What sports do you see the AoT characters playing? I like to envision Jean as a swimmer or lacrosse player but that's about it
Hello! This is such a fun question, thank you for sending me this!!
What sports would these Aot characters play?
Jean: swimming. His body's perfect for it. Tall, muscular, long arms. He's very fast! But do not, and I repeat, DO NOT make him go on a vertical drop water slide. He will cry.
Armin: he's never been one for sports that involve a lot of... um... physical performance. But oh BOY this man can play golf. He's way too good at calculating trajectories and likes nerding over wind speeds and velocities. Plus, he gets to wear a neat hat.
Annie: Kickboxing. Her agility makes it easy for her to dodge her opponents who often underestimate her size. Plus, she gets to punch people all day long. Sweet!
Mikasa: Gymnastics. There's something about her body that's incredibly graceful. Her movements seem effortless. But she often loses her balance when Eren is around.
Eren: Surfing. Makes him feel free like a bird. Loves disconnecting from his daily life this way. Though, he's been rescued by lifeguards many times. He's not very good.
Pieck: Horse riding. And not just because she's the cart titan! She built an incredible relationship with her horse. Always carries sugar cubes in her pockets.
Connie: Football! His speed and wild card moves makes him incredibly unpredictable for the enemy team. His feet move so fast, no one can keep up.
Sasha: Archery, or course, for obvious reasons. Though she'd also be a great at darts because of her insane precision. As long as Connie doesn't walk in front of the boa- OH SHOOT!
Reiner: Weightlifting. This man is PURE MUSCLE. He can lift you, your mom and your entire sofa in one hand.
Yelena: Fencing. Elegant, refined. Just like her. Though part of her wishes she could actually stab her opponents. You know, just for a bit of harmless fun!
Historia: Rhythmic Gymnastics. Often trains with Mikasa, but while she's more up in the air, Historia's strenght lies in the gentle movements of her ribbons above ground.
Ymir: Skiing. It's fun, relaxing and she enjoys pulling off tricks from time to time. Likes bragging about them to Historia.
Hange: Handball. She has a great leap and throw and her eye for strategy gave her the nickname "the four eyed Demon".
Levi: Sailing, if it can be considered a sport. It's relaxing. Makes him feel content. Means that he can get away from people for as long as he wants to. Who's gonna follow him all the way her- IS THAT FLOCH??
Onyankopon: Canoeing. Why not enjoy some beautiful scenery while we're at it, no?
Falco: Badminton. Has a good eye for the shuttle and seems to be able to always land his hits. Can get easily distracted if playing against Gabi
Gabi: Shooting. BANG! Her aim is fantastic. But she really needs to work on her attitude. Oh no Connie don't walk ther- BANG!!...CONNIE!?

Not only did Lana Del Rey start her Coachella headlining set early, but her entry was epic.
On Friday, April 12, at 11:16 p.m. the festival main stage screens showed an aerial view of Del Rey and her entourage rapidly approaching. As she neared, it became clear her crew was not rolling up on the expected golf carts that often shuttle stars around the Indio, Calif. fest, but rather motorcycles. And as a snippet of her never-to-be-officially-released song “Jealous Girl” played – with the lyric “Baby, I’m a gangster too” on loop – Del Rey’s motorcade took a lap through the crowd as she smiled and waved to the thousands of fans gathered for this very moment.
“What’s up, Coachella,” she asked casually, after making her way to center stage and offering a small smile before performing “Without You” into a fusion of Sublime’s “Doin’ Time” with “Summertime Sadness.” “I’m so happy to be here,” she added with another faint, and even briefer, smile. But keep in mind, this is Lana Del Rey – sad girl pop president and eternally committed to the bit, whether she’s headlining Coachella or not.
As such, her demeanor matched the elaborate set design that looked much like a dilapidated version of the Gatsby Mansion long after it had thrown its last party. Making it, of course, the perfect imaginary scene for Del Rey to host a late-night shindig of her own complete with a swing band and roaring 20s-inspired backup dancers.
