ok! first off, brand new baby sydney, born with her ribbons and all:

sydney quickly develops razor-sharp nails that are strong and needle-like. when she's tiny she doesn't really have a good grip on her claws being painful for others, and since she's a clingy, grabby baby, let's just say rip simon. he wasn't ready for his newborn to literally climb up his pants and shirt to settle at his chest.

she loves her papa. when she got older she got a better handle on her claw control (her claws are extremely strong and difficult to trim, able to shred metal) but tends to forget if her dad pulls away from her or she's feeling extra cuddly. her back claws are blunt, but her legs are strong and she is immune to stubbing her toes, they're almost like solid hooves. simon's full of syd-scars from her claws, and she's got a lot of physical strength compared to morri- she can hang off simon for hours. her ribbons aren't very long when she's little so it's her preferred method of clinging.

she's quiet, doesn't emote much, but still very smart and affectionate. she tends to nuzzle her dad's arm, chest, etc and continually begs to be held by him or near him. she won't explore her world if her dad isn't around. she is by birth more powerful than morri (and her powers are more physical) so she's physically anomalous and looks a lot more like her mother, so simon is more nervous about bringing her out in public.

Less a question, more a comment: I legit am *wiggly* with anticipation at seeing what your continuity's Golbaby's going to look like.

As a major body horror AND comedy fan, I've grinned at the comics threatening eldritch horror with the glee of someone who knows that, in horror movies, there's no better introduction to "this is how this particular world works, and it's not always cute" than getting visited by a deer. (The Ritual? Deer. Antichrist? oh god, deer. Even Evil Dead 2 technically had one.)

You're keeping up a time-honored tradition, and I thank you for it!

Also, I just want to give the main Simon in your AU comic the warmest, fluffiest blanket I have, and my proudest thumbs-up. Even if it's all just a dream, or something. X3

What does Selaphiel do? Like, does it still act like a baby? What do other people think about them?

selaphiel sort of acts like a baby!

she's hardly ever seen by others, just a head above a bunch of golden ribbons tying her to lichtrikov. unlike morrigan, she was concieved (and born) with an order from GOLBetty, which is her primary goal and purpose. she is to prevent lichtrikov from causing harm.

she's more intelligent and cognizant than a normal baby, though she has little interest in socializing or playing much. lichtrikov feels a paternal pull towards her due to his and simon petrikov's personalities merging, and dutifully feeds and cares for selaphiel, not that he has much of a choice. he's attached to her and doesn't want anything bad to befall her, though he wouldn't say he loves her. "accustomed to her company," he would say.

most people find lichtrikov (and by extension, the baby strapped around his waist) unnerving, so they tend to stay away from them. when selaphiel gets older, she decides to become a protector of humanity, keeping her universe's human city safe and watching over them.

usually, selaphiel is covered up in their five pairs of wings, but here's a pic of baby selaphiel without most of their wings!

Has BETADET been successful in meeting a Simon? Even if doing so destroyed his universe? Also who’s the other parent of her offspring? Or did she create them herself? (Sorry for all the questions, this au grabbed my attention, I think it’s really neat)

she has not! most simons tend to ignore her dreams out of fear or just plain being like "yeah, that's a bad idea." even the simons that have actually begun to research her back out. the simons that had began to research her before backing out are given a "gift," a seed through the small connection they had while studying her, in the hopes it will change their mind or their subsequent offspring will convince their simon otherwise.

a little loredrop on the selaphiel of this alt multiverse: she was born to a darker, more morally-grey simon (in reference to lichtrikov). her universe has very gothic, victorian-era vibes. her simon died in childbirth and she was taken to an orphanage, where she was very ostracized due to her mannerisms. (the golbkids appear normal to mortals physically) but their behaviors are a different story. discovering the reason behind her birth when morrigan found her is the first sense of purpose she's ever really had and she clings to it, unwaveringly loyal to her cause.

What would a hypothetical meeting between Morri and Selaphiel be like? They're kinda siblings if you squint your eyes a bit lol.

selaphiel is sort of obsessed with protection, and can tell morri is not up to her standard of "good."

she's just scaring morri off. if she actually wanted to hurt them she would've bound them in ribbons and absorbed their energy.

So what happened when Selaphiel was born?? Were they born normally or did they like teleport out coz different kind of Golbaby to Morrigan??

selaphiel was born differently, but more in the sense of they used her own ribbons to perform a c section for herself.

lichtrikov did not realize what labor was, or that he was in it- not that it mattered much, because selaphiel was quick to grow impatient, and it was not much later that he had a baby strapped securely to his torso that was still throbbing with white-hot pain.

