+ “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.’ ― Eleanor Roosevelt
2022 | A Year in Review
What a year 2022 has been. For me, it has been year of great growth and achievement. As I look back across the year, I share with you all these wonderful moments:
- In January I was able to travel for the first-time post pandemic to Bali Indonesia, where it was great to re-connect with the island of the gods.
- In late January, I was invited as a guest on Dr Benjamin Freud’s Coconut Thinking podcast. Benjamin is the founder of Coconut Thinking, an organisation committed to purposeful thinking and action that contribute to the welfare of the bio collective.
- In February, a School for tomorrow. launched their dynamic #Voyage App - designed to be a purpose-driven way for secondary and tertiary students to plan their future, experience life, self-regulate & ultimately thrive. The best part is it's FREE!
- In February, we launched Series Nine of our Game Changers podcast featuring leading Neuroscientist Jared Cooney Horvath, former Director of Wellbeing and prolific writer Daisy Turnbull, decorated teacher and author Oliver Lovell, 40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian Australian and Organisational Psychologist Christine Yeung, founder and CEO at The Man Cave Hunter Johnson, highly accomplished New Zealand Principal Sarah Martin, global inclusion expert Daniel Sobel, Executive Director at the Centre for Transformative Teaching and Learning in the USA Glenn Whitman, celebrated Australian Chef Scott Pickett and Commissioner for Children and Young People SA Helen Connolly. ACE is part of the Planet Ark Environmental Foundation. ACE’s Education for systemic change group aims to bring together those who aspire to transform our education systems to meet the needs of society for a more sustainable future. A School for tomorrow’s partnership with CESA’s Limitless project is primarily designing an innovative learning model, across primary and secondary, that fosters social entrepreneurs who establish enterprises that purposefully engage with their communities to solve complex social, cultural, and environmental problems by adding value to the lives of all whiles contributing to a more just and loving world.

Listen to me ramble about The Code
So my brain has been totally stuck on The Code for last week or so, and it is soooooo my happy place right now. I won’t lie, I pretty much was giving the show a shot just because it was Luke Mitchell in a Marines uniform. Is that shallow? You bet your ass it is. Was it worth it? Way more so that I expected. Before I saw the first ep, learning that Philippa Soo and Dana Delany were in it helped me take it more seriously. I watched the first episode one weekend when I was sick and home alone.
It was better than I had expected. Like, a lot.
Basic premise: It follows a group of lawyer in the military justice system. Specifically, Marines. It shows how the military justice system is quite a bit different from the civilian court system. Which is to say, more than I expected.
Colonel Glenn Turnbull, played by Dana Delany, is the boss of the group. Captain Maya Dobbins is in the Defense office. Major Trey Ferry is in the Prosecution group alone with Lieutenant Harper Li and Captain John ‘Abe’ Abraham. All of them are super smart, very driven, impressive lawyers. At their core, they all believe in truth and justice, and serving those principles as best they can. They are each unique people too.
Abe is a familiar archetype. He’s cocky and confident, he knows how good he is, and he doesn’t hesitate to make it known to others. He likes cracking jokes and teasing others. He’s a third generation Marine who was injured in combat, and upon being told he could no longer be infantry, had to find a new path.
Maya is THE BEST AT EVERYTHING SHE HAS EVER TRIED. (Except one thing she admits sucking at during my favorite scene, which is funny and telling of the character.) She isn’t taking crap from anyone. She knows the law inside and out and has proven herself over and over. She makes sure there is never even the sliver of a chance that anyone could question her skills. But she’s not the no fun, no personality kind of character. She is funny and whip smart.
The competitive tension between Abe and Maya is probably my most favorite thing to watch. Their relationship (friendship? partnership? colleague-ship?) is based in firm respect and admiration. They just know each other well enough to have an easy banter and be able to bring out the best in each other.
Colonel Turnbull is a firm but even handed boss who cares about her employees, and deeply about the Marines. She is wise and gives a lot of good advice, while still maintaining her own sense of self and storylines. Trey is a great straight man to Abe’s wisecracker, but he has a sense of humor as well, and knows when to go along with Abe’s pushing of the limits in order to serve justice. Harper Li hates all the jokes about her name, and is working hard to prove herself to everyone. She has a ton of sass and my favorite lines of hers are when she’s observing others (usually Abe) and commenting on when he’s acting different. “Did he just say furthermore?!” And Rami. Oh Rami, I adore him. He’s that quiet observer of everything, anticipating needs and contributing to execution of strategy. He knows the value of a well place suggestion.
Let’s be real: this is another CBS military/police/law procedural show. That sets a certain expectation. And it really does fit that mold. But don’t let that fool you. This show is good. The stories themselves focus on different aspects of military life, not just combat. The cases rarely follow the trajectory set up in the beginning of the episode, but when they twist, it’s in a way that is earned and honored. The ultimate goal is to uncover the truth and find the best outcome for everyone. Sometimes that means sacrifices or compromises that don’t feel great. Sometimes that means taking huge risks personally and professionally. Sometimes it means riding right on the edge of protocol to secure a victory for the betterment of the USMC. It reminds me a lot of Law and Order, because there is a huge focus on the investigation - just as much as the actual courtroom action. But in this setting, instead of being very Us vs Them (Prosecution v Defense), there is a bigger team feeling. That leads to cooperation in ways that you wouldn’t see in a civilian court. Which makes for a stronger core team of characters.
Thus far, they haven’t had any stumbles in the storytelling. There are a couple storylines developing that I’m not a fan of. However, I have a feeling they are better set up to have Abe fail at something, probably in a really big way. It sounds like I’m rooting against him, but I’m really not. Right now his gambles have all paid off. That’s not sustainable. And with his personality, it would lead to hubris and true arrogance. (He’s cocky, but not arrogant.) He needs to be leveled a little bit, and I suspect the growth that comes from that will be significant. We’re still getting to know all the characters, but everything we do learn is consistent with what has already been revealed. Right now, the show is reminding me of The Blacklist in the focus on solid characters and letting the action follow that. We’re only 5 episodes in (#6 is tonight), which means there is plenty of time for them to screw up. But for right now, they’re on a good path. It’s not the most exciting or unique show ever, but it’s solid and it’s not making me yell at the TV, which let’s be honest is way more than I can say for pretty much all my shows right now.
Also, everyone is gorgeous. The end.

