Fancasting The Secret History
sharing my vision of who could play these classics students
Tumblr media
i tried to be as realistic as possible, considering their book descriptions and casting actors close in age to each other and their characters. after seeing so many of the same names in these fancasts, i wanted to throw some new ones in the mix!
Tumblr media
henry's a big guy, dark-haired, square-jawed, bespectacled — he basically looks like clark kent/superman. so my thought process went to henry cavill look-alike, jamie flatters (b. 2000). coincidentally, my old fancast was david corenswet, so i guess it all checks out. i only know jamie from avatar: the way of water, but based on his music videos, i think he's got the acting chops to capture henry's more unhinged side that he lets slip idk
Tumblr media
to me, bunny is the most american out of the group because of his family background, it's even described as "an upbringing vitally present in Bunny in every respect, from the way he shook your hand to the way he told a joke." saw this rudy pankow (b. 1998) casting suggestion on mycast and it just made total sense to me. having watched him as jj maybank in outer banks, i know he can capture how obnoxious bunny can be, and he'll do well trying to annoy every character and pushing their buttons.
Tumblr media
admittedly, this was a hard one because i originally had tom glynn-carney in mind but i wanted someone younger, so i didn't go too far and went with ty tennant (b. 2002) who's played the younger version of his characters twice now. i mean if you think about it, aegon ii targaryen and charles have a couple things in common: both are alcoholics and have an incestuous relationship with their sister 😭 since charles and camilla look androgynous and described as angels, i figured ty looks the part. i also believe in ty's acting skills to portray charles' complexity as the story goes on.
Tumblr media
i thought of young actresses who resembled ty and went with thomasin mckenzie (b. 2000), who i loved in jojo rabbit and last night in soho. i know thomasin would look good as a blonde, but more importantly, she's got the face for period dramas. camilla is enigmatic, but i think richard just saw her as like an ingénue, so i figured thomasin can do that layered performance.
Tumblr media
thought and long hard for who to cast as francis because i'm so tired of seeing the same redhead actors or some random redhead model 😭 thank goodness luther ford (b. 1999/2000) has been discovered. his portrayal in the crown sold me because it was very francis of him to just sit around drinking booze and smoking while dressed in modern princely clothing.
Tumblr media
another inspired casting suggestion i saw on mycast — physically, i think dominic sessa (b. 2002) truly fits the bill; i like that he's not your conventionally good-looking guy too. acting-wise, he was incredible in the holdovers. and i believe he could put so much more personality to richard papen's character.
might make a part 2 for other characters like julian morrow and judy poovey :> thanks for checking this out and let me know if you see the vision!
p.s. it's never gonna happen but it'd be interesting to just see this set of actors get together because they seem like a bunch of introverts 😭 they might bond over taking film photos of each other though so that's cool

Also before I type up my manifesto abt everything I didn't like about the last ep I think its good to talk about the stuff I did generally like from this season
- Harrenhal and the magic surrounding it. More pls.
- Alyn Velaryons characterisation. Loved him telling off his dad with what was clearly years of abandonment issues and rage backing it up
- Larys Strong and Aegons acting. Imo Tom Glynn Carney does some of the best work of the entire season
- Generally all the side characters. I think they're much more consistently characterised when the show writers aren't worried about us liking them or them making a character they like look bad (why are we retroactively canonizing Viserys again?)
-Phia Saban at Jaehaerys' funeral. Absolutely didn't like how quickly they glossed over her grief and how she's apparently fine (and capable of?!!?) Astrally projecting into Daemons dreams and chilling with the dude who gave the order to behead her kid but Phias work at the funeral was top notch.
- Ulf. My silly rabbit. You are such a goofy little goose and it won't end well for you
- the dragons!!! U can tell they rlly studied animals to nail down the mannerisms because they actually felt real to me.

I h/c human Ink as being Mediterranean (maybe mixed) race, but he moved to Paris or wherever for art school. Since Ink is canonically French! He has autism, ADHD, alexythemia and petit mal seizures (absences)
he has lots of animals!! Ferrets, guinea pigs, lizards and rabbits. And he constantly sews neckerchiefs and hammocks for them.