Early into the set, Del Rey noted that she last played Coachella “exactly 10 years ago to the day” (during which she debuted single “West Coast”), before softly speak-singing, “We’re still doing it.” Yet, it’s not the fact that she is still here a decade in that’s impressive, but more so that she is still entirely and unapologetically herself after so many years – or at least, that the persona of Lana Del Rey is still so intact. In fact, across her nine studio albums, Del Rey has seemingly become even more herself, taking bigger experimental swings and offering longer, more eyebrow-raising track titles along the way.
And tonight, her headlining set seemed to be a quiet celebration of such, during which Del Rey sauntered across the stage performing career-spanning hits that, in a festival setting like Coachella, felt almost like underground gems that she was carefully unearthing. Even the expected “headliner stunts” were delivered with a delicate touch: She performed “Ride” while slowly spinning from within a circular, leaf-covered swing; delivered a gorgeous a cappella rendition of “The Grants” alongside her trio of backup singers; and, most notably of all, sang “Hope Is a Dangerous Thing for a Woman Like Me to Have – but I Have It” via hologram accompanied by collaborator and close friend Jack Antonoff on piano, who co-produced the track. (Earlier in the night, she was joined by Jon Batiste on piano for an extended version of “Candy Necklace.”)
The hologram – though a bit morbid, especially considering the lyric, “Hello, it’s the most famous woman you know on the iPad/Calling from beyond the grave” – perfectly punctuated the spirit of the set. As evidenced by her closing song selection of “Young and Beautiful” (which was prominently used in The Great Gatsby), it became increasingly clear that Del Rey had come to make a statement.
As she sings on “Young and Beautiful: “I’ve seen the world, done it all, had my cake now. I’ve seen the world, lit it up as my stage now.” All the while, the song’s primary question loomed: “Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful?”
Earlier in the night, Billie Eilish delivered an affirmative answer.
Following online rumors that the superstar would be making a guest appearance during Del Rey’s set (an artist Eilish has long been a fan of), she appeared toward its end atop the arched trellis to duet on “Ocean Eyes” and “Video Games” with Del Rey. After the two were done, they sat a moment longer, seeming genuinely stunned by one another’s presence. “Get the f–k out of my face,” laughed Eilish, speaking to her hero.
“Yep, that’s the voice of your generation, the voice of our generation,” replied Del Rey. “I”m so f—ing grateful she’s standing next to me right now.” To which Eilish replied: “This is the reason for half you b—-es existence, including mine.”
That simple sentence cut to the core of the evening. Sure, the set was spotty at parts – with moments of darkness and silence in between many songs and a handful of issues with mic volume, all of which Del Rey audibly called out. And yes, Del Rey’s soft-spoken tendencies on and off stage may have not made her the most obvious headlining act to kick-off Coachella. But it’s her impact that remains undeniable.
But don’t take my word for it, take it from “the voice of our generation.” The artist who we may not have had it not been for an artist like Lana Del Rey doing what she has and will always do best: being Lana Del Rey.
As she delivered the final note of “Young and Beautiful,” the band picked up steam and her dancers reappeared with champagne bottles in hand as fireworks exploded into the night sky – all the makings of a signature Gatsby blowout. And as Del Rey rode off on motorcycle, just as she came in, the party on stage continued long after she was gone. And that’s the point.
Her undeniable impact is also unforgettable – and exactly what makes Lana Del Rey the icon she is. And one well worth the celebration.

The prototype transit line tested at Georgia Tech in the 1970s
Tumblr media
Not every rail concept is a big success, but we can still learn lessons from the experiments.
From 1976 to the early 1980s (when funding ran out), a "personal rapid transit system" called the Transette operated at Georgia Tech but was never opened to the public.
Georgia Tech was issued a grant from the National Science Foundation to install and test the system, and to help determine its usefulness as public transit. This was a prototype of a belt-driven passive vehicle system invented by Dr. J.F. Sutton
A .25-mile test loop ran from the Student Center to a nearby parking lot.
