Dear Oreocookiezzz,
What people? The people who spend their days on the internet and never actually look around to see how many guys go out to dinner together without it being romantic?
Actually, The Mod here seats people in a restaurant they host. There are many MANY customers that are two MEN dinning together as colleagues, friends, college buddies or church friends, especially in the mornings. In fact, their father, uncles and brothers dine with their male friends from time to time.
Conclusion, either you are completely delusional or haven't been out enough to wake up and realize that two people having dinner together doesn't equate to dating. Just because a bunch of moronic online nerds say it is, that doesn't mean it equates to how people think in the real world.
- Kristoph Gavin
#oreocookiezzz#Kristoph Gavin#Phoenix Wright#Ace Attorney#Mod Commentary#It's true. I see a ton of guys irl that dine and have dinner together without it being romantic#There are even girls that will pay for a honeymoon suit hotel just so they can have a group jacuzzi and it's 100% platonic#Hell there are people in fiction that are the same or opposite sex that have dinner together without it being romantic#I know there are people that leap to that conclusion and I've teased about Edgeworth's unnecessary feelings meaning romantically#But even so I consider dining together to be a huge stretch. This isn't “Unnecessary feelings” where no guy ever says that to their friend#Even in fiction guys go out to eat from time to time. It's not THAT uncommon. Just saying lol

Ranking the Ace Attorney main cast on whether or not I think they'd be a narc
I was making a more coherent, serious post about the different approaches to justice each of the characters have and how that is shaped by their backstory... and then I realized a funnier question is what they would do if they saw you eating a weed brownie so I made this post instead
Phoenix: In the trilogy era, yes. He trusts people, but believes that trust has to be built on pursuing justice and always accepting the harsh reality. He'd be sad about it, but a narc nonetheless. In his Beanix era he's making his money through "totally legal gambling" and on the hunt for questionably legal evidence so I have no doubt in my mind there's a pot farm under the WAA for supplemental income. He gives up his narc ways and for that I salute him
Apollo: If I were to pick a single member of this cast who is NOT invited to the rotation it would be him. He had zero hesitation throwing Kristoph to the wolves after working for him for years so I know he has absolutely zero qualms about ratting out his friends or coworkers. Loyalty means nothing in the eyes of justice and it means nothing to him. He's a narc.
Athena: She's gonna lecture you and look all sad about it, but she's no snitch. She's been through the rounds with Simon so she gets it. Having to know you hurt her feelings is enough of a punishment in her eyes
Edgeworth: He's not a narc but he IS obsessed with being right, so if you don't immediately fess up with exactly what you're doing he's going to send your stoned ass to the chess dimension and honestly I think that's worse
Franziska: Unfortunately she is a cop. Narc.
Godot: Diego-era yeah he's a narc, but after the coma? I feel like he has better things to worry about, he would just ignore you. He has some soul searching to do and some grief complexes to unlearn he doesn't have the time to be a lil snitch. Post prison I think he's stoned somewhere in Kurain and chillaxing, as is his right
Klavier: Don't let his rockstar attitude fool you he's a narc and extremely annoying about it. The gavinners tour bus is dry as hell and it's all Klavier's fault. Daryan offers him a line and he gets all uppity and says "the only LINE i want you doing is the third line in the prechorus, you keep messing up the syncopation" and that's the end of that discussion
Simon: He's been in prison so he knows what's up. Not a narc. Might glare at you until you share though
Nahyuta: He's a narc and will lecture you so long about it you're tempted to turn yourself in to get out of earshot. He also never forgets and never forgives. Datz is trying to reform him but it isn't going well
Sebastian: Yes, but I think the idea of him having to turn in someone for it would make him cry so they end up comforting him instead. Kay thinks he needs to try a weed brownie
Maya: I want you to look at me and tell me she doesn't smoke weed. Not a narc
Pearl: I think if she found out that her big sister figure smoked weed she would have a heart attack. Def a narc
Trucy: I can say with absolute certainty that if you really wanted weed she could find you a dealer faster than anyone in the cast. Trucy is a magician and has grown up around a variety of people involved with some seedier institutions, she knows better than to snitch. Has not been and will never be a narc
Kay: Will help you shoplift. Not a narc
Gumshoe: A narc on principle, but would feel really bad about it and would probably let you off with a warning if you started crying or acting upset because I think he's a softie. He's not unreasonable
Ema: If you think she has even the tiniest sliver of respect for cops you're lying to yourself. Not a narc and will actively help you evade police out of principle. A homie, honestly
Fulbright: Not only is he a narc but he definitely runs the DARE program at the local highschool and is printed on half the posters they put up in the precinct. I'm also like 80% sure he doesn't actually know how weed works

I need to know what was going through Phoenix's head when he decided to make Klavier the prosecutor for the jurist system test. He knew Kristoph was involved. He knows Klavier and Kristoph are siblings (it'd be weird if he didn't considering Klavier and Kristoph could pass for identical twins). He'd probably figured out at that point that Klavier was used as a pawn in Zak's trial. Did he just want Kristoph to feel the betrayal of being torn a new one by his own brother? Did he realize how much it'd end up affecting Klavier? Did he think Klavier wouldn't believe the full extent of Kristoph's crimes if he didn't see it with his own eyes? If so, why did it matter so much to Phoenix that he put Klavier in a potentially traumatizing position PUBLICLY? What the hell motivated him to appoint Klavier as the prosecutor of the case and did he know the position he was putting Klavier in?

@mimimilu literally destrudo.txt
So recently I came into possession of one "Ace Attorney Apollo Justice Anthology" manga book. Parts of this manga have been scanned online, but there is at least one story that has not been scanned in full. I wanted to share a few panels and scans from it because it's been on my mind in terms of how bizarre it is. Keep in mind this manga was like, fully licensed by Capcom?
In the story, Trucy and Apollo are at the Agency and Trucy is doing some magic tricks with the magic pants. Culminating in her pulling Kristoph and Klavier out of said magic pants. I have not translated the entire story so I'm not even sure if it's meant to be actually them or some kind of demonic doppelgangers or something. Anyways, they all get to talking about something something about the magic props in the room, and then this.