And his dads Ahëran and Glynn adopted him after he attempted suicide (him ripping his soul out) and while it took him a while to open up to them, he now feels really safe around them. And their husky Betel, and Ahëran's barn owls are his pets too lol.
An interesting headcanon concept!
I’m honestly not a fan of humanizing nonhuman characters (I think it ruins their charm, especially if you just- change their whole life’s storyline to be “normal”) but this is a neat take.

stop- i just found a super old fic (started in 2020 and literally only have character descriptions & like 4 aesthetics so it will most definitely NOT be released) where it was ouat, but expanding on the wonderland universe where there was an original queen of hearts and all that stuff where it was good and cora is the reason it sucks now (i had like different alice, the door mice, chesire, etc)
anyways, main point, i casted the white rabbit as tom glynn-carney. who now is known as the beautiful shit stain that is aegon ii…
the way i absolutely belly laughed when i saw that- bc genuinely, i casted him bc he was under “white hair” in a face claim book and i was like “heh. he’s perfect. SCORE.”

i was tagged by @jkjms and @permanentmochakisses  ヽ(‘ ∇‘ )ノ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
tagged by @jkjms thank youuuu~ •ᴥ•
favourite color(s): black, purple, blue, pink (I used to hate pink when I was a teen, because it's ~girly~ but I'm an adult now and pink is awesome).
currently reading: nothing at the moment, but I have 4 books on hold (I started reading them, but for whatever reason had to pause), they are: House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, My Lovely Wife by Samantha Downing, Anxious People by Fredrik Backman and The 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade (will i ever finish this book? i think i started it in 2018, but it's so hard to get through).
last movie: Vicious Fun (2020). It's nothing special, but I didn't hate it.
last tv series: Beyond Evil (2021). Written and directed by women, which is always nice. Shin Ha-kyun and Yeo Jin-goo blew me away. @loxxxlay and @thelightofthingshopedfor both tagged everyone in this, and writing answers to it is easier than actually writing soooo
Top 3 ships: I mean, Loki & Thor (Brodinsons, not Thorki), but that’s not really a ship I guess. Froststrange became my OTP in record time, and I would probably say Weyoun/Eris from DS9.
Lipstick or chapstick: I love lipstick, but I hardly ever wear it, so I suppose chapstick, which I use at least once a day.
Last movie seen: Well, I watched “Doctor Strange” and half of “Thor: Ragnarok” on New Years Eve, does that count? In theaters it was “Jojo Rabbit.”
Last song listened: “Nevermind” by Jess Glynne.
Reading: “The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: My Best Friend’s Squirrel” because, obvs, Loki. Though I’m actually enjoying it much more than I thought I would. I should read actual books again at some point.
I tag everyone!

spn 12x11, liveblog, collected posts (all 27 of them) or as i like to call it: Amnesia Time... Could be a really great episode if they had decided not to throw in a cheap rape joke!
Witches… probably.
Awww Dean with the cute little rabbit awwww
Dean is really weird in this episode… ufff
The fact that Dean tries to explain away the fact that he just apparently got blackout drunk, but can’t remember anything… is yikes.
#like how often does that happen?
Why do they call Jack “Lucifer’s love child?” Yikes. Gross way to phrase it…
#considering it was rape…..
Also what is epic about a night you can’t remember?
#like????
The fact that Sam sees his brother get more and more confused and he doesn’t immediately wonder if maybe Dean either has a terrible concussion, or a stroke or something that is seriously messing him up right now, even without supernatural interference is… weird
#also don’t let him drive!!!
“I’m not gonna apologize for loving that fish. Not to you, not to anyone.” Yeah, you tell em Dean!
#dory is great I love her!!!
“This is a gun, this is a coat, this is… a.. uh.. light stick!”
#lamb. Right. so close.
“Did his hair fall out? From the neck own, is he smooth like a Ken doll?”
Sam, looking absolutely disgusted at the idea: “I don’t know and I’m not checking either.”
