Ramsgate Foodie Farmers Market:
I usually wouldn’t travel as far as Ramsgate but I made the long journey there on Saturday. The markets are held at the Ramsgate Primary school every Saturday from 8-2pm.
I went to the Gluten Free Expo in Sydney and had the most delicious donuts from GFDessert&Co. Once I found out they were headed to the foodie markets I mustered up the courage and drove there. I’m happy to report I have a well stocked freezer full of donuts.
Anywho, aside from selling fresh pesticide free fruit and vegetables the market had a few plant, clothing, ladies accessories, kids clothes, dog clothes stalls. Quite a few of the food trucks/ stalls offered gluten free, paleo and vegan options. There was a vegan bakery set up under cover.
I tried “Jessy&Co” as I’m easily tempted to throw caution to the wind and indulge in pancakes. Although her sign said gluten free and plant based I wanted to double check and ask. The staff were quite rude and said if there’s a sign it’s pretty obvious. They were too busy talking about their drinks the night before. Customer service is clearly lacking. I ended up ordering the ‘Canadian’ pancake for $12. This was four blueberry and coconut milk pancakes stacked on top of each other, topped with crunchy maple bacon, swimming in a maple syrup lake. It was delicious! The food certainly made up for the unfriendly staff.
If you’re in the area or feel like a drive it’s certainly worth a trip. Plus the beach is a five minute drive from the school too.

Gluten free Carmel tart from the ‘Cake Mania’ at Parramatta, NSW. Delicious but the pastry is a bit hard.
They have biscuits, slices, tarts, pies and special event cakes.

I bought these Macaroons at the Gluten Free Expo in Sydney. They had quite a big range of flavours which surprised me. I purchased the Creme Brûlée and Lemon Meringue pie macaroons. 2 for $7. I found the creme brûlée actually tasted like one. Both were really light and fluffy but the lemon meringue didn’t really resemble it.

Compare the pair: Zeus street: I frequent this place quite abit. My go-to meal is the ‘Lamb Tzimmy’. They have a few different gluten free options and have a gluten free pita. They have a statement for their chips that warns gluten may be present due to being packed in the same place their gluten products are. I’m usually very sensitive and haven’t had any problems. The wrap on its own costs $16.90. Eat grk: I visited their Kogarah branch during really busy period but the staff were more than happy to spend the time to go through my options with me. The pork and lamb souvlaki are gluten free and they have pitas. I enjoyed the thickness of these. I had the ‘lamb souvlaki meal combo’. Which was around $20.

I went to the Time Travellers World Fair 2018 at the Menangle machinery museum over the weekend. There were quite a few stalls selling steampunk pieces. The quality was amazing. It was truly terrifying having the canon go off every hour on the hour. Disappointing though that they expect people to pay such a high entry fee. It was such a relief after an hour drive to find a gluten free food truck there. The Greek truck was my savour. All the food was prepared safely for coeliacs with a separate toaster for gluten pitas.

Beast of a meal today at Degani, Narellan. It was a struggle to finish. Their entire menu is gluten free. They even developed their own special gluten free batter for seafood.

Some more snacks I picked up at a grocery store in Osaka station. The gluten free Madeline’s come in a pack of 6 and are perfect to carry as a snack in a backpack. The vegan chocolate is actually really good. A lot of shops seemed to stock the chocolate like natural Lawson, Lawson, family mart, cosme and life.

The Berry Tea Shop, Berry
They had a lot of cake options as well as a few biscuits. I ordered the Orange and almond cake but wasn’t a huge fan. The orange just didn’t taste quite right.

Ricardo’s cafe, Canberra.
A lovely spot for breakfast in Canberra. I was having a horrible time in Canberra, but this place was my knight in shining armour.
They had a HUGE range of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options. Their cakes looked absolutely amazing. The level of detail and super cool glazed finishes had my mouth watering. But as it was a travelling day I couldn’t buy these for the journey home.
I did enjoy an orange and almond cake though. As well as a bacon and egg roll for breakfast.

I went for a day trip to Berry. As it’s a major tourist destination in NSW there were quite a few gluten free cafes and restaurants. I opted for ‘Hedgehog Cafe’
I was delighted to have a gluten free savoury crepe with bacon, mushroom and asparagus. It had a very light and fluffy texture.
They had vegetarian, gluten free and dairy options on their menu.
