Awww! Techno’s Dad!!!
Close! Techno does have an actual mother and father that is his by blood, the Blood God is more a godfather than an actual father? Techno was born a fighter, but he was also smallest of his litter - and very sickly. He's got mixed ancestry - both player and mob, and sometimes the genetics just don't work out. In an attempt to save him after conventional medicine didn't work they offered him to the Blood God as a favor, asking he be healed in exchange for him being the god's champion.
Tumblr media
Surprisingly their bargain was accepted and Techno soon recovered and began catching up to his peers. It's because of this mixed ancestry that caught the Blood God's attention, this champion would be like no other. There are traces of this though - while Techno is huge by human standards he's a little small for Piglin standards.
Tumblr media
I'm still working on how Piglin culture works, and how childrearing and familial bonds work, but it is communal. So it would be the entire sounder asking the Blood God to save this child. Life is already very hard in the Nether and every one counts towards survival, in numbers there is strength, so losing even one piglet is considered a failure of the community, even if there's nothing that could have been done. The Blood God is strict when it comes to how the natural order must be carried out, but nature does grant miracles every once in a while.

Dark Farfadream Royalty AU
So the Dark Farfadream Royalty AU won by a landslide so I will be talking about that. Be warned this will contain some dark themes like non/con, torture, miscarriage mentions, and just Dream going through the wringer for this idea
TW mentions of rape, miscarriage, and torture in graphic detail read at your own risk
Farfadox is the Demon King who came out victorious in a war against the kingdom of Essempi. To not have the kingdom destroyed, the nobles agree to a list of demands the Demon King has given them, one of the demands being they give him a bride because his previous spouse died and he has no heirs to his throne.
On the final day before departure, Farfadox is handed his bride who he notices is dressed in a wedding dress too big that covers the bride completely. The bride has a veil covering their face but Farfadox can see that his bride-to-be is trembling in fear as they are pushed into the Demon King's arms, ignoring the snide remarks from the soldiers who brought him his bride, he lifts the veil covering their face to see beautiful emerald green eyes filled with tears staring back at him. His bride's face is heavily scarred but to Farfadox, his bride is one of the most beautiful people in the world he has seen
OR
Dream, Essempi's princess turned prince has been locked away in prison after his family was overthrown and executed by the NotFound family with him only being alive due to the NotFound family's son who took an interest in him. After an incident, Dream was tortured and assaulted for many years until he was given to Farfadox being told he wouldn't even survive the first night
Side Notes:
Dream is trans but he was misgendered during his imprisonment and when he is offered to Farfadox he doesn't bother trying to correct him whenever Farfadox addresses him as a 'she'
The reason why Farfadox wasn't enraged when Dream was given to him as his bride after being told Dream was a prisoner is that in demon culture it's not uncommon for their people to sometimes marry slaves; Farfadox's father was a gladiator slave before his mother married him
During his time imprisoned, Dream was impregnated against his will and had multiple kids which are Ranboo (kicked out of the house at a young age due to how 'different' he looked and now lives in the forest at the edge of a village), Connor (living in fear with his dad who is a raging alcoholic), Hannah and Tina (half-sisters who are constantly abused by their stepmother but their half-sister Sylvee tries her best to keep them safe even if it means taking the brunt of her mother's abuse) and Yogurt (who was actually the only consensual pregnancy Dream had with Fundy after Fundy was forced by his dad Wilbur to sleep with Dream)
The reason why Dream was saved from being executed was because George had seen Dream once as a kid and wanted him as his wife, so another kid was executed in Dream's place. Over the course of a year after the rebellion he gets close to Dream and when he tries to initiate sex Dream gets scared, lashes out and on accident breaks George's nose; this then leads to Dream getting raped by George, beaten by some knights who then are given permission to use him as they see fit
Before Dream is sent off to Farfadox, he is gang-raped for hours and was told he was sent off because he couldn't produce any more kids so Dream doesn't say a word to Farfadox about the assault until a couple months later he wakes up feeling nauseous and finds out he is pregnant (it's George's kid) but loses the baby a couple weeks later
Techno is Dream's Godfather and emperor of the Antartic Empire, a small kingdom. He was devastated when he heard of the rebellion and execution but he couldn't declare war as his kingdom was smaller and not as powerful compared to Essempi
Farfadox and Dream eventually work things out and Dream gets all the help he needs to fully heal and a couple years later the two have sex and eventually Dream gets pregnant with twins
My inbox is open for asks so feel free to ask me anything about this au as this is one that I've been fleshing out for a while and will publish after Wither Roses is done