#asdfhh #like Sam that does not immediately mean Check His Pubes #how about armpit hair chest hair leg hair #like you have seen each other in boxers before #hmmm idk this episode seems weird to me #might be bc im going from great yockey episode to Glynn?  #and this is only her second episode #and the hitler one wasn’t good either #but anyway the characters feel… off to me #like seriously weird
The fact that the woman finds out Dean may potentially have been roofied and even feels guilty for taking advantage of him (which not her fault, but if something like that happened to me I would feel guilty and disgusting so im glad it’s brought up) but instead of course it’s played for laughs, because we all know men cannot be sexually assaulted
#:-) FUCK OFF #like dean is just like normalizing it to himself again #which sucks cause like yikes but it does make sense with his character and the way he reacts to sexualized violence #but sam? Some compassion here?
And yeah, more sex jokes… which fit great with the fact that Dean might have been /drugged/ while it happened… Yikes
Oh great! Really cool! So Sam you find out your brother might have been cursed with something that messes with his brain… and had sex under that spell… and you call it comedy? Awesome.
Fuck off.
#glynn imma fight you #especially cool since Sam was just raped under the influence of magic… so him calling this funny sure is great! #im gonna have a panic attack over here
Honestly Sam bringing Dean on a hunt when Dean is currently losing his memory and more useless than even a civilian ever could be? Why? That’s dangerous!
Dean is so fascinated by Rowena’s hair asdfgh
#cute
Oh man Jensen’s acting of off the charts in this scene
#my, my na- my name is
Asdfh nice voodoo doll
#and dean just pocking it in the face #so that’s why people have migraines
Rowena’s disgusted face
#I love her!!!!
Rowena using Dean to show weakness bc she knows hes not gonna remember it asdghjk
#and the nose boop
Why the fuck does Sam have his phone on speaker? Asdfg
#oh ok for them to listen in that’s smart #but you should still turn the sound down so in case dean forgets and speaks they will hear you
“Right to our doorstep. Hot and fresh, like Pizza” asdfghj
Asdfgh when Dean finally forgets how to read he can just look at the Stay sign, tear it down, and say “this sign won’t stop be, because I can’t read.”
Oh ewww, I don’t like that rude ass witch, but I am getting more and more concerned about Rowena and her life before becoming a powerful witch
#she offered herself to each of those witches? Yikes. Not good consent. #and with the Cat emphasizing that she was a ‘little girl’ this just gets worse and worse
Asdfgh the grenade thrower labeled with a No
#nice cause Dean would have taken it otherwise
Dean with the note that says witch-killing bullets and just smiling all smug
I love him!
#sometimes I do love dean Winchester
If the witch had acted a bit faster, Dean might have shot his brother ufff
#yikes
They just really had to include a montage with Dean riding Larry…
#not that I fault them for it #the fans would have killed them if they hadn’t gotten it

The Ferryman is Absolutely Incredible!
I was literally so stunned after the show that I couldn’t move for a solid three minutes
Tumblr media
There is a sign outside the marquee that says “Astonishing!” and that’s really the best way to sum up this show.
Oh Jez Butterworth, how I doubted you. Contrary to popular opinion I wasn’t a huge fan of Jerusalem. I had heard The Ferryman was amazing but I also heard Jerusalem was amazing and I didn’t really like Jerusalem at all.
But The Ferryman is some next level amazing.
This is such a rich treasure trove of a play. There are so many layers to it and so many complexities and allusions and bits and pieces that tie it all together that make it such a wonderful patchwork quilt of a story.
It’s a play about family, but it’s also a play about justice. It’s a play about history and retribution and the pain and grief that comes with it. It’s a play about unfinished business and how much that weighs on you. How if you don’t resolve all the shit that’s weighing on you then you’ll keep passing it on through generations. The fact that a lot of the characters are very very young is distinctly troubling but also hopeful in a way? It’s a completely devastating play but after getting to know the children so well I have a hope that they are able to move forward.
