuming she had to get some sleep in there somewhere, because I’ve seen people on their third day and that’s usually when the hallucinations start…But I’m also assuming it was nowhere near enough sleep. And then she gets summoned to translate the line on the board, ‘Can I come over to your house tonight’. Which, sleepy Ruki says in a way that literally all of the girls in class suddenly have lilies blooming. Literally. All of them.
-Kaos is right. That is terrifying power.
-Gym class. Sleepy Ruki is tying up her hair and her sleepy eyes are looking like bedroom eyes and Ruki please stop turning your classmates gay. It’s causing a ruckus.
-…God dammit Ruki. Just…God dammit, Ruki. She refused to go home, went on the run for gym class, collapsed onto another girl, it looks really lewd, everyone’s staring and blushing, what did I just say about a ruckus. Even the teacher is calling her out for this, and Kaos can’t stop staring. Even Tsubasa is starting to think she needs to go fucking sleep. And I’m starting to think my assumption that she couldn’t possibly be on her third day without any sleep was…incorrect.
-But Ruki has all of this fucking pride wrapped up in refusing to Give In and oh my god go to bed. I’m not even going to touch her deeply erroneous belief that she’s not suited to lewd manga because I mean come on.
-Okay, lunch time. Eat a little food, then lay your head in Koyume’s lap and sleeeeeep. Even a little cat nap. One problem: Ruki can’t sleep without her favorite plushy. That is ADORABLE. But okay, how do they get he—
-Here hold this Kaos. It’s basically the same thing. …And holy shit it works as Ruki just falls right asleep.
-Back to the dorm! Ruki has enough sleep to at least pretend to be a human being and not some malfunctioning lesbianism-field-generator, and is grinding away at her manuscript…When Koyume and Kaos come to offer to help! Oh god no. No you can’t see. Don’t look at her porn drawings! Woman your work is sold in bookstores all across the country. …OH GOD YOU’RE RIGHT SHE HAS TO GO BUY THEM AND HIDE THEM AWAY
-So eventually they drag her back to her desk, and…Well, okay, real talk, if you’re that ashamed of anyone seeing your work, why are you here in this dorm? Because if her parents saw this they’d disown her. Her grandmother would die from shock! Sure there’s a certain thrill in getting away with something secret and terrible right under her family’s nose, but…Ruki now you’re saying the quiet parts loud.
-But, finally, they convince her to let them help because the other option is she literally dies from overwork at like 15. Okay. Okay here’s a page to work o—
-Koyume and Kaos can’t take it. It’s too sexy. The dialogue is so intense! Then work on these pages that are only sound effects. They are only sound effects because they are sex scenes. Please stop with the comedy reactions!
-And fine. FINE. Tsubasa gets…MEDIUM SERIOUS. She’s got on her core cosplay clothes but not the cape or eyepatch. Give her that manuscript, she’ll screen tone that dude’s dick right the fuck now! Please be at least a little embarrassed. (NO. WHICH TONE DO YOU USE ON DICKS? THE POLKA DOTS OR THE STRIPES)
-But as they work, that’s when Tsubasa notices that the protagonist looks a little like Koyume. Well, Ruki uses her as a reference model so often, some of her traits just kind of leak in…And then Koyume realizes what Tsubasa is looking at and has a panic. So that’s how she ends up having to work on the pages so her manga counterpart isn’t exposed to Tsubasa-sama…When she realizes there’s a really touching, sexy love story inside this perverse sex manga! Yes, you get it! You understand!
-Meanwhile Kaos can barely work because she’s…
-Ohhhh dear. Kaos is peering at the pages through her fingers and breathing hard. What has Ruki done to this innocent concept of a future child her parents might have one day?! I’m running out of ways to infantilize Kaos in Ruki’s mind, guys, and it’s only episode four. KAOS JUST COLOR THIS BUNNY DON’T LOOK AT THE NAUGHTY. And Tsubasa finally goes past silly SERIOUS and into full legit frustration.
-Ruki! Back to your fucking desk! Kaos! Tighten up and work you can jill off to it when it’s done! And Kaos fainted at a sex page. Great. Just…Just great.
-Eventually everyone is playing ball. Well, three of them. Kaos is going down into Despair territory, because not only is she struggling with The Sex, she is struggling with the analog tools. If she just could do this on her tab…let…That’s a computer box in the corner. Yeah, Ruki bought a computer for color work…
-Except…She’s genuinely terrible with anything more complicated than a phone and hasn’t been able to set it up because she’s never used a computer outside of class. …Please step aside and let Kaos set it up, thank you. And Ruki looks to her for advice, and…Kaos please stop lewding when there’s work to be done. But if they’re going to use this computer to speed up their work, they need more software and a scanner.