just saw your offer for book recs and would love some fantasy/sci fi books, it seems like we have similar taste. i just finished nk jemisin's broken earth trilogy, and also loved the city we became by her.
Aha, I am at work right now and thus do not have my bookshelves at hand to make sure I'm not missing something blindly obvious. However, I will start you off with these:
The Rook and Rose trilogy by M.A. Carrick (The Mask of Mirrors, The Liar's Knot, Labyrinth's Heart). Yes, this is the series I have been screaming about nonstop for the past few weeks and thus craftily suckering unsuspecting passersby into reading. An AMAZING world, an OT3 who own my entire ass, lots of political intrigue, cultural and social commentary, a unique magic system, and also plenty of humor. It really has it all. I continue my one-man quest to make this fandom bigger. Ahem.
The Green Bone trilogy by Fonda Lee (Jade City, Jade War, Jade Legacy). Another fantastic fantasy series that NEEDS more readers. Inspired by Chinese/Hong Kong kung-fu movies, set in a gritty modern universe, kind of like the Godfather but with magical jade-wielding families. Tons of discussion of empire, culture, violence, appropriation, power, war, family, Asian identity, more. They're likewise nice and long to keep you busy.
The Daevabad trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty (The City of Brass, The Kingdom of Copper, The Empire of Gold). Another you-gotta-read-this trilogy (yes, I have many of them). Set in the 18th-century Middle East and the magical djinni kingdom of Daevabad. Politics, empire, religion, history, intrigue, magic, scheming families, ancient wars, and my most beloved, Muntadhir al-Qahtani. What is not to love.
The Priory of the Orange Tree and its standalone prequel, A Day of Fallen Night, by Samantha Shannon. Absolute doorstopper (800+ pages apiece) epic-with-dragons-and-medieval-worlds fantasy, like Game of Thrones if Game of Thrones was a) good b) gay c) feminist and d) had people of color. She is also the author of the Bone Season series (four books thus far) which is a unique blend of futuristic sci-fi and fantasy set in an alternate totalitarian London and a ruined Oxford.
Winter's Orbit and Ocean's Echo by Everina Maxwell. Two M/M space opera romances (set in the same universe, but can be read independently). She got her start as a fanfic writer and it shows; these are both delightful, plotty, funny, and full of sassy gay disaster homosexuals in space.
A Memory Called Empire and A Desolation Called Peace by Arkady Martine (I have read the first one, need to read the second one). Historian of medieval Byzantium writes space opera set in Space Constantinople which is also Space Tenochtitlan. Explores language, history, memory, power, identity, assimilation, and more, and is also very funny.
Autonomous, The Future of Another Timeline, and The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. High-concept social-commentary dystopian science fiction; of the three, Terraformers (the newest one) might be my favorite. They're not related so you can read them in whatever order.
Two books that I have not read yet but I really want to: Swim Home to the Vanished by Brendan Shay Basham and To Shape a Dragon's Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose. Both are fantasy novels by Native American authors; Basham's is magical realism and Blackgoose's is about a Native American dragon-rider facing assimilation at an English (Anglish) boarding school.
Likewise coming soon and I am excited: The Jinn-Bot of Shantiport by Samit Basu. Middle Eastern-inspired fantasy, cyberpunk, techno-magic. In space!
There are definitely more that I will get home and be like oh wait yeah. But this should get you started.

