there's an old saying: any friend of Nata's is probably good people (unfortunately Yami . it's actually a shame they haven't interacted more/sooner, that definitely needs to change! Do they tend to listen to their limits, or do they push themselves?

There are different thresholds for different kinds of pain for sure, but Vincent will 1,000% push himself! It takes a pretty good mental health day for him to properly listen to his physical limits. Not to say that those days don't happen!! But chances are more likely that he's going to dive into a situation with bare minimum regard for physical comfort. There's too much to do, always, always, always, and that drive supersedes almost everything else. He has a very catholic flavored ideal of karma, so if it's morally good to do good works, and it's morally pure to punish yourself for wrongdoing, then there must be something particularly noble in combining both, working your knuckles to the bone to solve a problem. It's sanctifying. So long as some end result is pushed through to, the pain means it MEANT something.

It's fairly late in the evening when he gets the message.

Late meaning it's quarter to seven, and he was sprawled out on the cough, half an hour into some horror movie when the text lights his phone up, the device buzzing atop his thigh. It's welcome, yes, but he was halfway to dozing off, and he's only slightly inconvenienced by it. But the prospect of a new friend and some fresh coffee was enough to get him up. He'd gotten dressed, not in anything fancy, and headed out.

Twenty minutes later - no thanks to the traffic and the asshole that almost t-boned him - he's standing outside the local coffee shop, one hand in his pocket, the other holding up his phone so as to scroll through the feed.