From what I understand of Japanese it seems like he's saying he thinks this is a time that Apollo set up for him to like, talk to Klavier and he's happy/grateful for having such an assistant (someone help me out here, is that right??) ??? bruh. He's crying happy tears. What a dramatic ass bitch. Apollo just standing there like hhhh god get over it is making me lmao.
Ok but then.

"それでは 戻りましょうか一緒に" -> "Let's go back together"
Ok, wtf. Again, I don't have time right now to translate everything but I'm not entirely sure if he means let's go back to Gavin Law?
(The Kristoph in the manga does things like this. In another one-page gag he takes over the Wright Agency and renames it the Gavin Agency and locks Phoenix out so he can practice magic with Trucy.)
Truly the possessive, fucked up Kristoph we all know and love. But it doesn't stop there.

He starts dragging Apollo off to hell or some shit lol.
Bro what is you doin?
He's like "ok this is my assistant thanks kbye!"
How it ends is Kristoph disappears into thin air (I think Trucy did something) and Apollo is just like wtf? And that's the end of the story.
I'll have to scan and translate this in full at some point but A. it's nice to have some funny extra official material of these two, and B. it's so in character no matter how you slice it lmao. It's just so weird like all the other stories in this anthology.
#and you're welcome#kristoph is lonely in hell so he's taking apollo with him. whos going to carry his BRIEFCASE#the devil needs an assistant too :)

I'm 100% aware this has probably been overly spoken about but I want to speak on it. As a treat.
Evidence is everything has been used so liberal through the game. I know Edgeworth started it off in the series, and undoubtedly popularized it in universe. But to have Apollo go with it with THAT pose, when he's grappling with the possibility that someone he works alongside is a killer once again? It's most certainly a clear cut Kristoph reference.
Considering DD explores mental health deeper than the previous games, I wouldn't be surprised if Apollo did this to close himself off (as Kristoph's crossed arms feel like he's closing himself off, along with the general symbolism of hiding something) and/or, for something even more complex, to feel some sort of comfort and stability. I'm certain he had stability when being mentored, so for Turnabout Trump to happen and his life suddenly being flipped upside down with his mentor in prison, it'd make sense for him to subconsciously act, and Hell even SPEAK, like Kristoph to feel the stability and to feel the comfort Kristoph had given him, even if Kristoph is now in prison. Like it or not, Kristoph obviously is still having an effect on Apollo to where Apollo is using Kristoph's mannerisms to undoubtedly cope.