ok finally decided to look into the outfits seen in al be back cuz i wanted to find out who they were referencing.
to preface, the boys all reference different genres of music obviously, it is the music episode, raph is soul, leo is glam rock, donnie is techno, and mikey is rap.
raph's is definitely a nod to james brown, who was like. THE biggest name in soul. he's been called the "godfather of soul."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
donnie's is a reference to daft punk, specifically guy-manuel de homem-christo. these first 2 were on the fandom wiki, which took out like all the guess work lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i asked my mom about this one and she said mikey's is most likely a reference to run dmc or ll cool j. after looking at both, i'm gonna say run dmc, it's the adidas tracksuit/hat combo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
leo's i'm like, 75% sure is a reference to david bowie??? i'm not really sure. with glam rock outifts being as campy as they are, it could be anyone. i don't think the team would've picked like super obscure bands to reference tho, and he's giving david bowie energy. so idk

You know that TikTok trend of ‘oh my god you’re literally my dream girl’ followed by a soundboard going off at every shocking thing they did/red flag of theirs? I just saw one of a brother doing this to his sister, bitch had a whole list and everything and completely wrecked his sister.
I need to see that with the G1 cassettes doing this to their sister, Soundwave’s human hybrid daughter.
"Omg, you're literally my dream girl."
"She's techno organic."
"Her whole family are war criminals."
"She's also a criminal."
"She steals everything, she's never payed a single dollar."
"She constantly gets 'rescued' by autobots."
"Her first crush was Bumblebee."
"She doesn't even have an alt mode."
"Megatron is her godfather."
"She's never gone to school."
"When she was seven we tricked her into thinking she'd turn into a full cybertronian when she entered puberty. She believed this until she was fourteen."
"She can't drive."
"She's obsessed with human TV."
"She's got a framed picture of Columbo beside her bed."
"Last week she accidentally called Shockwave 'mom'. It's the fourth time she's done this."

Talk about yr aus…
There is one specific au that me and a few others have been brainstorming ( cough @nomsfaultau cough)
Basically the premise is that its the early Victorian era and Tommy is the kid of two wealthy landowners and hes got a big ol fortune to inherit. Problem is his parents passed away in some sort of incident and so hes sent to live with his godfather, Billiam.
Now, Tommy really doesn't know Billiam that well and has only ever heard stories from his father and mother. He knows that Billiam is a bit of a snob and makes a living off of sending kids to work in the coal mines (Tommy made that up he doesn't actually know if thats true) so he isn't excited about the fact this is happening.
And two things happen,
One, "Billiam" insists on being called "Techno".
Two, "Techno" doesn't seem to know how to function like a proper human being.
Tommy hears him shuffling around the house and stuff at night and while the servants (A blonde old bag who laughs like a crow, A tall vampire looking bastard, and more colorful characters) constantly insist that this is completely normal behavior Tommy isn't falling for it.
At least the food is good, Tommy likes the liver they serve. They say its pig liver or something and food is food.

Today's compilation:
Sampler EP Volume 1 1990 Techno / Abstract
Whoo, boy, what a tremendous record here, folks. Back in 1990, techno godfather Juan Atkins had only 500 copies of this little white-label 12-inch pressed up for his tiny Interface label, with each track recorded in his very own, now-mythical Metroplex Studios in Detroit. And if you were one of the few people who were actually lucky enough to get your mitts on this thing, you had access to some truly stunning morsels of foundationally raw, electro-inspired, dystopian fire that still go hard to this very day 🤯.
So, I think the best tune out of all of these comes from a guy named Neuropolitique, who was originally from Britain, but ended up making his way to the Motor City in the 80s, and immersed himself in the burgeoning underground techno scene there. On this record, he unleashes "Mind U Don't Trip," a snazzy and abstract bit of gold that lays some mind-bogglingly eerie and echoing, nuclear wintry flute stabs over a rough bassline and punching drums. Three-plus decades later, this is still one of the single-wildest pieces of techno that's probably ever been created.
But also not to be missed is the record's first cut, Detroit legend Anthony "Shake" Shakir's "Sonar 123," which really loads itself up on an assortment of chemical bleeps and bloops, and cinches it all together with this thin line of high-pitched digital squealing. And the closing tune, "Surkit," by Reel by Real, has a series of cool, bleepy, and bubbly synth melodies that all manage to run into each other over a set of simple, yet majestic string pads, which end up lending some wondrous depth to the whole production.
These tracks are a whole lot easier to find now, but what would remain undeniable is that what was being done on this record itself was a truly historic thing, regardless of how many people had actually heard it. So, in that sense, a release like this might as well be techno's equivalent of The Velvet Underground & Nico.
Highlights:
Shake - "Sonar 123" Neuropolitique - "Mind U Don't Trip" Reel by Real - "Surkit"