-And…Ruki’s…Woooo boy she is bad at this. Guys. Guys. Just let Kaos use the computer tonight and you can learn when you’re not on a deadline and half asleep. And indeed, Kaos just slams out a rapid-fire coloring on a scan of the splash page, complete with full color sparkle effects and god damn smug Kaos. …SO how goes the actual manuscript, ladies? DESPAIR
-New day! Ruki is with her editor, seeing the publishing of the actual tankoban of her first volume, and it’s going wonderfully! Also, they’re doing a big promo push for everything in their magazine, so could you come do an autograph signing?
-Ruki just starts screaming and can’t stop.
-And when she explains her fears back at the dorm, it’s just a lot of fear and panic and guilt…Stop. Stopppp. Your readers are almost entirely horny 20-something women, it’s gonna be fine. Yeah, you’re right, she has nothing to fear EXCEPT EVERYTHING YOU BLUE IDIOT. Those 20-something women will realize she’s a tiny teenage fraud! A bust-size-lying fraud! But that’s just a pen name…right…? Not right. Look at the self portrait she ended up submitting! …Oh.
-Oh dear. So she’s panicking and ends up clinging to Kaos as a soothing charm. Wait, what if they used Kaos as your adorable child in your arms while you signed? Yeah neither of them are down for that. New plan! Koyume, you be Big Boob <3 Himeko! Koyume couldn’t possibly SHE’S IN. Yeah she’s too eager. Much, much too eager.
-But, a stand-in…Who do they know that’s older, mature but still sexy, and knows about Ruki’s work…Landlady? Landlady. Ruki’s got to go to her and beg for help but can’t even get the words out. She’s too damn earnest and kind and wants to make a big celebration dinner with all of Ruki’s favorites.
-So as we montage through the next day, I want to point out a delightful bit of character contrast. Both Tsubasa and Ruki are tired from grinding away at manga. Ruki tries to stay awake in class but nearly fails. Tsubasa just puts on an open-eyes sleeping mask and drops right down onto her notebook with no fucks given.
-And thus they work, and grind, and enjoy the warm days of spring and summer, as everyone’s work slowly improves…And the big autograph day is coming real close. Until finally it’s the night before, and Ruki is fully hooked in at this point, and is out of ideas…As Ruki despairs, Tsubasa’s just silently working, not even responding…And that’s when Ruki remembers something important. Tsubasa’s going by a genderless pseudonym. She’s hiding herself from the world to be able to draw the manga she loves without judgment. And here Ruki was…
-…Tsubasa’s been thinking up new names for the exposed Big Boob <3 Himeko.
-You fucking ridiculous nerd. But she also admits, it’s kind of crazy, you know? Just a couple years ago, they were the ones lining up to get books signed, and now…Well, just remember how it felt back then. And you’ll be fine. Go get some rest for tomorrow.
-Big day. Ruki carefully gets ready, even as she tries to figure out what to do with her hair and how to look for this…When the landlady pulls her aside. And with another pair of hands, and a light touch of some makeup in just the right places, she transforms Ruki, bringing that touch of maturity that she needs. When it’s all done, she goes from looking 15 to looking 25, and can make this work…!
-Okay, to the actual signing! It is indeed pretty much all girls and women there, and all of them are incredibly nervous but excited, to meet the woman who draws this manga they love so much…! And it’s just an amazing, blazingly bright moment for Ruki, as she even has a young mother there who had to bring her baby to be able to make it. That’s how important Himeko-sensei…No, Himeko-onee-sama’s work is to her! And oh you just said the magic words, because Ruki immediately pops into full onee-sama mode and dammit Ruki what did I say about a ruckus.
-Indeed, what started as just a mere meet-and-greet and manga signing is soon full of tons of advice and kindness and when it’s all said and done, and when it all finally finishes up, Ruki is left with a stack of fan letters and gifts and is just…Moved to raw, genuine tears by the amount of emotion and love felt here today. It’s been a struggle. She’s had to work on healthy days and sick days, when she was grieving and when she was losing out on a normal adolescence. She’s questioned her path countless times, especially after being shunted into erotic manga instead of the cutesy animals she wanted to do…
-But…She made a difference. A real, genuine difference. She changed people’s lives for the better. She didn’t just stumble into a place she didn’t want to be in…She landed exactly where she needed to be! …Oh god the afternoon guests are coming panic
-Credits!
Good for you, Big Boob <3 Himeko! Ruki’s found herself, and found the real core answer to why she keeps pushing forward…Which suggests we’ll be asking that question of our other girls soon. Who might come up next? Probably not Kaos, since I imagine her arc will fill the show, so it’s got to be one of the others…Perhaps Koyume? Well, we’ll find out next time, in episode FIVE of Comic Girls! Wait for it!