hey lua what decks do phoenix aceattorney and miles aceattorney play in magic
PHOENIX WRIGHT
once upon a time, a friend bullied me into going to a Pro Tour Qualifier, which was probably the largest Magic tournament i’d ever been to at that time, right?
i was happy to be bullied, to be clear, but the problem was… i hadn’t played standard-format Magic competitively in about 2-3 years. so my knowledge of the current metagame, what deck archetypes were popular, and what the current cards even were, was staggeringly limited.
“it will be fine,” said my friend. “here, take this spare deck i built. it’s super-straightforward and easy,” he lied.
he said this to me approx. 8 seconds before the first round began, so uhhhhh, i sure was playing a game of magical cards without ever having even looked at the damn deck before!
so, lo, literally in the course of playing the deck, i was learning how this shit was supposed to work. “oh!” i’d exclaim with delight, halfway through my turn. “THAT’S how those two cards are supposed to interact. oh that’s super clever. what a neat combo.” and then i’d proceed to shiftily look at my opponent over my cards, riffle those cards a lil bit, and then say “pass” with as much of an enigmatic vibe as i could muster.
meanwhile, my opponent was Actually Prepared, and they were Trying To Win, and they were pissed. they threatened to call Slow Play on me because i was taking so fucking long reading all the cards. as in, he literally called a judge over, who stood there watching me the whole time, in order to determine if i was being Criminally Bad At Magic versus just A Regular Amount Of Bad At Magic, and i was sweating bullets the whole time because i didn’t know this deck or their deck or any of those cards and AHHHH why is the judge staring at me!!!
….which only served to make it EXTRA-humiliating for this poor fuck when i proceeded to eviscerate them 2-0. hahahah get dunked onnnnnnnn nerd!!!
and then i also proceeded to eviscerate my next opponent???
sheer dumb luck. i cannot overstate how ill-prepared i was for this tournament. i absolutely did not deserve these wins.
meanwhile the friend who gave me the deck was having a much worse time with their deck, and they were like “what the fuck. you weren’t supposed to win. how are you winning with that shit, my deck’s so much better than yours”
anyway. i think that’s the kind of scenario Phoenix would get into if he were an MtG player. dude Gets Himself Into Situations And Then Uses Cleverness + Bullshit + Luck To Get Out Again.
(AA4-era Phoenix seems like he’s doing the same thing… but, in reality, he’s actually been meticulously crafting his deck in secret for the past six months. he’s not even aiming to win the tournament, he’s just exploiting a known weakness in the opponent-matching system that lets him know with certainty who he’s going to get matched up against (spoiler: first round is Kristoph), and he’s hyper-optimizing his deck to beat Literally Only Those People. meanwhile, Apollo, who built a tryhard hyper-optimized variant of Red Deck Wins, is lowkey annoyed that Phoenix's seemingly-random pile keeps vaulting him just one table above him in the standings, because Apollo knows his deck is better. he knows it!!!! just let him go 1v1 and prove it aaaaughhhh!!!)
((also, in case you want Actual Concrete Cards And Colors And Stuff: in general i think Phoenix prefers limited play (draft, sealed, "anything where you open booster packs on the spot & throw a deck together") to constructed play, because he doesn't like being tied down to any one game plan. when he does play constructed, i think he's less attached to a specific colors and more attached to specific mechanics. in particular: he's not a combo player exactly, but he likes mechanics that feel like bullshit. dude saw Madness for the first time & his eyes lit up & he was in LOVE, "you mean i'm discarding the card but then i can cast it for free??? hell YES." he absolutely ran a poison counter deck during New Phyrexia. ah fuck i just realized he was probably a huge stan for noted awful expansion Battle for Zendikar, i think i gotta cancel him now, sorry))
((and i think Phoenix also has a touch of Timmy in him! like, i went to a huge state tournament once with a bunch of really skilled players, and there was this one dude in our car who had a really solid deck, clearly adhered to a lot of the trends in the meta at the time... but his win condition was a Shivan Dragon. which wasn't a bad card at the time, it was a reasonable win condition, but it was... slightly suboptimal? not at all the obvious pick? sort of random? and multiple people asked him "why is that your win condition" & he shrugged and said "i like dragons." so the dragon stayed & that dude ended up getting second place in the whole tournament so FUCK optimal play, bring a dragon. i think Phoenix would sneak in a dragon now and again. just 'cause))
MILES EDGEWORTH
this one is trickier!!!
young!Miles is just going to play Whatever The Meta Deems To Be The Best Deck, right. the von Karma perfection thing and all. it's all very boring & micro-optimized to be the Best Deck Of Its Kind & he pours over the results of the big name tournaments week after week & does some math or whatever to hyper-optimize his own build of the Obviously Correct Deck. there is no soul in any of this, purely Executing On A Formula.
...but then he experiences Character Growth & has his big gay crisis & now he has to pick up the game again. he opens the latest tournament results... clicks around some win % stats for various cards in a desultory kinda way, and... his heart's just not in it, right?
enter 2-4 era Miles. 2-4 era Miles is playing some utterly unhinged Five Color Good Stuff thing. there's a lot of Planar Chaos cards in there, because that whole set was about Weird Shit & cards doing Stuff You're Familiar With (But In The Utterly Wrong Color!!!) & all that is resonating with Miles more than he'd care to admit. he cannot possibly talk about his unnecessary feelings but he can make a weird noise rock album about them. and by noise rock album i mean this fucking Magic deck.
and he's playing this deck with a 100% straight face, as though this is the exact same behavior that won him the Junior Super Series five years in a row & not a desperate cry for help from a madman. everyone else is like Miles... are you playing fucking singletons... in a fucking standard deck... you know your deck will be more consistent with four-ofs right... and then he gives a cool fish-eyed stare & taps out to cast some arcane bullshit legendary creature & gives a single rap of his knuckles against the table to indicate that he's passing the turn.
and it works, is the thing! all those years of training to be the Spikiest Spike Ever have paid off; this Five Color Good Stuff thing relies on some pretty clever insights to make the mana base work, and parts of what he's doing eventually get adopted by the larger metagame to become an Actual Serious Deck. but, like. it's still a monstrosity. any skilled players watching are still definitely wondering Are You Okay, Dude.
after 2-4, i think Miles settles back into playing something more normal. he still cares about winning, but he's going to do it with a touch of class. he wants a game that involves dialogue, some actual back-and-forth, because just trying to combo off is lame coward behavior.
aw yeah baby we're talking counterspells!!!
he's a blue player at heart & he's happiest when he's updating the autopsy report shutting down whatever his opponent's plan is. he'll splash other colors as the occasion calls for it, but he'd be happy running mono-blue the rest of his life. like, i ran a pretty fun Legacy deck back in the day which consisted of:
every kind of counterspell i could get my hands on,
propaganda because FUCK creatures,
thieving magpies for the card draw,
and a few silver wyverns to, y'know, actually win the game
...and i think Miles would appreciate that deck. just play counterspells until the opponent runs out of steam & then cruise your way to victory with a couple birds. simple. elegant. classic. doesn't involve any of this modern Planeswalker bullshit (Miles regards most developments that happened to MtG post-Time Spiral block or so as affronts to game design).
(i do think Miles has a secret fondness for sagas as a card type, however. they remind him of all that Character Growth, but in an abstract/subconscious/nonthreatening way. too bad most of them are a bit of poor match for the kinds of decks he likes to play)
FINALLY: i think Miles hates playing Commander with every fiber of his being & Phoenix loves it & this is a pretty serious point of contention in their relationship. poor dudes
#when i tell you i HOWLED laughing when i got this ask. literally breathless. THANK YOU i had so much fun with it#phoenix wright#miles edgeworth#ace attorney#mtg#a few other random off-the-cuff typifications:#maya is a Timmy after my own heart. our girl is playing DINOSAURS and having the BEST TIME#franziska favors Red Deck Wins & is pissed that it's so often regarded as the n00b archetype#why wouldn't you fight fire with fire. you should fight everything with fire. etc#blackquill is a combo player so unfortunately he must be cancelled#i like to think Mia is the Michelle Bush of AA universe#(Michelle Bush: first lady to top-8 an MtG Grand Prix#and (more importantly) invented the Donate-Illusions Of Grandeur deck#which is my FAVORITE BULLSHIT DECK OF ALL TIME#and then she disappeared from the scene entirely to become a dermatologist#good for her hope she's well.)

ok but like!!! i was just thinking about how with my last ask that nick would probably be a lot closer with Apollo than feenie because Apollo’s already having A Time with “my childhood idol is two childhood idols and they both just lied to me and even though it was to avoid getting convicted for a murder they didn’t do they still had me commit perjury”
but whereas feenie feels really terrible about it and is kinda avoiding apollo, nick kinda has to get over it and keep working with apollo and apollo prefers nick because he’s not trying to apologize or be all smiley about it or pretend it was ok either, he’s just moving onto the next thing work-wise, and that’s the kind of reliability and stability that apollo needs at the moment. apollo’s sick as hell of kristoph’s fakey smiles and the ways he’s realized that kristoph is all lies, and he just wants to get some fucking cases done. and nick is all for that, even though he also feels bad, this way they don’t have to talk about it.
basically imo if trucy is more of feenie’s favorite and feenie is more trucy’s favorite then apollo is nick’s favorite and vice versa :)
just like,,, nick giving apollo compliments and apollo actually taking them and taking them well. feenie’s jealous because “how come you get to spend all the time with our adoptive son who doesn’t really actually know he’s our adoptive son” and nick going “we are literally doing lawyering besides it’s not like he’s going to bake a pie with you like trucy does and if you’re too forward you might make him suspect that trucy’s his sibling and we can’t have that secret getting out”
GRAHHH ANOTHER MEAL THANK YOU yes yes yes yes yes
Okay so like
Nick’s like “Finally! Someone as cagey as me!”
But in the end, Apollo still ends up being a pawn of sorts as Feenie and Nick fight over him, so he’s still being thrown around essentially
There’s supposed to be a sunflower in Feenie’s hair but I need to learn how to draw them better so I just didn’t on this one