The most impressive and part of the system: it was autonomously controlled using a series of computers. Seems to have been ahead of its time in that respect.
One big problem with Transette: each vehicle held only four passengers and had a top speed of 15 mph (avg. 12.4 mph).
An observer at the time said it looked like a "glorified golf cart cruising along a baby roller-coaster track." 😂
Even though the prototype was essentially an unsuccessful experiment (it was dismantled when funding ran out and was never put into use for the public), there's something good about a small scale test like this in itself.
Among other things, my guess is that we learned that larger-capacity transit vehicles make more sense as rail lines, and that smaller capacity ones work better as shuttle buses.

We managed to reset our sleeping scheduled to conquer the jet lag today so weren’t asleep for tooooo much of it! Didn’t wake up till midday though. We had planned for today to be a rest day anyway so didn’t really have much planned. Our hotel was within walking distance to the Warner Bros.‘ Studio Tour so we decided to check that out! After like…. 2 minutes outside my hair was completely dry from the shower I took. Safe to say it was HOT. About 30C which was interesting! Luckily most places in the US have AC so when we arrived at the studios the temperature was nice. There was a Starbucks there lmao and also a LOT of security. Like airport level security but I guess that’s for safety purposes as a lot of stuff is filmed here. Upon entry you’re guided to a introductory room explaining about the Warner Brothers themselves - Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack - who founded the studio in 1923. This means that this year (2023) is the 100th anniversary of the studio founding! They were the children of Polish-Jewish immigrants. After this information area you are ushered to a movie theatre-esq room which plays an introductory showcase of all the films made and some of the things you will see. Then you’re split into groups and taken on a shuttle ride. Our guide (Jenny I think?) was SO good, really kind and helpful and can constantly walk backwards without looking, like Mater in cars lmao which was a little uncanny but very impressive! She really knew her stuff and made sure to point out most of the things that locations were used for, not just the more popular shows. Which was good cause honestly the tour primarily was banking on Friends, Gilmore Girls, and The Big Bang Theory, none of which I’ve seen! However one thing I HAVE seen that was filmed almost ENTIRELY on this set is Pretty Little Liars. It’s an ….. interesting show? Shall we say? I wouldn’t say it’s terrible and I wouldn’t say it’s good. Like Glee. A LOT of the houses on the tour we saw were used in PLL and it was so cool to see them and recognise them! Fun fact - each of the houses have multiple façades, so they can act as the exterior of different places depending on which angle the camera is at! The interior is empty completely to allow for multiple uses, and there’s no ceiling on the inside! This is to allow the lighting, cameras, and AC to be moved and positioned to accommodate different things. We went into what was Emily’s house in PLL and everything looks so realistic, but is actually made with other materials to allow for complete remodelling if the shoot calls for it. Fun fact 2 - if any changes are made at ALL, at the end of filming the crew MUST return the set to what it originally looked like. So in PLL, Spencer’s barn is white and has fancier doors and foliage than the red barn originally has. The windows are also all made out of sugar glass so no one gets hurt when doing stunts. In an episode of PLL, a car gets driven into Emily’s living room - this was actually done here, on this set! The stunt driver drove a car straight through the walls and windows, and because of the material the house is made from, it could smash into it without posing much danger to the driver. It’s absolutely fascinating to see and hear how the behind the scenes work! I’ve tried to include in the pictures screenshots from the shows so you can see how they were used and how they were changed, but I took most from a moving golf shuttle (like a golf cart but longer and can fit 12 people) and i shake like there’s no tomorrow so they won’t be the clearest 😅 the sets were also used for films like Batman, Citizen Cane, and they were currently all set up to look like the streets of Texas for Young Sheldon, which was currently filming as we were driving around! Luckily all the film stages are soundproof to accommodate things like this.

Impatient little streamers couldn't wait for the golf cart to shuttle them down the hill, why am I not surprised

Every Asteroid Miner detachment is a two person group. A Pilot - certified for both zero-g and atmospheric flight, and a worker, certified in vacuum suit operation.