How different would Selaphiel act/look if she were a normal vanilla Simon Golbaby? Since she's the only one with a predetermined purpose,(which is to monitor Lichtrikov as you've mentioned) if she didn't have it, would she be less serious/scary?

both! she loses her command/control ability, since that came from lichtrikov. she speaks more, but is generally still rather quiet and thoughtful, a natural leader who speaks when its important. she has her mother's ribbons still, and she can shape and use them however she pleases. she wouldn't be named selaphiel, either, i don't think the angel name fits her so much.. sydney or stevie (after stevie nicks), i think.

she retains a strong sense of duty to protect those she loves and would seek to become an adventurer, protecting the innocent and weak. she has a strong idea of justice, and is easily blinded by her beliefs.

imagine a situation like.... there's humans on Lichtrikov's world right? well imagine somehow the citizens take away selaphiel from Lichtrikov. Bitch gonna get mad asf.

selaphiel can't be taken away unless she willingly lets go of lichtrikov, but i am imagining this sort of panic rise up in lichtrikov the moment she's not with him, being taken. this obstacle, this thing preventing him from using his powers, fulfilling his goal... and yet he panics. he wants it back.

better yet, without selaphiel's ribbons on him, lichtrikov CAN actually use his abilities again. so. uh. rip the human(s). little selaphiel would be pissed at her dad and of course bind him again, so it'd be a short-lived endeavor all around. in hindsight, lichtrikov would definitely kick himself for reacting so.. poorly. he probably could have gotten away from her ribbons for a good while, but he blew it himself. damn you, petrikov.

Does selaphiel get raised by both the simon and (reluctantly) the litch?

simon and the lich are, mentally and physically, one entity, but yes! lichtrikov has paternal feelings for the little creature and dutifully takes care of her needs, even if he refuses to admit he loves her. he uses the knowledge of human children he had as simon to make sure she is enriched and developing well, but selaphiel prefers to remain strapped to her father and sleep- she has a lot of growing to do, and a lot of power to amass.

lichtrikov feeds her the liquid from his well of power and is rather intrigued to see how enthusiastic she is to drink from her bottle. he clothes her when she isn't wrapped in her ribbons and thinks she looks nice in her onesie. she is an obstacle, a punishment, and he feels the restriction, but lichtrikov also feels a distinct... lack of hatred when she snuggles her tiny head into his chest.

In the Wizard Betty AU, does Simon ever return to his original universe? It makes me sad to think that he and Marcy he raised would never see each other again.

let me share a secret with u anon. wizardbetty au is my self-indulgent "i just want petrigrof to be happy" au. so ofc he comes back! it happens when morrigan is like.. 2 years old? but they're more like a 11..ish.. month old.

since morrigan never got sealed, they got to keep the powers they got from their mommy post birth! simon and betty have grown accustomed to morrigan doing their weird half chaos deity baby shit. portal opened? get the shotgun. mutated a terrible creature out of a mouse that got in? shotgun. made an inconspicous mug into a vaguely humanoid shape? shotgun, just in case.

I'm sorry if I've missed/misunderstood something, but why does Relle and Oberon look so different from all the other Golbabies? Selaphiel gets a pass for her "Be Not Afraidness" since she's a lichtrikov Golbaby, so she doesn't really count in this.

But if we're going off Morri as the 'Template' for Golbabies so to speak, then Melinoe and Melopia are pretty normal, though we haven't seen Axom so maybe being more other worldly is the norm with them.

morri is not like the other golbabies in one key way: they are a fragment of GOLBetty's power. A piece of her in a very literal sense.

if the other golbchildren had been conceived the same, with a fully human simon, they would look a lot more like morrigan, but in the sense that they would take more after simon physically. i'm assuming the main part of the question is probably, "why is oberon a centaur? why is relle a fish? why are relle and melinoe BLUE?" now while the kids past oberon do not have 100% finalized designs, there are three reasons for why they do look so different.

1.) as morrigan has demonstrated, they could in a way control how they developed in the womb. morri actively changed their development pattern to resemble simon's human form as a child- this isn't just them turning from a bean into a person. bringing back this pic

oberon is also white, purple and red because she has albinism.

2.) simon, when he conceives oberon (and perhaps the others) is not a human. it wasn't intentional, but when simon was revived he was not brought back the same. the human body is more like a shell, an exterior that he was put into. it is his actual human body! but there is more going on beneath the surface, his entity form can only come out as a projection (leaving his physical body behind, asleep). also he's blue.

thus, they're conceived between two entities rather than GOLBetty and human simon. simon is kinda weird also, where he is sort of able to pass on both his deity set and human body set of genes to a degree.

3.) the energies conceiving relle and oberon were particularly extremely positive, and relle and oberon are almost strictly benevolent deities where the other kids are neutral. its design choice sorta.

oberon is a lesser deity of memory, wisdom (not intelligence) and mental well being, and relle is a lesser deity of tranquility and healing. GOLBetty's bright reds don't exactly evoke those vibes to me, especially for relle. but i still wanted them to look distinctly nonhuman and ethereal.