My Seven Year Gap narumitsu headcanon is that not only did Miles help Phoenix build the MASON, he actually became chief prosecutor with the objective of helping him instaurate the jurist system.
By the time Trials and Tribulations comes around, I feel like the two of them are in a point in their relationship where they aren't too prone to angsting about each other. They trust each other fully. So when Phoenix pushes Miles away, Miles assumes it's for a good reason, even if it still hurts.
He does tell Miles eventually, in that mythical trip to Europe, when he knows for ceirtain Kristoph can't hear him (the guy probably keeps track of his phone calls bank accounts and has his house bugged as all hell because he's insane like that). He still doesn't tell Miles how bad he's struggling emotionally, and how the reason he's drinking so much grape juice is because he struggled with horrible depression alcoholism, particularly early in his disbarment. He just tells him about Kristoph and the Gramarye trial and how he's trying to connect the dots and find the truth and clear his name.
And you know what Edgeworth does? He tells him, "So, basically, you want to fundamentally change the way the Japanifornian justice system works. Wright, you are fucking insane. And I must be insane too because of course by god I'm going to help you." After all, foreign justice systems are his expertise. He's been studying this shit for years, and he finally gets a chance to put that knowledge to use.
It's hard for them to get any work done without Kristoph suspecting them, of course, but by some miracle they manage it. Edgeworth applies for a position as chief prosecutor a year or two before the events of Apollo Justice, explicitly because he wants to amass enough political power to implement their silly little project. When the disgraced former defense attorney comes one day with an insane outline of how to reform the entire court system no one dares to reject him, because he's already got chief prosecutor Miles Edgeworth in his pocket.
Smooth. As. Fuck.
They have spent years planning and scheming and it has finally come to this. Their professional relationship is blooming. Their personal relationship... Well, they're not in bad terms by any means but like, come on. These two are extremely emotionally repressed so it's not like they are going to openly declare their undying loyalty to each other and get married or something. But they are perfectly capable of working in harmony with each other, and that's as good as either of them think they're going to get.
I feel like this time line of events makes sense. I don't see Phoenix building MASON alone, let alone implement it. He doesn't have that sort of clout or analytical mind. But Edgeworth does. It's just a testament to how compatible they are that they are able to work together to find the truth™ and change things for the better. Shipping aside, I just think that's really cool.

Ace's All Time Best Fic Rec List (AATBFRL) April 2024: Ace Attorney
It's been a 6 months since my last list so here we go again! (I specified Ace Attorney in case I start doing this for other fandoms.) I originally planned to have all the old recs here as well but the list was too long so here's a link to the previous list. These aren't necessarily in any particular order, but if you can think of a good way for me to organize them, please let me know for future lists!
P.S. Anything rated over T mentions that immediately for your browsing convenience.
Doing more self promotion this year, so check out my pinned post or fic tag (desktop only)!
London, 2021- 7 yg Wrightworth hint of Krisnix. Phoenix is presently in London with Edgeworth. Phoenix is presently knowing that he knows about Kristoph but doesn't want to acknowledge it bc Kristoph has been really good to him and Trucy. But that doesn't matter right now bc they're going to the theatre.
if you leave the light on- 7yg Wrightworth. Nothing can happen until it's over but something Keeps happening. Miles will wait as long as it takes and Trucy decides he's part of the family.
In The Dead Of Night- During the 7yg Edgeworth invites the Wrights to Europe. Trucy has a nightmare and 'Uncle Miles' comforts her.
Phoenix's List- After getting his badge back, Phoenix has some regrets and sets about fixing what he can.
Perfect- I actually found this on another fic rec list and I can see why it was their favorite. Set towards the end of the trial of Bridge to Turnabout. TW if you have memory issues, it might be a little hard to get through parts bc of all the mindfuckery. I have to be really vague here so as not to spoil it. (Wrightworth)
Eo Nomine- Klapollo fake marriage turned real marriage but ig that's what happen when you get fake married while being real in love.
the best you'll never have- Rated M for sex reasons. I love the tagline: "Someone else's wedding is something that can actually be so personal". It's a Blackmadhi complicated relationship, what relationship, they weren't actually dating but also...
Apollo and the Artist (1975 - Oil paint, wax crayon, pencil, collage)- Rated M for mentioned sex reasons. Apollo is not an art person. But to Klavier he is art... and also a person. They've known each other for 8 years and it's probably been coming for just as long. It was a long time coming.
darling i'd wait for you (even if you didn't ask me to)- Wrightworth fake date bc Edgeworth needs a plus one to a wedding for some guy, it's not really important. But the cake sucks.
A Knight in a Loud Red Suit- oh my god oh my god oh my god Klavier gets shot and Apollo stabs a guy. And also love confessions at the hospital. They could have me also if they wanted.
Written- Rated E for sex reasons. Edgeworth moonlights as a Steel Samurai fic writer, and due to it being an obvious coping mechanism for his life and feeling Maya finds out... and accidentally sends a fic to Phoenix who... finds out. Half of the smut is Edgeworth's own fanfic, so we get like... fanfic-ception. That doesn't really work with more than one syllable words, huh...
Lover Be Good to Me- Rated M for implied sex reasons. 5+1 klapollo wooing each other.
Love Love Love- Rated M for implied sex reasons. klapollo is messy in a good way and takes wayyyy too long to call themselves boyfriends. Set from middle of aa4 to past aa6.
delicate- Rated M for sex reasons. klapollo is messy in a bad way (long distance is hard) and they break up but it works out, I prommy. If you don't like angst you'll want to skip this one, though.
(i was) enchanted to meet you- klavquill! I love them, I need to read more fics with them. They meet at the Prosecutor gala for the first time and sparks fly. Actually, they were fireworks, but that's not important.
Process of Elimination- Rated M for sex reasons. One day I will read a fic where Blackmadhi is not complicated as hell. Can they ever talk about their feelings? Apparently I like this, though, bc I keep reading and recc'ing them. Um, Nahyuta is looking for a fuck buddy and by 'process of elimination' ends up deciding on Blackquill but whoops! Feelings.
feel your skin- Rated M for one boner. Klavier is infuriating AND wearing lipgloss and Apollo can't take it. Cue making out in the janitor's closet.
moribund- I keep thinking about this one so I need everyone else to read and think about it with me. Pre Gant busting, POV Lana has to help clean up his messes. This a comedy, mostly of errors.
chronophobia- StarrSkye (AngelxLana) Be forewarned, you are going to cry. Lana has done her time and is trying to find a way to reconnect with the most important people from her past.
Crash! Landing- Junithena, fantastic traumatized autistic representation, if I do say so myself as a traumatized autistic person. It is very sweet and Juniper is a real one. I need me one of those.
In Pursuit of Justice- This one is not yet complete, but I preemptively j'adore'd it. It's a klapollo. Sebastian is great. He says Apollo looks like a frog (accurate).
Witcheln Woes- Secret Santa klapollo and they are cute and Clay is alive and it is sooooo fluffy.
Samurai Swear- Maya making besties with Edgeworth! Maya and Phoenix being besties also! Dash of mutual pining wrigthworth.
Missing You/Missing Time- Ok, hear me out, yes, the mystical bullshit tag is accurate, and de-aging is a weird concept, but !!! It actually serves this story very well! It is a fanfic that feels like a fanfic, but sometimes you want that, you know? Not every fanfic needs to feel like Little Women. Established klapollo first I love yous.
#aatbfrl#ace attorney#klapollo#wrightworth#narumitsu#blackmadhi#junithena#starrskye#klavquill#ace attoney#krisnix#i'm not listing individual characters but there are other things in here besides ship fics