While there are two 4-person "shuttles" available, these are not utilized in asteroid mining. Instead, 1.5 person "tugs" are; roughly golf cart sized, in the current mission they are frequently referred to as "fart cans". They fit a pilot in comfort and a passenger in discomfort - but, the passenger can always use the airlock to enter the spacesuit tethered to the back of the vehicle.
The airlock is a standard 15 cm suit airlock - expressly designed for goo alien use. Unlike Human space suits, goo alien space suits are designed for 0.9 ATM operation. No pure oxygen atmosphere, no depressurization sickness without a long preparation period. The suit itself is expected to endure vacuum the entire time it's outside the hangar.
While Mining operations are underway, the pilot is occupied with monitoring the area, regularly reporting progress back to base station traffic control, and collaborating with the worker outside the ship. The ship has one external extendable mechanical gripper, and two mounted tow lines. One of these lines should be mounted to the worker's suit whenever feasible, despite each suit having some propulsion capabilities.
There is always one tug in working order kept in reserve. Of the eight currently available, two were constructed in-situ... and 4 may be out of service for repair at any point.

The Wrong Direction
Stephen E. Freeman (Virginia, USA)
"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home." - Luke 15:4-6 (NIV)
"After attending a football game on a beautiful fall afternoon, my wife, Cecilia, and I became frustrated with the wait time for shuttle buses back to the parking lot; so we decided to hike to our car. It was a nice day, and we wanted some exercise. We tried a shortcut through a wooded area but ended up in an unfamiliar parking lot. We were weary, and we were lost. Suddenly, a golf cart pulled up, driven by a stadium attendant, who asked if he could take us back to the shuttle buses at the stadium. Much relieved, we accepted his offer and returned to find a shuttle that took us to our car in minutes.
This experience reminded me of how our impatience can lead us to want to do things our way, without seeking or waiting on God’s direction. Yet God is faithful. God finds us in the midst of our struggles and invites us to come back to the path. The choice to do so is ours to make, however, and may not be what we had envisioned. But in the end, we will find the love and care of God’s divine providence." Our impatience can and does cause us time and heartache sometimes. Give God time; I know He will fix it.
Today's Prayer
"Dear Father, as we meet the trials of life, strengthen our faith, and help us to feel your abiding love and peace." Amen.
Matthew 18:10, 12-14
"'10 “Be careful that you don’t look down on one of these little ones. I say to you that their angels in heaven are always looking into the face of my Father who is in heaven. 12 What do you think? If someone had one hundred sheep and one of them wandered off, wouldn’t he leave the ninety-nine on the hillsides and go in search for the one that wandered off? 13 If he finds it, I assure you that he is happier about having that one sheep than about the ninety-nine who didn’t wander off. 14 In the same way, my Father who is in heaven doesn’t want to lose one of these little ones."' God will not leave any of us out. And when we wander around lost in our impatience, we will find Him there to rescue us in some way. He uses many others to accomplish this. Find out how blessed that you are today. Joe

Texas Winery Tours Transportation: How to Enjoy the Best Wine Tours Without the Hassle
Texas is home to some of the most beautiful and diverse wine regions in the country. From the rolling hills of the Hill Country to the scenic landscapes of the Texas High Plains, the state's wineries offer a rich tapestry of flavors and experiences. However, navigating these wine regions and ensuring a smooth journey from one tasting room to another can be challenging. This guide will explore the various transportation options available for Texas winery tours, helping you enjoy your wine adventures without the hassle.
Tumblr media
The Appeal of Texas Winery Tours
Texas has rapidly emerged as a notable wine destination, boasting a variety of wineries that cater to both seasoned connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts. The state's climate and soil conditions are conducive to growing a range of grape varieties, resulting in unique and high-quality wines. Wine tours in Texas provide an opportunity to explore picturesque vineyards, learn about the winemaking process, and sample a wide array of wines.
