shiv's motivations for voting to pass the gojo deal are so layered and i don't think they should be dismissed in favour of any one interpretation. shiv desperately grabbed on to a lifeline for her relationship with tom. shiv knew she would have more influence as wife of CEO rather than sister of CEO. shiv absolutely hated seeing kendall crystallize into logan before her eyes, especially when he made roman bleed ("and if we did kill him we get to go to bed") -- succession has always been about siblings so of course she freed her brothers before her child. shiv still thinks she can raise her child with all the material benefits of being the daughter of waystar CEO while doing better by her, whatever that means. and all of those things are true

4. Movie of the year?

2021 marks the year I finally went back to the movie theater (previously, the last film I had seen in theaters was Birds of Prey!!!) and while I only saw a handful of new releases, I did end up watching a couple new Netflix drops. However, there were still a lot of movies on my list this year I didn't get to see, including DUNE, which kills me. My top film for 2021 was probably No Time to Die or Black Widow.

5. TV show of the year?

2021 was the year of comfort TV shows, and I mostly rewatched old favorites (Mindhunter seasons 1 and 2 three times in a row, anyone?). I will say I did finally finish The Good Place this year, if that counts, which was a delightful experience and the ending made me bawl like a BABY. I love that show so much.

GRADUATING!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh.

even though it ofc pissed me off, having kaz dismiss inej's feelings ab her faith and parents was probably pretty in character for him pre-SOC... but it's made weird when juxtaposed with all of kaz's pining for her?? like they could have done smth really cool where kaz goes from dismissing her search for her parents to focus on 'the job' to being the one to find them for her at his own expense, but they shot themselves in the foot. I was sort of more on the fence ab Jesper tho- i dont really know if he'd be *that* openly disrespectful ab her faith? felt kind of cruel for him specifically to say

Him dismissing her faith is totally a Kaz thing, but him dismissing her family felt really wrong. You made me think that maybe they ARE preparing the “Kaz goes from having no hope to being the one to find her family”, but it still rings eh. She was RIGHT THERE. In RAVKA. And a FREE WOMAN. And he couldn’t have let her leave once the job was done?????? Tf. Yeah, Jesper could have been a liiiiiiiittle kinder on her. I’d have written in a joke or smth, not a straight up rejection. 

@goldlightsaber i'm so glad i'm not the only one a tiny bit pissed off about kaz being soft in the show. it's not that i thought he was widely out of character, it's just that this version of kaz is like, what i imagine post crooked kingdom or adult kaz to be like. still a little rueful and cunning but wiser and kinder and appreciative of his friends and his gf. it's like they threw away his evolution and just gave us evolved kaz... and they can't backtrack and make him a meany now it'd be weird

That’s my opinion too! If we just end up back at the beginning when the story is done, what was the point? Kaz WAS gonna become more caring and open one way or the other. It’s ok to make an unlikeable asshat of a character that goes on a beautiful journey of healing and kindness and makes us all fall in love with his  story along the way.

Is it weird to say that the revelation that Kaz isn't a part of dregs yet actually made me relieved? Now I get how their going to make him a bastard. I think we'll get to see Kaz join the Dregs (maybe for protection from Pekka "I can break into your office with a shake of my ugly sideburns" Rollins) and as he rises through the ranks, he'll get more and more ruthless and cold. Inej will stick around because she would remember softboy Kaz and look for signs of him in ratboy Kaz. It'll be different from the books but I think it'll be a difference I actually like? A good bastardization arc leaves me weak. Sorry for word vomiting.
