Palestine is the home for several wild, edible plants. Za’atar and akkoub are popular herbs in Palestinian culture and cuisine. In 1977, however, Ariel Sharon declared za’atar a ‘protected plant’, rendering its foraging, possession or trade a criminal offense. Akkoub suffered a similar fate when it was labelled protected in 2005. Those who pick za’atar and akkoub subsequently became lawbreakers and in many cases were indicted and convicted. Despite this, several Palestinians, especially the elderly, are willing to defy these laws.

hi I’m annemarie and I’m an art historian! not adjuncting for the first time in five years was rly hard for me so I threw some slides together so I could still (sort of) teach the same material as my language of art class but a) I threw these slides together for instagram so space was/is limited and b) language of art is a ten week run through art history so I’m presenting only the most accessible information here – there’s so much more to this art period and to these artists! – please don’t expect it to be comprehensive and please do ask if you have any questions!

oh p.s. my first ever class of art history students came up with the name ‘art mom’ for me at the end of the quarter and yes it does make me cry if I think about it too long thanks so much for asking

I'm not sure about the canon implications of it, but I really like the idea that after he quit his job, Erenville started wearing clothing from his home again. I'm not sure if the area right next to Tesh'pyani village was always called The Thunderyards, or if it became called that after the merge of Yyasulani and Alexandria, but since the gear he's wearing is a custom(?) version of the Thunderyards gathering set (plus the MNR job specific boots) and the design of the clothing doesn't look like it fits with the Alexandrian sense of style, I can only assume that it's of Yyasulani design.

I'm doing a really bad job of saying that I think it's neat that the gear he's wearing now that he gets the choice of what to wear is something that probably reminds him of his home and all the people from it. Don't get me wrong I really love the gleaner gear as well, and he looks good in that, but I like that his new gear (in my mind at least) seems much more personal to him as a character.

I think I would be in far worse straits mentally right now if I didn’t have a job that I really believe in. how wonderful to staff a resource table at parent-teacher conferences and be able to tell beleaguered parents it’s free.