However, enjoying a winery tour requires careful planning, especially when it comes to transportation. Navigating the often winding and rural roads of wine country while trying to keep track of multiple stops can be overwhelming. This is where the right transportation options come into play, ensuring that your wine-tasting experience remains enjoyable and stress-free.
Transportation Options for Texas Winery Tours
Wine Tour Shuttles: Many Texas wine regions offer specialized wine tour shuttles that cater specifically to wine enthusiasts. These shuttles provide pre-arranged routes that include stops at multiple wineries, allowing you to sample a variety of wines without the worry of driving. Wine tour shuttles often come with knowledgeable guides who can provide insights into the local wine scene and enhance your overall experience. This option is particularly useful for group tours, as it ensures everyone can enjoy the tastings without the responsibility of driving.
Private Car Services: For a more personalized experience, private car services offer a flexible and comfortable transportation option. You can book a private vehicle for your group, allowing you to create a customized itinerary that suits your preferences. Private car services provide the convenience of door-to-door service and can accommodate various group sizes. This option is ideal for those seeking a more luxurious experience or who have specific wineries in mind that they wish to visit.
Ride-Sharing Services: Ride-sharing apps such as Uber and Lyft are widely available in many Texas cities and can be a convenient choice for winery tours. These services allow you to request a ride on-demand, providing flexibility in terms of timing and destinations. While ride-sharing can be a good option for smaller groups or if you plan to visit a few wineries, it may become less cost-effective for larger groups or if you plan to visit multiple locations in a single day.
Rental Cars: Renting a car offers the freedom to explore Texas's wine regions at your own pace. Many car rental agencies are located in major cities and airports, making it easy to pick up a vehicle upon arrival. However, it is important to consider the implications of driving yourself, including navigating unfamiliar roads and dealing with parking at various wineries. If you choose to rent a car, make sure to have a clear plan for your route and ensure that you have a designated driver if you plan to sample wines.
Bicycles and Golf Carts: In some wine regions, especially those that are more compact or have dedicated bike paths, renting bicycles or golf carts can be a fun and eco-friendly way to explore the area. This option is best suited for smaller wine regions where distances between wineries are short. Cycling or using a golf cart allows you to enjoy the scenic beauty of the region while visiting multiple wineries in a leisurely manner.
Planning Your Winery Tour Transportation
Research Wine Regions: Texas has several prominent wine regions, including the Hill Country, Texas High Plains, and the Piney Woods. Each region has its own unique characteristics and a range of wineries to explore. Researching these areas can help you determine the best transportation options based on the region's layout and your specific interests.
Consider Group Size: Your choice of transportation should align with the size of your group. For larger groups, wine tour shuttles or private car services may be more suitable, while smaller groups may find ride-sharing or rental cars to be more cost-effective. Ensure that the transportation option you select can comfortably accommodate your group and any additional needs.
Plan Your Itinerary: Creating an itinerary that includes the wineries you wish to visit can help streamline your transportation planning. Many transportation providers offer customizable tours, allowing you to select specific wineries and tailor the schedule to your preferences. Be sure to account for travel time between locations and any reservations or appointments required at the wineries.
Check for Local Regulations: Some wine regions may have specific regulations or restrictions related to transportation and alcohol consumption. For example, certain areas may have limits on the amount of alcohol that can be transported or consumed while traveling. Familiarize yourself with any local regulations to ensure compliance and avoid any potential issues.
Book in Advance: To secure the best transportation options and ensure availability, it is advisable to book your transportation well in advance. Many wine tour shuttles and private car services require advance reservations, especially during peak seasons or weekends. Booking early can also help you secure better rates and avoid last-minute hassles.
Tips for a Smooth Wine Tour Experience
Stay Hydrated and Eat Well: Wine tasting can be dehydrating, so it is important to stay hydrated throughout the tour. Drinking water between tastings and having a light meal can help you enjoy the experience without feeling overindulged or unwell.