pearl and maya come down to see phoenix early into the 7yg. and what do you know, kristoph is there too. phoenix introduces them as pearl studies this new man. she's come to terms w the fact that phoenix and maya arent together, but when she sees how kristoph's hand is placed on phoenix's arm something clicks. "oh! mr kris is mr nick's 'special someone'!"
phoenix goes to correct her but kristoph shushes him, "let her have a little fantasy, it's easier than correcting her anyway."
"yeah, but she'll expect us to act all couple-y in front of her." phoenix warns
kristoph raises an eyebrow, "is that all? half of my office already thinks we're an item, i dont think we'll find it difficult." it's mostly the truth, most of his office have deduced that theyre sleeping together and a few of them call phoenix "mr gavin's boyfriend" when they think he can't hear them.
and that makes phoenix pause. kristoph isn't wrong. everyone seems to think there's something going on: staff at the borscht bowl, kris's coworkers, and now pearls... fuck it, whats the harm in indulging her a little? "yeah, kristoph is my special someone" and he's gotta admit, pearls's delighted squeal makes the lie worth it.
throughout the day it's surprisingly easy to fake it, especially since maya and trucy pick up fast and play along. phoenix is thankful that theyre so smart and put up with his bullshit. even so, every time kristoph laughs at phoenix's jokes or leans into his arms he can feel trucy's gaze boring holes into his back. he doesnt know what she's looking for, but it's a relief when they put her and pearl to bed for a sleepover.
in trucy's room pearl sighs dreamily "wow, mr kris and mr nick are really, truly in love!" she's kicking her feet.
trucy hums a doubtful little "mhm..." and pearl looks worried.
"oh no, you dont sound so sure"
trucy's eyebrows are pinched together like shes thinking very very hard, "i know uncle kris likes daddy a whole lot, i KNOW he does..." she trails off.
"... but?" pearl prompts.
"i don't know! grown-ups are weird" she mumbles, frustrated. daddy and uncle kris aren't actually dating, she knows that. but they didnt seem to not like being a couple today. maybe that means they like each other? but that doesnt feel right either.
pearls pulls trucy out of her thoughts, "hey, if mr nick and mr kris are boyfriend-boyfriend does that mean you have two dads?"
trucy blinks. "uncle kris isnt like daddy," she smiles, "but if he was i think that means i have three!"
meanwhile kristoph, phoenix, and maya are in the living room. maya thanks them for saving her from a million questions about nick on the way back, and tells kristoph it was nice to meet him, it's good for nick to have a "friend" who lives near him for once. she means it.
the moment kristoph leaves maya turns to phoenix, "he's a weird guy."
phoenix smiles "he's not so bad once you get used to him. besides, he's good to trucy and i, and i appreciate that." he doesn't know why kristoph has been so kind to them, but he's in no place to question someone's generosity.
theres a pause as maya thinks, "hell, edgeworth was weird too and you were right about him. i'll trust your judgment this time, gavin seems to make you happy" a smile creeps onto her face, "so dont take 3 years to confess to this one," and she laughs as phoenix sputters and blushes.

If Jove wasn’t dead as hell, He could be a popular musician and just divorced and Klavier could just confuse Apollo for him and Apollo confuse Klavier for Kristoph and they can bond over being confused for their relatives.
Also sibling reveal of Jove going “You look like my ex wife” when trucy wears the magician outfit
Sorry I keep bothering you with it I’m insane -Ponco-Tsu
The idea of him being alive but estranged from Apollo is fairly interesting (and would be a nice diversion from the generic ace attorney dead parent trope). Apollo had no idea who Klavier was despite him being popular (and also being his boss' brother? and the guy who disbarred Phoenix?) so it's even reasonable to say Apollo would have just... deftly dodged any mention of this guy until Klavier is offhandedly like... hey you look like this musician??
That method of sibling reveal is hysterical 💀 like
"Woah, that fit's... nearly identical to what my ex-wife wore!"
"Your... ex-wife?"
"Yeah! Your mother, in fact."
"My mother."
"Mhm. Thalassa Gramarye."
"..."
[boom SFX] [screenshake] "My mother is Thalassa Gramarye?!"
And I don't mind. I don;t think there's anything in the world I enjoy more than discussing AA things and such lmaoo