Yes, Paul Young achieved a huge success with his debut, but what did he do then? He followed the latter up with The Secret Of Association. This is not a punchline about the commercial fortunes of the LP, the record sold a lot and I would claim the disc might be his best. Sure, the controlled, hm, madness of No Parlez might be toned down, though the platter sounds like a work of someone who noticed what worked before, yet who seemed to be aware how to make that better. One of the singles from the album that is a cover, check the link, combines several different types of soundscapes into a power ballad that packs a huge emotional wallop. However, Paul Young hides the darkness of the piece in plain sight with several weird elements that show the true character of the lyrical speaker.

The much-talked about production did not disappoint; the modernized visuals create many new layers to the show, and make you think about events and characters in a whole new way. Nehal, Allison, Justin, and Christia were probably my favorites, but the entire cast is so talented, it’s difficult to choose any as standouts. A very nice capture overall. There are a couple quick dropouts in act one, but no major blackouts. There is one head that can be seen occasionally, but it only blocks a small portion of the stage and only affects the action for about 20-30 seconds of the entire show. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent as usual. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. It’s refreshing to see different faces in the lead roles, and both Nathaniel and Earl carry the show well. Nathaniel’s vocals are powerful and he has a great rapport with Caissie and Samantha. A lovely capture overall with no obstruction. Look Down is mostly blacked out and there are a couple quick dropouts during The Bishop scene and Lovely Ladies, but the show is otherwise fully intact. He first understudied in 1999, when JOJ was the principal, which may explain the similarity. About half of the Chain Gang song missing and filming starts in earnest during Valjean on parole. Other parts missed because of ushers include several random one-second cover-ups, part of the wedding and about half of Finale. Heads in the way sometimes block the action on the lower right of the stage, but they are shot around well. Vantage point provides some interesting views such as of Fantine during Lovely Ladies. Wonderful performances from the entire cast but especially then soon-to-be-Elphaba Kerry Ellis. The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team (Review Ala-ala)
“Bagaimana jika kita kalah melawan Srilanka?
Game on!
Bagian berikutnya, Piala Dunia ODI.
“Ketika kau melihat Piala Dunia pergi begitu saja darimu, perasaanmu pasti hancur.
Tapi, belum sampai situ. Lemparan Archer yang memantul liar mengenai kepala Smith. Ia tergeletak dan akhirnya harus ditarik keluar. Namun, tak lama, ia kembali lagi setelah Siddle keluar. Ia kemudian terus batting hingga menyelesaikan innings dengan 92 runs.
Menjelang hari terakhir, Australia harus segera mengambil keputusan. Smith dipastikan membaik setelah melewati semua protokol gegar otak.
Namun, bola yang dilemparkan padanya terlepas sehingga ia tak mampu melakukan run-out.
Dan sisanya, adalah sejarah. Pukulan cut Ben Stokes membuat Inggris berhasil mencatatkan run chase terbaik sepanjang sejarah mereka, dan Ben Stokes keluar sebagai man of the match dengan 135* runs.
Perlawanan Inggris tak mampu membuat mereka mengejar tim tamu. Mereka all out ketika skor menunjukkan 301.
Jack Leach berhasil membuat bowlers andalan Australia frustasi. Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, gagal mendobrak pertahanan Jack Leach.
Australia memang gagal memenangi seri Ashes.