Personally, I also think this is a play about legacy. Throughout the play different characters echo those in their past, present and future. The children start to resemble their parents and those around them. Vice versa, the parents and grandparents start to resemble children. Much is talked of the past and the future, with my favorite line in the entire play being, “I love you more than the future.” Time seems to intermingle in this play, with characters having fixations on what has happened and what is still to come. There is so much about heritage and the way people grow and change over time and with at least half the characters being children themselves wondering who they’ll grow up to be. I see this in all of the Carney daughters but especially in JJ and Michael Carney and Shane Corcoran.
There are twenty-two characters in this play, not including the live rabbit and goose, but you feel like you know each and every one of them very well by the end of the play. Butterworth has somehow managed to make you care about every single character.
All of the characters were fascinating and I won’t talk about each and every character but I do want to talk about a few.
Shane Corcoran was fascinating to me because I didn’t really understand why the Corcoran brothers were in the play until act three. That Act Three opening scene with the Corcorans and the elder Carney brothers JJ and Michael was such a fascinating character study that doubled as an Irish history lesson. There was a palpable fire in that scene in all the characters, Shane and Michael especially. It felt dangerous. It felt like something was about to break any second. The entire play I thought that Michael was the firebrand, continuing on his father’s legacy, but in this scene my ideas of him were totally flipped around.
Oisin (pronounced Osh-ee-n) Carney was a very interesting character to me as well because I knew immediately that he wasn’t a part of the immediate family entirely based on how he held himself and where he chose to stand. There was this darkness about him that was so hard to pin down but he was so complex and layered and there was this fear about him that was fascinating.
The older characters in the play, Uncle Patrick Carney, Aunt Maggie Far Away and Aunt Pat all felt younger than the actual children in the play. They talked almost like they were part of some different fairytale world and talked mostly of when they themselves were very young. They felt ageless like they’d never really grown up because they’d never confronted their emotional baggage.
The true heart of this play truly is Quinn Carney and Caitlin Carney in how much they clash and how well they work together and how much grief each of them carry everyday. There was a distinct amount of pain that was clearly felt from each of them, but also so much joy when they’re around each other. Both of these characters were so complex and skirted the line of past, present and future. Where the kids were focused on the future and the older characters on the past, Quinn and Caitlin are able to toe the line of all three - especially the present. They are the only characters who are focused on the now and what it means to be present in all definitions of the word,
There is so much to unpack about this play, especially these great themes of harvest and abundance contrasted with violence and unrest. So much is talked of bounty, both in living and dead things. There is the sense of plentifulness in the play, and a feeling of everything always being full. There is a physically fullness on the stage, of course contrasted with the emptiness everyone feels. Likewise, when discussion of the Ferryman Charon of Greek myth is discussed, there is talk of a lot of souls just waiting to be taken to the underworld. There’s so many of them, but of course they’re just empty and hollow because of their unrest, their unfinished business.
I think tomorrow I’m going to go to the Drama Book Shop and pick up a copy of the play because I just want to read and annotate the whole thing and get more and more from it.
As for the production itself (and wow it’s taken me this long to get there), everything is amazing. The set, the lighting, the sound? All fantastic. The direction? Excellent. There is a lot to be juggled here and Sam Mendes does it exquisitely. His stage pictures, especially how he ended each act, was stunning. How he chose to place each character said far more than words ever could. He handled exposition simply in where and how people stood, which was remarkable.
I don’t know what the Tonys are gonna do because everyone in this cast could and should win. Laura Donnelly (Caitlin Carney) and Paddy Considine (Quinn Carney) are amazing. I can’t believe this is Considine’s first theatre role because he’s a natural up there. Laura Donnelly walked away with this whole show - she was utterly brilliant.
Rob Malone (Oisin Carney) and Tom Glynn-Carney (Shane Corcoran) are also fantastic and bring a lot of depth and fear to their roles.
Niall Wright (JJ Carney) and Fra Fee (Michael Carney) were truly impressive in Act Three.
The kids Matilda Lawler (Honor Carney), Willow McCArthy (Mercy Carney), Brooklyn Shuck (Nunu Carney) and Michael Quinton McArthur (Declan Corcoran) were all fantastic and have so much talent for kids so young.