The software I use at work is Not Working and I have an hour to kill before I can go home so here’s some HCs about assorted characters’ living situations bc I wanted to make notes for myself for fic purposes:
Phoenix: Used to live in a regular apartment, but moved into the apartment above Wright and Co Law offices with Trucy after his disbarment. Edgeworth paid off the building’s mortgage after Turnabout Goodbyes so Phoenix doesn’t have to worry about rent
Edgeworth: Owns a penthouse in LA. He rents hotel penthouse suites while in Europe but doesn’t have a permanent one anywhere other than LA because he thinks it’s a hassle. There’s a locked room in the LA penthouse filled with Steel Samurai merch
Gumshoe: Rents the shittiest basement studio you have ever seen. Does not own a bed. Genuinely questionable if the building is up to code (it’s prolly not)
Maya: Lived in Kurain Village until Mia’s death, then moved into the apartment above the office. After BttT she moves back to Kurain
Pearl: Lived in Kurain until her mother’s incarceration, then moved in with Maya in the upstairs apartment, then back to Kurain with Maya after BttT
Mia: Lived in Kurain Village until she founded Fey and Co law offices with Diego, at which point they moved into the apartment upstairs together until her death
Diego: Lived in a regular LA apartment until he founded Fey and Co with Mia. They moved into the upstairs apartment together until his coma. When he wakes from the coma he spends about half a year recovering in the hospital, then throughout AA3 just loiters around the courthouse because he refuses to speak to Phoenix. After BttT he goes to prison and moves in with Maya and Pearl in Kurain Village after his release
Franziska: Technically lives in the von Karma estate with her mother and sister, but is so busy traveling that she mostly stays in hotels. She used to spend holidays there, but Edgeworth has taken to inviting her to stay with him because she's not very close with the rest of her family, so now her room is mostly just storage.
Ema: Her and Lana lived in their parents’ house together until Lana’s imprisonment, during which Ema moves to Europe with an exchange family. When Ema returns from Europe, she moves back into the house with Lana joining her when she’s released
Apollo: He lived on the road with Thalassa and Jove until the latter’s death, then with Dhurke in the countryside, then in an American orphanage until he was 18, at which point I imagine he crashes on Clay’s couch for most of law school because he is technically an orphaned illegal immigrant with absolutely no money or credit. The internship with Kristoph and his job with the WAA gets him enough money to actually rent a place, but his lack of documentation and student loans mean he’s in the cheapest possible apartment. He keeps it extremely neat but there's only so much one can do. He and gumshoe can commiserate about it.
Trucy: Lived mostly on the road / in the tourbus + hotels with her dad and the troupe until she was adopted by Phoenix, at which point she moved into the apartment above the WAA
Klavier: Lived in his parents’ mansion with Kristoph until going to Themis. When he moved back he had enough money from gigging / his band to buy a fancy ass house and still lives there. It’s a little lonely by himself but when he let Daryan throw parties there it was POPPIN
Kristoph: Lived in his parents’ mansion his entire life. He got ownership of it when they died and raised Klavier in it, and continued to live there until he got arrested. Now he’s cushy in solitary cell 13
Athena: Lived in the space center then was shipped off to European relatives when her mom died. When she moved back to the states she got a decent apartment bc her WAA income was supplemented by those rich as hell European relatives
Simon: Lived in a small apartment with his sister growing up, which he continued to live in after she moved to the Space Center. It was sold when he was incarcerated. After his release he moved in with Athena briefly (no one thought it was a good idea for him to live alone) then to a small but nice apartment, which Edgeworth paid for until he could get back on his feet financially