Mighty Maniax is a new line of 3″ Glyos action figures inspired by cartoons and videos games of the ’80s and ’90s.
Decades ago, cartoons were made from toys, and video games were made from cartoons. Its always been a dream of mine to bring a world like Masters of the Universe, Transformers, or TMNT to life. Mighty Maniax is being created in that same spirit. This is a new 3″ line of action figures inspired by vintage collectibles like, Battle Beasts, Army Ants, and Hasbro era WWF figures. Heavily influenced by video games and cartoons of the ’80s and ’90s, these characters represent a wild world of action, horror, and sci-fi fantasy. Johnny Tombstone is the main character and hero of the Mighty Maniax world. His supernatural abilities to sense evil and destroy it are unparalleled. Equipped with an Evo-cannon and containment pack, he sets out to balance the forces of good and evil with the most unlikely of companions.
Among his band of misfit monsters are Fishstik, a hyper-intelligent water creature, and Viper, a fast-talking Ninja by day; deadly Werewolf by night. Enter a world of frightening monsters and mighty heroes with the all new Mighty Maniax action figures.
Mighty Maniax Wave One
Toy molds are expensive! From a 12″ figure to these smaller 3″ figures, it takes a large amount of funding to get them made. We are looking to KickStarter backers to raise the funds to cover the molds and production for this creator-owned line of toys.
1988 Lamborghini Countach Not Included.
Each Mighty Maniax figure comes with 1 body, 3 character heads, and has 10 points of articulation. Swap the heads out to change up the look of each figure, or interchange any part to create new characters.
Monster figures feature Maniac Morphing to change visual form from scales to fur, or even fire with different colors and heads. Get the Slasher Weapons Pack to add even more attitude to your figures.

All figures will feature the Glyos joint system. If you’re new to Glyos, you may be wondering what that means.
Glyos Size Chart (Left to Right: Toy Pizza, Battle Tribes, Mighty Maniax, Onell Design, Onell Design, and Spaced Out Design)
The Glyos System features a simple peg & socket joint system known as the “Fit Function” that makes them completely interchangeable with one another, allowing for limitless build options. Created by Onell Design, this unique joint system is only made available to Glyos approved toy makers. Rocom Toys has been working closely with Onell Design to ensure that Mighty Maniax figures fit right into the Glyos world while also maintaining their original voice and attitude.
Mixed parts Glyos build including Mighty Maniax, Toyfinity, and Onell Design pieces.
With Glyos joints, any of the toys shown above can share parts for new character creations. Its almost like LEGO for action figures! For more insight into the world of Glyos, check out the detailed video below made by The Crafsman.
Growing up in the ’90s wouldn’t be the same without 16-Bit video games played on the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis systems. When cinematographer, Joel Benner, and video-game coder, Matt Cooper, approached Rocom Toys with the opportunity to make a classic 16-Bit side-scroller, there was no question that it had to be for Mighty Maniax.
Mighty Maniax: The Video Game features 16-Bit Graphics With Modern Gameplay.
What Rocom Toys created is an action-packed, spooky, shoot ’em up with a Contra meets Ghosts ‘N Goblins vibe, all to the retro synthwave sounds of All The Damn Vampires. The music created for the game throws you right back into the ’80s with the single “Johnny’s Revenge.”

Death Jaguar Add-On Accessories Stretch Goal
Rocom Toys started in 2018 after the success of the Death Jaguar Vinyl Toy Kickstarter. With hundreds of units sold, we began working with illustrators and artists to develop new toys that are unlike any other. Tom Neely’s “Henry & Glenn Forever” Anime Robots, and last year’s “Future Me” by Alex Pardee, both got vinyl toy treatments from their own successful Kickstarter campaigns. You can always check in on what we are up to on the Rocom Toys Instagram account @rocomtoys, or the new Mighty Maniax page @mightymaniax. This is our 4th toy campaign and we are hoping that, with your help, it will be another successful one!

I have feeeeeeeeeelings.
I need to watch that episode a couple more times. It was jampacked full. Everything was important.
Quick hits:
Harper Li needs a hug
Glenn Turnbull needs a hug
Maya Dobbins needs a stiff drink
Trey Ferry needs a gold star sticker
John Abraham needs a smack on the back of the head (for a few reasons)
and
Rami Ahmadi needs to come back
I’m also getting really annoyed by these conversations between Abe and Alex that seem like they’re going one way then flip the other direction. Am I just misinterpreting them because I want to or are they really using misdirection in them?