Fionnula Flanagan (Aunt Maggie Far Away) and Dearbhla Molloy (Aunt Pat) were absolutely wonderful.
I could go on but I’ve literally named half the cast at this point.
Yes, this is a three hour play. I know the length may scare some people off but it truly doesn’t feel long at all. At the first intermission my first thought was, “But wait I just sat down!” Also! Rush tickets are so easy to get! I showed up at 9 and my friend and I were the only other people there really till like 9:30 and even then there were only like 6 people in line.
Believe the hype about this one. Even more, this play exceeds it. The whole thing is completely thrilling.

13x14: Use Your Words!!!
Cas looks so resigned :’(
Tumblr media
This is what I meant when I said Dean has to keep that closet door OPEN. He may be willing to compromise, listen to, and understand (yeah, progress) Cas’ chest-shattering soldier stance on ending the war instead of ungraciously rebuffing what he did to Donatello (though Dean’s not aware that Cas did it “for you”), but Cas BELIEVES Dean doesn’t reciprocate his feelings. He’s still carrying around the residual sadness and paranoia instilled in him by Empty!Cas. Cas believes there truly is fucking nothing for him on Earth since DEAN WON’T DISCLOSE ANYTHING TO HIM–THE TRUTH ABOUT WHY HE GRIEVED, about why he was ready to leave his own brother behind, the suicidal ideation, the festering self-deconstruction, anger, the pessimism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(god, that stupid bag).
I literally held my breath, because for a moment, a singular moment of crackling anticipation, I hoped Dean could finally terminate the NEED and confess, embrace the WANT.
Then–
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ll never get over Cas’ face (in fact, this scene was verbally/visually reminiscent of–)
Tumblr media
(I know, I said Dean was LEARNING to refer to himself and his respective emotions, learning to use I vs We, and he IS learning, but I also said Dean possesses niggling fears. What if he loses Cas again? This is his greatest fear, which explains why Dean the Scared Rabbit scurried back to his comfy safe burrow of pluralities instead of playing, spending time, talking to Cas the Pheonix outside. And in both above scenarios, they are interrupted. Dean is interrupted from leaving his burrow. Interrupted by what? Another apocalypse. Another end of the world. Another day, another Will They, another Won’t They. He’ll keep darting in and out of his burrow until Something gives—-the Big Endgame Something).
Like others have said already, Dean’s answer yanked any smidge of remaining hope out of Cas’ heart. Dean ripped off the bandaid for him. AGAIN. CAS THINKS HE’S EXPENDABLE–personally reduced to nothing else but a weapon, a tool, a gun that is discarded later. PAINFUL narrative symmetry carrying over from 13x13. Jfc Glynn!!! As I mentioned in this post:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cas = ‘tool’ for the Winchesters: expendability –> when they don’t need Ketch anymore, what happens to him? Dean has indirectly told Cas previously that he’s not expendable ie 12x12 “Let’s go home” but it ain’t enough—-he must be 100% direct and tell Cas why he’s different…why Cas means way more to him.
If Dean wants Cas to STAY, to stop going away as a SOLDIER on a mission (when he is NOT a soldier but a beloved brother, son, father, lover), he must USE HIS WORDS—the right words—and I just can’t deal with all this miscommunicative storytelling angst right now ;-;

Ten Songs Tag
It's never going to cease to surprise me when people tag me to do these things 😮 thanks again teacup-universes.
Because of the fact I was brought up listening to an eclectic array of different music, I’ve found I can at least appreciate most genres. My favourites though are mainly alternative/folksy or have some sort of cinematic feel to them.
I will obsessively listen to video game soundtracks and movie scores too but I won’t be including them here cause most of the time my feelings for them are inextricably linked with the media they’re from.
Not going to lie I might just do this again with the 10 soundtrack songs I’m obsessed with right now as well.