I don't mean to make parallels, but remembering how c!techno pointed out killing a father and kidnapping the child without the other dads permission is super-villain behavior, I wonder what he'd think seeing the same guy "adopt" his former prisoners kid and lock the parent in the basement.
I'm also thinking of Briar/techno dynamic now
Techno is Briar's godfather! So. Yeah. He probably wouldn't think very highly of the situation, and Sam is very lucky Techno never heard what happened
I'm sure Dream thought about how to contact Techno all the time

After Ever After - Chapter 14 - The Blood Godfather
A bit of a shorter chapter. Sam and Dream finish up their visit with Sam's parents, and later on, visit with Techno so Dream can do some trading. At which point, Techno makes an odd request of them.

The Fader, October 21, 2011
Given the popularity of our week-long What We’re Reading series, we’ve decided to make it a weekly column. Just think of this as your non-committal book club with The FADER and some of your favorite bands. For this installment, Lana Del Rey, gives us her top picks.
The Master Key System by Charles F. Haanel: Essential Reading for anyone looking to find their own road to happiness and success in their lives. The Godfather of all books written on how to be successful and find peace.
Howl by Allen Ginsberg: I found this poem when I was 15, and it was one of the first pieces of literature that ever resonated with me. The fact that I related so closely to Ginsberg's manic, drug-fueled rantings was a sign of very dark but creative times to come.
Forbidden Gates: How Genetics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Synthetic Biology, Nanotechnology, and Human Enhancement Herald the Dawn of Techno-Dimensional Spiritual Warfare by Tom and Nita Horn: An easy way to become familiar with some of the major advances we're making each year. It's 2011, and we should all be aware of exactly how fast technology is developing—from understanding cybernetics, to learning that living organisms are now being created synthetically. In my world, life has always been more than music and art; it's about science and understanding where we come from.
Originally published on thefader.com with the headline What We're Reading: Lana Del Rey.

Delano Smith & sillygirlcarmen Release Play EP
Tumblr media
Detroit's Delano Smith and sillygirlcarmen release their Play EP. The cross-generational collaboration is a musical appetizer of three infectious house tracks currently heating up the playlists of Detroit's ace brigade of dance music DJs.  Smith's history as a pre-techno architect and disciple of Detroit's house Godfather Ken Collier is heard in his production of spellbinding grooves. Carmen, who has spent the past decade DJing alongside house luminaries like Louie Vega, comes to Play with the same energy displayed on last year's "Over" with Atlanta-based DJ/producer Reggie Dokes.  The celebration of personal freedom called "Freak" seduces the brain and body like a harmless narcotic with its repetitious 4/4 beat, cloudy keyboard riffs, and sillygirlcarmen's vocals. "Birdie" is a party anthem resting on a foundation of soft hi-hats, atmospheric notes, and synth bass made for fun in the twilight of a club. "Queen" tops the song trio off with sillygirlcarmen caping for self-possession and demanding that listeners recognize their nobility and own it on the dancefloor. Sillygirlcarmen and Delano Smith's Play EP creates wonderment over who will remix it and whether the duo will release a proper album.  Play's healthy escapism is classic house crafted by two of its most devout gurus from one of the genre's epicenters.
