How in the hell are people interpreting it this way??? But then i step back and realize that the story or character in question is fundamentally and extraordinarily different from the average person's life experience and I go,

DEEP traumas #shit that no human should ever go through and sounds almost cartoonishly evil #and the truth is #healing from that is UGLY. the impact it has on how a person interacts with their life is unimaginable #and it often makes NO SENSE AT ALL to someone who hasn't experienced the same shit #it's not as simple as 'i'm sad or scared and i cry easily but if youre nice to me and love me it'll go away'#in my own experience of loving someone like that #you sometimes have to work at helping them rewrite their entire philosophies.#things you wouldnt even think of #sometimes expressing sadness or pain is the hardest part about it because they're so used to turning the other cheek to survive #sometimes theyre so used to being manipulated that they reject any kindness you offer in the most viscerally violent way #and it hurts!#communication is HARD!#receiving love is HARD!#i was listening to Raon Lee's cover of Kokoronashi #and thinking about how raw the emotions are in the lyrics #and how so many average joes out there wouldn't be able to make any sense of it but those who do get it really get it #(essentially like... reading this one YA book. it’s making me laugh bc the main character is a mary sue for sure (not like. the worst thing to happen but it’s very obvious things are gonna come up Io) and also it’s got some of that patented corny YA dialogue along with those crazy coincidences that everyone is in the same city! and our mcs have no issues navigating which just ties back to the mary sue/plot armor point. but i am enjoying it still

#jaytalking #its threads that bind/hearts that cut for any curious souls out there #gorgeous covers btw #like. i’m glad that it doesn’t feel like a copy of a different more popular book (at least that i know of)#like it’s got the tropes that are common but it’s not the same as like. the gilded wolves trilogy to six of crows #i DNFed the silvered serpents (book 2). cannot get over the cursive italic font and also i read some spoilers for the third book and it #sounds like it ends poorly and unsatisfyingly. but back to the other book #i think the world building is nice if not a little overwrought. i get wanting to have different cultures so not all of the characters are #greek but i do feel as if it’s a little too expansive for a duology.#the premise is like. people have god ancestry and get powers from it but specifically gods that are siblings #and also they’re aren’t like. demigods they just have one specific power. the mc is moirai specifically the cutter of the trio #it’s a cute book i’m enjoying it