In terms of this list I’ll keep it to one song per artist. I think I’m gonna sound really basic but here we go anyway...
list ten songs you’re obsessed with right now and then tag ten blogs
Rabbit Heart (Raise it up) Florence and The Machine
Charley’s Girl Lou Reed
Life in Technicolor ii Coldplay (seen them live twice within two years, and sobbed like a baby each time)
Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself Jess Glynne
Make Them Gold CHVRCHES
Darkness At The Door Editors
Green Light Lorde
Danse Macabre the oh hello’s
Green and Gold Lianne La Havas (have also seen her live, she’s incredibly underrated imo)
Send Them Off Bastille
now the real question is who I’m going to tag... guess it’s going to have to be @the-wandering-avarian @wheres-the-pool-ladder @aokayinspace @lexophilicace @bigwinged @fitzfox @sexysnoith @ace-of-anxiety @naw-sexual and @sophiesreads
don’t judge me too harshly, and I hope you enjoy doing this as much as I did :)

I was tagged by the lovely @madigriffen
A — age: 22
B — birthplace: England
C — current time: 19:34
D — drink you last had: Pepsi
E — easiest person to talk to: my mum, my two best friends and my fiancee
F — favorite songs: my current faves are If You’re Over Me by Years & Years, I’ll Be There by Jess Glynn, Shotgun and Paradise by George Ezra. My all time fave is probably Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield, I can sing that song until I die.
G — grossest memory: Maybe that time I stepped in dog poo barefooted...House breaking a puppy is not fun guys.
H — horror, yes or no: yes and no? I love the feeling of being scared but I hate watching horror movies so I spend the whole time covering my face but enjoying the feeling of being scared. Yes, I am a weirdo.
I — in love: Yes
J — jealous of people: I used to be soooo jealous of anyone who was doing well in life like with money and nice things but I’ve learnt to be happy for other people success’s and be grateful for what I have. However sometimes I can get jealous of really pretty and skinny girls but that’s because I’m really insecure about my appearance.
K — kissed: I’m engaged so I get kissed quote often but before my fiancee I’d only kissed 3 other boys and the first one was a truth or dare and lasted for like a quarter of a second so I’m not sure that counts.
L — love at first sight or walk by again? Love at first sight
M — middle name: Marie, I’m not fond of my first name so I never use it online.
N — number of siblings: I have one half-sister but I haven’t seen her since I was 7 because she’s an arsehole so I’m gonne say 0.
O — one wish: Okay this is tough. My fiancee lost his dad last year from brain cancer (my fiancee was 21 at the time, like what kind of age is that to lose your dad?). So I would wish my fiancee could have his dad back BUT we lost my grandad 18 years ago and my grandma has never been the same so I also wish my grandad was still alive for my grandma and my mum.
P — person you last called: my mum and dad’s pub which is also their house phone but I’m pretty sure I rang to talk to my fiancee (he works for my parents).
Q — questions you are always asked: (1) How do you say your name? (my first name is apparently confusing but if you had common sense you’d understand how to say it). (2) when are you and your fiancee gonna have a baby? (3) when is your wedding date?
S — song you last sang: I Wish You Would by Taylor Swift
T — time you woke up: 12:10pm because my alarm for work didn’t go off and I was late oops
U — underwear color: pink and purple
V — vacation destination: is this a dream vacation or just a vacation you currently have booked? I’ll answer for both because idk. My dream vacation would be Bora Bora and vacations I have booked are Spain and Malta.
W — worst habit: I never finish a task lol
X — x-rays: I don’t get this question? I’ve never had an xray?
Y — your favorite food: OH MY GOD THIS IS SO TOUGH I LOVE SO MANY FOODS. My Nanna’s rabbit stew (is a maltese dish), my dad’s maltese sausage pasta, my dad’s minestrone, timpana (maltese dish), pastizzi’s (maltese food), omg there is too many for me to list!
Z — zodiac sign: libra
 i am tagging @halfbloodduchess @diyozaa @sensualbellarke @fen-ha-fuck-you @maddigriffin @clarkegriffintitties @dylanobrienisbatman

Disclaimer that this is a somewhat insane and (barring a tell-all) unprovable pet theory. I think parts of it are true to a certain degree; like the writers and everyone knew exactly what they were doing with Atomic Monsters. That many coincidences don't happen coincidentally!