can u explain the 'kris killed the gavin parents' hc , or is it js 'hes evil and killer so'? Also i'd like to hear motive!!! (Also yaauy npd kristoph mention on your blog :3)
At least part of it is how fucked up the Gavins' backstory is implied to be. Klavier implies that even up to Turnabout Succession, he was under Kristoph's control in some manner (he specifically asks Kristoph if he's spinning out of his own control or Kristoph's). I've mentioned it a few times but Klavier seems to have had a pretty good opinion of Kristoph during Zak's trial, but that opinion changed at some point before Turnabout Succession's main story, and even during Turnabout Succession's 2026 sections, Klavier's begging for proof that Kristoph attempted murder and commissioned forged evidence, implying even during the 2026 sections of Turnabout Succession, he doesn't want to believe Kristoph's as shitty as he's being accused of being (and this is confirmed when Klavier says himself he wanted to believe Kristoph).
Additionally, Klavier has one hell of a fawn response to Kristoph exclusively. I analyzed it a lot more in-depth here, but basically Klavier defaults to going along with what Kristoph says while Kristoph's on the witness stand. Fawning like that, especially to the degree Klavier does it, is usually a trauma response (it's not always but the vast majority of the time it is, as far as I can tell). He doesn't respond to conflict with anyone else this way; under any other circumstances, he defaults to a fight response (for example, when conflict arises with Daryan, he tends to get into arguments with him, and he's pretty aggressive during both Turnabout Serenade and Turnabout Academy. This results in him taking out his emotions on Apollo and Athena in Turnabout Academy, although Apollo gets the brunt of it). Klavier's fawn response is so intense, in fact, that Trucy and Apollo mention it multiple times.
TL;DR for that specifically, Klavier and Kristoph's dynamic stands out enough as Fucked Up to me that I think there must be some equally as Fucked Up history between them. There could be worse than Kristoph killing his and Klavier's parents, but considering how Kristoph is, I think just Kristoph killing his parents would be enough to irreparably fuck up his and Klavier's relationship, which brings me to his motive.
I actually think Kristoph's motive for killing his parents is similar to what I think could've been Excelsius's motive for killing Eustace's mom (which is just implied but I 100% think Excelsius killed Eustace's mom). It would take away avenues for Klavier to ask for help when/if Kristoph started abusing and/or manipulating him, if he wasn't already (and it's worth noting that there's a pretty decent chance he was, because a kid's formative years are the first 8 years of life).
I also think it's worth noting that red flags for NPD start showing quite early. I think there's a chance Klavier and Kristoph's parents noticed this, then tried to get him help and he refused. I think it's 100% possible Kristoph was so peeved about it that it became a motive for murder (and we know his motives for his crimes tend to be petty or fueled by paranoia. If his parents implied that his behavior was a problem, and he got upset enough, in Kristoph's case specifically it could absolutely become a motive for murder).
Klavier's age might've also been a factor. Kristoph and Klavier are 8 years apart; Klavier's 24 in AJ:AA, and Kristoph's 32. With this 8 year age gap in mind, and the fact that red flags for NPD start showing early, I wouldn't be surprised if Kristoph got jealous of the attention Klavier was getting and killed their parents in retaliation. Why wouldn't he kill Klavier instead of his parents if that was the case? As an adult, Kristoph exhibits a desire to be the center of attention (although to a lesser extent to Klavier), and this trait probably would've been well-developed by the time he was a teenager. Going back to how child development works, your personality is usually fully developed by age 8. Assuming Kristoph embraced the traits he had that negatively impacted other people from a young age, he probably got a lot worse as he became a teenager due to the lack of intervention.
This also brings me back to Kristoph and Excelsius parallels. Excelsius used Eustace to build up his own ego and emotionally abused and manipulated him to keep him close. I wouldn't be surprised if this was Kristoph's reason for keeping Klavier around, especially because this seems to be part of why he kept Apollo around. I don't think Kristoph's reasoning for keeping Apollo around was anything genuine. At best, Kristoph was keeping Apollo around to boost his ego (as Apollo does look up to Kristoph, which is why he's so torn over loyalty at one point in Turnabout Trump) and at worst, Kristoph was keeping Apollo around to genuinely train him for nefarious reasons. Kristoph takes Apollo listening to Phoenix's testimony as a personal betrayal, and tries to emotionally manipulate him into standing down (his specific dialogue there is "Et tu, Justice? You would betray me, your teacher?").
We know Klavier trusted Kristoph, even looked up to him, during Zak's trial; he kept Kristoph anonymous when he mentioned the prosecutor's office getting a tip about forged evidence, and trusted him at his word. Klavier is either the worst judge of character in the entire franchise or Kristoph manipulated him into thinking he wasn't the piece of shit he is.
ANYWAY. Klavier and Kristoph's dynamic is Fucked Up enough that I think something had to have happened at some point to cause Klavier's quite extreme fawn response and I don't think Klavier is that bad a judge of character. We even see how he decides to trust people BEFORE he's betrayed by Daryan or Kristoph, and in Daryan's case, mention is made of him seeing an opportunity and taking it, so it's not like he's a consistent criminal like Kristoph is. Daryan probably didn't have as many red flags, if any, while Kristoph very likely did, and Klavier was conscientious enough to realize something was off about Kristoph knowing Phoenix was going to present forged evidence.
I very much think he could've been motivated by his ego and desire for attention to kill his parents. An 8-9 year old is going to get more attention than a 16-17 year old, and I don't think the chance of him killing his parents and taking in Klavier, who, at the age of 8 or 9, would be a perfect pawn for him, would be lost on him. When Kristoph was a teenager, Klavier was at the right age for Kristoph to essentially be able to shape him into whatever he thought would be most useful to him; in this case, he could've shaped Klavier into someone who wouldn't question him and would essentially go along with whatever he wanted (which could explain why Klavier basically lets Kristoph do his job for him for a time in Turnabout Succession). Kristoph very likely fed off the attention he'd inevitably get from raising Klavier, and Klavier wouldn't (and didn't) realize anything's wrong until he's older.
So basically: my reasoning is Kristoph and Klavier's dynamic being all kinds of fucked up, which includes the implication that Kristoph manipulated Klavier into never questioning him (which I don't think he would've been able to do if their parents were around, although I do acknowledge there could be other explanations for this, such as Kris and Klav's parents being neglectful), and I think Kris's motive would've been a combination of his ego and a desire for attention that he refused to get help for.
#jinx stop turning what could have been a simple answer into a fucking essay challenge: impossible#anyway this is over 1k words. i didnt mean for it to be this long. i don't know if i phrased everything properly#but there's my thoughts behind why kristoph would kill his parents#i will reiterate like i did with the kristoph npd essay: i am not blaming kristoph's npd for this. i am blaming him for refusing help#i am blaming him for deciding to embrace his symptoms instead of getting help for them. do not misconstrue my intentions here#anyway time to make some soup and restart my laptop so i can continue drawing beagle ema because krita hates me#ace attorney#ace attorney analysis#character analysis#kristoph gavin#klavier gavin#tw murder#tw manipulation#tw child abuse

I've been thinking a lot about DCU stuff and Ace Attorney thoughts got mixed in by accident, because it's got a lot of the same themed, colorful character designs and silly pun names. So, of course, I started immediately daydreaming about a DCU-style Superhero AU for Ace Attorney. (I often do not fully control what I think about.)
And then I was like, "I think I just finally have to play Ace Attorney at this point, before I get stuck in a weird daydream loop because I don't know enough about the plot to worldbuild properly. I will let this be the final push to just start these games."
Based on my extremely limited knowledge (I have only actually played 2 episodes of the first game), here are my Superhero AU thoughts so far. I don't like 1-1 character role match-ups in general when I fuse worlds, so none of these AA characters are fully aligned with any particular DCU character.
Phoenix Wright would make a good speedster, I think. This is partially because of the spiky hair, but also because there's a terrible irony to being the fastest man in the world who keeps being too late to stop certain tragedies. It also suits the way he's apparently never properly prepared for anything but also quickly manages to pull through. He's probably still a defense attorney in his civilian identity. (In accordance with later games, he has to stop being a superhero for several years when he's framed for a crime.)
Besides Phoenix's mentor Mia, who is also both a superhero and a lawyer, ordinary civilian Larry Butz is the only person who initially knows that Phoenix has superpowers. He honestly hasn't told anyone Phoenix's secret identity! But Larry also somehow gets into more scrapes and "damsel in distress" situations than Lois Lane and he's not even an investigative reporter.
Mia Fey, Maya Fey, and Pearl Fey have a Shazam situation, I think, in which they transform into a "Mystic Champion" magically empowered by the ghosts of their ancestors. Like a Shazam & Danny Phantom fusion. Mia Fey was the first in her family to become a publicly known superhero. A lot of people don't know that it's not the original Mystic Champion (same face and same superpowered form as Mia, which breaks Phoenix's heart a little every time) until Maya or Pearl transforms back into a regular girl after the fight is over.
I think Miles Edgeworth is a Batman type hero, but one still partially ensnared by Manfred von Karma, who is his Ra's al Ghul. (This makes Franziska into Talia, but there is definitely nothing romantic there.) Maybe he does have superpowers of some kind, maybe not, and he could still potentially be a prosecutor. He doesn't have a Brucie persona, though. Phoenix is not impressed by Edgeworth's harsh and even cruel approach to vigilante work. (Steel Samurai was Miles' Gray Ghost or Zorro hero inspiration, I'm guessing.)
Gumshoe is Miles' Commissioner Gordon figure and doesn't know his secret identity yet. He's either going to learn in the middle of a really bad situation or he's just going to straight-up figure it out himself one day and scare the hell out of Miles.
I'm still thinking about characters like Kristoph and Klavier Gavin, Apollo Justice, and Trucy Wright, but I don't know enough about them to fully flesh these thoughts out yet. I think the Gavins would make good Kryptonian equivalents (a cold and calculating Superman and a rockstar Supergirl), Apollo might make a good Wonder Girl equivalent (his bracelet becomes a Lasso of Truth) as the lost son of an Amazon, and Trucy would obviously be fun as a Zatanna type of hero.