So we know that 15x04 Atomic Monsters was filmed first because Jensen was directing. I'm pretty sure that they don't film fully chronological, especially for the early part of the season. But anyway. The network might get dailies but it's going to take a bit for episodes to be more edited together into something coherent and we all know things change from script to screen. So let's take the "the entire cast and crew was in revolt" theory to its most extreme conclusion. Which (imho) isn't completely illogical.
So... buckle up. What follows is a wild and unprovable ride because I love coming up with insane bullshit theories that are only vaguely plausible.
Additional disclaimer: I don't work in television so I'm sure I'm off on some things. This is purely wild fan theorizing. Don't take this seriously, but if I'm right about any of this beyond "15x04 was intentional" (which is all but confirmed) I will die laughing.
First off, our writers for the first few episodes are:
15x01 - Dabb (Back and to the Future) 15x02 - Buckleming (Raising Hell) 15x03 - Berens (The Rupture) 15x04 - Perez (Atomic Monsters) 15x05 - Yockey (Proverbs 17:3) 15x06 - Glynn (Golden Time) 15x07 - Jeremy Adams (Last Call)
Honestly, most of the people on that list are pretty "safe" as writers given this was the only s15 ep that Yockey is credited on (which feels weird?) and Berens was likely focused on the confession.
But who, you might ask, is Jeremy Adams? That's not a name that's really come up before as a writer on spn. Well... Jeremy Adams' only prior credit on spn is for Scoobynatural which he co-wrote with James Krieg. Both of them are writers/producers on a lot of animated kids' shows that are largely based on toy properties. One of the series they've both worked on is Scooby-Doo. So that makes sense! But let's go further down the rabbit hole! The majority of the shows that Adams has worked on are also WB and WB subsidiary properties. (i'm ignoring Krieg now since he only has the one spn credit) Also, while most writers are brought on for a full season, Adams' first credit in s15 is 15x06 Golden Time as a story editor... and continues to be credited as story editor on every s15 episode after that. (idk what's up with yockey's single s15 credit, if anybody knows, lemme know bc i'm curious)
Could I posit that someone at the network saw what happened with Atomic Monsters and where some of the later scripts might be heading and decided they needed a company man in the room for the remainder of the season? I'm intrigued that he's the writer on 15x07 Last Call and is also credited as the story editor. I haven't looked at the credits on every single spn ep but I don't remember seeing that before (I've only looked at ~80 tho). Getting wayyy down the rabbit hole: 15x07 feels like an odd episode for someone to write as their first ep that season after joining "late" as a story editor. (He's also writer/story editor on 15x14 Last Holiday.)
Sorry for getting off on the Jeremy Adams tangent but it's one of the keys to my batshit theory. He would have come onboard while things were still being written but potentially after Atomic Monsters had been filmed and maybe late into pre-production on others. Story editor isn't a lofty title/position but the timing on him joining is just kinda odd. Maybe he was contracted and then had an illness/family emergency and was delayed! But also I can't imagine the CW accepting that given they tried to pressure Misha into having Vicki get a c-section which WTF! Besides, if you know someone is there because they're in the room on behalf of the company, it doesn't really matter what their title is.
TL;DR my pet theory is that Atomic Monsters being completely batshit insane and trashing the finale/not fitting with the rest of the season is entirely the result of it having been the first episode filmed (and likely the first script fully finished). As the first episode filmed, it might have had a bit less oversight and being early in the season there's no easy way to have Jensen swap out of just acting and into the director's chair again for reshoots without derailing production schedules. I say they took their fleeting chance and swung for the fucking fences.
again: wild fan theory, please take with a grain of salt.
shameless self-plug: for additional unhinged s15 research rambles check out my #spreadsheetsnatural tag; i'll be picking the project up again soon
Chuck: I know. You don’t need me. No one does. I’m happy for you, Becky, that you like yourself. Because… I kind of hate me right now.
okay so why. first of all utterly insane line that THEE biblical god is claiming no one needs him when the world is suffering lmao but literally WHY have chuck say this and then go back to being a cartoon villain???? season 15 truly makes absolutely ZERO sense