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 35 (Parental Guidance)
A few nights after Malcolm's visit, Heather took Ash to see his grandparents at her childhood home in Henford. On arrival, she was greeted with the joyous news that Cassandra was expecting her and River’s first child!
She let her predicament take a backseat as the family sat down to dinner, and she didn't want to tell her parents she was seriously overthinking an old tale about a curse. But as she gathered the empty plates at the end of the meal, her mother could see something was bothering her. At Daisy's urging, Heather confessed what she'd done.
"I hacked into Landgraab Systems to crash the app they stole from me, and I thought I was going to be arrested."
"Arrested?! Buttercup, what the hell were you thinking?" Her dad, Neal, tried not to sound as disappointed as he felt.
Her brother, on the other hand, offered her a fistbump. "Right on! Screw the Landgraabs."
Cassandra shook her head, but couldn't wipe the smile from her face around her husband. "River, she could have gone to prison!"
"I know it was stupid," Heather insisted. "I told the detective the truth but the Landgraabs ended up not pressing charges. Not yet, anyway."
"What do you mean 'not yet?'"
"I mean Malcolm came by the other day and offered me a deal. He'll give me 40,000 simoleons for our son if I change his last name to Landgraab and file a custody agreement. They're also willing to let me buy out the clinic if I can come up with another 175,000. But they won't sell if I don't make Ash a Landgraab."
"That's a steep price," said Daisy cautiously.
"It's a steal from the Landgraabs," her father muttered, frowning. "We don't have that kind of money."
"You helped me with the down payment for the clinic in the first place. I don't know what to do but I won't ask you that."
Her parents exchanged careful glances. "You may not want to hear this, but you cost yourself a lot of leverage and the offer may be too good to turn down," said her mother. Her father nodded reluctantly in agreement, embracing his daughter with a comforting hug.
"I was hoping you wouldn't say that."

"You want independence from the Landgraabs financially, and this is a fair way to do it," reasoned her brother. "Besides, if Malcolm's finally ready to embrace his role as a father I think, deep down, you want that for your son, despite your own feelings about him. And why wouldn't you? We had a great dad; everyone should be so lucky! Ash, too."
Heather looked at her younger brother with a smile. "When did you get so wise?"
"You only think I'm wise because you're a butthead, Butts."

With her family’s support, she sent Malcolm the paperwork confirming their son was a Landgraab in name, and he transferred the lump sum payment as promised. ->
<- Previous Chapter | Gen 2 Start | Gen 1 Summary | Gen 1 Start
NOTE: I'm really sorry to those who didn't want Heather to change his last name, but I really wanted there to be a big consequence for the hack. I wasn't feeling a prison storyline and this is the next worst-case scenario. In my head she didn't have room to negotiate after the hack (the proof exists even if Conrad chose not to reveal it, but he's too honest a cop to delete the evidence) and it was an all-or-nothing deal.
NOTE 2: I know I'm loading this story with characters but Heather is so close with her family I can't leave them behind in Gen 1, even if I wanted to. Neal gave them their nicknames when each of them were born, like a tradition, picking various plants, mostly yellow, due to yellow being one of Daisy's favourite colours. But a quick rundown on Heather and her siblings-
Heather "Buttercup" Nesbitt b. 2025 - Ash (Nesbitt) Landgraab b. 2050 (son of Malcolm) Holly "Daffodil" (Nesbitt) Bell b. 2027 m. Kristopher "Kris" Bell (son of premades Michael Bell & Cecilia Kang) River "Huckleberry" Nesbitt b. 2029 m. Cassandra Goth Hazel "Dandelion" Nesbitt b. 2033 currently dating Nicola Moody-McMillan, the daughter of premade Kim Goldbloom and a random townie. Nicola's grandfathers were Kim's adoptive dads (via MCCC), Ian Moody & Derek McMillan but they died in a riverboat cruise disaster (off-screen because the game culled them unexpectedly).
Since I put dates in to show the age differences in the siblings, for those who care it's about 2051 in game right now. Heather is 26 and Ash is not yet 2. The year won't really mean anything, it's not a historical or futuristic challenge, but I like to keep track.
Also yes I'm going for sometimes-obnoxious sibset theming with names in this save. The theme in Gen 1 was flowers and plants (Daisy was a botanist but Neal achieved Outdoor Enthusiast so he's big into nature, herbalism and sustainability as an eco-civil designer). River got his slightly off-theme name because I wanted to use it, and the River Bagley IS a prominent feature in Henford, after all! But I'm sorry about all the H names, it's a lot!
Kris & Holly and Nicola & Hazel (who looks like Heather with blue eyes and w/o glasses), since River & Cass are above:
